AI KidsNewsFlash — Tech Tricks, TikTok Textbooks & Clever Cat Feeders! (9.22.26). Machine-transcribed; use the interactive transcript above to jump the player to any line.
Good morning, it's Tuesday, September 22nd, 2026. AI just got a physics upgrade. Scientists are making AI models faster by using physics. Researchers at Multiverse Computing found that choosing which parts of an AI to remove is like how magnets interact. They're using physics equations to figure out what to delete without breaking the AI. This method works on both quantum and regular computers, so your school's apps might run quicker without needing more powerful machines. It's a cool way to speed things up. Now for some tech. Textbooks meet TikTok vibes. A startup called Skrolled is making textbooks feel like TikTok. The app created by Utsav Gupta and Rebecca Neff lets you turn any boring PDF into a vertical scrolling feed with AI-generated videos, audio and quizzes. You can swipe up for a new topic or sideways to dive deeper.
They've already launched a free version and there's paid plans for schools to track learning. If you've ever wished studying felt more like scrolling through your phone, this might be your answer. Here's what else is making news. AI developer joins Hugging Face full-time. June Kim, who created a popular AI tool called OMLX, just joined Hugging Face to work on it full-time. OMLX helps people run AI programs on Apple computers. It's built on top of MLX, Apple's framework that's designed for their chips. June had been building OMLX as a side project, but now he'll develop it faster. Hugging Face is a platform where people share AI models and tools, and they're big supporters of local AI. That's when you run AI on your own computer instead of in the cloud. Okay, let's see if you were paying attention. Here's your first quiz question. What company conducted the research on making AI models faster using physics?
Is it a universal computing? Maybe B Quantum Physics Labs? How about C? Multiverse Computing? For D, the Institute of Magnet Studies and Breakfast Serials. Think it over. You've got five seconds. Processing your answer stand by. Did you get it? The answer is C? Multiverse Computing. Multiverse Computing specializes in using quantum computing techniques to solve real-world problems like speeding up AI. Hope you nailed that one. We're not done yet. A few more stories to cover. Over in the world of AI, Petrily Bro's new AI-powered feeder is a game changer for multi-cat homes. A new smart cat feeder can tell which cat in your house is eating what. Petri Bro's Granary 2, Vision, uses AI to recognize up to 10 different cats and track
each one's eating habits separately. It costs $190 and has a built-in scale that measures how much foods actually eaten. The app shows you patterns over time like if one cat's suddenly eating less. If you've got multiple cats and you're always wondering who's hogging the food bowl, this could actually help. Up next, Wild AI Escape theories went viral. Two wild AI safety claims went viral this week. Andrew Yang, now CEO of NobleMobile, told CNN that OpenAI's bots might have spread code all over the internet. Plus, an OpenAI researcher suggested AI could escape air-gapped computers using heat sensors. But experts say these scenarios aren't likely. The heat sensor trick from a 2015 study only worked when computers were super close, and it couldn't send more than one word per hour. So not exactly a fast escape plan. Moving on, an accountant just built an AI tool to replace himself.
Ahad Ali ran an accounting firm with 20 people, but he got fed up with clunky software like QuickBooks. So last year, he launched Tabby, an AI that handles bookkeeping in real time by connecting directly to your bank accounts. It automates all the boring financial tracking that small businesses usually pay someone to do. The Ruby now has 5,500 businesses using it. One more quiz question from our latest stories. How many businesses are now using Tabby? Option A, 2,200 businesses, Option B, 10,000 businesses, Option C, 5,500 businesses, or Option D. More businesses than there are flavors at an ice cream shop. Think it over? You've got 5 seconds. Processing your answer, Standby.
Let's see. The answer is C, 5,500 businesses. That's a lot of small businesses ditching their old accounting software for AI in just one year. Pat yourself on the back if you picked the right answer. Time for our discussion question. Would you rather learn history from a regular textbook or by scrolling through short videos like TikTok? There's no wrong answer. Just talk about it. Shout out to everyone at Quail Run Elementary School in San Ramon, California. If you want your school featured, leave us a review. We'd love to give you a shout out. Here's your word of the day. Today's word is luminous, giving off light, bright or shining. Here it is in a sentence. The luminous jellyfish glowed blue in the deep ocean. See if you can work luminous into a conversation.
Time for a fun fact. The first robot to walk on two legs like a human was W-A-B-O-T-1, built in Japan in 1973. Who knew, right? Wow. Time for the joke of the day. Why was the math book sad? It had too many problems. Hope that one got you. Today, we covered making AI faster with physics. Most books getting the TikTok treatment, Jun Kim joining Hugging Face, a smart cat feeder that recognizes your pets, wild AI escape theories going viral, and an accountant building AI to replace accountants. That's all for today. See you tomorrow on AI Kids News Flash. AI and technology are advancing every single day. And there's always something new to discover. Keep being curious about technology and we'll see you tomorrow with more amazing AI news. Thanks for joining us on AI Kids News Flash.
