They're such a bad news lately. Well, they're especially full of bad news today, yes. What happened? Did you burn any news again? F.E.R. Thank you, Noxa mentioned my bowling team in public. It's just a matter of getting a little exercise, and it didn't lose at one, even without me. It only seems to win when you got paid on a farm. F.E. Don't forget your position. Thank you. Anyway, how do we get on this bowling kick? We're supposed to be talking about something else. How about our girls? Oh, yes. Well, this one has more than local complications. In free, F.E.R. in correspondence. There you work on a grand scale. It's international and spoken. You kill with me. You thrill with me. Half-road and half-redigade. It's same-spade in the red star, Caper. For NBC, Williams Fair, radio's outstanding producer director of history in crime drama, brings you the greatest pilot effective of a mall in the adventures of Sam's Fade.
F.E.R. I'm here. It's about P.E.R. Well, I'm here. It's about P.E.R. F.E.R. You saw more like a shrew every day. Thank you, Sam. I'm just being passive in the mall. I probably make money if you don't show up. But I had to turn around to show you a plan today. Well, that's right. I'm thinking of quitting crime by detecting anyway. What? What was he doing? Well, I know reporters, Jonathan. So from now on, how would that sound? Screams spade. My beat is the universe. Oh, that sounds terrible, Sam. You make a story report. You can't even type. Sometimes, F.E.R. you hit the nail right on the point. Where it hurts. I'll ask you down the business. What about you, Nathan? You say... They are watches. They're January 12, 1951. Two Lieutenant ICKC homicide to tell all the sent from sister police. Funds Samuel Fade, license number 177596. Object. The red star, paper. You're a Chelsea. It had been some time since I had attended a lecture. And thank the last one I can remember is the Margaret Sanger passed through town.
The last night at Out of Clop, I filed into the central municipal auditorium, along with several hundred other people, including college students, newspaper men, professors of political science, the usual choreoist compliment, and a goodly sprinkling of snuffling indigents who welcomed any evening to residing the cold winds that flew through the mission district of this time of the year. Hey, it's number 177596. The pleasure to see so many politically minded faces, gallows, and is our cause. Nice. So let the world know that so many of us are trying to keep abreast to the fast-moving and sometimes confusing events of our couple days. So it was a graphic example for those who would try to take our liberties away from us that we are everywhere. And that we will continue to defend those liberties. Only by taking every opportunity to display our willingness to understand and act on the problems of the face of,
can we serve notice to the world that we are ever ready to pick up and gauntlet of international challenge whenever or wherever it may be thrown down. The public's recognizers are we helping our enemies. And our speaker is carefully needs introduction. But just in case there are a few hermits in our audience who have never owned a radio session, a new case for the past 10 years. Well, just in case there are, let me introduce the man who really needs no introduction. The most distinguished foreign correspondent, Cyrus Vanne. Thanks, sir. Thank you Mr. Chairman. And we're leaving this end of the video. Are we helping our enemies? That was the question. My answer in a word is, yes. And that answer is not his, he's not an advise. I have just returned from the power of poverty beyond.
I have been to the tragic blood of the Victoria. I've fought with the military into the armed capital for more than. I've fought the nervous defense, the fight in the Philippines and the defend. And I have even made two six-foot fits in Garnetville, right into the last year of the communist stronghold on the China mainland. And this is my fault. This material is from this very city. Gippen's hot being made regularly. To reach China. I was sitting here for a look at the hole when the lights went out. I took the side aisle and raised to the stage. Someone was running for a back exit, and I followed. I was late. I rode out of the back alley and was gone. I'm the stage, someone that rang down the church. Cyrus Vanne was down the floor and the chairman was bending over. He's dead. They almost shot me too. Let me see. There's nothing anybody can go for right now.
Lights went out and then the shots. This is the most terrible thing that ever happened to me. To you. Did I ask Kim to get up and call the police? Do you think it was one last dying effort you might do? I'll call him. I'll call him. I guess he did get the worst of us. I guess he did. And that's how the news reached you, Kelsey. I suppose you want to know how I happened to be at a lecture, where the lecture happened to be shot. Well, I'll tell you. And don't think it makes me happy. You see, I was supposed to be his bodyguide. Now let's start at the beginning. Shall we? It's only afternoon. I stupid hero. I was sitting around trying to break the code on a spreadsheet. I'm on it. Simon, are you in? I only made a client. So who is it? It's David. I'm the president. I'm the president. I was making conclusions. Mr. X, but I'll take it. Hey, Dick. You have a hero of Cyrus Manning, Sam. A fine-taste, Simon? Yeah, that's the one. He's in town. I got here yesterday. Well, what is it? A benefit? You want me to do card tricks or something? He's a bodyguard.
I don't know anybody else. It'll be crazy not to take a job. So I call you. Oh, gee, thanks. We the letters to the editor column tomorrow for my reply. I didn't know whether you'll take the job, but I sent him over to see you anyway. What does he want to do bodyguide it against? Well, I'll let him tell you about it, but I'll give you a clue. They're home-based runs west from the center of Berlin, east to slightly below the 38th parallel. Oh, very stable, huh? I don't know. Only two or three hundred million, I remember I shouldn't have an eight shuttle. And you'll take the job, Sam? Who's playing? We are. 50 a day. 60. I don't do anything across the living index. Yeah, I'm ready to deal. Good. That's one thing, Sam. If you have a good picture of yourself, take a recent break, kid. We'd appreciate a coffee. Why? Probably. Well, that is possible, a bit you're worried. Hey, this. What are you saying? If I don't tell you again, Sam. Good luck. I quit. I want to take the job. Davis! Fee! I'm waiting time for a few days. That's, look, for some things in my suitcase in the closet. Oh, I've got something for you. There's something in the suitcase. I don't suppose his name is Cyrus Nann. Did you ever say it, Sam?
Oh, it was easy. I just thought of a name of a man I would least like to say. Some of them. Sam, say that I'm just cannabis-sand. I have the same trouble. I'll send him in if I got about the suitcase. I am not going to succumb to hysteria. Am I saying the right word? Of course I am. On East troubled times, we're going to keep our heads cool and I powdered out. I send them in. All right. You're welcome. I'm not going to ask. Oh, thank you. Thank you. How do you describe it? Sit down. Sit down. Oh, thank you, old man. You were. Could you lift up your hot brim so I could see your face and maybe even take off your tongue? Where are I never taken off straight? Huh? There's the mark of my profession. Oh. A lot of the performance goes from this, you know. I might do with softer barely no side theory and a method of nervous. Sometimes they just see the least. Oh, no, no. I wore this trench coat when I interviewed Hitler. When I stood knee deep in water on the shores of the Philippines. Next to the doctor. While the common doctor of the prison camp didn't dare to get off of me
when I was captured by the Chinese guerrillas. And when Mr. Lee knew, he cared for a drink. Yeah. Yeah. Thank you, sir. I see you for him, do you? Well, thanks to Connor. No, no, no, no. Just in case I never think about first offering special coat. Conferring. Oh, I made a great white wings and a thunderburn specializing over your grave. Hmm. A little translation of an old debuffin to swell. Go out. Well, it's a problem when you lose something in the trans-racial. Oh, it's good to get back to the States when I have real looking. I'm getting tired of sucking in Korean moonshine. I didn't know we had time to make it. Well, let's get on the business. This is my problem. I had been no respect for the censorship or official red tape. That's why I scored some of my biggest needs, basically. I'll take it to work on one now. Oh, the biggest. You know that material would be shifted out of things and just go to the Chinese Communist forces. Hmm. That's what they are even now using the garrisons on the back of the scenes. For no, I've done for time.
Could believe it. Well, for weeks now, I have been tracking down the truth, documenting the facts, parroting out the trouble of supplies of falsehood. Oh, good. That's a night. So I'm getting a lecture. A central municipal auditorium. Chris, representatives from every news paper and syndicate will be there. Of course. I will. I'll get the general out by my revelations and it will hit every news paper in the country. Then when the public's appetite is wetting, I'll publish the specific details and the tribute in the following day and we'll score a piece. I'll see. And if you'll see, if somebody's done in for it. I know they are. Anybody specific? I'm. I'm not living here. It's a name. It's just not. But after I get my first lecture tonight, it might be. Take it for me. Well, the tribune's hired me. I'll do my best. I've been in tight spots before I stayed, but my duty is clear before me and I'm not stupid. I won't need you before the lecture. But immediately after your service is going to be officially. Oh, why don't I stick with a certain red now? Stop. I'll just a lecture will be seen in a minute. You know what I'm doing?
Hey, think I'm afraid to talk. But I guess I'm ready to give them a surprise, huh? Yes, yes. One that they can read in their morning newspapers. That's fair. Yes, yes. Ha, ha, ha. Yes. Well, he was half-right, Kelsey. Might not have been a surprise, but they were able to read it in the morning newspapers. At least then we got a laugh out of it. This is more than I did. You arrived at the emergency and three minutes off you were called. He was shot, then. I would say so, Kelsey. I would say so. Well, it's easy. We'll search everybody in the audience before we let them go. Kelsey, I was in the audience. Notting the shot from backstages. And over did it run up a back door. Oh, that's right, Stan. You already told me that, and that makes it a little harder. I look Kelsey, the woman is sitting right over there. See, the killer knocked him down, coming into the state. Now, why don't you question him? You're not kidding, Stan. Kelsey, so help me. It's great. All right, let's question him. You with a door, man? Yeah, yeah.
He's hitting right in the drawer. Just like that. Oh, no, you! No! I'm sorry, you're sorry. I'm sorry. I'm sorry. I'm sorry. You're in the police officer. I'll have you arrested. I'm sorry, officer. I'm sorry, but I'm sorry. You're not going to laugh. I was just showing you how he hit me. Oh, oh, all right. But when you come to the shooting part, you be careful. Well, a door open and a big man box, too, see? As a boy threw up my mouth, he hit me. I felt a lot of my back. Did you have a good look at him? No, all I saw was a shot two on a back of his hand. It was a red star. You mean he stood there and shot the manning and you didn't see him? As soon as he knocked me down, he put out the light. And then he run out. I started getting up and sort of caught her away. What kind of a car? It was a light group convertible. You remember anything else? Absolutely not now. Are you sure? Absolutely sure. Uh, oh. I don't suppose it's worth much, but the lightest number was four and seven, five, three, two, three. No, I don't think.
Oh, yeah. After you recovered from your apathy, you said, Jose, and checked the lightest number. We were more confused than ever, along the fire's manning itself. While you were calling that quarter, my search's manning in the north from what you were speaking was gone. I reason that he might have had a carbon top that you're a handwritten note in a hotel room or wherever it is. The pyrdian's the bride is the best, the congress on film or above, then that room, six, one, two. Coming out of the elevator, I bumped into a call, handsome brunette, farie me in. Oh, oh, oh, cute me. With my call. Oh, oh, oh. Uh, if you go to the right, I'll go to the left. I'm ready. Ship. Going down on a haytie. She was nice, but I had other things to worry about. No one answered many's or when I nod just to see what's might happen. So I fed myself here. Before I even had time to look for any notes, I knew it wasn't any use, because lying on the floor with a skull factory was just daydance. Late at the tribune.

And Sunday over most of these NBC stations also means a one hour adaptation of a famous play or story by Theatre Guild on the air. This Sunday's Theatre Guild production is still be starting rec Harrison and Teresa Rice. And now back to the red star, Capers. The night's adventure with Sam Spade.
Fire's burning room had been worth over a thoroughly. I want no notes lying around, which described the activities of anyone sending war material to the Chinese prominent. The only putsman piece of evidence was the corpse of Rift Davis. I didn't call your office right away, because I wanted to get out of there and begin asking some questions before the tale was told. Things really not for a man's hotel room or many items that belong to a woman. Clothes, makeup, and so on. And they were called among the girl I bumped into getting out of the elevator. And this, we're called to me, the elevator operating. I seen it coming up a lot a few times. I don't know who she is. You know mening on your son? Yeah, I know him, the celebrities. But I can't remember like everybody. Was the girl ever with him if you remember? Well, not that I remember. You recall a short, dark, thin man coming up. Me and a baby. They don't pay me to remember the people. I just get paid to take them up and down. I'm not very much, either. No, that's a half year remember, isn't it? What 10 bucks will do for your memory? A thin, dark man went up about 830. Didn't see him come down though.
He was alone. A thin man. Did anyone else in the elevator for nights sticking your mind? Oh, he got into remember is one who didn't look like he belonged here. Big. Had a pockmouth face. Oh, and on the back of one hand he had a red star tattooed. Mening was going to reveal something about material being shipped to China. Ships. With the word I'd overlooked. And coming tattooed, it looked as if he didn't belong in a good hotel and had the smell of a waterfront on him. So I flashed myself with the loan and went looking for a man who knows most about the strange smells of a waterfront. In fact, he's one of them. He's an indiscretable, a low man of fungus on the face front of honesty. A spider in the lunchpale of lawfulness. Fourthed grout. A stool pigeon. So long as I've gone down a ladder to carry two races. I found him at the blue ladder in bars. Took a capsule that settled my stomach ordered a bottle of two glasses and somehow forced myself to lay down. So long as they made the other man
to compile good time Charlie's change. But it's important, same. And... Poor thing. Poor thing. The other side of the table, please. I might need room in case of five. I like it on this side. I might need to get my eye on the room. All right, Elmo. All right, Sam, I'm here to file a letter. I can hand it to you. I'm a poor cloud. I would tell me something, poor thing. You don't know anybody who's shipping stuff that China from here or someone with a red side tattooed on his hand. Oh, yeah. I mean, just search your heart. Don't think I could squeeze over there. All right, good. You are a person. Please. I'll stick on a dry sand. Okay. My other friend, I'd like to sing. You'll be beautiful. Other of them. Very roughly. Who was I still alive? Usually me, but if you can't take advantage of anything else, try to remember where these drinks came from, and talk according to me. I want to hear you talk about Sam.
If they would get me Christmas, they'd mess with you. Have you ever heard of anyone shipping war goods that China or Portugal are man with a red star on his hand? I'm not driving, I don't know. You should have. I'm going to see if I can do your record. Oh. Oh, you're a person. I'm a seed. I heard about somebody shipping goods to the Indian Chinese. But I... Sam, I don't get going. I'll put it. Grab, come back here. Sorry, Sam. I just remembered I left something home on the phone. You don't have a home. I turn around and watch and settle out the door. And I talk for the first time what much of color does taste of taste. Maybe there's any I've seen these days, I'm glad to hear it. So, he was going through the building window. The taste moved for the door, and I heard, most upon a big butter under a sheet cup. The guns were stabbed into a tea jacket and his leg was hit a floor like slowed Jackhammer as it walked forward.
You're trying to pump information out a grass spell. Why else would anyone in his right mind get ported out for even? Or saying that close one? Why? What are you trying to find out? Frankly, it's not your business. Let's tell, I grew up on the waterfront to a hardware. I've knocked guys like you all over every port in the world and I don't make me mad. Why don't you make it easy? Tell me who you are and what you are. And I've ever answered questions, I just do the answers. Are you going to tell me something or am I going to beat it out of you? I guess you still have to be the hardware. Okay, pal. But just remember this. After I get through with you, I don't want never to see you down around here again. Because you bought me. Now we come to the embarrassing part of my report. The answer to the oddity is not easily, but this kind of good news. Now I know other gutter copies I bet around for a few years too. But all I was not lost was a crushing right hand coming from the side that did the damage. And hit me right under my good eye.
And on the back of that hand was tattooed a big red saw. When I got up from the floor, he was down. So was everyone else in the place with a bartender. You feel better now, mister? I told you not to have that last drink. What drink? Who was the guy who did it? There's one. Not me down. What do you think? Oh, brother, you really got one on. I didn't see anybody not be down. You didn't see a big red headed down. A piece jacket took a swing up thing. Well, it's either drink on the house. Maybe you'll feel better. I don't know. Don't give me that lost weekend routine. Who was it? Next up, let's figure what I mean. I don't know what you're talking about. What happened to all those other people who were drinking here? I was, mister, you can believe it or not. The only two people I served in here tonight have been you and Porky Grouse. And if for a guy knocking you down, well, you must have hallucinations. What happened? Wrecked money, nothing worked. And I knew nothing worked either because it's time to put on it. So before anything more serious happened, I got out of there.
By the way, I mean both for bar and the neighborhood. It's not that I was scared, but I'd long ago learned about you at an orderly retreat. Or if I used to say a money but when I was a kid, your hips and runs away, it's the hips and another of those. I decided to go and bring some another anger. Like, who were the woman's things that I saw in the fire's manning room? They belonged to Mr. Manning's wife. Greg, are you sure Manning had a wife? Well, they registered his manning wife, Mr. Stagg. What did you look like? So, good looking Brunette. Hmm. You know, now that we're talking about it, there was something strange in a relationship. What? She never stayed here at night. She only came in in the morning and left in the afternoon. You know her first name or anything else around? No, Mr. Stagg, not another thing. Well, it was a start of me. She was obviously the girl I'd met on the elevator. I looked up a number of Manning's friends but the first three or four couldn't help me. But the fifth said that Manning admired about six months ago and he never seemed the wife. Her name, as he remembered, was St. Cerny and her father was a ship captain.
I ran down the name Cerny over the maritime where she was headed to the own three ships, two of which were in port. On the first ship to Downwind, they told me Cerny lived on the other one. It was a Western front, a fear 92. I went up the gang's line and I got a forward housing, where the captain's got a normal, it was located. So, Yes? Hey, Cerny. Yes, where are you? Remember me from a tongue to a tongue? I'm elevating six, forward. I'm not sure. Ah, perhaps I should have called you Mrs. by the name. Why didn't you come in? Who's Downwind? I was hired as a bodyguards here, husband. I got there two legs. Yes. Everybody's dead. Hopefully me. I'll please don't cry, yes, yes. Why do you say mostly me? I'm not a dumb son to know about it. Why were you running out of a hotel? I thought I'd miss you, David. Who is? Are you running out of your hotel?
Yes. Who? And who takes me to your son? I was there. Me, I suppose. Yeah, I'm nearly responsible. I got a little thing. I'm going to get you. Keep order, Ms. Ruyatt over my shoulder, and then keep holding it a whole cellar. She had met the married, Cyrus Manning secretly against her father's will. When he found out he took her aboard one of his ships and kept her prisoner, while she was aboard the ship, she found out what her father was doing, carrying essential war material to communist China. So somehow, motherly information, the mother, she did, and the arrangement was that they were going to trade the information for her father's blessing on her nose. Once Manning got the information, he wanted to shoot more than he did his wife. That's when the trouble started. It's him, it's him, it's him. He got out of the way. It's him, it's him. Yeah, it's him, the back one. What are you doing here? I've seen the failure of everything.
You've been trying to learn your lesson the first time. That's kind of for teaching. That's the way I feel. No. No. Oh, no. Good. I couldn't let it kill again. I just couldn't. I just couldn't let it kill. No. No. No. Third and the report. Yes. It was done. It was a matter of second question. I was fine. All that poor girl wanted to know and look what happened to him. It's not. Yeah. You would be on the good news, then. But he said, he said, he said, I'll take the other into his room. He said, talk to him. I'm sorry, Defi. I'll say that much. Now, we'll talk about that. Wow. Yeah. Oh, yeah.
Oh, yeah. Oh, yeah. Three times mean good times on NBC. There's music and fun tomorrow on NBC to help your Saturday evening along. Your hit parade brings you the top tunes and the land with Raymond Stops, Nuttie Lanson and Eileen Wilson. The Venice Day show sparkles with songs and mad chaps of benches, starring charming boy Dennis Bay. And Grand Ole Opry presents Red Foley and his friends in 30 minutes of music and laughter, Westing style. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. It is them. It's believed me I didn't enjoy a pie, didn't it? Oh. I didn't expect it to work out. As a matter of fact, it's the pie I needed to enjoy. I never liked a silly pie. Oh. It's been those other funny people for clients when I like them a thing's they say, I can't trust it. Well, I could make sure happy. I don't know how to get more comedians. They're clients. In the little time, you'll have to suffer along on whatever dreads of humanity the wings will taste flow into my office. Yeah.
Hmm. That was absolutely corales. It was a really just thing. Oh, nothing, nothing. I expect you'll appear in an exhibition of Bopper's Familiar Cultivation. Now, would you like to hear one of my long irritants, Mr. Paredic Fasin? Oh, yes, I'm not nothing. Oh, good. This is called Cigar. A Cigar is inspired from a life to the rest in the raw material it implies. But the smoke is no joke if you haven't learned yet for it we've got some men from the broads. Oh, oh, that's wrong, you know. That's all you have. You ought to be able to sell out to someone. If we are, it can't even sell me. Yeah. Give me a little chance. All right. There will be a young girl with a heart as big as the wheels on a car. At the end of the day, she always would say. Good night, sir. No, no. Good night, sweetheart. Oh, no. You're welcome.
