John Masefield
British poet and sailor
John Masefield was a British poet, novelist, and sailor. He is best known for his poetry, particularly his collection Sea Songs. Masefield was also a sailor and wrote extensively about the sea. He was appointed as the Poet Laureate of the United Kingdom from 1936 until his death in 1967.
