Cleopatra VII was the last active pharaoh of Ancient Egypt, ruling from 51 BC until her death in 30 BC. She was a member of the Ptolemaic dynasty, which was a Greek dynasty that ruled Egypt after the death of Alexander the Great. Cleopatra was known for her intelligence, beauty, and diplomatic skills. She was a skilled politician and strategist who was able to maintain Egypt's independence in a time of great turmoil. She was also a patron of the arts and sciences, and her court was renowned for its scholars and poets. Cleopatra was married to her brother Ptolemy XIII and later to Julius Caesar and Mark Antony. She died by her own hand, allegedly by allowing a poisonous snake to bite her.
