It's Bill again. So today, we're going to talk about Americans supporting Canada's terrorists more than Trumps. Sometimes pulling asks the wrong question. Sometimes pulling is misread. Sometimes pulling asks one question, but answers an entirely separate question by accident. Recent pulling on Trump's tariffs was pretty remarkable. A poll by Politico asked thousands of Canadians and thousands of Americans questions about the tariffs. Canadians broadly supported Carnie's reciprocal tariffs. 71% said Carnie's tariffs were right. Well, just 17% said they were wrong. No surprise there. Canadians have shown a level of national solidarity that arises among a population when their country is attacked. Americans on the other hand, um, don't support Trump's tariffs,
like at all. Only 26% of Americans said Trump was right to impose the tariffs, while 56% said he was wrong. The rest didn't know. That is devastatingly bad polling on the Republican Party's foremost economic policy. I mean, it's really bad. But what if I told you that wasn't even the worst part for Republicans? Not even close. Those numbers are looking at how citizens of a country feel about their leader imposing tariffs on the other country. There's something even more interesting when you look at how people feel about the tariffs being imposed by the other country on theirs. For Canadians, only 8% said Trump was right to impose the tariffs on Canada. 83% said he was wrong. The rest didn't know. Again, no surprises here.
Now for Americans, the numbers start revealing something you wouldn't expect. 33% of Americans believe Carnie was right to impose his tariffs on the US. And only 31% think he was wrong. The rest don't know. Caused football is back. So Hilton called to me the superstition concierge to make your fan rituals a reality. Need a room to match your lucky number? We got you. That's a lot of empathy from a country that historically has none. But wait, there's more. It actually gets worse. Did you catch the contrast in American opinions? Only 26% of Americans said Trump was right to impose the tariffs. While 33% of Americans believe Karni was right to impose his tariffs. Canada's tariffs on the United States are pulling higher than our tariffs on Canada. What does this mean for the Republican Party? It means that Americans have rejected their economic policies
to such an extreme that people of the US, a country famous for having zero regard for the positions of other nations, are now more supportive of Canada's position than Trump's. The Republicans scrambled to distance themselves from Trump's policies is in full swing. As Trump endorsed candidates, try to pretend they don't support him. And as incumbents try to pretend, they had nothing to do with Trump's horrible economy. Friendly civics reminder, Article 1, Section 8, gives power over tariffs to Congress. Just saying. Sadly, there will still be a lot of people in the United States who will vote Republican, simply because they have an R after their name, or because they vote to make other people's lives worse, rather than vote to make their own better. Racism and bigotry is expensive, buying into ridiculous nationalist myths is expensive.
We're all paying the price for it right now. Want your prices to go down? Maybe stop supporting the people who cause them to go up. Anyway, it's just a thought. Y'all have a good day.
