well let's just say the computers are not exactly my friend today. Well, you know, AI is going to kill us by 2030, so. AI or whatever. I gotta say, it's just one of them things. If you happen to be in a a computer tech person and you're working at a company, a reminder, never, ever, ever, ever force updates in the middle of the day. Especially in the middle of the week. Like, if you want to do a Friday night at midnight or something. Be-be-be-be glad, yeah, midnight local time, wherever the person is. Yes, exactly. Just be glad that we don't know where you live, just saying. I mean, we're-you seem to be recording, hopefully. I'm doing what I'm doing. I'm-I'm-I'm-we're broadcasting out to all of our great radio affiliates, yes, exactly. So, look, we do have a good show for- today. I'm excited about the guests that are coming in, obviously, because we've got a couple of awesome guests. Our friends, Don Lewis is going to be back here tonight. He heard the politics bar, which is awesome,

and Bob Sesca as well, which, you know, look, it's great. Bob's got a new house. Don has a new show, which is good. And of course, you know, we got all the news on tap for you guys. Thank you, by the way, everybody joining us from whatever radio affiliate you are, whether you are joining us from Georgia now radio in the ATL or maybe WCPPT, AMA20 in Chicago. Maybe you're listening on the T2RTK in Tennessee or AM950 in Minneapolis, St. Paul, our progressive voices radio worldwide, somewhere else in the planet, or maybe you are one of our wonderful future people you are listening on your favorite podcast player, or maybe you're really cool and you're subscribed at thepaltixbar.com, $6 a month. Get you all the goodies. We'll talk about that a little bit later. But anyway, so yeah, today's been one of those kind of days where I'm just like, are you serious? Are you serious? And then, of course, we've been constantly- we've been- we've been waiting to hear about the hearing that went on this afternoon about- I'm watching the New Times right now. And well, and we're constantly watching the news. Obviously, there was the Missouri. Did you know the- okay, so the stupid-ass Missouri voting thing. That went to the Supreme Court either this morning

or last night. I think it was like 1 a.m. Chris Geidener was posting about how there was- it was shifting and I'm going people. The ballots for Missouri- We've gone out. They went out Friday. Let's see, Friday, Saturday, Sunday, Monday, five days. We are sitting right now right here this evening. 41 days to go. Well, they would have to come up. They would have to design new ballots. And then they would have- no, it's 41 days until the election. And people already have ballots. So I haven't seen yet. Maybe it happened. Maybe it didn't start coming. I mean, talk about close to an election, Scotas. Oh, yeah. Well, you know, Kevin O'Holefully will have, you know, taken care of this and cut it down. But the fact of the matter is we don't know. I mean, we don't we don't know. The news is just it's flying so fast these days because there's so much of it going on. I look forward to boredom again. I look forward to nice. Do we have enough to talk about today?

I look forward to that. It would be great if we were like, um, what do you want to talk about? Oh, you know, there's a go for story I found. You know, there's a beaver stack, you know, I would like to do that. Yeah, exactly. There's the- oh, there's the story that we haven't- we didn't have time yesterday. We didn't have space for today. The Maga event, the big Maga event that was supposed to happen that had like six VIP tickets. Six and they were only going for a thousand dollars. So it wasn't like they were super expensive. Yeah. And people were like, no, I don't want to see it. Like kid rock. And the- what is it? The bounty dog, the bounty hunter? Dog the bounty hunter. Like, why would you go to see him? By the way, does he sing? Does he do something other than bang on people's doors and he- Well, I mean, well, you know, it is the Trump regime. So maybe they're going to have him try to pick him a grandson of the crowd and throw them on the ground and beat them up. I mean, he lives on the big island still doesn't he? That I don't know. I don't I don't know what dog the bounty hunter. Also, that's funny. If you're going to jump bail on an island, that's kind of stupid. I'm just saying they're going to find you. Yeah. Where are you going

to go? I mean, you know, get in a canoe, paddle harder. Paddle really hard in the Pacific Ocean to Maui. Go Maui, it's still in Hawaii. It's just a different part of Hawaii. Just a different island, but at least you're off the big island. I mean, still still just ridiculous just. Yeah. Almost as ridiculous as the news today, which by the way, remember, you can subscribe to the news on tap for free at the politics bar dot com. It does look like a wave of change is coming. Also, by the way, New Taylor Swift music, just saying that. Yes, she has a new single, but she also has a new album that's in the entertainment section. We'll talk about that a little later. There is, as we mentioned, Dawn Lewis is coming in and a different world, the reboot starts this week. This week. Can I believe we should be voting for a different world in November. You should be voting for a different world now. If you can, if you got early voting or, you know, whatever you got to make your voting plan, look, Trump's war against the press is going on. And long and short, if you look in the first round of the news on tap, tap, eat the homestead

from the new republic has a great piece about the fact that Trump gave away the real reason that he wants to ban outlets that he doesn't like because they don't talk about me so nice. Yeah, whatever. It's going to end up going. We talked about it here a couple of days this week. It's going to end up going to the court. It's going to end up. He'll try to appeal it. It's not going to end up being appealed. It'll end up the same way that it will be that that's the Jim Acosta thing did. It's the bar. Karam exactly, which is you cannot have viewpoint discrimination against an outlet like that. Yes, you can block them from being in the Oval Office, but you can't block them from the press stuff or, and this is the other option because this is Donald and being a jackass. Maybe he'll throw the entire press court off all of them, they'll find and they'll get that back. He's just, he's just craves the camera. Well, yeah, that's just it is that the thing with mom Donnie, I think he noticed that that he was like, I'm like a junkie. And it was

funny because mom Donnie, if you noticed, called on CNN, MS now and Politico. Oh, he did it on purpose. Yeah. I said that yesterday that he knew he was, he knew he was doing and Trump knew he was doing it on purpose. But then as you know, yesterday, Trump was standing there. Mom Donnie was like, he's done and he's and Trump is still standing there, almost like, almost begging for more questions without. And it's like you jackass. Everybody knows that you, yeah, anyway, well basically what has happened, by the way, just now, they have included the exchange with Donald and Kaitlyn Collins. Oh, no, no, that wasn't that wasn't now. That was this morning. Maybe just three minutes ago. So that's yeah, no, no, no, no, that was that was this morning. Okay, because they they they did include that. Yeah, but I think they actually put it into the testimony just now or whatever they're doing with the. Because this is this is this is this evening by now. So I mean, I know that they did that they they they they talked about it earlier this morning because I saw filing at like 11 o'clock this morning or something like that. So whatever social media it is, it might be that's

the thing about social media is that sometimes, you know, it's it's a little bit later in people, people posted like, what did I see? I saw something a story from like two years ago earlier this week. Yeah, me too. And somebody somebody just posted it. Yeah, I looked it up and like, wait, wasn't that two years ago? Well, and then I went and I looked and I looked at the byline and I looked at the update and it said updated, which meant somebody maybe went in and like corrected the spelling error or something. So the system updated it now. But your like, is there any change? There's some sites you can use to see if did a site change from now and nothing significantly changed. Okay, so that makes sense. Yeah, so but somebody made a small like literally somebody can change the spelling error in a two year old article. And then their system updates and it says it was updated today. Right. And then there then another part of their system may say what was updated? We got to push a push a social media alert. And then the social media alert goes out and people think that something actually happened today. And of course, nothing actually happened. Have you seen the point counterpoint with Obama talking to the press his last day in office versus

doubt. Yeah, I saw I saw so brilliantly done. But there's some really good edits out there. I don't I don't disagree that content creators think we were talking about BDD about this as we the content creators can do some great things. The content creators are not journalists and journalists are not content creators. Well, some can be some can be, but it's not a it's not a the two sets are not equally aligned. They're not on top of each other. Yes, some journalists create content. Some journalists just do journalism and write stories or produce videos. And some content creators operate under journalistic standards. But they are not themselves journalists. Right. I happen to have a journalistic degree. I happen to have experience in journalism. So you know, we kind of write that line here a little bit. But I mean, it's anyway, my mom went to school at UCLA thinking that they had a journalism major because that's what she wanted to do. And they didn't at the time. No way. So that's when she went into theatre

arts English. Look, you can I mean, you can have a calm. He did help create the journalism school there, which is kick ass. I love that. You can you can have a comms degree. You can have a journalism degree. You can have degrees that you can have no degree at all. David K. Johnston, who we used to get on Randy show. I mean, but Walter, Walter, Krunkite is I mean, because he later in anyway, but the big one that I look at these days is David K. Because he's still out there. And people still see him. David K has taught journalism. Yet he's never actually gotten a journalism degree. And yet he's one pillager. I think he's got two of them. Yeah. So I'm like, you know, you don't have to. But it takes work to be a journalist. You have to operate by a certain set of standards. And you know, the people who just go, look, I put up a podcast. I'm like, that does not make you a journalist. No, it makes you a podcaster. And I like some of the videos there. Some of some people do really great stuff. But just because you're a video editor also doesn't make you a journalist. Right. Being a candidate,

however, does make you potentially elected, which is good. Yes. New you have pulled today. Democrat now holy 14 point lead among likely voters in the U of pole. The new strength and numbers varicipole. Trump's approval hits a new low of 33%. Democrats now lead the house by 10 in the strength and numbers poll with likely voters. Sabato's crystal ball moved three Senate races. And four governors races. All in the Democrats favor. That's right. Last year, we're going to get the Senate. Oh, yeah. And I'm like, and now I'm like, now it's somewhere between my guesses. It's somewhere between 53 and 56 in the Senate for them. I think so. I think for the house. I'm probably going to say somewhere between two 30 and two 50. Well, when I talked to Kimberly Johnson this morning, how's that? By the way, how is going to be lovely? And the show will be posted tomorrow. But basically, we talked about polling and the Senate and everything. And well, I do know that, you know, Bob and Kimberly

are getting a new house. So that wouldn't surprise me. They are. And it was funny. She gets help all by say hi. I'm like, just open the fridge. Well, but yeah, no, it's I just I kind of, you know, I'm looking at it going, it is more and more looking like a blue tsunami. And yes, as Sarah said yesterday, the Byron Donalds thing scrubbed almost every reference for Trump. He's not the only one. There've been a number of them. But I'm like, yeah, it's like, dude, we know. It's like it's like Susan Collins trying to take, we'll talk about her in a minute, but two minutes. But yeah, take high. Sorry, Susan, you vote with him 90% of the time. 95% of the time. And now you're trying to distance yourself, but he stopped a corruption. Well, the Susan Collins corruption story. There's so much more to that. And and I think, man, it's going to be Sam. Sam Stein says that that he had some stuff going back to 2019. We know Allison Gilhead stuff going back to 2021. Other people are like, oh, yeah, I knew,

I knew I saw me, you know, the other places that you've got, you've got obviously Ohio, the whole Max Miller thing there. Yeah, that's a whole thing. That is a whole thing there where we're kind of like really. Yeah, we and of course, Kansas. Oh my god, the Kansas race now looks South Carolina still looks very good for any Andrews. More better every day. There's a lot of politics. Obviously, the UN going on. We'll talk about that a little bit later, but we do want to talk about a different world. No, I mean, I mean, a better world or at least a different world that you can watch on your television sets drops tomorrow, I believe. Is it really already? I thought it was 24th. Well, we'll ask Don Lewis. Obviously from a different world is rejoining us. She promised she said, look, when the show comes back, I will come back to and sure enough, she is. So, yay, Don Lewis coming here at the politics. Marfreshing your drink, do what you got to do. We'll be back in just a couple minutes. Hang on. We'll be right back after we pay some bills at the politics bar.

It is Wednesday night here at the politics bar. You know where you love her. She's back. The one and only Don Lewis. Yeah, she is here. We're very thrilled. There you go. Wait, that was a lot. So, my computer stuff is just not allowing everybody to get the way they're supposed to do this. Look, everybody's got the cheers. How are you doing, girl? What are you doing? I'm here. Other than the fact of promoting a wonderful show. You promised you promised and you followed through. I love that because you said you said when a different world came back, you said that you would come back and hang out with us. Now, remind us, when does the show pop? When is it when is it actually available for everybody to see? September 24th exactly 39 years to the day that the show originally aired back in 1987, Thursday, September 24th tomorrow. Okay. That's that's scary that it's 30 years, first of all.

39 39 39 young man. Mine since it first aired for me since I booked the gig. I booked the gig in October of 1986. That was when they tapped me. I was doing a Broadway show. I finished the show. They in offered me the opportunity to, well, they didn't offer it. I auditioned for the opera. I had to be in the series and got cast as Jelisa Vincent. At the same time, I also had a recording career. The musical director knew me as a singer-songwriter and he talked to me about writing the theme song for the show. I co-wrote the theme song with him. The producers had no idea that they had hired the same person to do two completely different jobs. That was October of 1985. We started shooting. Does V-Shock the pilot? No, wait a minute. No, wait a minute. No one actually read and be like, don't lose. Don't lose. Don't lose a reason. It's not. It's not lucky me because they probably wouldn't have hired me to do both because once they found out they'd hired the same

person to do two different jobs, I was no longer allowed to sing the theme song. Oh, girl. That's a good one. You would not be a show. Had I been EPAing that show, I would let you do both. Here's, I'm just tossing this out there. We have the new reboot premiering tomorrow. The star of the show is Malia Moon. She's a great singer. Yeah, amazing singer, amazing performer. Right. In Hell's Kitchen, produced by you. She keys. Okay. For me, I would have gone to Alicia Keys and Malia, would you arrange a new version of this theme song? Malia, would you sing it? To me, that's like an incredible marketing. Who sings? Yeah. Who sings? I think is it? Is it? Oh, which yeah, I saw that a while back. I saw it a while back. I love Brandy. I love Brandy. Because Brandy's an amazingly beautiful human being. She's an insanely talented singer.

Yeah, she is. Her self. I'm not mad at that, but I'm just talking about for marketing. I agree. She's a Tony award winner. Right. If you attach all of that for the for the new generation, for the new iteration of what we are doing, to me, I thought that would have been amazing. By the way, when you say 39 years, you still look the same. Yes, this is very kind. Thank you so much. You have not, you look actually better, but as young, I'm going to go with that. Look, look, we, I mean, everybody knows Black Don't Crack. It does bend. It gets a little experience as Jimmy would say. And there's another long, there's another own little experience. But, but honestly, I mean, you know, you look great. We're excited about the show. Did everybody follow through from like, I mean, when did you guys shoot? I mean, how long ago was this shot? It started near

the beginning of this. Yeah. I don't think it started before the time. Okay. So when you were here last year, I mean, we had kind of some of the line up. Who's in the line? Was there some casting changes? I know. I know. I know. Is it in it? Tishina? Tishina Arnold is in it. I love her. Yes. Raven Goodwin was added. Nice. One of the, you know, school teacher, et cetera. And of course, T is playing her daughter's mom. Right. Very, very cool. Elijah Chi is Tishina's daughter. So, but for the most of the rest of the cast, as I got to know them, when we worked together, I only did one episode. Most of us are only in one episode. Cadene, Jasmine, Darrell and Cree, I believe are in more. I'm not sure exactly how many, but it's at least four. I would imagine for each. So all is to sprinkle in the OGs. Absolutely. With the new film tonight, so that the goal is to get people to fall in love with them in the same way they fell in love with us. Exactly. And probably be a distraction if we were there every

episode. If all of us were there, every episode. Not at all. I think sense. If you watched just another show called Stuart can't save the universe or whatever it's called. And it's a spin off of a big bang theory. So they're sprinkling in the OGs from the big bang theory without overpowering us with those. It's the same thing. That's sprinkled in. Yeah. Exactly. Yeah. And I got, I got no issues with that as far as that goes. Because I mean, I'm excited to see some of the new ones. But you know, you're like looking at me like, hey, I can't wait to watch it tomorrow. You know, you know, we're all excited. I'm going to see it for the first time just like everybody else. Oh, you're insane. So I have no idea. People that call me said, girl, what's going to happen? Because they're dropping all 10 episodes. Yeah. It's not. Yeah. So I'm going to sit here with, you know, with some friends of mine. And we're going to chill and we're going to laugh. And we're going to point and we're going to talk and we're always important. I really am. Some people had nothing but

anything. Okay. So, so I got to ask you tomorrow, what social media handles should we all like, you know, post that way we can go do another season. Another, this is great. Do another season. Yeah. If you like it, love it. Seriously. Yeah. You can do it on Netflix and go, I love it on Netflix. Exactly. And if you don't love it, if there are things that you wish, oh, can we see this? Can we see that? Let's get a second season. Yeah. And we can see that. I think we should all be honest because that's the only way that we get better. Uh, when our show first started, people did not really care for the show. We loved it. Oh, no. First season. Uh, people did not really care for the show. We would, uh, the Cosby was our lead in. Right. And that's a quite good lead in at the time. You couldn't have asked for it. Right. Right. So because of his contract with with the network, we got a second chance. We got a second season. And Mr. Cosby, even the people that were working on the show realized that something needed to be addressed. So they brought in

Debbie Allen. Yes, they did. Exactly. And so we got the opportunity to make something that was good, even better. So all I would ask for the, for the viewers that are watching the new reboot. If there are things you love about it, fantastic. Or if you're things that you're challenged with, then give it a chance. Encourage the network. Encourage Netflix. Do a season two, just just like we got a second chance from there. So yeah. I watched the first season. I loved it. And then I loved everything after that. So yeah, but I mean, I remember back in the day. I was like, I liked it, but then again, you know, to me, I mean, it was, it was, that was, it's so weird looking at, especially because of all of the stupid ass racism and misogyny and bigotry that we are all dealing with under the, you know, second Trump regime. Because I remember the late 80s and early 90s and I remember Arseneo and I remember in living color. I remember different world. I remember Cosby showing.

And I'm like, this was all, yeah, it was a Midwestern white boy, but I was like, hey, you know, I mean, you know, this, this is perfect. I'm like, this is where we should be going. And now we're, you know, 30, toss years later. And you got some of these idiots going. I'm like, no, that's, that's, that's not the way to go. That is. I don't know what to do. So that was never good. Been there, done, done that. Yeah. Look around, look around the world. Look at the Olympics. I love it because it used to be in the Olympics that especially for the winter Olympics. If you looked and it was a black person, you were like, well, it's probably the US, the, the UK, maybe Australia. Right. You were like, yeah, maybe it's maybe just making Bob's lead team. Otherwise, probably not so much. And then like this last one, it was like that there were people of different origins, but for different teams. I think I saw, um, uh, like, uh, somebody of Asian

background for European country. And I was like, cool. And because they'd immigrated. It doesn't make sense. Right. The whole rest of the world is going that direction. Well, we're like, well, just mix it all up and we'll just pick the best people for the team. I'm like, well, yeah, that makes sense. That, that would, that would be forward motion. And yet you got like the UN now, this week where you got Donald up there being people were laughing at him and walking out on him. Yeah. Donald shaking her head on that. I don't, I don't, he doesn't. I, I, I have no words for that. Well, no, but you know, it's, it's all about the season. Marissa Tomay was on our show, uh, to show the inclusiveness of everybody. The doors open to anyone who wants a quality education in that kind of environment. So it was beautiful to have Marissa there and their characters, non African American characters on the show Asian Latino, all of them, you know,

right? And through, human came up through a different world because that's the world that we're living in. It really is. There are so few, you're hard pressed to find a pure, anything anywhere on the planet anymore. Right. He's got some combination of some other culture in their bloodline. Right. You know, I mean, because of inner marriage, inner racial children, you know, all of that, all of that. You go, you go to, you go to, you go downtown Howard. I mean, you go on the campus, which, um, you know, I can't remember. She's still teaching there. Debbie still teaching there. Not. Debbie Ellen, but Felicia was teaching. Felicia was teaching there. Debbie, I've had Debbie did for a while and then they went to that they both went to Howard. I thought she, but I thought she was back there too because I thought they both, I mean, Howard's been getting like just the most amazing, and I mean, they've always had pretty amazing instructors, but they've been getting some just, you know, bang up ones, but just as a regular person who doesn't go to Howard, you walk down to Howard, you walk across the campus and it's, you know, it looks like America. So I'm like, that's perfectly fine. So I just, you know, looking at like, I've noticed this,

I don't know if you've noticed this, Joe, I don't know if you've noticed this, don't. When the Obama's were in the White House and you would go to the grocery store and you would see the, yeah, some of them were the trash tabloids and some of them were like the Oprah magazine and that's fine, but you would see, you know, Oprah magazine for a while was just Oprah on every cover. Here I was. Hey, Oprah, let's her magazine. Right. Exactly. But, but, but, but you, but you go and you see, and it's like when it was the Obama's, you would see like this, it looked like the magazine stand at the checkout looked like America. And then in the first Trump regime, he came in and he got a little bit more white. And I was like, okay, no, no, no. And Biden and Harris got in and it got a little bit more color in that again. And now you go up to the stands again and orange. Well, there's that too. But, and I was like, I'm like, and how people don't think that that influences that like who we elect influences our appearances, our decisions, our choices. And

especially now, like with this merger, this, this paramount merger, what's, I mean, this is, do you have thoughts? You know, I'm doing my best to wait and see. Me too. I'm out in Bosch. I really am. One of the shows I do Star Trek Lower Decks, the animated show. You should be on with Mary Trump and Bob Seska because they do Star Trek politics. You should be on with them. Well, let's help set me up with them. But I will lower lower Decks, carrying on in the Rodinberry tradition of inclusion and diversity through galaxies, through genders, through, I mean, even robots, all of it. The Rodinberry format, the Rodinberry world universe is the world I want to belong to. Yeah. Okay. Paramount Plus has all things Trek is a round plus. But they also have

an, an, an edict that every show only gets five seasons. Then after that, regardless of how successful it is, the plug gets pulled. Which is no sense. Yeah. Really? Especially if the show is a hit and the fans are there. And there's more material. Like one of the other shows I do voices for it is the Simpsons. The Simpsons has been on the air for close to 40 years. Yeah. Right. Oh, right. Here's another show I do is Futurama. Three years. It's run and canceled on and canceled on and canceled. So I don't understand when something is a hit for you. Why you would cut off your nose despite your own face and shut it down. It angers fans. Yeah. I mean, it hinders viewership and hinders subscriptions, et cetera. So I don't know if the merger is going to address any of those kinds of policies and, and, and, of, of limits as opposed to thinking of, um, content success and

viewership and support for your platform. I don't, I don't know. I'm not quite sure. Uh, I don't you're withholding judgment for now until you until, yeah, we'll come down in the wash. Mm hmm. Um, all of this buying up and mergers. It's wrong. And one person's name being at the top controlling everything is a little frightening. It is very much so. It is for me too. But I also, I also look at it, you know, coming from the political corner. Oh, yeah, we have no marshes. Don't worry. But my, my, my whole thing, the worry about it is a lot of us trusted AG Rob Bonta to stand up and make sure it's happened. Eleven other AGs. So they all just blame it on him. I know, but I'm like, folks, don't cave. It's, you know, so, well, we, we, we talked about that more. We, we, we, we got more stuff to talk about. Obviously, we got to talk about your foundation, which is a good thing. Look, Don Lewis is here. Uh, don't worry about this. The politics for right now, most of it can wait because, you know, look, you got a friend here. She's back. We're going to talk more about

some of the things that she is doing and how you can help out and make things a little bit better where you are. Fresh in your drink and come right back. It's Wednesday night here at the politics bar. Hang on. We'll be right back after we pay some bills at the politics bar. Wednesday night here at the politics bar. Thank you, everybody who joins us from whatever corner of the bar you are. Remember, you guys can get the podcast if you miss it on the radio. If you subscribe, $6 a month, all of that every week night and weekday, check it out. It's a good deal. It's there at the politics bar dot com, which by the way, don't lose this here at the politics bar dot com hanging

out with us, which is I always love. First of all, I just I I like your acting. I like your stuff on Star Trek. I love your stuff in a different world. I like pretty much anytime I see you or hear you because you I mean, you've done a lot of voice work. Obviously, like you said, Simpsons and Futurama. Exactly. But it's always kind of fun where you're like, hey, you know, that person is hung out with us at the bar. That's really cool. And it's, you know, so you see, you know, that kind of thing. But it's also, you know, when when we have different actors and who come in here and hang out, one of the things we like to do is find out what else that you're doing because politics isn't just about voting, although that's important. I know you're I know you're registered. I know you're going to vote. You got a plan to vote. Yes. Yes. Absolutely. So you've gone knows just like rest of us, but there's also it's the way that you affect your communities. It's the way that you help them out and power the people in communities build your community better. That is a large part of what politics is all about. And it's not just about people who are elected. No. Fernando,

I'm back in the East. It used to she's more involved in politics. She still is, but less involved in acting now. She's called herself an activist. I've heard that. Yes. I'm kind of fit for you, Dawn. I think that would and that is kind of what you do. I mean, you know, you've got your foundation. We've got the link to it there in the guest section at the news on tap. Well, you know, it's it makes it easy for people to to get involved and to check out the new day foundation because look, it's what we talked about it last year when you were here. It's a great way to help out underserved youth and help them out around the country. And you got a few events this last year. You you guys have teamed up with top golf since the last time we talked. We did. We did a national hearing LA for about two or three years. We did a program. It was a proof of concept where we wanted to improve communication between teen boys and their father or father figure because not every boy has their biological right. They have a step parent and uncle or coach

a mentor. Somebody who stands in the gap for that young man and after doing it three years, partly success as we hear in LA, I approached top-both national and so we want to do this. We want to take this program across the country because we've seen the effect it has on the relationship and the communication between the team and the that stands in their life. And we want to take this around the country. So we partnered with top golf this year. We started with LA. We went to Atlanta and then we went to Chicago with a hundred participants in each city. So it was 25 boys in their male adult person, 25 girls and their mother or mother figure. So we got the four boys and girls and we use we use golf as an icebreaker because golf can be a real equalizer. Yeah. You may be the parent, you may be the child, but leave a one of your consuling a club. So we're going to put everybody in the same level. We were fortunate. Top golf not only assisted us with discounting the

facility, but they also threw in a couple of instructors and partnered with an organization called First T that also teaches underserved communities golf, the game of golf, the etiquette of golf, the opportunities that lie within the game of golf and Calaway. Calaway clubs, these clubs in every single city that we could award to deserve. That's really cool. Playing golf and be affiliated with something that can bond them together is always and also to expand their mental options of what is available to them. Because games golf and tennis people say wow, it's just way too expensive. That's that's not for someone with with my skin color. That's, somebody else's playground that somebody else's opportunity. We do everything we can to make sure know that is not true. You can do and participate in whatever you're willing to prepare yourself to participate in. The William Sisters? I mean, obviously no, Saki, I'm Saka. I mean, you've got

you've got a lot of. Hey, Tiger Woods has his issues, but come on. Well, still, but I'm just just chance you got Tiafo. I mean, you know, fair to fall, which is always good and Ben and, and you know, it's how I mean, the thing is is that depending on where you're at, when it comes to golf, like here in DC, the thing that kills me is is that we had a really good public course. We're having. And Donald is all trying to take it over and mess it up because of, you know, he wants to, that's like, oh my, but that public course is where a lot of the underserved people in the DC area could afford. It's public. It's inexpensive. They could afford to go out there. It would be perfect. And look, our affiliate there at Chicago WCPT, I'm sure some of those folks, you know, know your foundation, know the a new day foundation and know that, you know, hey, this is a good program. So I'm. I also, I hope so because we are looking to be connected and stay connected across the country. What is what we are facing now is one of the things that we

are committed to at the new day is to offer everything free of charge. Nice. All of our fund raising is geared toward providing scholarships, providing the workshops, paying whatever and admission fees and the insurance, paying for the food, paying for the workshop materials. What we need the young people to do is to find out about our programs, register online and commit to showing up. Because, like I said, every dollar we raise goes towards providing these opportunities. So if child registers and then because it didn't cost them anything, it's like, I don't feel like going. I'm tired or whatever. That's my spent that could have been spent on someone else that was willing to show up. What we are faced with now is with this current administration, majority. I would say close to 90% and that's not an exaggeration of the dollars that we used to count on to be able to support community engagement programs whether it was corporate or federal funding or support. Most of those programs have been cut.

They have been sort of weighed with private money because of the debt. That's rust road over OMB. He is the guy who constantly, oh, he wants to help other people. Oh, well, no, no. And he's going around. He's one congresses money supposed to go here and he's like, no, I'm going to ignore that. And it's like they have to keep going back to court and being like, Russ, your job is to execute the thing you're told to do. You don't have the control. He's right. So it's been challenging. It has absolutely been challenging. So please, this may be a shameless plug, but if you're listening. Please do. And you want to help. You want to, you want to contribute. Go to our website, a newdayfoundation.net. If you've got $5, $50, $50, $50,000, whatever, no, seriously, no, I'm watching. There's somebody with deep pockets out there. No, I was wondering what to do with this with this 20 grand before the end of the year. I'd rather give it away.

Yeah, it's a good charitable donation. So, right. A charitable donation. It's a good one. See three. See four. Right. Yeah. Exactly. Well, that's, that's the thing is that, I mean, we're seeing that throughout a lot of places is that it used to be shows like ours. It used to be, you know, organizations like yours would feel a little bit maybe, you know, God, I don't want to ask for the money necessarily, whatever. And now that there seems to be a lot more of the building, not just of the political blue wave, but also as far as anybody who is not MAGA saying, you know what, if you do happen to have money, you do need to get in the game. You do need to fund programs like the ones that you host there. I think you're a new day foundation or, you know, help out your favorite left-leaning radio, left-leaning, whatever podcast, whatever it is. They're actually what is we've got a story in the news on tap today talks about. Some of the Democratic Party folks are saying to some of the further left-leaning people, they're saying you liberal folks were all about L. Syed, you are

all about this candidate over here and this candidate over there and that's fine, but you got your own packs. You got to step up and put that money up too because the Republicans are swamping us with money with these MAGA folks to try to get in there to keep cuts coming to programs like yours. So and it's interesting watching some of these liberals go, I thought everybody else was going to carry the water. It's like, no, that's not how this goes. You got to step up and be part of the solution and you know, if you can help out by doing work, by volunteering, that's fine, but if your thing is, you know, you got a nice fact, bankroll, well then, you know, stroke the checks. Tom Steyer. Right. Tom. I'm just saying. That's a good idea. Drinking. Well look, now people should, people should get involved. Are there other ways or there ways that people can volunteer on if they want to get involved? Absolutely. All on the website. So if you take a look and see what programs are coming up and see what city we are in more often than not, I won't, I'm we're here in

LA because I'm here in LA and selfishly, I really love engaging with the young people that we support. So if I'm here in town, if I'm not on set, if I don't have to be out of the country or out of the state somewhere, but if I am out of the state or am out of the country, guess what, all of our programs are portable. So hit it. Yeah. If you know, I'm coming to North Carolina to do some filming, let's get a school. Let's get a few schools together. Yeah. Nice. Carolina and create a program and do something there. So those are the kinds of things that I do. I'm everywhere. And camp and drone drone experience. We did a coding program for elementary school children grades five and six through the frost and this at school year, we work with an organization called HBCU Heroes where we provide monthly virtual workshops for currently enrolled HBCU students. We're going to be getting geared

up for that again. Now that school has started, you know, for the end of this semester going into the spring. So those are the kinds of things that we do every year. The scholarship conference will be in May in Los Angeles in 2027. So people should start looking going to site now and if they want to apply for the scholarships, they should start looking ahead. Well, the scholarship is part of the conference. So it just apply for the scholarship just to get money. It's one of the perks of participating in the program. So the conference is going to be in May. We haven't set the actual date yet. So keep an eye out on the website. It should be up before Christmas. Where the conference is going to be and it's for high school juniors and seniors and their parents. So we have workshops for the entire family. So don't worry student, your parent will not be on your hit all day long. It's part of the campus having their own workshops. You will be with your cohorts and your peers in another part of the campus having your workshops. But it's high school

juniors and seniors, their parent and college freshmen and sophomores. So it's that four year demo. Two years getting ready for college and the first two years I'm here now. What? So it's almost like a little bit of bringing a different world like into the real world. Exactly. Which is is I'm just excited actually that the show that the reboot is on. We will get to see you and some right and some of the yeah. I'm going to wait to a weekend. I don't know if you will have to wait to I have to wait to the weekend. I have to wait to the last year tomorrow. Just like the rest of the world. I will see it then just like the rest of the world. We should actually we should one one second one more about go ahead. Conference that's when you can apply to compete for one of the scholars. Hey men. No, you have to attend the conference. You have to apply and at the conference we will award anywhere from six to 12. Now you shower scholarships and a brand new laptop for college enrolled students. So if you're high school student graduating and you've been accepted

through Howard, USC, Yale, Georgetown, wherever that's where we send the money. So if you're high school junior attending you can also compete for one of our achievement awards. We got the details on that we got the details on that on the website. They are linked to your site to the a new day foundation. Don Lewis, thank you so very much. We're coming back and hanging out with come back hang out again on another time. I'll get you connected with Bob Saskatoon. I'm going to connect you with Bob. Yeah, you know, we got to connect our star trade people, right? Absolutely. It's a lot of people that say we're praying for that. I hope that the new path for can't wait. We will. We will. Bob, we love you. Thank you so much for joining us. This podcast is supported by your Southern California Kia dealers. Thank you, by the way, everybody, who is hanging out with us from the first hour, as this is our number two hour dose. We're politics bar. Bob Seska will be in. We also have to get to that drink of the day. Thank you, by the way, everybody who is listening from our great radio affiliates, like AM950, Minneapolis, SAE, Paul, or the D2RToc in Tennessee. Maybe you are listening on Georgia now radio in the ATL or WCPT AMA 20 Chicago, or maybe you are listening on progressive voices radio worldwide, somewhere else on the planet, or maybe you are one of our many and various future people. Hi, Seth. Listening on your favorite podcast player, Hey, Seth. Hey, Julie. Oh, by the way, speaking of Julie and Tom, who are always about the drink of the day. Tom, speaking of the drink of the day, he says, I want the sound of the Jetsons flying car for I know right. He sent it over in the sub-stack corner of the bar. He actually sent a little video,

which some of these EVs, you can like the BMW car, you can actually change the sound of it. And some guy, the video that he sent, like I got, I'll put it out on the other socials. I was so late. I had it. I would totally do that. Yeah, it's, it's, wait, because it's so funny, because it just sounds like the car from the Jetsons. Which, by the way, is, it's a hint. There's a reason why we're talking about that. For what is the drink of the day and what is the inspiration for the drink of the day? Since we've been talking about TV shows today. Okay, the drink of the day is a space-john, smash cocktail, or mocktail inspired by the Jetsons cartoon premiered today in 1962. 64 years ago, September 23rd, 1962. It's cool. I like, I like the background, the background history you got. I tweaked a couple of the things because some of the, some of the stuff that the other guy had, that were you'd borrowed some of the stuff from him. His links were a little burnt, but I changed and I updated a couple of them, which is cool. I also stuck in the opening.

If you like the Jetsons and you have not heard the opening of the one. Oh, I love that opening. It's so great. You guys can watch it and let's do it. No, remember. George Jetson. Danit, Danit, Danit. We all know that one. Everybody in the bar knows that one. There were actually multiple different iterations of the Jetsons, by the way. There's the original one. There's only 24 episodes of the original one. It seems like it went on forever. Well, because it kept getting replayed and rerun on Saturday mornings. On Saturday mornings, exactly. And then they did some different ones in the 80s. They did a couple of, but look, there's some real things. There's some people who are mad. I mean, oh, we didn't have this type of stuff. We now have functional jetpacks. We now have flying cars. I stuck this video in because there is this bizarre robot made. Yeah, there is. No, it's not quite rosy, but it is. I mean, the future has arrived. It just arrived, unfortunately, with some Nazis. Somebody should have made sure that they did not make it through the chronological teleporter or whatever.

Yeah, anyway. So, but look, the Jetsons was very cool. Do you realize that most people didn't see it in color at first? I did not know that. I did not know that either. I mean, I get granted 62. Most people didn't have a color television. That's why. That's why. Even though they broadcasted in color, most people still saw it in black and white. And here's the funny thing. The Jetsons, they're still looking at doing. In fact, there's a piece from the today. Yeah, with Jim Carrey. That is from like just a couple of weeks ago that they are looking at actually rebooting it now. Which I'm carrying. Jim would be great as George. I think it'd be good. I'm curious to see who they get for the rest of the cast. I'm not sure. Jane, who would we get for Jane? For his wife. I'm a frustrated casting director, so I'll figure it out. Well, for his daughter, I'm thinking maybe McKenna Grace. Oh, I was possible. I'm not sure you get for Elroy, but

Kid. Well, yeah. Oh, McKenna Grace is now. Maybe she might be too old because she's like, like, 18. Something like that. Yeah, because his boy Elroy, daughter, Judy, Jane, his wife, it's a fun drink. It's a fun drink. The space gin smash cocktail or cocktail, whichever. And since we're talking about TV, as we did earlier with the we did. And of course, we'll have to tell Bob that, you know, he can contact on and oh, no, I'm so I'm there. I'm feeling her people right now. Oh, yeah. Lord, he'll be freaked to be like lower texts. The captain, no way. So that'd be, yeah, it'd be fun. Um, how do we make the drink? Did you know how do we make a space gin smash cocktail or a cocktail? Okay, what you need is a pre-chilled double, oh, fashion glass. So it's a double. It's a very thick glass. Right. Just to let you know, shaker muddler, we're muddling again. Ice, six mint leaves, two green seedless grapes. Okay. Very specific. Um, one lemon wedge for the cocktail, one and a half ounces of

London dry gin or any gin that you prefer. The mocktail is one and a half ounces of liars gin alternative. Okay. Then you have a half ounce of simple syrup, which is simple. Uh, one slice of green apple. Okay. And then this is the muddling part. I mean, the muddling part is all in there. Well, you got the garnish too. The garnish is mint sprig, green seedless grape and an apple slice. So it looks almost like a salad. I get it. It does. It's, you know, it's, it's very healthy. So how do we, how do we put all of this together? Okay, you're going to add the mint lemon wedge and your two grapes. Add a simple syrup to your shaker. And then you muddle them expressing the juice and the oils from everything. Got it. So you're basically trying to, to make like a, uh, uh, a minty, lemony, grapey syrup of sorts in a bottle of the model. Exactly. Exactly. And then you muddle them together, expressing the jubila, add the gin or the alternative and ice and then you shake it until it's cold. Okay. And then you strain it into a rocks glass over your, you know, double, uh,

over crack. Whatever ice you got cracked pebbles, small cubes, the smallest cubes is better because how it's going to taste. Right. Uh, and then you garnish with a mint sprig, one grape and a slice of apple. Very cool. That is, uh, it may seem like it's an old timey drink, but I think it's a little futuristic and there's, look, it goes along with the TV theme today. Obviously, you know, uh, different world, the Jetsons, uh, you know, Jetsons were a different world. This is true. That correct. Jody is right. If you miss any part of the drink of the day, you guys know what to do. You can subscribe at thepoliticsbar.com. And the news on tap for today. Yes, we have some of the entertainment stuff. We won't hit that much of it because we, you know, we've been talking about other things about politics. But there is a few things. Obviously, uh, we've got a couple of pieces on the, uh, a different world reboot from Netflix. You guys can read those. Taylor Swift has her, uh, new album coming out Friday. Lionel Richie is postponed is tour dates. Is he okay? Uh, hopefully he had a little bit of a heart scar.

It looks like so, which is kind of scary. I would. And Ella Langley's song, Choose and Texas. Have you heard that one? No. It's been on the radio like, what's it's April basically? Finally, Unceded Mariah Carey's All I Want for Christmas is the longest running number one song in the billboard hub. When I'm Mariah will Unced her come Christmas. Yeah. Well, uh, I think uh, Kira Swisher is, uh, liking is wanting to have the Ellison's be on seated. She's leaving CNN. Had a girl. She's supposed to be doing a, uh, uh, multiple season special series. She's like, nope, I'm done after one. I'm out. Um, uh, she said she'd rather work for Rupert. And at last, check I heard the Ellisons maybe trying to bring in, uh, Elon. On the whole parent. Yeah, I'm like, this is just stupid. This is. Okay, that's after the settlement. So Rob had no, Rob Bonta had no idea about that. He should have known because it's the Ellisons. He should have known. Well, they're wealthy. Like stupid wealthy. So what did they eat? Elon. I don't know, but I'm looking at it going.

I, uh, there are Democrats that I'm mad at. Gavin Newsom. I'm really mad at. I don't want to see. I want to see Gavin Newsom retire and do something else. Have a private foundation. Do something else. I will, we'll talk about that tomorrow. But Gavin, you should, you should sit down now and let some of the others go. Because honestly, if you look in the news on tap in the campaigns, polls and politics, we were saying earlier here in the show that Democrats are doing really well. And Republicans are, they're being, they are terrified. They're terrified about the economy. And there's more bad economic news today. And the third round under the failed Republican economy, the 10 year treasury yield lept to a fresh 19 year high today. Invest in G bills right now, kids. Yeah, I mean, if you've got, if you've got the ability, if you've got the ability to do it, do it now because, what do you hear about Donald saying that he wants to ban diesel exports? Yeah, didn't Chuck Grassley say that? Yeah, except for the fact that banning diesel exports is not going to bring down the prices and the oil corporations themselves are the ones who are like, yeah, that's not going to work.

That's not going to do what you think it will. Something that we'll do what we fear it will, though, the prediction market, CalShi, is asking the CFTC, the consumer financial, yeah. They want to allow people to trade a bet on borrowed funds. It's leveraging, which is how we got into the Great Depression. My great, great grandfather was super duper wealthy, really, but over leveraged. So in 29, 1929, yeah, he lost everything. Right now, they're saying some of the warning signs are some of the same that they were in 2008, and before that one, and also in 1929. So I'm like, great. I mean, that's a betting thing and not an investment thing. So it's slightly different. Never, never, never can one for the other. Right. But I mean, literally, Frank Jones, Frank C. Jones, my great-grandmother's, my mom's side,

my great-grandmother's side of the family. He was super wealthy in Belleville, Arkansas. He owned most of the town, but he was over leveraged. So when the crash happened, all of a sudden, they were dirt poor. God, that is just... People got to watch out for that stuff. Yeah, I mean, my dad... Well, it's because they're so corrupt. Obviously, we talked about the Susan Collins corruption thing. That story keeps building, and we know about that. Then you've got some of the other ones in that third round, under the regime from Hell section. New reporting confirms the Trump Ballroom Architect Resign last year after Trump clashed with him over safety code issues. Apparently, Donald at one point literally screamed this. I am the... I am the code. He's what he said. It's like, no, okay, honey. Okay, in Ballroom, are you going to have a fireplace and bad electricity? Because we know he builds things poorly.

That's the thing, though. If he builds it like crap, it'll burn down. Well, but that'll mean that it'll be easier for us to tear down. To tear down. Because we'll say, I'm sorry, but it's a safety risk. You built it like poop, so congratulations. Now we have to get rid of it. I'm worried about the bunker. The bunker, I think, will... I think that's probably okay because it's underground. It's already built, but I mean... Well, but that's also the military stuff. So they have different standards for some of the military stuff. Underground, then they do some of the stuff that is above ground. And hey, Bob Seska's here. Hey, hey, hey, hey. Audit Ballroom. See, we're talking about Ballroom. We're talking about Ballroom. We're talking about the fact that Donald's Ballroom might be really crappy. Because he's got the whole thing going. When he was talking with the architect, sit there and say, no. Yeah, no, he's... I am the code. Right, exactly. That's ridiculous. You know what?

I have this crazy theory that he's deliberately sabotaging future administrations. No, it's going to be torn down. It's going to be torn down. It's going to be torn down. It's going to be torn down. That's all I have to say. The cartoon says, I'm going to tear everything down. Right. Yeah, I love the graphic that you had. For the Bob Seska Show podcast yesterday about Jody just taking a sledgehammer to that stupid art. A lot of us want to look at you. I'm like, AI is good when it comes to that. Yeah. I mean, yeah, well, it also helps to have somebody... Maybe more muscular, so I'm all with that. Also helps to have somebody who's an actual artist like the one the older Bob Seska, who can actually kind of manipulate those things. Bob's making it with us here. We got to talk to you about the politics stuff. Also, congratulations on your house. Oh, thank you. Awesome. By the way, Dawn Lewis, you know, one of the Star Trek captains, she says hello. She wants to talk to you. We'll talk about that in the break here. Oh my God. Look at that. She wants to be right there. And that way, a pace unbills at the politics bar.

It is Wednesday night here at the politics bar. Yes, he's back. You regular's no him. You love him. The idea of a Bob. What do you think? That's right. Bob Seska is back in the bar. And we love that he is. Thank you very much for hanging out with us here tonight, Bob. Absolutely. My pleasure. Glad to be here. It's been a trial of the day to be honest with you. I had to, I want to be the major pieces of equipment that I use, the roadcaster. Did a forced update and then it had some issues. Oh my God. Yeah, I know what you mean, because we've had, I think it's one of, are we in Mercury and Retrograde or something like that? And tech issues too, is your house? Yeah, I know. I'm not here, but I normally talk to Drift Glass on this day, every three weeks from the professional app podcast. And he was having internet problems. So we had to have him on by phone. Oh wow. He uses telephone to dial in to connect. And we had an issue with the internet yesterday with David Ferguson. Yes, we did.

My show. Oh, Jesus. You know, you know what my suggestion is for you, Bob? My suggestion is for you to move. Just find a different place. Move. Get in it. Yeah, I'll have my, not my pro, the internet wasn't on my end. So I'm just saying if you move, I mean, but also you're going to move. So I'm going. And by the way, congratulations on your new house, which is, oh, thank you. Yeah, Kimberly said me, ask me to tell you, hi. Oh, okay. Yes, I will even though she's just in the other room. Return to her. Yeah, when I step outside through that door right over there. I told her just open the refrigerator door. That's it. But that's right. Yeah, well, I mean, here's the thing. Rents are getting higher and higher and higher. And so people are having to move farther and farther away from metropolitan areas in order to be able to afford to have a decent place to live. And so that's where we're in that boat for sure. So we're moving more in a more distant location from the district.

But which, if that's what I call it, I call DC the district. It is a health district. Well, but I mean, you see, he lives in the metro and I live in the metro. We are not technically in the district because that means that you're inside the beltway. That's a little bit different, which is close enough. I mean, you know, yeah. So if I say, well, people ask me where do you live? I say Washington DC. It's just easier. It's easier. When you say, when you say the specific town, then everybody's like, oh, where the hell is that? Well, you're still in town. And now you're going to be in a bedroom community. You're going to be a, as opposed to a ballroom community, which that's. All of that, all of that stuff's still going on today. The most recent thing that that, Jody, you didn't know about this. No, I saw the story. I didn't put it in today is because we didn't have a space for it. We'll put it in for tomorrow in the news on tap that Donald wants to rename the Ford theater and they've been looking at it to the Trump theater, which. No, oh my god. No, no, no, no, no. My personal thing is like, look, I mean, if you're going to do that kind of thing, the Ford theater has a history.

I'm not suggesting it, but I'm just saying, you know, it would, it's kind of like probably not a good idea. Carmichael, although, you know, he's got bad karma all around anyway, but I'm going, that's just not a point. So he renamed it. Will he go in there? I actually have a theory for what he's thinking right now with his adult Swiss cheese of a brain. Okay. And your theory is, my theory is that he thinks Ford theater, Ford's theater is named for former president Gerald Ford. I think you're right. Oh my god. And so therefore he thinks, well, if one president's name is on there, I mean, if Gerald Ford put his name on the theater, why can't I? I think you're right. God. So that might be, you might be right, which is just absolutely stupid. But it would go on with his, I want to rename the Kennedy Center for myself. And I want to rename the, what? I agree. I think you're right. I'm partly joking, but it wouldn't surprise me if that had been the case. Yeah. Yeah.

I don't know. We don't know anymore. What else do you do? What do you say? Well, I mean, he seems to think that doing all these things, putting his name on all of these landmarks and, you know, the Kennedy Center and putting, building all these eye sores and around DC, I think he thinks these things are going to be somehow permanent that no one in the future will tear them all down. Oh, we will. I think that some future Democratic president in 2029 will say, you know what, we have to move forward not and we not look backward and leave all that stuff up when that's one of the things that I have been saying. It is, it's screaming louder and louder and louder to me. And it's not the difference, isn't difference isn't between being liberal and central. So we talked about that throughout this, this election season. There are 40, he wasn't 41 days left, 42 days left in this election season, 41 days left. And we made sure that everybody knows that he is not about, you know, whether you are progressive or liberal or a centrist or whatever. And most of the voters clearly don't care. That's that much is nice.

But we also need to make sure that we don't let some of the Democrats who have traditionally been involved in the past continue to get in and continue to go where they clearly want to go if they're not willing to move things forward. My issue, this is another story for tomorrow, but Newsom, so there is a bill that was passed. Don't get me started on him right now. There's a bill that was passed in the California legislature that would have basically made sure that if somebody from another state wants to grab basically somebody who is trans for whatever reason, yank them to their state for legal things, kind of goes along with the abortion thing. It's the same thing. If people and Newsom vetoed it, it's like, dude, and his past history of finding melee mouth positions more and more and you know, I'll invite before he died. Charlie Kirk on my face, like, dude, seriously, I know he's not going to be president after this.

Now, once again, like Donald Trump sabotaging his own party in advance of the midterms, it seems like Gavin Newsom did this to sabotage his own chances of becoming president because of what a ridiculous, ridiculous veto. Because it was the veto was also like saying that abortion doctors can be extradited to other states. No, no, no, no. The bill said no, they can't be. And now he's vetoed a bill that said, and he was all about not extraditing people. So what the, yes, so what will happen here is and what is happening, is if people travel to California to get an abortion, or people travel to California to get gender-affirming care, right, those people could ostensibly be extradited back to the wherever state they came from, where those things are illegal. And what this bill would have done is, it's the government, the governor of the power to be able to

agree to that extradition. And so now those people become vulnerable to being extradited back to their home state, where they can be brought up on charges. And now that you tell me that that's the reason, I think the reason is because he wants the governors to have power. Yes, that's it. That was his actual, that was his stated reason. He was like, this strips power away from the governor of California, whoever that governor maybe, and I get that, but at the same time, other governors could be those people. Yeah, that's why it's like you idiot. I just, I, I, I, I, I don't take any sense. It's, no, it's, it's an affront to women. It's an affront to young girls. It's a friendly, a friendly, a friendly, yeah, no, no, no, no, I trans people as well, obviously. Absolutely. So I'm just like, no, he's going to get a lot of flack for this. And he should, he should. This is the worst veto he's ever done. He's got so much, he, he just, it's, it's, it's, it's an ad up thing. Meanwhile,

you got JB Pritzker out there who's like, look, he's awesome. Taking GLP ones, I'm talking about it because I want other people to, well, for him, he says, it's about health. And he wants people to know that not to be ashamed if you're taking it for health, which is fine. Yes. You know, so I, I like Pritzker. I like, I know that Carlos loves Westmore and West is out there. He's, West is pushing the, the, the, the gerrymandering thing, which, I don't know, anybody here that any, the updates on that thing. Have you been paying attention to that, Bob? The whole, yeah, not just, if you're in Maryland, it's just a little bit. Well, there's a little in Maryland thing because they're going to put it in through the, the Maryland legislature and they'll push it up through and then, then the people have to vote on whatever. I mean, the last I heard was that it's full steam ahead for the Maryland jerrymandering. It is, it is. And it might get one more seat, except remember, none of these jerrymanders are hardcore. We have been seeing in states from Texas to Florida where they thought they were going to take five seats in Texas. Now they're like, we might be lucky to get two.

And Florida, I think they, they thought that they were going to take, what was it? Gavin or something like that. Now they're like, we might be lucky to get three. I mean, you know, because they, they screwed themselves, they dummy-mandered themselves first. So there's that. There's, there's, there's that. But then there's also like Missouri where they, they haven't learned the lesson, which it's, so last night late, it had a, they started this stuff to go to the Supreme Court and I think early this morning it went to the Supreme Court. And at some point, I am fairly sure Justice Drinking McRapes a lot, a, a, a, a, a, a, a, a, will strike it down like he did the other two times. Because he's like, because he's like, look, your state Supreme Court said that you don't get to insert in the new bias jerrymandered map for the Republicans. It has to go to the people of Missouri. That's what your state law says. That's what the state Supreme Court says. And yet some of the Trump or people went to the eighth district circuit court. This is the third time that will have

end up in the Supreme Court. And the third time likely that Kavanaugh will have to smack it down and be like, look, Missouri sent out their mail ballots on Friday. It's five days. Yeah, exactly. With Jody's five days, exactly. Five days, they've been sending them out every day since for anybody who requested the mail in ballot. You can't then say, well, you know, it's going to take us at least another week or so to redesign the ballot and then get these recent out. No, you're 41 days from here. And technically, once those ballots are sent out, the election starts. It's not a single day. Exactly. Thank you. Yeah. Right. Thank you. Thank you. So yeah, I'm just like, Jesus, man, just it's just the dumbest dumbest and all for what? The more that Republicans have pushed this jerrymandering thing to try to steal seats, the more that people are pissed off at them. Yeah. And to me, the, the new something of, of vetoing that bill is kind of the flip side of

that coin of going people want Democrats to stand up more. This, this, this is not about, you know, though, the power of the government. No, whatever you have to do to stand up for the people. Yeah, Gavin Newsom thinks it's still February of 2025 when it's February of 20. I'm sorry, 1999. Oh, yeah. Probably that too. Yeah. Exactly. I mean, right after the inauguration, it was like there were this, there was this congal line of people trying to bend over backwards to a peas Donald Trump. And to, you know, throw the trans community under a bus and to distance themselves on the Democratic side to distance themselves from the trans community. Which makes no sense to me. That is, that is long gone. We are in a new paradigm now. This year, 2026 is Donald Trump. I've said this a million times is Donald Trump entering in that second term slump. That second term curse that all presidents face. Donald Trump is severely weakened. The mega movement severely

weakened and fracturing. There is no reason whatsoever for Gavin Newsom to do this. And it's only going to drive people away from him. He is going to have a hell of a time and people will remember. Oh, I will not be memory hold. This will be remembered when it comes to primary season. Yes. And, you know, look, I'm not necessarily saying that everything Gavin Newsom has done or will do is terrible. No, there's a couple of things that we have to, that we have to, yes, yes, we have to be aware of and we have to take into consideration when we're choosing our favorites when it comes to the Democratic primaries next year. Right. And the following year, obviously. And so that I just I'm confounded by the two. What's the two ridiculous? I don't know what he's he's he's pro gay. He's pro women. So what the f was he thinking right now? Right. Right. Yeah. And look, when you know, since it's been a couple of weeks, we had a thing last week where he talked about it too, where I was talking with Parker M alloy. And I was talking with Evan got to get

her. Herb and his last name about the whole question of, especially for people who are in endangered groups, like trans community about they say, how can I, you know, when the choice is vote for a Democrat that they feel is an existential threat or, or, you know, vote for a Republican or don't vote at all. And how do you deal with it? Yeah. And, and the, the thing that we came to is what what what what other trans advocates have said to is, I think Charlotte said the same thing, is that you vote, you go and you vote for everything you can. If you as an individual person for whatever reason, whether it is maybe you're maybe maybe you're an immigrant. And yeah, you've got your your citizenship now or maybe your spouse is. And, but, you know, somebody has said some things that they crossed the line for you on the immigration stuff that they'd be willing to be okay with some of the stuff. Each candidate, each line, you, but you advocate that everybody should go vote and especially go vote for Democrat-ic priorities. Now, if there's an individual candidate that you can't vote for, that's fine that you leave that space, but you better fill in all

the other spaces that you can. Everybody should do this regardless. And I just think when it comes to new sums next opportunity, which we all know he's going to try to run for president. Of course he is. That this is going to be one of those things that there are going to be way too many of us who go, dude. Uh-oh. No, I'm going to email his office. You did not stand with us. Right, exactly. You did stand with us when we needed you to. So read a goddamn website. Read a newspaper. Read the room. And yeah, and learn the fact that we are in the age now of standing up for liberal values, standing up for what we believe in. Fearlessly. Not running away from that. You know, and I almost said the S word, not running away from the value. That's cute. Yeah. Yeah. No, but look, that is what we do. We stand up for our values and we stand up for each other. And so that's this, you know, I that's just that just pisses me off again. Yeah, it does. It's like seriously, Gavin, you're better with women and the trans community. So what they have for you doing. He's better. A lot of these issues and look, the data says people who stand up for trans people,

most people agree with trans rights completely. The power of the governorship that he was voting against. I know. I know. Look, we got more politics to talk about. I know. Look, freshen your drink. Come right back. Bob Seska's back here on this Wednesday night. We'll be right back after we pay some bills at the politics bar. Last call on this Wednesday evening. It's been a busy evening. Thank you. If you missed on loose hanging out with us earlier, I'm sorry about that. You'll be able to see her this weekend. If you missed Bob Seska, well, he's still here. So that's a good hello. And you'll have to be $6 once a month. And in fact, if you do it as an annual subscription, it's even less than $6. So go check it out. It's at the politicsbar.com. As I imagine, Bob Seska is here hanging out with you on this Wednesday night, which we like. We're talking about all the stuff Bob has to do to, you know, juggle stuff him and Kimberly for their new refrigerator. It's an extra. Exactly. We're going to refrigerate it with a good view apparently. Industrial size. You're right. Commercial, commercial grade, I believe. Right. Fun times. Look, the whole thing is, is, is, you know, when you apply for a mortgage, when you apply for any of that stuff, it's not quite as invasive as maybe like an FBI background check, but it's still relatively invasive about, you know, everything you have to do. So you would think that if you were going to have, you know, apply for the FBI, or if you're

going to do, you know, like campaign finance stuff, for example, that you would have all of your ducks in a row. And apparently, um, control, uh, concern, control, Susan Collins, uh, seems to not have had all of her ducks in a row. And it seems to be something that a lot of people here in the D.C. area have known about for quite a while. Mm-hmm. Oh, yes. Yeah. Did you, did you see, uh, A.G. Allison Gill's post? Yeah, from 21. She read this was, this was 21. This was here. Let me, let me scroll back on my notes here because she had this, uh, May 18th of 2021. She posted. Wow. Yeah. She posted thread Senator Collins helped get an $8 million Navy contract for Navitech. Then Navitech donated $150,000 to her pack through a shell company and straw donors. Members of her staff knew about it. Bonus Navitech guy was already indicted for bilking taxpayers out of millions in COVID relief. And he's been convicted of serving, right? Mm-hmm. Uh, then Sam Stein was like, oh, yeah, we were on that story when I was back at, was it Politico or the hell he was before he is at, uh, where he's at now? Um, back in 2019.

And other people are cheap, cheap, tripping up going, yeah, we had this in 2020 and people have known about this for years. And this thing is only been bearing it. Oh, yeah, for sure. Yeah, I remember a straw donor that, that scam is bad idea. Yeah. Very bad idea to arrange straw donors for campaign contributions to get around a campaign finance laws. Right. And if you remember, Dinesh, D'Souza went to prison because of a straw donor scam that he was working on. Yes, he did. So this is a, this is a, this is a well-worn territory where people have been nabbed for doing the exact same thing. And it always confounds me when people get caught and then other people think, hey, you know what? That's a great idea. Why don't I do that thing that that other guy got caught for an imprisoned for because I'm different. I'm special. I'm me. So I'm smarter. Oh, yeah. It's my, say Dinesh, D'Souza, I think went to one of those country club prisons. Of course, I mean, it's definitely a white collar crime, but,

yeah, right, right. But he's still an ex-con now. So, you know, and that's, and that's a whole thing. Charlie has a great piece over at Esquire. We've got that linked as well saying it's totally not sketchy at all that Trump's DOJ is giving up on public corruption. Yeah. And what you do is with straw donors, you line up people who haven't made any campaign contributions. You give them the money in order to contribute to your campaign or your candidate of choice. And then they do that. So you can, in effect, donate more money than the legal limit to a candidate or a campaign, yep, or a super pack or whatever. And that's how that's how straw donors work. Well, super packs don't matter. It's can't pay. Oh, it's not super packs. Okay. Gotcha. Thank you. Yeah. But still, it's, it's, it's all this, and there's more criminality. We actually have a whole, whole thing in corruption land today in the news on tap under, I've got mine, FU, new financial disclosures reveal that Trump made over 1000 stock trades just in July. We're talking like weeks ago, worth up to 270 million dollars, the financial disclosures reveal. He made

tens of millions selling Amazon and Microsoft stock. And that's a, what, out of a total of how many trades that he make in the last year and a half, 20,000, 28,000. Something like that. Yeah, that was the other related news story. But it's a blind trust, kids. It's a blind trust. He has no idea what's happening. It's a blind trust. He was on crack and pressing all the buttons. 28,000. Yeah, right. No, that's, no, he's got a revocable trust, which means he can interfere and advise and he's, and he's, you know what, he's just breaking the law out in the open now. I don't think he cares. I mean, he saw him the other day talking repeatedly about how he's directing money that goes out of MAGA Inc to Republican candidates, which is a clear violation of camp. And that's a, that's specifically a super pack situation, where you're not, if you're, if you're the, you know, connected to a super pack, you're not allowed to advise that super pack. Right. If you're the actual candidate or government official, that's not, that's a major

violation. He's like, okay, well, come at me. I did. You think I, you think I'm doing it? General. So the inspector general investigated Treasury Secretary Besent and said that Besent quote unquote inadvertently reported at least 100,000 dollars of JP Morgan stock that was his husband's. He said said there were a few found no knowing violation, quote unquote, of federal ethics law. Oops. And that's the inspector general. So I mean, this is what Trump thinks is that he's got enough people. He does. Right. Well, that's just it. He's, A, he's not going to live forever. His arteries, you know, time, time is undefeated. Something will happen. And he will be defeated. Jody's like crossing fingers. But he will, he will. They're not, and, and look, the, the people who are not dumb, the judges who are not dumb, the prosecutors, the inspectors general who are not dumb, they're going to do their jobs because they can foresee one, two, three years down the road when Donald Trump is not there for

one reason or another. And they're like, I don't want to go to prison. And it's been in the statute of limitations. So I think I'm pretty good. I'm going to stay within the law. I think that Donnie, Jr. and Eric and not so much Ivanka, because they've been kind of smart. I think they've been smart like, ish, but I mean, other than trying to buy that, that island, that's doing all of alphania on their heads or whatever. But other than that, they've been smart ish in this country. I'm going to go with that. Yes. That's a good bottle of fire. And so, and so is baron who made, how many 20-year-olds do you know that made $150 million? That's insane. That's insane. I don't know. It's, it's, it's got to be corrupt as well. Of course it's, it's got to be corrupt as hell. I mean, when I was 20 years old, I could eat an entire large pizza in under five minutes. I mean, that was what I, I mean, but baron is a built, what, a millionaire billionaire was a hundred million, a hundred million, a hundred million dollars. God. Yeah. Yeah. So he's like, he's not doing anything. I think it's

his mom and Donald are giving him the reasons for it. And he's just the patty. Well, I'm sure he's a patty for that. I'm sure that Melania is watching over him. It seems to be that she's, that's become her thing is, is making sure that he's taken care of the way that she wants. Right. But I mean, if I just had one percent of his money, I'd be fine. I'll take that. When I was 20 years old, I made $4 an hour working for Sam Goodie at Springfield Law in Frank, Tony of Virginia. I was just looking at my parents pay for my tuition at college. You know what I mean? Yeah. I'm trying to think what was I doing when I was 20? I'm trying to remember. I was watching in a different world at 20. Well, I'm yes, this is true too. I was watching different. I was applying for college. I was working at, I think I might have been working at Kawasaki on the line. See? And I was working at a tele services kind of a thing, whatever, you know, my parents were well

off by the way. Very well off. But nobody was making $150 million for a 20 year old. No, no, no, no. Or, or even a corresponding amount for, you know, back $1 million at that. Right. No, no. I would like a million dollars. All of all of that is so corrupt. And of course, it all ties back to the whole Susan Collins thing with her. And that, I mean, that little thing with her is just so, I am very hopeful that that will help take her down. Well, look, Democrats, I mean, this blue is going to lose without it. I mean, prior to this coming out, she's always wanted to come back. So never just count her. And I was trying to do pretty good. I was pretty good now. But I think, yeah, I think this will put a nice big old nail in her coffin because that he made this will be like, hill no. He finally, Maynard's are going to wake up to her. Especially since she's been doing it since before the last time that she got

on. Yeah. And yeah, they'll be like, wait a minute, you do what for how long? Yeah. This is big for her. Yeah. Which look, I'm, I'm, I'm glad I'm, I am excited about all the great, great polling, the great things that are happening for Democrats. But as you say, Bob, don't get happy. Don't get happy. There it is. People don't have to look the new, the new you go, the new you go poll came out today. Democrats now hold a 14 point lead among likely likely. That's a good. Wow. Yeah. Once again, we're in 2006 range there with that 2006 enormous. Six 2008 right strength and numbers. Variety poll. Democrats lead the house vote by 10 with likely voters. Trump's approval hits a new low in their poll of 33. He hit in one earlier this week. 29. 29. Um, Sabato's crystal ball crystal ball moved three Senate and four governors races in Democrats favor Fox. We had the Fox polling stuff yesterday. Just the tariff, by the way,

we'll be back. She could not make it yesterday Tuesday of next. Um, but they moved 15 house races all in the direction of Democrats yesterday. 42 days yesterday until the election, 41 now and they're moving massive amounts of races, house, Senate and governors races. The governors make more of a difference, by the way. All right. But they all political. Yeah. The cook political report, Charlie Cook. Yes. I always want to say Charlie Kirk, but not Charlie Kirk Charlie Cook was saying that the prospect for Republicans is in one of three categories. Bad. Really bad and truly horrible. And right now on the Senate side, it's really bad for Republicans. I go back to my ongoing. I want to 62. I just want to say it's moving. It's moving. It's moving. It's really bad towards absolutely terrible. As you say, it's moving. It's moving in that direction, which I'm like, go, go, go. Go 40 days is a lot of runway for Donald to continue to make things worse for him and his party.

Well, in yesterday, JV, you know, Vance out there saying, yeah, you know, three quarters of a million people were taking away your ACA health care because you hadn't used it in the last year. So instead of asking you or anything, we're just going to take it away, screw you. And if you accidentally estimated your income wrong, because maybe you got a new album or something cover that you hadn't expected to draw, you know, Mr. Seska, they're like, they're like, not an hour. I'll screw that you estimated wrong. So instead of trying to fix it, we're just going to take your health care away. Yeah, that's not a good thing. 40, 40 days until the election. And you got Vance out there telling people, yes, this is what Republicans do. I'm like, no mention whatsoever, by the way, from Dr. Oz of whether they're examining that these alleged fraudsters actually paid their premiums. Thank you. Right. I mean, that's, I didn't see anything from Dr. Oz mentioning that at all. Not even a little bit. They tell. Yeah. Yeah. We will all continue to be a little bit more stressed out about the politics. Then we need it. But this is why we do things like sometimes. This is why we drink.

Well, this is true. And also why also why we watch and listen to Trek politics with you and Mary, Jim, you guys have out. I believe right now the the second half of the first of the original Star Trek movie. I know you guys know we're starting a wrath of con. Oh, yes, that should be good. I saw a really funny thing with an old, forget tell me after tell me after we wrap this up here, because we only got like 10 20. I know. I know. Bob, we will see you back here at the bar next week. Tomorrow, Thursday, John Fugelsang will be here. So we'll see you guys tomorrow night here at the politics bar. Hey, it's Jody Hamilton and Sean Smith Pierce. Here's a taste of what you might have missed from the politics bar. Jody, I was listening to you this morning, filling in for staff, you and Chris were debating. And just for the record, Jody is right. Chris's argument is that there is some truth to what's being said about the left being in their own information silo right.

Basically, we started talking about how Gavin Newsom has invited people on his podcast, Hi up, Maga guys. Yeah. Well, right when shop again, that's that's what they yeah. Yeah. And my argument is he shouldn't be inviting them because nobody on that side is listening to Gavin Newsom. Right. It doesn't help to bring propagandists into a sphere where truth matters because they're just going to lie their asses off anyway. Right. So here is a public service message for Chris Levoi. Jody Hamilton is right.
