And we are live right on time for a Monday morning and early Monday morning starting at 11 a.m. instead of noon
which is typical what can I say some of the things that I've done within improving my own performance
and some hacks and some AI which we're going to talk about today has just drastically improved my
performance and I would have been ready to go today at 10 which is kind of cool because usually I'm
about ready now and then I have about an hour to psychologically get ready and take care of other
things so we're going to be talking about how to improve everything today in our lives using believe
it or not AI and I know I'm going to get at least the token person or two it's a demon it's going
to take over the world or what did I get last week don't normalize it there is no normalizing or
not normalizing at this point this goes to one of my laws of life what what is or what will be is
more important than what should be or what you wish would be right this is this is happened
this is coming to existence right if we look back it kind of feels like we've we've had this
technology a long time those of us who have been using it but it was about in 2022 when it's
chat GPT drops and that was kind of the first tool that kind of went everywhere to everybody that
people started using but that even took like another year so we're two to three years
into this disruption and think about faster really went every major search engine right now has an
ask or an AI option right everything you're doing on social media has an AI option attached to it
Facebook with meta AI like when I do a post is like hey you could do this post even faster with
real or crappy ass AI tool but it also has things like when there's a post where you can ask it
to be explained to you you can fact check it you know depending on how good are you with a tool
you'll either be able to fact check it or not depending on who you trust and what it's about but
it's there the same with Groc on X there's an AI tool go to go to Amazon right now go to buy
something you might even not really pay attention and notice if there's a little thing that a
roof is can help you that's their AI and I've actually found it quite useful like I've had
things like hey I wonder does this come with and I'm trying to find like does it have the charger
it doesn't have the battery or something like yes roof is knows or you can ask me what is the
instead of going through all the reviews what is the number one negative complaint that more than
three people have and boom there it is so what is AI not in now AI's in your apps on your phone
and here's the big thing every single company out there that's of any significant size
right now is shitting in their pants to what they do about this is they do not have an answer
even the ones using it they're really not sure they really don't know what to do with it they know
they have to do something with it they know they cannot ignore it but they're terrified
and I can tell you that not every manager even senior management director level CEO
is looking to lay people off one of the companies I worked with in the past was actually an early AI
company we just didn't well we had AI we told the client step but it wasn't the kind of AI you know
now they give it like internet before you know you've got mail like that we built tools software tools
you self-learning algorithms to help carriers predict the requirements in the future and we were
very very accurate and this is all the way back in like 2004 2005 we were doing that
and our biggest barrier to selling wasn't the product didn't work it it was that by the time we got
to the level of the person that we could sell it to they looked at it as Jesus I'm going to have
to lay off 300 senior engineers once I have this some of them even told us that like I can't
just if I keep in this head cap and I didn't think the way I'm thinking today about AI back then
and I was telling ourselves people and our company president like asking them what the problem is
of course I knew what the problem was I just didn't have a solution to it and that is the problem
was the technology replaces the person but if the technology makes the person better
this is where we're at today right you're you're going to have to start realizing that you can
either adopt AI yourself personally for personal agency and become better as what you are your
profession your life everything or you can let AI replace you that's some of what we're going to
talk about today but I think today's episode might be one of those things that really blows you
away if you allow it to and I'm going to tell you that this will be applicable if you are a high
level sales professional if you are a director and a major company if you are a yuck in a truck as
we used to call it back in my cabling days anything in between because let me let me frame it this way
what company would say I don't want my people to be better people I don't know but if you
can find one I don't want to work there right I don't even want to consult to them I don't care
how big your bank account is if somebody really says I don't want better people what what are you doing
what are you doing so strap in guys you're going to like this one if you're new to this show and
you've never tuned in before you're like who is this jerk I thought this was a survival podcast
why aren't we talking about guns and bullets and band-aids and storing food and growing our own
food and home-steading and all that good shit we talk about that too we talk about that too
what I want you to realize today though if you're tuning in for the first time
is that one of the things we do here one of many things we do is we prepare people for an
uncertain future and we teach lifestyle design and entrepreneurship and we teach investing
and finance and economics as well and we do that because these are all things that follow the
show credo live a better life if times get tough or even if they don't see if you only have a plan
for failure you only have a plan for failure you don't have a plan for success and that's not going
to work especially in the world that we're in today so we use preparedness as a piece not
as lifestyle design as a piece of lifestyle design because sooner or later the shit does hit the
fan sometimes it hits the fan globally nationally statewide regionally but most often it hits us
individually small region locally that's where it hits us it hits our family and our neighbor
doesn't know this though this technology disruption and make no mistake about it that's what it is
it's not a technology innovation we have innovations all the time this is a technology disruption
it disrupts the workflow of every major entity on the planet now and will soon disrupt
the workflow of everyone but it can be for the positive or the negative dependent on how you harness it

YouTube since because I talk about the other things I am shadow band and have been since about
2013 all right with that before we get into it let's go ahead and hear from our sponsors of the
day sponsor to the day number one a day is built on USA and I'm going to tell you this is a great
company to do business with the owner is one of the most salt of the earth people I've ever met I've
met him many times in real life he's not from too far away from me about an hour north of me now
he is a homesteader he is also from South Africa a legal immigrant I said legal he does a really
great job with his product set he imports things from all around the world he doesn't just make
built on so there's other things to check out a built on USA.com but he really blew up his
built on business and kind of centered on that during the cold good time because he had just opened
up a store and then all of a sudden everything was shut down and it kind of blew up for him and if
you give it a try you'll find out why built on is amazing also you really want to check out the
built on sticks that's STI actually find them on the site that's like little neat peanuts when
you cut it up in pieces that's how I look at it the Drew Wars and the Kalbanazi sausage and all
the other cool things that Anton imports from all around the world next up today is canine academy
my audience is full of dog owners and dog lovers I you know I'm one of those people if you don't
like dogs I probably am not going to like you I think dogs are they really are man's best friend
but they can also be man's worst nightmare or a family's worst nightmare like you come home
and your house is destroyed by the dog or you can't bring company over because the dog won't
stay off the more hey I wanted a dog and I wanted chickens but now I have a dog with chicken blood
on its mouth and no chickens you can learn to make that all go away and teach your dog the right
way to be a good citizen on your home and your homestead you can learn how to do that at canine
academy dot us he jolly even has a really great free course you can take it's called the problem
solving library that's a great way to see if this is right for you at no cost out of pocket again
the problem solving library you can find it all where canine academy dot us of course with that
let's go ahead and jump off into today's discussion and I kind of want to take you back in time
just a little bit today not not real far back but I want to take you back to right about the time
that AI started to really show up once it really quick started to become not just a nerd tool
we're wasn't just the guys that always play with new technology doing it like your kids started
using it or you started using it or at least your co-worker started using it uh teacher started to
worry that kids were using it to do their term papers and things like that it just started to roll
and think about that time and think about the two different ways that people
reacted to it these were embraced it or they shunned it and and I'm going to say way over half
the population it's like screw that on and do it right um and those people there's still the
majority I actually think and most of them now instead of screw that it's more like I'm going to
ignore it and I'm going to hope that it goes away and then there's a lot of those people who have
have not really snapped to how to use it yet how to use it in a way that progresses forward
in the right direction instead they're just if they're using it at all they're using it to
go faster without any real direction without any real control it's like jumping in a car
and flooring the gas but you don't know where you're going right and those people buy in large either
they look at it and see it and they're not dealing with it or they're dealing with it sloppy
but what they're most concerned about right now especially if they're a knowledge worker
it's going to take my job it's going to take my job I'm going to lose my job and most people today
they do any sort of work that primarily keeps them behind the desk if you ask them if they're
concerned about AI taking their job and they say no they're either the most uninformed human on the
planet okay or they're lying or potentially they have like six months left before they retire
in which case okay fine but most people are concerned about this today even if they feel their job
is relatively safe they worry about this concept of like mass layoffs AI replacing 50%
of the workforce or something like that so when I looked at it I immediately said what I always
say right we're not going to run out of jobs because we don't we're not going to run out problems
and if we run out of problems we don't have problems so there's no problem as long as there's problems
we're going to rely on other people to help us solve them so we're going to go to those other people
to solve those problems and that is an opportunity for employment so I looked at it and said I can
either ignore this thing use it as a kind of shitty ass cheat code right like turning to the back
of the book to get the answer in math class in high school where you really don't learn anything
or I can use it to be a better me and in my case being a better me is being a better
podcaster a better speaker a better author and a better marketer and so almost instantly to the
sure again grant of many people in this audience I took that route and I like to tell you now
I'm so glad that I did because everybody in my position who is just now starting to use it is like
damn damn I have so much to catch up to we're in the beginning by being an early adopter it didn't
matter how slow you went as long as you're going the right direction you were pulling ahead of
everybody that didn't touch it and this is very similar to me to what happened with Bitcoin with
many of y'all way back in the day like 2013 I was telling you buy some Bitcoin buy 100 bucks a
month buy some Bitcoin just buy it and hold it it's worth doing and over the years I constantly
came back at you and I said over and over again what about Bitcoin it is the largest disruption
of the financial system you will see in your lifetime you don't want to let it pass you by
the window ain't closed on Bitcoin it won't be closed 10 years from now it won't be closed 20
years from now but when when I was telling you that the window was there wasn't even a window in
the frame yet it wasn't the window was open the house was framed the sighting wasn't on it yet and
the window was in a box in a back of a truck on the other side of town waiting for a contract or
to bring it over and many of you are like I don't like this I don't want this to be true so I'm
going to pretend that it isn't because my mind says this can't be as important as this jackass as
it is I don't mean to be like I told you so but on some levels I told you so and this is now
the biggest disruption that is going to show up in the workplace which is how most of you like
pay the bills feed your kids plan for retirement take vacations and buy my chick so if I ignore this
I'm not serving you or myself so that's my kind of case to you today for why this is important to
you either AI is going to replace you or you're going to use it to become a better you cable puller
plumber data compiler software coder web server manager director of sales VP of sales chief
operating officer chief financial officer I don't give a shit that's the only choice you have now
because the people you're competing with especially the young ones coming up that are hungry
if you're like 35 45 headed you're in that stride point of your life you don't have this if you
don't make the most of that by the time you're 45 companies start looking at you like hmm by the
time you're 50 they start looking to how do we pass through this guy how do we pass through this guy
how do we hire somebody that can do more faster with more energy that's hungry here they cost us
tell me it doesn't happen so you have to deal with this or you can deal with it this way I'm
going to read the whole comment maybe I'm wrong I have no desire to interface with AI okay well
that's fine you're going to do it anyway you're not going you can't run a Google you're already
doing it if you run a Google search AI serving up the next video you're going to see after this
you're going to interface with it so you can ignore it but it won't go not only want to go away
it won't not affect you shallow thinking this is one of the biggest thing I want to drive across
today probably there's shallow thinking and there's deep thinking about how to use AI shallow
think is how can I use AI to do my work faster got it I have a report to to my boss I'll throw the
data in it AI will write the report I'll tweak it and I will do in five minutes what used to
take me two hours to do I think it's your boss knows you're doing that because he's probably doing
it with he gets your report and five other of his direct reports reports he puts all six together
to AI and he has a report to keep kick it up to management and he speeds up his workflow
but it's still very shallow thinking because since you don't deeply understand what's being done
it's going to be transparent and every time it goes up it's probably become more transparent what
you did and then your your company starts looking at it like do we really need as many people
so reasonable question if that's what's going on inside an organization or you as an individual
right like if that's what this person is going to do can I just get the other guy I like better
to do his job and give him a raise I'll give him a 10% raise and I'll come my cost 90% on those two
employees see how that works you don't want that so what is deep thinking how can I AI help me
do better how can it help me produce better work more accurate work how can it free me to do more
work not how can it replace me how can I use it as a leverage tool so that my output goes up
40% instead of my workload goes down 40% and I get more out of it
like I get more out of my work I get more out of my life because it is not just about being a
better data technician it's about better being a better man or a better woman
that is what you can always do with lifestyle design and management you can always become a
better personal individual leader huge topic we talk about is individual leadership you can do
it to spot opportunities for your company for your department for you and to develop a career
progression path by some of the techniques that I'm going to give you today so I want to start off
with most of what I do comes from what's called the crit method by Jeff Woods who wrote the AI
driven leader but I've taken his base formula and I've started to figure out ways to leverage it
differently than most people do but to understand what I would I do for leverage off of it you need
to understand the formulas I'm going to review it for you in case you haven't heard it before
and those of you did make sure that you are up to speed on it so the crit method again is outlined
and it's today's out of the day by the way the AI driven leader by Jeff Woods and it is context
role interview task okay the context is simple the situation and what you're trying to do
I am a data cabling technician with 15 years on the job my current responsibilities include
the person I report to is the people that report to me are the type of customer I deal with is
the things I love about my job are the things I hate about my job are is detailed as you can be there's
no such thing as too much detail in the context role who you want AI to be in this discussion you are
an internet marketing expert with background and expertise in viral marketing and fill in the
blanks and keep going build the person that you wish you were talking to if you could call
anybody in the world right now may get somebody not necessarily famous but well enough known that
there's like data out on who that person is what their philosophy is a speaker an author a
podcaster whoever a business consultant and a group of them is even better like you come from
the school of thought of these people you are an expert in be dialed in very specifically
as to what you want that person's expertise to be you're already customizing the output now
it's not going to go broad it's going to go it's going to go down and get granular and specific
to your situation just by doing this this is all one long prompt by the way okay interview
you ask AI to ask you questions Jeff says three to five questions I like telling you ask me
ten questions I don't think it can ask me too many questions the key is when you say ask me
these questions you say ask me these questions one at a time do not ask me the next question
to like answer the current question because this will change the questions that AI you're going
to turn AI into an interviewer okay task task AI with a specific requirement after your interview
an example Jeff uses might be a director that's trying to come up with an initiative you know
tell me ten non-obvious opportunities that are sitting in front of me right now that I probably
don't see what I should that would be the task he might give it your task might be my goal is to
advance my career to this level I am looking for a pathway to that based on my current situation
what can I do to go forward help identify those opportunities so I can accomplish my career goals
got it or it could be I'm rolling out a marketing campaign for this product or I am changing
the smart plugs in my fucking car it doesn't matter it doesn't matter nurse Wang saying the
crit method has completely changed and powered my use of AI agreed saying that's what I always
try to give credit to Jeff when I do this and I pump his book more you know I'll make a quarter
of a book if I sell one through my link but this guy fantastic fantastic methodology that he dropped
and so that's the crit but my view is you take crit to a completely different level when you get
it dialed into what you want everybody talks about making custom agents I want custom agent is
a feature in chat GPT we call it that because that's what it is right we call an excel spreadsheet
an excel spreadsheet because it's an excel spreadsheet but what's on that spreadsheet you know it might
be a takeoff which is a you know something you use for a bid on a job it could be an inventory
management tool it could be an accounting thing right it could be a product development schedule
anything could be in there and so when we want to explain what we're really given somebody I'll
say I'm sending you an excel spreadsheet I'll say I'll say I'm sending you a budget analysis
it's not quite the same but if we use that thinking what these really are is personal advisors
or personal assistance or personal whatever in other words it's personalized to you you're like
you want your desires and you're sending it up to be available to you so once you get crit to do
exactly what you want you you like the results you're getting you can then add some additional
instruction but what you want to do is use it to create these custom agents so first you
use create and you establish the type of results you want when you're like this is exactly the
kind of thing I'm looking for maybe it's not the same question I'm going to have every time but
this is the angle that I'm looking for okay then you tell AI this conversation has been great
this is the exact type of result I'm looking for yeah I would like to create a custom AI in
addition to the things we have done so far today I will be asking questions like this this this and
this these are some things that I think could be a little bit more constrained in the conversation
you're drifting here here I don't want that okay you explain that to AI and you explained you
want to use the agent and it's going to be a bit more generic because you're going to be coming
back at the situation with different questions a different role you still want them to be the
personality you made have the understanding that you gave to them and they're saying you're giving
them the understanding okay and you want to be able to do that and AI will then write you say
write the code for me now let me explain some about code this is not see there's words we're using
that scare people if you're a computer coder you laugh at that because you know full well it's
not code it's text but again that's what we call it because that's what it's called inside the AI
space you're going to have a code which is just cut and paste text and if you don't know how
them it's like create custom GPT and fill out a form but if you're not sure what to do just say
now that I have the code walk me through how to create my first custom GTPT and it will tell
you it's very simple steps and you'll you'll set it the other thing you can do as you get more
experience and more comfortable with it look at the code read all the code this detail does it
might be and then modify the code like add to it like there's things you feel it left out go back
to that same conversation and say I have modified the code you just gave me I have added these
additional instructions please check it and make sure that it's written in a way that you will
understand what I want or rewrite it and always rewrite it by the way rewrite it based on your
understanding on this conversation to where it will work the best for you it'll give you that
overwrite your additions with it safe you now have a custom GPT I have a custom GPT that tells me
how to make really great awesome food using mushrooms that was as detailed as anything here that
I've used for marketing or anything else that's just one example I have a writing assistant that
when I am working on writing I don't want it rewritten I want you to find my freaking mistakes I want
you to break up my freaking run on sentences and I want you to keep it in my voice and style and I
want you to do it very very tightly I built it the same way so recently I somebody reached out to
me that happens to be a data cabling technician or some data cabling and equipment and in a truck
all day long and he said I tried to use crit it didn't know what I was talking about because it
requires all of that to work and if you're the person and I talked to you today by email that
reached out this is what to do and don't worry about how you do your job worry about how you
advance your career worry about how you build a better life for yourself don't just focus on the
career aspect focus on your economic aspects build a financial advisor based on your income your
goals your desires discuss to me build a health lifestyle and spiritual coach the same way
you want you want to do it with health I say hey go go keto Ken Berry says hey go carnivore and
you're like fuck that so you do nothing what if you could have custom assistance custom coaches
custom advisors that are custom tailored and fit to you that are designed to improve you by 2% per
month doesn't sound like a lot to you compound it over a year and you do it in eight or 10
sections of your life all of a sudden you're not just being a better employee you're building a
better model a better floor for your own life we'll talk about that more in just a bit
now here's another thing when you feel like I'm not really getting the results I want
take the conversation that you use to to build your first that agent okay put it in a document
explain your problem to the AI unit attach the document and say this is what I'm not getting
how do I modify this code and these instructions so that I'll get more of fill in the blank and redo
it until you get it dialed into what you're looking for there's also times though when an agent's
not the right fit agents are for kind of that advisory purpose sometimes they're good as an
assistant sometimes what you do has enough moving parts in it that you're better off with something
like a baseline conversation and a customized prompt and there's not a big difference in it
so for instance for me because I'm going to actually give you kind of an output from this in a
second that I did today to refine what I'm doing with preparing my show notes and all the things
that I do for my podcast before I actually click the button go now or live right there's so much
it has to be done I have to write the show notes I do that myself if I'm like not sure on something
researching something I use the internet you know just search lots of last day I get my show notes
written and now I've got my paragraphs and my bullet points that I'm going to present from I
drop that into AI and I start giving an instructions I won't get into the granular part of it but it's
very formulaic and very repetitive but this doesn't really fit crit but the crit mechanism can sort
of kind to be used and I'll explain that we're going to use some of the same techniques to get a
differential output here okay so what we're going to do with that is we're going to work through
misunderstandings until you get a conversation that works great I bet everybody here that's used
AI more in a couple times especially do the same kind of thing one day you use it and frick and hell
it just freaking is beautiful you've got everything you wanted it understood everything you asked
where he did everything the way you said you wanted it done the next day you think great I figured
this thing out you think you did the same thing the same way it goes kind of wonky on you
and it's like going off on side trails it's giving you said give it short explanations and it's
giving you Spencer read answers from criminal minds where you ask a simple yes or no question
and it's like well in 1957 professor so and so did this thing that related to like you're like no
no I want it the way I had it when you get one of those if it's anything you're gonna do again
you want to preserve it why go through all that shit again you finally dialed it and you finally
got it the way you wanted but it doesn't really fit so much as a custom GPT doing my show notes
doesn't because it's always different and I always have the same workflow and I'm less asking
questions and I'm more giving tasks and to me that's your dividing line there when you are
primarily giving tasks this method many times will be a better option and since some of the AI
tools do not have the ability to create custom versions of them this will let you do a lot of
what crit does with those tools that are you know not like chat GPT and that's the one I know the
most about because when I use the most and part of it is because I can do the customs but here's
what we do okay so work through all the misunderstandings and so you get the conversation to work the way
you wanted to okay at that point you tell AI this is exactly what I'm looking for when I start new
chats I want this performance as my baseline literally just type that out you can copy it right out
of my show notes today in the bullet points at the survival podcast.com episode 3824 if you're
watching live it'll be about 30 minutes to an hour after we're done that that goes up you could
copy that instruction right out of there then you say this write me a long and specific prompt that
will do that tell it I want to be able to to give you a prompt that you'll understand written by
you for you that will get me great this this kind of dialed in work map the work flow all of that
give it any special instructions anything else you want it to do okay you also make a copy
of that entire chat just highlight everything take control see throw it in word best practice with AI
when you're uploading files I found with giving it a document export is a PDF put it somewhere your
desktop a special folder for this so now you have the prompt in a document and you have a document in
the folder okay and that document in the salt folder is the conversation that led to the prompt
but they're two separate documents just so you understand okay and then you tell AI before it
writes the prompt I am going to make an into a copy of this conversation it will be a reference point
for you include that fact that it can refer to this conversation in the prompt you write for me
it'll write you a prompt it's a lot like making a custom GPT you're just asking it for it a
little bit different of a way and you're you're using it in the future differently you're not
expecting it already to be there you just want to make it really easy to get things running and flow
okay then you attach that document to all chats when you use the prompt so now I'm going to do
the thing again the next day the next week the next month I go grab from my folder the document that
has the prompt that it wrote for me I highlight the prompt hit control see I go over to GPT I go
attach document I attached that record of that first conversation that created it boom I dropped
that prompt you will have so much smoother easier better results it will blow you away when you
do that and now your workflow can accelerate so here's an example like I said this morning I was
doing this with show notes and I decided let's go ahead and see if we can improve what I have
done in the past I had an amazing result okay an amazing result today like every maybe because
the subject was ai it just under and I'm getting better I'm better at explaining what I want but
I had one little hiccup and it was when we started making images and that even we got through that
so I told I did everything I just said I told it I'm making a copy a document from this chat
to use as my baseline chat so that you will understand what I'm doing the future I want you to
write me a very specific detail long prompt of everything we talked about it and include these things
and it did I'm only a reporter because when I say long prompt you'd never write a prompt I wouldn't
write a prompt like this holy crap it's like a half a book but here's here's like the intro part of
the prompt you are assisting with a podcast double show show prep when I have already written the
show notes or most of them your job is to follow my lead exactly stay inside the task I assigned
and avoid trying to manage the workflow for me I would have never came up with that I would have
okay I'm going to keep going when I first drop show notes your only job is to read them do not
summarize them do not rewrite them do not analyze them do not suggest the next steps do not anticipate
what I want next simply acknowledge that you read them and wait for instructions do not move ahead
in the process on your own do not prompt me for the next step do not suggest what usually comes next
I will decide the order of operations every time and it keeps going like that and it goes down to
how we generate images like I'll read kind of the last couple things for you the chat where this
prompt was created is one where this process ran almost perfectly I'm attaching a document that
is a copy of that chat as a baseline reference for expectations tone pacing workflow discipline
and task education read that document as context for how the show prep sessions should operate
after reading it do not begin any writing analysis summarizing or task execution simply confirm
do you have read it and are clear on the baseline I will then drop today's show notes and we will
begin okay the entire dynamic of the interaction with the tool is different at that point and that
last part I just read you the reason I read it separately in spite of how clear I was with what
I wanted when it wrote the long prompt it did not include the fact that I would be attaching that
document so I wrote it the way I think it should be I gave it to it and it rewrote it for itself
then I appended it to that long prompt I can now go through my show prep notes and and do all the
work that I'm talking about inside of that plus putting it out on a social media and all that I can
do all of that shit using this process in about 25 to 30 minutes prior to doing that all of that
work would take me about two hours is it faster right we said that shallow thing yes but faster is
not bad is it better it absolutely is better it's better in every way because by it being faster
I have more time to prep for the show I get to show out earlier I can do more work inside my business
not less work because I am faster it is a skill multiplier in this situation because it's
using it's being used proactively and I am in charge that is so important to remember that you
are in charge in fact I want you to think about something today okay never use the term we when
you're talking about something you did with chat GPT or Grocker Gemini or Claude or whatever
never use the term we there is no we there is no other party involved when you use AI any more
than you would say we when you were talking about Excel or Microsoft access right or CAD if you're
using AutoCAD you don't say I and AutoCAD together designed the layout for the 15th floor of this building
you say I used AutoCAD to I used AutoCAD I used chat GPT I use AI to streamline my workflow
I use AI to accelerate my research I use AI to develop my own morning routine I use AI to figure out
my dietary schedule I used AI to sit up saying we we are so quick to use the term we
because you feel like it's a conversation it is a conversation but this is the trick if you do it
right the conversation is with yourself you're just bringing in knowledge elements that you didn't
have until the moment they were delivered think about that it's again we're shifting the dynamic
if AI knows all can do all be all then whatever comes out I'm just taking it's using me
and I am of no value to my employer if I cut and paste bullshit out of chat GPT
right and if I'm you know modifying it so it fits within our policy or regulation they can
probably hire some kid off the street for 20 bucks an hour to do that instead of paying me the
high-paid position that I'm in what what value am I adding if that's all that I'm doing if I am
managing workflow with a tool I'm as valuable as I always was or more so because now I can do more
do you really get the differential there and if you do not have this differential there is
absolutely no way you're going to be able to leverage the tool to its maximum potential and
you're always going to be behind the people that can the good news is none of this is highly
technical none of this requires you to learn C or Coball or PHP or MySQL right none of this
requires that you become a great technology operator unless that's your job anyway it becomes
running your own life managing your own life leading yourself if I were pitching this to a company
what I would ask them is how many people do you have let's say they say we have a hundred people
how many leaders do you have and they probably start like looking at an or chart and go we have like
a CEO CFO and we got their C level and then we got like these directors and then we got these
managers we have like 20 leaders okay would you like to have 100 leaders and when they look confused
I would say I mean obviously they're not going to necessarily also have people reporting to them
but would you like to have 100 people who are true leaders in your organization they are
true leaders in your industry they are leading themselves and proactively speeding up decision-making
processes responses to customers enhancing their own workflow conditioning their own performance to
be better based on what your company wants to see from them do you want that or not and again I'm
back to something where if somebody says no to that that would be a company I wouldn't work with
I wouldn't even talk to it like the minute I got that answer no we don't want that I'm sorry I can't
help you because you're not thinking right I would have killed for this tool when I was managing
companies I might not a quit I might not have become a podcast if I had this tool if I would have
been able to take every person in my organization and walk them through this process as it relates
to their job and their performance and enhance my corporate culture with this I would have probably
had a lot more fun instead of trying to push a string all if I'm getting people to do things
that they should have just done because they were paid to do them if I could create a system
inside an organization where people become accountable first of themselves everything gets better
if I can build better people in my organization my organization gets better you see how simple that is
the reality if you can see it and this is a huge thing the age of the computer model is here
but it's for everybody I want you to think of like your sci-fi brain it those of you that don't follow
sci-fi just try to imagine it you've probably heard pieces of it it's been in some tv show somewhere
the computer model suggests captain right like we or like somebody's going to do a surgery
it's never been done before the computer model says there's an 80% chance of fatality in this surgery
or there's an 8% chance of success we've run the models and the models together predict
x output and arrange if you're in there yeah everything I gave you today is computer modeling
for your life for your workflow for your schedule for whatever you want it to be
you're basically creating a predictive model using a predictive predictive text tool
with a huge knowledge base only if you are the captain of the ship only if you're using this as
I am using AI not we are creating it's not your partner it's not your friend
it's not even your dog I have a lot of affection for my dog I have zero affection
for chat GPT or jam and I or any of the other tools I use no affection whatsoever
but I see value in them is the tools that they are I look at them like I look at Excel
and I what I want to say is but I can do so much more with GPT than I can do with Excel
but if I think back to before Excel because I'm old enough that I remember that
and and and like we have like lotus one two three and shit and it just didn't have the complete
functionality and I didn't know how to use it yet anyway and I was having to do like manual
calculations on things when I was developing like a product model set or something like that
and figuring out like is this what we're doing and then once I learned how to use Excel
the force multiplication was massive and anybody that uses Excel for the types of things
budget analysis right developing a product set forecasting you realize like what that can do
once you build a model then you just chain and then everything changes it's so powerful
there's just that on steroids and with multiple or far more variables and not just numbers
not just plotting graphs it's computer modeling for companies if this is this is my
kind of blanket statement to companies in general that are looking at AI and wondering what to do
with it and what to do about it okay this is the value add that AI brings to your company and if you
if you take the wrong approach it it actually detracts from your company if you want your
company to stay where it is and have less expenses this path the bad path might work for a while
but if you want your company to be able to do more be more and have more value there's only one path
to take so here's the differential if AI can cut your workforce by 30 percent
it should also be able to increase productivity at 30 percent with the same head count
let me say that shit again if you're a company if you're a director if you're a VP if you're
a CEO and you're looking at your company is primarily made up of knowledge workers I'm not going
to say that some of those cost those those employees don't need to go by the way if you take this
approach they might self-deport I'm just saying okay but if you're looking at it just as a mathematical
thing then you're not looking at the value of the human capital you have in the company you're just
seeing like a piece of parts like I hire a level one analyst they're all the same if that was the
case you wouldn't interview any of them there would just be a level one analyst certification and you
could just point click and order them off a website they would ship them to your house right or ship
them to your company that's not how we do things in a company not a good company we want to know
who's working there and why okay we want them not only to be good at their job we want them to
fit the culture of the company all of those things so we value human capital at least on the surface
so let's say I walked into your business and here's what I said I have two magic
magic devices they're both free but you can only have one of them one of these will instantly
cut your expenses by 30% and everything else will stay exactly the same or I can give you this one
and it will increase your company's performance by 30% at the same current headcount and cost
that you have which one do you want okay I'm back to I'm back to if you tell me I would rather have
the reduction in cost in headcount than the improvement and the productivity of the company you've
already built find someone else to help you with that you're a minor I'm a farmer I like to build
and I believe of a company's not growing it's dying that's how life works on all entities whether
it's biological life or corporate life there's a growth period there's a plateau and there's a
dying period and the minute you plateau you have nowhere to go but death life business doesn't matter
okay and then for individuals hey I can either control you or give you personal agency
I want you to think about this if you were to do the things that I said today and just make one
personal assistant agent call it what you want to servant a week for the next eight weeks
pick the eight aspects in your life you most want to improve in your work and in your own life
you build one a week and you start having a conversation for five minutes with each one once a week
do you not think you're not only going to get better at the things that you want to get better at
find opportunities you didn't know where there start being more serious about becoming a better person
right but but not just that do you not see how that gives you more personal agency
do you know it gets left alone in a company and it's never harassed by their boss the person
it's always doing more than they're asked to it's always delivering
it's always like look I don't want to bother you boss but I literally have everything caught up
right now is there anything I can take off your off your plate for you right now
that person you might look at that person like if you've been program wrong mentally right self
programming the wrong way it's being like a company man or an ass kisser that's a person with
personal agency it takes some fucking stones to walk up to your boss and be like dude what else
you got for me oh what what if I got oh here it's all done I'm looking to help you now I would go
into my boss in that situation first asking is there something I can take off your plate is there
something you need worked on that you're running out of time on some way I can make your life better
if not I have I have three proposals two proposals one for whatever you come up with
of things we could be doing to move ahead with and right now I have a time to work on them
is it okay or is it one of these you would like me to work on and put it in front of them
here pick one
be sure AI I would like my three proposals framed as two sentence explanations each one
in a way that my supervisor who we've discussed repeatedly will understand and be able to make
a decision about I would also like a three paragraphs explaining each one separately and so if he says
well option one looks interesting here's more information on that do you see the differential
and you should also be doing things like asking your team of advisors like here's the standards
that I'm judged by at work but I actually want to be better let's create my own method
of determining my own performance and improvement figure out KPIs for me that's key performance
indicators figure out KPIs for me that I can use beyond what my company's using to judge my own
performance help me formalize a way to keep a track of that and then do it the last part you
you have to do it AI will spit it out you have to build the documentation and eventually you
might take that to your boss when you are being interviewed to determine if you get a razor
promotion and one of the things you can say is so I've been tracking my own KPIs with my own
independent system for the last 90 days these are the improvements I've made by the way since the
new job is actually a different job than the one I already had how good I am at it doesn't really
matter as much as the plans I have for the new role that I've been working on for the past six
months getting ready and anticipating the day that I would have this opportunity
if Steve's competing with you fuck off Steve you're fucked unless he's doing it too now do you
do you see why you can't ignore this do you grok a little intentional you know thing there right
do you grok while you can't ignore this because if you don't do it Steve's going to do it
like this whole inner office politics fighting rivalry this is going to kill it
what you're what you're going to end up with the company that gets it is going to have so much
talent it doesn't know what to do with it it will have two choices that company can grow to
accommodate the talent that it has or it can lose that talent the companies that do get it and
grow you're going to have to be a growth oriented you're going to be have to be somewhat
company corporate culture fulfilling in the future because the only negative to having people
that are deep personal leaders is if they don't see a way to move up across time they'll go
somewhere else you know what that's totally okay though you have a trition anyway I would rather
have a trition because I have so many leaders I don't have room for everybody that have a trition
because I'm a stagnant failing organization with no real leadership who's losing people who are
seeking leadership securing mentorship and seeking development what I'm talking about is becoming
a kind of company that when an employee talent is considering going to work for you they're not
just looking at the pay package they're going to look at that that's important they're not just
going to get the job description and the upward mobility in the company they want to know what
is your program for developing people in your company into better leaders in their industry
the kind of thing like a hospital tries to do attracting new internships and new medical
students to that hospital they build the program so that the best students want to go there
not for the pay but for the program that develops them law firms do this what I'm saying is
those elitist days of doctors and lawyers having a monopoly on this are gone we have computer
modeling for everybody computer modeling for the individual computer modeling for the company
computer modeling for the manager computer modeling for the CEO computer modeling for the
fucking guy that sweeps the floor at night assuming he wants to go anywhere beyond sweeping the floor
I've said a lot of tools if you had given to them to me when I was 25 I would have been a
millionaire by 35 you got to give me this at 25 I'd have probably been worth a hundred million
dollars by 35 if somebody explained it to me this way the thing is I wouldn't have known what to
do with it at 25 either I've spent three years learning how to use this tool here I'll give you
one more example of what I've been doing with it I've been working on my second book I have
my second book is Laws of Life 2 Laws of Life 1 had errors in it was going to get fixed anyway
but a lot of these processes were put in place prior to me really beginning authoring
LOL tool LOL2 okay code name and along the way I picked up and I'll be talking about this at
Nicole's at living free in Tennessee LFTN 26 in just about a month I picked up a new way that I'm
running my morning routine that put this together it's like turbo charging everything and when I
got done with the second book I looked at it I read it I started you know doing the proof
ring and editing before I threw it off the Laura who's now doing the final editing in it and I
said two things one there's things about this book that are so much better than the first book
I need to go back and I need to improve the first book there's chapters in the first book
they need expansion or more weight there's something don't need much of that just a little tweaking
but the other thing I did is I changed the entire formula for the chapters were the chapters open
with quotes and they close with a formula and an acronym like the aim formula or the hit formula
things like that they can be a formula they can be a filter in your life or they can just be a
way to review the concepts and really dial in what that looks like in action it doesn't have to be
young to memorize 32 frickin formulas but it worked really well then I give it this I called it a
chapter distil I actually came up with that by using a I to come up with it so instead of just
calling a review or something I'm like I want something that's you know different distil I'm like
I never heard that for great so every chapter then has 10 to 12 bullet points at the end of it
they kind of review the chapter like kind of like cliff notes and then after that just like
I had in the first book I had kind of like these code rewrites for your brain you know like never say
you can't always ask how turned into like computer when faced with something I want instead of
saying I can't have it ask how can I have it things like that I was just kind of playing with that
that was a little bit of captive a card thrown into look as I'm a sci-fi nerd and I looked at a
setting I got two in this one none in this one three in that one like so in the new book I put
three at the end of every chapter so I went back and I retrofitted that well that wasn't a place
for a custom AI assistant that was a place for the prompt and document situation I got it to do
what I wanted for one chapter perfectly and I did exactly what I taught you today I made a copy
of that as a document and then I had it I said I want to do this over and over again I have 16
chapters to work through this one right your own prompt just blowing through it like I'm like come
up with some ideas for a mnemonic right or an acronym or whatever and it like here's some ideas
and here's like what the words can mean okay I'll take that and I'll I'll turn that into a volume
like great now do the chapter to still give me like 20 lines I cut out half of them and I modify
them and fix them and that's just a review I don't need to write that it's fine today I does the
the bulk of that and then I'll take the codes that I already had move them to the end
and say help me find some more codes and usually what it puts out I'm not exactly in love with
but I'm like okay now I know what to do with that now and so I've been able to blow through the
second edition of this book I've been doing it for three weeks if one chapter to go and when
lore is done with the law of life one or law life two then that goes to her to edit and then I'm
going to be able to release the second edition and the second book almost on top of each other
then I have a true set do you have a long that would have took without these tools
let's just say you know I would have took if I had to do it alone I didn't say that I still did it
along and I'm going to tell you lore's work as an editor is going to be a lot less this time
because I'm like hey hey how should I fix this okay okay boom all right and then
you take that and you what else can you do with it so if you up till this point I've been thinking
AI is just a tool for shortcuts or to make pictures of pretty women I don't know dancing or
so you're not understanding the opportunity the opportunity is about becoming an operator with
agency over yourself and doing it in a way that up until now and I've been saying versions of
this since the very beginning of this only the rich could afford rich people have not just like
a financial advisor they have like an economic advisor that they can have conversations with
when they hear about something you know and I'm sorry your American Express financial advisor
isn't going to do that and most of the ones that are available to people that aren't worth
50 million dollars or more aren't going to do that either or they're going to give you generic
answer not tailored custom to you they also have people that that they rely on to improve their
health and their fitness and their their spiritual health their mental health I'm not talking
about turning into a therapist I think that's a bad idea a really bad idea but mapping it well what
will I do because what I do to get my mind right to develop my attention to develop my focus to
develop my internal mean leadership okay it's not what you're going to do you're not going to do
exactly what I do the way I eat is not exactly what you're going to eat the way I exercise not
the way you're going to exercise rich people have coaches that adapt to them they don't adapt to
the coach and they decide how fast they want to move I want to improve 1% a month 2% a month 10
percent a month whatever it is you have access to that now computer modeling a team of advisors not
an advisor a team of advisors you want me to consult for you why I've been replaced take my
$300 course for sole openers you get me plus in an infinite level of different deviations there
up you can do whatever you want and so what I want to end with what I want to end with here for
you fairly understand what's going on when I talk about kind of this end part where you're
developing a system for your own life when you think about Ray Crock oh shit we're back into
the 50s right McDonald's I don't understand how does this can if Jack just lost it
yet a brain cell pop from some LSD did in 86 right now now I way about what Ray Crock really did
that was innovative and disruptive making a cheap hamburger in fries is neither innovative nor
disruptive taking the Henry Ford assembly line and applying it to something far more simplistic
than a car applying it to a burger in fries mapping out the kitchen determining exactly how close
to put the equipment so that nobody needs to move any more than they have to but the guy next
he's not going to burn you with hot oil and until you had it like you send people in you test
model it and you have a and b in whichever one is 1% more efficient becomes the winner and you do
it again until you can't make it any better split that's how he did that that's a system
that's an underlying system we call that a floor and every time we split test the floor
and we improve its efficiency we raise the floor this is our minimum level of performance
not our optimum right not our best day not our best year not our best quarter not our best moment
this is our floor minimally accepted performance like a PT test in the military you passed
that's the minimum and if you don't pass your not here so we know that everybody's at least this good
okay that's a minimum level of performance and if we raise the floor and raise the minimum level
of performance we raise the the level of all performance across the gradient the best becomes
better when we raise the floor it's not a rising tide floating all boats that's the economy
gets better so everybody's no now this is intentional operational and installed that's how that
works since you probably don't work for somebody doing this yet do it for yourself install your own
floor what you expect from yourself what your routines are how you how you get in better shape
how you think better how you operate better how you focus on your career if your company is not
creating a place for you to advance then you figure out how to take that to the maximum that you
can do and then how to advance by going to someone who will let you advance okay put your own floor
in because just like training when we talk about like handgun training you do not you know that one
day that you work the range and you couldn't miss anything in a stressful situation you don't
become that person you become who you are on your worst day and if you happen to do better wherever
that is that goes better as well every athlete does this what I'm saying is this is so important for
people to hear because we're talking about personal improvement here people resist personal
improvement because they take the concept to mean you're not good enough where you are there's
something wrong with you that needs to be fixed there is no such thing as someone who's not better
by becoming better than they are the top athletes in the world hire coaches to make them 1% better
so that young up and come or doesn't take their spot on the team no matter how good they are they
always want to do better there is no public speaker who can't be a better speaker there's no
podcaster who can't be a better podcaster no entrepreneur they can't be a better entrepreneur no
father who can't be a better father no mother who can't be a better mother okay how good you are
and when we're becoming better we're in growth mode when we're looking for stasis we're in
plateau mode plateaus are finite you can't stay in a plateau we go into decline where do you go
the choice is yours with that I hope you enjoyed today's show if you did my wrap up today has
a couple resources in it for you that you can avail yourself of first I want to make something
really clear when I when I bring up when I'm about to show you here the things that we're talking
about today mostly you will not learn the crit is built into it and some other things but this
is not for personal leadership this is for building a business building a company that you already
have or if you have an idea for a business you're serious about you're serious above about it
enough to do 40 days of work for about 30 minutes a day to develop a complete plan for that business
how to market it how to explain it how to approach I mean you get messaging you approach approach
investor with how to how do you social media how to develop standard operating procedures in the
business so the business becomes scalable and sellable you want to learn how to do all that you
want to basically turn me into your business coach right your business consultant which
was what I used to do with Neil years and years ago I built this using my methodology and the
course is called become dangerous with chat GPT it's a 40 day mastery course for solo
partners and small business owners as well you can go to jackslaws.com right now right up at
the top of jackslaw you see a little banner at the top you can click that and there'll be a
form you fill the form out and the day that we put it on sale you'll get an email about 15 minutes
before it goes you'll know the time it will be emails in advance to say hey it's going to happen
but it's a race you only take 100 students per course in this and by taking 100 students we can
give you the attention that you deserve Tom and I work this together we drop your prompts and
instructions daily into a private telegram group you work them you work with other students you
come back with questions everybody supports each other the next day we do it all again 300 bucks
if you want in this is the only way you're going to get in you are not going to be like oh I
think I'll take that course some day oh it went for sale I'll buy it no I do it this way for a
couple reasons one it can get too big and then we can't really manage it too many people chatting
is bad the other thing is for it to operate the way we designed it it has to start on the same
day and everybody needs to be in the same place and so we have signups on a Monday and then we
start the next Monday and you get all the instructions you need to be ready between then and start
date with an auto-responsive email that sends everything out once a day so you get ready to go
next up today if you like my discussion about crit if you do not own this book yet if you just want
to know more about AI and better how to use it if you care about your future in your career and
you want to be better at what you do I would at this point in the age of AI call this mandatory
reading it is called the AI driven leader by Jeff Woods that is our item of the day today there's
a link again in the video notes below you can get over to the audio and you can read my review on it
and get your own copy and remember also you can always if you like what I do here just commit to
one thing for me I give you all this value I ask you to do this become a member if you want to but
above all when you're going to buy something online start at tspaz.com all my product reviews are
there whether you buy what I reviewed or not you help to show out thank you for that I didn't get
any questions that I saw anyway I was kind of full on into the speaking side of things I mean it
would be good to have like an assistant maybe to pull that out but guys I am passionate about this
not because I love it okay I am passionate about compost because I love making compost
and that sounds weird but I do I'm passionate about things like biochar because of what they can
do for us and because I find it interesting and it's a new thing to learn I'm passionate about
teaching because this is the thing that I was born to do as far as I'm concerned I'm not about
passionate about AI because it makes me happy every time I use it right I am passionate about it
because my job is to make sure you're prepared for an uncertain future that's what we do at the
survival podcast this is what we've done for almost 18 years now and I've got to tell you this
is like the same the same thing I said about Bitcoin you cannot ignore it it won't go away
and not participating even if you acknowledge it unless you're near retirement you can not afford
to do it and if you're an older person but you've got kids and they're coming up in the world
they need this whether you think you need it or not please take it seriously
and this would probably be a show that's worth listening to again I appreciate you all
for tuning in I'm one last announcement before I go as I was doing the two law of life books I came
up with an idea for a new book called North Star that's the codename of it for right now North
Star has now been deferred this weekend I generated a 24 chapter outline for a book on everything
and more that we're talking about today I'm going to begin writing that book by the end of this
week I expect that to take 60 days because now that I've done it a few times and now that I've
systemized it I've accelerated the performance that I can put out that type of acceleration of
performance is something you can do and again I want you to think differently about that generally
when you talk about people accelerating their performance they think first of all that means
on flawed know it just means you can be better that's all that it means that's and that means
when you're at the top of your game you can still everybody can be better okay and again that's
that's fine but the other thing people think is if it's a little tiny bit better it's not enough
people that are overweight if you say hey you can lose two pounds a month very easily like you don't
have to go radically you have to do just just do this it's really small step two pounds a month
and that's not it's 24 pounds a year rounded up to 25 then go get five tubs of five pounds
of butter and look at it it matters that interest compounds everywhere not just money and it
compounds to the negative and it compounds to the positive care enough about you your future
your life and your family and your career to commit to being one percent better minimum a month
and then build yourself a floor that raises by that much every month and you can't fail
because a rising floor increases the result every month take care guys i'll catch you tomorrow with another
and you'll never have to pay there's a better way to do this
let me show you a better way
you don't have to be another face in the crowd
you don't have to live the way it's here or you're too
take it out of the way
your face will follow
revolution is you
the revolution is you
