Wilson’s Season Ends with Shoulder Woes | MLB News

Athletics shortstop Jacob Wilson’s season is likely over after another shoulder setback, adding to his earlier thumb injury. Once a breakout rookie with strong hitting and plate discipline, Wilson’s stats have dipped this year — and injuries keep sabotaging his consistency. The A’s, already struggling with the worst record in baseball, won’t make a big fuss, planning to plug him with other players. But if surgery looms, it could sideline him for months and jeopardize his 2025 readiness. His defensive lapses at shortstop also raise concerns. Enter promising prospect Leo De Vries — athletic, developing, and potentially ready to take over at shortstop soon — which might force Wilson to shift positions if he ever returns.
