First though, LGBTQ plus history month kicks off today in Australia, Canada and the US. This has been a thing for more than 30 years and it's all because of a gay high school teacher in Missouri in America. Rodney Wilson didn't feel his history students at Melville High were getting the full story. My textbook didn't have anything about LGBTQ people or LGBTQ history. When it came to teaching those kids about net see atrocities in World War II, Rodney
thought it was important to share his truth. In March of 1994, during a lesson on the Holocaust, I simply mentioned there was a pink triangle. I mentioned that could have been for me potentially. As a gay person, I might have fallen underneath that umbrella of persecution. That was the way in which I came out to my students. Thanks to PBS, upside down pink triangles were sewn into the uniforms of gay concentration camp prisoners to mark them out for harsh treatment like torture. A big old backlash to Rodney's coming out made the national news with calls for his sacking which didn't happen. Despite the immense pressure, it was able to capitalise and all the attention. The upshot being a month each year dedicated to LGBTQ plus history ever since. Pride daily Next, a lifetime ban for the sore loser thug who broke the jaw of a gay opponent after a judo match. A carkey Japparidesay from Georgia was defeated by Germany's Timo Kavilius in Leipzig because
he wasn't good enough and tried to justify the attack with claims he was defending his honour. The German judo Bundesliga says he's kicked to the curb forever and is also facing other sporting and legal repercussions. Timo, who's an Olympian, can't fight again for two and a half months, so he'll miss the upcoming world championships. Pride daily And Brazil's general elections on Sunday with 529 out queer candidates running. That's about two thirds up on the previous vote in 2022 and includes 109 transgender or travesti hopefuls. Travesti sort of translates as transvestite but it's more nuanced than that. By sexual candidates making up most of the LGBTQ plus contingent on 176. We're also on your smartspeaker, command it to play the latest Pride daily. That's your lot. I'll see you tomorrow.
This year's girls trip to tell you where I was the best. We won up ourselves with my Sapphire preferred card and with five times points on Chase travel plus three times points on vacation homes with top brands, we got this incredible cabin. It was a mansion. And with three times the points on dining we ordered a Wagyu-Stake dinner and that pistachio gelato was too good. So where should we go next year? I've got ideas. Sapphire preferred. The card that's preferred for a reason. Cards issued by J.P. Morgan Chasebank and a member FDIC, Subdict to Credit Abruble, Terms Apply.
