Oh, Here we go is part two of our power for preview the other day me and Liam did our big our ACC and our big 10 preview. It got contentious me and him fought off off the air behind the scenes. We growled with sniffed each other's butts. It got weird. But we're back. We're back for big 12 and ACC. Maybe one day we'll do a group of five preview something like that. Maybe we'll do an F. I'll let him have his FCS 12 seconds. That sound about right for Liam's FCS segment 12 seconds. I don't know. We'll figure it out. But hello, Liam. Hey, Brandon. Good to see you again. How was camp? Oh my God. I just rushed back. Uh, I drove back in about an hour and a half. Uh, here we are on a, on a Thursday night.

Can you feel it? Can you feel football happening in two days? It's going to be amazing. Actually, while we're here, we should talk about TCU UNC. We should talk about Memphis, UNLV, which I, I feel could be the game of the weekend. Easily Virginia. NG state is nothing to sneeze at. Like I think that's a good game. The worst one is TCU UNC. Yeah. If we got to act like it's great because it's in international, I will care. Yeah. Is this, where, where is this one? Is this in Ireland? Yeah. I, that Ireland stadium just, just tickles me because it would be right in the middle of the neighborhood and the drone will go over and it's just the gigantic stadium with, with fences right up next to it. Um, I'm just looking forward to half time of that game. Is there a world that was, what's a half time? Uh, you didn't hear? I'm sure I heard, but what is it? Jordan performing with their cheerleading squad. That can't, you're, you're making that up. Okay. Speaking it into existence. Is there a world where, where they're the laughing stock of college football right now? But at some point during this year, we're like, well, Bella, check out, turn it around a little bit.

Or is it just, it's over? It's dead on the vine. I think it's over and down the vine. And I'd like to keep it that way and I'd love to see who their next side coaches. They could have had John Somerol a couple of years ago. Could have had a lot of things. Could have had a lot of things. Could have had a lot of things. Um, Memphis, you know, V quickly on that one. I mean, you Memphis, new coach, but a lot of talent there. And then you know, V Dan Mullins second, second go around. He was sneaky close to a playoff spot last year. Maybe he gets that playoff spot this year. Yeah, too fascinating group of five playoff containers. It's a playoff level game from the outside. Looking at it and like it's group five. But these are two of the best teams in group five. Transistorical lore for Memphis, whole new roster, winning head coach. All he does is win Dan Mullins, Jaden Thomas. They've got two quarterbacks Jackson Arnold, Alex Orgie. Yeah, fun. I think people have forgotten about Alex Orgie, uh, but he's with the perfect coach. And then Jackson Arnold. Man, if I can hand pick a coach to go to reclaim my career as a former five star

after the absolute abomination that was Hugh Freeze and Auburn, it'd be going straight to Dan Mullin. I think he knows how to coach quarterbacks, you know, uh, and it's fascinating team, a fascinating game. UNLV Memphis is not a weak zero caliber game. That is a terrific, terrific football game. Um, all right. So we got the big 10, not the big 12 and SEC preview today. We'll do a couple of voicemails and then we will have our interview with David Pollock at the end of the show. David Pollock, good looking guy knows what he's talking about. Won't cuss like me. Um, but yeah, David Pollock is here. He, we talked for about 30 minutes about football and we're, we're this close, man, we're this close. We're two days away from real deal football. And then we're a weekend two days from just an own slot. And here we go. We will not have our Saturday night, uh, recap thing or not a recap, but our Saturday night came out. Special that we do every Saturday night, every Saturday at 10 o'clock. We're going to go live or after the, the prime time game we're going to go live.

We're not doing it this week, but we will do it for 15 straight weeks, starting next Saturday. So that's a little programming note as, um, my wife has made me take one more little vacation to door county this Saturday. I'm excited about that. Um, all right, big 12 and ACC. Last time we dove into the big conference to start with this time. Let's start with the big 12. We started with the big 10 last time. Let's start with the big 12 this time. Um, now there's going to be a lot of conversation. This one might go longer because there's a lot of conversations to be had about a lot of teams in these, in these two conferences, starting with the big 12. Texas Tech is a defending champ. Texas Tech, nobody was really close to Texas Tech last year. BYU played him twice, didn't really get close at all. But a weird offseason for Texas Tech quarterback situation still in flux. They want to add like they like Will Hammond, but now we're like any day now. We're going to find out Castelanos is going there. It's, it's a, it's a weird situation over there in Lubbock right now.

Liam for a team that's going to be miles ahead of everybody else roster wise in this league. Yeah, the, the desire to add Thomas Castelanos just made me feel icky. I, I don't really get why not not as a player, but as a persona and a character, a guy that always kind of feels like he is bigger than the team bigger than the program. Why do you want to add that when you're right on the outside looking in at being a national title competitor? I don't know. Last year, nobody could, nobody could handle Texas Tech on either side of the trenches. Is that the same case this year? For a team that's gotten it so right throughout 90% of its roster, the inability to get quarterback right on the national scale is beginning to be an issue. You know, last year when they got to that game against Oregon, they just, that it just wasn't there. They just couldn't do anything, could not do anything offensively. They go out and try to get sores be it becomes a national circus. They don't get sores be and then they fall back on hammock, but it seems like they're okay. And they're like, we like this guy.

Now we're in August and you're talking about taking a guy who's flamed out of two places. It's just, it's weird. It's weird energy, but it's, it might be the fact that they know they're comfortably better than their conference and they're trying to sling anything at the wall to catch up to the other conferences, to catch up to the Oregon's of the world. And that just might be the long and skinny of it. All right. Let's start here. Big 12. My champion this year is don't overthink it. It's Texas tech. They're still the best roster. They're still the best team. The defense will be nasty. They're replacing a lot, but I saw a stat that every single big 12 team, not named Texas tech has averaged two four star and above transfer recruits over the last couple of years. Texas tech has 20. Texas tech has 20 of those guys. Every other team to league is average and getting about two of them. They're getting 20 defensively offensively. They're getting, they're going and getting guys high school recruiting. They're bringing in some of the scariest five stars you've ever seen.

This is still far and away. The best roster in the league. Quarterback be damned. They're my champion. Liam, who is your champion in the big 12? It's Texas tech as well. Like I said, a few minutes ago, the trenches on both sides wall like I really thought Utah had the upper hand on them with their two offensive tackles. They did not. You are physically overwhelmed at every single point of attack when you're playing Texas tech. So until someone show me that and show me that and prove me wrong is what I'm saying. Yeah. Yeah, it's it's a they're just miles ahead of everybody from Ross reconstruction and resources and everything. Now I'll say this about this league. I think from just a pure excitement standpoint, it's a very, very, very exciting league throughout. If you take Texas tech and put them up on the mountain top, then the next 15 teams all believe they have something in them that can make them a contender in some way.

Like nobody seems out of it. Nobody seems above anybody else. I know there's a couple of teams like Utah's good. Arizona's pretty good. Houston's coming. Like there's several teams. But even at the bottom, like West Virginia is moving in the right direction. UCF, I think it's not there at the bottom, but a UCF, all these teams, Colorado's the only team right now that I look at on paper. And I'm like, there's just no hope for them going forward. But yeah, might run her up in the in the conference. Again, not overthinking this. It's BYU. They're the second best roster. Bring back a lot. They brought back every key contributor they could. They didn't lose anybody to the portal that they really wanted. I think so I've got BYU, including their coach, who almost went to the portal to Penn State. They bring back everybody. It's a good system. It's a good program. It's a good culture. They're just not Texas tech roster wise. I got BYU once again being the runner up in the conference. Liam, who's your runner up? I did overthink this because when I'm looking at the big 12, I think there's seven teams.

So eight teams, if you count Texas tech, that are confident that they could make a run to the big 12 championship game. That's a lot of teams, a lot of possible. I wouldn't let me let me. I indulge right now. Texas tech BYU, Utah, Arizona, Arizona state TCU Houston. There's a slight. There's still more. I'm who am I blanking on? Who are you? Oklahoma State, Kansas state. There you go. Okay. So that's nine. I just got to nine. I didn't count Arizona in mind, but I think they have a chance to be pretty good. So I went with the team that has been very consistent over the course of their program had down 2025. New head coach coming and calling client. I went with Kansas State to make the big 12 championship game. Look at their schedule, extremely doable. And I like calling client to have a little, little like reclamation project with Avery Johnson, who still wasn't near as bad as we all made them out

to be last year. Well, it was they never recovered from that week's game where where you have the fight with the parents or the fight with the family and everything. They just never. Sometimes these week zero games just kill a team. They just kill everything. You spend all off season. And then in front of the whole world, you go internationally and you just do that. And there's just no putting it back together. 100%. All right. My. So here are your categories. I realized that I we've recorded these back to back. So I didn't really give you the categories. These are the categories we always use for unnecessary roughness to kind of flesh out the conferences and talk about them. We pick a champion. We pick a runner up. We pick a player of the year, a coach of the year, a disappointing team, a surprise team, a most underrated game, a breakout player, and now an upset of the year, upset of the year. We're trying to call our shots with an upset. So and I have a feeling we're going to have the same one in this conference. But we are not. We're not really. No, I may have gone too far for upset of the year.

Oh, I love it. I love it. All right. So I have a Texas Tech as my champion. He has Texas Tech. I be while you as a runner up as Kansas State, my player of the year in the big 12 conference. There's this is a, this is a crazy one, right? Because I was thinking Texas Tech, the roster is going to be so great. You're going to have a defensive star that maybe just comes out of nowhere. But do I see like Will Hammond and this running back could not have committee, but they got multiple great running backs. Who do I see in Texas Tech that's going to stand out over everybody? I don't know that I do. So I went to bearbuck Meyer of BYU because he is going to be the heart and soul of that operation. They're going to go as he goes. But like you've said a couple names here. The kid at every Johnson, they Kansas State, if they have a big year, he could do something. DJ Lagway, if he reclaims his career at Baylor, there's a lot of individuals that are Fafita at Arizona, a lot of individuals in this league that if they put the team on their shoulders, Devon Dempire at Utah, they put the team on their shoulders.

They've got chance to be the player of the year. I'm going with bearbuck Meyer, kind of a safe fish pick from BYU as the player of the year. William, your pick. I of course break it up into offense and defense. Defensively, I think Texas Tech does have the guy tray white, the ad-trash are coming over from San Diego State. That's a guy who could take a significant leap in his development. 50-year I believe now show why he's the true NFL guy top 60 pick offensively. I don't know how many games they're going to win. They're going to score a lot of points. They're going to throw for a lot of yards. True Mastermaker. Yeah, fair enough. I didn't even think about him. I should have. I mean, he's obviously somebody that's going to be big time, big time, big time in the league. Let me do an ad and then we'll move on with our coach of the year in the big 12. The coach of the year in the big 12. I've gone first three times as you're turned to go first. Who's the coach of the year in the big 12? Might run her up with the conference Kansas State's calling client. My coach of the year, Willie Fritz from Houston. I came very close to picking them to be the runner up.

I think BYU is rock solid and BYU can like finish second with and the coach not get the coach of the year. I think Willie Fritz as the third best team. What he's built over the last couple of years at Houston, Willie Fritz, coach of the year in the big 12. The most disappointing team in the league Liam Blutman. I hate to do it, but they have won so many magical chaotic one point, one possession game. Same team. It's no mind's BYU. Oh, wow. Like I can see them taking a step out. There's a lot of friction between Sataki and the AD Santiago, which I'm fully on Sataki side, of course. But we're looking at this rationally like I could see BYU take a step back being an eight nine win team and that's a massive disappointment. All right. I had him as my runner up, but let's let's let's flesh this out a little bit because I do think there's an element. And this is just my personal feeling.

Remembering the week that was when it happened, I do think Sataki wanted to get out and wanted to go to Penn State. Yeah. I think he wanted to he wanted to go and I think the machine that is BYU athletics and BYU sports and everything out of BYU kind of stepped in and made sure like it was, it's just not possible. They made that made the offer that he just couldn't, he couldn't leave. And I think he wanted to get out. And that's just my opinion. There's no basis for that is it's just and if let's just say if it were true, could a step back be in the cards for a coach that wanted to be at Penn State? I don't know, but I think the possibility exists. What do you think about that? I don't think I know that he wanted the Penn State job. And I know that he is very unhappy with the athletic director who is showing a lot more interest in favor for basketball in that side. Okay. Of the program. And I know, no, like I think Sataki wants more than anything that probably don't do

it in their culture to don't throw the mill finger around. But metaphorically speaking, once it's the mill finger, it sounds like I'm going to be like, Hey, here's 10 11 wins again. Why aren't you willing to invest so much in the football program when we are capable of doing more national scale than basketball? Like I could see that, but yeah, this point he might want to be one of you. I'm going to go there as on a state and they're not picked to win or anything, but they're probably picked in the top four or five. And there are teams. So how much how much up he will continue to go through? I mean, how many times can you just kind of quarterback leave you? How many times can a coach pull a rabbit out of his hat and roster wise? I think this is a step back from where they've been play off a couple of years ago. Last year kind of came back down to earth a little bit, but in the pressure cooker, this going to be the big 12 where you've got 10 or 12 teams are about the same. Somebody's going to be on the outside looking in. And I'm just taking a shot in the dark that it is Arizona state. Again, you're just probably a better pick because BYU is considered a playoff contender.

And I'm not sure Arizona state is, but I think Arizona state could be a team or a lot of people think you're going to win eight or nine. I see them winning five or six. So I've got Arizona state in that spot. Surprise team in the big 12 Liam Blutman team full of transfers and an air of college football where all takes is a new roster. It doesn't take time. It doesn't take years to flip the script. Oklahoma state. They have talent everywhere at the skill positions through their games. Course, so many points. Caleb Hawkins gets a lot of love. The running back. They've got another one though. Trey Page is a joystick. Watch out for them. Lob points. My only issue with that is if everybody's picking it can be a surprise because I feel like a win toles like four and a half or five and a half. I think they win eight games. It's a legitimate question though. Yeah, fair. Yeah, fair. And hey, here's the issue, Brown Walker. Hang up. Yeah. Who ran that race? Who ran that race faster than anyone?

What race? Oklahoma state. Oh, you got to Oklahoma state for everybody else. Oklahoma. Yes. I just got a feeling. For a coach who who when he went back there. It didn't make the biggest headlines. Doesn't it feel like it's time for UCF to bubble up again? Like again, it's a shot in the dark here, but you won't talk about transfers. They got they got transfers and who's a quarterback this year, Liam? They're quarter, but oh, it's a gross one. No, no, no, it's not. He's in. I thought it was a gross one. What's what's gross about him? That the fact I need to look it up to remember his name. It's the JMU kid. Oh, a lawns of Barnett. Yeah. Yeah. And what is a what is the lawns of Barnett? A winner. I get a runner of the football. He's a winner. A solid, deep thrower of the ball. And Scott Frost is a winner before he went to Nebraska.

Now he's putting his winning ways back together. I don't know, man, I look at UCF schedule in this league. UCF is just somebody nobody's talking about. Everybody wants to say, Kings of State's gonna bounce back here. Oklahoma State's gonna do this. Scott Frost is quietly doing some good things down there in Orlando. Then I feel like we can look up. They got nine wins at the end of the season. Yeah, that's really bad. I couldn't think of a lawns as a player, though. I do think he's fairly limited. But here's the here's the thing, Liam. You are the number one ball watcher in America. I'm the number one ball knower in America. Yeah. If every single year, a hundred guys are going to transfer, you're not going to have them all top of mind at all times. Yeah, there's 10,000 guys in the portal. And I'm losing brain cells by the minute. Yeah. But like I think is he going to throw for 4,000 yards on one in the Heisman? No. But when you're in these games and I feel like there's going to be a lot of 38, 35 games, there's going to be a lot of games in this league where it's a

two and a half points spread either way. It'll be a lot of close games. And if I got that winner under center, I feel okay. I don't know, it's just a shot in the dark at UCF. I think you could take a shot in the dark with a lot of teams. West Virginia is somebody. I think they're a year away from being really good. But I just I landed on UCF. All right, next the most underrated game in the big 12. I'm going to go first. And I'm cheating a little bit, okay? And it goes against who you picked as your disappointing team. But everybody in the country derives Notre Dame for their schedule. And they say, oh, you only play this, you only play that. That game in Provo. And I think late October or early November, I can't tell off top of my head what it is. I think it's early November. But that game in Provo is not a walk in the park. That's against the team who's been through some wars. Notre Dame is going to be coming, coming in, having not had played that tough of a schedule.

I think everybody looks down on Notre Dame schedule, but you better look up at that BYU game because that is nothing nice. And what a feather in the cap of the big 12 as a whole, if BYU were to win that game. I think it's a game people are sleeping on. And it's a very, very dangerous environment for Notre Dame. That is one of the games I'm most looking forward to this season. Yeah, so I guess underrated is not great. But I do feel like people are undervaluing how dangerous that could be for Notre Dame. I agree with that. I can't wait for that game. It's a nice clash. What is the underrated game for you? Big swing game in the middle of August, October 10th, Houston at Kansas State. Massive turning point for the winner and the loser. I gave my nod in the blood model simulations to Kansas State here. But if I had Houston winning very well, could have had them as my runner up. All right, breakout player in the league. Now I'm going to choose a breakout player that's going to, you're going to look at it and you're

going to say he broke out last year and your ball knower. I don't know how many people in America know the name camcook yet. I just don't. Camcook is now the new running back at West Virginia. He was Jacksonville State last year ran for a billion miles. Now he's at West Virginia. He's going to run for 1500 yards and people are going to like where did this come from? I think he's about to break out on a national stage. All right, I respect that. Second time in the big 12 for him. Yeah, but you I don't think he's like people saying I'm out hearty. People are saying key one lacy people are saying all these guys. Nobody's really saying his name. He's going to be given every opportunity to be at the centerpiece of a rushing attack that's going to run 60% of the time. Yeah, he's the focal point of that entire offense. As he goes, they go. Yeah, so I think camcook is going to break out in a big way on the national stage. Who's your breakout player in the conference? Kill Jackson corner at TCU, then offensively offensive tackle. Jacob Punton for Texas Tech.

Probably Punton. Probably Punton. Yeah, Punton. This episode is sponsored by BetterHelp. You've heard us talk about BetterHelp for a long time. The biggest upset you see coming, you said yours is a wild card out out of nowhere. I'll just say mine, not that big of a wild card. But give me Oklahoma State, beaten Texas Tech at home. You want to be a big time first year coach at a new place, beat Texas Tech, beat the big bully on the block and probably the biggest game they'll have this year and still water still water will be alive again. Texas Tech still goes 11 and one wins a league, but Oklahoma State beats Texas Tech and still water. I love that they've got Oregon and Texas Tech going to still water. It's very fun. Yeah, yeah. And that week two game, I don't think that's danger time for Oregon, but like it's at least tells Oklahoma State where they are. And then by the time Texas Tech gets there, maybe they got a little bit better idea. Your biggest upset.

I don't know why, dude. It was just looking at schedules and I want to find a way to fit them in. And why not Arizona State beats Texas A and them week two. Texas A and them off the heels of one of the all time fraud seasons in college football in the last decade. What happened? I mean, I understand why you picked them to take a step back ASU, but Kenny Dillingham has delivered some really good teams with really good performances time and time again. Let's not forget. Okay, Dillingham was able to find Sam Levitt, Cam Scabu and Jordan Tyson, football and the same roster Tyson was healthy. They're being Texas and the college football playoff. I like Arizona State still to get back to that ASU that we knew and loved from a few years ago and bring new names to these unfamiliar faces. So I'll take the shot that they knock off a event. Love it. I love it. And we're going to get to our SEC preview now. I assume those Aggies are coming up multiple times here in the

next five to 10 minutes because I got a lot to say. A lot to say about them. So let's just do it. Let's go right to the SEC. We got David Pollock coming up. Got a couple of voicemails for you, but we'll do the SEC preview now. Champion runner up player of the year coach of the year, disappointing team, surprise team, most underrated game breakout player and the upset. So champion of the, you know what? Let's do it in a different order. How about that? Let's get it crazy here. I'll give you your choice. It's a buffet. Do you want to do champion runner up player of the year, coach of the year, disappointing surprise, most underrated breakout player or upset? I wouldn't hate to start with player of the year. The player of the year and the southeastern conference for me is going to give away my champion. Okay, then let's go in a different direction because mine did not give away my champion. No, it's fine. It's time. Let's go a different way. All right, let's do breakout player of the year. Okay. Who's your breakout player of the year in the

SEC? Why do you say, where is Zudonvin? I can never say his last name. All of Bode. I can't say his last name catches everything that's on him. And then I do Po-hoo, I do Bo-Warr-E at Drusher Oklahoma. Brown Walker, who's your breakout player of the year in the SEC? What, what's so ever do you mean? Who do you think is going to really break out on the national stage? Let me tell you something. I had to keep, I had to bite my tongue because contrary to the burner accounts and what people think, I always talk about Mississippi State and I always talk about the SEC. You could probably add up the amount of time I talked about Mississippi State last year and fit it into like an ad. It's probably three minutes tops. But I've had to bite my tongue about Kamario Taylor because I'm from West Point, Mississippi, Clay County. One county below us is Knoxby County making Mississippi.

Some great players have come through Knoxby County over the years. Jeffrey Simmons, probably the greatest. But right now you've got Kamario Taylor, a Knoxby County Tiger. And I knew when he was a junior in high school, this was a dude. He quietly committed to Mississippi State. NIL money's going crazy everywhere. But he and his grandparents and his parents love Mississippi State. Now he's there. He's a six foot four two hundred twenty five pound freak of an athlete who's going to be the fastest player on the field at time and have the best arm on the field at all times. He is an amazing specimen of a football player. Jeff Levy has his guy last year Blake Shapen did fine. But now we're unleashing the beast. Kamario Taylor and it ain't just me. His name is on the lips of guys all over this country. He interviewed Drew Mestemecker the other day. Mestemecker was like this guy. You're not going to believe it. Kamario Taylor, the breakout player in the SEC. Thoughts? You know, I love Katie. Yeah. He's just I got I got different breakout player from Mississippi State because I,

you know, you know, me I go and look at true breakout. She's our freshman, Braille in Womack. The five star safety. Yeah, like that's just the guy that's going to play his way on the field right away. Yeah. Yeah. Um, and I'm afraid somebody like Kelly Jones, who's probably a mid first round pick is going to have to break out because people don't know him. You need to anyway, I'm talking about too much Mississippi State. Kamario Taylor's my breakout. Um, who's the most disappointing team in the SEC Liam Blutman? I mean, I've been hinting at this for weeks. If not a month now, it's Texas. And it's got nothing to do with the stuff happening. All the stuff that you see happen on Twitter in the last few days, they dismiss a linebacker, starting linebacker. There's a dad that's talking, you know, which, you know, who it's just a dad talking between between about the politics. Seem who knows if it's a little jitter or not. But what I've been saying the last few weeks, months is I don't trust Texas to sustain the duration of regular season without the locker room

falling apart with all those egos. All these guys can paid one football to go around tough, brutal schedule that early game against a high state that can knock him right off the course. I do not trust Sark to corral this team for a four or five month stretch. I don't see it. Well, let's stop right there because because I'm not ready to call him my disappointing team. But I did refrain from making them my champion because of what's happening around the program right now. It does not look good. And Sark is a great football mind. But I'm not sure I've ever considered Sark a leader of men like a Sabin or a Kirby Smarter or somebody that are a signety who can maintain their spot at the top of the sport. I just think he does it just based on, you know, football acumen and that doesn't hold up. Plus, and I don't know how much I put, I don't really put much stock coming out of practice reports because all practice reports are all glowing. And if all practice reports are all glowing, why is Archman getting such bad practice reports? After we saw him

struggle in September and October, if he's struggling in practice, that's a bad sign. Again, like you said, they play Ohio State in week two. If they lose that, the margin for error is gone for good. And I'm just going to go through the schedule because this is as tough as it gets for a big time contender. Texas State, Ohio State at home, UTSA, now they got to go on the road to Tennessee. Tennessee's got athletes everywhere if they can find a quarterback. They got Oklahoma and Dallas. That's a national title contender. They got Florida at home. They'll be better. They got Ole Miss. That's a national title contender. They got Mississippi State at home. They'll win that when they're at Missouri. Then they're at LSU. They got Arkansas at home at Texas A&M. Ohio State at LSU, at Texas A&M, Ole Miss. They play six national title contenders. If they don't get this shit, whatever the politics, whatever your hearing around Texas is bad right now. I didn't pick them to win the league, even though I think they might have the most talented roster. He just picked them as a disappointing team. I really, really, really thought about picking Ole Miss here just to be an

asshole. I think they'll take a step back because you don't go from a top six coach in the country to peak-olding and not take a step back. I think they've recruited well enough to where the step back is not going to be as big as certain teams. You've already mentioned it once already. Texas A&M was one of the biggest schedule miracles in the history of college football last year. Texas A&M started off 7-0 in the SEC because they played teams 10, 11, 12, 13, 14, 15, 16 in the SEC. You know how much of a miracle that is? A statistical oddity. The second the schedule ticked up, they played Texas. It wasn't even close. It wasn't pretty. They played Miami. They scored three points. Like they were down 33 South Carolina, they ended up winning that game. They showed signs all year of a team who wasn't quite as good as their schedule made it out to me. Now they did win it in other name. That's a huge win. That was great. But Marcel Reed, I think, is a middle of the pack quarterback in the SEC. Their lines of scrimmage are both going to come down. The schedule gets tougher.

I think it all adds up to like a six and six season for A&M. And starting the season at the top 10, that's a massive disappointment. That's my disappointing team. So we've got the state of Texas We do. We do. Brando. I mean, how do you not pick A&M? Did you just want to pick Texas? Because if Texas doesn't make the playoff, the most disappointing people are talking about Texas as having the greatest roster in college football, which they have a top three roster. No doubt about bona fide top three roster. Stop right there. Stop there. Let me ask you a question. I'm just going to give it to you right here. Last year Penn State was one year removed from in the final for an almost playing for national title by the middle of October. Franklin was gone. Is that possible for Steve Sarkies? Possible. I, I, nothing is ever impossible. I will go back to December 2025 where I,

I, that was the first time where I was like, man, I, why I'm here. I don't think Sarkies coaching there in 2027. I don't know if that's a mutual parting of ways. I don't know if that's a farting. I don't know if that's him going and taking an FL job. I just don't think he's coaching there in 2027. And I think at this point in season, it is the cherry on top of it. It's gone. We wash hands, move on next. All right. Surprise team in the SEC. Liam, I'll let you, I'll let you go first. It's hard to find the true surprise in the SEC. I went with, with the team that we talked about before we got on here. I went with Kentucky, but like, how my games could they actually win? I think it's more Kentucky in the first year of Will Stein will shock you with how competent they are, how well they're moving the ball. They've really got a quarterback in Kenny Minchi. They could really play ball, contend, hang, and they'll knock someone off like an Alabama.

They got Alabama week two, LSU week four. They could get somebody in September. I like them. I think they fit the profile. I think there's several teams that fit the profile of a surprise team in the SEC. South Carolina, Kentucky. But ultimately, I've refrained from doing it for years, but I'm just, I'm sorry. We won five games last year. People at like we won one and a half. We won five games. We lost in double overtime to Tennessee at home. We lost overtime to Texas after blowing a 17.4 core lead. Lost the Florida on the road after pulling defeat from the jaws of victory. The quarterback is good. The defensive backfield is probably top three in the SEC and nobody knows it. Defensive line needs come a long way. The offensive line needs come a long way. They spent a lot of money in the transfer portal. I think Mississippi State can win eight games and nobody sees it. The schedule is absolutely brutal and tough. But my surprise team, the Mississippi State Bulldogs. I mean, I see the path there. I don't think people understand and realize that

Katie is going to be the best athlete on the field pretty much against anyone that they're playing. Obviously, there's a few exceptions. Fluff Botwows, if he's healthy, is one of the better running backs in the cover. Kelly Jones is a top two or three corner in the country. That kid coming in Womack, if he's playing and giving you significant reps as a true freshman, his talent's just going to shine like they have a lot of dudes. Isaac Smith to be state. Isaac Smith, senior safety is also very, very, very good. Just got to get some dudes out front. Will Wittson was on the path to be a great defensive lineman last year. Got hurt in the Arizona State game. The second game of the year. Anyway, so that's a disappointing team, that's a surprise team. Let me read an ad for your wafer. I like the order we did this. Yeah, what's the- what's your biggest upset of the year in the NECC? I just love the thought of the- obviously the other one, I already said ASU tech say them as the shot. I just love the thought. We've talked about them too. You guys talked to John Someron Wub.

I love the thought of John Someron inviting Ben Mints over to his post-win party and puts a hand on his shoulder and is like, I'm sorry Ben, but we got you. We chomped you. Florida over Ole Miss. They catch him the week after the LSU game. That's a hangover. They catch him the week after the LSU game. They also Ole Miss starts with Louisville then has I think Charlotte and then they got LSU at home. That will be the emotional game on the sensory and then they got to go down the games. Well, the sleepy little trip. They didn't do well. Their last trip. They missed the playoff because of it and they lost a Florida team that's probably worse than the one this year. So that's I wrote down two and you just took one off the board. Okay. So I'll go with the other one. Mid-October. Maybe early. I told her I don't know. South Carolina was up 30 to three last year in college at the station. The quarterback that built that lead is back. They blew one. It changed their season. Actually, their season was already in the tank. But what a great opportunity. They blew last year

when they had A&M on the ropes. This year, they don't let them off the mat. South Carolina beats Texas A&M, a preseason top 10 team at home. It's the biggest win for South Carolina this year. It's the biggest loss for Texas A&M. Thoughts? Neither of us said Alabama Kentucky, which I think we both think happens. I think I would say Kentucky gets either Alabama or LSU at home and I don't know which one because LSU believes coming off the link if in trip too. So I also think and I don't want to say it because I'm too messy to state based. But I think Mr. State could could pick off Alabama or Oklahoma and back to back weeks. Yeah, there's just so many like tech Tennessee beating Texas. Is that an upset Tennessee's not top 25 right now or they're they're back half of the top 25 Texas is obviously number one two or three depending on who you listen to like there's a there's going to be a ton of games in this conference. I don't feel the same way about the big 12 or the ACC but there's going to be five or six huge upsets in this conference like Auburn I think can get

somebody Florida can get somebody South Carolina can get somebody can tucking get somebody we can get somebody. I don't think Arkansas can get somebody. I don't think maybe Vanderbilt could but I think everybody that's in spots 10 through 15 in this league can beat somebody who's one through six. All right, what's next so cross off that upset most underrated big game of the year. I'll go. I know we talked about a magnolism and you look at LSU schedule you think the game against Ole Miss you think the Opener against Clemson you think Alabama coming off a bye but then Texas Texas is at LSU late in the season and these are both teams have playoff aspirations and I feel like it's probably a third or fourth game you would talk about when talking about LSU schedules probably a third or fourth game you talk about if you're talking about Texas schedule but it's just right there in November as both teams are trying to finish off a playoff run maybe one finishes off the other one eliminates the other from playoff contention but where Texas and LSU

fall in the schedule it's going to be a gigantic massive game and I don't think it's in the top five or six that people will talk about heading into the season. So for my game both of these teams have a very difficult four game stretch to end their season one of them we expect you expect to be in the playoff Oklahoma at Mizzou this could be the game that makes or breaks Oklahoma going to the college for a playoff or not if Mizzou can play spoiler. I thought about picking Mizzou to pick off a couple teams too like there I don't like the odd mod hearty news it just feels like that's going to be something that they come out in week three is like oh he's not playing this week week four always not playing this week I don't it just feels like we're kicking the can down the road on a situation it's not going to get better although their backup running back is probably a top 10 15 running back in the country anyway so they'll be fine and I and the quarterback I don't believe in I don't believe in Austin Simmons thank you very much I don't believe in Austin Simmons

at all but like drinks a good coach and they're dangerous all right the coach of the year and the southeastern conference Liam Bleman what they're deserving or not Lane Kiffin yeah I got Lane Kiffin too I thought I thought about it a lot that I want to give it to Will Stein schedule probably keeps him from that Jeff Levy you know schedule probably keeps him from that I just think it is Lane Kiffin I think they bring him in they give him a $40 million dollar roster and they bring him in to make the playoff if he does make the playoff especially if he walks into Ole Miss and beats them like I think he's the coach of the year and the league he's the biggest name in the league he's he's the story of the league if they are a playoff team this year I think they will be a playoff team so I've got Lane Kiffin as coach of the year too um let's see player of the year and the SEC Liam boring for both mine try that shameless and call instruments so that's

your offensive and your defensive player the year de-export being the defensive end of Texas and then so mine's gonna give away my champion but there's one school we haven't mentioned yet we mentioned the volatility of Texas we mentioned Alabama Keelam Russell their starter we mentioned Texas A&M we mentioned all these teams LSU the one team that has not come up at all the name hasn't been said they're both gonna be my champion and their quarterback Gunner Stockton will be my player the year they're gonna run the football very well this year the defense is gonna take a step up a lot of young players on the defense last year the defense will be nasty Gunner Stockton will be the quarterback of the best team he will make the plays in the big games um lot last year they ended up losing in the playoff game but like Gunner Stockton made some stunningly good plays in that playoff loss against Ole Miss like Gunner Stockton put some everybody get on my back plays and then Kirby smart defense blew it um he also he did that multiple times he did it against Tennessee early in the season like Gunner Stockton at times absolutely put on the Superman cape and I think for 12 games

of him Gunner Stockton will be the player of the year for the Georgia Bulldogs who will be the SEC champions who's your player the year you said um chambles and sevens but yeah yeah right Gunner Stockton is such a better quarterback than people have forgiven crap for he is such a better quarterback I think than even his his staff and offense coordinator realizes that he can be he like if I if I'm on the college football roster one of the few quarterbacks that I want to go the war for on the college to have a Saturday is Gunner Stockton like he could lead me into the nastiest battle imaginable a gross battlefield full of blood I want to be their fighting for him it's amazing though because he he's like done that and he he's shown that he can do it once again like in that uh playoff game they lost like wasn't his fault he was he was absolutely oh and died on a sword out there um but like you talk about the SEC this year you're talking about guys uh like archmanning you're talking about

guys like Sam Levitt coming to lsu you're talking about Marseille you're talking about all these guys and meanwhile right there in the back of the room just being excellent for his entire career is Gunner Stockton I think they send back to the top of the SEC and I think he's the reason why therefore he is he is again you're right I know enough people talk about him including us including me I don't talk about him enough um it's almost like I take him for granted because he's so consistently good but he doesn't have this incredibly hypnotizing and intoxicating ceiling that an archmaning or somebody else that we pretend they have he also doesn't have like a radiating personality or aura about him that you gravitate to we'll do uh champion and runner up here in the same sentence uh I have the Georgia Bulldogs beating the lsu tigers in the championship game of the SEC what have you got? I have Georgia being lsu in the the SEC championship game I I said this last year when we were doing our previews I said I I don't know who's going to win

225 I know who's going to win 226 like the following see I knew it was going to be Georgia I'm still going to Georgia I think Georgia is going to win the whole thing I think great Georgia interior defensive line play is going to come back and the light to Griffin is going to help these ad rushers swarm quarterbacks also don't know how you throw against them and and I don't either and and every and every other team in this league is going as far as their quarterback will take them and they got to look across at the best secondary not only in the college football this year but maybe the best secondary we've seen it several years this secondary is going to be incredible they do got to get after the quarterback more um they didn't do it last year I think that was some of it was by design they kind of pulled back on the reins a little bit um I think the return of the elite Georgia defense is upon us that's our SEC preview all right to to go backwards I don't even know if I recap did I recap the big 12 so I recap it all right now I'll recap I'll recap the big 12 so my champion is Texas tech his champion was Texas tech

my runner up was BYU his runner up was Kansas State I did recap him now that mention it uh recap in the SEC I've got Georgia over LSU in the title game he's got Georgia over LSU in the title game my player the year is Gunnar Stockton his is Trinidad Chambers and Collins Simmons my coach of the years Lane Kiffin his coach of the years Lane Kiffin my disappointing team is Texas A&M his disappointing team is uh Texas my surprise team is Mississippi State his surprise team is Kentucky my most underrated game Texas at LSU his most underrated game was Oklahoma MISU my breakout player is Camario Taylor his is a receiver from Missouri you've never heard of and an ad-dressor from Oklahoma that's a beast and the uh the upset of the year I've got South Carolina over A&M he's got Florida over Ole Miss um for get to our voicemails 312 685 1889 we got David Pollock coming up um this segment is brought to you by draft kings and here we go

this is easy draft kings we're just doing a future right here Liam a future for everybody to think about and I've got one since we're in this conference they're over an underwind total is minus 140 it's 4.5 for the Kentucky Wildcats but if you jump that up to 5.5 and get them to a bowl 6.6 you can get plus 148 schedules tough you're gonna have to upset a couple teams but Kenny Minchy at quarterback willstein at at coach they brought in the offensive line they revamped looks really really good I think Kentucky bounces back bounces back in a big way re-energizes themselves they get to a bowl in the first year of willstein that's how you know you're on the way over 5.5 wins for Kentucky plus 148 on draft kings what's yours uh Georgia is plus 160 to go over 10.5 so I will be taking Georgia to win 11 or 12 games very happily we'll be taking that you and I just said they're way in the SEC we think they're the best team in the SEC the best team

in the SEC is way 11 12 games well there you go that's uh straffing us our picks the crown is yours all right 312 685 1889 lookie let's do about five voicemails then we'll get to David Pollock voicemail number one I love my shirt hey Brandon this is Dakota from lookout mountain Georgia um just had a quick question so if Camario Taylor shows out balls out like all are expecting and he wins the hosman trophy great odds on draft kings by the way sure if he wins the hosman trophy how much are you committing right now this day for his next next year's NIO package how much is Brandon coming out of pocket to keep him at Mississippi State thank you have a good um I will personally drive half my salary to make him Mississippi I will uh I will stop at the KFC there right across from the high school I'll go to a high school game I'll go watch him play Louisville or something and I will give a big check

um right there right off highway 45 half my salary to keep Camario Taylor unless he doesn't want it which which sounds like he doesn't he's just a good guy he's just chill dude so he just wants to be in starful um in my college football 27 dynasty he did win three hyzmins in a row before going to the pros at which point I signed four star deon funk who won the next three hyzmins and currently I have a four star freshman athlete named um germane sash who is the leader for the hyzmins um so seven hyzmins in a row at Mississippi State is the baseline and that's where I think we are in society three one two six eight five eighteen eight nine you should see germane sash Liam um he six five he's out of the woodlands in Texas uh I don't know how he was a four star he's a four star gem I found and I immediately made him my quarterback and yeah Jason Burnett who's from Madison was a four star I signed a couple years ago and he was in line but this sash dude he's got 93 speed he six five throw powers 97 like he's he's the real deal yeah he sounds great but I'm in on this man

not not a name I'm fearing let me tell you something when you see germane sash he six five got a go-tage redlocks he's a beautiful man you germane sash remains not a franchise quarterback name I'll give you I'll send you a picture of germane sash later um all right voicemail number two hey Brandon Brian from Memphis here uh why don't you see if you could rank these three coaches from who you think would be most likely to succeed to least likely with Charles Haft at Memphis um Eric Morris at Oklahoma State and Bob Chesney at UCLA uh curious of Blutman's thoughts on this one too so uh thank you very much before I rank these I feel very strongly that all three of these guys succeed I think if the G five level Memphis has a lot of buy-in a lot a lot of advantages and Huff is a player getter he is a player acquireer he is a player's coach he is I think he's a perfect marriage of of coach and uh city and and school and everything I mean Morris is gonna succeed at

Oklahoma State he gets there they got messed up maker they're immediately more exciting they're immediately back in the mix and and and then UCLA Chesney I think Chesney goes out there and everything I hear from UCLA praxis and everything I hear from people that go see him is like wow this guy this is a dude we have got a dude so I think all three succeed so when I rank these guys I don't want you to think if you're third you're you're you're it's hate or anything I just I do think Chesney has the toughest road being in the toughest conference like in Oklahoma at Oklahoma State you should be near the top three of the big 12 every year I think with their alumni base and their money they should be there every year so I'm gonna go Huff succeeds at Memphis number one Morris to and then Chesney three because Chesney has to deal with USC and he has to deal with Michigan he has to deal with Oregon he has to deal with all this stuff it's tougher to do it where he's at but again I think all three succeed blood men your thoughts I think all three succeed I have to say Bob one you I'm contractually obligated to do that I would say Morris to and Huff three I've been a

Huff guy for a long long time the only reason I'm playing Huff at three is while I I think he's a perfect fit at Memphis I don't think he sticks there in the long run I do think he was more than capable of a power for job and show God it coming out of out of Marshall and somehow he ends up at Southern Miss Parley's then at Memphis he's not long for the group of five scene this is a power four head coach he's not but when's the last time a Memphis coach didn't succeed like it's been a while right yeah that's a tough question are we on three in a row I mean like unless I'm missing what's on nor I mean ironically the guy who I don't think succeeded and then meet their expectations got the Arkansas job yeah silver field but he did parlay that into a job nor veil parlay did to do a job Fuente parlayed into a job like I can't remember the last Memphis coach is like oh my god he sucks no that's a really good question wow it's kind of like the two lane job right now I just feels like you get that job you you parlay that because that's

just how how it works all right next voicemail please hey Brandon long time fan here you've talked about how much you do not believe in K-Linda Boer and how you do not think he's the right for Alabama so hypothetically speaking if he were to get fired after this year what coaches do you think would be interested in taking that job realistically and who do you think they would target I know it might be a little early in the season to start talking about that but it would just be interesting to see what big-name coaches would be interested in taking that job thank you well Alabama's one of three or four teams that can target every coach in the country they can target every single coach in the country they don't have to wait and say well he'd be interested in us well he'd do this we'll use that now last time it was different because they were trying to replace Sabin and it happened unexpectedly at the end of a cycle but if like it's a shame because Lane did take the LSU job but like Lane would have taken that job in a heartbeat so you know anybody who's who's doing

anything in college football right now like if Elko if Elko were to were to go out and go to a playoff again this year and Alabama said hey come coaches I think I think you would listen signati would listen right like like nobody in the fucking nobody in the fucking country wouldn't listen to him so I think you just pick you just use like crystal ball Chris you think crystal ball is not listening if Alabama says hey come over I think if you're Alabama you just get serious about what built us last time and it was a no nonsense coach who would stop it nothing to acquire players and right now you don't have that you don't have a no nonsense coach is going to get off the bus kicking people's ass I think that's what Alabama is built on and I think that's what you got to go find and I don't think there's any limitations to to who it is across the country you you cast the widest net possible and take the biggest fish out of that net next next one place Hey Brandon Logan from Ohio here I had a question um or a prompt associate a college football brand

for these professional wrestlers it can be the history it can be right now this season it's your show do whatever you want uh your wrestlers are Rick Flair the undertaker Cody Rhodes and Jack Hardy thanks love you undertaker is Nebraska football because the undertaker was dead that one's easy um Rick Flair flashy limousine limousine rod and jet flying wheeling the island son of a gun that's lane kiffin Cody Rhodes son of a plumber um blue blood living up to his potential as a blue blood Cody Rhodes is Texas I don't really live up to their potential start over

intro from the seaball get ball podcast everybody knows david pollock is this david pollock what's up man great brother how you doing thanks for having a lot yeah yeah yeah thanks for thanks for coming on the brain and walkershow you know the brand of the brand and walkershow the bar stool interview by the way like literally every time i see you i laugh i'm like yeah the brand and walkershow the brand and walkershow on that show wake up bar stool sometimes i feel like you know seven in the morning i say you know what if i'm gonna have to get up and do this crap i'm gonna make it worth my while every single time i talk i i i'm mentioning myself being the number one cost-for-ball media personality and i know everybody gets tired of it we had dan mullinone i believe the same day we had you on uh we had ten mullinone and i just said hey coach sprang and walker the number one media personality and he just busts out laughing and i'm like all right because dan mullin knew me i was i was covering dan mullin when i was making 20 grand a year like 12 years ago and anyway uh so what's up man uh we're we're here i'm about i'm about previewed out i don't know if you are but i'm about previewed out right now i get you for sure um i think it's been

so much fun though to you know i'm a loser and a nerd when it comes this stuff so i like i've gone through every conference and gone through all the you know contenders and all the spoilers and all the teams that you think are going to have a good season so yeah i'm definitely getting to the point now but to the talking season should be done because you've picked your national champion you've done all that stuff and now everybody's definitely ready to watch the ball i didn't see have you picked your national champion yes sir who did you pick i got the ducks man i got the ducks i do i do too and i feel like i i don't know about you i don't know how how last year's prediction season got you if you came away unscathed or if you came away quite scared but last year's prediction season was nasty to everybody uh with what with Penn State and Clemson and ls u and all these teams that you thought were going to be good and all these quarterbacks you thought were going to be good and and then they just weren't so i look at the rosters to me organ screams the safest uh they're just loaded everywhere and they've been to the playoff a couple times and gotten humbled i i think people

overlooked that as a key factor of getting to the playoff being beaten and learning and then coming back later uh what is it about organ to you that makes them a slam dunk pick well i think what you just said is important like everybody is like oh dang i was i've gotten this dan can't win the big one right and i was like what will neither could ryan day yeah oh oh wait neither could curvy smart like at some point that a dan still a young football coach um he's made of all the right stuff but when i was doing my defensive lines like the top five defensive lines it was like okay here's a organ and then here's everybody else yeah like a bunch of adults a bunch of grown ace men across the board man like the lightest guy is 275 65 275 and you've got you've got a hockey wave of guys that you're going to be able to put in that are going to be so physical and uh and then guess guess what all those starters man bear Alexander senior marie washington senior to toey ui young alike senior like all these guys there is so many of these guys don't take more who's a first time picket quarterback they all could have gone to the NFL they all came back for this reason remember

organ is 37 and 0 against non national championship teams right they have been in the national championship in the last three seasons like they've been really really good last year they lost to indiana only like that's not a bad rap the year before they only lost to Ohio state the one the national championship so dan a senior laden roster a bunch of guys that are so talented with some young depth behind them to me the ducks and their schedule they seem like they can get a duck but let's uh let let's flesh that out a little bit because i i agree with you and i don't care if a coach or a program has ever done it before you've never done it until you do it uh indiana had never done it before didn't stop him curvy smart had never gotten through savin didn't stop him once it came time to do it so but but they're not the only one right so behind them you have texas and sark you have no name and Marcus freeman you have my amy and mario christleball all of these coaches have never done it before and here they are i think this is the season of the potential breakthrough for one

of those i think one of those coaches and one of those teams is getting through and i like that you laid it out like that because um dan landing is young he's taking it on the chin but now he's coming back with with such a great roster um what do you think about those other three guys now know you just uh i know you just put it out there for landing but sark freeman and christleball are in the same boat as landing sark's got to play off multiple times christleball got the national championship last year freeman played for national championship two years ago what are your thoughts on one of them breaking through i think that's a great i think there's a great point and those are the teams that are going to be very much in the mix like i know people feel some kind of way about noter name and i know last year they took their ball and they went home they're like we're not going to play yeah i don't care like marcus freeman and what noter name is is not what it used to be with your daddy's noter name like it's just not like they they've invested in who they are and what they are their roster now is investing just like everybody else for a long time it was like we're notered aim we don't have to do that stuff it's different now marcus and by the way marcus freeman is a dude

yeah like that's a dude man like that's an adult like that's a scheduled uh organized determined uh i mean he's got discipline that dude is made of all the right stuff mario christleball like finally in the right spot finally in the right world i think this world that he's in right now is perfect for him like i think he can coach it coach the guys tough i think the roster management now becomes extremely easy because you're paying for guys and my emmy has a lot of money my emmy is stacked my my emmy's office of firepower it will be the best in the country like it will take it backseat to no one texas to me is the most interesting branded because here's the thing there's no freaking excuses man yeah the only excuse for texas and i'm not i don't say this lightly the only reason texas hasn't done more is because of their toughness and when you say that about another person that's not a good thing to say right when i say oh they've got so much potential right with somebody says that brand of walkers got so much potential she's never really lived up to it

right like that that is not a good thing to say their roster takes a backseat to no one they have everything they need their schedule is extremely difficult but you went out and you got a bunch of a lot of things you needed and and the underrated thing that texas got to address the toughness is will must champ yeah getting will must champ is a DC and then guess who else they got mark stupes mark stupes is Ohio he's Midwestern he's tough like those two additions to that defensive side of the football to me really put texas in a good spot yeah i i love the roster i just the schedule gives me paul's i just that Ohio state texas game is so i know people think it's big and i know that people would list it as one of the biggest games of the year it's bigger than that because both of them have tougher schedules after that than most teams like whoever loses that game the margin of error is gone and texas then has to dive into a schedule that has you know that has uh oklahoma and has all mess and has all these teams texas a and m on the road ls you on

the road like it's it's nasty oh i'll stay it's kind of the same way they got to go to indianna later like this is this is such a huge huge game uh do you have a team that nobody's talking about that that maybe you might be in that eight to fifteen range or even further out that you think all right let's not throw the throw the baby out with the bathwater here this is also a national title contender i think um i'm very impressed with usc oh and i know a lot of people are not impressed with usc but here's here's why i'm in on usc one of my buddies that i worked with a long time went to practice the other day and he was like dude they looked the part he was like they're defensive lineman but legs like they looked the part so here's what linkin rally did first of all he's got my ava who's one of the most experienced quarterbacks one of the best quarterbacks in the country we know what kind of what we know what kind of offensive coach he is like nobody nobody denies linkin rally in the ability they're going to run the football they've got a stacked offensive line who everybody's back now they've already dealt with an injury um they've got to replace some weapons outside sure they're going to be able to run the football there'll be great on offense Gary Patterson comes in as the defensive coordinator it's been a while but Gary Patterson at

tc he didn't even know what this talent looked like but he never had this talent but led the nation in in defense in several years two or three seasons at tc you so but you look at these guys thirty freshmen that are jumping on this squad branded third and the number one player in the country wafel uh this dude six six two seventy five a immediate impact player defensive end gomen they're tied in i had a coach in the sec who's very familiar with brock bours said when we were recruiting this kid closest thing i've seen to brock bours like he'll start at tight end day one receivers out wide will do the same thing i think you as see now listen their schedule's brutal man like they play the the the big there's three that i'm writing in pen to go to the college football playoff or two that i'm writing in pen from the big ten and that's indiana and organ high-o-state always in the mix right like you're gonna you're gonna write them pretty firmly they play all three of them and to have a young squad coming in so i know they're gonna have to be better than they have been but i think this has a chance to be a really good team if the defense

gets ten percent better a couple points of game USC is going to be flirting with the playoff birth so my only thing with that one is uh when we talked about organ and texas all those have gotten to the playoff and gotten close and gotten humbled in some way and you i see can't can't get there you you at USC can't show there all that close like um every single like last year they started out good the first time they had a road test they go to illinois and they blow it you know they like they they every time you start to believe them and and they are an intoxicating blend of talent and coach and profile and you and you want USC to be good and every time anybody starts to believe them they don't come through so uh it's interesting that you you pick them because i haven't seen anybody else do it and i wouldn't do it so i'm glad that you did uh i think that's that's pretty awesome talking point um how before we get into more football how cool is it doing the esports video game it's fantastic now i will say this it's more difficult than you would ever imagine because like well here's the thing so i do it right here literally

you put the headphones on you step in there and they go okay uh third and one from the 50 yard line they ran it they got it go and you just say whatever whatever you got yeah it makes you realize how full of crap you are Brandon so they don't give you no first first of all i look at them here every every morning dude i know how full of crap i am um so they don't give you a script they just give you scenarios yeah give you give you a quick scenario and they're like all right give me 15 to 30 seconds and then you know it but it's it's so much fun because obviously growing up playing the video game um you know and then playing it now and then i coach high school football as well and my kids coming all the time like dude all you do is hate on me you're just i was like well that means you suck that's your fault like do better so there's just one there's just one talking back and forth in the game i've seen it several times when i'm playing and and it's uh you and Palmer and uh whoever the play by play guy ask you and Palmer and he's like uh you know how would you how would you block David Pollock um you know in a situation like this first 15 plays or something and and and Palmer goes uh yeah i would cut

block in 15 times and i would knock him on the ground and make sure and then you go uh pretty sure that's illegal dude uh so are you telling me y'all didn't sit down to do that that you you just you just uh i don't know where we're remote like we a lot of times we're not even together because sometimes we're together sounds pretty good yes they they do they do a great job and then you know once you've done it for a couple of years now like we have you kind of lay a base of the knowledge but it's amazing to see like how much technology grows every year and like situationally they they know exactly where you're at in the game and they're we're going to continue to to be able to push the envelope of adding team names from us and adding situational context from us like you know now when you play it's like playoff team versus playoff team and we'll be able to get to the point now in the very near future adding contested catches and stuff like that like it's it's definitely involves but it's a it's a cool gig man. So I want to ask about Georgia um you know they're never far from the national title picture as long as Kirby's there and I think last year they had a lot of young guys playing defense a lot of young guys playing

everywhere um is this the year that the dominant Georgia defense returns i'm not talking about a good one. I'm talking about the one that just dominates football games and absolutely take sure will to live. I think that it should be that this should be because last year you're like okay young young and you're looking at Elijah Griffin and Ellis Robinson like two players that you're like well these two players could be the best players at their position in the country but their freshman like yeah they're going to get there down the Chris Cole another guy who's going to be an absolute freak show animal young guy and so a lot of youth they just got to get back to being more uh more sacks more tackles for a loss they were 64 I think 62 out of 64 in the country last year still a great team still in the playoff um now I will say this they very much evolved throughout the season last year they went from playing like they used to play as Georgia vote to playing more disguise and being more creative now you got a bunch of guys that are in the system another year further that you can be even more creative you can build off of that this

this should be a dominant Georgia defense it needs to be a dominant dominant Georgia defense but this team is very much what you used to see old school they're going to run the fire out of the football right they're going to run the football consistently whether you like whether you know it or not eat the clock shorten possessions and then suffocate you on defense because the rules have changed football again man like remember a couple years ago they changed the time the clock rule well possessions are way shorter now like they're not getting as many cracks at the apple there's not as many tempo teams as there used to be the green dot in the helmet has changed communication defense wins a heck of a lot more than it used to a couple years ago and obviously Georgia's been eleted this for a while. Well today August 21st 2026 just know that the uh David Pollock just invented a saying another crack at the apple. Another crack at the apple. Never heard that one. Uh so let's talk individuals because I know you're you're needy been uh film and

all that and you you know I feel like in the summer we all talk about quarterbacks don't take more archmaning all these guys well you talk about them to death that's fine but there are guys there are dudes all over the field for these teams like guys like Jeremiah Smith came culminate receiver Colin Simmons for Texas at defensive end Dylan Stewart Leonard Moore like there are guys in this country that aren't quarterbacks that are going to be gigantic huge players this year. Who's the guy that's not a quarterback that you'd like to talk about right now. I mean there's a lot. I love that you mentioned Colin Simmons dude special dudes unique um can rush the pastor like crazy. I think he'll be putting a spot and I think that Texas defense is going to be a lot more aggressive Dylan Stewart is another edge guy for South Carolina. I don't know how healthy he'll be to start the season but a game record like literally with his quickness his first step his ability to rush the pastor so so good man like put so much pressure on you. There's a bunch of guys that too that you that you don't even know yet like guy from there's a guy from Texas tech that everybody's going to be very familiar with and he looks like Max Max he looks

like a max crossby type clone. Yeah but he he's white his name's white on the outside um he does a great job rushing the pastor consistent at homes at Texas tech is he lead on the inside AJ homes is unbelievable so I tend to gravitate towards the defense maybe the most underrated player in the country is is KJ Bolton from Georgia. I mean this dude as a safety was like Malachi Starks right next to him and then kind of been better than Malachi who was the first round pick and will be constantly roaming in the back half of secondary so a ton of guys a ton of playmakers there's a ton of running backs man like the running back position is as stacked as we've seen it in a long time with with Lacey with Hardy like I mean with Jayden ball from Florida like and by the way a lot of them are in the SEC this year these great packs but just big physical backs that break a bunch of tackles and make a bunch of plays. Yeah Mark Fletcher Miami is one yes you know how good how good will both Jacksonville high state being his second year the Texas duo that transfer it in

you know what will we see out of them running back is is fascinating plus especially because the best one Hardy you don't know you know I don't know how healthy he's going to be I don't know I think I hear he's a full go but I will we'll have to see I have a theory in the SEC I'd like to throw it out to you okay there's now there's now the SEC cow towel to the rest of college football is now playing nine conference games and that's whatever mile that you have on that fine but they're now playing nine conference games and in the top 15 of the coaches following the AP poll I believe you had about seven SEC teams all seven of those teams believe their national title contenders their fan bases believe they're going to win at least 10 games maybe 11 maybe 12 all of them LSU believes it Ole Miss believes it and him believes it Alabama believes it Georgia Texas and then one more that that just escaped my mind right there but anyway Oklahoma thank you very much they all believe which leads me to believe this season at least one maybe two of those teams their coach will be

on the hot sea at the end of the year because there's not enough air to support this balloon there's not enough oxygen in the room and I believe one or two of those teams is going six and six do you think that's how volatile an era we are in college football because remember last year Jane Franklin was safe until he wasn't Brian Kelly it fell apart quickly what do you think about the fact that it could be that volatile well Kirby smart absolutely not right thenables just got extended the board just got extended me just got there my extensions don't matter by the way I don't think extensions matter they don't matter but then thenables isn't going anywhere I've sure sure sure so I don't think he's going anywhere fair enough obviously Lane Kiffin's not going anywhere Elco's not going anywhere I think the circumstances around those teams probably probably not Texas Texas doesn't go to the playoff yeah yes yeah like that that that should be a real thing and I'm not I'm not a hot seat guy and a firearm guy but like you can't have the best roster in the game

or being the one of the best rosters in the game and not being the conversation like you you got to be in this thing to play for it now listen back in the past guys were getting fired left and right because there was only 14 playoffs right like Dan Mullin talked about that not too long ago he was absolutely right like he to made the 12 team playoff every single year but for certain schools the way they spend making the 12 team playoff ain't enough but you if you're talking about six and six yes you can get yourself fired and hurry and I in a hurry what have we got here uh I wrote down do you have do you have any players no let's go back to let's go back to the top of the sport let's go back to the top of the sport I like Oklahoma this year and I know you like defense and if you like defense and you're you're being a defensive guy you got to love this Oklahoma team you got to love you got to love what they're going to be able to do I liking them to last year's Miami their schedule is so tough if they can get to 10 and two then get to the playoff and their defense can just start suffocating people and choking them out like Miami did last year Miami was 10 and two snuck into playoff and when they got to play off they choked out a and M they choked

out Ohio State and they went all the way to the national title game what do you think about that Oklahoma defense and bring winnables yes I think it's I think it's always good and and the players always take on the persona of the coach and that's what VINNables is by the way if you go to a practice you watch them on the sidelines for years like he's just a ball of energy and he's so dagum intense and you got one of the best punches with wine and stone is a defensive and defensive tackle that's one of the best in the country you got safeties you got corners you got linebackers there is not a hole in this defense that you can poke whatsoever they might not be as deep as they were a year ago but I got a feeling we'll figure out more names they're going to rotate they play as aggressively as anyone they literally suffocate you they make you feel uncomfortable they're okay bringing zero pressure like Ty Simpson was having a unbelievable year last year was absolutely on fire he they they're like sure we'll heat you up every play like we're going to make you they make you execute and they put you under so much duress now listen let's not let's we got to dress the elephant in

the room the offense stunk a year ago like it was terrible and I think what they did in the offseason that a lot of young lineman but they had talented one of the brand and one of the things that drive me nuts is oh they've got five returning starters on the offensive line well if those five guys suck I don't care yeah like I don't care if they're returning they've got some talent up front they brought in three tight ends I think the way they play this year will be more fit to mature mature got dinged up we'll give him a little bit of excuse I literally had him on the show the other day and he was like I didn't realize how much it changed my throwing motion and nobody's going to say that during the season and you're not going to cop to that but he's tough as nails he's strong he's big they can build this thing around shrinking possessions they can build this thing with 12 personnel which is more tight ends on the field more running the football they bring in Harris from from Virginia one of the better receivers to go with satania like I think they have more weapons and if that offense takes a step forward which it's going to it's going to take a significant step forward

and the defense is playing like they are you're not going to want that smoke because they're going to make you execute and again the complete teams there's not a lot of complete teams you can have an off day on one side of the ball or have a bad matchup when you got a complete team that can pull you through when you have a really good offense and a really good defense when you're one dimensional it's really when you only have a great defense and your offense is always sputtering like you can't win all of these games if that offense comes up man yeah you're not going to want that smoke from Oklahoma. No I think that I would like them to maybe in the end of last year which people look at number one overall pick high as my winner but there were games when they were just okay on offense and that defense just kept everything under control until Mendoza go make me a play to win the game and he had he did every single time every single time the defense kept him in there and he went and did it it was amazing. Let's I'm going to take time machine right now I go back in 2000 2002 whenever you graduate high school you're you're a five star defensive recruit coming out

right now right now in the class of 2027 who's a coach and I'm not saying and would you go back to Georgia again whatever but who's a coach in this country that you look at and like man I'd love to fucking play for that guy. First of all I want my checkbook in that era. Yeah I would love to because we couldn't eat back in that day we could have a bagel but we couldn't even have cream cheese because it was against NCAA rules which is the biggest crock of crap ever that would be nice to have that opportunity. I would say there's a bunch of them man. Vinnables would be one with his style with his aggressiveness with who he is with the way the defensive line plays they play aggressive they don't two gap Brandon like that's the worst the worst thing in the world for me is I don't want a two gap I don't want to sit there and play conservative like I want to play up the field and play like my hairs on fire get sacked get TFL's like yes please that's the it's one of the most fun things you can do. So let me just just for everybody out there so two gap you're you're standing conservative you're you're engaged with the blocker you can go this way you can go this way wherever the wherever the play is going right. So wherever the lineman goes yeah I have to

strike him so I literally I don't attack him I read and react to him so if he goes to block me this direction I go with him and I try to play that gap yeah he goes that way I go with him and try to play that yeah like you want I got one gap means I line up on a shoulder and I blow and go if he goes this direction I just fly up feel and go try to make place so it's fantastic it's more fun Kirby from the standpoint like Kirby so like the development and the toughness and the accountability is so great man like it's just it's so elite you got to love the way he holds people to a standard that is incredible. Signeti how are you not wanting to play for a signeti like less practice time on the field right like he's he's all about like watching tape and doing some of the other stuff keeping his players healthy like those are that's a great thing dabbo with his with his faith and the way he leads is unique it's different I love it that's right up my alley so like those are a couple guys that I think that I just really respect them and the way they do their thing all a little bit different you know all you know extremely different but all very successful.

You mentioned a little while ago you were doing a little high school coach and what kind of coach are you or you are you are you are you are you know pat him on the butt what kind of coaches David Paul. I think it depends on what my players need. Yeah okay you know because sometimes you definitely got to get but I'm not the I'm not the guy going crazy going nuts like I want these kids to really have fun man and now I want to push him and I'm going to expect them to work and I'm going to hold them to a standard and not let them slack off but like I want to get to know a man I want to get in their lives a little bit and try to help them with whatever's going on and I want to know if they're going to homecoming I don't know if they're going to prom like I'm trying to love on them and trying to be a good mentor for for for long term life but I but I will also get in your ace like I definitely like what are you doing where are your eyes how are you not paying attention to what you're supposed to be paying attention to like we have to be able to count on you the best you know if you're not dependable you're not going to play like so a little bit of both. How do you think you coach me? I think you could take it I'm pretty sure you'd be able to take. If I mother blanked you you'd be like you'd probably mother blank me back

actually yeah yeah I would be suspended for the first game also I'd be four string at best um there's a team you mentioned in there what we'll wind down soon I know your time's valuable I appreciate you uh there's a team we just mentioned that we haven't really mentioned before we talked about Oregon we talked about Miami we talked about Ohio State we talked about all those teams Indiana is a Fendi National Champion Indiana is defending national champion and it seems like every other day they're adding back a defensive piece that was there last year it seems like every other day we already knew the defense was going to be good oh by the way he's coming back oh by the way he's coming back another guy a new quarterback but they are as under the radar is a defending six and 16 and no team can be what do you like what do you think about Indiana this season? Well I mean like the ranks six than the AP yeah like everybody's crapping on them yeah like I we did our rankings on our show last night here's what I believe Brandon I don't care what you did last year I'm judging you on what you are right now like that's that's how you should rank that's how I look at it when I'm talking about rankings Indiana has great lines of scrimmage on both sides of

the ball that's a great start they have a great coach that's proven it that's been there done that it's a little bit different this year because it was oh poor old Indiana now it's like everybody's realized they're a national championship everybody's talking good about them here's the thing I know they're going to be elite I know they're going to be really good I'm I'm okay with putting Indiana in the blue blood conversation right now like playoffs national championship they just went undefeated which I didn't even think would happen in college football ever again at 16 to no I thought I just thought you'd slip up and trip up and you saw they had some competitive games what was here's what I'll boil down to is why I don't think Indiana want to win a national championship yeah last year Brandon if I told you whoever you in the playoffs in the playoffs bracket whoever you put Mendoza on I think their team would have won it like that's how good I think Fernando Mendoza is yeah I thought he was so you're telling me now Josh Hoover is a he's a star he has elite talent in his arms when when it got really thick in the national championship game what a Mendoza do he took off and ran broke tackles had a bloody nose like you can't account for

that I can play much better defense against you when I know you're not going to run he's not going to run I know they can run the football but those second reaction plays those big-time moments of I will get beaten the face and hit in the face the poise against Penn State the toughness against Miami like I just I haven't seen that from Hoover he's really really good but Mendoza was all time great for Indiana and I just think that there's going to be guys that he's going to do against that are going to have that ability and I think Indiana will in the end be in the playoffs have a great season but I don't think they'll win it all do you think the 2026 LSU football season will be remembered for the Lane Kiffin circus or the return of LSU to the top of college football can they both be true they probably have both because because Lane the circus is going to fall Lane regardless and now listen it's a it's a it's a detriment to all of us Brandon that he is not on social media anymore like that that is a that is a blow to all of us in this business because he's there somewhere David he's there somewhere I hope he comes back for the season at least like

all right got hey a nox I proved to you I don't need social media but now watch like this is this is the time of the year when I need to poke people I think LSU the interesting thing about LSU man is they spent so much money there's so much attention like Mark Schlaiball's probably living there this year he's just going to fall away and around everywhere he goes we're going to talk about them to a tee how good are they because that schedule is brutal man like that schedule is absolutely brutal nine and three is success but but if I'm LSU man when I won championships like with Joe burrow and when I was really elite man like the firepower the firepower from offense Lane's going to bring that this year he's going to be a pain in people's butts he's going to beat people that he shouldn't beat probably and I think LSU fans are going to be happy but he's going to be hovering to me around the nine and three mark like right there on the edge of making the playoff and a couple things would have to go there's way and they'd have to stay healthy and levitt's going to have to ascend to a place of consistency which he's been really great at times he just hasn't been very consistent you think we'll have an undefeated team this year I know you

you keep mentioning the word schedule and it is well those top level contenders Texas very tough Ohio State very tough Oregon kind of tough but manageable Indiana tougher than it was last year you know I mean Notre Dame not really all that tough one team that could do it yeah there's one team that could be undefeated to me this year and that's Texas Tech like Texas Tech's schedule they play one right team David it's not good it's very ungood okay it's ungood their quarterbacks coming off an ACL obviously sourcebeast gone which would have changed the whole dynamics of this team they got the best running back depth in the country they got three guys that they can hand the ball to they're better on the offensive line but Brandon that defense takes zero steps backwards if you think that defense is going to fall off at all by the way when they got in the playoff they gave Oregon all they want to defensively offensively they could not do a dad gum thing it was absolutely terrible so if they can get better offensively that schedule is going to they're last year they want their schedule was great they had 11 wins by 20 plus points you know walked into the big 12 they're

going to walk into the big 12 championship game probably play a BYU but that's the only team that now if you get hot will Hammons good the the offense takes some significant steps forward but otherwise to me the schedules are just too brutal to to do that and I said the same thing about Indiana a year ago and I was completely wrong yeah I was too I was too I thought what I said about Indiana to begin the season was I think they're going to be a better team this year and lose twice because of schedule stuffer and they didn't they didn't lose twice at all they but they actually didn't lose that all they they won every single game all right he got in weekend circled that you're like oh this is this is the big one I mean I know with a we got that LSU Ole Miss game in week three that seems like it when it takes into hyper drive I guess Ohio State and Texas in week two Oklahoma Michigan week two kind I'm so ready to get this thing started David you're you're done with the talking season you've got it had enough and that's all I do is talk I just I just I just keep going over and over and over and you know week one's kind of week this year not not really as strong but it is week one so it's the opener so we'll all be locked in and locked and loaded but week two

give me give me Oklahoma in the big house give me Ohio State and Texas give me all that just remember that this is the last Saturday that Brandon is going to look look at his look at his wife look at his family and be like hey babe what are we doing like and it's the last Saturday Saturday you might have to acquiesce and do something you don't want to do because then moving forward every other Saturday my baby I was like hey there's a concert Saturday in October and I was like okay she's like well you want to make it a couples thing and you want me to make it a girls thing I was like what's like the girls you think babe yeah she's like I sort of thought she's like girls thing because I absolutely well let me tell you something brother I am I've been married 20 years this year okay so this world where you say I have to now for the fall weekends I have to decide if there no no that's every weekend I'm playing golf my friend I'm playing golf every Saturday I'm playing golf every Sunday and uh uh you know we play I'm between about 85 and 90

every every time I can I can throw an 80 84 at you every now but no I'm not good but me and my wife after 20 years are completely content running our own organizations on the weekend it is it is just fine and once again I got told you my wife went to the same high school you went to I learned that this morning pretty cool uh tell that general I said what's up yeah I will do it hey man I appreciate your time maybe as we get in the season we'll do it again and see where we were wrong yeah yeah there'll be plenty of spots I know that yeah just hit me out absolutely all right that's David Pollock thank you very much uh make sure you guys go watch the seaball get ball podcast it's fantastic stuff uh he knows what he's talking about unlike some people myself included uh that's David Pollock and that is the Brandon Walker Cults football show Ray make it ringer make it hey prime members grub of it and Amazon have just the thing to help you you can get zero dollar delivery fees on eligible grub hub orders visit amazon.com slash grub hub to start saving terms and additional fees apply jersey check snacks check lucky spot on the couch
