Iranian Shia cleric and theologian
Mohammad Reza Mahdavi Kani was an Iranian Shia cleric and theologian. He was a prominent figure in the Iranian Revolution and served as the chairman of the Islamic Consultative Assembly. Kani was a strong advocate for the establishment of an Islamic republic in Iran and was a key figure in the development of the country's post-revolutionary government. He was also a vocal critic of Western influence in Iran and was a strong supporter of the country's Islamic identity. Kani died in 1984.
