You're listening to His light, your path.
Today, Pastor Rodholler Sr. shares an uplifting devotional titled, Surrender, The Way to Victory.
In this devotional, Pastor Holler invites us to take an honest look at what it really means
to let go and fully trust God with our lives.
Genesis chapter 32, verses 24 and 25.
And Jacob was left alone, and there wrestled a man with him until the breaking of the day.
And when he saw that he prevailed not against him, he touched the hollow of his thigh,
and the hollow of Jacob's thigh was out of joint, as he wrestled with him.
One night as Jacob slept, he was awakened, and he was engaged in a great wrestling match.
In the context of his clear, that Jacob was wrestling with God.
God saw good in Jacob, and he wanted to get Jacob on a path of righteousness.
Therefore, this great wrestling match.
But God saw that Jacob was not submitting to him.
Therefore, God touched him, and his thigh was out of joint.
Think about the power of God.
He is wrestling with Jacob, offering great resistance,
but one touch of God put Jacob's thigh out of joint.
God could have won this wrestling match at any time,
but he allowed Jacob to struggle.
But enough was enough, and a simple touch from God changed Jacob from wrestling to clinging.
He was no longer resisting God, but rather he was clinging unto God until he got blessed.
Genesis 32.26, and he said,
Let me go for the day breaketh, and he said,
I will not let thee go except thou bless me.
And God did bless Jacob, who went on to be a great man of faith.
Let us think about this man, Jacob.
He resisted God, but God saw goodness in him,
but Jacob was not useful to God until he was wounded.
God had to put his thigh out of joint to weaken him into surrender.
When Jacob was weak, then he was strong,
for he no longer resisted against God.
The Apostle Paul referenced this condition in his life.
2 Corinthians 12, 9 and 10,
and he said unto me, My grace is sufficient for thee.
For my strength is made perfect in weakness.
Most gladly, therefore, will I rather glory in my infirmities
that the power of Christ may rest upon me.
Therefore I take pleasure in my infirmities,
in reproaches, in necessities, in persecutions,
in distresses for Christ's sake,
for when I am weak, then am I strong.
Jacob suffered the rest of his life from that dislocated thigh.
Consider Hebrews chapter 11, verse 21,
by faith Jacob, when he was dying,
blessed both the sons of Joseph and worshiped,
leaning upon the top of his staff.
Every time that Jacob leaned on his staff,
he was reminded of God working in his life.
Both Paul and Jacob had to suffer physically,
so that they could be useful to God.
How about you?
Are you resisting God?
Are you refusing to trust Jesus as your Savior?
Are you a Christian, but you will not submit your life to God?
The Christian life is the best life.
This is not a game.
There really is a God, and he wants the best for you.
Surrender in your wrestling match with God,
and give him the victory.
And when you give him the victory, you also win.
Thank you for joining us for today's devotional surrender,
the weight of victory with Pastor Holler.
We hope you were encouraged to know that surrender
isn't a sign of weakness or defeat.
It's about finding real strength
by handing our struggles over to God.
We look forward to having you back tomorrow
for another encouraging devotional from Pastor Holler
right here on his light, your path.
