This podcast is brought to you by a good friend at LaBrokes Charlie, a Sydney Derby of sorts with the Kronolas sharks heading back to Aliens Stadium to taking on the Sydney Roosters. What do the team at LaBrokes think about this one? They think it's going to be a close game. Jimmy, they got the Sydney Roosters $1.46 favorites. The Kronolas sharks are paying $2.75. The line is seven and a half points. The Roosters coming off four straight losses. That's a lot, Jimmy. But this game really could go either way. Where are you going for your same game, multi? Yeah, I'm going to back the Kronolas sharks with the line. So plus seven and a half points. And then I'm going to throw in a couple of any time trascurs. They are Ronaldo, Molotalo and Robert Toya. I like it, Jimmy. That one is paying $8.56. Please guys get around this game show up to it. Because it's going to be an absolute cracker. Yeah, and we'll be even better when this multi comes in. Season C's apply and available on the website odds or subject to change. Chances are you're about to lose for free and confidential support.

Visit gammallyhelponline.org.au It's game on at Hyundai with offers across a wide range of new and demonstrated models. They are a massive supporter of us here at the buy round. They support us. They support the great game of rugby league and they do great things with these automobiles, Jimmy, because the I30 sedan hybrid, that is only 33 990 drive away. And this offer, this next one blows me away because I see this car every day. And I'm very jealous that James Gray owns it. It's the Tucson hybrid and it is only 45 990 drive away, Jimmy. How is your car that cheap? Yeah, it is an absolute steel. And what about this, the all electric Alexio from 55 990 drive away. Score great offers at your nearest participating Hyundai dealer today. Hello and welcome everybody to another edition of the buy round podcast James Graham, Charlie, what and Shane Flanagan in the house. Flano great to have you on board. It's been quite the week of finals, but also the knee is new new knee.

Yeah, some and the finals for the hour, what a weekend. I really enjoyed it laid up and a nice pack on the new. And that's really better. Did you hear you got the toughest player award on triple amp? Yeah, I heard that because you rocked up called a game of footy two days after knee surgery. Yeah. It's not that much of a compliment getting toughest player by Ben Dobin. He doesn't really, you know, I'm to be honest, I would reject that award from Dobber. But glad to see the knee. It's on the floor. It's looking big, very swollen. It's getting better. Good to hear. Charlie, great to see you, Jimmy. Yeah, again, mate. We had a few drinks last night. So a bit dusty. We did. And I'm appalled at your observations of me exiting the CBD. Well, I'd love to ask Flano what he thinks because Jimmy lives in in in the Shire.

So it's probably about a 45 minute drive back to his place from the city. And we were at the front of this bar waiting for cabs and James Graham jumped in the taxi, but he got in the front seat, not the back. So he's this poor taxi driver. It's all in here. And then, oh, mate, you just, you don't get in the front seat unless you are geriatric and you need some help. And you would have put this poor bloke who you put, would have just chewed his ear off there for 45 minutes in the car home. You know, did you get to stop places? What am I supposed to do? You made a go through a drive for it. Did you? Did you? Did you? I did. You are, mate. I'm bumping for it. When you go through the drive for it, is he ordered for you? Because that's where that's where the microphone is. You're seeing in the passenger seat and you go, and I Jimmy. I did. I did. I did go through the drive through the McDonald's. Yeah, yeah. Beautiful. Don't look flurry. Beautiful.

Always get him flurry. Yeah. Even at like two o'clock in the morning, not from better than a, we're just finished off the night, but a creamy goodness. Um, Jesus. Oh God. Yes. It's a good week of them, mate. But it caught Macchi Friday. Macchi was saying, Sam Pat's college, what a way to go. Is it? That's where Jackson Pergey went to school, DCE, Wendell Sala, Blyscat is on. Benny Barber. Benny Barber. Great to be up there. Wasn't it Charlie? Beautiful. Honestly, beautiful part of the world. You know my highlight of the trip. You forgetting your headset and your earphones. So you have to fly. Um, and you're trying to make conversation with me. And then you would see him on the, on the plane. Yeah, we had a good chat, mate. You two, you two just wouldn't shut up. And you, you were, you were in a situation and you basically, it was like you wanted me to be dragged down to your level because you didn't have a headset.

Well, I thought Jimmy, Samine and Ceeves were on this plane. We're chatting away. And Jimmy just put his headphones on and ignored us the whole time. I thought you'd probably take your headset off and gauge with the people you're with. But anyway, let's put your story for another day. Because finals were fantastic. Another just a little announcement, which we announced on the last show, but we've got to do a social clips. We better announce it again. Big news, Jimmy, big news, live show at the stain. Grand Final week on the Saturday. You, the one and only Luke Keere, everyone's in love with and the great Tommy Trevoi. Yes, very much looking forward to it. It's the Saturday before the grand final. It's going to be a great late afternoon. Early evening. So plenty of good tales. Luke Keere, be bringing his best storytelling ability. And I'm also excited to, I like, I know Tom Trevoi, but nobody spent any time with him. So should be great. And the punters are in the area. Get down. It should be an awesome afternoon. Tom might talk about the race up the... Yes. Fluttered there.

There. Let's off the kickoff. Let's go. Let's go. Tommy, let's... Oh, we'll try and recreate it. Let's try and recreate it. He's a good fellow. Tommy, you obviously coached him, manly. Yeah, he's a champion. He's a champion. Yeah, got a real, you know, funny sense of humor. Yeah. And he's always up to something. And he's good in a football environment. You know, he's right in the middle of it, champion. Yeah, well, I was doing sideline for a manly game early in the year. And, you know, I'm trying to be serious, like asking for information off the manly coaches and whatnot. And Tom comes up to me and just goes, mate, don't talk to these blokes. They told us we need to score more points in the second half. And if we do that, we'll win. I'll say, OK, sweet. I like that. Oh, good. On the finals, Nathan Cleary cleared. Flano, from a coach's perspective, you're OK with that. I think for me, I wouldn't want to see him miss any games for that particular act. No, I had a look back at some previous, you know, dangerous contact. And Nathan's definitely wasn't worse than any of them.

And, you know, there's no injury to the office. If the play was injured, it'd be a difficult play. It'd be a different issue. You know, Nathan knew he got it wrong. His angles were wrong. But, you know, he didn't injure the player. I think the 10 minutes was crucial. You know, the way that unfolded, it wasn't that damaging for Panner. It took some petrol out of him, but, but in the end, I think they got it right. Fine. And he's right to play because we wouldn't want to see him sit out again. Would we for that? Yeah, especially what's happened previously in this year, you know, you're just all of a sudden to big game. You can't change the rules. And I think they got it right. Yeah, me too. Just on that incident, I think what nobody's talking about is the fact that he was a violin, missed that conversion or missed that penalty. Like that was a big moment, big moment to get the psychological impact of going in 1412. Hey, we're up here. I think, well, it completely changed the game. Obviously going for field goals later in the piece.

We don't know what would have happened, but obviously, it was number one kicker. I thought Daly Cherry, I haven't even got the job there. You know, he's done it for many, many years. Yeah, you're right. Yeah. For the roosters a lot, but I thought he might have had the opportunity. But it was a big mischievous, you know, me. Hmm. And then like, I think Pembroke deserved to win. But roosters are a look at that game and go, we got some big things wrong. That the missed the misconvary or the missed penalty goal, and the set up for the field goal, where they, they, they went, I played too late. But I think they still had plays to get back to where they originally were and talking to the left, the left stick for DCE and the way he wants it. He wants the, the set up play to be around the left post. Yep. They ended up going to the right post and it was a, like, bad, bad conversion, but it was a bad field goal attempt as well. Just didn't get a clean strike on it.

Um, and yeah, the roosters, they, they'll be really disappointed. A lot of their players, Radley, Wong, um, Robson, I think one of the butcher boys as well, like high tackle count numbers, they put everything into that. But just, then it's hard to, hard to explain how Pembroke, one, they were just normal. I guess it was just Pembroke than their systems, um, defensively, like, pretty outstanding. They made a couple of good breaks as well. But from a roosters perspective, I think it, it, it, flannel as a, as a coach, you're heartbroken, you've gone all in and you're wondering about, well, if we kick that goal, if we got the field goal, but they didn't, how hard is it to, to boost them off to say, hey, boys, we've still got a crack here. Yeah, I think Rob, I'll just go back and look at and pick those points out. I think they were so close to couple of times, like, Daly Cherry Evans went for a 40-20 there.

It was close. He just didn't get it. Um, the two points you're talking about, um, they had some opportunities to roosters, but they just didn't know it. The ball went to ground. Too much ball went to ground for the, even, even the tri, the last tri for Pembroke. You know, a pass goes to the ground. They pick it up and Pembroke score in the games over, um, too much ball on ground. Um, I thought they tried really hard. You talk about the field goal set up. I thought that, you know, that's Daly Cherry Evans kick left foot, field goals. He kicked once against the sharks and beat us one year. And, but that's that middle group, the hooker, um, Robson, it's his job there to get him to the right field position and then get the ball to the, you know, you, you kick out and it just didn't happen. And for a side like the roosters, they should have got that right. And they didn't, uh, sorry, I was just going to say as well, the, the seven tackle kick, like it was almost a perfect, but that's the, that's the margins with dealing with here in the playoffs. Daly Cherry Evans kicks the ball for a seven tackle restart set. I think that was the set that Pembroke clearly went and nailed that field goal.

You before we got started, you were talking about what DCE has been used to during his playing career. It's more a foreback that swings out the back, whereas Teddy's more involved in the rock. Hmm. Is that probably a challenge that the roosters will maybe DCE? Would that be hard for him to be adapting to that style of play? Yeah. Well, with Daly, he sort of, he's had Tom and Tom does play at the rock a little bit, but he does definitely get out the back of the back row. A lot. You'll stay at the rock, you know, early on in the tackle count or in yardage, come off their trial line, but later on up in the set, here we add on the edge and especially when they get into good field position and they're taking the opposition's trial line, you'll see Tom out the back of the back row a lot of the times, where Tadesco is at the rock a lot of the time. And I think, I'm not saying that it frustrates Daly, but it's something different that he has and how he's always, he's had his full back outside him and now he's got him playing on the inside, which is a little bit different. And Teddy likes to play that role. He can get out the back of shape, but he carries the ball a lot around the rock. And I think that yesterday was a little bit noticeable that Daly didn't get the ball first.

He needs to get the ball first into his hands and then, you know, he can get it to Savala and then have Teddy out the back. That didn't happen a lot and it went to ground. So it would have been a little bit frustrating and a bit of a change, a long-term change that he hasn't been used to. Just on that spine, follow. You get Penreth, you're 12 or you should be 14-12. You get the first nine minutes of the second half. They're down to 12. That period, I think, is another lost opportunity. Like, they'll look back and go, boys, if we're presented with this again, we have to do things differently. We have to get the ball to the right people in the right space. Almost Penreth looked like they had... Penreth didn't look any stage really in that nine-minute block like they were

undermaned and they were. Yeah, well, if you wanted to have someone off for nine minutes, it's probably the nine minutes straight after half time. From a... If you're a Penreth, there's no bathroom. Yeah, because you've got an opportunity to... You're middle forwards to get their juice back, get their breath back, refuel, get a plan. Get a plan to what happens. And then obviously start at halves. Usually, you finish your set, we'll kick at least four sets. Those two teams would have gone four sets each. And there's five minutes gone of that nine. So if you're going to have nine minutes without a play on your team, it's probably the best time to have it. It's straight after half time. Yeah. As I said, there's no good time really, but at least you can talk about it. You can talk about it at that time to lose a play. Yeah, but I still think DC, Robson, Tady, Savailer will be... Yeah. What you do there, James, is... You know, okay, they're down one. We need to move the footy. Yeah. Which I don't think the roosters...

They just sort of got into it. Okay, this is the start of the second half. Let's get back into the grind. Where it's risky. If you're going to say, okay, they're down one, they're down a half. Let's move the footy and go to that side where Nathan's not there. Chancing your arm and give Penners good feel position. But then also, if you just go into the process of complete your sets and kick in, it was playing in dependent hands when they're down a man. So it's a really interesting one. Do we roll the dice or we play safety? Well, really as well. But Blaise Talingie was defending Nathan. And Blaise, I think his defence has been under the microscope. That's why I think he's not in the starting team anymore. Like, for me, they didn't go after that enough in that period of time. They didn't set themselves up. They didn't give themselves the opportunity to do that. So from a rooster's perspective, some... Some reasons for hope, because you've four weeks ago, you went there and won. You've gone there in a semi-final and you've proven you can compete when

the stakes were at their absolute highest. I think back to Canberra last year, and they went all in on that game against the Broncos. Should have won. Could have won. Didn't. And they come up. Ironically, against the sharks who the roosters will face again this week. And they just had nothing. Like, I guess, you know, not looking too far ahead, but the concern is that, that, you know, respectfully, the sharks won without going to those areas, going to the dark place they won comfortably. You know, fresh sharks versus a tired roosters is a different game altogether. There were some things that I thought about the roosters, and I wonder why it didn't happen. And some of it, because they didn't get fuel position, like they didn't kick to Tupu. They didn't, you know, that mark you mark how to cut a couple of opportunities. Robert Toy didn't get the ball enough in really good fuel position.

And he showed what he did. When he can, it just goes bang, bang, footwork, and he's over. And I look back and I watch the game, the highlights again this morning, that they didn't really get that many opportunities in the opposition's half to really go to those people. But when you got, you know, Tupu, such a strike weapon over on that edge, they didn't get fuel position to kick to him. And they didn't get fuel position to shift the shape to go to Toya. Their strikes didn't get the ball enough, and they weren't in good fuel position enough. So that's credit to Penra's. They just kept him out of that strike zone. I think for me, they missed some walker massively. Like, what he does for their attack is, well, it was evident. I thought on Sunday, like him missing made roosters far easier to defend against. Far more predictable, which obviously is going to happen. You know, with all contract talks and whatnot, I think he was noticeable by his absence. So the powers that beat the roosters saying, well, you better meet my market value,

or you're going to miss me. Yeah, well, we say dangerous with the football. We know you'll kick on tackle one, tackle two, but sometimes they come off. Tries, yes, you know, line breakers, yes, he leads the game in it. And, you know, when he goes away from you as a middle forward, you can say you can lock off for a split second, and all of a sudden, then he's coming back there. So he's definitely a loss. Is he back this what next game for them? Hope so. Well, you looked on the on the sideline. You looked like he was. I see many of you prior to the game, and he looked pretty confident about that, you know, he could be back for the next game. He didn't say which game, but he could be back for the next game, whether it was a week off or, or next week. So some of these recovery times are a bit crazy at the moment, it's been these players are just so fit. The rapid recovery is pretty incredible. Like Dylan Lucas is going to get named this week. He did a fracked ab dislocated and fractured ankle, and he's going to be returning in seven weeks.

I believe it will be seven or eight weeks. The fastest seven, I believe it was eight and where. He came back in 10 weeks. So that's a huge, huge leap, like quick recovery there. Dylan Lucas. This podcast is brought to you by our good friends at Labbroke. Charlie, the finals are happening, and you know what that means. The pots are back with Labbroke. It's my favorite feature on the Labbroke's app, Mate's Mode, getting the pots, getting there together, chuck 25 bucks in and see if Jimmy can find us some winners. You did a good job on the weekend, mate, and the pots are live now. So if you want to jump in to $25 buy in, you go to the buy round, group in Mate's Mode and jump on. Yeah, that's pretty simple doing. And then just get stuck into the chat. Let me know where I should focus the attention. A couple of close ones last week with Adam Fenure Blake, face triscora. We know how close that was. I did get tamed to a piggy for face try in that Warriors game. Also, I think we did get up as well, which is absolutely fantastic. So only available on Labbroke's and Mate's Mode.

It's fantastic, Jimmy. I'll be jumping on. You are. You are a great tipster. I will say this about you. You are one of Rubbie League's great tips. So I'll be following you in to battle, my friend. Season sees apply and available on the website. Odds are subject to change. Chances are you're about to lose for free and confidential support. Visit gamelinkuponline.org.au You know what I'm sad about? Like, mark no one needs to wise they go in a rubber union. I love watching him so bad, so much. So he's just amazing. The things he can do, no one else in the game can do that. To reach out of that ball is an incredible play. Just to get that intercept, because they were through the pattern as well. But he doesn't just get the intercept, he stands up, gets into full sprint, almost immediately to have that level of athleticism is incredible. Yeah, I agree to say a player is freakish and all that sort of stuff. We're trying to be, we've been really kind to him because he just does some things that I haven't seen other players do. Yeah, as you said, he tapped it up. You know, in one motion gets up off the feet.

Two players come across to defend him and just beat him with speed. And you know, some of his flick passes, his tries, the try they just scored last year, like, we should be keeping him in our game. I know we can't, but he's a super player. That's where, because we spoke, the Lanny spoke a little while ago about this fun to keep guys from going to union. I know, obviously, it becomes confusing and the Salar Cap, if it was a rooster's player, everyone's gonna come out of time. Another rooster's Salar Cap Raw. But that money, we should have used money to keep mark no one needs to wise in the game. We should have done everything in our power to not have him go to rugby because he's the kind of guy that can bring in new eyeballs as well. By doing those freakish plays and they go viral on social media. And you know, that try he scored last year, that would have been seen, not just in Australia, but around the world. That went viral. But it's just not a rooster's support of standing up and cheering that. It's all a bus. 100%. You know, it's, you know, bar pen north. Well, yesterday, everyone's just stand up, going well. How good is he? That doesn't happen too often. For maybe people at home listening or watching,

just try standing up, dropping to the floor and getting back up and sprinting again and just how hard it is to actually do that action. I thought... Especially for Flano right now. Yeah. Yeah. I thought he had a great game defensively. He got two intercepts and that was always the knock on him was, he'll score your point. He'll pull the rabbit out of the heart. He'll come up with some things that only he can do, but under the high ball and defensively, he can get a little bit lost. But I think he was awesome defensively. He stopped another three on two situation. He was in the heads of the Pembroke players because of those two intercepts. It was a different lock for the Panthers when they were going down his edge because they'd never seen him do anything quite like that before. So I thought massive defensive game from him. I thought Milky Jenkins had an opportunity to score a try. He just needed to go to the corner. I reckon he looked like 15 to 20 metres that he had. And then he come off his left foot and come back into

the two defenders coming across. I thought there was definitely a wasted opportunity or a try-scoring opportunity. Flano, what was he doing? Yeah. That was for a guy that can score tries like he does. All he had to do was sprint to the corner. He gets it. And instead he stepped back into Norengan and into us. It was probably heavy thinking it. Just quietly as well for the pots on Labbrokes. He had Jenkins, first try-scorer. I also had Adden Fennuer Blake first try-scoring the shark's cane. That got choked off but it did obtain to a picky first or second try-scorer. Take it. I think we got up in a couple but it could have been a very good weekend for the pots. Had the Adden Fennuer Blake and Milky Jenkins tried it. Oh absolutely. Now the big concern for Penner with his Nathan Cleary because he was very hobbled late in the game. He was hobbled. Well yeah, is that...

I think that makes sense. Is it very hobbled? Yeah, he was hobbled. He was hobbled. He was limping on that foot. And feet, you know what? Feet injuries can be complex as well. And can be so many little parts in the feet. I think that forfeet is not feet. Yeah, you know. I mean, come on to me. Come on, come on. It's true. I don't have feets injuries. I have a foot injury. Yeah, you're right. You know what, you're right. Ha! This is the hangover Charlie. Yeah. A disgrace. Yeah, so Nathan Cleary's got a foot injury. He's not a feet injury. He's going for scans today. Use him in a show I think early in the week that even if he's out, Pamerson won't reveal it. He'll keep the cards close to that. No, no, no. What's the point? Why would you give the opposition that knowledge to plan for life without him? I mean, you know, I'm pretty sure with Garne going out late, I don't think the roosters would have known

Blaze Talangi would have been playing in the centres. I know he did. He got pulled out of the cup. Pulled out of the cup the day before. You know, maybe would have raised an eyebrow. What's going on here? Maybe someone's playing some duchess and drakes as well. But they, you know, I think it would have been an hour before kickoff where they've gone off. We're going to, we're going to adjust. But if Nathan's out, you keep that absolutely in house. I remember the grand final in 14. Michael in this was never going to play. Never. He was named in the number nine jersey. He was instructed by the club to turn off with the kickbag. You know, leave your crutches on the bus and you just hobble in there. Like you're looking to play and he was never going to play. Never. So you keep the coaches, you know, Flannic and attest to this that coaches, it's why would you give any information or necessary information away? Especially when it's probably one of the best players in the world. And halfback. So it's going to be interesting. I like, as you said, whether it's feet or foot,

a lot of bones down there and not a lot of muscle down there. So if you have got an injury, it could be a little fracture or, you know, so you hope it's not at least frank or something like that. But he did kick towards the back end of the game. But he was really hobble. He kicked that field goal. There was no, I mean, he's not a huge celebrator anymore when he kicks field goals. But he was just, he kicked the field goal, I mean, decided limping backwards. Well, I wish he would start celebrating his field goals. Because for us in the commentary box, it's a nightmare. Like it is an absolute night. We have to react to the crowd behind the sticks. And then you're like, is that Rooster's fans? Was that Pemory fans? Like we were the opposite end pretty much. But you'd look at him and it's like, as he got that or not. Because it's so hard to tell. Just on the injury, you certainly, you certainly don't want the, the stars of the game missing through injury. It was great to see last weekend's teams come out. And I've pretty much all the stars that were, we're in doubt play. And the game needs Nathan.

And what are, you know, the Roosters without Walker, you know, and then Panrath without Cleary. Well, that's going to be a big hurdle to jump. So it really interesting the next couple of days. Great win for Dolphins. They've now won 16 of 18. So 16 wins from the last 18 games. They're side of the season, two wins, five losses. They've got everything. They sure do. I thought their bench was awesome. I thought Nulls was amazing, especially his second stint. Was it interesting to see him in the Englishman? He is. He is. Yes, yes. And Jimmy's good mate as well. That's why it took all off season. I think you were pumping him up. Well, he's done a good job. He's done a good job. Amazing job. It was him and Tommy Gilbert, I think it was. Going out each other in the opening exchange as well. So what do you think about that? I love it, mate. I love it. Personally, I think, and yeah, players go back and forth at each of it. Me, it shows that you care and you get like, personality clashes and you know,

under-instruction. It's a high-stress environment. That coming out, I certainly don't think it's a bad thing at all. But you like it as well. Flaming in your players, if you see them. I love it. Strong words with each other. Yeah, I love it. And I especially if it's controlled and you're not, you know, putting your side under pressure with penalties. You know, getting silly push-and-fights and all that sort of stuff. But if you go after I love it, and your teammates just jump on the back of it. Yeah, it was a huge win for the dolphins. You've got to credit them for just their ability to eat to 10. Like, a situation that that tribe from the hammer. Like, there's absolutely nothing on there. You think about it from a warrior's perspective. We've kicked to our left. Did you mean a Sarko? A Sarko? We've got a full kick-chase line. Like, the right edge is sort of going well.

We'll just go a little bit. Middles are getting down there. Sock one pass, Sarko. Then it's the hammer. But then the right edge of the warrior is a thing of a mum. There's nothing doing here. It's just a regulation tackle. And if the hammer does the stair, gets through, and it's a legs tackle, and it gets a quick play of the ball. That's a win for most. Like, that's the best, the best case scenario for most attacking teams in that situation. It's a quick play of the ball from the hammer. But it just absolutely went and flipped the game on its head with that moment. And then the skill execution, like, farmwares pass over his head. How do you, you don't practice that? You don't, I don't believe you do. But that was, that was an incredible,

I don't know, we're talking about Mark Noong and I need to ask these straight. That try was special. In the context of the game, like, unbelievable. He was at Allianz Stadium watching on the, on the TV with the great Ben Dolvin. And Dolby was planning to go to Suncorp, because he thought the warriors would be in and that would be going to Suncorp to watch the dolphins play. 20 minutes to go. But then all of a sudden the dolphins through the hammer, just clicking to gear and they are so hard to handle. When they just get in, you know, give them half a bit of space and you get that speed, you know, we always talk about a Jimmy speed. You just can't coach it. And they've got some players in there, they've got genuine speed. The hammer any runs as fast as he has to. And then Herbie, you know, he's skill level, he's power. It's just something, I love watching him. You can't coach speed, but no doubt the warriors players would have been under strict instruction to don't present those gaps.

Without it. Even if the hammer and farmwares are away from you, that's when they're at the most dangerous, because mentally you can just go, they've got it covered. I know it was a last play option where Herbie's got the ball and he's cut back and cut back on the inside. But again, you could almost, you could almost feel those warriors' middles go, oh no, coach, it's going to say, I told you so. Yeah. I told you that you've got to keep moving, that you, like the ball might be away from you, it might be last play. But if you leave half a gap, if you present half an opportunity, Herbie Farmwares is going to find that space and he's going to punish you exactly what happened. You could almost feel Webster look down, tell a message, I told him so don't let that happen again. The dolphins could go all the way. You know, a couple of weeks ago, the game against the roosters, I thought they had a real defensive mindset. We always talk about how flashy and classy their outside backs are and their fullback. But over the last couple of weeks, they've had a defensive mindset.

You know, we've played and Donnie you in there and you just spoke about their front rowers. They're a dead set force. This podcast is powered as always by the great team at Hyundai and it is game on at Hyundai Charlie with offers across a wide range of new and demonstrator models. It certainly is Jimmy, like the i30 sedan hybrid. Now, this is only 33 990 drive away, just incredible value. Jimmy, your Tucson hybrid is 45,990 drive away. That is incredible. It sure is, Charlie, a beautiful car. What about this? The all electric Alexio from 55 990 drive away only issue with all electric vehicles. What's that Jimmy? You don't get to moot around petrol stations and observe and just see what is selling. Sometimes those petrol stations have some great things to just pick up, make you journey. But you know what, if you get all the electric car just pop in anyway just for the crack and it doesn't stop you from doing that.

Do you want one gate to ride for 650 or two for seven bucks? Oh, it's always a tough one. It's a bit of a difference. Score these great offers at your nearest participating Hyundai dealer today. And they got the class ago with her, herbie farm worth. Is he now the best center in the game? Not at the bait. I not only see the best center in the game. He's in another league compared to Mitchell, Criton, Best, Toya, Stags. He's in another league, Charlie. Like he plays in the centers but it's almost like a new position. So a lot of centers, they have like you think in a little trail and he's the moment center and he doesn't really chase the game. Stephen Criton has got that exceptional defensive ability and it's certain points in the game. Like he can turn it on with the football, Katoni Stags.

Like love what he bought to the the NRL especially last year. And each and every year that he's played to be fair. But Stephen, heavy farm worth, he'll chip him with the backfield carries. Yeah, he's exactly right. Which is not what it's not a center's job to do that. So he'll chip him with the backfield carry. So he's doing the job of a winger to get them out of trouble. He's got the offload at will. His footwork is on another planet. I don't think anybody touches him when it comes to the race for the best center. He's a league of his own. Yeah, the man of touch is he has in a game, is elite. He's always available and he'll do the hard stuff to come in at the back end of the field. He'll do midfield, he'll kick chase. He's not just an attacking center. He's a defensive center as well. He's so strong and we can beat people on the outside and then he's deadly when he comes back off his left foot.

So I agree with you Jimmy, he's class player and probably the best center in the game. Well, fully enough Charlie, he is my Hyundai hybrid hero. Really important. To both sides of the contest. So which is what hybrids do Jimmy? Exactly, petrol and electric. So that's why. Best of both worlds. Best of both worlds exactly. So in terms of defense on the weekend, he lost Cobbo, which I don't know if I agree with that one. I thought they both should have been allowed to stay on, but the defensive movements, there was times, I know the Warriors, they were down to 11, dolphins down to 12, but there was moments here where it was 12-1-12, farmed with without Cobbo. He just looked comfortable and the Warriors were trying to go there. And he just was, he could check two players and come up with the tackle. He never over committed, which is when you down, when you down a player or you're down

on a player on that edge, you can think, I'm going to make the play back, shoot the play down, stop the ability to get that ball to the edge, but he just played it so well, so cool, so calm, collected defensively. And we're talking about his footwork. That pass to Cobbo. My goodness me. Like that, that was, it was undefendable. Undefendable. It was the timing, the speed, the precision, the accuracy was, that's why I'm talking about him being by far and away the best centre in the comp this year. Buzz Rolffield yesterday said that the roosters are eyeing him up as a fullback. Can he play a fullback in your eyes, final? Yeah, he possibly could, but I'm going to have to be interested to see, does he want to move? You know, there's a different skill set in fullback. The amount of case you've got to do,

when you're bringing the ball back, you've got a defensive line coming down at you, you're more of a support player rather than you can be a ball player at the back of shape, but the skill set is completely different. I haven't really seen her be do a lot of that, you know, look at the back of shape and bring the ball back. Could he do it without a doubt? He's a class football player, but is it his best position? I'd probably doubt it, you know, it's an interest them on that. That conversation has been happening for a decent stretch of time. Now, obviously, you only signed a one-year extension at the Dolphins. And I think it's a compliment to the dolphins that they've got other clubs lining up their best place. Like, you know, it's a compliment to them. And they do have a challenge on their hands in order to keep them together. And the glamour clubs, the ones that like to get the checkbooks out, are going to come from. They're going to tennis. I sincerely hope he stays at the Dolphins.

What's Christian Wolf like to you mean? Because you've been coached by him. What's he like as a coach? Because we obviously hear a lot of good stories about him going around from his days and man eyes. His name was Afro Savage. His boxing name. He never lost a fight. I tell you all, I wouldn't want to get on the wrong side of him. And again, just on the Dolphins, I don't think enough credit is given to Christian Wolf. And especially because he is such a hard-nosed person, like, tough, uncompromising, and often teams reflect their coach's personality. But this is the complete opposite. Like, the good-looking, young, fast, skillful, like, you know, I'm not saying Wolfie's not a both. He's a street fighter. Yeah. Yeah. And some of their forwards reflect that. They're street fighters. Yeah, he's a bad guy. But the players that get them over the line on. And Wolfie, when he got the job, he was after Wayne Bennett. And how many times does Wayne take

that dust with him? Because I think sometimes that is because Wayne's reputation as a coach, the players love playing with him. And it's often the comparison. Well, if Wayne was here, we'd be doing this. Or Wayne would have done X. And why are we doing Y? And it's also incredibly difficult to, I think, to pre-plan to take over from somebody which has happened underway before. But Wolfie and what he's done, in like, last year, they were pretty close. It was injuries that cost him the finals. But I don't think you can underestimate his impact on the group to get them to foster the environment for them to play that style of football. It's been exceptional. I agree. He's been great. I think with the Herbie one, if Herbie did go to the roosters, they got Rob Toyar at Wrights' and I, and then put Herbie over on the left. Because probably one of the positions the roosters, they got Billy Smith there,

he's been injured. So it's probably a spot that he could slot in, whether it goes to fullback. I'm not quite sure what the roosters plan is when Tedesco's over, Tedesco, I'll play next year. Just on Wolfie, he's a brother Ben with me at the Dragon. He's very, very similar. Cool, calm, collected. He's footy side. He's exactly right. Jimmy does resemble his personality a bit. He's tough, he's fair, and he works really hard. So that's the dolphins for me, and they've got a bit of class. Warring signs for the Wars though, especially those moments of class in attack, it felt they were missing. I thought they missed their X-Factor in Lecker. That's a hard person to replace, and then I can't even remember it well, who got Simbind off the kickoff? Off the kickoff. Not all Pompey, Adam Pompey with the shoulder charge. Not off the kickoff, that was after a trial, wasn't it? Was it the first play of the game? No, after a try off the kickoff. Yeah, yeah.

What are you doing? I get that, let's go after them, but to just shoulder, there was only going to be one outcome. He didn't get suspended. No, I don't understand. That was a proper shoulder charge. And you talked about? Spencer did that to someone. He'd begun for six weeks. Look, luckily, obviously nobody got hit and properly injured, but yeah, that was a silly play. But the worry is, look, with all the energy, with all the atmosphere, and the boars, and everybody was telling them, all you need to do is finish in the top two. It's all you need to do. No one's going to come to your backyard and get the victory. Obviously, the dolphins had other ideas, didn't they? And for the warriors, I think Lecker is really important getting him back into the game. I thought it was telling Tony, brought it up before,

what are they doing, taking all those penalties? And I know at different stages, the two points on on offer is what you take, Flano, but at some point you've got to back your attack. Like, once you get to eighth in front, you can't break it. As well, taking five of them, five times they took the opportunity to kick a goal, and they go on how you're basically sending the message, your defenses to good, we're going to take the two. I agree with it, sometimes you should take it. Like on the one just before half time. Yeah, of course. Yeah, there's going to be ones to go from six to eight, but it seems strange to do so many. I'm with you, Jimmy, about the noise about the warriors for the last two weeks, at least before semi-finals has been finished in the top two. We get to home semis, and that just sits in the back of your mind that will be okay. We've got two home semis, but really, it doesn't matter. In this day, it's nice to have, but it's not a must have. Yeah, sides have got to go over

then travel, but I know some sides that I've been with, they get together and go, how good is this? We go over there, we go on a way for a couple of days, we get together, we connect, and we're going to go and beat these bikes on their home turf. That happens, and I reckon that happened on the weekend. Newcastle said, listen, we're not supposed to win this week. They've got there at home, in front of all their fans, we're going to have no fans there, we've got to travel, it's going to be cold, wet, and all that sort of stuff. We're never going to win, but Newcastle went there with a rule attitude where, hey, let's go and throw everything at it, let's connect, and let's show them what's Newcastle's about, and they just got a job done. The warriors making a mistake going for the minor premiership in the last game of the season, should they have rested all their forwards, and I know they rested, okay, okay, well, and weight-eagant, but should they have done a mass resting for that last game? I'll tell you on Sunday afternoon, because if they don't win, definitely it's been, they may be thinking about, hey, listen, the two home sammies, not rest-empliers, we didn't get the minor premiership, we should have probably rested, we probably should have said, let's just make in the end, no one remembers who won the minor premiership, is there whoever won it?

I've almost already forgotten. Yeah, but it's about winning the competition, and they've, put themselves in a position to win the comp, they've gone backwards one step now, but they're still got, they're still in there with a fight, but they need to find something. Have their two, their half injuries over the last all year, basically, they've gone through a lot of halves, has that come back to bottom at the end? Yeah, I still think the way the warriors have handled themselves this year should be applauded, like the way they've dealt with injury after injury, that consistent form, the platform and the systems that have been embedded into that club with that next man up mentality, I think they had a fully fit roster, they're giving it more of a shake, but... Would you bring Luke Metcalf in, Jimmy? Absolutely. He's apparently not going to be fit for this game, but if he was fit, would you bring him in? Yes, without a doubt. Yeah, absolutely, I think he has to, I think he gives them much more creativity, the more, what's currently there,

to break down strong defensive teams, look at the game against Penrith over there, that was his first game back in first grade, and he was creative, his run threat, his past threat, like he, for me, he was the huge difference in that game, huge difference, and they're looked to draw on that energy, like that was an emotional day, but they're going to Eden Park, they're going to ride that emotional wave, I don't think all is quite lost for the wars, I know it was an intense game, but I think they're going to be able to recover and still give the finals a shake. Now it is going to involve a harder road now in terms of, yeah, they get Eden Park this week, and they can't be thinking about what's next, but it will be a trip to play Penrith in Sydney, and I think they've got the game to compete in that, could be different kettle of fish coming up against a fresh

Penrith Panthers, but they can give it a shake. Oh, depends if the Penrith Panthers half-ex there. 100%. If he's not there, it's a different story isn't it? And then the path really opens up for them, because they'll be big favourites this week and against the night, so they get through this this night's team, they had a Penrith Panthers, they had nothing clear, they'd always be favourites for the wars, they'd have to play that game. But even if the the nights get over the warriors this weekend, they're back in form, obviously, Caillan's, we saw last year with Walsh, the semi-final series yet, and he took the Broncos to win a championship. Caillan started that now, he's out in the first step of that. He started it this last weekend, and if he has another couple of games like that, who knows? I think for the warriors, again, it's similar to the roosters in terms of what the coach, the coach and the leaders around navigating this, it's a different pressure now for the what it's there's to this game on the weekend is all the pressures on them.

You know, the game against the dolphins, I tipped the dolphins, I thought they would win, I thought it was an even contest, but going to the nights, all new castles getting the free hit, the pressure is on, and it's how you handle that pressure sometimes as a club roosters, they've got to recover, look, they'll be favourites to beat the sharks, but short turnaround. Short turnaround, yeah, I think the warrior is now from inside the dressing room, it's dealing with the pressure of like we're expected to go out and book ourselves a ticket to play penalty. I thought the roosters' pen-ruth game as a game as a whole, the standard, the speed, the power, the skill level was way better than the other two games. I thought that it was a high intensity game, ball-in play was high, they'll go and add it, the contact was heavy, so I mean, after roosters, you can recover well out of that, they should go into the sharks going, feeling pretty good,

yeah, they lost, but reasonably confident, especially if you know, walkers back. you. The shark's game was, didn't feel like a finals game, did it, we were there fun, I didn't feel like it. No, it didn't, the Cowboys scrambled AK, but obviously they couldn't catch a kick the first 20 minutes and then the sharks, I thought the sharks played reasonably well, I thought Adam Fennelblatt was good, Braille ran a lot out of dummy half, there were some really good moments, Ronaldo come up with some big tackles, they played with emotion and there wasn't too many things I go, the sharks were poor in that area, I just thought the Cowboys didn't put them under pressure really at all, it wasn't a real semi-final performance from the Cowboys. It's a big moment at the end of the game as well which hasn't actually got much coverage in media but you were in the commentary box about five minutes going the game and you said it's time to take Trindle off, they've won the game, it's over, they left him out there and then in that last play of the game, it looked like he redid his shoulder. Now the sharks are saying he hasn't but he looked like he was in a ton of pain funner. Yeah well I think Fitsy dodged a bullet there, you know the game

won the game and all of a sudden Trindle has got a big back roll running at him and he had to put off a nice tackle but he did hurt himself and I just without Trindle in that football team at the moment they can't go any further so they need him, they need to put him in cotton wool for the next six or seven days, you'll get a little bit more strength in that shoulder over the period of time. He didn't, he didn't have a rear currents at all during the game like pop out or anything so it's not going to be worse than it was so another six or seven days will help him but they definitely need to put him in cotton wool. There's a lot of players playing through the pain barrier right now and I think we've got to give credit to those lads that are shooting off and you could see the the agony that he was in at different stages but he's he's just doing it for his team. I mean I didn't quite know what to expect. They proved in the show, they proved in the show that they can compete but they just so out of form and a lot of spotlight on drink water he's moving on

but what I noticed something I thought Jesus he's involved in a lot of tackles so check the stutsheet 17 tackles from a fallback. That's got to be some kind of record. The sharks had a lot of play the balls inside the cowboys 10 meters so and he does defend like they sent some traffic out and they sent traffic at him because 70 flound you know if you ever heard of a fallback make it a lot of tackles it is like they puts they put some working in your hands, in your hands and you begin to and from working to and maybe that's what was behind the mistakes and I'm out of it. He was off from the start they didn't give it. The sharks had a fair plan. The sharks was don't go outside the scrum lines they just power through the middle. Braille jumped out two or three steps and put people in behind the markers or put them one on one with the eight defender. They got down and played the ball and they did it again, did it again, did it again with their outside man to start the sets and then their bigger bloke's at the back end and then let's just kick it to drink water getting one on one and contest it with you know some people going through

and they just kept doing that they would have done that at least 10 times and they just blew the cowboys rock apart and then got good repeat sets because the cowboys couldn't defend kicks. I hope that when they played the roosters on Saturday I hope both sets of fans stand off. I think the sharks fans so I think the sharks need their fans. Aliens again like the 17,000 that were there rebook your tickets and go again and I hope roosters fans get behind their team because they I think it could be the difference but you pack that Aliens up make it feel like a final. Well, Eden Park will sell out today. It will sell out today. It's on tractor. It will sell out today. Like that's going to be a huge venture for the Warriors isn't it? That's going to be massive having their fans there. I think it should be 30,000 roosters sharks. The cowboys wouldn't have had too many there. On the sharks fans will come. Yeah. Some of these sharks fans might have been saving their money for the second week as well because they knew they would have had a team in week two in Sydney because they were going to play the loser of Panthers Roosters. They cost

cost the living. It's a lot these days for families to go to the footy of spending hundreds of dollars on food once you're there. Alcohol is so expensive. Then you've got to get the transport there. If you drive you've got a sort park and get the ticket. So everyone's bagging the fans and not showing up. But everything is very expensive these days. Yeah. And if so people can't afford it. They can't afford it. And Ken McKinney said that in his press conference. He said, if you can't afford it, don't come. And if you can't afford it, come. He basically said, but yeah, I reckon we'll see a massive crowd. Yeah, hopefully that I think it does that game deserves a big crowd. And I think both teams need it. They need their support. It can be the you can be the difference between winning and losing. But the sharks, they'll be. You know, it's funny. What watching that game yesterday, there'd be no happier person than Craig Fitzgiven watching the Panthers and the Roosters just go after each other. Like, you would have just been, have they go, how good is this? Oh, you know, in fact, it only disappointed. It didn't go to

extra time. Like you would have been, you know, hoping DC kicks that field goal, give us some extra time. But he's sat there on the lounge, gets that extra day recovery as well, which I mean, it's marginal gains. It's a slight edge that they'll get. But he would have loved what he's seen. And I think he'll. He'll have the sharks players, believing if they play it their best, they get a win. Yeah, the sharks play sharks footy. And fit to you, obviously, being at the Roosters, you have a good knowledge of their systems and processes. And you know, even that's the way they think about big games. So it's going to be a big game without a doubt. You know, the Roosters will be favorites. But the sharks definitely have to give it a crack. Spote to Ronaldo Maltala after the game. And he said we're playing shit footy. Like, I think they're aware they're not at their best. And is it, is it actually possible for them to just flip it this way? Or is it going to be too tall to talk about? Well, they're going to have to.

Yeah, but is it possible? Yeah. Well, yeah, you asked that question to the group. We're going to have to. You don't have a choice. You've got to. But if we want to be coming in to training on the last week of September and the first week of October, we got to we got to we got to we got to change. We've got to go. We've got to find some gears. And they've got the players that can do it. Like their center focus point like Flano spoke about coming down the middle. I think that is their best way to attack. And then if Trindal can work some magic on the edge, the emotion of someone like Ronaldo Maltala, him getting in the face of Mark Nguongini to I say, like that a big battle a couple of weeks ago. So that'll be interesting. Those two. I think the sharks have just got to um, you know, they've got to sort of play sharks footy. They've got to get good for your position and then they're best when they move the footy and get it to their outside man. I just feel the sharks at the moment are just missing one forward. Like Adam goes and then Hazelton played well on the weekend. He carried the ball, but I just feel that at the moment they're just missing one big

man with the food she's not getting a lot of time. Well, Rudolph didn't get on. Rudolph's not saying he didn't get it. He was there one of the best players last year during their finals. I know. And yeah, that was that one to punch. Yeah, that was a strict. And I know when Sifka came on, maybe that, well, I need he was, he was everywhere. Like he was, he was playing the middle at points as well. Yeah. I think did he start coming in centers because they certainly can't turn off with the edge. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Maybe someone like that is there a little bit of secret weapon, the secret sauce, the axe. Fuck, they're just throw him on in the middle like in a like in the lock forward position and he carried twice in one set. He carried, I think it was played two off to kick off and went through a couple of them and then rolled back up again and carried on play five. He's so powerful. Like I just love watching him play first contact. It very rarely gets him when he's in the mood that he was in and you can put him anywhere. Edgeback Rose, Sano Wing. What's his best position? Do you think? Where he is. Just coming off that interchange bench, coming on,

you know, it could be, it could be back row. But just coming off the bench, adding that power and just go on and destroy teams, create some, have it because he does go a little bit sideways, which is good. So yeah, I think his best position is coming off the bench. Don't start him up. Just take too much petrol out of him, bring him on when they're a bit fatigued. What, what do you reckon is their best middle rotation then because you've got for newer Blake and who started there was McMcMill. Could you just call him? Yeah, just call him. Yeah, real tidy. And then off, then McKinnis at Locke, and then off the bench, they bring on Hazelton, Kafousi, Braden, Billy Burns. Billy Burns, and Sifertalga. Where's the space for Rudolph? It was probably not there at the moment, especially in that form because Billy Burns has been, you know, he's been really good off the bench. I love him as well. He's been good off the bench. He can play in the middle. Does he just Rudolph jump Kafousi? Well, that did do it anyway,

but you know, Rudolph hasn't played for a long period of time, has he? Kafousi didn't play big minutes on the McM. Kafousi is a big body and go with the ball forward. I just feel, as I said, you know, that Adam needs that one, two punch sometimes. And when they go back on his pre-second stint, sometimes it's not there. And, you know, next week is going to be a big game. You know, Tommy Hazelton did a great job before I thought carrying the footy on the weekend. And they're all going to need to stand up in the middle part of the field because that's one of the rooster's strengths. Did you talk Bunnies night? It was a great game. It was. I'd love to know, you boys think about the bunker decisions as well. The obviously the strip that was that was called it that was in the end called a knock-on. Originally, when I was a try, then they overturned to no try. And the dumb young was his foot in touch, was it not in touch? That was given as a try, state as a try. What do you boys thoughts on those? What do you reckon about the strip? It was like round one when we were in Vegas the last play of the game. I'm glad you bought that of not me because... It was like I was gone. It was very much similar. I could have gone either way.

The round one went to the Bulldogs. I said it. We stripped it. I thought it was affecting the tackle. It was exactly the same situation on the weekend. Was he affecting the tackle? Was it a strip? I can't go with the way these things. You can look at it. Did he have a stripping motion? He was going to stop the football, which is the main thing in the game. So it's a really tricky one. The one where his foot did it touch the sideline. Holy hell. Someone said they saw some grassy. We needed a hotspot. We needed a hotspot or the hawk eye in the... He just had a lazy... He just had a lazy... Well, we will play eventually on a smart field. I think we need it for those moments. I don't think any of us could say 100% what happened. They could have a lazy just down there and if a foot breaks the laser... We still have a white side lines but the laser has been broken. That wouldn't be that expensive as far as technology goes as well. We have to do some like that. A smart field or the hawk eye could solve that problem

but it's a heavy investment. On the stripping one. I'm summoning it up like this. If I'm the Knights and that try is awarded, I just move on. I don't think... Which one do you mean? The stripping. So the Knights can see the strippers. So if I'm in the Knights dressing room for you and the Knights coaching staff and that try goes off and the bunker review it and say try and find. I'm just cracking on with my day. I don't think I'm looking at that and complaining the other way and it obviously riled up way in Bennett who was wanting to completely get really the bunker. I just don't think that works. Our game is too fast, too unpredictable, too difficult to... Well, Wayne was against the bunker because Wayne wants to know who was in charge, who was a referee because the referee would go try and then the bunker would say no try and vice versa.

So like he wanted to know... Like if someone said the referee says try, there has to be sufficient evidence to overrule the on-field decision and that doesn't happen a lot of time. Like just the last couple of weeks, they've just sort of disagreed a lot and that's where Wayne is coming from that. He wants to know who's in charge. Who's in charge or the bunker in charge and on with him. You know with the incident, it was a Germanic current affecting the attack on pretty sure. It looks like he misses the tackle, knows he's missing the tackle and then plays at the ball in my opinion anyway. Can you see where Bunny's fans would be coming from with that one? Well, like I say, I think it should have been a try. Yeah, like I say, I could leave if I'm self some probably filthy from Newcastle I can live with it. Yeah. What about the Edden Fennel bloke, Blake? No try. See, I'm happy with that. I know you're not happy with that. Well, I think momentum is important. Like he was a big man. He ended up in the end goal. Did he have the ball carrying arm touched the ground before the trial? Yes. But he ends up in the

end goal. I'm just through my momentum. Yeah, he didn't. Yeah, I thought that should be one. Did he re-worn, though? Well, that's what they said. Yeah. They said he re-launched. But, there's so many of those ones where if you come short and then go again, I understand. There's a clear, yeah, but that was it was almost he rolled and then got a second promotion. I'd like to see that rule change. I think if it's direct, but then if you in that particular instance, I would have been happy with the try. Because Charlie, what if on a wet day, the wing adives before the line and the opposition player touches him before the line? Same theory, isn't it? Yeah, 100%. And it happens. Yeah. You know, like he was never going to stop him. It's momentum. He slides over the line. So he could be tackled a meter out, but he's momentum takes him over the line. But if the rule, the way we read it at the moment, is he's been tackled by a player in the field of play and the ball carrying arm touched the ground. No try.

Fast and only off season for the South Cedar Abedos. Pain House obviously comes next year. But it's more around their plays that become available from November 1 and what the decisions they make around them. So these guys include the trail mutual, talus Duncan Campbell Graham. Obviously Cody Walker is not going to play beyond 2027 anyway. We expect him to re-sign for 2027. But those guys, Jimmy, what's the trail worth? What do they pay him? How much is talus Duncan going to get office from other clubs? There's talk of them being in Fizzavia, Willisson as well from the Broncos. So is that what they need? They need another middle fold when they've already got half, they've already got Murray. Do they need to put some money in their spine? They need some middle of the road, middles that they squeeze extra juice out of. Because they got them already and Kepi. He's in and out. I think Moaali was probably the one where they thought they thought he was in that yellow line. We don't have to pay them a massive amount of dough. We're going to get a $400,000 player

and we're going to train him. We're going to put him in a system and he's going to play like a six. And he's going to play next to Paine House? Yeah. So if you look at the makeup of their team, if you've got a middle that has Paine House and Cam Murray, then you just need to... Is Tavira to tell that guy? Well, no. I think the talus on decent wicked. Yeah, he is, yeah. Yeah. So the answer then therefore is no. That is more than enough with a little bit around them, I think, to sustain efforts in the middle and do enough in the middle. Like I say, you get those players that go above and beyond for you and they're not looking to play the main role within the pack. They don't need anybody else to play the main role within the pack because has some Murray. I've got that covered. I think they're not the only club to do this, but they're spying.

Like has Chopin Chains. I think the reason they lost the game on the weekend was Luzon Walker and Luzon Johnson. But on a whole of season approach, you go, who is their fallback? Like the Chopin Chains. Well, the interesting around that is Jyre Grey's locked in until the end of 29 or 2030. They've locked him down long term, but then he wasn't their first choice during the final series. Yeah, surely they'll reassign Duffdie. Yeah, you'd think so, wouldn't you? I'd just get the feeling that they rate Duffdie a little bit higher at the moment because there'd be ability to play at the back of shape. Jyre Grey is a fantastic mother, you know. But Jyre Grey wouldn't be on peanuts as well. He'd be on 6-6-50, something like that. So then what do you do with Jyre Grey? Do you have to try and move him on to then create more caps base? Because I'm sure a few teams would be keen for Jyre Grey. Jyre Grey would be perfect for a team of the Bulldogs probably. Well, maybe a bit similar to CT, but yeah, I don't know if you'd...

Well, Duffdie wasn't the four Bulldogs. Yeah. Yeah, yeah, yeah. That's cool. That didn't work out. There's more players where I left up list were Dave Fefeder's another one, Jack Watten's another one, Brent Smith's another one. Again, like the spine, the walk has got a year left, but then is it Aston Ward? Is he... I feel he's a one. Aston Ward, you think he's dead? You think he's dead? Are the two halves? There's choice. Yeah. No room for debate, no preseason, one free... Well, the feeling I get offline and... No, Sullivan will be with the backup. I think Wayne, he really rates him and at the back end he's been injured, so it's been a bit of a loss, but Aston Ward would be there now. He's there, Seven. Yeah. Yeah, the health, if they can nail down who their number one is, they're not a million miles away, themselves. They're really not there. Yeah, they're not that far away and I think if Walker

stays fit in that game and Johnson, I reckon they'd fancy it. What do you do with LaTrell Mitchell? He's obviously on over a million dollars a year at the moment. His next deal you wouldn't think he'll be on that same figure because he's now an out and out centre. LaTrell seems really happy playing under Wayne. The issue for South, he's only played probably 30 games over the last three seasons. He's not staying, he's not been able to stay fit, but what should South do with him? Should they make sure they keep LaTrell? I think he'll stay there. I'm not going to deal done. Obviously, LaTrell loves being coached by Wayne. Wayne understands how to get the best out of him. Yeah, he's been injured. The only reason he hasn't played he before is because of injuries. Wayne can get the best out of him. He understands he goes back to his farm. He's got all these other interests going on. But Wayne can control that and I think that will come into negotiations. We're quite happy for you to do ABC away from football and this is the offer and eventually get done. I'm still going to be a million

but I'll eventually get done. Like LaTrell probably isn't a machine in the situation where he just wants to purely maximize his earnings. It would be around, okay, well, I'm here itself to be a dual premier ship winner. I want to go the first side since 2014 and he's acutely aware that the more he takes, the less it is for everybody else. The negotiation will be a bit of an adult conversation between Icon. That's one of those deals that you go away in and LaTrell can sort this out. Don't necessarily need to bring in management. This is what we think it should look like. This reflects all those things that we've talked about. We know what you bring to the club. We love you. We're not going to disrespect you but we can't keep you on the tag that you are. Probably that a similar situation is going to happen at the Bulldogs with Matt Burton who's paid like a 5.8 but then now playing in the centre and we had Gus on the show basically said, well, that's going

to be reflected in the offer. I think we spoke about centres earlier in the piece and here be farmed with, we'll get well over a million dollars to play in the centres at the dolphins but that's, he plays a completely different role and a different level of contribution. The trail contributes by winning matches. For all what people say about his full level of contribution, he is that Ferrari that you take for drives on special occasions. This will be their starting 13 next year if everyone's healthy. You've got Matt Duff to hit the back, Alex Johnston and Campbell Graham on the wings, Jack Wharton and Trill Mitchell, your halves, Cody Walker, Ashton Ward in the halves, your front row pain halves, Brandon Smith and who's the other front rower, Tavira Tatole are probably. Then you've got Cam Murray at Locke, you've got David Feeder on an edge, Towers Duncan on an edge. That's a premiership winning roster, Flannier. That's a big roster.

And then there's not too many chips there. So it will be hard to renegotiate all those players because there's a lot of players there. That's a classy 42. Can they be in any team? If everyone's fit, yeah, healthy, there's no reason why not. It's just about keeping the star players fit for the majority of the season. They've had a year where the soft tissue injuries, there must be something. They must be assessing it. They must be doing a complete, oh, a forensic review, all the teams I've reviewed, they've got to do the forensics on, why is this keep happening to us? Because it's so far away and above the calf injuries, the other soft tissues, it's incredible. They've got to leave Hefron. It's been a disaster since they've moved to Hefron. No one's put the cares on him. I don't know. We have to go sage. We can't just leave. We are going to do that. Saging. Why can't you? Find a different facility, invests

in a different facility. What? Sounds a load to me. They've got billionaires at Lassian, bloke owns that Lassian one of Australia's richest companies in Australia. They're multi, multi, multi billionaires. You want to own a footy club and you want to make a difference to that footy club. You put your hand in your pocket and you invest in a facility. Where's this plot alone that you're going to pluck out your arson red fin? It doesn't have to be in red fin. They could train a red fin. They have red fin. They could train a red fin. They've got a field there red fin. They could do some training a red fin over. They used to train a red fin over. Where the hell are you going to get? Where's this much training facility? They've read what you just said. Red fin over would be an option. They've got owners who are wealthy. How long do you think it's going to be? Well, it's going to be an awful training facility. Charlie, I don't think it's the field's facility. Red fin over is there. It hasn't changed the use of the facilities there. But I'm sure they would have done some testing on the field. And as you said, they've got plenty of money. If the field is the issue, surely they'll dig it up. Yeah, they'll dig it up the field. They can't just move. Well, mate, that's just easy. They need a brand new field there.

It's any real estate agent out there. We're looking for what I'm a two-hole head. There's a lot of clubs like that in the area. They've got all the graves and clovelly on the cliffs there. Get rid of the graves, put a training facility there. We're talking about horns. You're talking about its horns. That's true. Jesus. Town planning with Charlie White. Yeah, in all seriousness though, this calf injury, they've actually got to do something now because they had 33% of all calf injuries for South Sydney Rabbidose. They had hamstrings injuries. They had so many soft tissue injuries. It's not just the first year of happening. They sacked their entire performance staff during the off season. Yeah. They put the blame on them. Well, the same thing's happened again. Yeah, and it's not. You could have a look at their squad and look at the age of their squad and say, okay, they're 30 plus and it does happen. Carves injuries. But it's happening to some of the younger ones as well. So obviously, they'll have a good look at it. There's a lot of testing done.

They do what they call a Clegg test on the ground where Hammer drops and sees how softer it is. They want to have this consistency across that field. They don't want to have their main field different to their training field. So the surfaces are the same. South Sydney would be doing all of that. So they'll have a really good look at what their cross training, what they're doing in the gym, continue what to do, doing on the field and suppose what they're doing on their days off and everything will come into play because it's been a big factor this year. There's lots of games. We spoke about the final stuff now. Should we talk about the West Tigers? Because it's a pretty big story, I think, from Danny Wiedler over the weekend that there's going to be basically, they need to get new assistant coach to replace John Morris and there's going to be a panel that decides who the best candidates are and then has to present the possible, I guess, to Benji Marshall and then he picks who that is. But he doesn't have a control over who the candidates are. And then they've also brought in a coaching director, a pathways coaching director. Halfway, there's a difference between

yes, but if you read the job ad, Jimmy, there's, yeah, they put the ad out there on LinkedIn. If you want to apply, just jump on there. I'll pull it up, but it's pretty big. First of all, it's focused on the assistant coach side of things. What are your thoughts on that funnel? It's interesting one because you've been doing pathway, especially for the West Tigers. That's a big job. You got out at Campbelltown, to big area, West, they've got their own junior rep program. They've got Matty's car, SG Ball, New South like Jersey flag, New South Wales Cup. And then the Tigers have got very, very similar. So it's a big club to be pathways and something else. Pathways is a big job on its own. So assistant coach, funner, in your time in the NRL, do you always pick them? Yes. Yep. I want to went to this, when I started the sharks, well, when I was a assistant coach, to rickie at the roosters and then went with him at the sharks. And then when Ricky left, I stayed. And then I employed Steve Price from the dragons. He got the sat, he was head coach of the dragons

and got sacked and then put him on and he was outstanding for us. And then over that period of time, he was there for most of the time. But yeah, I picked my assistant coaches and a lot of the time, it was interesting, some of them stood out. Like I just found a good feel about him when I spoke to him. But I also, when I'm picking an assistant coach, I need to make sure they're not they're different than me and they're going to give me a different version of, or they're going to assist me. What I perceive in my weaknesses, they're going to be their strength. Did you always have a relationship with them or with some of them, you just sort of like, not math for the first time, but no like the relationship was established upon working together. I know a lot of coaches take, they come with a bit of a team and they like to work. No, I didn't have anything to do with pricey pride of that. You just saw something. He worked with Wayne underneath Wayne at the dragons. And then when Wayne left, he overtook that job and then he got

terminated and then I got him on. I had nothing really to do with him. I just met him a couple of times, got a good feel for it. He worked at the dragons with one of my head of performance as Andrew Gray, Sima. You know, you had a performance, you know, you need to get that right person for you. You know, there's going to do that good job for you. I feel their head of performance is probably more important than any other person in the organization. So I had Andrew Gray, who I think is one of the best in the league, all my time. And then he came to the dragons for a year or two, but he's so crucial in the whole, you know, to get players fit. What's going on in the direction shared, how the assistant coaches go on that's so crucial that role? It's interesting for Benji this, that he's sort of had the decision taken off his hand. I think there's a, there's a a theory internally there at the Tigers that maybe that O5 group have too much power. And Benji's brought into many of his mates like you think Pat Richards is your head of football. That's his mate. Brett Hodson, that's his mate. Chris Higerton, that's his mate. You know, and I think they

obviously want to get a fresh voice in there and someone who isn't part of that O5 Tigers group. But it's a sign to me that maybe they're losing a little bit of faith in Benji, in my opinion. Yeah, well, it's interesting, isn't it? You know, it's, well, the Tigers and just how things get out of that joint, that organization is, is it consumed in itself? The fact that this, we know this, yeah, to fair point, you know, this not the first time it's happened. It appears from what we are being presented with that Benji doesn't like to be challenged. That's evident in the case of John Morris, but also you go back to fair, they're in Robbie Farr, yeah. Was the assistant, it was part of that O5 team and they had an inability to work out a difference of opinion. And you know, with the story coming out about John Morris, it seemed as if, like I was so confused about how that relationship broke down, that like they just couldn't reach an agreement on what

would the best cause forward was. Now, like the Tigers have a number of outstanding issues, both with and without the football intent and let's look at some of the processes of decision making this year that have been well publicised, like the the dewey situation. You know, it just doesn't seem to, it doesn't seem to, I can't figure it out. I can't figure out how that relationship has gone, I mean, I can't, we can't move forward from here on in. Mate, you look around like Wayne, Robbo, Craig, Ivan, they've all got good people around them. You need good people around, that was one of the things I always made sure they had good people around. You can't do it on your own. No matter how good you are, you can't do it on your own. It is too big a job. You know, you've got 30 something plays, you're talking about a club that's

from Campbelltown, you know, to Asheville, to the city, you've got juniors all over the country. You've got to get your side ready every week, a selection, media, all that sort of stuff. It is impossible to do on your own. You know, you need good people around you. How would you, it's an interesting case with Benji because his pathway to head coach was something that we've not seen before, or certainly not in the modern era in terms of the ex-lugion just taking over. It's sort of been very creative, manly with Karen Forron as well, hasn't it? Yeah, yeah. Early days of that. It was a different situation that Benji had. It was a two-year deal, assistant, Shane's only having me up last year or so. Yeah, obviously, yeah, man. And maybe, you know, the old way is the wrong way. Who knows? But it still remains to be seen if it will be effective or not. But maybe he was giving too much power and not enough help in the first place, finally, with those good people around him. I think maybe they'd look back and go

to have their time again with Richardson. I still think he's a fantastic operator. Don't quite understand how and why that relationship ended, but for you, like, I'm thinking back to my time at the Dragons and you were there as the assistant coach, decision-making authority got taken away from Paul McGregor, me and McGregor. And it was sort of the beginning of the end. And obviously, you were there. You were probably sent that as well that this really isn't how a football club should be operating. Do we get the sense that this could be happening to Benji? Yeah, I'm not sure. Obviously, he's been done in the off season. Maybe they're putting certain, they want to put some good people around. They see that obviously, I reckon Benji can coach and maybe West Tigers see that he is a good coach. And there might be some holes that they need to fill and plug. Yeah, exactly right. If you start, Mary, the Mary one that they started taking

in season, they started taking the power of selection, the data selection panel that was on the to select the team each weekend. And obviously, that was the beginning of the end. But, you know, I look at it for a positive way for Benji that this, they could see, okay, what happened with the do and everything that's happened this year. These are the holes in our organisation. And this is one of them that they want to try and fill and puts a support around Benji because obviously, I think he must be able to coach. He's done a good job. They're having one football games, but whether they employed people that, you know, he resmites and the clubs have made a challenge. It's probably going to be a positive. It's probably on Benji to be receptive to it as well. You know, you've got to be receptive to it. If the club are doing this, you've got to embrace it. Yeah. And not everybody needs to. What do you mean for the club didn't do something?

Then he'd be saying, yeah, the club said just as bad as everyone else. You know, they're doing nothing to support the coach. I thought, so look at it as a measure to support the coach. Do you think he needs somebody with experience? Who's first name Shane? No, who knows? He's saying Richard's not coming back. Why do you and Richard miss it in the body of the assistant coach putting the cones up? No comment. No comment. No comment. No comment from Shane funny. Hey, I got it saying for you. You know what I mean? The general manager of football role in the NRL is very bizarre to me because in NBA, the general manager of football of general manager of basketball would be in that situation. He is the big dog who decides to hire and fire the coach. He decides around which players they bring in the trades are going to make. He runs the whole organisation. But for us in the NRL, we've got this role where at the Bulldogs, he's the big dog and he makes all the decisions feel good. At the Roosters, it's a guy like Mitchell Orbison who only recently retired. No, it's an

important. But the actual guy who's in the team, let me get you to get me into my side. I'll explain. Sorry. So you got someone like Mitchell Orbison, his general manager of football, Pat Richards, the consistency of role doesn't exist in the NRL. Whereas we need to make it, and I reckon in five years time, we'll have every general manager of football will be the big dog at the club. Right now we've got some who book buses, some who make all the things that we're going to play movement. And it's bizarre. This is a really important role in an organisation. And that's where Benji needs help. The general manager of footy, having Pat Richards there, and I don't know Pat Richards very well, or he could be fantastic, but he's not very experienced. Well, and if you look at the organisation, Charlie, what are they lacking experience? It's an inexperienced head coach with inexperienced assistants and inexperienced in that general manager of football role. You're right. Even go down to, if you look at Melbourne, you think the

pinup guy is coach Bellamy, right? He's running the show. He's got an amazing general manager of football in Frank Penexy. That's the way it is. And I don't know if the tyres and the Benji approach is a little bit old school, where maybe Benji is trying to be the old Wayne Bennett, the old Cyr Alex Ferguson of like, I'm the top of the food chain. And sport is changing and is evolving, but even at Pemrath. Mac Cameron is usually influential. Huge influential in, and takes pressure of Ivan. Yeah. That's what the role, that's what that role is there to do. And yeah, the tyre gets car instead of the way it is doesn't work. It lacks experience. People that have been, let's go to the do-e suspension, like that's the one that springs to mind. Experience people would have stepped in and gone, like, whoa, hang on a minute, the team sheet comes through and they would have gone, we're not

signing off on this. That's where the experience or that general manager of football would have been given the team sheet by Benji, or maybe emailed it probably, and he was gone. Why are we naming Andrews? And why is like, Andrew, you understand the shit fight this is going to cause. Do we fight, hang on, if do we fight it and win? What's doing here? Like that experience would have just not let that, it just wouldn't have transpired that way. It wouldn't have transpired that way, wouldn't have been the mess with Do-E, it wouldn't have been a shocking way to debut in the NRL, it wouldn't have led to more and more conversations, it wouldn't have led to the the tale between the legs of the U10 of Do-E coming back into the team, no, an experienced operator would have just gone, I'm not putting this, I'm not, it's Tuesday two, four o'clock, I think we're not putting this out, mate. And if we are, you go and tell Do-E

not playing, don't fight the charge, or don't give Do-E and Andrews a debut, Jay-Z, experience would have stopped that. Yeah, you had him set right, I agree. You just need those experienced people around you to give you some advice, you know, and I've had him all my career, you know, I have some really good people around me, sharks and the dragons, and you definitely need him, you definitely need him, because you can't do everything, I keep saying that, you can't do everything, you can't be across everything, and you need those people, just to say, hey, flutter, you know, what are you reckon about this, all, hey, did you think about this, or have you thought what might happen? Yes, have we forecast the consequence of this, like, something as simple as that team sheet, like I mentioned. Well said Jimmy, you've been on fire today, my friend. You came here after going to caterpillar club last night, getting in the front seat of a taxi, and you came here with big opinions, you backed up, you did a great job. You just want to call the show down, do you want to get to bed? We've got Pat Cummins coming in. Pat Cummins about to be in here, the great

cricketer, not so common art podcast, not sticky cricket, keeping it cricket, keeping it cricket, great show. I just want to keep you here for it. We're going to have a meeting after this as well, just to annoy you, because you're worse off than me, I think, I'm fine, I'm fine, look at me, by the way, I think people are on their phones too much, getting the front seat e-cab, and have a bit of a conversation with your taxi drivers. And tell him to take you through Mac as any more. He asked for my pink code as well. No, definitely wasn't over $100. But yeah, Charlie, great to see you at Flano, hopefully the knee recovers well, and I'm going to see you back on board with us. Thanks Jimmy. This podcast is bought to you by our good friends at Labbroke's Charlie, a Sydney Derby of sorts with the Cornelis sharks heading back to Aliens Stadium to taking on the Sydney roosters. What do the team at Labbroke's think about this one? The thing is going to be a close game, Jimmy, they've got the Sydney roosters, $1.46 favorites, the Cornelis sharks are paying $2.75.

The line is seven and a half points, the roosters coming off four straight losses. That's a lot, Jimmy. But this game really could go either way, where are you going for your same game, Malti? Yeah, I'm going to back to Cornelis sharks with the line, so plus seven and a half points, and then I'm going to throw in a couple of any time trascurs. They are Ronaldo, Maltala and Robert Toya. I like it, Jimmy. That one is paying $8.56. Please guys, get around this game, show up to it, because it's going to be an absolute cracker. Yeah, and we'll be even better when this Malti comes in.
