Voice of your business.
Welcome back.
Good day, Shell.
Dean Douglas.
Joe Gileo.
It is the start of legal tampering.
As news comes down,
we will react to it all in the NFL,
including, of course, the Philadelphia Eagles.
And what they have going on with four major free ages,
the AJ Brown Trade Saga,
which I think will win for Howie about 20 minutes ago
when Alec Pierce stayed with the Indianapolis Colts.
And of course, all the jail and Carter stuff,
would you be open at trading them,
Eagles reportedly on Saturday,
according to ESPN,
we're taking calls on jail and Carter.
I'd be open to it.
Hugh Douglas would be open.
Kyle doesn't want to trade jail and Carter
really under any circumstances.
Where do you come down?
215-592-9494-R-Hugh.
Couple of pieces of news before we go back to the phones.
Kenneth Walker,
the Super Bowl MVP,
is leaving the Seattle Seahawks
to go to the Kansas City Chiefs.
So Kenneth Walker is the Chiefs,
feeling on that one.
That's pretty good on the big red in those guys, man.
How little plan is Super Bowl?
Well, it's interesting that they haven't,
I guess since Pacheco got hurt a couple of years ago,
he hasn't been quite the same.
They really couldn't run the football at all last year,
even before the end of the season,
and my home's getting hurt.
They just, they weren't a good running team.
At times it felt like the game we played against them,
my home's felt like they're best rushers.
So I'm not surprised they attacked running back.
It sounds like the Kelsey thing,
not fully done yet with the Chiefs,
but reports he's going to go back there
and they're going to get Kenneth Walker.
So the Chiefs active to start free and see.
Hugh, the other thing
that caught everyone's attention last week
was the Rams trading for Trent McDuffie, right?
The Chiefs traded McDuffie the corner away
from Kansas City to Los Angeles,
but over the weekend,
the Rams gave McDuffie a new deal.
Do you see this money they gave him?
Four years, $124 million deal,
including 100 million guaranteed,
which now it makes him the highest pay corner
in NFL history.
So we have now gone above 30 million per year
for the top corners.
And as soon as I saw this,
I thought about one year from now,
Quinion Mitchell and Cooper DeGene.
Yeah, they're going to get paid.
You know, so I was thinking about in this whole thing.
The Kansas City Chiefs traded away a pro-boy corner
and went out and got a running back.
That's great.
Are you trying to take a victory lap on this?
No, no, I'm just saying.
I'm saying Ravens traded two ones from X-Crosby.
No, no, what I'm saying is you're talking about a team
who had a whole lot of offensive woes last year.
You know, and they went out and got a running back.
They couldn't throw the ball.
They couldn't run the ball.
That great.
So they went out and got a running back.
They let a corner go,
an all pro corner go,
and went out and got a running back.
So that's interesting.
Yeah, I mean, the Chiefs seem to do this a lot
where they will move on from a player
that is really good.
Like Tyree Kill was great,
and they've moved on,
and now they're kind of doing it with McDuffie again.
But it does make you wonder,
how much money are we going to have to pay
Quinion and Cooper?
Yeah, it does.
Because you know, corner's man.
Especially when you got a good one.
But here's the thing,
we were kind of chopping it up this morning.
You know what,
Quinion potentially is going to get.
Well, 30 is that new number.
30, it's humiliating him.
But Cooper's the one.
Because Cooper's the anomaly.
Because you can make an argument.
Cooper's agent can make an argument
that he could play corner.
But he's a slot corner.
And you know, he's not going up against the number one.
But he has a potential too.
So you're going to have to try to appease him
in his agent on that matter.
I think the Cooper one's going to be hard.
I mean, I could see a Senate.
Can you see a scenario where he asks for way more
than any slot corner ever got?
The highest pay saw corner ever in life.
Yeah, but I and like not even just like buy a little bit.
Like he could try to reset the market in that position.
And there's also a direct line of correlation.
Like from the minute he got on the field two years ago
and let's assume their defense is good again this year.
That the defense got better.
Yeah, like he's the difference maker.
He's like the linchpin.
He's the wild card that makes the defense go from.
Yeah, this is all good.
But then him in there against the Ron and the passing.
I mean, if I'm his agent, it's an easy sell.
Like, hey, without this guy,
you guys don't have what you think you have.
And the Eagles could justify it by saying they view him
as a future CB two.
Like not slot guy that he'd eventually move out.
Yeah, because it doesn't.
I can't get behind giving him actual corner money in the slot.
Do you think we get to a point here that I thought about you a little bit
in your career?
Because you correct me if I'm wrong.
When you were at the Jets, right?
And then parcels comes in and they have you move from like an outside
I'd rush they wanted you to play more inside.
And that didn't seem to be what you were comfortable with or wanted, right?
But also you and I don't know what was in your head then.
But I'm thinking over from your best way of getting paid
after you've done your first contract would be sacks.
Yes.
If you stayed inside, you're going to get less sacks.
Yes.
So do you think?
Do you think when it's surprised you have this summer,
we start hearing Cooper wants to play outside?
Would it surprise me?
It all depends on what the conversation is.
Because I would think if he plays outside, he can make more money.
But I will say this because there was some speculation
and there was some talk about Cooper playing the corner spot.
Last year.
And weakening the slot position.
I think that they think of him as that.
So I don't think it would be that big of a,
I think they think he can play it so it wouldn't be an issue.
You know what I mean?
So now it's the money.
It's what type of money you want to play.
And I think that with the Eagles doing what they do,
they're probably compensating.
I don't know if they're going to give him starting like corner money.
But they're going to, they're probably making him one of the highest pay
slots in the history of the game.
I can see that.
I could see that too.
I would just wouldn't surprise me.
Every time Cooper talked last off season,
we had him on a couple of times.
He just kept saying, I'll play wherever they want.
Yeah.
And it sounds like you can't.
It's very, very smart, young man.
Very, very fair.
Totally.
And he's been a total different speaker.
I just wouldn't be surprised if this off season
we start to hear like, I'll play inside,
but I wouldn't mind playing outside.
Like if they wanted it, like, because that's where the money is.
That's where it is.
The outside corner market is now moved to 30 million dot 31 million
per season for the top player.
So the McDuffee thing certainly caught my attention.
215, 592, 9494.
Back to the phones here in a second.
Any interest in Zach Erts out there?
DeGon saying, no, no.
So no reunion with what's that hurts?
Yeah, as I said, as much as they love and respect
them, DeGon's have no interest in bringing seconds back.
Yes.
I had my eye on in Joku after what Elliott told us last week
that the Eagles have interest in David and Joku from the Browns.
If we get a player today, I think it's going to be David and Joku.
When Elliott threw that out there, it really made me think
that that might be a thing they really want to prioritize on day one.
Let's go to Big V, Mount Laurel, up on WIP.
What's up, Big V?
So really, I don't know how you're doing today.
Big V, what's up?
Man, you.
What's up, man?
Wonderful thing on those U-clues,
although they're no longer a power couple, but still work.
Yeah.
They were a power couple.
One of the most famous power couples.
Yeah, and I'm surprised the day that I'm agreeing with Kyle like 40%.
What was that?
He said he agreed with me 40%.
Oh, that's a lot.
That's a lot.
Yeah.
Yeah, yeah.
Oh, yeah.
Look, let's look at this.
Let's go with the jailing card thing.
First of all, you don't get rid of generational talent
unless there are three reasons.
One, closing team made sure it offered you can't refuse.
Two, they want to go desperately or three.
They're a problem with them staying.
And you look at the Eagles history, you know,
where we went to the Super Bowl, didn't, didn't win,
came back that next season.
How he was like doing his wheels and deals,
traded all those defensive guys that we loved,
and got all those young guys in.
Everybody was crying and we end up, you know,
having, we end up going to next year to the Super Bowl and winning the Super Bowl.
Yeah, you know, after they imploded that year.
So you look at this year, we go to the Super Bowl,
we, they implode, you know, we got some trouble in the locker room.
If jail is a problem with the locker room, you know, this,
you know, there's some people interested in trading.
You could be, you know, how he say, look, Jalen,
we could give you another chance and you stop all that stupid childish stuff.
Or, you know, you could go.
I think that could work.
But in terms of, you know, the guys that we got,
you know, the Eagles tend not to keep guys that, you know,
for very long because they get very expensive and they like to get them cheap
with talent and, you know, coach them up to be superstars.
So, I mean, that's, that's it.
And, you know, and you look at, this is how he sees him right now.
You know, he's probably willing and dealing.
He's got two phones, you know, one phone in each hand talking
and making some things happen and looking at who he wants to pick up in the draft.
So, I'm not worried.
Generally, after a failure year, the Eagles tend to come back very strong.
They do. And then they tend to make swift changes.
They don't just run the whole thing back after a failure.
Exactly. That's what I love about him.
That's why I say, you know, how he's got this,
got this franchise ready for a dynasty.
So, you know, I mean, we're, we're, we're on that pace.
All we got to get is a few key pieces, you know,
and stop having this love for these,
these players that we've had for a long time.
I know it's sad to see some people go, but hey,
gotta go, gotta go.
Well, and that's, and that's the leak.
It's a salary cap leak.
And, and you got to make tough choices.
Big V, we appreciate the phone.
I mean, you, when I, when he says something like, you know,
some guys just got to go because of the salary cap,
that's the Kobe, right?
Like, right now, I think it's fair to say today,
and the Kobe Dean is a better player than Jihad Campbell.
Yes he is, but you want Jihad.
You drafted Jihad.
Right. You draft where you drafted the Kobe.
You draft Jihad.
He was looked at as an upgrade. Jihad was.
The Kobe came in and he played well.
The Kobe put himself in position to go out
and make some money somewhere else.
It's just right now he's got caught up in the numbers crunch
because he was a, a later round draft pick.
That's the guy that they highly believe in.
They felt like they, he failed to them.
So they're going to give him every chance to fail.
If the Eagle School back in time,
do you think they would have resigned Zack Bond
if they knew Nikobe would, would have a good year
the way he did and, and look healthy at the end?
I don't think they would probably not.
Like, if you told them you could, you could draft Jihad,
I'd Campbell would fall to you.
And the Kobe would come back from his injury
and look like he did.
I wonder if they don't use that money on Bond.
And it's not anything against Bond.
It's just, well, they get these two guys with their drafts.
But you found a diamond and a rough with Bond.
Yeah.
And so 94, WIP breaking.
Adam Shafter.
Jalen Phillips has agreed to a four year 120 million dollar deal
with the Carolina Panthers.
Wow.
So he was trying to get paid.
Wow.
That's why he, hold on.
Four 120, 30 a year.
Ain't nobody coming back.
Nobody trying to get that.
People are hurting out there here.
You're laughing.
All right.
My first reaction is, I mean, it is what it is.
My first reaction is, I'm glad how he walked away
from $30 million a year for Jalen Phillips.
I don't think he's worth that.
He's a good player and he helped provide a boost
last year to the Eagles.
No question when they traded for him.
But if the, we discussed it last week.
If that number got above $25, $26 million a year,
I just, I couldn't do it.
I don't know how a team justifies.
Now the Panthers are in transition,
trying to become a legit team.
So, and they got cast based on whatever.
But I don't, I think that how he made the right call
to let him walk at $30 million a year.
Yeah, and he was, he probably was looking at,
you know, the cost of living in Carolina is different
than it is here.
Warmer.
He probably, you know, coming from Miami.
That's what he probably was looking for.
He probably liked playing here.
But that cold weather probably wasn't what he wanted to be in.
Well, he, I think he just also wanted $30 million.
All of that, Joe.
I mean, you know, but it sounded like he was willing
to entertain what the Eagles were talking about.
But when, you know, you come in,
and you talk about $120 million a year,
and the, the tax difference in that
and care, like living in Carolina.
Yeah.
80 million in guaranteed.
Yeah, I mean, that's the number you can't pay him.
No, well, there's no way they can let Jaylen Carter go now.
Well, that does add to it, right?
I mean, how much are they going to lose up front
in one off season?
Yeah, I, I, when we opened the shelter name,
we were talking about the Carter thing.
I was wondering how much of that was money,
right? Because they're going to pay Carter to the,
and her and, and, you know,
all these guys at the same time, Phillips and Carter.
Yeah.
Well, now Phillips is off the board.
All right, so you can react with us.
Jaylen Phillips agrees to a four year,
$120 million deal with the Carolina Panthers,
$80 million in guarantees.
I trust how he on this one.
I, again, he was a good player here.
No, no, it reminds me.
What's that?
The Golden Tate trade in 2018.
They won the Serbone 17.
They were struggling in the beginning of 2018
to get their footing on offense.
They traded a third round pick for Golden Tate.
And it, it was fine.
I'd say the regular season was more blah
than anything.
Excellent. He did play a role to help them
win a playoff game against the Bears of Chicago.
But then he had friends.
I think he went to the Giants.
He obviously didn't stay here.
But it was too much.
Whatever he got in front of the other,
I remember thinking, ah, that's, that's too much money
to pay Golden Tate at that stage of his career.
And I feel the same way,
with, with, with, with, with, with,
with Phillips, good player.
But my goodness, 30 million.
A nice little payday.
He's worth 30 million.
I mean, obviously, the Carolina Pentecostal.
Well, and that's, again, that's a young team
trying to take a, take the next step.
All right, Jellin Phillips off the board.
The first Eagles free agent that is not sticking around.
Hugh Douglas called it about a half hour ago,
saying none of these guys would stay.
None of the top four.
We now know Jellin Phillips is a member of the Carolina Pantles.
Go to the phone lines.
2-1-5-5-9-2-9-4-9-4-William.
In Wilmington is up on WIP.
Hey, William.
Hey, Jellin, hey, Wilmington.
I hope you all had a good weekend, man.
That's a bad news.
I don't think we're getting anyone.
We might not, William.
I mean, and listen, I liked Phillips,
but 30, 30 million a year is a lot.
It is a lot, but, yeah, the Phillies blow it in the oil season.
Now, the birds of this isn't good.
We got it.
We got to keep Dallas, man.
If we lose Dallas, I might, I might just
Jell, if I don't know.
Well, let's take a deep breath, William.
Yeah, no, no, no, no, no.
Yeah, no, we need you here, but we're coming back.
Yeah, but William, I, the Dallas one is interesting,
because they don't have a replacement.
I think his best spot could be here.
It's just a matter of how much money
is he looking for?
And like Huki's mentioned, he did take a pay cut last year.
Last year, last year, my.
So we're going to make that up to him
and we're going to want to take another pay cut.
I guess take a pay cut.
Probably.
This isn't good.
And how about those six,
we're staring at a play-in game.
You love to see it.
Oh, yeah, falling to the eighth scene.
Yeah, well, I know.
Now Maxi's hurt.
Do you see the way they put that news out?
Yesterday, I heard his fifth finger.
Just called the paint.
It was his pinky finger.
Yeah.
It's a little pinky hurt.
It's a little pinky hurt.
That's like what a little toddler complains about.
Now it's now it's, it's well, it's also a joke.
The team, they're going to roll out there
in the next few games with no mb, no George,
no edge comb, no Maxi.
It's not great.
William, we appreciate the phone call.
Yeah, Hugh, that sixers playoff thing
might end up being a play-in.
Ooh, and then.

Voice of your business.
That turned quickly.
Well, yeah, I did.
I mean, I'm not.
Are you totally shocked?
No, I mean, but I, you know,
I enjoyed Maxi the way he played this year.
You know, it's unfortunate.
He heard his pinky finger though.
It does seem like they avoided the worst.
They said a couple games.
So we'll see.
I mean, he's been a pretty durable player.
I'd imagine he'll be back soon in the later.
All right, let's go back to the phones.
Corey, North East Philly,
talking to Eagles.
What's up, Corey?
What's up, guys?
I'm saying you don't, man.
Hey, Corey.
He's like, I want to talk a lot.
They say just signs yelling,
you know, he blocks
your goals.
He's, he's a, he's a, he's
active in his team and he's a real big part of this front line
of his, it fell off the Eagles, man.
I don't want to hate to see them lose them, man.
You know, I think a lot of people,
I think a lot of people feel the same way that they,
that they, he's drafted here.
He helped them when it served ball.
Don't want to lose him.
I really want to, I really want to keep down the,
that's got to be honest.
I mean, that, that, he's really a big part of this.
He's yelling, yelling hurts him.
Big target, man.
Yes, oh man.
Yes, he is.
I hate to see him lose them, you know.
I hate to see him lose them, man.
He feels the same way, man.
You know, you know, I hate to see him lose them, man.
Yeah, it was a feel, and Philly will feel
hurt if they lose them.
And somebody picks them like, that was
how I lose them.
Oh my god, you know.
Well, you know, that, that, that would be rough to see.
Corey, we appreciate the phone call.
Yeah, I, it would surprise me, though,
if some of our guys end up on the Cowboys,
like the like a chip and the, and the Dean thing connection.
Corey celebrating legal tampering day.
I don't know. I don't know.
He's just, he's, he's got a lot of motions.
Like five o'clock somewhere.
Today is the, I mean, are you surprised?
Today's the day of emotions.
I've been few Douglass's prediction is right.
And we lose all our players.
Well, he came in a mess today.
That was crying.
All these players are going to lose.
Yeah, I was crying.
I've been out of shape and stuff.
Doom and gloom, Douglass up here.
Yeah, not at all.
I'm losing everybody left and right.
I'm always happy with somebody gets, gets a payday.
I'm not happy if players leave us and get paid.
I mean, it's not here in the leaf,
but if they get a payday, I'm happy that they got paid.
Yeah, I mean, yeah, in theory, 20, what?
120, what?
120 million.
80 of things guaranteed.
Holy, we.
You jealous?
No, not at all.
You wish you played this area.
I mean, wait, wait, wait.
I mean, I'm happy for him.
Like, come on, man.
It's like, I'm happy for him.
You know what, it's like, they paved the way.
Just like Harold and those guys paved the way for us.
When we were getting it, they're supposed to get.
I'm happy for him.
Yeah, I just don't think he's a $30 million
of your pastries.
Oh, no, but he bought the act like one.
Well, he could act like whatever he wants.
He's about to get brand new.
He literally is now a $30 million of your pastries.
Can't tell him nothing.
I think the Eagles made the right call on this.
They were trying to get it done.
It is interesting, though, the way the reporting was on this.
What's that?
It almost felt like the Eagles were telling us they were trying,
but they weren't going to succeed.
Like, the Eagles are really trying.
They're trying to keep away from free agency.
You knew at 12 o'clock that they wanted him back,
but that money, like, he was probably getting offers
and fielding offers, because even though it's legal,
tampering or whatever, you got an idea
of what about who's interested in you
and what type of money that they're willing to pay you.
Of course.
And so, you know, they came in hot.
They came in super hot and they pay for them.
Do we have the number one free agent
on some list off the board now?
Are they willing to the dolphins?
Malik Willis.
Back up quarterback for the Packers
going to the Miami Dolphins.
That's a star.
Well, of course.
So, I guess the connection there is the GM
came from Green Bay and the coach, Jeff Haffley,
was their defensive coordinator.
So, obviously, they have a relationship with Malik Willis
who will now replace Tuha
as the quarterback down in Miami.
So, Malik Willis to the Miami Dolphins
and the big one, if you just hop it in,
Jail of Phillips is leaving the Eagles three years,
excuse me, four years,
$120 million to the Carolina Panthers,
$30 million a year.
And it's 80 million guaranteed.
That is a big number.
Frank at Bet Salem is up.
Hey, Frank.
What?
Frank, what's up?
Hey, I was thinking this about our quarterback.
Can our backup quarterback be number one?
Is Tanner McGee the good enough to be number one?
Well, Hugh thinks he's the future.
So, definitely a few times.
Yeah, because you have to pay hertz down the road
and you need that money for to play other players,
especially on defense.
And you probably, simply with a Super Bowl twice,
you could probably get maybe two first round picks
for them and they would go to a bad team.
Could be high picks.
You got to get a backup for Lane.
I'm thinking about another corner.
I mean, they could really use the graphics and the money.
I mean, my goal question is,
can you win with Tanner McGee?
They run the ball so much
do they really need a top-notch quarterback?
And hertz doesn't want to run anymore.
And that's the strength of his games.
How do we get to the corner?
The McGee just as good in the pocket as hertz.
So, how do we get here, Hugh?
Well, we're trying to find money.
I think Frank is trying to reimagine the team
with some extra draft picks and high draft picks
and some extra money.
That's how we got here.
I don't think, like, to be honest, Frank,
I don't think the quarterback
and taking money from him is a conversation
that's being happening.
It's Frank's conversation.
No, no, I'm saying, I don't think that's a conversation,
I'm just letting them,
that don't think that's a conversation
that's being had by anybody.
Yeah, well, Frank.
But I don't know.
I mean, we had a caller earlier who wanted to trade Carter
and her, but how do we get, how do we get to trade in Jaylin?
Well, okay, a lot of guys, we might do.
Well, Frank, I think it could her back, might help.
It's a good, it's a good phone call, Frank,
and we appreciate you.
Well, we'll answer if we think,
Frank, Frank.
Well, the franchise, the Frank, what is he?
We were just on the TV, hockin' a book.
I don't care.
We were the one famous, I was like,
about that press cut last year.
No, let's see, not that.
See how he wrote a children's book.
We can't talk about it.
Maybe trade them one day.
No, but I'm just saying,
how did they cook today?
No.
All right, so here's how I think it came out today.
I'm gonna get into Frank's hat here, okay?
Every conversation we've had for a while,
but certainly since 10 o'clock this morning,
has been about, money is tight, right?
Money is tight.
So, is it a massive leap to wonder at some point soon?
Is it better for the Eagles to have a cheap quarterback
than an expensive quarterback?
I don't think that's a crazy question.
Well, that's the premise.
And, you know, when you, but you're still in,
I think you're still in the sweet spot of Jala Hertz, you know?
I mean, they feel like it.
They went on a got three brain, they got the brain trust.
Is that to salvage him or because it's sweet spot time?
They got the brain trust.
This is the sweet spot time.
I don't know.
I don't know how you wanna look at it, Joe.
I think the sweet spot of versus 22, 23, 24.
I'm looking at it in the positive light.
Sweet spot, sweet spot.
Your mag defined glass is broken.
This is the sweet spot.
Look, obviously any kind of trade Jala Hertz thing
is feels a little bit far-fetched now.
I don't think in the future it's going to be.
And this, I mean, we all know where this is going.
This could be a proven year for Jala Hertz in this new office.
All right, 215, 592, 90 for now.
For things to be quickly, legal tampering is open in the NFL.
Jala Phillips goes to the Panthers.
The Eagles lose Jala Phillips an hour in to free.
As you can react to that, does this mean they extend Jala Carter?
And a report said the Eagles had been taking calls
on trading him.
Would you be open at trading, Joe, and Carter?
We know Phillips is out the door.
A roundup of everything for you to see next.
