So today, we're going to talk about Trump losing its scotus again over midterm ballots. Trump wanted to rush changes to mail-in ballots, and in the process, a whole lot of disorder would be created. And there was a high likelihood of voter disenfranchisement. During the push, he routinely lost in court outside of procedural wins. And now the Supreme Court has finally slapped his midterm drive down. The decision from the court was pretty simple. Quote. The application for stay presented to Justice Jackson, and by her referred to the court, is denied. The government is unlikely to succeed on the merits of its challenge to the district court's preliminary injunction. And the equitable factors applicable for obtaining emergency relief from this court do not favor a stay. Kavanaugh concurred, but added a little caveat.

Quote. In my view, based on the briefing the court has received at this interim stage, there is at least a fair prospect that the final rule falls within the Postal Services statutory authority. He then went on. Quote. But applying the rule in the 2026 election would be arbitrary and capricious in violation of the Administrative Procedure Act, because state and local election officials do not have sufficient time to reasonably implement the rule before the elections. Of course, Justice's Alito and Thomas dissented. Shock. So what does this mean? This was kind of the last chance for Trump to try to implement his rules before the midterms. US District Court judge Indira Tawani's injunction remains in place. It's worth noting, because a lot of people have tried to cast her as a radical leftist.

That another judge, US District Judge Carl J. Nichols, ordered the Postal Service not implement Trump's plans and said, quote, plaintiffs have demonstrated that absent an injunction, there is an increased risk that a significant number of otherwise appropriate absentee or mail-in ballots will ultimately not be counted in the upcoming elections. The public has a strong interest in ensuring that doesn't happen. Indira Tawani was appointed by Obama. So of course, evil leftists or whatever nonsense they want to spout. Nichols was appointed by a Republican. He was appointed by Trump himself. In the end, the court appeared to be divided seven to two on this. But that's not really the end of the story yet. Because while Trump appears to be out of time to disrupt the midterms, this whole thing will likely continue to be an issue and be argued

for the 2028 cycle. But there are two important notes. While this whole thing is ridiculous and to me an overstep, it was the rushed nature that posed a real threat. There's now two years for this to play out. The other thing to remember is that the court doesn't really think Trump can succeed. Even if you move Kavanaugh into the pro-Trump side, that's still a six to three decision against Trump. Trump passed this way to justices in addition to Kavanaugh. Democratic representative Robert Garcia of California said, quote, the Supreme Court has done the right thing by protecting the American people's right to vote. Donald Trump tried to illegally interfere with our elections and undermine vote by mail for millions of Americans and failed. We will keep fighting to protect the right to vote of every single citizen in this country. Callis football is back.

This fight isn't actually over, but this is a big win for the American people

and a huge loss for Trump. It also serves as a reminder that procedural rulings are just that, and it's best to keep that in mind when you want to panic. And as a side note, it would be really cool if people didn't send hate mail next time I refuse to panic over a procedural ruling. But, speaking of internet meltdowns, can't wait to see what Trump has to say about this. Anyway, it's just a thought. Y'all have a good day.
