1:26We go, we go, we go, we go. They've done it again. The defense of Seattle has done it again. Great May is thrown its third interception in this quarter. Unbelievable ending to the game. Great call there from Kevin Harlan of Westwood One, rivaling the call of Mike Tureko on NBC and one way to welcome you into money moves today on a Thursday. Stormy Bonnetoni, Jonathan Fontobo with you live as always in downtown Las Vegas, circa resort in Casino, but that is one way to start the NFL season, JVT. Yeah, it was a kind of boring game, which kind of stunk for the most part, you know, but it was the first game. So everybody I think just like me was watching over every single second of it. But we'll get into the details. Poor performance from Drake May for the most part, you know, kind of a similar type of game from what we saw on the Super Bowl, at least when it came to the Seahawks defense versus this Patriots offense,

2:27and you do wonder. We've talked a lot about the Patriots in terms of how they match up with teams, and especially the ease of their schedule last year, and the numbers would Drake May against teams of winning records, and you just kind of wonder if this is going to be the start of what could be a pretty rough year for the New England Patriots. 13 10 the final if you later took the three, you get a push if you took three and a half. However, with New England, ultimately do get a dub there. It was a never in question under, especially after Sam Darnold went down early. We will get into as you like to say, the nitty of the and the gritty of it coming up in just a few minutes, but like we always do, let's set the table for everything we have to come over the course of the next two hours big show on deck. It's time for the top headlines and topics of the day. This is the rundown. Place your bets, ladies and gentlemen, JVT. So as you know, Thursdays are kind of my Friday in studio. So we will be laying out all of my official picks and bets for the weekend in College Football and NFL. We will discuss and cement our circa millions selections for the ATS contest here at circa and also just plenty of news

3:29to hit in the National Football League this morning. Yeah, that affects the contest. So obviously post the numbers being released. You have big news coming out from Las Vegas Raiders that has survivor and a million implications as well. There are a couple of numbers that have moved that are different. So we have to figure out what we're going to do with those two. I mean, there's a lot to discuss and whittle down over the next couple of days and you're going to be gone. So we have to get it done here today. Of course, you're going to be out of here. Another report we just saw within the last 10 minutes or so to a jungle by Loa, not feeling great at practice by all accounts. So we'll hit on that in a little bit. It's also a Thursday looking at some college football teams who lost or really struggled last week and are looking to bounce back. One game that you like is one I may or may not be on the call for this week. Yes. Well, we have to talk about it at the very least when it comes to a team coming off of a loss. And look, let's be honest, the team that one of the teams that you're covering this weekend, Tennessee, we still don't know that much about. And he flies on the phase on Brandon was very good in that first matchup against the play last week. Thank you. Against Furman, don't think I'm writing home about that though.

4:31So we'll find out when you take on a powerful opponent, what that looks like. And maybe we're doing a little too much with Tennessee. But I'm really high on the Tennessee team as you know, writing in the SEC guys. So I think you have a really good game even though it's a double digit spread. We got a great line from running back to John Bishop earlier this morning saying that he was unfazed. That's the nickname that he's given phase on Brandon now. Pretty smooth. But we are starting the day from the land down under because guess we had Wednesday night football yesterday. We got Thursday night football tonight out there in Melbourne, Australia. 49ers and Rams going head to head. We're sitting on that three and a half still right now with the super bowl favorite Rams, your, your on the favorite side, total 48 and half. You sparked something in my mind. So I just want you to pass this along. Who's your play by play guy? Bob was shoes in. Tell Bob was shoes in that if there is a situation in which phase on brand, yeah, phase on branded, I was going to flip that every single time. Oh, I trust me. I've already been thinking about it. That I'm going to mess it up sometime in the broadcast. It's taking everything in my being to like write it out. This is a very, very, very, probably not going to happen.

5:33But if he scores a walkoff touchdown for them to win that game, said, phasers to stun is a pretty good one as well. I'll pass that. I'll pass that nugget along. I'll pass that nugget along. OK, let's get back to what we saw last night. Again, 13, 10, the final with Seattle on top. Seahawks did have to overcome a 10, nothing deficit in the third quarter to get there with that now. Defending Super Bowl champs, improve to 22 and five straight up in season openers since 2000. The Super Bowl hangover element for the Super Bowl loser. That trend comes to fruition for New England here as well. But the injury element moving forward for Seattle, despite winning the game, is the biggest question. Sam Darnold goes down on that very first drive, takes a hard sack on, I believe it was the seventh play of the game, did not return. Mike McDonald did say after the game they got great news back on that initial CT scan, there were not any fractures in his hip. But an MRI today will determine the severity of it long term and moving forward. Yeah, I mean, that was a worry, right? It was when you see somebody go down in that fashion. And it's initially I thought, maybe

6:34just to be falling the knee that hard. And then you realize it's hip and then you realize, OK, well, if you're falling on a knee and that should go and straight up like that, there could be a pretty serious injury. So that's really good for him. The fact that he's not going to miss maybe a ton of time. But we'll see as we will get into in about 20 minutes, teams lie. And so maybe there is something here that is a little bit more serious than the Seahawks are letting on. But this is such, I think, a big win for Seattle, not only because you're talking about 1-0, overcoming what you did, you have the injury to Sam Darnold to start it. You have Tai Okita that was not out there. You have Nick Immanwari who ended up not playing. We talked about the other injuries that were already taking place in the secondary. And yet for the most part, that defensive everything could, to keep them in that game and just keep them within distance so that if they come back, was going to happen, they could execute it. And they did. This was a really strong performance from McDonald's defense. And it's a wildly impressive one because you could lose that game. You could have given up a ton of big plays. You could have done so much. And on the other side, you can talk about AJ Brown getting out pretty early in that game. You were not dealing with the attrition that Seattle dealt with throughout that contest. Yet similar situation on the reporting coming out of the AJ Brown

7:36injury for anyone who missed it. Herd his ankle early in the third quarter defender came down awkwardly on his leg in Rapa Port of NFL Network saying this morning it's believed to be a high ankle sprain. Initial X-rays were negative for a fracture. So he too will have an MRI later on today. But to your point about the secondary and all the questions that we had coming into the game for Seattle about that area, how if you are our Drake May and Josh McDaniels for the way that you're trying to set the tone for this game, how are you not testing them right away in the game? Like there was none of that. There was a, I mean, so early on, they actually, so it's one of those things where I was right, but it didn't actually happen. Early on, if you remember, they went big, they only had two wider receivers left side and they ran a little play action and he was looking down field and he ultimately couldn't get it. And it was pointed out by a lot of smart film people, smarter than I, then Salt Lake had a really good breakdown of this after the game where they went back to that play in the fourth quarter and they tried to take another shot. And that's the one he threw the first one that he was targeting, Dubs down the left side line. He just kind of floated it inside. Yeah, very bad. The big drop later in the fourth quarter, like it was ridiculous.

8:37So they tried to like take some shots. The first one wasn't there, so he came off of it and scrambled on it. They tried to take a shot there, but he throws a bad pass. I just think Seattle was awesome. And it was pointed out too by others. Again, Salt Lake had a great breakdown of this one as well. That second pick, you could argue, was a brilliant play by the Seattle Seahawks, not so much a bad throw by Drake May. That was kind of an intermediate shot. I just thought that this Seahawks defense storming was so good yesterday. They were taken away almost everything and you look at it to your point, you could look at this and go, average of the target is just 6.5 yards downfield. How many times were we watching? I was watching it with Adam Hill who covers Las Vegas Raiders. How many times were you watching? I'm like a second and 15 and they're just like, let's just throw it out to the flat. And then on a third and 15, let's just throw it out to the flat. He was so uncomfortable because nothing was available downfield. He was getting pressured. It was a terrible performance again from this offensive line at times. I thought that this was, look, Drake May was not good and that last interception was inexcusable. He was totally on him. Given the situation too. That is a 100% you throw that ball away. You can even take a sack in that moment

9:38and it would be fine. You're infield going. Correct. The one thing you don't do is that and as it's been pointed out, given the route concepts on that play, that guy was not expecting the ball in nine out of 10 situations, maybe even 10 out of 10 times. So it was a bad performance for May, but I think you've got to get a ton of credit to the Seahawks defense. They were lights out yesterday. I was really, really impressed. In complete agreement, their final stat line for Drake May 23, 3,378 yards in a score, three interceptions, all of which came in that fourth quarter, including the one that we were just talking about from the 16 yard line with 26 seconds to go, just that cannot have it situation that goes that way. All three sacks also coming in that fourth quarter. So bad. But you're not even down four. No. You're down three. Drake May by the way, has now had two games with multiple interceptions since the start of last season. Both of them against the Seattle Seahawks, which again, just a testament to what that side of the ball for Seattle has been and they were historically good defense a year ago. We'll see what they end up becoming throughout the course of the regular season. But considering some of the issues we were discussing about that side of the ball

10:39coming into the game, they answered every possible question, drew Lock, meanwhile on the other side. Post game interview to the stars, certainly 16 to 22, 73%, only 178 yards, one touchdown, no picks though, so played clean. I didn't realize this. First quarterback to lead his team and passing off the bench in a double digit comeback since Zach Wilson took out for, replaced excuse me, Aaron Rogers in the Jets 2023, sees an opener against the bills. Pete Blackburn, who's big like NHL reporter and personality, he tweeted out a picture of Rogers right running out with the flag instantly after Sam Darnold went down and it was like, this is exactly the same. I was like, that's so wrong. And then historically, that is exactly what ended up happening. Yeah, I mean, look, I don't know, Lock was particularly impressive either, but you get it done. A wins a win. A wins a win. But that is a bad loss for New England. Fortunately, though, for Seattle, with the questions about Sam Darnold, the tarot's own a coming up for week two. Potentially, fortunately, potentially, fortunately. Yeah, what are you trying to say about my guy? We got some questions about that for millions, a little bit later.

11:39Well, we do, yeah, but that's because they're so good. You're going to take a money line? They're so good. I mean, I think there's a possibility. You, I know you are rooting for that heart to be the case. Nate Tyson, who does a great job for Yahoo, he was asking on Twitter, like give us a week one kind of wild prediction that we can talk about during our team or our week one previews. And I submitted Cardinals Drop 30 and beat the chargers. So, oh, that's a fun, bold take. Yeah, it would be sick to happen for a survivor standpoint, because how many people in the field would you knock out if that ended up being the case? I'm telling you, man, we got to have a real conversation about this. Also, we cannot finish the recap of this game without saying, how about Eli Rardon 65 to one first touchdown score? Apparently, Poly Howard gave that out on follow the money yesterday. So, Kudos to any of you if you followed him on that one. Nice little dub to kick off the season. Meanwhile, I already had my first prop lost by a half a yard. Ramon Dre Stevenson, I had the over 12 and a half for the longest brush. It was a tough day for all day. But yeah, yeah, yeah, they got a refund, right? So, why not make a cup of that? Yeah, they got that. Hit and miss for the Sam Darnold props.

15:49Rams, they didn't have any time to do that based on the way that they decided to track this thing. Last night, evidently, they arrived in Melvin at 9.45 pm. According to ESPN's Peter Schreger, they all slept on the flight over and sleeping in the hotel for the rest of the night. Did you send me the thing about the plane? Or was that somebody else? Someone else. Apparently that the plane had like all of those bags. Oh, no Wi-Fi. I did send you that. Yeah, but no Wi-Fi. Okay. Yes. Sorry, I forgot I sent you that. Yeah. But I did. Interesting. But yeah, I mean, you don't, you shouldn't need it. Just go to bed. Right. Just go to bed. You need it at 16 hours, right? Sure. But talk to your friends, play cards. That's what you do the whole day. That's insane. It's the lay beds are not bad, to be honest with you. Sure. Or whatever. And also, I know they said no Wi-Fi, but that doesn't necessarily mean no like TVs. Well, right. You probably have a bunch of gameplay movies, and all that stuff. You're probably having movies and all that stuff. You're probably moving movies and all that stuff. Yeah, sure. You're bringing some sorts of tablets, video games, whatever. They were just fine. And then the sleep, a good chunk of it as much as humanly possible. Then they get to the hotel in Australia.

16:51They sleep some more. And as Shreger said, this isn't some trial and error approach. They've sent 15 staffers over the course of the last two years that have tracked their bodies and sleep rhythms. This was deemed the approach no turning back now. And as we have discussed a number of times here this week, whichever team ends up winning, we're going to say you're genius way to go. Well, I'm not like that. I actually have opinions and sticks to them. I think the Rams are doing it the proper way, but we'll see what happens. I mean, again, I don't, you can't even really tell if the fatigue manifests on the field to be all right. And when we're watching later today, you're not going to be able to tell if that's going to be the case. Unless the 49ers of the Rams are quite literally sitting there like, like in the middle of a play or falling asleep on the field, there's no way to tell who's fatigued from what reason or whatever. So that's something I do before every game. Personally, that my husband says is my nervous tick. I can't stop yawning. No matter what time of day my game is, I can't stop not yawning until the game starts. Yeah. That's probably it. It's really weird. You're a bundle of nerves. But either way, I think the Rams handle the properly. We'll see. It's all just comes from like reading and listening to smarter people than me, but we have a game today.

17:52And that's all that matters. Two sides of this thing from a trend standpoint, Sean McVeigh is three, you know, in international games. The last time they went to London, granted it is less time on a plane, obviously, that it is to Australia. They did the whole day before thing and it worked out pretty well for them. Meanwhile, over the course of the NFL's history playing international games, 17 to 9, ATS, actually, for the team that arrives earlier from a number standpoint. 49ers are getting three and a half points. We've stood pretty still at that number for a while now, total 48 and a half, although it did move off of the opener that was two and a half in favor of Los Angeles Rams here. Indry wise, I put this under injuries in our rundown, but Aaron Donald out just because he's older now and just resigned with the team hasn't done enough 11 on 11 to feel comfortable getting out there for week one with all of the travel that is layered into that. Miles Garrett, however, will play despite the knee swelling, Pukka, Nukuah. We know he's been dealing with on and off field stuff, but he is going to be in for this game from the 49ers standpoint where he Morris said earlier this week, Nick Bosa is going to play unclear exactly what that's going to look like from a snap count perspective.

18:54Same thing with George Kiddell. All the expectations are that he's ready to go from the latest reporting, but will he be on a pitch count potentially maybe from a prop standpoint? Are there Jake Tongus elements that you could look at or just Kiddell unders maybe? I don't know. And defensive tackle James Thompson returned to practice yesterday, which I think just given the D-line injuries they had this week, most notably, of course, Alfred Collins good to have a little depth back. Yeah. So did you play that four has gone here at Circa? Did you play it? I did. I didn't put it as a best bet at the end of the show, but I did just I put a sprinkle on plus four and I played them in a teaser as well, paired it up with the jets. How are you feeling? I feel good. I feel like these. Oh, wait, so you teased the jets up and the 49ers up? Yes. To 10, I would say. So 49ers to 10, yes, and jets to 7 and a half. Okay. Interesting. Why is that interesting? Well, I mean, just I think that's a interesting partly. Usually you don't, or partly, excuse me, I guess taking it as a partly. Teaser, you know, just generally don't see it teased up to 10. That's all. Yeah, I know. I break the rules. You know this. I'm not saying it's not a wrecked relax.

19:56Storm, Anthony. I'm saying you spent enough shows with me last year to know that I am not fully with the Wong all the time. I get a little wonky when I feel like it. And what often the not last year did play out for me. So you might think this, but it is not a criticism. I just find it interesting. I don't know. It feels judging. Everything does to you. Did you end up playing anything? I don't have anything yet. I mean, I think I'll be 49ers or not. I don't really feel too much about this one. I'm going to be really interested. We'll talk about. I mean, we don't have a lot of time. We don't have a lot of time. We don't have much time. We don't have a lot of time. We don't have time for stuff to do today, but I thought one of the interesting angles from a prop standpoint was looking at some of the rushing props for your team. I think looking at some of the film stuff and the breakdowns that are out there, one of the things that I think is going to be pretty interesting is the way the Rams approach it from a defensive standpoint. Kyle Shanahan is a very good offensive mind, but a big key about their offense is going after opposing linebackers and putting him out in space and getting him in conflict as smart football people would say. And one of the ways to counteract that is maybe not put linebackers on the field. you're playing lighter boxes if you're the Rams you're putting a lot of DBs out there as opposed to playing some base packages and if you're doing that

20:58You're daring the 49ers to just say not just run the ball Like we're not gonna give you the opportunity to hit some of these play action passes or whatnot We're going to play a little bit lighter We're gonna force the game plan essentially and try to get you to maybe come after some lighter boxes Both in terms of personnel and in terms of actual weight right just having a lot of DBs out there And so I think that might be part of it and so if it is then that means a pretty good running day or at least in terms of attempts and or rushing yards For your San Francisco 49ers. So I would assume that that is maybe part of the game plan getting rid of one of the things that Chanahan likes to go after a bit Enforcing to play a little bit with their left hand as opposed to the right meanwhile I actually bet some receiving props today Well one of which which I think is a pretty obvious one and I wouldn't be surprised if this ends up being one of the more Popular props on the day, but the receptions number for Christian McCaffrey was only said at four and a half and it wasn't really Juiced minus 112 minus 113 around town what I was looking at for a guy who had five or more receptions and 15 and 19 games last year Given some of the wide receiver depth issues we have

21:58Brock party just trying to get the ball out quickly We talk all the time about Christian McCaffrey being the straw that stirs the drink for this offense and getting some of those What a high what's the word I'm looking for High percentage That early for rock party I think is good and and Christian McCaffrey will be a key piece of that So again at the juice and at the number because this is something that creeped up throughout the course of the year being set at five and a half and six and a half To get a four and a half right off the jump here and the way that he started last year I think he had like eight or nine receptions the first game of the season a year ago against Seattle and an division game So let's keep that rolling here and then also Dejan Stribling I get that he was the most popular guy this preseason and was getting all of the flowers and all of the love and We've seen the offensive Ricky of the year number for him in the futures market come down significantly, but he Was a real bright spot and I think they're going to utilize that especially given the fact that you are down Ricky Pierce all for the entirety of the season Christian Kirk son injured reserve Mike Evans dealing with some softish tissue stuff

23:00What what do we know about Debo Samuel in 2026? I'm not sure I think that he could be another security blanket type player potentially Yeah, I think the other thing that's worth looking at here and maybe this is a little hardcore I think later this season will try to start doing a little bit more of these defensive props because I do think they're fun But your boy Nick Bosa and what he's going to do off the injury report and available What's one of the things we've talked about a lot with this serams team is the fact that you can probably get after Matthew Stafford the fact that they were running so well and not like literally running the football But running well in terms of these pressure numbers the fact that he wasn't pressured as much the fact that the pressures did not turn into Sax at a very high rate and so when you have a weakness that is kind of a long the offense of line Attack all one of the things you could see here is Bosa who is it seems healthy Available to go out and get one of those sacks one plus sack is Once plus 163 over at draft Kings and I think that's going to be part of it But what's going to be interesting is if you look at some of the numbers The Rams are so good at running the ball and especially on early downs last year So they were able to get in a lot of these third and shorts But they weren't really an efficient team on third down

24:02So if you can defend the run better you can get them into some of these third downs Then you can get Nick Bosa going and I think that's going to be a pretty big key So Bosa now plus one 60 to have a sack today. I don't think it's the worst thing the world so we bring this back The defensive props we're gonna make that right We did it a cow bed at the beginning of the year We had some success and then we just got lost in the sauce. Yeah, and then eventually stop But I think so I think it'll be a ton of fun. I'm here for it And I'll try to keep you honest as much as I can when we go through the props every week because thinking of honesty stormy Something clink kubiac doesn't seem to believe in we get off the air yesterday And we get the big news about mr. We're talking about making all these picks Our thought process might be changing a little bit on one game coming up this Sunday Yeah a couple Raiders all pro tight end Brock Bauer's A report came down yesterday as soon as we got off of the air that he underwent a meniscus trim in Dallas and is expected to miss a gamer too This is interesting for a number of reasons but arguably most interesting because of what his head coach Clint Kubiak said a mere hours before this report came down Clint uh you got a couple of players max pros being Brock Bauer's that we're dealing with injuries last year Come out injuries we didn't see backstripened preseason just a little bit of uh Brock Bauer's are both of those guys cleared to play and are they ready to go on something? Yeah, we're expecting to have all our guys ready for sunday

27:11Interesting, I don't know. I don't understand the tact here. I don't I don't get it look From what I understand the Raiders are upset because people are calling them liars your liars they lied Well like I just said the surgery happened on Tuesday. Yes this question was asked on Wednesday. Correct you know the answer They're liars he he outright lied there about Brock Bauer's so here's the thing first off just from like a media standpoint Again, I don't understand this only to coordinate then with Adam's shifter to release the news an hour afterward is annoying But let's remove that because we don't really care about that from our perspective I've been telling you I just I think this Raider team stinks I think they're going to be really bad.
