Historian and biographer
Hugh Trevor-Roper was a British historian and biographer. He was born in 1914 and died in 2003. Trevor-Roper was a prominent figure in British intellectual life and was known for his erudite and engaging writing style. He was a fellow of the Royal Society of Literature and a member of the Council of the British Academy. Trevor-Roper was also a prolific writer and published numerous books on history, politics, and culture. He was a strong advocate for classical education and was a vocal critic of modernity. Trevor-Roper was awarded the Order of the Companions of Honour in 1998 for his services to literature.
