# 727 - Too $hort on Why “Blow the Whistle” Never Goes Away

I finally sit down with one of my all-time favorite rappers, Too $hort. We talk about him learning the record business before he was old enough to drink, selling homemade tapes in Oakland, turning $15K into $60K in a week, why signing with a major label was worth it even if he could’ve made more money independently, hanging with Tupac before he was famous, the stories behind his Too $hort persona, and how “Blow the Whistle” gave an already legendary career another life. We also get into E-40, Snoop, Ice Cube, Mount Westmore, sex, pimping, staying relevant for 40 years, and his new album Sir Too $hort, Vol. 2 (Drink and Smoke).
