John Somerset

John Somerset was the Lord Protector of England from 1653 to 1658. He was a military leader and politician who played a key role in the English Civil War. Somerset was the son of Robert Somerset, 1st Earl of Worcester, and was educated at Christ Church, Oxford. He served as a member of Parliament and later became the Lord Protector of England after the death of Oliver Cromwell.
