Today is Tuesday, 22 September, 25th of Warden, Retime. As you begin this time of prayer, notice how you approach the Lord today. With warmth, desperation, or simply just a longing to be with him. Thee wills nun the Portus Gate, leaders in the prayer singing to be with Jesus. As he goes to see the Lord,

as he goes to see the Lord, as the last become the first, put me with Jesus. When he multiplies the feast, when the grave becomes the least, put me with Jesus. God had heaven in my call just to be with Jesus just to be.

When he lures the lowly high, here's the broken heart of the Christ, put me with Jesus. When he drinks a cup of tears, gracious Father, draw me near, put me with Jesus. God had heaven in my call, I will give my life to gain his all just to be. With Jesus just to be.

Today's reading is from the Gospel of Luke. Then his mother and his brothers came to him, but they could not reach him because of the crowd. And he was told, your mother and your brothers are standing outside, wanting to see you. But he said to them, my mother and my brothers are those who hear the word of God and do it. A very human situation here, members of Jesus' family trying to get some time alone with Jesus.

Luke doesn't tell us what they want, what is it that you imagine they might want?

Many have found Jesus's response when he hears that they're there challenging, even troubling. How do you hear it? I don't know. I don't know. As you listen again, consider how Mary might have reacted to all that has been said.

Then his mother and his brothers came to him, but they could not reach him because of the crowd. And he was told, your mother and your brothers are standing outside, wanting to see you. My mother and my brothers are those who hear the word of God and do it.

Finally, speak with one or more of the characters here, Jesus, his brothers, Mary, the crowd, about what you've noticed in the last few minutes and what it means to you.

Glory be to the Father and to the Son and the Holy Spirit. As it was in the beginning, is now and ever shall be, world without end. Amen. Amen.
