小島 勝平（こじま かつへい。１９３６年１月２８日−２００７年４月２４日。栃木県生まれ、１９５４年栃木県立宇都宮商業高校卒業後、実家の雑貨店を手伝う。１９６３年小島電機（コジマ）設立。「安さに勝るサービスはない」という経営信条を貫く。
「鼻は低く、志は高く」という人柄の滲み出たユーモアあふれる言葉をよく使っていたように、小島勝平は明るさと熱情をもって「安値日本一」という単純峻烈で強靭な経営理念で生涯を戦い抜き一代で売上げ「日本一」となったのだが、その後ライバルに敗退していく。カリスマ創業者が奮闘し急成長した企業のトップ交代の難しさと、創業経営者の悲哀を感じる人生のストーリーである。社長を退いた６０代後半から亡くなるまでの心境はどのようなものだったのだろうか。
