1:02I want to play this for you since this is Joe Gillio's time slot I will give him the opportunity to speak if you will okay, so How we rose been was on with Joe DeCamer and he said you know essentially I'm paraphrasing Jalen's our guy his track record strong. I wouldn't say it's a maker break year You know that kind of thing and I take his word for value there Now I understand there's a lot of word vomit in that space and you you do player speak coach speak GM speak But that sounded real and authentic to me Joe had an interesting take on how he's comments take a listen to what Gillio said So what do you think do you think it's a maker break here? And do you think there's validity to what Joe is saying about almost Emitting hey, that's a little bit of just GM speak Well It's kind of ridiculous to me anyway to use the term maker break with the guy that said the success that this quarterback has had I mean you can have a in a disappointing year You can have a yet didn't reach my potential year

2:05but make a break He's already made I know I mean that's that's a mean see that's where that's where it turns into lunacy Where it becomes make or you Jalen hurts doesn't face a make or break already did it. Yeah You could have a disappointing season off if he's trying to say make a break in terms of is he gonna be here? I guess you could stretch it to that but my god. I mean how How bad would it have to be to like well can't we can't have the same I love they brought this up what how bad would that have to be so I took All last night right and it was actually a really good back and forth There wasn't one of those Jalen people that you can tell right away. They're just disingenuous and pieces of trash This is one that was actually worthy of having a conversation with and he mentioned He could see a world where they go 10 and seven they don't win the division

3:06All right, so that means Dallas potentially wins the division right you're 10 and seven You're in the wild card spot you win a wild card game Which means you're winning a playoff game. You're losing in the divisional round and You're telling Jalen hurts. I'm sorry. You got to go So I'm going hold on a second. You're telling me First year under Sean Manion You're incorporating this brand new offense life without AJ Brown You're winning 10 games as a team. You're winning a playoff game You have an opportunity to bring back Manion and Jalen together and build off of that foundation. You just set And you're telling him you're going to kick him to the curb because that's not good enough Ten wins, but wild card. I know it's a wild card round and it's not anything crazy But it's a playoff win you could run it back with Manion Which you've never been able to really get to do before with Jalen having no C and marry it together for a bit And he's saying that type of season in his eyes should result in Jalen not being the quarterback the following season

4:11How much are we? How much are we? Do you think how we rose me with that scenario would kick Jalen hurts to the curb? I don't think so, but I don't know what the demand would be for contract. I mean, that's the other but you can here's the luxury we have You can find a wet Jalen Carter's cap it this year is like nine million dollars. Yeah And no matter what the number says when the graphics tweeted out by his agent Oh, he's the highest paid 50 million and then you go see the cap it is like oh, it's 19 million dollar cap it And it's how he's not going to allow it to affect him to a level where he's ham he's handcuffed No, I would think the you know if it comes to it People are trying to play out the worst case scenario before there's even a thick copy that's the worst case scenario 10 wins in a wild card win I would think a The head coach would be it and that's even ridiculous to think with the amount of success that they've had Everyone should be back in that situation and that hypothetical everyone should be back In that hypothetical now I've made if it goes sideways completely sideways like like my only fear is I look at this and I'm like why

5:15Why is there so much? Assuredness that the whole offense had to change Let's just assume the running game is better Does everything have to change? I hear you, but I think at that point it's a it's a tweak and not a full-on change But it sounds like a full-on change every time I tune in now I listen and it's like it's a full-on change like the Oh, this is going to be so much different these I'm like, why would it be that much difference for a quarterback that's had this much success To change everything. Well, see I think we overblow it. I really do I think there's going to be mechanics that are different. They're going to add and incorporate under center play action But in the grand scheme of things it's if you can run the ball efficiently and effectively and that's their DNA And then off of a run design. There is a play action Play under center that builds off of that It's a new wrinkle But the foundation of running the football letting that set the tone and having players bite because they think say quan's going to get the ball Like it's going to be different. They'll be pre-snat movement and all that stuff

6:19But I don't think the fundamental view of run heavy lean on your own line Be aggressive with say quan let that be the bread and butter and then have plays off of that I know it's a very vanilla way to look at it But I don't think it's going to be like as like what's border we watching? Well, I mean I've listened now. It's like oh, it's going to be like chip Kelly came in all of a sudden and change I mean, it's not going to be like that look the NFL if you're going to be a successful team To me your quarterback your entire judgment becomes third down That's what it is and then we're in third and long because they could run the ball here. They're exactly It's third down on what's going on and given a fair um Fair chance at it not third and forever whatever They'd have to be better at that. That's where maybe I think that's when you start reliant on how you how comfortable your quarterback is That's where I'm fearful that in those situations they force things. Oh, I feel good on third and short

7:21You're giving me third and three with jaylin. I feel yeah, but but now you're telling me everything's changing I don't know. I have felt very comfortable with that. I think it is changing, but it's not as It is a big change, but I do feel that it's one of those things where okay in sports They say when you're really good the difference in going from really good to great is you just the finer details are tuned right I think it's one of those things where we're tuning and dialing in and detailing, but It's It's not this Same thing. I don't know if I'm doing a good job explaining this is a problem because it's my job to explain it to the people But that's how I feel and it's going to have layers and interesting little wrinkles and newness because you can't continue to run the same thing for five seasons in the NFL Guys like vik fanzier will pick up on your tendencies like this So we can't save it fanjos a genius and he figures out OCs and then think we can just run the same thing into the ground for five straight seasons

8:25You got to find newness to keep it fresh and all that stuff But that's what it more is it's keeping up with the times getting fresh But you're not losing who you are from a fundamental standpoint of what makes you great if that makes sense It does so that's kind of how I feel about it. All right, let's go to Steven in Elverson. What's up, Steven? Hey, bro, but what's up? So I think the Eagles are still a pretty good team Like I think it comes down to whether or not the Vante Smith can really replace AJ Like I don't think the drop off there's gonna be that much I mean might probably where my big concern is is that drop off at number two though because the Obviously, I think wicks is solid But he's nowhere near the player that the Vante Smith is that that is a big drop I think and then with Jaylen. I think Jaylen is a pretty good quarterback I don't think he's in a week quarterback or a bad quarterback. I think he's a good quarterback I think he needs to run more and I think he just needs time to get comparable in this new system

9:25So I think this team now was going to be mainly a defensive team. I think their defense is just Absolutely insane has potential to be one of the three best defenses in football and I say probably ten or eleven wins in the division again Yeah, I have them in the 12 range I don't know if ten wins the division. I guess you could see a world where eleven would but they win ten I don't know if they necessarily win the division But I'm with you on on a lot of what you're saying here I do worry about that wide receiver two spot because the last image we saw of lemon was in great in the preseason Not to write him off, but it wasn't a sharp start He was limited due to the injury all throughout camp so it's a slow start just from getting reps And that standpoint and I don't know what wicks is so yeah I think we can have real good success and I appreciate the call Steven with Devontay Smith as the number one wide receiver, but what follows that I I don't know I really don't know you lost a hija I mean much I mean he wanted out. It's not the Eagles fun. The guy wanted to leave it's it's not like they you went to that crappy place up in new England too

10:27That place is just filled with filthy humans well, it's like I just came from there I was like believe me they are dying up there because of the the other brown coming here it's Oh Jaylen Brown. Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah, they just do a farewell party for him up there or he up on the common He did something he gave a big party Everyone for school this guy's a real deal. You've always said that about him about who he is off the court He's terrific. He's just to really gonna love him here. I mean they're just distraught I mean it goes beyond sports politicians are distraught everybody's like we lost this guy this guy was like the keys to the city What the hell and then to see that was kind of cool to see what's going on there I can't wait for his attitude coming into this season what's going on But AJ didn't want to be here if somebody doesn't want to be here What are you gonna do? I mean you just have to make the best of it But I I look I'm still a little confused with the with the jalen hurts thing. It's like I I no matter what the sport I tend to think the better coaches

11:32Fit things to their players rather than the other way around I'd be my only worry with the eagles is I just wonder if they're not doing it a little bit backwards trying to fit a system and the players don't fit the system It just seems a little forced on and what's gone on it hurts for his part hasn't Complain much about I mean he's been through so many changes from college on any deals with all of that really well But I mean I just I always wonder when it's like It's this really needed do you really need this this big change and as you said the big change might just be An echo chamber that we're hearing and it isn't all that That much different, but I do know all this as a football fan you're watching and as soon as he's under center It's a look at the big change. Yeah, this is gonna happen. Yeah, and a lot of it is okay. How's the running back on to do? It's just changes everything well. I guess my argument would be When you do make the tweak and you think about scheme and your players and your personnel and making it all work and blend together

12:33That is what Sean Manian is here to do if they hire Sean Manian and when how he rose been and Jeffrey Lawy sit down with them and they say Here you go. This is what you got Bring your scheme in and do it your way There had to have been a conversation a little bit more in depth of how do you take what you do? How do you marry it together with the skill set of our players and then from there we push forward It can't just be hey, we like Kyle Shanahan's offense make that work with this guy It's how can you work with his skill set his attributes his strengths his weaknesses How do you bring in your strengths your ideas your concepts look at our wide receiver core look at our back How do we make this work that is why the offensive coordinator gets paid the money that they do That's the equation they have to figure out if it's just this blanket here's the scheme we like Go make it work then they're misguided to begin with that that's never gonna work from a standard practice standpoint

13:35What I'm hearing that's why when I hear people say you know I won't mind if they go Three at the beginning because it's gonna take a while to to get this right or whatever to adjust I'm like why you're a good team why Why would you venture that far from the success that you've had if your success is This is the quarterback we have our main focus is don't turn the ball over and play conservative It's been pretty darn successful And then last year was an off year in terms of a running game stuff like that's like so why Why would you have that big of a change that's the only thing that worries me about this season like I'm wondering if there was a necessity And maybe it's just the words like you said People focus so much on the Eagles that where we're being kind of sold this thing that there's a monster change Let me pay you this picture if they still commit to not turning it over if they get back to establishing the run And the only thing that changes is the way they pass instead of the same routes that other teams knew were coming in an aj

14:42Stop in eight yards, you know that basic crap and those elements change is is Is that as drastic as it was made out to be because you're still running the ball heavily You're still working with the idea of we're not turning the rock over we're keeping the possession of of the football in our hands And you're really just changing How you pass the ball if you're only passing I guess my point is this if you're passing the ball 25 times and not 45 times Which we know they like to do right if you're really just changing how 13 of those 25 throws look and you're running the ball a ton and you're still staying with your fundamentals and all that Then would you see that working? Yeah, I think that being enough of a change, but not too much of a change I would look that as a change. I mean that's why I'm like on I'm an earth's proponent like to bring a guy into To have that kind of a player If you're gonna want to throw the ball more and go to the middle more stuff like that That's where I would think okay, we could use some of that but overall

15:44I don't I don't find that this was a team that really needed the the shakeup that some people are Suggesting that it needed to be that good for that many seasons. I know I feel you I mean you're talking philosophy here now you as a coaching staff. I mean, you know don't turn it over I'd rather have that I mean that's all I about here from coaches and like just don't win the turnover batter When the turnover battle now I'm hearing like I don't care if they throw three interceptions like what the hell That I agree with in fact actually did a show where I said I want them to be Because everyone's talking about passing game this that the third and I do value the passing game and we'll talk about the passing game I want them to get back to that feeling when you knew as the defense going up against Eagles offense You knew they were running the ball. Yeah, you knew exactly what was coming and you couldn't do anything about it and by the third quarter I would watch defensive tackles on the other team huff and puff because they were out of energy and guess what There were two quarters to go there was yeah 16 minutes left in the game and we were still gonna run the ball down your throat and you couldn't do anything about

16:47I want to be a run heavy run first team and let the play design of play action under center Build off of what you you do it's the foundation I want the foundation to be run run run run run and then the passing game is the second layer off the run game That's what I want and that's where you missing a j brown. There's your knockout punch the running game 10 if you're into boxing is the body punch body punch body punch and then you work and work and work and work Later round you just bury him That's where missing a j brown to me is that's where there's the risk and we'll see what I mean I don't know what the rookie can do. I think D'Amante is terrific. Mm-hmm, but man There's I think you people have to necessarily minimize losing a player like that. You want to be here? Simple as that.
