Geico presents a 30-second podcast between your podcast.
Today's story is shared by one of our listeners.
It's called Betrayed by Bill.
It was in that moment I caught who was staring back at me in betrayal, or more like what?
My insurance bill, with trembling hands, I grabbed my phone and switched to Geico,
saving about $900 in the process, and never to be betrayed again.
Now that was bloody riveting.
It feels good when the story ends with savings.
It feels good to Geico.

Morning Run with Amy and TJ.
And I heart radio podcast.
Good morning, everyone, and welcome to Morning Run.
It is Friday, April 17th. I made me robots.
And I'm TJ Holmes, big day for us.
Really, really big day, because there's a big horror movie,
and we are nervous to go to it.
Rose, this is everything.
Folks, the mummy is coming out.
Lee Cronin's the mummy is out now, and it has us nervous.
You were looking at reviews right before we started.
What was the one that was funny?
The meal one you talked about?
Yes, someone.
So by the way, they have all been very passionate.
These critics have either loved it or hated it,
but mostly the biggest complaint is that it's just too scary.
And maybe it's too long to be that scary,
that intensely scared.
So I thought that was pretty telling,
but this was the funny one from the Wall Street Journal.
It is advisable not to see the movie immediately after a meal,
or really, ever.
That is the Wall Street Journal's critic.
Okay, and for us to hear that means we need to run to the theater.
So this is happening today, noon showing.
And we are going to put it, we're going to do the episode afterwards.
Either we'll put it up tonight or tomorrow,
but we'll definitely have a review for you on the mummy,
and let you know whether or not we think you should see it.
All right, that's how we're going to start on this Friday,
wherever you may be.
Hope you're getting off to a good start on this Friday.
We got a lot of stops to make on this morning's run all over the country,
all over the world.
But let's begin, Rob, you have question marks in the script here next to it
when you say hopeful news.
Yes, I said, we will begin our run with some hopeful news.
Because unfortunately, you just can't trust the source.
And when I say the source, you'll understand,
President Trump is telling reporters that the war with Iran
should be ending pretty soon.
He said Iran has agreed to hand over nuclear dust
that was buried by US air strikes last summer.
A couple of things here.
How long haven't we heard pretty soon?
Shouldn't be long.
I think it was two, three weeks.
So we've heard that a lot.
And that's why we have to wonder,
can we believe what we're hearing now?
Nuclear dust.
I heard that said several times.
I'm glad you put this in here,
but he's been referring to highly enriched uranium as nuclear dust.
So if they agreed to hand all that over a rogue,
that is a really big development.
So the president told reporters there's a lot of agreement
going on with Iran.
He did this on his way to Marine One on Thursday.
He said, quote, I think something's going to happen.
Very positive, very important.
And when he landed in Vegas, he later told a crowd at an event there.
The war with Iran is going along swimmingly.
It should be ending pretty soon.
Trump also announced a 10-day ceasefire between Israel and Lebanon,
which seems to be holding.
I guess it took effect at 5 p.m.
Eastern time on Thursday.
Did he really say swimmingly?
He said swimmingly.
That was a direct quote.
The war with Iran is going swimmingly?
Yes.
Also a word of a possible second round of talks.
I've been talking about this a lot over the past couple of days
and thought something could even happen this weekend.
But nothing confirmed, yes, the two sides.
That was just last week.
They met in Pakistan with no deal coming out of that.
All right, next up on the run, the director of ICE is stepping down.
Todd Lions had been serving as the acting director since March of last year
and oversaw that controversial ICE operation
that played out on our TV screens every night in Minneapolis, LA,
you name the Chicago, you name the city.
All right, announcement that he's stepping down came on the same day.
He actually testified before Congress about ICE operations.
Don't know if those two things were connected at all,
but the hearing wasn't necessarily,
it didn't go swimmingly for him.
We should say continue on the run here.
Now, Dr. Erica Schwartz has been nominated as the new director of the CDC.
The agency has been without a permanent director for just about all of Trump's second term.
I saw one person's calculation.
One outlet saying that there's only been one month
that there's been a permanent CDC director in his entire second term.
Wow. Well, Schwartz served as deputy surgeon general during the first Trump
administration. She is a retired rear admiral with the Coast Guard
and she is a actual real doctor.
Yes, continuing on the run here now.
Some promising news we're told now coming out of the Nancy Guthrie case.
Yeah, there is an update here.
We need to put this fully in contact.
So been a lot of headlines about it,
but the FBI is now just received potentially critical DNA
that was recovered from Nancy Guthrie's home nearly three months ago.
Officials confirmed a hair sample that came from more than one person
is now being analyzed.
And Robes, I was asking you a bunch of questions about this.
This isn't newly discovered DNA.
They've just been able to do something new with it now.
Correct. So the Pima County Sheriff's Department had already described
and had already told reporters about this hair sample,
but describing it as being so tangled,
they said it could take up to six months to separate the strands.
Before they'd be able to test them, which is kind of confusing to me.
But apparently now, yes, FBI officials confirmed
the Sheriff's Office originally sent that hair sample
to a private lab in Florida 11 weeks later.
That lab is now transferred an original hair sample
to the FBI laboratory for testing.
We remain fully committed to this investigation.
So the hope is that this hair sample could lead to a suspect.
So that is what the hope is.
Of course, Nancy Guthrie has been missing since February 1st.
I want to continue on this Friday run now.
And I guess the FBI's 10 most wanted fugitives
when you put them on that list.
It works. They catch these folks
because they put somebody on that list.
And the very next day, that person got caught.
We're talking about Koshan Nikola Roper arrested in Florida
after being on the run for nearly six years.
That's right. A tip was called in from that announcement,
which offered a reward of up to $1 million
for information leading to Roper's arrest.
So that million dollars got someone talking.
Roper is accused of killing one woman and injuring another
after shooting into a vehicle during a fight.
If this happened in August of 2020,
again, she's been on the run for six years.
She's now being held without bond in a Florida jail.
But that's undeniable.
You put out the list the next day.
She's arrested.
Million dollars, though.
It's motivating.
I wouldn't turn you in for a million,
but eight figures.
I would at least sit down and talk about it.
It's understandable.
Isn't she, she was one of only two women.
There's still one woman on the most woman list.
Okay. She was, wow, one woman on that one day.
All right, continuing on the run here now.
Utah Valley University has dropped its
plan commencement speaker.
New York Times bestselling author and
podcaster Sharon McMahon.
Ropes, you were getting me caught up on this.
I'm still trying to get a hand on this.
This is a crazy story.
We're going to go into more detail on this.
Look for this on the weekend because this is a big story.
So there was a growing outcry
among some students and Republican officials
who are very public about how they felt
about McMahon because of some past comments she made
about Charlie Kirk.
Let's remind you the university was in fact
the site of Kirk's assassination last September.
So you can understand why that would be extra sensitive
in terms of that subject matter.
And wouldn't that also mean you'd be extra careful
about who you choose as your commencement speaker?
One would think.
Okay, so McMahon published some posts.
Okay, they've been deleted now,
but this is what she wrote shortly after his assassination.
Quote, it's important to remember that the incredible tragedy
of a public assassination does not erase the harm
many experienced from his words
and the ensuing actions his followers took in quote.
Yes, so she put out some statements
that upset folks because they claimed they were taken
out of context and so to have now her come
and give the commencement address at the same university
where he was assassinated.
Just didn't sit well with a lot of people.
So UVU said it's no longer going to have a speaker at all
for the April 29th graduation ceremony.
And they told students it was because of this
due to increased safety concerns related to the speaker
and in consultation with public safety professionals
and Sharon McMahon, Utah Valley University has decided
to proceed without a featured commencement speaker
for this year's ceremony.
So it sounds like she was getting threats.
But wait a minute, what's the official word?
Did they, they said it was safety concerns
but not drop her necessarily the right way to put it.
They're not saying we are dropping her
because of her past comments.
They're saying they're dropping her
because of security concerns.
Okay.
And that is most likely based on her past comments.
What has she said?
You said there's a kind of a back and forth going on.
Well, her people put out a very defiant defense basically
of the post she put out initially saying,
look, she never, ever, ever didn't acknowledge the tragedy
and how awful it was.
And she condemned the killing and shooting of Charlie Kirk.
She was never, ever on that page.
But it's, she still felt like it was important
to provide the context in which Charlie Kirk lived his life.
Wow, what do you do with that?
I guess to some that could be offensive
but what an opportunity to do what exactly
Charlie Kirk was trying to do.
That's what they were saying.
Yes, absolutely.
This was in the spirit of the dialogue
you can have different opinions about messaging
but she never was one of those folks
who was celebrating his death or in fact,
she was very clear in her posts
even when she took issue with his beliefs
and what he had said.
She's never took issue with the fact
that he should not have suffered any violence.
You're right, we should talk about you are saying
this is a good story and we should talk about this.
It really is.
It's really interesting.
It feels like right now a missed opportunity
to do something special on that campus.
But we'll get into that later.
Continue on the run here now.
Police investigating a bomb threat
at the suburban Chicago home of one of Pope Leo's brothers,
John Prevost.
Police say the threat came in around 6.30 Wednesday night.
Officers secured a perimeter around Prevost's home.
They even evacuated all the neighbors in the area.
They took this very seriously.
But after a thorough search of the residents
and the surrounding property,
police determined that the threat was, quote, unsubstantiated.
So no active investigation.
Oh, excuse me, there is now an active investigation.

Gated into who made this threat,
and of course, making a false report
is a series of events could result in criminal charges.
Rob, yes, it could be a coincidence,
but really right now with the back and forth
with Trump and the Pope.
And this happens.
And this happens.
It's why I'm sure they took it even more seriously
because the rhetoric was out of fever pitch this week
and that could have possibly
incited or motivated somebody to do something
based on this few that's going on,
this public few between Trump and the Pope.
All right, next up on the run,
former Virginia Lieutenant Governor Justin Fairfax
was facing a deadline to move out of his family home
when he decided to kill his wife
and then himself instead according to police.
So shocking, really a devastating story out of,
this is a tragedy in a lot of ways,
but Fairfax and his wife were still living
in the same home, but we're going through a divorce.
According to court records now,
a judge had ordered Fairfax to move out of the family home
by April 30th.
Their bodies were found yesterday,
early yesterday at their home in Anondale,
police say Fairfax shot his wife in the basement
and went upstairs, shot himself in the bedroom.
And sadly, their teenage children were at the house
at the time of the shooting.
It was their oldest son who was the one to call 911.
So hearts just go out to those kids
that just is an unspeakable and unthinkable tragedy
to have to live through.
All right, well, stay with us here on this Friday morning
run when we come back.
We have an update on the president's ballroom
on the White House lawn.
Essentially, well, a judge has stepped in,
has said, stop building that thing
and he even gave the administration a slap on the wrist.
We'll explain also another person has lost a job
in that whole NFL coach, NFL reporter scandal.
We'll explain.
And top gun.
You do not have to wait another 30 years for a sequel.
Construction of the much talked about.
Does they welcome back?
You didn't.
You just went right into the spread.
Yeah, I'm excited.
Okay, let's go right into it.
Let me try that again.
Let's run it back.
So what I'm saying is I'm really glad you're all
here on this Friday.
I hope you're doing well.
And we're going to continue on this Friday morning run
with construction of the much talked about
and controversial big, beautiful ballroom.
Well, construction robes must stop.
That's right.
A federal judge issued a ruling yesterday
ordering the Trump administration
to halt construction of the $400 million ballroom.
And this is the second time he's had to tell them
to stop building.
Bro, this is so good.
The previous order in March had ordered
that the construction stopped.
But the administration found a way around that order
by arguing that construction was a matter of national security.
They say if it's not finished,
it's exposing some part underneath
that could lead to the executive mansion.
So we have to complete the construction.
Well, the judge didn't appreciate that response
and called their effort ropes incredible and disingenuous.
Yes, he also called their argument unreasonable
and not a correct reading of his order.
He wants Congress.
He says they need to approve the construction.
It shouldn't be something that a president should be able to do.
It's not his house.
I believe he said initially, it's the people's house.
He's the guardian, the custodian of the house,
but he is not the owner of the house.
He doesn't get to make those decisions
without Congress's approval.
The house is going to be a mess for a while
if they don't get this cleaned up.
The problem is it's already been destructed.
So you're going to have to construct something.
All right.
We're going to go on the run here now.
Somebody else has now lost a job in the fallout
from those photos appearing to show a very close relationship
between New England Patriots, head coach, Mike Vrable
and NFL reporter Diana Rusini.
Now, Rusini, we got word this week,
has already resigned her position from the Atlantic,
which is the athletic.
The athletic.
You said the Atlantic, but it was close.
The athletic.
What's the Atlantic?
It's a magazine.
It is as well.
Yeah, it's a circulation.
Yeah, the Atlantic.
I've almost said it a couple times
because that's why when you did it, I was like,
oh, I've almost done that.
It's the athletic.
You were ready.
You were on it.
Because my mind has gone there several times, too.
OK.
Well, yes, Diana Rusini worked for the athletic,
which is the sports arm of the New York Times.
She's at a long time NFL reporter.
But yes, those photos came out.
They are what they are, but clearly showing a closeness
to the two of them that if you saw the pictures
and had no idea who they are, you would assume
they were a couple.
It's the best way to put it.
Yes.
And the New York Times was investigating.
The athletic was investigating to see
if it even showed even a suggestion of impropriety.
And so she resigned.
But then USA Today Sports has severed its relationship
with reporter Chrissy Freud for a social media post
where she put out disparaging Rusini.
This was her tweet.
I'm sure you were told to submit this
or that you'd get fired instead.
Don't let the door hit you on the way out.
We know who you really are and what you've been up to for years.
It does so much detriment to women in sports
who have done things the right way.
Ouch.
If that's how she felt, that's how she felt.
You said it earlier before we got out.
You said, Roads, why kick her when she's down?
Yeah, she's lost her reputation.
She's lost her job.
She, I'm sure, is trying to repair some damage done
with her family.
And it's unnecessary to kick her while she's down.
She's going to say she has a right to speak.
She has a right to speak her mind.
She has a right to do whatever.
But that tweet shows more about Chrissy
than it does about Rusini right now.
I mean, somebody is really devastating.
Even if it's of her own doing the Rusini thing.
That was a tough one.
She's so unnecessary.
It was very mean girl.
OK, so USA Today Sports did put out a statement.
They let her go.
She said, ended its contractor relationship
with Chrissy Ford effective immediately.
It said, her recent statements do not
reflect our commitment to professionalism
or uphold our principles of ethical conduct.
She just put out something she felt was a, what does she know?
She's saying as if it's facts, she says, ah, she's
implying that, yes, exactly what you think.
I don't even want to add to it.
All right, for the final leg of our run,
we had to wait 36 years.
I didn't even realize that.
For a sequel to the original Top Gun, well,
we're not going to have to wait that long for the next one.
Because yes, it is official.
Top Gun 3 is happening.
Yeah, it's been rumored and talked about
with a made it officially official.
Yesterday Paramount made the announcement
at Cinemacons been happening in Vegas this week.
So Top Gun, Maverick, everybody will remember,
made $1.5 billion at the box office.
That's a huge hit.
What was the budget?
I think just under 200 million.
So it was a huge, huge hit.
But Robes, I think I forgot how phenomenal it was
because this was still coming out of the pandemic.
This was a pandemic era movie.
And Tom Cruise played a very crucial role
in getting the movie industry going again.
I forgot how much credit he should be given
in that movie and everybody for really getting the ball rolling
again at box offices.
So it's good to hear Top Gun.
I don't know.
I didn't see when they said it was going to be coming out though.
The part three.
Wow, we need a day.
But yes, we will obviously be going immediately
to the theaters as soon as that comes out.
And look, we normally, we're going to go to our court
of the day, but it's interesting because this quote,
I was inspired by a Pete Hegseth story
that you can find on our feed just before morning run.
Wow, OK.
This is, I can't wait to hear this.
You were inspired by Pete Hegseth.
The Pete Hegseth story, we love everyone to check it out.
It is the episode right before this,
where we talk about Pete Hegseth, I can't talk.
Pete Hegseth's prayer that he read aloud
during his weekly prayer vigil.
But unfortunately for him, that really
wasn't a prayer from the Bible.
It actually was a quote from Paul Fiction.
Yeah, it was a great quote from Samuel L. Jackson,
right before he killed a guy.
Yeah, if you know the movie, you will know the scene
and the line, we'll follow you with furious anger.
And I will strike down those who oppose me.
And you will know my name is the Lord that that whole scene.
Right, so we actually, this is great.
We go through line by line and you can hear it's indisputable.
It is verbatim.
Pete Hegseth is quoting Paul Fiction.
So anyway, the Pentagon's response is pretty funny because.
Put on brand.
But it's completely on brand because they only blame the media.
He cannot admit that he didn't know
that he was quoting Paul Fiction.
So quote of the day, everybody.
That was all too set up my quote of the day.
And look, not just Pete Hegseth, all of us
are guilty of this.
This is interesting.
Heal.
So you can hear what's being said
without the filter of your wound.
Heal.
Yeah, because you do.
You've everything goes through the pain you had before.
Everything gets filtered through.
How you, right, in that relationship.
Through your insecurities, through a trigger that you may have.
And so even if someone didn't mean to whatever,
for instance, Pete Hegseth has said, oh my gosh, that's so funny.
I loved what these guys were saying,
but I didn't even put two into it.
Just to admit it and have fun with it and enjoy it
and lean into it, but he couldn't admit he can't stand
to think that someone might believe he doesn't know the Bible
or that he's been fooled or that he didn't know exactly
what he was saying.
And that is your ego.
And look, we've all been in that position.
I'm not trying to just point the finger at him,
but it just brought this up for each of us in our own lives
if we can remember and recall, hey, wait,
am I responding to something through my pain of a past grievance
or am I actually listening to what's being said in its reality?
And that's something we all, if we can be more aware of it,
we can help conversations and prepare relationships.
Well, I love how you humanized Pete Hegseth.
It wasn't to his benefit necessarily
and the behavior is to his detriment,
but you humanized him in that we all do that.
We're looking at something that seems to be simple.
Yes, you quoted the movie.
What keeps you from just saying, oops, yep.
Make it an opportunity.
We'd love to get Samuel L. to the Pentagon.
I love that movie.
That line was so well written that it inspired our troops.
What else you got?
Can Quentin, Tarantino, what else can you send us?
There was an opportunity here.
To have some fun and lean in.
But it's so hard to admit that we feel foolish
or we feel like we didn't know what we were supposed to know.
So everybody, think about this.
That's a go and robes.
Good one today.
That's not my heart is softening to Pete Hegseth.
It's crap.
Please don't misinterpret what I'm saying,
but he's a human being.
And that is a human response to something.
Oh, man, that was a good one today, right?
Wow.
All right, everybody, once again,
so you can hear it in the back.
Heal.
So you can hear what's being said without the filter
of your wound and without everyone.
Thank you for running with us.
I made me robot.
And I'm TJ home.
Talk to you soon.

Geico presents a 30-second podcast between your podcast.
Today's story is shared by one of our listeners.
It's called Betrayed by Bill.
It was in that moment I caught
who was staring back at me in betrayal,
or more like what?
My insurance bill.
With trembling hands, I grabbed my phone
and switched to Geico,
saving about $900 in the process
and never to be betrayed again.
Now that was bloody riveting.
It feels good when the story ends with savings.
It feels good to Geico.

We all know the feeling when life gets really busy,
taking care of yourself can feel impossible.
That's why Premiere Protein Shakes are my go-to.
They have 30 grams of protein, 160 calories,
no added sugar, and they taste amazing.
So they're a healthy choice you'll actually want to make.
It's not just for fitness, it's for getting after life.
Premiere Protein powers me to say yes to more.

We have all been duped by the so-called
better-for-you ice cream options.
They claim to be just as delicious as regular ice cream,
but it's really more like a mouthful of chalk.
But don't despair, I have good news.
Yasuo is the real deal.
They took everything you crave about ice cream
and upgraded it with creamy frozen Greek yogurt.
Their new spoonables are around 400 calories
per container, 19 grams of protein, and five ridiculous flavors.
And because they know how many of us have been burned
by better-for-you ice cream,
Yasuo is giving away 40,000 and one spoonables.
