Welcome back to with the first pick, the combine and free to see behind us, the draft just
around the corner.
It's time for perfect draft this time for the Las Vegas Raiders.
Sun Rhyme will send us former Titans GM ran carton before we get rolling here ran.
Hey Raiders fans.
First of all, the comments what you think the biggest need is heading to the draft for
the Raiders.
They were super busy during the free agency period.
Try to get Max Frost be away.
He refused to leave.
So he's back.
But what other needs do you think are important outside of, of course, quarterback?
If the first overall pick, we always love hearing from you guys.
Let's know what you have to say.
All right, Ryan, I mentioned the Raiders have the number one overall pick, 11 total selections.
And for me, despite Sun and Tyler Linderbaum, the center, they still have some needs along
the entire offensive line and along the defensive line too.
So we're going to work our way through this, and maybe I'll mention some free agency
signings as they impact our decisions about where we might go personally wise.
I mean, we talked to John Spitec at the combine.
I've asked you this question.
You're going to answer calls, but you are not coming off the first overall pick, correct?
I mean, I'm going to answer the call.
That I mean, I'm going to do something.
So yeah, we could speed this thing along already.
Right.
Just take one of the offensive linemen at number one and keep it moving.
Man, you want to turn this thing upside down quick, unless Fernando Mendoza is playing
offensive line, we got to take our QB there, producer striker.
So let's take Fernando Mendoza.
The great news about being terrible is that now you pick 36.
And which direction do we want to go here?
And let's see, we got Tyler Linderbaum, Eric Stokes, they signed the cornerback, Jaylin
Nail of the wide receiver, Quiddy Pay they got from the Coltsy Edroscher, the two linebackers
in the Coby-D and Quay Walker, both were at Georgia back in the day.
They re up Mountain Pooh Street for Taran Johnson and got my guy, Connor Haywood, the full
back from the Steelers.
So that's what the roster looks like now.
What is the next biggest need in your mind for a Vegas Raiders team that is trying to protect
the young quarterback?
I mean, I'm with you.
I think you got to either for me personally, it's either got to be receiver or tackle.
Yeah.
That's where you got to go next and we would need to see who's available at those positions.
All right.
Here we go.
Chris Bell.
We've talked about at a Louisville Tours ACL late in the season.
I was not particularly high on him as a top 50 guy.
I think Rand, you were in a similar conversation, but I don't want to speak to you.
Speak for you.
Chris Brassel is there.
You love you some Chris Brassel, but you see that different than Dante Thornton who
incidentally was also a Tennessee last season.
And Elijah Serrat looks like I'm our Cooper juniors off the board.
Your guy, Jeremy Bernard is there.
Is that too rich for him?
We're all the off.
I mean, for me, if I'm choosing and I'm going best player available at those out of those
two positions of need, I'm taking Chris Brassel.
Okay.
No concern about the Dante Thornton double up.
No, because I think this guy has potential number one, why receiver ability.
And I think he can do more than then Dante Thornton.
I get the whole Tennessee connection and being having the vertical speed.
But I think this guy is only scratching the surface with what that Tennessee offense
asks him to do.
So given a big explosive playmaker on the perimeter that I think will be more consistent
and has better hands than Dante Thornton.
Yeah, let's do it.
So Jack Bash and Dante Thornton are the two young men.
They drafted last year.
They have Trey Tucker who's under size listed as the number number two receiver right now.
Sheila Nailer, they signed who I mentioned who I think is going to be a big contributor.
And obviously you have Brock Bowers, you're tied in there to go along with Ash and
Genty.
So now we're cooking.
So I'll remove the wide receivers from now.
I just want to see who the offensive lineman are.
I want to see what we can do on the interior.
Colton Miller, the Hattler-Linder bomb, Jackson Powers Johnson, who they drafted a couple
of years ago in the second round.
Delmar DJ Glaze is the right tackle.
Jordan Mayrard, I think, is fair to say.
He could be up for replacement.
And now we're at pick.
Shrackery, tell me what pick this is because I can't see my monitor.
So tiny.
67.
All right.
So we're at 67.
And this is their third round pick.
And this is around the range.
So I think Keel and Rutledge could come off the board.
And by the way, in case you're wondering, one or both of us is seeing every single one
of these players.
We're going to suggest.
So we're not just throwing names out there because I know sometimes people do wonder
about that.
Sam Hack is going to be a center at the next level.
Connor Lewis is a center.
I didn't tell you, Rand.
Connor at the combine.
He's healthy.
He's coming along.
And I was sort of surprised.
He came out, but he felt he was ready.
But I don't think the center is obviously not a need for them.
So for me, it'd be Rutledge.
Rutledge.
Excuse me.
Your guy, Jake Slaughter, can play Garb.
He's more of a center.
And there's not a lot of depth there anywhere else you thinking like that.
I think had they not signed Tyler Lindenbaum, I think Connor Lou would have been an excellent
fit in his outside zone scheme.
I think he would have been an excellent fit there had they not signed Lindenbaum, but
I do like the Keelan Rutledge pick there at Garb.
Let's do it then because that's easy.
He's another pencil leader to bar term from our buddy, Brian McFadden.
All right, next up, correct me if I'm wrong, producer striker, but this is pick 102.
So we're now in the fourth round.
And go to your picks, striker, just so I can double back and make sure we know what
we got.
We got the quarterback.
We got Chris Browse.
We got Keelan Rutledge.
Excuse me.
Drew Aller, the Penn State guys are coming to the top for some reason, Brian.
So let's see what else you want to do.
I think let's see, we've taken a quarter back to receiver.
The tackle is still out there.
I think the line is still in there.
Yeah, there we go.
Now we're now we're speaking the same language.
So Dante Corleone, David Harris, who we've talked about in this podcast.
I think even though he looks the part plays too high and he's probably going to end up
being a late day three pick from my perspective, you know, Zane Durant, you've spoken with
him.
Linden Robinson, the fun player of the Navy, little undersides that he'll probably go
later in day three, Chris McClellan, I have as a day three guy too.
You like Tim Keenan a little more than I do.
So I'll, I'll defer to you, sir.
Yeah, let's, let's also look in the second area.
Let's look at safety and corner.
Just a Smith good player.
I mean, these are all good guys that we're, that we're looking at here.
But Clark, he's a ball hawk and he is physical.
Cario Davis is a long corner out of Washington, Jalen Kilgore, athletic slot, big, just
depends on what you're looking for.
David Marshall is a physical outside corner, a fusion priest, a price stock, excuse me,
played opposite to Cario at Washington.
And those are, I mean, to the, I mean, let me ask you, Ryan, because I was a, I like
Malik Muhammad heading into the season.
But here would you take Malik Muhammad or blood, Clark?
That's a good question.
They're different players.
They inside and slot and both more of a slot free safety guy.
Let's double check here.
So they, they re, I mean, they, they got Eric Stokes, they got to Ron Johnson.
So they have the nickel.
They have Darien Porter as the starter going into your two or three, I think he's young player.
And then after that, it's pretty wide open.
I might, I think I'm leaning towards Malik Muhammad in this situation.
And blood, Clark happens to still be there on the, on the swing back because Malik is,
is physical.
He played 185 or so, but he plays bigger than that.
He has ball skills.
And he does not get pushed around.
Yeah, let's go Malik Muhammad and see if blood is there in, in what is it, 15 picks.
Yeah, and there, this is, they got some depth at the position here.
So we're, yeah, 15 picks later, we're at 117.
So let's see here.
Oh, Bishop Fitzgerald's there.
He's a, he's a, you know, we talked a lot about Kamar Ramsey out of USC.
I think Bishop Fitzgerald actually liked him a little bit.
He went two picks before the rain.
We were on the right, I looked at Ravens, got us again.
They sent back Max and then they took bud.
And they were like hungry.
Let's go back to best player available.
Yeah, my guy, Vijay Payne still sitting there.
He disrespected him all sorts of ways.
Cardiac sap is a run first, you know, thick edge.
And this feels this round or maybe the next round, fourth or fifth might be,
when he starts coming off the board, the Raiders also have pick 134.
So they have 17, 17 picks after this.
They'll be on the clock again.
So, so do we want to double up on the offensive line?
Can you go through their offensive line?
Yep.
So as I mentioned, you know, we got Tyler.
Jordan Meredith is the left guard.
I think Keel and Rutledge is going to solve that problem.
Colton Miller's the left tackle Jackson Powers Johnson and DJ Glades.
And then after that, my God Charles Grant,
how do we marry, drafted 99th overall last year is a backup.
He's a young athletic raw.
You got you bowry staring in the face there.
Trey Zune is a tackle, but he's probably going to play center
to the next level of text and M.
He's a really good player.
Austin Barber, Isaiah World, the left tackle out of Oregon
who suffered the ACL late.
I think in the text saying M game, maybe even the.
Let's let's go.
Because I'm stuck between Billy Sharath
because of his versus his interior versatility in Jude
Bowry.
I think this would be a good spot.
So here, because you have 17 picks to go Jude Bowry
or Jalen Kilgore.
Oh, okay.
See, I was going to say, I'm not a Billy Shroth guy
and I could be again on my own on that one.
I do like Jude Bowry.
I think you like him a little bit more than me.
I like Jalen Kilgore a lot.
And I think that versatility is could be used
in an interesting way.
They have Jeremy Chin, of course,
and they're similar type players.
I don't think Jalen's quite that big.
All right.
So let's go Kilgore right here.
All right.
Take Kilgore, producer striker turned the card
and don't turn in the wrong name.
All right, you're still.
We didn't fire you yet.
And now, you want to see if you just see the rate
of some Jude Bowry.
That would be hysterical.
Jude Bowry appears to be, you see gone too?
Where did he go, striker?
Tell me the Ravens took him, I dare you.
Oh, the 49, your 49ers took him, Ryan.
All right.
Jalen, make this awesome.
Barbers there.
I don't know how you felt about him.
I know he's a gator, but I don't think you were high
as high on him as I was.
Both Stevens is a good interior player,
but I don't know if you need another interior player.
Let's go best player available.
A long corner into cardio Davis, Bruce Betcher
is a former baseball player, super athletic
playmaking tied in, excuse me, linebacker.
They're pretty stocked at linebacker right now.
Let's see what else we got, because...
Tim Keenan is still there.
Let's do it.
Let's go Tim Keenan right there.
All right, so we have interior offensive line,
interior defensive line.
We have two members of the secondary,
and then we have a white receiver and our quarterback.
Go to, let's go running back.
And let's go see who's available at running back.
Yeah, Nick Seagalton was on the board,
and we made that last pick.
I mean, look, man, I'm a fan of Jamari Taylor
out of UVA, I'm a fan of Caleb Blackout of Indiana.
They're different type players.
Jamari can catch the ball a little more versatile.
Halen Black is sort of a...
I say you'll check a type in my mind
in terms of he runs angry and runs over people.
His teammate Roman Hymbe is there as well.
All right, let's go.
Let's go back best player available.
You just quit on the running backs just like that.
That's how you do your guys.
Now, because there was one running back that I saw before
we picked Tim Keenan and I thought
might be available in five, but he wasn't there.
Didn't you, you had a lot of love for Julian Neal, right?
Yeah, long physical corner, a little handsy down feel,
but I mean, you'd rather have that than, you know,
where the world in second must be, Mack likes to say.
Would you be comfortable there in five?
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
No, that's right.
I think he's the top 125 guy, so absolutely.
Let's do it.
By the way, if you're, uh, let us know.
Raiders fans, if you're yelling and screaming at the monitor,
or if you're okay with this because ran quickly give the strategy
after you sort of hit your needs and you're in the day three here,
you're not, just because you need something doesn't mean
you're going to reach for a guy with another player.
Right.
I think I think once you get here, you're looking for good football players
that fit what you do schematically.
Um, that I have a chance to, if they're not in your lineup,
they'll have a chance to dress for you on Sundays,
Sundays, Thursdays and Mondays.
Um, and that's where guys like Julia Neil tall long corners
that can run that now they have the ability to affect special teams.
Right.
Right.
That's right.
And special teams is the thing that we don't necessarily think about
as fans and in the media, but obviously play a huge role
in what you're trying to do here.
I mean, these long corners just keep coming, uh,
masses out of, out of cows, another example.
Um, I'm already, uh, Reed Adams is a guard from tech stadium.
He's a good player.
I don't know if we need that right now.
Uh, quit.
My guy Pat Cougan is still out here and.
So let me ask you this.
So you got Linda bomb.
The backup at, at, at center right now is, uh, will putnam.
Would you, do you spend a pick this high?
I think Cougan's a better player than this,
but he's been to pick this high on a backup that you know
is not going to play unless there's an injury.
No, I mean, you tried not to.
Um, but then it gets to a point where, you know,
it's the value is just too good to pass up.
I just wish that there was more versatility here.
Yeah.
That's right.
Can he play guard in this scheme?
I don't, I don't know that we know that.
Um, so.
I'm going to let you make this pick.
So Cougan did play left guard in 2023 when he was with the.
Yeah.
Yeah, but this is a, this is a different scheme.
This is outside zone.
Right.
Can he play in space?
Second level backside.
That's right.
Can you do that well enough?
I think he's a better athlete than we're giving them.
Not us, but other people will give him credit for it.
Hey, let's look at that rush real quick.
Striker.
I just want to see because I know max coming back,
but if he's not healthy to start the season,
that could be a question.
Uh, Quintavius Hutchins is, is a situational.
Designate a pass rush type.
That's an anti juniors long.
He's, he's not as effective as other like that.
This doesn't, this isn't blowing my hair back.
Logan Fano might be my.
The guy I would most likely take here.
So let's go back to the main.
That's available board.
Let's look at.
We got our running back yet.
No, let's go look at running back.
Yeah, Jamari still there.
So Jamari, do you want.
So Jamari, do you want.
Jamari who's closer to ash and gentier?
Do you want a bulldozer like Kayla Blacker or Roman,
Henry, for example?
Now, you got to be able to run that.
I, I think.
Kayla Black is more of a gap scheme.
Yeah.
Down hill.
You got to be able to stretch that.
Jamari will be.
Okay.
The better fit here.
You can catch for sure.
All right. Let's do that.
I just didn't know if you wanted to.
If you're okay, doubling up,
like when we talk about wide receivers of the same size.
All right.
You guys ain't Durant still there.
We just got a little help there.
Yeah.
VJ Payne, Lorenzo styles.
Those are two good safeties.
And we did not get.
You just fighting for VJ Payne.
That's all.
That's right.
We did get Jalen Kilgore who's more of a slot guy.
My guy Skyler go Howard's there.
The souped up.
Um, interior deep into lineman.
Tyrant Montgomery is the,
the fun story out of John.
Let's go zane Durant.
Okay.
A quick interior guy that can get you some interior disruption.
All right.
This is pick two thirty eight.
Is that correct striker?
Is that where we are?
So.
Yes.
We'll pick.
That's right.
Yeah.
This is the last one.
Oh, this is the last pick.
So this is there.
I think this is a compic.
Maybe.
All right.
This is it.
This is where this is where Ryan,
where you typically turn around and you ask your scouts.
What college free agent that we cover that we're covered in the most.
That we know we won't be able to sign.
And that's right.
This is where you go get that guy.
Right.
And all of all these best player available types that are on the board right now.
Who do you absolutely?
Going down striker.
I love the idea of a tailing green or a cold patent, but they're not going to play.
And it's just air gentry.
Have you seen air gentry?
I haven't.
Six five thirty five inch arms.
And he plays linebacker off ball.
And he is fun.
I sort of like him here.
He's insanely athletic.
One of the strombo had a good week there.
And I only only mentioned his name here in addition to being a good player.
But because of the conversations you've talked about with what the 49ers were looking for in Fred Warner.
Being able to run to special.
And if you're six five with thirty five and thirty four inch arms.
All you got to do is just you know you got to look at the ball.
Just run with your hands up like you're running away from a bear.
And.
Half the time you got to knock down the pass.
Well, you sold me.
Let's take him.
I was waiting for you push back on that.
All right.
Eric gentry.
Six five off ball linebacker.
And he'll hit two now.
He's not.
He ain't afraid of little contact.
He's he's an absolutely fun player.
All right.
So that is it.
Greater fans.
Here's what I want to ask you to do.
I want you to give us a grade.
And.
You know, you guys going to be honest.
I'm not going to back for you to do something nice.
If it's an F gives an F.
If you think we hit the needs.
Let us know if we didn't let us know what needs you thought we should hit.
And if we didn't get a player that you wanted that was on the board.
Let us know that too.
So we hit the quarterback.
Of course you see strikers are ready to give us a grade of B plus.
That is.
I don't want to push that on strike.
That is a PFF grade.
But.
The first Brazil C minus grade of 36 seems a bit harsh.
But greater fans let us know we think about that.
I think that's a.
Obviously a big need.
And we've seen young quarterbacks have a lot of success.
When you number one, protect them.
And that's what the Raiders are trying to do.
And number two, give them guys to throw to defense gets a lot better.
And look, Tim Keenan and Zane Durant.
Very air and Donald boat.
In your words, Rand, what are they going to provide as rookies in terms of.
Especially against the run, right?
Yep.
And I think Zane Durant is just a change up guy that's.
Small quick.
Can be disruptive.
And I think that only helps the guys that we have on edge.
All right.
That's it for this edition of the perfect fix.
Remember, we're going to hit all 32 teams.
Thanks as always for joining us in discussion and be sure to subscribe.
