偉人たちは切磋する敵、琢磨する友によって偉大になっているのであるが、このような優れた好敵手、異業界のトップとの切磋琢磨によって、中村歌右衛門は磨かれたのだ。歌右衛門は「謙虚さ」を武器に、ライバルや友人から学び続け「芸」を磨き続けたのであろう。
