Would a Browns win or blowout loss on Sunday have a bigger impact?

Nick Wilson, Jonathan Peterlin, we do have the coach's show coming up at seven o'clock tonight. Playing to get to in case you missed it and the like. Much to get to. But you thought this question in the pre show meeting and I'm curious to get your answer because the whole point you know we had Lindsey Rhodes on a 320 of Sumer sports. Her whole point was there's just not a lot of known about the Browns even on the defenses. Good as it was last year. Yeah. Miles Garrett swapped out for Jared verse who we've never seen in a different context than LA and certainly Mike Routinburg is a brand new play caller. So given the unknown, what would have a bigger impact on how you think of the Browns beating Jacksonville or losing bad. It's got to be beaten Jacksonville. I know week one everyone's gonna be like, well, week one is weird and games get sloppy.

1:01But you'd be the team of Jacksonville that won 13 games last year. And I think there's a lot of people that believe in that game thinking to themselves. Then all right, we should there's a lot of easier games on this schedule that we should win. But then you're in play for some of the harder games as well. All of a sudden then Tampa Bay and week two doesn't feel like you're a herculean effort. Yeah. I think it's just drastically different between a loss that I think a lot of people could see coming. How you win is going to matter and how Jacksonville plays in this is going to matter. But I think what's interesting is I'm in this spot of I've locked in a Jacksonville week one victory. And some of that is the unknown. Some of that is I think the Browns are I think people are acting as if all of those unknowns are going to come up bust week one. There's one unknown. I think that's going to potentially come up bust week one and it's to Sean Watson. Even bad. I'm just genuinely excited to see everything else. But like I also think a lot of it is Jacksonville's defense was so reliant on turnovers last

2:01year. And we've seen this the one Joe Woods defense that was good was freakish, a freakishly good at generating turnovers. And we saw how quickly that regresses. I know some teams can keep it up. But by the way, the Bears defense is also really good. And that always turns around. I'd have to look up with Jacksonville's numbers with turnovers where I thought that oddly enough that was one of the things they had them, but they didn't have them at the rate where then it was such an absurd discrepancy. Barnwell's always big on this of like the idea that you might turn over turn over margin in general typically comes back down to earth. And that is not a thing of you. If you have an absurd one-sided turnover margin, that's going to hit you in the face in a pretty large way. I thought Jacksonville was immune to that relative to what they did last year. In fairness, nobody's get looks is off the charts as the Bears do. Because the Bears, you compare anything to the Bears and it's going to look silly. The Bears is dominated by it. But like I, I don't know, I think losing badly. Maybe it's because I think the Browns are going to be good, but like Mike, I chip,

3:02sent in earlier today. And I think chip has been trying to keep me grounded, right? He keeps telling me how down he is in this Browns team. And I get it. I understand that it's hard for people to compartmentalize their dislike, distrust, disinterest in Dishon Watson with how they feel about the rest of the team. We've talked about that a few times. I can do that. I think you can win in spite of Dishon in the short term. Eventually, I think you're going to have to get over to Shadour or Dylan or hell, anybody dead. James Winston, if he want to trade for him, I know he just signed an extension. I'm just being facetious or hyperbolic. That's the one. But yeah, I think them losing, chip has them losing 34 to 10. I would be shocked. I would be crestfallen. It would force me to, oh geez, I wouldn't be shocked. 34 to 10. It's a blowout, obviously, but yeah, I'm not going to leave the, I'm not going to leave the game being like I can't believe that just happened. If you lose 34 to 10 and Dishon Watson starts week two, I riot. I mean, a 24 point difference is obviously not the expected.

4:04No one saying that I think this is going to happen. But would I, would I be more surprised by a 34 to 10 loss than I would a 34 to 10 win? No, not at all. You win the game 34 10 against Jacksonville. I will be gobsmacked. You lose the game 34 10. I'll turn around and say I guess a lot of people are right about Jacksonville and a lot of people are right about what they think about this browns seem currently being. Two on six, four, seven, four, double, nine, two, which would surprise you more. 34 10 loss or 34 10 win? Probably the loss. Yeah. Yeah. I'd be really shocked if 5 to Sean dominated enough and the, and everyone was able to put up 34 against Jacksonville and then be able to do their part. It's not crazy to think that the defense couldn't hold Jacksonville to 10 points. That part of it's not crazy. Well, and I, so you're right about the Dishon part of this. I guess why I said that the loss would shock me more is it's just week one is kind of flukish that if you're ever going to beat this Jacksonville team 34 to 10, it would make sense that it's week one with all the unknown and having the full off season to go for it

5:08and Todd Munkin. I think I, I wouldn't be surprised if Todd Munkin looks at this as a chance to tell the rest of the NFL, you know, hey, it's time to trust and Todd. I imagine that's what he's trying to do. It's just whether or not he's got the talent to be able to pull that off again. I Jacksonville. That's a top eight scoring defense and scoring offense last year. They were going to both sides of the ball. They could do it in a million different ways. I, I don't know that this is going to be the ascension of Trevor Lawrence to some hip-hop projecting. It's a really good football team though. Yeah, and I think the thing with Trevor Lawrence is it feels like he's the, I, he's very similar to what people perceive about Baker, which is one great year and then a step back here. Now Baker stuff revolves around injuries as well. Well, even Baker, though, last year could be considered a step back year. But for the first after week six, he was the front runner for Wig MVP. But like with Trevor Lawrence, I look at him and think I don't know that I trust him to be good and great in consecutive seasons. And I know, I know, honestly, I probably should trust that more because I think Liam Cohen is a good coach. I think he's a really good coach, but I think the quarterback matters.

6:10Who plays, you know, like, listen, I, that's why I want to put this because I want to make sure I give Trevor Lawrence the respect. I don't think a great coach can make up for a quarterback who's just an inconsistent human being on the field. You can, you can help him. Sure. You can help him better situations to be in. But in the end, if you're an inconsistent quarterback, you're just an inconsistent quarterback. Okay, but there also is that something we've already touched on a lot today. It feels like it, but there's that environment conversation that exists for Trevor Lawrence in a way that I find interesting. They have a decent offensive line, but they have three different receivers in Parker, Washington, Brian Thomas and Jacobi Myers that that's a really, really good receiving room. Parker, Washington was incredible for the final five, six games last year. I think the problem is none of those guys have done it for a full year. I mean, Jacobi did, but I think it was about time. Brian Thomas had a good, rookie year. Yeah, really good rookie year. I think that was like 12 or 1300 yards. It's rookie season. Like, if you just say, like, I do think, like, and I think Brenton strange is a little

7:11underrated, I think they have four good pass catchers, but I don't think they have guys that elevate the quarterback. Well, and, and okay, so that would be a feather in Trevor Lawrence's cap then. Like if we're trying to figure out exactly what they are, you have us 1300 yards, 1282, his rookie season. He obviously dropped back a little bit last year, but like between the trio of it, if you're trying to take things away from Trevor Lawrence, a guy is accomplishments, you would go towards the environment argument that we've been discussing. And you would say it is just the three of them that are uplifting Trevor Lawrence. Because really, we haven't seen Trevor Lawrence be this what he was last year without having that type of arsenal at his disposal. Beating Jacksonville or losing badly, which would impact or have a bigger impact on your thoughts on this Brown's team. And we're going to try and lock it in.
