There is one quarterback on this slate who completely changes what you can do with the rest of your roster. We're using him today. James, I don't know. I don't know. I don't think people know who this guy is that we're talking about. He's the stone minimum on draft Kings. We're going to use him today and see what kind of studs we can get in this lineup. There are some very high upside plays that stat likes today and we're going to get there. Via. Okay. I'll just give it away. James Winston. But we're really going to discuss like what the decision points are today with James Winston guys. Welcome into the DFS lab presented by one week season. We're glad you're here. I'm she's man. Your host. He is stat ATL as always guys. If you would not mind giving this video a like subscribing to the channel. That would be fantastic. The static by the way, this is the live from Granada, Spain edition. Stat, how are you doing my friend and join some some well deserved R&R?
Yeah, I think we were joking about it last week, but it's going to be the next couple weeks are on the road as well. So we will we will be in the UAE next week while we're doing our podcast and then Japan following week. So I'll try to have some chopsticks or some hot tea or you know, something ready for you know, our streams in the upcoming weeks. Yeah, man, that that should be fantastic. I'm excited for that already. I remember back in the day, John Madden, a rest in peace, he would have like his Madden cruiser. He would go around from location to location. Maybe one of these days once we really blow up, you can you can buy yourself like a bus that's like DFS lab was at ATL rolling through different parts of the world. I think that'd be good. I think that'd be good. That'd be good. Yeah. Any fading or or trailing thoughts on week two before we want to jump into week three and start looking at this? You know, a completely different week than week one scoring way down.
And so, you know, that's that's what makes DFS so much fun is that you don't know what the puzzle is going to look like and until, you know, the after the slate is is done. You know, I think we talked about leaning into paying up at running back last week. We built a we built a lineup with three pay up running back options. And in order to kind of big tournaments last week, I don't think there was a path that didn't involve JSN or you know, and or tomorrow chase. Like you basically needed to have to pay up wide receivers. And if you didn't build that way, running back didn't really end up mattering last week. The expensive running backs, he's on Rob and sent, you know, they just see him see was okay. I think he gave you like 22 points, but he was, you know, 8,000. So he didn't crush you, but he certainly didn't help you win. So you really had to pay up at wide receiver was was the puzzle last week. And that's kind of see what we think the puzzle is going to be this week. That's right.
Yeah. I said I like Jane Daniels. And you know, when it came down to it, that's who I went with for the lion share of my line ups. I played him in 60% of my rosters. I just focused on that game. I went with that press got the other four. It could have been actually pretty good except Jane Daniels got injured at halftime. So I knew that my day was basically done. It's been rough rough start to the season with quarterback injuries. I hate to see it. Jackson Dard was so excited to watch him on Monday night football. And then man, like very the second I tune in, I was probably the problem. It was me. It was me. I tuned in and he got hurt. And now he's out for the season. And I hate that. I absolutely hate that. All right. So you want to take a look at this slate kind of give I can give you a couple games and spots that I'm really at. And then you can do the same. We kind of will also just kind of tease shout out the first look because you'll kind of go through a quick little game by game snippet. Then we'll do this. We'll build this thing. Yeah. I like that plan. We got to, you know, I think that was something we did just off the cuff last last week and we got a lot of positive comments, you know, both on the video, but mostly in discord
and some messages. I think people would like for me to do that again this week. So yeah, let's, let's hear a couple of the games you like. I'm happy to give 15, 30 seconds on, you know, each of the games, how I'm seeing them, on, you know, kind of early midweek. And we'll go from there. Absolutely. Well, I mean, a spot that I like, it's going to be popular, but I don't think you necessarily, I think it's going to be popular. Maybe, you know, people are going to talk it up so much leading into the weekend that people are going to just get off of it. But a Baltimore Dallas is, I think is a game that I'm just going to try, I'm going to eat the chalk on that game, basically. And try to find ways to build it, you know, where it's maybe your circling game, but like potential outcomes of games that maybe people are not as, are not on as much. I think one of the popular builds, especially if Zay flowers plays will be like a Lamar Jackson Zay flowers bring back of CD Lam, I could see that being popular, but maybe people will not build as much with Derek Henry.
Maybe there are some different paths. This game could take one where maybe more production comes on the ground than people are expecting. I think if this game does hit just a lot of points. If you get a 34 to 31 shoot out or more, then there could be many different paths. This game could take as far as how the fantasy points are scored. And I think that's a game that I'm really going to be embracing. Last week I built all of my mainstacks around one game and just hoping this is the game that goes off. And I may do that again this week and just try to hit as many different scenarios that could potentially happen again. This game is in a Rio. So it's not, you know, their overseas or, you know, that is going to at least throw a little bit of a, a little bit of volatility into the potential outcomes. That's the spot I love. Of course I love Josh Allen. I think some way, like you need to account, I want to account for the bills offense in some way, shape or form. I like the idea of playing Josh Allen because it seems like a very, there's a very clear
path, at least so far to getting 35 plus fantasy points from a guy that is 8K. You're paying more than 8K a lot of times for a running back or a receiver and you're hoping for 30 plus and Josh Allen has scored basically 40 plus in two straight games. I do expect potentially some negative regression there. He's had a two rushing touchdowns per game in two straight games. So I could see that. And maybe the chargers don't keep pace and Alan doesn't really do have to do as much to keep up. So that's the risk that I see with that. I'll throw it back to you now. Any thoughts on like this Baltimore Dallas game especially? I'm curious what your perspective is on that one. And then if you want to hit kind of your summaries. Yeah, sure. So I do, I do like the Baltimore Dallas game. I think my interest in it will be heightened if Zayfowl is plays. Last week he didn't play.
The Ravens looked a little one dimensional. You know, or shot Bateman as wide receiver one. Not scaring anybody on defense. So I think to me, we need Lamar to kind of have his full complement of weapons. For this to be a game that I feel like I am excited to lean into. Mostly just because if you're building around this game and you're playing for that high scoring game. Let's just take the Dallas side. You're more likely playing with either pickings or lamb or Tavante Williams. And all of these guys are, you know, 6K 7K. They're more expensive. So you really need strong scores out of them. And kind of the same, you know, if you're playing around this game, you're probably building with Lamar. And again, at his price, you really need a really strong score out of him as well to kind of take down tournaments or like we take down a tournament on a 13 game slate. You know, generally this didn't exactly play out last week.
But generally on a 13 game slate, you will have some really high scores. You know, generally these larger slates are not one at, you know, 180, 190 point weeks. Sometimes that happens. More often than not, when you've got more games to pick from, you have to be closer to the optimal. You don't have to have the optimal, but you have to be closer to the optimal. And generally that's a little bit higher scoring of a roster. So to me, this is not a game that I love as much. I think when I did my first look for the slate, my overall thoughts were this was in either pay all the way up for Josh Allen because Josh Allen again has that 30, 40 point upside. But his stacking partners with DJ Moore, you know, out are going to, it's very straightforward. It's either you play with Dalton Kincaid who, you know, covers that onesy position at tight
end and isn't an outrageous price. Before you pay down and you play Josh Palmer, who's 3500 who will likely be filling that DJ Moore role. And again, you don't need a ton out of that position to kind of get there with Josh Allen. Because if you're playing Josh Allen, you're kind of hoping that he gets one or more scores with his legs. Like that's how he, when he puts up his 35 point games, when he becomes super Josh, he's scoring with his legs. So to me, that's how, if I was approaching it, that's how I would approach it. Or for me this week, it's kind of pay all the way down and it's go to James Winston at 4,000 because of what that opens up. And you know, we can talk about it when we get to the game. But just because you're building with James Winston, even if you stack him with somebody, Malik neighbors is a little bit harder, even though I do really like Malik neighbors. And if you go, you know, let's say you go, John Almooney, let's say you go Isaiah likely,
either of those two guys with their price point, basically you're saying, okay, I've got 9,000 taken up between those two positions. If I can stay on that 225 point pace, so if I can get, you know, 38, 40 points out of those two guys, I'm standing on that pace. I'm freeing up a lot of salary to lean in and kind of play some of these really strong on paper plays. And you don't have to be getting 30 points from James Winston. You know, he doesn't have to keep up with Josh Allen because the Josh Allen builds are going to have a much harder time leaning in and playing some of the guys like Jemier Gibbs or JSN. Like those type of builds are going to be very hard to make. Like Josh Allen, Jemier Gibbs, JSN lineup. And so even if Josh Allen goes for 35, not necessary that you're going to have to have him. If you can get, you know, James Winston to give you a stronger kind of point per dollar,
you know, score. And the studs that you're paying up for also give you those, you know, those 28, 30, 35 point games because those rosters are going to be too hard to build with Josh Allen. So I think today we're going to lean into paying down a quarterback and seeing what that opens up. Yeah. Yeah, I absolutely agree. And you know, you discuss Winston there. Any sense from you at this point, it's impossible to predict. But you know, we're going to be looking at this. Your people will be watching this on Thursday around lunchtime. Do you think people are going to play Jemier? I mean, we've all been on the Jemier Winston roller coaster before he could be, I don't know what if the giants are going to sign it back up or who they'll have available for to be his backup. But if things are going poorly, he could get pulled at halftime, but at the same, on the same token, he could legitimately throw for 300 yards and three touchdowns. Like we've seen that version of Jemis as well. Yeah. I don't just because again, it's a, it's a 13 game slate.
So you've got 26 quarterbacks to choose from. And you, you know, you have Josh Allen, you have Patrick Behalms, you know, you've got the, you've got Lamar Jackson. We've got that Prescott, like the names that I don't want to call them more casuals, but the more comfortable clicks, almost all on this slate. So I, I think that helps keep Jemis's ownership in check. I'm not in the ownership, you know, game. I don't like to predict that. We've got, you know, a great staff of one week's season who does an awesome job with that. I'll be happy to take a look at what, how they're seeing it, you know, later in the week. But just quarterback generally gets really spread out at ownership, certainly on these large, or full, you know, full 13 game slate. I don't, I don't see him getting out of control. I would be shocked if he was, you know, 20% or more. That would, that would be surprising to me. Yeah. Yeah. Honestly, it would be very surprising if he was close to 20, even over 10%, I think, would
be surprising with the other names on the slate. Okay. So, what are the other summaries you wanted to hit before we kind of jump into this? Oh, yeah. I mean, I think that there's, there's a couple of games that, you know, kind of stood out to me. I got to get a little closer to the camera just because again, I'm doing this from a, doing this from a phone. You know, I, I really liked, uh, doubt, excuse me. I really liked the New York Jets. I thought that was a really intriguing game to build around. I don't know that the field will be willing to embrace leaning into the Jets, just because there's the Jets and people don't feel comfortable playing the Jets. Um, but, you know, if you go and check out my first, my first look, which will be updated later in the week is just kind of, you know, some final thoughts will be when we can link it up in one of the corners. Um, I, I really enjoy leaning into like Kenyans to Deek this week. You know, we got Mason Taylor, you know, the more veteran tight end for the Jets, uh,
gonna miss the game. I think that opens up more opportunities for Steak. And, you know, the Lions have allowed four touchdowns already to opposing tight ends. I think that's something the Jets are going to see. They want to get there, they want to get to Deek into this game, you know, they use the high draft pick on him. And so I, I, I kind of like that, you know, I think one of the ways that I would attack this slate would be to play two Jets and then run it back with, you know, I'm on Ross St. Brown, run it back with Jemir Gibbs. I don't think that you have to build, you know, full game stack to play any of those guys, but that's how I would if I was kind of attacked this game. Love that. All right. With that, are you ready to, uh, to jump into this build? So yeah, let's, let's definitely, yeah, let's, let's start with James Winston, man. Let's throw him, let's throw him in. Um, and so I think the interesting discussion around James Winston, um, in this week is I think what will people will, will say is I don't think that James Winston can score 25, 30, 30 plus points this week.
And the argument that I will make is what I do think he can, um, but I don't know that, that he needs to. And so on this build in particular, I really want to pair him with Isaiah likely, you know, in my first look, I talked about Isaiah likely. I talked about Darnell Mooney. I, I really highlighted Malik neighbors as I thought was a really sneaky play this week. But let's, let's fill that onesy position. Let's throw in Isaiah likely. Uh, you know, we've, we've spent 87 hundred here and covered our two onesy positions. And so what I think when you look at this, I don't think that you have to tell the story here, that Tennessee who on offense has really struggled all year. I don't think that you have to tell the story that Tennessee is pushing the giants here and that the giants are scoring 40 points in this game. And that's why you're leaning into James Winston. Like I think that the giants can win this game 21 to 10.
And James Winston throws for 200 yards. You know, he maybe he adds 20, you know, 20 yards rushing. He throws for two touchdowns and whatever that math is, eight, 10, 18. He scores 18 points. And, you know, Isaiah likely, you know, goes, you know, whatever it is, you know, six for 75 in a touchdown. And he gets you another 18 points. And I think that that could is easily accomplished. And the giants win 21 to 10. Like I don't, I don't think that you have to get a blow up score out of those guys. I don't think you even have to build this lineup saying the Titans pushed them. Mike, the Titans could totally fall flat and James Winston could still easily pay off his salary, keep you on that 225 point pace. And so that's how I want to build this game. I don't want to have a run back. I'm not, I don't want to bet on the Titans. The Titans can't, I don't think the Titans really have a play a little piece on their roster right now. So yeah, I tend to agree with you there.
So I think now that we've kind of, we saved this salary. But let's jam in some studs here. Like what does this open up for us? And to me, when I look at the slate at the running back position, Tamir Gibbs is the best play on the slate. So let's, let's plug him in. I don't even know that you have to have a jet. You could, you know, I'm having the correlation and saying, maybe we lean into Adonai Mitchell. I kind of like that actually. Let's, let's play with Adonai Mitchell here. You know, kind of their deep threat. And again, a guy that can more or less pay off his $4,300 salary on one play. You know, the long, the long touchdown, 60 yard touchdown. He gets to 13 points almost pays off his salary on one play. 60 yard long touchdown. He's their deep threat. I like what I'm seeing out of him. You know, the jets are. Allowing him to kind of show, show off some of his skills that I don't think we saw
as much in Indie, you know, in years past. So I do really like Adonai Mitchell here. And again, this continues to give us a little bit more flexibility in this roster by playing, you know, another pay down piece in Adonai Mitchell. So I think from here, where I'd like to go is the best on paper match up wide receiver, which is Jackson spent in the jigba. Again, another expensive piece in 8600. But this is a guy averaging 40 points a game. He is drew locks safety blanket. It doesn't seem to matter what the score of the game is. They are just feeding JSN. So I have no problem going right back to him here on this type of a build. I think we've we're going to have to get a little bit different on some of the other positions because I do think one of the things to keep in mind is if you're playing if you're playing James Winston, you're saving salary, you're going to have money for
studs. So you want to be conscious of the fact that we I don't want to build the same exact type of roster, the same type of construction as everyone else. So let's do something a little bit different here. And let's fill that RB two slot with chase brown. Chase Brown continuing to kind of see workhorse type roles 20 plus touches. You know, he's getting the opportunity. I do like what we're seeing here. I I know it's a divisional game against Pittsburgh. I think that this is a spot where the bangles just crush the Steelers. So let's lean into chase brown. Let's pair him with the bangles D, which I don't know that I think that that's going to be a very common parent. It may be this week again. We're doing we build these shows on Tuesday, Wednesday nights most of the time. So it's so hard to predict what ownership will look like. I'm end of the week. But yeah, let's go chase brown and bangles date. So what does that leave us left for salary?
We got about 5K a player left and some room here. So I think on these two last spots, I want to lean into some of what I think are some of the better situations this week. And one of my favorite one off type plays is Josh Downs for the cults. You know, I think the Texans do offer a difficult matchup. I think that Jonathan Taylor is going to really struggle. You know, Houston held both James Cook and chase brown who both saw strong heavy usage to 12 fantasy points or less. So I do think that the Jonathan Taylor type is not as much of a smash play this week. I think he struggles. And I think with the surgery, I thought maybe it's not surgery, but Alec, Alec Pierce is going to miss this week still dealing with that heel injury. This really just opens up the opportunities for Josh down.
So I really like him here at 5700. And then I think the last spot, I think that leaves us in the low 4K range. I really do like leaning into this new Orleans game. And I really liked Devon Bayley. I've said this now for like three straight weeks. I will be playing Devon Bayley. Like I am a believer in the Saints offense. I know we built with Tyler Schuck last week or two weeks ago. We built we built a roster around Tyler Schuck, who has done nothing, but averaged 275 yards and two or more scores in every game. And he continues to still be at 5400. I think that he's an interesting spot this week if you want to go that way. But let's grab a piece of this new Orleans offense with Devon Bayley. Awesome. That will wrap up the build from stat ATL guys for those of you listening on the pod. The lineup we did finish with going with famous James there at the quarterback position. 4K stacking him with Isaiah likely. And then fitting in to high end pieces,
Jameer Gibbs and Jackson Smith and Jigba JS and of course, Chase Brown at the other running back. Fidding some one offs of Adonai Mitchell. Of course he's correlated with Gibbs there. Josh Downs and Devon Bayley finishing out the build. Also did at Bengals defense paired with Chase Brown. Stap any final thoughts, man, before we. Now just hoping to see those OWS penance of tops of leaderboards. And thanks for thanks for dealing with us with some of these audio audio challenges this week. That's right guys. Thanks for thanks for bearing with us guys. Thanks for tuning in. And as always, we hope to see you guys at the top of the leaderboards this weekend. We'll see you guys.
