This episode is sponsored by BetterHelp. If you could wake up tomorrow and be better at one thing, what would it be? Mine's easy, patience. I want it now. I want my book written, my body back, the launch done, and when it takes longer than I want it to, I'm not exactly a joy to be around. That's not an impatience problem. There's something underneath it, something driving it. Now, finding that thing, that's the actual work. And that's what a good therapist is for. Better is a feeling defined by you. And for BetterHelp, it's a BetterHelp therapist who really gets you. It's a focus on global, emotional well-being, with thousands of therapists and millions of members in over 100 countries. It's progress. Sign up and get 10% off at BetterHelp.com slash QOD. That's better, H-E-L-P dot com slash QOD. Steve, you're gonna go tell jokes.
That's stupid. You can't make a living telling jokes. Oh, really. Welcome back to the quarter of the day show. I am your host, Sean Croxton of Sean Croxton dot com. Happy Monday to you. We got Steve Harvey on the show to kick off the week. And today's QOD is this. I knew that I could not read the book. I'm gonna go tell you what I'm gonna do. And I'm gonna go tell you what I'm gonna do. I'm gonna go tell you what I'm gonna do. I'm gonna go tell you what I'm gonna do. I'm gonna go tell you what I'm gonna do. That I could not remain the same and change. Steve's gonna talk about what you must be willing to do if you want to break through to the next level. And breaking through to the next level is not going to be easy. You're gonna have to leave some people behind. And you're also gonna have to be okay with people leaving you behind.
And people trying to keep you from moving forward. People will try to trip you up. And that's okay. That's part of the game. It's baked in. But what I think is even more important than the people that you're probably gonna have to leave behind. I'm not saying all the people. I'm not saying cut your friends or anything like that. The sum aren't just gonna be willing to go with you. It's kind of how it works. But what Steve doesn't talk about is the fact that for you to get to the next level, you are gonna have to leave you. So we talk about like becoming someone new in order to have something new. Well, you can't become somebody new while being the same person who thinks the same way and does the same things. Like next level is next version of you. And there's gonna be parts of yourself that you're gonna have to leave behind. And to get there, you're gonna have to be okay with that. Steve Harvey's coming up. A better help ad. Imagine carrying a backpack every day.
Every conversation, every mistake, every expectation. You probably wouldn't notice how heavy it was until someone asked if you wanted to put it down. Sometimes feeling better starts exactly like that. Better isn't one size fits all. Better is personal. It's therapy tailored to you to help lighten what you've been carrying. Match for the therapist who truly gets you. Visit betterhelp.com. When you are trying to get to the next level and you can see where you're trying to get to, there is a ceiling that you have to break through. But in order to get to the next level, it's because you can see what you want to become. But the only reason you can see the next level is because this ceiling is made of glass. In order to get to the next level, you must be willing to break through the glass.
Anytime you break through glass, you are going to get cut. You are going to bleed. And in order to get to the next level, you are going to have to give up something that you care about. You cannot take everything with you. Everybody come with you, you can't go with you. See all your friends, they can't go to the next level because they'll get up there with you in the way they behave, they'll mess it up for you. So when you go through the glass ceiling, you have to be willing to get cut. The cut is going to put some bruises and bludged. But that's the only way to get to the next level. I understood that. I knew that I could not remain the same and change. You got to grow. You can't hang out with everybody you've been hanging out with to go to the next level. You can't do everything you used to do. If you do that, you'll never grow.
You got to be willing to let's... I had to leave my family. My family didn't get it. Go ahead. My family didn't get it. You know, they thought, Steve, you're going to go tell jokes. That's stupid. You can't make a living telling jokes. Mm. Mm. Oh, really? Oh, really? Yeah. Yeah, I did how much I've made telling jokes. So I had to let my family go. It was the time when my family wasn't even talking to me. Stupid. Quit your job. Leave your family. Pursue your dreams. What you want me to do? My family wasn't supporting them. I got to cut my family loose them. It's okay. Oh, they all love me now. Because I help all of them. I'm the youngest one in my family. I only had two older brothers and two. My youngest brother is 11 years older than I am. My oldest brother died.
I'm the youngest one in my family. I take care of my whole family. Everybody get a check every month. Everybody here. Just take a check. But the same words are said you are stupid. They're exact same words. But I forgave them. They didn't know. They had no idea. They didn't know. You don't even call us, no more. Hedge. What we gonna talk about? You don't believe in what I'm doing. So why would I keep calling you? Why you steal? I have to tell you, damn jokes. You'll see. You'll see. And now they all see. Oh, my little brother. I have the best little brother in the world. He is wonderful. Yeah, you damn right. I'm wonderful now. That's why I was able to walk away because I saw more. You cannot see the same and see more at the same time.
You either gonna see more. You just wanna see the same. You'll have, you'll know when it's time to walk away from people. And some people you need to walk away from. Because some people just just your friends as long as you down here with them. But the moment you go there, they start talking about you. That's cause they weren't your friends no way. Some people is sometimes as good. You have to let them go. And now gonna get it. That was Steve Harvey leading off the week his website is Steve Harvey dot com.
