Welcome into this week's real conversations.
Chase Parm been critic here with you. We were recording this just before lunch on Friday. As Oxford is being overtaken by everyone in town for Ole Miss and LSU this weekend. We were just having a little pre-show conversation. Been telling me how excited he is to get to the grove around 9 a.m. in the morning and have bloody marries and watch game day from an in-person vantage point before the long day of telegating and the game tomorrow night. It is going to be a zoo. It's already a zoo. Everybody said, LL Langley went well last night. So everybody enjoyed that. They were at the pavilion for that event. It's definitely a week. A lot of stuff going on here. It's by the time you heard this, you'll either be in a fantastic mood or an awful mood, depending on the outcome of Saturday's game. But I tell you, people are going to be listening to this 839-3010 o'clock, whatever time on Sunday morning, the first people. And they're going to be at a time that I'm kind of ready for.
Ben is, you know, I wrote about this in my around the horn column that I do every week at Rebels 247. And I'm thankful. Look, we can be covering a team. It doesn't have storylines that isn't playing in big games. I've seen the game in over my 20 plus years covering Ole Miss and I've seen everything. So I am. I'm very thankful. It's been a great week. You guys have responded at Rebels 247 from a sub standpoint, from a listen standpoint. I appreciate you more than you know. I'm also ready for Sunday morning. I'm ready for the circus to get out of town. I am ready to wake up on Sunday morning. Having talked about it on the post game show, after having a good day, hopefully. I'm going to get to see some people on Saturday afternoon. And then, uh, pour my cup of coffee. And the circus be packing up and headed on out. And just some normalcy. And this to be done. And I don't mean it in a bad way. But it's been an exhausting week of just needing to have an opinion about everything.
And it's been an opinion about everything that hasn't had to do with football and everything else. It's, you know, it's like it's like WrestleMania's in town a little bit. And I think it's time to, it's time to move on. I like my normalcy and it has not been normal here this week, Benjamin. When did it start? Like the crate like Tuesday? You mean town? Like you had town for your Wednesday. It's the first started really noticing a difference. I went by Wednesday afternoon to see John's halty at his signing at all square books. And you were definitely noticing a difference. And then, um, yeah, so I got out. I did that. I went by and Richard Cross and his family opened their new yogurt shop this week. So I went by the air and checked him out on the soft opening day. And, um, just kind of did some air and stuff. I was trying to see some people and whatever because I knew that was it. I knew starting Thursday morning. Uh, I'm out. Don't, don't, don't, don't get me anywhere around the square.
I'm good. We had dinner a lot on Thursday night, but we went to Laskos out in Taylor. We went the other direction did not go toward all the pandemonium downtown. It's, it's in full effect. It's, uh, it's there. And it will, it always lasts for anybody who gets out of town and Oxford really quickly. It lasts through about 12 to one o'clock on Sunday, like breakfast places on Sunday. Forget about it. Like they will be jam packed. Yeah. But then after that, it will start to dissipate and move on. But no, I'm, I'm, I'm ready to, I'm ready to get to Sunday. I like my Sundays. Let's do that. And, and yeah, this is, I think that's what's crazy is, you know, we were in Pittsburgh since Tuesday. We got back last night. So we, we, we kind of got away from all the, the madness, the talking, you know, you didn't really look at your phone and that's where soon we got kind of to short it last night. We saw air by sort of getting on their phones or whatever. And it was just like you, you're already back in, you know, with all the craziness and laying act like doing it.
Lane does and, you know, people having all their opinions. It's like, it's like we kind of got away from it for a couple of days. Because it is a, I mean, it's a madness. I mean, it's, it's the people online. And, you know, it's, it's, it's amazing how many coaches are out there on Twitter or X, you know, telling golding what he needs to do. 60 year old man. I mean, you know, never played sport, but again, it's, that sounds kind of a jerk, but it's going to be. I heard a report the other day that said, they're expecting 400,000, have you heard that 400,000 people in Oxford? So I was talking to somebody with a city about this today. And I do think over 300,000 over the course of whatever they classify to be the game weekend. I don't know the hours that are on there. Yeah. But I do think that to be true, because look, there's some margins of error in the way it's tracked. So it's tracked through cell phone data. And I guess if you technically had an iPad and a phone on you and your iPad had cell your service, that would count for two.
But let's even say there's 10% 15% overages. You're still talking about 275 to 310,000 people in a town that has a, a census population, I think of 27,000. So do that math. So what you're saying is they can, they can track people. That what you're saying. I don't want to say on air how much they can track people. Yes, I can tell you once we hang up. But that's awesome. Yeah, that's makes you feel better. But okay, it's two things. Is it ridiculously busy? Yes, it's a huge game. And what she was going to bring a ton of people and everybody's a little more fired up than usual because of Lancaster. Yes. But I also wrote this this morning. I'm kind of in look. This is on Jeff Langerie, the governor of Louisiana. This is on the rendering from a lot of the media that that covers LSU. Is people are acting like it's a freaking war zone. It's just a football game. Yeah.
Is there a possibility of something happening? Are there being violence? Yes. Just like it every SEC football game across the South every Saturday. It's all the same. And anything that happened in every one of those, any of those. So I mean, acting like Ole Miss has not hosted a big football game before. Has never had this sort of amount of people at one time. And it's not. Yeah, stupid. That's just occasions being occasions. I mean, we said this and we first started doing the show. When you're in town and it fits right now as much as anything. When you're in town this weekend, don't be an asshole. Yeah. And it will be busy and it will be whatever, but it'll be all right. That's the answer. We should have had shirts print up for this weekend. It's still. I mean, just don't be an asshole, man. Where'd you get that shirt? That's the chasing man. Don't be an asshole. Don't be an asshole. It's a good life advice. Yeah, it's just being a good guy. I mean, yeah, it's going to be fine though, man. I guess it's going to be fine. I think it's exciting to have games that matter.
You know, we went for so long where games didn't matter. And our heads, they matter, but you know, the public didn't matter. But these games matter, which is awesome. It's going to be fine. Like looking forward to it, looking forward to seeing everybody and seeing some good football and then getting out of there. Fast. Ben is wearing a pirate's cap. He went to his first baseball, and measly baseball game over over the week. I think you went to three of them. Two of them. Maybe three. Do you do three? Okay. Three three. Obviously, Connor Griffin from Jackson and hanging out, seeing his boy. So he's become a bandwagon pirates fan. Here in the in the past week. And look, you got to do a lot of cool things when I'm necessarily rehash that or you can rehash as much you want to. But what? I guess over arcing just in the middle of this busy season, you've had, you know, in the college and everything else. The ability to get away for a few days to do something new,
to be something cool, to hang out with some people you really like, to see somebody you've known, excel at the level they have. Obviously with what Connor has been able to do. What is this last three or four days just meant to you? Man, it's been, it's been amazing. I get it really has a told Hillary, Melanie, I guess it was Wednesday. You know, it's when you're around, really good people. Um, it just like to me, that's what life's about. Just enjoying whatever you're doing and, and you know, it was Reed Hogan and his daughter married Connor. So that's how that whole deal worked. And with another buddy Charles and, you know, it's just going to your first major league baseball game. For me was, it was really cool. Like Pittsburgh is not what I thought it would be. I guess it's, have you ever been to Pittsburgh? I've been to Philadelphia. I've not been to Pittsburgh. No, it's crazy. Like it's literally like you. It's hard to describe. I don't know if people that have been there can probably do it better than me, but it's like you're all, you're just kind of riding through the, I say the back was somewhat just roll area.
And then all of a sudden you go through the, you know, the back was somewhat just roll area. And then all of a sudden you go through this tunnel that's cut through this hill. And all that when you come out of the tunnel, it's just a city. Like it's, it's something like you see it more. I get Disney. You know what I mean? It's just like trees, grass, all of a sudden boom. Skyscraper. And it's a cool city. It's a really neat city. It kind of remind me a little bit of Nolan's, you know, some of the buildings. The, you know, a lot of old stuff, but. But you know, it was really cool, man, because it won't, you know, we put all this together during the game. So you had Connor batting. And then you had Jake Mangum, who played at Jackson Prep also. You know, Jake was batting ninth, Connor was batting first, lead off. She had two players who went to the same house, school and, and little Mississippi, playing in the majors. Getting back back. Yeah, then you had Gonzalez, who played on this, National Championship team at Ole Miss. Then you had, then you had Cooper Pratt, who was committed Ole Miss. You know, he played a shortstop for the,
the brewer. So it's like, you had all these Ole Miss stay, you know, ties. And it's like you got two major league clubs playing, and you knew, you knew half the kid. I mean, you knew five of them. You know what I'm saying? To me, that was really, I asked kids on the same major league field at the same time. It's crazy. I mean, and then we're going to have to, I went to Mag Heights. Yeah, we don't know how to tie to him. He's like, like, what the world? I mean, because he was committed Ole Miss, you know, and, but it was neat. It was just really cool. I think that's where I kind of was like, you know, baseball, you hear baseball so big in the state of Mississippi. But when you, when you literally see two of the best players on the Pirates are from Mississippi, and then you got, you know, then you got the Ole Miss ties with Cooper and the Gonzalez. It's like, I take Coach Clamett during the game. I'll send him a picture. And he's like, one of my favorite dudes. He's like, he is the best guy, you know. And anyway, I find stuff like that to me is, while I love sports and the connections and,
the friendships and just sitting down watching some baseball. Like, I've never done that where I can just sit through nine endings and enjoy it. You know, I mean, we're right behind home plate. It's, you know, the seats are great. Got to go on the field. Connor was great. Just genuine. He's just a great young man. It's wise phenomenal. Just a great family. It was just fine, man. Like, I can't really, you know, it was a great experience. I'm glad I did it. I'm glad I took time to just chill out and go, you know, it's going to have a good time. I can worry about work so much and just go enjoy it. My friends and, you know, the fellowship and just the food and the connections, you know, went to the, uh, went to a museum. Um, oh my gosh. What, what I send you, the, um, oh my god. Number 21, Clemente. He really made an impact on you. I know. I just had a literary, I mean, literally, I'm not a little. A little. 唱 me, literally. Reparticles, I meant to. Yeah. And so went to his, you know, this, this, this,
this… This, this, this, this, this, this. The museum they put together. But underneath the museum, like two floors is where this guy that owned the whole building, he's kind of put together, essentially some stuff. Um, just, you know, if it's bats, if it's the Golden Gloves from him, it's, it's all the different players that have kind of come through the organization and from other teams. be a left alone and you know sent you and Neil some stuff with the cubs and just all these the history of baseball and the guy was telling us all these secrets about Barry Barnes and all I mean it's just like you know it's a bait I'm not a baseball I mean I love I do enjoy baseball but like you like I was telling you before the show started you would have really enjoyed it because he was telling us all these different stories of all these different guys and and it's just neat man like it's just you know how some of the some of the guys like is it Rizzo that played the cubs yeah how awesome he is you know just as a person and just going through all these different stories of him
coming and bringing the buddies down it and then the building it was actually in Bluegair stay it used to be a firehouse and he actually stayed there when it was the firehouse and the early 19th whenever he played forgot they were playing in the world series and he was like kind of a kind of like me and you he didn't want to go hang out with like he want to be left alone he didn't really want a big drink or not kind of stuff partier so he wanted to stay with his buddy in Pittsburgh so he literally stayed at the firehouse you know during that series and just to kind of hang with his buddy and be left alone so he's like all these different stories just a history man like you would eat it up it was neat it was really cool and and the great experience and glad I went got a couple jerseys bunch of shirts why have you never been to a game before of any major league that's my mom and dad man they never took me I mean you know I don't I don't know that's a good question yeah like why I mean I mean like
isn't I mean you you were sports family like you play yeah like I mean you like the deal of like I remember being a kid we just hopped over to Atlanta for a brave game like my parents we never we went we didn't really take a lot of vacations yeah I mean my dad always worked my mom was teaching like we really didn't you know we weren't really braves fans I was more Oakland A's because of the best brothers you know I was more football but I mean I never my first professional football game was we went to the see the rescuers play with my dad it's these a huge rescue thing commanders and then I went and watched hard way a couple times and Eli but like I just I've never been to a lot of professional games I just for whatever reason um just that I haven't but but I'll say this I'll I would go back in a heartbeat to a base I mean to that type of that was fun I mean you know here's the baseball you know it's and I know the
NFL's king and college football's whatever but baseball you know regionally is still incredibly strong you care about your local team your home team and it's it's such a good sport in two ways and I think the I think this is this is important when you're talking about following any why it is survived the level of time and overcome the things that it's done from business standpoint is that it's such a long season because you and I were just talking before the show oh that if Ole Miss loses tomorrow there's gonna be a lot of fans go oh my god whatever I mean I heard one I heard some national idiot I was gonna say writer but no he's a moron I don't know who it was whatever and a moron that was like hey if Ole Miss loses this game I really think it's the end of their program and it's like what you're playing a team that is worth 50 million dollars in salary on the side somebody's got to lose they're good yeah somebody somebody has to lose the game and it's like football has such an intensity on one game and baseball you can just go to a game and if you lose everybody's in the same mood when it's over you still go get pizza and it doesn't really matters
that's a great deal to the damn things like it's not right point you know it's why it's why you can it's why my favorite sport to write about because the player's aren't as intense like those all to you're just kind of hanging out or vice-chillin it's a marathon you can get better stories everything and there's more time to develop it over the course of a season I mean even even at the college level I mean last year I covered 65 baseball games or whatever it was I mean it's a it's a it's a long process and then the other one and this is great for fans is that number one a lot of people at least in our generation and the ones above us played even if it's a little league yeah so you have some understanding of being on the field even if it's very minimal compared to what you're watching on TV and when you watch a baseball game I think that and I know somebody will go hey no basketballs like this to footballs like this soccer's like this I get it but baseball to me is the best sport for what I'm about to say which is it's a great watch no matter what your
knowledge level is if you don't know a lot of baseball and you just want to watch the pitch and the ball you can do that and it's kind of slow you don't have to be staring at it all the time you're just sort of chilling you're at the ballpark you're enjoying the weather and your beer and your peanuts and your popcorn and it's cool I think that's valuable but then if you're really in the minutia and you're trying to watch exactly where this guy is on the rubber or what this guy's doing on his lead off from first base there there's so many intricate details of things moving at the same time that you can watch it at a really acute deep level also so it's perfectly depending on whatever your knowledge base is when you're watching the game oh it's my baseball super oh unbelievable and that's what Connor because I was asking about the what night was it Tuesday night we played against the pitcher you know calling them is best player yeah yeah yeah yeah unbelievable you know do so lucky but he goes man he's literally he goes most
pitchers you know you you you form this you have a lot of data or whatever when you when you compete against him or go against this pit to a typical pitcher but he goes he's so good the data that matter because he he that he literally keeps you guessing like you know O2 this this this I don't second this is what you do this is what you're looking for like you know it's so and like you said it it could be so in depth he's like yeah we spend hours going through the reports you know you have your own stuff your own player match up or whatever and he's like it's pretty intense but you the more I've done it Conor's like the more I get into this there's a flow of it and then you have veterans that literally help you so much and the great ones literally pour into the young guys you know like oh her and like that's my favorite guy and he literally I asked the VP of operations who was sitting with he's like man he is he's like he's a leader of men he's like we've never had that here in 10 years like because he's he's been in all-star he's been cut or or fire he's been at the bottom like he's been all over
the place so he can relate to the rookies he can relate to the guys that are kind of hanging on barely he can relate to the all-star guy like he's been through it all and everybody respects him and he's like that's so valuable to have on a team because if you don't have it then you have a bunch of individuals that just worry about themselves and their contracts and how they're doing or they might not care at all because they're getting paid but it was really in depth man because you know we were I told my pitching we're talking about some different pictures he goes man the you know these young guys coming in throwing 105 like me as he throws what 105 104 and then by the you know by the third inning second third inning we saw it dropped to like 98 96 and he goes yeah he's like again to throw 105 or six innings five in it's it's it's impossible so you will have some drop and I said well he said the thing about that guy is like his body like his length can't he sustain that how long can he sustain throwing
like that because at some point his body it will start wearing down and he goes the great pictures learn how to adapt and change their pitching style so they can they can play longer for longer career because you've seen great pictures all of a sudden lose their stuff because of whatever then usually it's eight but he said and they want to adapt to their body changing and he said they they then they just they lose it and they're out you know they're out of the game and he said the great ones that let that last forever he's like there's a point in their and their career where everything starts slowing down but you know they're getting they're getting hit and they start changing their approach to everything and it prolongs their career longer because they're they're willing to put that that to change because and because and change is hard and I guess like change is so hard for anybody just as a person because if you've been doing stuff for so long you've been so successful like you're the man it's hard to go well I've been doing this for 10 years and it's made me a hundred million dollars so why would I change it I'm the man and then I was
on that well you're not next year you're gonna be worth $500,000 you know because if nobody's going to pay you because you don't have the same stuff you've had for 10 years your body is older you don't have the whip and all this other stuff and you're on a clock every day every day and I found that fascinating to me well whatever whatever reason it's just it's kind of like life you got to change you got to adapt because like even I like at our business things are changing constantly electric cars you know you see stores getting bigger they're adding more things car washes are now it's going it's like going through a circus or you know it's all these lights and blow and just you know it's everything's changing in our industry and if you don't adapt to it you're not gonna make it you're gonna die and it's so it's or you've got to maximize it why you have it sometimes you know it's not gonna be a longevity thing that's the matter just get everything I can get out of it when I can get it and that's that's you're right and that's hard hard
to do man because I've been there well I said they're going well we've done this really well for so long and you know it's changing you're like well I'm gonna push it for one more year you know and you keep you're right change is hard I just I was like you know thinking about me and you with the show and everything we talk about and you know we've had a change things we've done for our you know what I mean to be better people and I think that's because if you don't change and adapt then or change and you know what I mean like change is a big deal the older you get hard to change and adapt or be willing to change adapt so yeah I enjoy baseball and I can talk baseball with you oh is that we can now yeah yeah yeah I got it now yeah okay I did three days if I got it now man I got it what you're gonna talk about yeah but you're right dude they play every freaking day like it's I mean it was a hundred and what sixty what that is hundred and sixty two games
that's a lot man that's a lot that's a lot that's a lot of baseball it's a lot of baseball but you're right your body it's so yeah yeah huge huge um but yeah man um good time joy to bud you're listening to this podcast so I know you've got a curious mind here's a helpful fact that you may not know yet drivers who switch and save with progressive save over nine hundred dollars on average they make it super simple pop over to progressive.com answer some questions and you'll get a quick quote with coverage options tailored to your choices plus you'll see which discounts you may qualify for like the online quote discount or savings for paying in full in fact 99% of progressive auto customers earn at least one discount see if you could save when you switch to progressive you'll feel good about making a savvy choice visit progressive.com and see if you can enjoy a little extra cashback progressive casualty insurance company and affiliates

I know. Well, we, the, yeah, I mean, that we went to, they live like 20 minutes out of the city. So we went and met them for breakfast, you know, Connor and Dindy, um, Wednesday morning, had brunch with them because he had to be at the stadium at 12 because the game was at like 630 or something. So they get their early and workout and hit and stretch and watch, you know, whatever. Um, so yeah. Yeah. No crazy places, but I mean, the food was great. A lot of ice cream. You know, they had that you would, I thought they had the, uh, at the stadium, the little, um, batter's helmet that you put ice cream in, you know, back in the day, we see that they had that at the stadium, which I thought was pretty cool. Like all school. Pretty neat. So I'm told you that story, how at Alabama, that time, I ended up with the batting helmet full of popcorn because that's all they had in the possession stand. So I had to take it back into the, I had to take it back into the press box and it's in a full size Alabama batting helmet.
That's awesome. That's what I got. Do you got to do, man? Have you, uh, have you ever had a Pittsburgh style steak? Or would you like your steak that way? So what is that? I don't know what that, what's that? That means it's heated to its temperature insanely quickly. So it's like charred on the outside, but it's still very rare on the inside. That now I have not, I probably might like it. I like my stuff like rare. Yeah. But I don't know how that's pretty, that sounds really rare. It's, uh, it's a little bit Midwest thing little in the East Coast. I've never even tried it. And I do. I like rare steak like you do. So I don't, yeah, I wouldn't be against it. But nobody's really sure, uh, nobody's really sure where it came from. There's a couple different stories that they think probably is why, but nobody's 100% sure like where it started when it started. Well, I did. We were talking to our guy. Reed made good friends with the vice president of operations for Pittsburgh's a younger guy. And he was just kind of going through local stuff. And he said that
everything here, you get fries with everything. He said back in the day with the steel on, you know, the guys working in the mill, call whatever all that stuff. The hills, he said that they literally would get 15 minutes for like a lunch break, which is not very much, not very long. So they would get sandwiches. And the guys started putting their french fries in the sandwich. So they could just eat it all at one time and it wouldn't waste so much time. You know, eating the fry, eating the hamburger, whatever way. So now everything you get there and it's true. Like the dinner spots went to, you got fries no matter what. So I think it's like one of those staples they have, because we saw one of the oldest restaurants in Pittsburgh. We didn't go in there, but he took us by it. He said it's one of the oldest places there. And that's what they're known for. As sandwiches with the french fries, you know, been around forever. Yeah, yeah, yeah. But anyway, yeah, man, it's a cool spot, man. It is not,
like again, it was not what I thought it would be. The people were great. You know, just the walking fans were great. Just like you said, just a minute ago, baseball fans are a little different. They're more laid back. They're not like football fans. LSU is a great example because I have never been more ready for a fan base to move along than I am for the LSU fans to move along after Saturday night. And yet they have LSU has awesome baseball fans. It's an older fan. It's a knowledgeable fan. Yeah, they have the, my opinion, nobody yell at me. They have the best home fans in the SEC for baseball. Like it's cool to be at their park. And it is not their football fan. It's not their football fan. Well, it's like the governor. I don't know what he's talking about. I remember when we played down there in 97. Yeah, we beat him. They were ranked top 10 or whatever.
It's when John Avery went off. And I remember we pulled, we're pulling up on the buses. And I probably, I think I've told the store before with you. And there was like a five year old little girl with her dad and she's flipping his off. And I can't, I know it's not crazy. I don't mean, you know, but I mean, you know, he's talking about, you know, and then we had to put our helmets on. I mean, when Coach Tumbrill was like, look, when you, when you run out of the stadium onto the field, have your helmet on because apparently I thought in whiskey bottles at everybody. And I'm going, what the heck, man? You know, so, but that's what they did. Like they've been jackasses forever. And I'm like, you know, and then the song they played about the tiger, you know, what? I mean, how nasty a Renette can you get? It's just like, they act like they're anyway, getting me all mad. Anyway, I'm going to ask this. Before you got on that, I was going to tell you a story because you like stories on how things came about. So the Pittsburgh style steak. Yeah.
So one of the ones that they think is where, why, how it got its name is that it started in the various steel meals in and around Pittsburgh. The mill workers needed high calorie food for the heavy workload and only had about 30 minutes for lunch. So they would, the blast furnaces would get heated up to over 2000 degrees Fahrenheit. They would throw a steak on the side of the blast furnace, which was sterile due to the high heat. Leave it for a few moments, turn it. And then the steak would be seared, but still pretty raw to rare inside. Awesome. That's awesome. Yeah. There you go. That's neat, man. You would, it's a cool city. The buildings were the cause like the structure and the churches. It's just, it's a really, really cool city. Claim city. Yeah. A lot of cool history there. A lot of cool history. So I'll go back for sure. You got that for sure. I'm going to go on the field.
I know, I know, I know. We got to test you on that a little bit. Like, do you, did you just like what you were doing or do you like the game? We're going to test you a little bit next time on the differences. I really enjoyed just watching, just sitting there with my buddies, just watching the game. You know, there's, it's really relaxing, because you know, you're pulling for a team, but it's just like, you know, if they don't win, whatever, but you're trying to, I mean, then we started putting together all the, you know, Mississippi stuff, old mist of, you know, Jake, Jake was state. It's just, it was just neat, man. I don't know. I mean, it's just, it was, it was relaxing. So I get why people like going to a baseball game and kind of get away from everything. You know, it can be, you know, your mind can get turned off for a couple hours and just watch, watch the game of baseball, you know, pay attention. Don't pay attention, be out in the mice weather. No matter. But I'll say this man, when those dudes hit a home run,
holy hell. Like, it's amazing how hard they hit the ball and how fat like their, um, Bilo is or whatever, bat speed. Yeah, exit Bilo. Shit. Lord. But, um, like, O'Neill Cruz, I like O'Neill Cruz, you know, he's six six, 240. And when he hit, he hit a home run, it was a line drive chase and just went straight right over like right over the fence. I'm like, like, two six, there's some of the dudes like, three, three, just sounds different off the bat. It's sounds, it just, it does, it sounds different. It does. It does. I mean, it literally, it was just a line drive and it went over and like, it's three, I don't know, maybe three, fifty, three, sixty and right to hill. But it just was shrewd. And I'm like, how, how did that go over? It was a line drive. But it just, so anyway, yeah, just, and they're all, they're not all, but a lot of those guys, you know, they're between six, two, six, four, two, twenty, two, thirty. And then you got
guys that are five, six, five, seven, and then you can smash it. I mean, the size thing, you know, it really doesn't matter. If you can play, you can play. I mean, there are a lot of, like, there was probably four guys that were like, five, seven, you know, uh, little dudes that could smoke it. And uh, anyway, it was really fun, man. It was fun. We was playing five, five, five, sevens, a little dude. Well, you know what I mean? Like, you know, I got it. Six, six, four, six, three, like, that's a big man. You know, I mean, what do you five, what 10? I'm five, seven. I was trying to, I'm trying to pipe you up, man. And now, you know, in my, in the game program, when I played football as a freshman, they had me listed it, they had me listed at five, 11. Dang right. We're all jack. And at that time, I was probably like five, four. I mean, Hill, I was 15. So like, God knows what, like, who knows what I was. Yeah. My driver's license for years until I had to get one when I lost it or something. It still had my very first heightened
weight on it. So I mean, I was like 30 years old and my driver's license is still said like, five, five, one, 40 or something like whatever it was. Yeah. Yeah. I don't know. It's all 55, one 55, one 55. I don't know. Something like that. Yeah. That's pretty good, man. Yeah. Yeah. I was like, well, well, I was thinking about you though, just during the week though, you know, like Chase would enjoy it. And, um, yeah. You know, but again, and you know, you asked this early on, like, what'd you kind of take from it? And I think, man, really, it's just like, I need to do more of that. Like, I need to do more of, you know, let's say, you're like, Hey, man, let's go watch the series and whatever. Kansas City. What I don't like, just just take a couple of days, go off the, yeah, go with a friend, go with somebody's just, it's good to get guy time. It's good to get away. Um, like I think that's really important. I don't do a good job at all with it. Um, but I think this week made me, you know, it's good for the soul.
It's good to have those bonds and, you know, and do those type of things because like, again, I couldn't, I had a blast, man, like, there's nothing that, like Reed really did a great host and, you know, it was awesome. It was awesome. Are you home until the holidays? Are you got more travel coming up? Um, I don't know that question. I don't know the answer that, um, I don't know what Hillary has planned. I really don't. I think we're here. Yeah, I think we're here, man. Um, for a little while. Yeah, I really don't know. I don't know. I think I got, I got a couple place up to go for business, but I don't far, fun things. I don't think we're going anywhere. Yeah, I mean, you know, like, you know, it's different. Yeah, I don't know, you know, because we always go to Disney once a year or try to do like a weekend in Disney. We talked about doing that. I kind of want to go to Halloween, hard nights. Yeah. You know, Libby, I know Libby's going with some friends. Um, I don't know. What about y'all? I mean, well, you can't go anywhere until seasons. Oh,
with. I mean, we, I mean, I mean, I mean, Carlyans got a got one horse show, but it's local or it's fairly local. Um, and then, uh, y'all are sitting horses up there too. It's the Memphis thing. Okay. Okay. Yeah. Yeah. Um, got that. And then, well, I mean, we always take a trip on fall break. And it works out because it's Ole Miss is by week going into a road game. Okay. Okay. So will you go to that Memphis show? I will go, I think she's doing something three days. Okay. So I mean, yeah, I'll at least do two of the three and that we will depend on game times and whatnot for the other one. I don't, I don't know. Got you. Got you. Yeah. Yeah. But no, but we always try to get away and go to the beach for a few days during the fall break period. Yeah. It is, and it's manageable. I mean, we, you know, it's, it's, it's our listeners have seen. I've been able to podcast from down there and just kind of still get my work done. So it'll, uh, it'll be all right. Chase, you're never off, buddy. You're all but you're not off. I feel weird. I feel weird complaining
because I don't want to complain. Like I'm not complaining. Um, no, this, there is a difference in complaining and acknowledging that sometimes that is a difficult thing. It's not, it's not comparing to somebody else. It's not saying I have a worse or a better job than anybody else. It's just saying that, you know, sometimes the, the phone rings or whatever and you're kind of like, I crap. I don't really want to do. I mean, I mean, last night, I mean, Dylan, I had to deal with something. I was already in bed. My phone, I'd already moved it over to sleep mode for the night where I couldn't get disturbed and, uh, because I'll wake up to 75 text messages some nights, depending on what's going on. If like some of the group chats get going, then I'm in and talking to each other. So, uh, and it was 937 and Neil had tried to call me. My phone, it goes to the sleep mode at 930 every night. That's when I haven't said. And I just happened to pick it up to like, for something. I was changing my alarm or looking at something, but just something real quick
and he had sent me a text and he was like, Hey, call me if you can. I'm like, okay, that's not normal. So I got to deal with whatever this is. So I, uh, I had to call him and so that was, that was like, it was like 940 last night. So, uh, it was all right. I, you know, I got a text from my other day. You probably know who and, uh, and they were talking about another writer or another, um, sent say that I don't think they're a writer. There's some stuff going on. Well, you know what, this is not the show for that. Never mind. I, I, I, I just got lost like, think we were just talking on the phone. Like I think I know where you're going, but I'll ask you to mind when we talk about. Yeah. Yeah. I think I know what you were doing. Yeah. Um, we'll, we'll get into that. But anyway, I'm right. Look, I'm ready to get up, boxer, man. I'm ready to get up there. I'm ready to, hopefully I get to see you. I'm sure you won't, you don't probably won't take me out tonight. That's okay. But, um, take me to dinner. You're not getting in until midnight tonight. That's why you can be able to take me to dinner, man. You could have come yesterday. I could have, I could,
