Dianji, East Coast Radio.
It's East Coast Radio, happy Wednesday afternoon.
The name is Dianji, and for Danny,
we're hanging out till three.
And every single afternoon, during your lunch hour,
we always have an interesting conversation
that extends through the afternoon.
And now we're sticking along and hard about this one.
So if you follow East Coast Radio on Facebook,
you would have seen the question,
but I want to post it out to you.
In a world where all of us,
every single one of us thinks of an opportunity
of how you can make an extra income.
What are some of the ways?
These days, more and more people are realizing
that one income stream isn't always enough.
Some people starting side hustle, small businesses,
passion projects, sometimes after work,
sometimes even on weekends.
And for some, that side hustle eventually becomes
the main business.
So today on the show, we want to hear from you,
what made you start your own business,
or side hustle?
I'll give it to you again.
What made you start your own business,
or your side hustle?
Because your story could inspire someone today.
That is why we are asking the questions.
So if that is you, share with us your story,
send it through as a voice note, 06179294N5.
What made you start your own business,
or side hustle?
Was it a necessity?
A passion you wanted to turn into something more,
or maybe you just saw an opportunity and went for it?
Your story could inspire case at end.
This is what you had to say.
Hey, do you want to see how are you?
I'm fine on this side.
Oh, I'm Tabila Mulefe from Chesterville.
My business is babysitting.
I love that business.
I started that business.
It was 2022.
Now it's five years, and it's nice.
I love case, they're loving me.
Hey, J&G, hope you're well.
So back in 2010, you had probably hit the monkey from home.
And then when I was working properly,
so let's come back to work in 2021.
I ended up doing a live club with my car.
So from my car, I ended up getting a seven-seater.
Now I ended up leaving work and started
creating my dad's life as a full-time.
And now I'm doing business.
And he's working on much better.
Wow, those are interesting stories.
Here are a few more from Case at End.
Hi, Dion.
My name is Seon, and my company's name is Durban Knife Sharpening.
I started it late last year, following a passion I've had
for 30-odd years since I first joined hotel school.
ML Sultan, and I fell in love with the knives,
and Knife K, more than I did with the rest of it.
Hi, Dion, it's Althea.
I worked in the corporate industry seven and a half years ago.
I was outraged and I decided I'm never working for anyone ever again.
I saw the cleaning people's mattresses being a single period,
needing income, sole provider.
I choose, later, the successful company called Contra Cleaning,
and wouldn't look back a day, any day.
It's the best decision I've ever met in my entire life.
And, yeah, go for it.
Reach for your dream.
If you've got a dream, go for it.
I love the inspiration coming through as well.
So thank you for that.
If you'd like to share yours, drop a voice note, and give us.
Hi, Dion.
So I started a side hustle with my best friend,
because we both have flexible schedules.
We both love jewelry, and we both love spending time together,
and it turned out to be quite successful.
So we get to earn some money while spending time together.
I highly recommend starting a side hustle if you are considering it,
because you will never know how successful you will be unless you try.
Hi, Dion.
My name's Ashen.
I'm from Chatsworth.
The reason why I started my own business is that I work for
a shipping and logistics company on a corporate level.
I actually was, they sales manager,
and I started a new division for them regarding shipping.
And the moment my division was up and running,
my executive comes to me, and he tells me that I need to pay him tax,
and that he needs something on the side for me to keep my job.
Yet I opened the division for the company.
So there was no way that I was going to take my 20 years of experience
and pay somebody tax to stay in my job.
So now I just started my own little small business
that I'm assisting people that I've met over 20 years in the business
to do the right thing, and obviously get the best out of your work.
Rachel, good afternoon.
Katie, I'm Hi.
I'm great. Thanks a new.
Thank you.
OK, where about are you from?
I'm from downtown.
Ah, you know what I love about Pintown?
What's that?
There's something special about Pintown for me,
because whenever you come to Pintown, there's a feeling of happiness
because for me, right?
Sunlum Center will always have a special place in my heart.
Always.
Yeah, that's where I do that.
Pintown, Pintown.
Wait, what's Pintown Center?
Yeah, I don't know what it is now.
What is it now?
Pintown.
OK.
Yeah.
I haven't been there since the 90s.
I'm trying to be changed.
Oh, OK.
We'll take your word on that.
Right, Rachel, if you have an interesting story to share,
the mic is all yours.
OK.
Yeah, so quite a few years ago, 14 years ago, actually,
I was given an opportunity to start my own business
with the help of my partner.
OK.
So, yeah, it's called Rachel Yannter, kitchen cupboards,
baking cupboards.
We do furniture, wallpaper, all your interior,
cooking, all of that kind of stuff.
And I'm very good at this, and I was so tired of working
for other people, and making money for them.
So, yeah, we decided to not let's go to the chat.
And 14 years later, we are still going strong.
What would you say is your secret of success?
We're a card.
No matter what is happening, you just
need to work hard all day, every day.
We're back to your kind of time, let's see.
And yeah, I mean, service is really good.
That's a key.
You have to get this service, and then where does now
it will just stop spreading to everyone.
Well, Rachel, I must say, your story is quite inspiring
because many people give up after some time.
It doesn't really work out the way they wanted to.
And I think the legacy you've started here,
I can already hear it coming through.
So, big ups to you for starting your dream journey.
And I'm sure now you don't look at it as a hustle.
You're looking at it as a lifestyle.
Yeah, I mean, since our living, and even my partner was on
in 2018 and he joined me, so now we are working together.
Wow.
Yeah, so for him as well, I mean, I'll call it a company.
And then he decided to join me.
Oh, so yeah, it's been brilliant.
OK, since you've shared so much about yourself, right?
I'm going to give you 10 seconds to tell us
what is your company name and your details.
We don't normally do this, but we do this for you
because we want to show you love.
So, tell us, in 10 seconds, you have a 10-second
advert starring, Rachel, it starts like this.
Go.
Hi, my name is Rachel from the two interviews.
You can contact me on a Q-1, Q-3, W-6, W-1, 8.
And we will help you relive all your furniture.
OK, and are you all on the socials as well?
Yes, you can contact us on Facebook.
Instagram and with an Instagram.
Oh, it's the other one.
Yeah.
Yeah, and it's all under Rachel, the interiors.
OK, thanks a lot, Rachel, for dropping us the line.
Have yourself a great afternoon, right?
Thank you.
You too.
Thank you for the chat.
No problem, take care now.
Dion G, least coast radio.
