Historical figure and governess
Margaretta Eagar was a governess to the last Romanov Tsars of Russia in the early 20th century. She was one of thousands of Irish people who emigrated to Imperial Russia. Eagar's life and experiences are not well-documented, but she is recognized as a significant figure in Irish history. Her story is the subject of Byrne's book, Anarchy & Authority: Irish Encounters with Romanov Russia.
