The Pipe Predicament - Episode 2

0:00Episode 2 now of the pipe predicament. The next morning brings a heavy mist that clings to the Devon Meadows. Farma Terry walks out to the pasture with a steaming mug of tea. He expects to see his flock, gla- glazing peacefully instead. He finds a small crowd of sheep gathered near the exact same drainage ditch. Every drops his mug, the tea spills into the grass. Ah, it's not possible. He rushes to the ditch, £220 of woolly stubbornness project from the concrete opening. Rambo is back inside the pipe. This time he is wedged even deeper, only his hooves protrude. Rambo, you absolute menace. Terry shouts pulling his phone from his pocket. He dials the station directly, Pete. You're not going to believe this. On the other end, watch manager Pete let's out a weary laugh.

1:03Don't tell me the mole is back in his hole. Worse, he has stuck tighter than yesterday, Terry says. Ten minutes later, the red engine roars up the lane. Pete and his crew step out, carrying extra bottles of dish soap in the set of heavy mechanical winches. He likes the attention firefighter, Sarah laughs, setting the gear down by the ditch. He likes the challenge, Terry mutters, rubbing his temples. Pete inspects the situation. The soap won't be enough this time. He is wedged past his shoulders. We need to create leverage. Sarah secures a wide canvas harness around Rambo's rear legs. She hooks the lines to a portable tripod winch system. Ready on the cranks she calls out? Easy does it, Pete instructs. We don't want to injure him. The winch clicks rhythmically. The tension grows.

2:04Rambo lets out a muffled, angry bellow. The echoes inside the concrete tube. Suddenly with a wet sliding crunch, Rambo shoots backward out of the pipe, knocking Sarah into the mud. The ram stands up, blinks at the firefighters. Let's out a loud, beleed before trotting away. Right, Terry says, looking at the empty pipe. Tomorrow I buy a giant wooden plug.
