So you'll listen to the podcast after six o'clock. And we're live streaming on X in YouTube, X in YouTube is where you could go and watch. Okay, big program today. Excuse me. We've got Steve Hilton coming on after the five o'clock news.

Steve Hilton and five o'clock coming off the debate last night. We have Javier Bakaria. Four o'clock hour. We're going to lead off with a friend of mine, Dr. Jeffrey Klausner, an infectious disease specialist at USC Keck School of Medicine to talk about the Typhus outbreak. One of the largest typhus outbreaks this year that the city of Los Angeles has ever had. And the typhus comes from flea feces. Fleas that sit atop rats. The rats are in the homeless encampment, eating all the food and garbage that the vagrants leave behind. So the mental patients leave their food out. The rats come. The fleas jump on the rats. The fleas take a poop on you and or your dog and you got typhus, which is a really nasty thing. About 90% of the people who get it in this outbreak end up in the hospital. So that's that's that's exciting news.

And about a half an hour, we're going to have Alex Stone from ABC News on the the double botched execution in Tennessee. They tried to kill a woman a murderer named Chris DePike. They tried twice with lethal injection and blew it both times that she ended up snoring. It's supposed to kill her and they just put her in a snore state. So that's all ahead. Now last night was Hilton and Bacchariah. And I spent I listened to my guy on the drive home from work because the thing started at six o'clock for about, I don't know, 40 minutes to, I guess about half of it. And then I have seen a lot of clips since and I, Bacchariah is just awful. He has zero ideas. He is going to be over his head. He does not have any executive skills.

He does not have any intelligent analysis on anything. All he said over and over again. Trump. Do you know how many times he said Trump? 40 CNN reported it was their debate 40 times. He went Trump. No matter the issue. Now that's. That's not a plan for California. It's not like this is the mid 90s and we're sailing along with a dot com boom at a crazy good economy. This is there's a lot of trouble out there out in the streets. There's a lot of vagrants all over the place. There's $6.50 said gasoline that no other state comes near. There's the high speed rail bleeding us of tens of millions of dollars.

That there's all these excessive taxes. There's this massive amount of fraud for Medicare, Medicaid and all the other government services. And he had no response to any of it. Didn't acknowledge anything just would say Trump Trump. Trump. This Trump endorsed Steve Hilton. He used to work for Fox News. That's not a campaign. And I can't believe how many you know, I actually read some comments today in various articles, which I normally don't do because people who comment newspapers are more on. But the more I was saying things like, you know, I really would like a moderate Republican like Hilton. You know, there's a lot of common sense things he's saying. But anybody who's ever been connected to Trump, I just simply, oh my God. People are mentally ill. I'm sorry. Much of this state is mentally ill. You really are a childish. Look at what Hilton's laying out. I've never seen a candidate lay out so much detail for specific programs that seem to make sense to address a lot of the things that's gone haywire.

Most of the people in the state, huge majority says things are on the wrong track. Things are not good here. And they list what's wrong. And so you have one candidate who says, yes, all that's wrong. And here's what I do to fix it. And it's not pie in the sky stuff. A lot of this is common sense because a lot of these issues are self-inflicted. And you just stop shooting yourself in the foot. And in all the other body parts. And then the other guy is Trump. Now, I'm going to play a clip. I'll play you several clips today of the debate. This is one clip where the air Bakaria went dirty against Steve Hilton for being an immigrant. Play cut number three. Steve, you're running for governor of California and you'll enforce Trump's laws at the federal level. But you won't enforce state laws at our level.

California welcomed you into California. And you welcomed ice mercenaries into our state in return. How do you square that? You know, you're an immigrant. I have fought all my life to make life better for immigrants to represent them well, to defend them, to let them grow and build like my parents. But here's the problem I have with your policies. You seem to welcome immigrants who look like you, but deport immigrants who look like me. We need to have a governor who will protect everyone who works hard. I don't need to stand here and listen to you say that you'll enforce Trump's laws, but you won't enforce California state laws. You're not enforcing. And your party isn't enforcing. California law as it is now. And what a disgraceful remark that was. I don't think people want to hear that kind of remark in a debate like this. Why would you deport every farm worker in California? Why only farm workers? That's what you said. What people want to hear is solutions to their problems, not these unpleasant political attacks that don't help anyone.

Immigrant or not with the problems that they're facing. All of the problems that use to have no solutions to whatsoever. So all you've got is to talk about your word. Federal politics. All you ever say is Trump, Trump, Trump. And that's nothing but an insult to every Californian who is desperate for something to change in this state. And all you're offering is more of the same. Your words. Trump, Trump, Trump. Because he is your supporter. You chased his endorsement. That's all you have to say on every question. Because you just said it too. And your policy says everything. Because you've got nothing to offer. But California is the most of the same. Let's use your words. You said Trump's ice immigration policies in his raids were your words. Perfect. You said that every farm worker in California should be deported. Your words. That's simply not true. Those are your words. Again, because he's got no arguments. No arguments. Because he's got no arguments and no solutions.

And nothing to say about how he would change anything about how California is run. Do you deny that you said that Trump's immigration raids are perfect? All that he's got are these insults. Here's your chance to deny that you said Trump's immigration raids are perfect. But Sarah does what everybody in his camp has done for decades now. The people that were being deported. It's not because of the color or the ethnicity. It's because they were legal. Steve Hilton was a legal immigrant from England. It's like my dad was a legal immigrant from Poland. Nobody's touching legal immigrants. We had an illegal immigrant problem. And the vast majority of them came from south of the border. From Mexico and Central America. And they have been using and that was by design. They intentionally left the southern border open. To let Mexican illegal aliens and Hondurans and El Salvadorans into the country.

You're not going to get nor Norwegians and Swedes coming over the Mexican border. There was an issue at the Canadian border. There's not so much an issue at the airports on the East Coast with people flying in from Europe illegally. Much of the problem was at the Mexican border. So obviously you're going to get people who are largely Hispanic. And for God about 30 years, they've been playing that game to try to make it some kind of racist attack. That's where the illegal aliens are coming from. And whether if whether Hilton said it or not. If the farm workers are illegal, then they don't have a legal right to be here. You can set up a program for them to give them temporary status or work towards permanent status. But this and furthermore. Federal law supersedes state law.

This idea that Hilton wants to enforce federal law. Well, federal must be enforced. In fact, it's the feds who will enforce it for themselves. And they come here frequently and override all the interference from state and local governments regarding immigration. That's why we had all those clashes in Los Angeles. It's because state sanctuary laws are not a real thing federally. You can't have a state sanctuary law that overrides federal law. And Bicera keeps trying to sell this nonsense. Again, it's repackaged the same old crappy tired arguments that have been going on for 30 years. More coming up. You've mastered the classic wine regions. Now discover a hidden gem. The first line for Friday is 877 moist 86. 877 moist 86 usually talk back feature on the I heart radio app. So miss Steve Hilton coming on after five o'clock today. Uh, Bicera and Hilton last night and we played you the first clip where. Bicera basically in a coded in coded language queues. Hilton of being a racist that he approves of immigration for people who look like. And it was a real ugly cheap racist shot from Bicera. There were no content in his answers at all.

We're going to play you a few more clips and you'll see. It was he is counting and his if whoever crafts his campaign messages. Cause I don't think Bicera can craft anything on his own. As decided that the Trump name is so incendiary to so many people. You just have to repeat it over and over again. And people go blind. They go blind and they go deaf and they shut down all their senses, which is an incredibly stupid way to analyze all the problems here. We have incredibly high prices. Incredibly high prices when it comes to how. When it comes to everything from groceries gasoline. The gasoline is $250 and 50 cents higher than other states. And and Bicera's answer to everything is Trump. And you know, the moderators don't call them out on it. Hilton did. Here's an example of more cheap stupid slogans that Bicera was changing. This is about cutting red tape to make housing more affordable cut number two.

And the final thing I'll do is what I did when I was a G. I will enforce the law that requires local governments to build. Mr. Hilton. He hasn't explained how he would actually reduce the cost of housing. You have the highest. No, you didn't. You're not going to be able to do that. You're not going to be able to do that. You're not going to be able to do that. You're not going to be able to do that. You have the highest. No, you didn't. You said that you would cut red tape. Red tape. What's the track record that you've shown in standing up to the legislature in Sacramento when you were there as Attorney General. You did nothing to push back against the cost and the craziness of that legislature. You could make up the fact that you're going to get into that. You did nothing. Tell us one thing you did when you were in the when you were state Attorney General to push back against the growth of red tape on housing and everything else. Just one thing. Sure. I sued the city of Huntington Beach, Steve. That's a bull red tape. No, no, no. It's enforcing the law because Huntington Beach was not following state law which required it to encourage building in its community.

And so they were not following the law as Attorney General. I enforced the law and guess what? We won because Huntington Beach was denying permits. And we have to build. And no locality should have the right to try to stop all of our people in California from having the housing they need. Even Huntington Beach. We've got communities up and down the state that want to build but they're being stopped from building by the legislation, the regulations and the red tape that his party has put in place. And I said I would cut the red tape. Why should it? It's like your question. The definition of insanity is believing that the people who put the red tape in place and I'll somehow gonna cut it. The Sarah repeatedly had no examples. He just had bumper sticker lines. Because he knew he knows he has so many votes allegedly locked up that nobody could be swayed by any intelligent analysis.

And so the disconnect here between people being upset with the way California is run and voting for a guy who's made it clear he's gonna extend nearly all the news some policies that makes no sense. You get this guy in the eight more years of news some policies and you don't like the way things are going. Well, what's the alternative? Well, the alternative Steve Hill. It's Trump. No, it's not Trump. Trump has nothing to do with any of these issues. This is so incredibly frustrating. This is so childish that people keep repeating that over and over again. He's got nothing to do with it. If we're $2.50 more other states in gas prices, that's on our state government. That's what they decided to do. If we have the highest housing costs, that's on us for all the regulation that we have on the housing industry, all the environmental regulation that that that that jokes development.

That's on us. I just don't understand this. Makes no sense. This is a. I really went after Bessarra here. He quoted in this clip Susan Rice, another former Biden campaign cabinet person. I forgot what exactly role she played under Joe Biden, but Susan Rice did not like how the air Bessarra and Hilton recounts the story here. What I've never done is what you've done in your 36 years as a career politician, where you've never created a job. You've never actually had to make any money of your own. All you've ever done is spent other people's money in every government job you've had. According to your Democrat colleagues, the ones who worked with you, like Susan Rice, who worked with you side by side when you were in the Biden cabinet, she described you as an idiot.

She called you... Why did Susan Rice, a respected political leader, call you an idiot? First, let me correct a record. I have helped create millions of jobs. Well, during my services, I remember Congress in preserving the protects of first the state of California when I was attorney general, when Trump is attacking us. And as Secretary of Health and Human Services, I expanded health care to more Americans, which required more doctors, more hospitals. So, unlike what you've just said, Steve, the facts show that I have helped create jobs. But to your point, since when do I have to respond to politicians? I'm looking for governor of California. I'm looking for the vote of California voters, not some politician in Washington, DC. Does anybody out there have a job that was created by Javier Biserra for you? I love it when these guys go, I created jobs. Who's job did you create? Really, send us a message if Javier Biserra created your job.

We're going to play more of these clips coming up in the five o'clock hour because we have Steve Hilton coming on right after Deborah's news at five o'clock next. We're going to talk about a double botched execution in Tennessee of a murderer named Christopher Pike. They were going to kill the first woman in 200 years in Tennessee and they couldn't do it twice. Debra Mark, live the KFI 24. Go up power. Yeah, boy, she's a tough lady. She's tough. You imagine taking two execution attempts and her response is to snore. That's all that happened. You're listening to John Cobalt on demand from KFI AM640. Can't find AM640 more stimulating talk radio. It's the John Cobalt show. We're, we got a podcast coming out after six o'clock tonight. You want to listen to it in case you missed any part of the radio show that's going on here this afternoon. Now let's turn to Alex Stone from ABC News in Tennessee.

They tried to execute the first female in over 200 years. So woman in Christoppe. And I'll say right up front what her crime is because often the crime is buried way at the back of the story. But Pike was on death row back in 1995. She lured another woman into a wooded area tortured her with a box cutter, carved a pentagram into her chest and then smashed her head with a piece of asphalt and claimed a piece of the woman's skull as a souvenir. And so in Tennessee, that was considered sufficiently depraved to be executed now here. Wow, 1995. So we're talking about 31 years later. Is that right? Except the execution was botched twice. Lethal injection they attempted twice. And at the end of it, she still alive and snoring Christoppe. So let's get Alex Stone ABC News to explain this Alex explain this.

Hey, John, yeah, it went really wrong last night. And there's a lot of people trying to figure out what it was. And Christoppe, she got the two doses of the lethal drugs. She did not die. And at that point, the state corrections department called off the execution and called it an ambulance to kind of reset and figure out what was going on. And in fact, in the handbook of the Tennessee corrections department, it says if the first dose does not work, you give a second dose. And no way will somebody live beyond the second dose. Well, they had no guidance on what to do if somebody was alive after the second dose of this. And she was still alive. And this afternoon, her attorney, I'll let him say it. He put it like this. Christoppe is alive. Right now, we don't have a sense of her prognosis or much update on her health at the moment. And he contends that what happened last night was inefficient, obviously. But he says, you know, for any human that it was cruel and torturous, what was going on. So reporters who were in there as witnesses, as they typically are during an execution, they said that during it, she was asking if this was normal because her arm felt like it was going to explode full of liquid.

And as they were injecting her and then she went into a kind of a sleep state, but they could hear her snoring and kind of making a whining noise as she was snoring. But that she never died and she just kept breathing and that that's then when an ambulance was brought in and they took her away with the lights and siren going today. The governor of Tennessee says the people of the state have chosen the death penalty. He respects that, but he says they got to figure out how they're going to move forward with it and what happened last night because he went very wrong. The governor of Republican bill Lee, he is putting a moratorium on executions at this point where they try to figure this out. And they put it like this. The essay of hers and all executions under my watch. This is the end of the year going forward. So this is failed execution number two for Tennessee this year in May. There was an inmate that they failed after more than now. We're trying to get an IV in his arm and then it didn't work and they had to call that one off.

So the last successful one was at the end of last year after they've had these two failed executions. Now one thing that's surprising to a lot of people, John, is that doctors don't do lethal injections. Because of their oath of the AMA and other medical associations, they've ordered them not to take part in killing somebody. So anesthesiologists, those who would know the chemicals and how to achieve the end result and what's going wrong and then write and how to lessen suffering and whatnot. So this is done by prison staff typically. Sometimes they can find a nurse inside the corrections department of states to do it. Typically they won't be identified and they'll be, it'll cover them up so you can't see them because it goes against what they say that they're going to do as nurses as well. But except for a doctor giving the time of death, typically doctors don't play any role in this. You've got prison staff injecting these chemicals and seems in this case it was done very wrong. Why don't they go back to a firing squad? That works.

Well, I mean some states have gone that way. It's what Utah and Nevada that have now brought that in. I believe Utah has made that is one option for inmates as we've been covering cases there. It does work. Some states have gone that that route. It's not one that the Tennessee at least their primary means of doing it is chemical injection. But there have been years of the issues of getting the chemicals because the companies have made them don't want them to be used for this. So some states haven't been able to get them and carry them out. But Tennessee has the chemicals they just didn't go right last night. Yeah, I don't know why they keep trying this clearly. I mean this they've had lethal injection malfunctions in other states as well. And it leads to complicated court cases and I just go back to the old days. Yeah, well and now her attorneys are going to the state courts and saying enough is enough commute her death sentence. She you try to put her to death and you made her very ill but it did not work.

So go ahead and you know now she's been through enough. She you know that there's something even worse you could argue than being put to death. It's some ways they wait. They want her to go home. They're saying keep her in prison of commute just the death sentence part of it so that she would stay in prison and it wouldn't. Now I'm not saying they're not going to argue that you should get out. I think that's what attorneys always do. Yeah, but as of right now they're saying look when and if she gets out of the hospital, let her go back and and not be and go back into that death chamber and do it again. Is there there's no law that keeps them from trying a third time? Is there they could try again? Yeah. This point she has sentenced to death so they could try now. There's not going to be any executions in Tennessee for the foreseeable future because the governor has put them all on hold. But if they get to a point where they resume them and she could at this point depending on what the courts decide she could go right back into the death chamber. All right, very good. Alex Stone ABC News. Thank you. You got to thank you. The witnesses said that Pike was complaining about throbbing in her arm. My arm feels like it's about to bust. One spot is really throbbing and then they sent her to a nearby hospital and they gave her life saving measures.

So one hour they're trying to kill her twice and then when it didn't work, they're trying to save her life. A doctor on Pike's legal team says she likely now has a brain injury. That's I just I have zero zero care about how they kill her. As long as it's effective, I don't know why you just you know criminals kill people every day and they do it very efficiently. We all know how they do it. I don't know why we go through this drug injection routine. It just see. I mean, somebody also some people might on the inside might have sabotaged it and they didn't put the proper dose of what is it? Pento barber tall. So maybe this somebody on staff who says, you know, I don't believe in this and they put half the dose twice. And so that's why it kind of knocked her out made her snore. But she doesn't leave the planet. I got to reiterate what she did. What she did is she took a piece of asphalt and smashed another woman over the head with it and then kept a or a portion of her skull as a souvenir.

After carving a pentagram into her chest. I mean, I really I hate it. How at the end of these cases, everybody goes, oh, look at that. She's suffering. Yeah, she's suffering. Fly do buy that hijacker yes. And I'm sure you heard yesterday this this was the copilot of the plane and he pulled out a knife and was stabbing the main pilot. The plane had 174 people taking him to Israel. And the copilot the defense minister for Israel said that the copilot was committing a g hottest terror attack. He a fellow pilot says that this guy was characterized by very strange behavior, especially around religious observances that were out of step with his surroundings. For instance, he used to pray a lot and he would not shake hands with women. One of those. Yeah. Well, you women have cooties. And there are some religions that they don't want their men contaminated by I just ordered by female cooties.

You know that the cooties are not unclean. Fly do buy is a sister airline of Emirates Air. And which I flew on. Oh, that's the one you flew on. I flew on Emirates and fly Dubai. You really were living on the edge. I want to Dubai. And they and this this other pilot who was describing the jihadist said fly do buy had betrayed the Jewish state by hiring this guy. And there's no other way to put it. We hired the services of a terrorist and nearly caused the deaths of 180 people usually only Emirates. That's what you call people from United Arab Emirates. They're Emirates only Emirates fly to Israel because the UAE has official diplomatic government ties. The co pilot in this case is from Oman. Oman has no official ties with Israel.

And there is no way under their protocol. He should have ever been in the cockpit of the plane that was headed for Tel Aviv. And they don't know how he was able to be assigned to that because the landed Israel the pilots must hold passports from countries which have diplomatic relations with Israel. And so there's going to be investigation whether the United Arab Emirates breached its aviation agreement with Israel. This is a clear breach according to our transportation ministry source. And so they've suspended fly Dubai flights to it from Israel. And they are ramping up a security check on pilots. Every pilot that's going to be flying into Israel. We're going to know their identities. Know who they are and do some type of security check. They didn't do that before. Well, if they I would think they have done it, but somehow this guy somebody said maybe maybe he switched. He traded flights the way some people trade shifts at work.

And maybe maybe his colleague was in on it and pulled it off before anybody noticed. One more thing. The guy who subdued the hijacker was an Israeli plumber. Yana of hay on. He was the one who ran up to the cockpit. What an exciting scene this was because the co pilots trying to stab the pilot. The pilots on the ground. And from what I heard, he managed to open the door with his foot, which is unbelievable. That allowed passengers to come in and the lead guy was Yana of hay on. He's a plumber. And he saw, but the joystick, the stick that guides the plane. And so he grabbed it and like he pulled it up or pulled it down because the plane at that moment was diving. Yeah. 17,000 feet in two minutes. So he pulls on the stick and straightens out the plane. He has no flight experience.

He says, I just unclogged clogs for a living. That's all I do. But they asked him how did he notice? How do you know how to do this? And he said, well, I like to watch. I air disaster documentaries. And so he had a little bit of a knowledge of how a plane operates in the cockpit. And he knew that joystick was the, you know, basically the steering wheel. Because he watched sits at home as a beer, watches documentaries. You never know where you need that kind of knowledge. I think that's incredible. He saved the between the pilots foot and this plumber running in and grabbing the stick. But how did he know? What I what I'm wondering and I know we have to take a break. But how did they know what was going on? I know that the pilot opened the door, but maybe he opened the door just a little bit. Everybody know to come rush out that I guess because the flight was diving so far so fast. But he, he, you think they'd be alt terrifying being their belts or seat belts.

All these railies are in the military. They're all trained. Yeah. They got to deal with crisis. Yeah. They did the flight 93. No, I know. Yeah. Well, you see, Debra would have no reaction at all. So we end up with her. No, I would. Eric will be there. Eric. Okay. Eric's going to be there. Eric's going to be there. I'll be, I don't know about that. I'll be right behind Eric. I'd be cowering my seat with the seatbelt on with my head in the position. You know, the crash position. We got to take a break. Debra Mark, live in the KFI 24 hour newsroom.
