For many people, renting is a convenient option. It offers flexibility and may require less responsibility for maintenance, but only the home can offer a different set of long-term benefits. Instead of paying rents with landlord each month, homeowners are investing in a property that can potentially increase in value over time. That means your home may become an asset as you continue to live in it. Home ownership can also provide more control over your living space from decorating to renovations that really fit your lifestyle. And here's something that many people don't realize. There are education programs and financial assistance options available for first time home buyers. Some of these programs even offer grant funding that may help cover part of the upfront cost and grants typically don't have to be repaid. That's why learning about home ownership options can be an important step toward making the best decision for you and your family. To learn more, visit toolsforhomeownership.com

You ready to play some sound over there, Flounder? Oh, yeah. All right. OK, good to you. I believe you. It's time now for the live wire with Flounder. All right. Well, we got to start with some moments from the show because we have had a week here on this show. I mean, of course, it started early in the week, which by the way, one of the takes, I'm not going to play the one, but one of the takes does not seem like it's going to end up being right because that's right. This guy, he ain't playing. So he said, I'm playing this week. He did that in a later one. That is not happening. OK. There you go. So. So Caleb Williams out for sure this next game. And we don't even know if Tyson Beijing is going to play because he had a concussion earlier this week. Yes. So that's right. Speaking of group of six quarterbacks that you remember, the most successful somewhat argue in terms of just pure stats,

case kingdom is the guy that is going to get the start. Speaking of guys that you just cannot get out of the league, case kingdom just keeps collecting them paychecks. I love the backup QBs that exist in that space for 20 years. And we have, I mean, 50 snaps total. That's not necessarily the case. Four case kingdom who had the miraculous season with Minnesota, the Minneapolis miracle connecting with Stefan Diggs against the Saints down the sideline. So an amazing moment. I guess kind of helping us out here in Carolina beating the Saints the way that they did. Marcus Williams just completely whiffing on this to find digs tackle case kingdom. Still in the league, not as a starter, but still getting those checks. And then you wanted this pulled from earlier because you had an exchange with Willie that was interesting. Name, he named all three players. One of them clearly the one that Walker wanted him to repeat. Uh, Willie didn't pick up on that. I'm sorry. Can you say the last name again? Schnegg. No. That's a tough moment.

I already, I think I already forgot the name. Is it, is it zinc? No, go zinc or no, go zinc or no, go. I feel like I'm committing an FCC violation. I don't know if I'm doing that or if I'm naming a type of cookie or if I'm saying something else dirty, I just don't know what I'm saying when I say that last name. Schnegg. I, how did he think that was the name? That's a sitcom. Great name. Great name, but still it's a fine name. You know, Schnegg, no, you can come up with a couple of nicknames for it. I clearly wanted the other one. I wanted Zinker Noggle. I didn't want Schnegg. Right. And then a listener pointed to this moment that we got to figure out what happened here. Last one. Halapeno pepper popper pelagic is what happened at the end. I was excited. It was spicy. Okay. All right. Interesting. Who does that sound like? Woohoo. It's the, it's the owl from the Tootsie Pop commercials. Oh, nailed it. A one, a two, a three. Yeah.

That definitely sounds like the owl from the Tootsie Pop commercial. But I was just saying it because of how spicy Willie came in, man. You're talking about he was firing. You guys don't understand. There's a lot of stuff happening before we hopped on the mic. I mean, just 10, 15 seconds before we turned the mics on, Willie was taking a flame thrower to a bunch of different subjects. And that's why I said it. He was, he was full of all the gasoline ready to roll with that flame, that flame thrower. It was pretty crazy stuff. All right. What else you got? All right. Let's get to some serious audio here. Brad Idzick talking on Thursday. How have you helped open up Bryce's downfield passing game, new offensive coordinators? It's a group effort. So it's a lot of investment we've had with the skills over the last couple of years. A lot of investment we've had with Bryce over the last couple of years of concepts and understanding what kind of space we're trying to attack. And then, you know, as the game plans unfold, just me and him talking about, hey, here's our spots to take our shots. Here's our spots to take advantage of some of the space, the defense we think is going

to give us. And he's done a great job of capitalizing. So I commend him of opening up that dialogue with me and being receptive to all the teaching that we've given him in our system the last couple of years. And then for us, it's just about that time on task with a skill group that's now been here with him, you know, and developing that trust for, hey, this is how we want to attack him. This is what we're expecting. And then it's a beautiful thing when the defense presents how you kind of present it to them in the meeting room. The guys start to believe in the, you know, the plan of attack and then they're playing fast and aggressive and we're getting more opportunities to do so. So Walker, male, who do you give more credit to for the success that the Panthers have had passing down field in the first two games of the season? The quarterback or the OC? I'm going to go with the offensive coordinator. Oh, all right. I'm going to go with the offensive coordinator. It doesn't take anything away from Bryce Young.

At least I'm not intending to take anything away from Bryce. You need somebody to be able to call those opportunities downfield in a way that I guess Dave can Alice wasn't doing and or they didn't have the protection to allow Bryce Young to throw down field. So I do think that Brad Edzick is mixing up the play calling really well. I think that there is a nice balance here. And that doesn't necessarily mean that you have 50% run, 50% pass. You're balancing what your looks are depending on what the defense gives you and they don't know what kind of play you're going to run. The run looks like the pass and vice versa. You're unpredictable. I think that's the kind of balance that I'm seeking from Brad Edzick and maybe they are a little predictable in that they're throwing the football quite a bit, but it still isn't stopping what Carolina is doing. They've gone over the 30 point mark against a couple of different defenses. Chicago week one, they played very well despite the defense not playing well. And then against Atlanta everybody played well. They even have left some points out there on the field. And I do wonder if the running game is going to become a little more efficient.

Chubas been efficient. The running game overall hasn't quite as much. Well, you stop holding. That's right. Stop holding. Just stop drawing the flags. Please stop with the penalties. The offensive line hopefully cleans that up. But I really like what we're getting from Brad Edzick and Bryce Young taking advantage of those opportunities as Brad said. Look, we've not done a whole lot of criticizing Bryce nor should we. He's been very, very good to the first two weeks. He looks excellent. I will say he's mistrows against Atlanta. I don't know if he really missed early, early, missed a couple. Yeah. I think against Chicago, if you really wanted to nitpick, I do think he missed a team at on that fourth down conversion attempt where he just sailed the ball a little bit. That's where team at got the OPI in my opinion or excuse me, defensive pass interference. It should have been called right. Bryce didn't. I wonder if maybe that wasn't called because it wasn't all that catchable of a football who knows, but I think that they missed a flag on that play.

I do think against Atlanta, Bryce missed a few throws. There are some stats out there about a bunch of yardage that team at is leaving out there on the football field because of uncatchable passes. It seems to be team at that is getting the uncatchable targets from Bryce young. Jalen coaker is getting the easier one. He is getting some easier looks. So clean that up a little bit, but I mean, nobody's perfect. If we tell Bryce to not miss those throws, now we're asking him, hey, can you go be the most perfect quarterback that's ever lived? I don't need that. Give me this every single game. I have no problem. Do you play like this? I'll give you 60 million dollars a year. As long as you continue to play like this, he's been very, very good. Interesting. Interesting. All right. Let's go to Jalen Phillips talking about turning his pressures into sacks. Really taking advantage of my ops when I come to you know, I'm not going to get into specific of what I've been crafting because I don't want the other chances to see it. But, you know, I think I've been in the right place at the right time and just taking

advantage of those ops is, you know, it's briefly as a past pressure. It's kind of hard because you could do everything right. It's just, it doesn't fall your way. You know, something happens. Play goes the other way. Quarterback is the ball out. So, when the opportunities do come and you have a lab in front of you or you have, you, you know, when and you finally have the quarterback in front of you, you've got to get them to the ground. You know, in the past, I've missed a lot of opportunities. I missed a lot of sacks and so, you know, I'm on my revenge to it. All right. So, when you asked earlier about this is when so and so steps up, some people said this is, took it as this is when so and so better step up. And there were a lot of people that said Jalen Phillips said, Hey, we need to see a two sack performance in this game. A tackle for loss on top of it. Maybe two is this the game where you think it starts to really click for Jalen Phillips. I mean, really click means he gets home a couple of times. Right. Right. Because he's had a sack in each of these first two games, which is exactly what we had talked about all off season. You go back to last year. He had five sacks total is already 40% of the way there through the first two games.

He's on pace for 17 guys. That's pretty good. That's what we wanted. And if you're asking for more pressures, if you look at what he's on pace for right now, as long as he plays every single game, he's got seven pressures through the first two weeks. If you just average that out, I mean, you're talking about basically 70 pressures overall. That was about what he had last year between Miami and Philadelphia. I'm fine with the way that he's playing. If you want to point to the contract and you want to say he's making $30 million a year, he should be acting like close to what miles, he should be giving us what close to miles Garrett is giving us what is what Nick Bosa could give us if he was healthy. He just got hurt. Actually, we just found that out today. Oh, it's a yearly ritual man. Real shocker for the Nick Bosa injury news, a tradition that is annual. But I'm fine with the way that Phillips is playing. I wouldn't call him dominant. Maybe that's what happens here. I look more at Derek Brown. I think Jalen Phillips has been more impactful. So far than maybe what Derek Brown has, I think he was fine against Atlanta.

I thought he was bad against Chicago. I thought he was fine against Atlanta. I'd like for him to just remind everybody of who he is. Maybe we get one and a half sacks. We get a whole bunch of runstups. Yet eat up those gaps and get looked like Larry Allen with one offensive lineman on one hand and one on the other. That's what I would like to see from Derek Brown for him to remind everybody that he's one of the best players in football. Hey sports fans, Dennis Robbins talking with you.
