October 2nd, wanted. Have you ever felt like no one wanted you around? This might be a common thread through many childhood memories. As kids, we're often told to play by ourselves or make ourselves useful because otherwise, we just seem to be a bother. Even among peers and siblings, we may have been told we're simply a nuisance. Searching for a welcome heart and only finding rejection hurts. We all wanted know where wanted. To know we have value and worth in someone's eyes. If we don't receive it, we're thrust into the storm of an identity crisis. And only the truth can save us. Doris realized this after a long and difficult life. But she's here to share with us her true story. On this unshackled, daily devotional. I never had the ability to give a receive love because my own parents were indifferent to me.

We three shared one room in the outskirts of London and my folks often sent me outside to play just to be rid of me for a while. They sent me to Sunday school for the same reason. When World War II broke out, I quit school to work. After the war, I married a young soldier and we had three children. But my husband died of tuberculosis after which I had an ever breakdown. I gave up our two youngest children and tried to raise my oldest boy who was four. By the time he was seven, he too got on my nerves and I sent him to Australia. Eight years later, I married again and twins were born to us. But I had no love for anyone and the marriage failed. My husband took the twins with him when he left. Again, I spent time in a mental hospital. Then surprisingly, both my grown sons came home. The oldest boy spent long hours alone in his room. And one day came out and told me he was going to church because he'd given his life to Christ. I was furious, but I took a long look at myself and saw lonely old woman who'd never loved anyone. I didn't know how to love.

I went to church with my son and there I discovered how much God loved me, enough to send Jesus to die for my selfishness. His love opened my heart and I was born again. Jesus set me free. The Apostle Paul speaks of God in Ephesians 1 verse 4 saying, As he hath chosen us in him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and without blame before him in love. Brent, God chose us. The creator of the universe wants us and he sacrificed his son so we could become his. No matter what rejection we experience in life, this is the unwavering truth. It reveals our true value and the love we can have for others because of the love we now possess. So with thankfulness, worship and humility,

may we never forget how immensely we are wanted and may it transform us. Will you receive this truth today?
