1:01on Fox shows and podcasts and radio. You know all about him. He's a best-selling author many times over and we're going to talk about his brand new book today, Divine Invasions, Experiencing God's Miracles in Your Life Today. Pastor, welcome back. Great to be back. Thanks so much for having me. Okay, so let's talk about this title Divine Invasions because some people hear the word invasions like, ooh, that sounds kind of aggressive. But what do you mean by that? Well, it's another word for miracles and you know somebody said, well what is a miracle? And I think of the Supreme Court justice who was talking about pornography and said, I don't know how to define it, but I know it when I see it. That's the same way with miracles. We may not be able to technically define them, but we know they're an act of God that comes sometimes unexpectedly in our life. And I really believe Shannon that God is still in the business of performing miracles. I grew up in a tradition. I went to a seminary that basically taught the age of miracles is over.

2:01God doesn't do miracles any longer. We don't need them now that we have the Bible. But after 50 years in ministry, I've come to see we do need miracles and we can experience miracles. Now I'm not talking about miracles like having an empty parking space in front of Duncan Donut. So I mean, you know, people want to make everything a miracle sometimes. But I do think there are supernatural interventions of God in our life. And that's what this book is about. I'm struck by sometimes that I will pray for something and it doesn't go the way I think it should, but trusting that the Lord has got a plan. But I'm often struck by the fact that there are so many things I don't know about where he has interceded that he's protected me from things and people and accidents and circumstances. And I have to stop myself and say, Lord, there may be miracles around my life all day every day that I don't even know about because you're protected me from something. I mean, you say he's actively working in our lives. Yes, I do. And I have a chapter in the book, Shannon, what to do when your miracle doesn't come? And we can talk about that later a bit. I

3:05mean, many times God says no. God says wait. But sometimes God does things that we don't ask in for. I think one of the surprises of heaven are going to be when we see how God intervened in our life with protection or with provision in our life or with healing in our life. But I do believe he's still at work in our life today. And again, like James says, we have not because we ask not. One of the chapters in the Bible talks about miracles of healing. You know, I believe God heals sometimes today. I don't believe God uses divine healers, but I believe in divine healing. God doesn't need a middleman. He can do it directly. And sometimes he does that. I'll talk about healing because I'm sure that people listening have a lot of questions and folks who can pick up this book, Divine Invisions by Dr. Robert Jeffress. When you talk about healing, how should we pray for that, seek that should we go to the elders of our church to a community group,

4:08can we pray on our own? What's the best way to pursue healing and to also prepare ourselves for whatever answer we might get? We have at our church, First Baptist Dallas, occasionally services. We don't call them faith healing services. We call them faith kneeling services. In what we do, what James 5 says, and that is to call for the authorities of the church, and having anointed the sick with oil, let us pray. Now, I believe the oil in James Day was a medicinal agent. God doesn't always work apart from medicine. He works with medicine sometimes. He did that with King Hezzat Kaya in the Old Testament. He extended his life, but it was through the best medical treatment they had back then. The cakes of figs that they used for healing. It was both and. And Shannon, I believe today, if you're sick, the first thing you ought to do is pray. The second thing you ought to do is go to the doctor. In fact, you might go to the doctor while you're praying, because God uses medicine sometimes, but sometimes He does so apart from that.

5:13And again, we had these times when we prayed for the sick, we asked God to heal, but then we learned to rest and whatever answer He has. I sometimes don't get that excited about testimonies of healing, even though I've experienced them in my life before, because all healing in this world is temporary. We're all going to get sick and die from something, but that doesn't mean we shouldn't pray that God would lengthen our life. That's what Hesikaya did. God pronounced a death sentence on him, and he prayed that God would give him more years, and God granted him an additional 15 years. Again, we have not, because we asked not. I love that you say both and, because I think that's so important. It's not that we don't have adequate faith if we decide to seek a doctor or medical professional. You know my story in folks know, I've shared it many times in the podcast of my own genetic condition that there's not really a cure for, and I struggle to find the right doctor and diagnosis and all those things

6:14for a couple of years. But I prayed at one point, Lord, if you're not going to heal me, because I got to accept that maybe that's not your plan, just like Paul, his thorn in his side that he kept asking for it to be taken, and the Lord was like, my straight, this perfect in your weakness, and you know, I've got you, and I know your situation. But I prayed, okay, leave me to the right doctor. So that for me was a prayer that was helpful in my medical journey too, and my doctors were tired now, but for years I would say to him, you know you're my answer to prayer, and I think he might have thought that was a little goofy, but it was really true. So the Lord can answer our prayers in a lot of different ways. What you're saying, Shannon, that is such a perfect illustration of Isaiah 43 2. God says, I will walk with you through the floods, through river, through the fire. He doesn't say, I'll be with you when you get out of it. Many God doesn't take us out of a problem. He walks with us through the problem, and that's a miracle in and of itself. Exactly right. Okay, so you talk about different kinds of miracles, power, provision, protection,

7:18and we've talked about healing. So walk us through a couple of those others. What we talk about miracles of power, as you look through history, there seems to be five different times in history where God was doing something new, and there were clusters of miracles to verify what he was doing, whether it was Moses and Joshua, the time of Elijah and Elijah, Jesus and the apostles. By the way, there's going to be one final period of miracles that is still featured during the tribulation. The Bible says that the anti-Christ and Satan will perform counterfeit miracles to lead people astray, while there are big miracles from God's own followers that are legitimate. And we talk about how to recognize a counterfeit miracle today. But those are different categories of miracles that convince people that God really is doing something new. But there are also miracles of provision when God meets a financial need that we have, and I share some personal illustrations there. There are miracles of protection when God intervenes and

8:18protects our lives. Satan is a murderer, Jesus said. He would love to kill us prematurely. He'd tried to do that with Jesus. And I talk about several instances in which I experienced divine protection. And then finally, the miracles of healing that we've talked about. When you talk about, and you mentioned this here, watch out for counterfeit miracles. You write about that too, because we think about, okay, evil spirits and evil powers can do things. We think about Pharaoh when he and his sorcerers and people in his court were able to mimic or mock some things that people would look at them as miracles and say, well, well, that must be divine. Also, how are we now in 2026 to watch for counterfeit miracles? Well, I think, first of all, we need to carefully examine what is the message, the so-called miracle worker or the receiver of miracles? What message are they promoting? Is it a message that is biblical? Is it a message that exalts Jesus Christ? Or is it a so-called miracle that exalts themselves? And so I think we need to look at the message, and then secondly, we need to look at

9:24the motives. We need to try to discern the motives of the so-called miracle worker. Are they operating out of greed? Are they acting out of immorality? The Bible encourages us to look at somebody's lifestyle. As Jesus said by your fruit, you shall know them. So I think those are the two things. 10:26Divine Invasion's Experience, God's Miracles in Your Life Today. You talk about the counterfeit miracles and we've been reading through the Old Testament and it reminds me of these false profits who were constantly saying and doing things, whether it was for their own popularity or their own good because a lot of the profits had to tell prophecies to leaders that didn't want to hear them. I mean, it was these were not welcome messages. But there are people who exploit religion for the wrong reasons and lead people astray. I mean, how do you think the Lord is going to deal with them? Whether it's now or in the future. Well, I think the futures pretty grim for them if I read the Bible correctly. I think God absolutely absolutely hates those who lead people away from the truth. And again, you know, when it comes to miracles, I like what my predecessor, my church, Dr. Christel said, he said, I believe in faith healing. I just don't believe in faith healers. And I really look a scant that really pretty much anybody who claims to be a miracle worker.

11:29There was a purpose for miracles in the first century before the Bible was written. I mean, think about it. You had Jesus apostles going out and saying, now for 2000 years, you followed the law, but God has a new way for you to be saved through faith in His Son, Jesus Christ. How is somebody to know whether they were telling the truth or not? Why was their power to work miracles to heal the sick, to raise the dead? Today, we evaluate so-called miracle workers or prophets by their adherence to the Word of God is the message they are teaching a biblical message. So I really would, I still believe God works miracles in our life, but He doesn't need a middleman any longer. He can do it directly. So I'd be very suspicious of those who claim to do miracles, especially if those miracles are coupled with a desire for money or an immoral lifestyle. Mm-hmm. So true. So you've been a pastor for decades. You've been disseminary. You've counseled people. You've been a

12:30teacher all this time. You've written so many bestselling books. Did you learn anything new? Because in writing this book, I always feel like when I write, I either see something I've seen before, but I see it in a new way or I do actually learn new things about Scripture and about the Lord. Well, what I came to the conclusion of is God is much more interested in what happens in us than what happens to us. I mean, think about, I would ask our audience, think about a difficult circumstance you're in right now. What circumstance could God not change instantly if He wanted to? If He has you going through a difficult time, it's for a purpose. There's no reason for suffering that doesn't have a purpose to it. God has a great purpose for your life. And I think helping people deal with the no answers to miracles is as important as helping them evaluate true miracles. One quick story. I tell the story of Johnny Erickson Tata. She's a friend of yours. I know and a friend of ours. And somebody asked her one time, or you ever upset that God doesn't do a

13:35miracle and heal you? And she said, you know, if God were to heal me and put an end to suffering, that means there would have to be an end to sin. And for there to be an end to sin in the world, that means Jesus Christ would have had to have come back. And if Jesus Christ comes back, then that means there's no longer an opportunity for people to be saved. And then she said, therefore, I'm willing to sit in my wheelchair a little longer if it means more people can come to faith than Jesus Christ. Now that is a great perspective. And that's the one I would leave with the audience today. The way to go through suffering is to have a ministry focus. Be thinking about others and not just yourself. You know, in second Corinthians one, Paul said, God strengthens us in our afflictions so that we can offer strength and comfort to those who suffer the same affliction. Shannon, I've never lost a child. I can tell people great things about heaven, but I can't

14:39minister to somebody who's lost a child like somebody who's gone through that experience. I've never sat in a wheelchair before. I can give all kind of platitudes, but I don't have the same ministry. Johnny Erickson does in that experience. If we understand the fact that God has left us here to be his representative, then we can understand why it is God sometimes says no to our request for a miracle in our life. I mean, what a beautiful selfless thing that she illustrates as you share that story about using your suffering, hoping that in the progress of that, others come to know the Lord because of what you're willing to walk through yourself. All I know is that when we get to heaven, hopefully I can come visit you and Johnny in your neighborhood and your big missions and you'll let me come by and visit you guys. But in the meantime, this story or this book about divine invasions, why did you think it was important? Because you said, you know, in the past you had people that were educated, theologians and people who said, okay, this is not an age of miracles

15:42why do you think it was important for people to pick up this book to hear this message that miracles are still happening? Well, because I think people really do think God's out of the miracle business. They think things like parting the Red Sea or making the Sun stands still or feeding the 25,000. God used to do that, but he just somehow lost his power or changed his mind or his abilities. And that's just not true. God is the same yesterday, today and forever. And so I would just say, the take away message for this is if you need a miracle, ask for it. And when you talk to God, don't tell him what you think ought to be in your heart, telling what's really in your heart. Guess what? He knows it anyway. I've got cripple grandchildren, as you know, right here's old. And when we go to the mall, they'll go and say, oh, pop, pop, can I get this? Oh, can I get this 30 seconds later? It's something else. I don't take those requests seriously because they change all the time. But one of my children or grandchildren keeps asking me for the

16:47same thing over and over again. I know it's something that's important to them. And I'm more likely to answer that request. And I would say to those of you who need a miracle, don't give up. Jesus said, keep on asking, keep on seeking, keep on knocking. And if we will do that, God will either say, yes, or he has something even better for us. And we should never forget Shannon that ultimately, one day, every prayer for every miracle we've ever uttered is going to be fulfilled when we see Jesus Christ. The best is yet to come. Remember this miracles delayed, do not mean miracles denied. So true. And this is not our home. I mean, for all of the unrest and the suffering that we have here, if we can remember, and sometimes we have to reorient ourselves to thinking eternally, there is so much beauty and good and healing and, you know, no more tears, no more sorrow, that is coming. And I think about when you say don't stop praying and you're agreeing kids,

17:50it's, you know, I love that. Yeah, if they're asking for the same thing over and over and they're steadfast and committed to this thing, I think about Hannah and how she desperately wanted a child praying to the point where the priest was going to, you know, essentially, or the rabbi was going to kick her out of the, of where she was praying or accusing her of like, woman, are you drunk? I mean, that's how much sorrow she had in going before the Lord. I mean, as she said, he knows her hearts. We're not hiding anything from him to act like we're okay or he doesn't know our motives or any of that, but I think her story is so beautiful about just pouring herself out and the Lord hearing her and being faithful and showing up to her in all of these years that she was asking for this miracle. So for those who know the Lord, have that encouragement of prayer and maybe a community around them. But what about folks who are just searching? They don't know about the Lord about Jesus and, and they say, I know there's something out there or I need a miracle and I don't know how to pray. I don't even know how to start this journey. Well, in the book by talking about the greatest

18:51divine invasion of all is the greatest divine invitation and that invitation from God is to be a part of his forever family. God treats his children differently than he treats those who aren't his children. He's more inclined to listen to the prayers and the request and meet the needs of his own and chaining the great news of the gospel is anybody can become a child of God. Doesn't matter what your religious background is, your race, your economic status, all you have to do is to ask Jesus to be your savior, to trust in him for the forgiveness of your sins and you can have eternal life. And once you make that decision and once you ask Christ for his forgiveness, you're a part of God's forever family and you can ask anything in your heart that you'd like to and know that he hears you. First John 514 says, this is the confidence we have in him that if we ask anything according to as well, we know he hears us. He does. What a comforting thought and all of the
