So let's prepare ourselves today to avoid these things in this game. I want to thank you kindly for swinging on through to make this year first. Listen, today we get to jump right into this conversation of Oklahoma State, finding a way to avoid being in this upset conversation once again. We've got maybe the most intriguing weight class in Cowboy wrestling to get to as well as

2:03a massive bedlam beatdown in an epic top 15 cowgirl W. But before we get to that, we have to talk about the Murray State game and what things could potentially pop up to end up being problematic for the Cowboys to end up making this game closer than it probably should be. Now, the obvious answer is do not underestimate Murray State, right? Just like we did underestimate Tulsa, we didn't show up as prepared as we needed to for Tulsa. Knowing even beyond just the general, you know, don't underestimate your opponent conversation, we better not underestimate their coach, Jody Wright. Jody Wright is not a brand new dude on the block. This is somebody who's been coaching for a long time. He played running back at Jacksonville State before getting his start at South Carolina's Italian's coach. Then he was with the New York Giants for multiple years before going to the Cleveland Browns as an offensive assistant. Then he went to UAB coaching running backs in the offensive line. Then he goes back to Jacksonville State to coach tied ends.

3:06Then he said Alabama as an offensive analyst. Then he said Alabama as a grad assistant coach. Then he goes to Mississippi State to do some coaching and after Mississippi State goes back to Jacksonville State and now has taken over the program at Murray State. He's given glowing endorsements in regards to Eric Morris, Oklahoma State, Drew Mestemaker, and the entire trip his team is about to make the still order Oklahoma. But in all of the nice cities that he is giving Oklahoma State, we don't need to underestimate his capabilities nor can we underestimate the remainder of his staff because if he has spent what four years in the NFL and four years in the SEC, he's probably going to have a decent amount of connections that he was able to bring along for the ride. Is Murray State where they want to be from a talent acquisition perspective right now? He's not, but he is going to understand the X's and O's. He is going to understand the landscape in which you can find yourselves giving a big 12 team a really rough time because of his 10 year old, all these other amazing stops.

4:08Secondarily pretty obvious. We talked about it as well with Reagan turnovers. If we find ourselves in a position where we end up with five turnovers, yeah, this game probably does get a little bit dicey, probably does get much closer than it should be. Is there any way to anticipate Oklahoma State committing five turnovers? Probably not, but things happen. We love this game of college football precisely because wild things happen and chaos is a weekly occurrence now. We just need to find a way to avoid being part of that chaotic nature. Number three, that we absolutely need to avoid is getting loose on our responsibilities. Murray State probably is not going to try to win this game head up, right? Our best 22 versus your best 22. While they have enough talent and Demetri Howard that can definitely make life interesting and Tyrell Campbell and Colin Shannon and Jim Ogle and Clayton Ingram, they've got more

5:08than enough from the talent department to make life uneasy for us, Oklahoma state fans. If we lose our responsibilities primarily in things like contain, they're probably going to try some reverses and some statue of Liberty stuff and some flea flickers to try to give themselves opportunities to end up with big chunk plays. That is what we have to avoid in the Tulsa game. We saw that our defensive backs sometimes had their eyes in the backfield with receivers running by them. That is something that we absolutely must avoid in this ballgame. We also saw in the Tulsa game that there would be one guy for a contain on one side and the other guy that was supposed to contain the other side was blasting in right off of the offensive lines, but and we were losing contain. Those are some of the little things from a responsibility's perspective that could put us in some hot water if we're not diligent and we don't stick to what we know is going to be beneficial for Oklahoma state in this ballgame.

6:08If you get confused, don't let the eye candy get to you, stay disciplined, stay in your responsibilities and Oklahoma state should be fine in this ballgame. How about just simply try not to get too cute. We've all heard the terminology, keep running it until they can stop it. We need to make sure that that is applicable also on the defensive side of the ball. For example, offensively, we just saw in a fell game where they tried the same play like nine times in a row and it was just like basically little flare screens to the left. I believe it was the giants. They just kept throwing little bit of flare screens out to the left to say, quen barkly and the defense never made adjustments. They use basically one play to go all the way down the field, run it until they can stop it, both offensively and defensively. If we send the house and ends up with an interception, don't be afraid to send the house again. Likewise, on the other end of the equation, if you end up dropping eight and they get no

7:13yards on the ground and we still get penetration with a three to four men rush, then just keep at the well. Keep going at what is working. Don't try to get too cute. Don't try to confuse the game plan. Stick with what works on both sides of the ball. And then lastly, the number five thing that we all need to be paying attention to, to avoid being anywhere near this upset conversation is don't play passive. Even if we do get into a rotational component part of the ball game, where there is a lot of second and third teamers out there, they need to be firing off the ball and playing with the same amount of aggression, intensity, tenacity, violence of action as the starters. So regardless of what the score ends up being in the first half, I don't want to see us take our foot off the gas, put the pedal to the metal until this game is so far out of reach that it becomes almost a criminal offense. And we've seen some teams request the fourth quarters be less than to eight to ten minutes.

8:18That is something that you would like to see in this ball game out of Oklahoma state. Not to speak disparagingly on Murray State, right? I think they are going to come in here, guns ablaze and throwing hands ready to make this a war of attrition to some degree, but we just cannot give them the opportunities. We've got to keep our foot on the gas. We've got to stick with what is working and not try to get too cute. We've got to make sure not to underestimate their talent and also not underestimate this coaching staff because they know good and darn well what it takes to win a ball game of this caliber against a team like Oklahoma State. And of course, win the turnover battle. Don't lose your contain. Don't get caught off guard by the eye candy. Don't let the fun gadgetry get you out of position and allow Murray State some big plays. If we keep everything essentially in front of us and we don't give up a ton of chunk plays, this should be a sound ball game and a sound win for the Cowboys

Wouldn't that battle with Dr. Sean Ross be absolutely epic with binmower situation? Maybe you know if he wouldn't have had to deal with this cancer battle, that would be a point of contention for Dr. Sean Ross to automatically win that spot. But with there being you know some questions in regards to some of the heavyweight positions, you look at like 125. Well of course it's going to be Troy Spratley's but not only is Rockland

12:33Zinkin back there to push him, but Ronnie Ramirez has flexibility at 125 and 133. 133, Jack's force of course, 144. Probably should be Sergio Vega. It maybe could be Jordan Rainey. But you know you would assume that Sergio is either going to be 141 or 149. 149 could be an interesting conversation. 157, gotta be landing, robadoo all day every day. Then we get to 165 pounds. Is this not the most intriguing battle that these individuals were going to have all off season? And it's a battle that absolutely has to happen. Iron, sharpens, iron. Now you have Casey Sversky going up from 149 to 165 to battle it out with Delock. But also let's not forget that Cody Rutledge is going to be here. Cody Rutledge is going to be a contender at this weight to push both of these dudes. And this is why this is the most critical for me. We need points. We need bonus points.

13:38If we're going to find a way to chase down Penn State at some point in time, it's going to be on the back of bonus points. Last year we had a lot of success. The year before we had two national champions last year, we had three national champions. This year you got to have four maybe five. And even if you do get to that four or five national champion number, some of the other individuals cannot finish outside of the All-American status like we did have happened last year. Delock is good enough to compete for a national championship. And as David Taylor talked about, the downside to D and what he went through to this previous season is there wasn't enough time for David Taylor to have a lot of fixes, right? Usually freshmen make the mistakes early so you can go to film, you can go to RTC, you can work with the seed Valencia's and the Dean Hamoney juniors of the world to overcome those obstacles. So that way you're cruising at the end of the year. Unfortunately, things went so well for Delock in the beginning that when he did hit that wall

14:39at the end of the year, there wasn't a lot that David Taylor and the staff could find in time to fix before the Natties. This year, whoever comes out of 165 is probably going to be the very best version of themselves and the best version that we've seen at 165 in a little bit of time. I know Camamene still out here having some success, but this is a very interesting weight class for the Cowboys. And it's a weight class that we must get bonus points out of. And this move for Casey Swiderski is probably exactly why we're going to get all American level bonus points out of this weight class. Because I think Casey Swiderski who's already proven to be an all-American, yes, it was on a different weight. But if he can now be more energized because he's not having to cut 15, 18-ish pounds anymore, that should be an energy factor that pushes Delock. Delock,

15:41its capabilities were never in question, but sometimes he would just lack the, I don't know, physicality or the offensive prowess to push his way into bonus points. And then Casey Swiderski, sometimes he's a machine that can't be beat. And then sometimes he'll get kind of lack of days go and he'll take his eye off the target and he'll get single-legged out of nowhere or ankle picked whenever he's just kind of relaxing for a second. Part of that could be the energy factor of him having to cut so much weight. So this weight class that we absolutely need, not only all American status, but if we can have somebody creeping into that top four from a points perspective and get bonus points along the way to being in the top four, then we can legitimately have a conversation about chasing down Oklahoma State. Like you could talk about 184, you could talk about 174, you could talk about Alex Bakundo and Bennett Berge and Lorenzo Norman, Zack Ryder,

16:44you could have those conversations, but I think Cody Rutledge is maybe what adds the X factor. Number 26, Frank Restler and the entire country before coming to Oklahoma State, one, two state titles in the state of Oklahoma. Like that's really hard to do. He was a U20 silver medalist. He won a bunch of different championships. I think he won the Fargo freestyle, 16 U championship as well. So he had a lot of success before choosing Oklahoma State, knowing that he's probably going to fall in a weight class that's either got Len and Robbado or DeLocket in it. And then Casey Swerski moves up. He's here to face adversity. I think Cody Rutledge is the type of guy that kind of like a binmour. If you're not paying attention, he can get you. If you're not on your peas and cues and you're staying dialed in the entire mat like Casey Swerski at times had difficulties with, Cody Rutledge can get you. If DeLocket

17:49thinks that he can coast with a minor lead, I think Cody Rutledge is good enough to push both of them to not allow that to happen, right? So you have a domino effect. You have Casey Pushen D, you have Cody Pushen both of them. And then you have D Pushen Casey. And now you have Casey at his natural way. And you have D with another year of experience and enough film now to know exactly what to work on and a room good enough to help them all get better. Let me know down in the comments section. Is there a different weight class that you think may be more stacked that may be more interesting or intriguing or important for the Cowboys to get enough bonus points to have high enough all Americans to seriously put Penn State in a position where they're at least sweating. I think we are going to close the gap. I think the gap that we close this year will be fairly noticeable. But you've got to have weights like 165. Not only get on the podium, but be top 34.

23:04cowboy hockey? And for not lack of trying, I have tried multiple times to get some like hockey individuals on the show, but you know, they're busy bunch and they're hard to get a hold of. However, we cannot gloss over the fact that a couple weeks ago, they put an absolute hurting and beating down in bedlam. The cowboys took out the Sooners 11 to three and a packed out, sold out crowd down in Tulsa for not having our own home ice and for not, you know, being an official NCAA designation sport still being in that club status. It is absolutely insane. Well, God's eye, Michael, man, have been able to do to pour in the talent that has come from all over the country to be part of Oklahoma State Cowboys Soccer or hockey. I think we're at a point now that we're good enough to play the legitimate D1s of the world

24:07and give them a run for their money. Hopefully this ends up becoming a sanctioned on campus sport at some point in time, right? There's still a lot of talk about having a on a bedlam on ice inside Boone Pick and Stadium or at least a hockey game on ice inside Boone Pick and Stadium. Sign me up for all of that. I want it. I need it. I absolutely love it. Of course, it being bedlam does make things a lot more interesting and fun to talk about, especially when it's 11 to 3 beat down of the Suners. I want bedlam football back to, but in the meantime, I will take whooping up on them in hockey, men's basketball, women's basketball, baseball, softball, right? Whatever, whatever sport we can find ourselves playing against OU, the more the merrier. I'm happy about it. And shout out, Calgaryl soccer. The preseason exhibition stuff was a little confusing,

25:12but we did bring in the number 14 ranked transfer portal class. And ironically enough, we just knocked off the number 14 ranked TCU, Lady Hornfrogs. And this is the first time since Oklahoma State has defeated the Lady TCU Hornfrog since 2017. And it's our first top 15 W since I believe early 2024, maybe even late 2023. The Calgaryls take down the Lady Hornfrogs 3 to 1 as the first game in the Big 12 to definitely take a very good pole position when it comes to the Big 12 race. TCU is a team in the Big 12 that is expected to play for and win women's soccer, Big 12 championships, which is why we haven't beat them since 2017 in any capacity. So Colin Connmarkle very well may have taken this top 15 portal class, turned it into a top 15 W to start Big 12 play that could catapult Calgaryl soccer back into contention for Big 12 title. So

26:15shout out to Bedlam hockey players that got it done rocking the orange and black, shout out to Calgaryl soccer. And I'm gonna put this thumbnail back here. That was pretty cool uniforms. I must admit Calgaryl soccer. It almost looks like the folds of honor kind of deal with the solid black and the patch. And I like that. I like that a lot. So glad we got her done.
