Plights are resumed in the Northeast after ground stops were issued by the FAA for several airports due to equipment outages. The ground stops led to hundreds of delays. FAA Administrator Brian Bedford says the incident is another reason why funding is needed to replace infrastructure. This is why we're asking for budget to replace all of this stuff. This is what we refer to as FENT, the federal enterprise network. So today, the data architecture is the same. We're putting copper up and putting fiber down, but it's the same data architecture that we've had for 50 years. The FAA says fiber optic cables in New Jersey were cut by a construction crew at an off-air port site. That's what caused the outage. Even though flights have resumed, travelers are still being encouraged to conduct their airline regarding flight status. A Venezuelan man's in serious but stable condition after being shot Sunday by an ICE officer in Austin, Texas. The man's been identified as 28-year-old Wilbert Raphael Garcis Perez with an immigration lawyer saying he was an asylum seeker. The shooting happened as Garcis Perez was conducting a door-dash delivery.
Texas DBS officials say ICE had requested assistance in pursuing a blue Toyota Corolla, but the shooting happened before state troopers arrived on the scene. The Department of Homeland Security says Garcis Perez is in federal custody pending removal from the U.S. Week 2 of the NFL season is done with the Rams taking down the Giants 28-6 at home on Monday Night Football. Meanwhile, several teams pulled off huge upsets on the road in Sunday's action. The Saints, Raiders, Bengals, and Browns all came away with stunning victories. Week 3 kicks off in Green Bay with Jordan Love in the Packers, squaring off against Michael Penick's Jr. and the Falcons on Thursday Night Football. I'm Tammy Trehio. Colorado Congresswoman Lauren Bobert is pushing back against allegations she had affairs with multiple staffers, Chris Caragio reports. In a video posted on social media over the weekend, Bobert called the accusations a scam. This is more filthy garbage that reaches beyond me. This reaches into the homes of people who have dedicated years of service to Coloradans alongside of me.
The Colorado Times recorder reporter to sworn complaint was filed with the U.S. House Committee on ethics last week that complaint accused the Republican of having inappropriate relationships with two female staffers and one male aide. It also alleged a Bobert paid one of the staffers $200,000 to not file a complaint. I'm Chris Caragio. The State Department's warning Americans in the Middle East to exercise caution after the Iranian-backed Houthis attacked Riyadh the Saudi Arabian capital. The U.S. Bureau of Consular Affairs said the security environment in the Middle East remains complex with the potential for unforeseen escalation. The family that owns a majority of the New York Yankees is selling a stake in the team to a private equity company. Lizzie Radhibali has details. As part of the deal with Apollo Global Management, the Steinbrenners will reportedly hand over 16% of the franchise and a seat on its board for $2.6 billion. The Pinstripe's parent company was estimated to be worth over $12 billion, making it one of the most valuable teams in the league. With the extra cash infusion, the Yankees can now give out larger contracts to players on level with the Los Angeles Dodgers and New York Mets.
Private equity firms are only able to own up to 15% of any team and the MLB would have to grant a formal waiver or just its bylaws for the deal to be approved. In New York, I'm Lizzie Radhibali. It's Pumpkin's Pie season once again. The official start of Autumn is Tuesday. That's when the fall equinox occurs in the Northern Hemisphere. The old farmer's Almanac says the equinox will occur precisely at 804 p.m. Eastern Time Tuesday night. That's the exact moment the sun will cross the celestial equator. I'm Tammy Trehio.
