Welcome to the Big Beds on campus podcast. This is the 6th gear your one-stop shop for everything group of 6 football. I'm Mike Alvarez. I'm joined by Duck. And we're gonna jump right into our favorite segment of this young season. And of course, that is guys naming dudes because there are still superstars. I understand everybody wants to point to the power 4 and the power 2 and look at mock drafts. And the transfer portal has turned G6 football into a AAA farm system for the big boys. But I assure you, there are some dudes amongst us. Did you see that guy? That was nuts man! Both of those are crazy! What's his name? Duck get us started with someone out west who is turning heads and I'm sure he's not long to be playing for the Oregon State Beavers. But man, we're gonna enjoy him this fall. Yeah, they have a freshman receiver, Jesse Legri. And he's caught 13 passes over the first two games of the season for 376 yards and three touchdowns.

He will not be at Oregon State next year. I can guarantee you that. Against Texas Tech at home, eight catches for 240. Just completely shredded the Texas Tech defense. And he did it on the road in week one against Houston. Every time he touches the football, this guy is a threat to not only register an explosive play, but he can take it to the house. And he has a major, major weapon and a complete dude. I think we have to have some kind of dude rules in place where if someone is a double dude in one month, they get in shrines. Like they've automatically hit cult hero status, a cult Brennan, Jordan Lynch, Adam LaFever and Ashton Jenze. Because this next guy you're gonna mention, I feel like he is on the upswing. And if he takes this team to bowl eligibility, he's gonna be in shrined as an all-time dude. Well, I mean, simple fact of the matter breezy is that if this guy was starting last year instead of splitting time with TJ Finley, at Georgia State, the Panthers would have won a ton more games. Cameron Brown, the quarterback for the Georgia State Panthers, is just... He's been incredible. His poise in the pocket, he can make the throws, he can take off and scramble with it.

13 for 23 for 253 yards last week on the road against Kenisostate. Annie chipped in 62 Russian yards. And they just completely dominated Kenisostate on the road. As nine and a half point dogs, they were never trailing. They were never outside the number. And Ken Brown gives these guys such a punch offensively. And he's really got the confidence to command the huddle. I really think Georgia State is going to be a tough out in Sun Belt Play weekend and a week out. And it really starts and ends with this guy. Cameron Brown is such a dude. For my first dude, I'm gonna get a little bit emotional because I could have turned my back on the FAULs. I could have turned my back on Kaden Belt Camp, but I didn't. I stuck it out. Even week one, they played 15 competitive minutes against Florida and then absolutely got flushed out of the swamp. But I stuck with him. They hit the money line last week against Navy. They did everything that I hoped. And critically, Mr. Belt Camp did not turn the ball over.

Zero interceptions, five touchdowns, 27 for 32, 386 yards. That kitley offense was singing. He was slinging it all over the yard. They even were able to hold off a late rally by Navy to win that game by eight. I think the ceiling is high for them. I think they can get to a bowl. You got the shoe a bowl this week. There's a lot of excitement around the program. Kaden Belt Camp, dude, when he's not turning the ball over. Number two, I hope I'm pronouncing this guy's first name right. I'm gonna double check on it. Sebastian Broden from Akron. Sebastian spelled C-I-B-A-S-T-I-O-N. This guy is an absolute dude. And a surprise dude, which is our favorite kind of dude. We thought that this was gonna be the Reese Puff and Barger show. He becomes ineligible at the 11th hour. This kit gets thrown into the fire. All he's done is complete 83% of his passes on the season. He's a great rusher. His upside was evident in the last game. 227 yards through the air. 71 yards rushing. 4 total touchdowns. No interceptions. The middle class, even if there is one in the Mac, feels like it's wide open.

I know that Akron took a pounding in the opener. And there's questions about that defense. And they're well deserved. But if this can just be a fun, foreignate kind of team, not necessarily get to a bowl. But just give me some entertaining football on those Tuesday and Wednesday nights in the action season. I will be a happy camper. And this guy's gonna do a lot of it. What do you think about him? Kind of being the trigger man for this offense. Kind of find a diamond in the rough out of nowhere to replace Puff and Barger. Well, of course they did. And I thought it was really interesting how he looked in the opener against Wake Forest. And then they come back against a poor FCS team. But you kind of saw what you needed to see to give Akron the confidence in having a fighting chance offensively with Puff and Barger out of the game and out of the off the team. Being ruled in eligible, you could have assumed that this team was just gonna fold up the tent and run the ball between the tackles and not really have the explosive passing offense or any sort of competency at quarterback. And for ought and gives them a chance and you look up and down the schedule.

Next week after they after they go to Minnesota this week, next week, they host you an LV who is awful. That is a game they can win. They go to Central Michigan who can hardly get a first down against an FCS team. That's a game they can win. Eastern Michigan at home is a game they can win. There's a lot of winable games on the schedule and you know you look at Akron and that middle to bottom portion of the Mac where there's about five bad teams. UMass has ascended out of that tier but bowling green Buffalo Central Michigan. There's just not a lot of wild factor Kent State, Paul State. Akron has a chance now with brought net quarterback to at least be able to move the ball, keep defenses on us, still be able to use the effective running game. I wouldn't be stunned if this is a very entertaining team and a team that might have some value on their overs in games until the books are able to catch up with the level of offense of potency that Akron now has. Justin's time for football season. Bet sink is back in the action app and it's better than ever. The true triple option. It's kind of like we don't know who to tackle you better stop the apex of the offense. You're stopping us now we're on a roll. I talk it is triple option time for those listening in for the first time we're each going to give out three picks hence the triple elements and you're going to start with North Dakota State and it's appropriate for me because I just bumped into Craig bowl in Washington DC at a protect college sports events three time national champion at the F.C. S level and the S.U. did incredible work in Wyoming. One hell of a handshake the guy is a man's man I told him I loved the way that your teams play football you ran it down there throughout you played gritty defense and this north to go to state team has not shrunk from their opportunity you know there's all these questions about what does it take to go from F.C. S. to F.D.S. is there a talent efficiency is it you know are people flying around a little bit faster and all of a sudden the lights are too bright.

Well they did was basically take it to Air Force which was a team that we really loved to win the Mountain West Conference and now they're in a position very quickly to start laying the lumber to some of these teams that are overwhelmed but with the bison are putting on the turf you don't mind laying a big number here and you're going all the way up to the verge of four touchdowns. Oh for sure I am with north to go to state and you know we saw it was Sacramento State last week being unable to handle the physicality that was presented by Fresno State the bulldog rushing game average five point eight yards per carry on the ground Fresno scored on eight straight possessions after an opening possession being stopped on downs Sacramento State's defense is so undersized and they just purely do not have the depth or the bodies to be able to compete in the trenches with the double tight power running sets that North Dakota State is going to roll out there the quarterback for Sacramento State is still out Carson Conclan so they're turning to back up Jackson Charmin who was never more than the third string option at Idaho State during his tenure there and he really struggled last week completing just 15 out of 31 with an interception.

This team doesn't have the offensive weaponry to be able to stretch the field against North Dakota State I do not believe they have the confidence to be able to pass protect and hold up in the trenches. And one may get scared off on this play based on North Dakota State kind of fading in the fourth quarter at Air Force in the elevation but that's just simply not going to be a factor here you saw that defense wear down a little bit but they were playing at 7000 feet and it was something they just were not accustomed to North Dakota State playing at that level of elevation. Well it's not an issue here the bison have a buy week on deck they have nothing to look ahead to should be a full go with getting their quarterback Nathan Hayes some really nice passing reps I look for the same type of explosivity or the same type of explosiveness that Fresno State was able to find against Sacramento State's defense. Sac State has one explosive rush in 51 attempts against FPS competition nothing that they did and nothing that they showed in their home opener against Mississippi Valley State really moves the needle for me.

They've got one offensive touchdown does Sacramento State in two games against Eastern Michigan and Fresno and I just do not believe in the offensive output. I think we'll see some short fields for North Dakota State they have a massive special teams advantage this should be a score that is very similar to what we saw last week with Sacramento State and Fresno State I think the bison win this game going away I'm happy to lay anything under four touchdowns. Up first for me new mexico plus 22 and a half at Oklahoma our resident producer is also a new mexico resident so shout out to producer David. Going with the lowboats here sandwich spot for Oklahoma for starters off the Michigan lost they got Georgia on deck and the bigger question at least in my eyes having watched that game and had some faith in what the Oklahoma defense could do I went on the live show on Saturday instead of think it's 24 points they're going to cover this game that was true they did not get a 20. They did not get a 24 points because John but here is got some real issues and is short to intermediate passing game he's still hidden some some deep shots you know breaking the pocket keeping his eyes downfield doing some things from an explosive standpoint but when you look at the line of scrimmage to 19 yards downfield his blended pf f grade out of 100 is 46.8 zero big time throws and to turn over worthy plays he just has real issues dissecting the game.

Dissecting the defense being decisive with the football getting it out of his hands and being hyper accurate and in my opinion at least he still at his best when he can use his legs a lot and he hasn't been able to do that effectively thus far this year in coach act as defense coordinator spends to whiskey. They do a great job in raining in mobile quarterbacks they did last year when you go through game by game and then you look at the open area in central Michigan a team that wanted to rely on not one but two quarterbacks to run the football 18.8 carries out of their quarterback room for a two. In the back room for a total of 25 yards when new mexico has the football they're also going to play two quarterbacks but what I know for sure is that they're going to play a snails pace 125th and seconds per play at 31.7 which puts them in the range of what Ohio state was like last year so it just gives you a feel for if they can have any success against this Oklahoma defense they're going to absolutely bleed this clock and I'm going to finish the pitch in this way coach act has an incredible track record when he's a big dog and he's really punching up. Covered last year against mesh Michigan catch in 34 and a half points they beat UCLA outright in 2025 as well but when you go back a little bit further I think this is more applicable to what this matchup is between the low bows and the sooners as Idaho said coach he kept it within 10 at number three Oregon and Eugene year before that covered it Cal Berkeley in his first season in Idaho by the way he played back to back games getting right off the tarmac as as the coach there for the vandals played against wazoo and in the back room for the first time in the game.

He's a big dog against wazoo and Indiana covered both prep matters when you're punching up track record matters in my opinion he cares a lot about this game he has his teams ready to go and they fight for 60 minutes so I think being over three touchdowns is enough for me. What do you think about this spot with a team that certainly is still kind of searching for their offensive identity as they played musical chairs a quarterback but a coach that you at least you can agree that we can rely on. I think you can absolutely rely on Jason Ackon one thing that New Mexico will not be as they will not be intimidated they will have a belief that they belong on the same field we saw this play out when New Mexico went to the big house last season to open the season at Michigan they were 34 and a half point dogs. Everybody thought this team was going to be complete garbage and they played toe to toe with Michigan for three quarters. I do think they are they are they are lining up against a very very strong defense and they're going to have to get creative and maybe pull a play out of the back of the playbook and get one past Oklahoma in order to really set the tone for what this game could be but if they can run the football at all I think they have a real chance to keep this game competitive and keep it within this 22 and a half point number.

You know Oklahoma's offense just kind of looks jerky it doesn't look like what we saw it at the beginning of last year and we saw a tier at Washington state be just so dynamic with his legs and being able to execute on the downfield throws and was who was scoring a bunch of points and it just has not really manifested itself here at Oklahoma it was really disappointing to see. The game is going to see the year in the deer and headlights look last week at Michigan and he struggled he was confused he couldn't make the quick decisions with the ball in his hand and it really cost the team an opportunity to go in there and win a game that they were expected to win and so I do think that there are some things with Oklahoma that really need to be ironed out. I don't know if it gets ironed out quite this week or not and the situation does call for a play on New Mexico with the sandwich look ahead spot with Oklahoma and who they have on deck. I think you're getting the full Monty from from New Mexico.

The deck thrives in this role as a big dog he goes in there the team will have mental toughness they will be well prepared and prior New Mexico teams would always struggle when they would go to boys and they didn't have the belief they would get overwhelmed by the environment they would get rattled in the cold or with the bluter for what the lights late at night whatever the situation was New Mexico was so unreliable in prior seasons as a big underdog because they just didn't have the genus aqua that you need in order to go in there and stay in toe to toe and that is something that Jason act has really delivered everywhere he's coached is that he gets his guys to believe that they belong on the same field and generally the play is elevated so I do like this to be a situation where New Mexico plays some real fun football if they fade down the stretch you kind of have to live with that but I think this will be a real fun game for two quarters and more often than not they should stay within the 22 and a half.

I never thought it would be a fit of complete that duck would bring a little genus a quads of the pod but I gotta say I love it thank you for also giving me a little wind in my sales on that pick I agree new Mexico used to take a dump in their silver bridges every time they played in the big game not anymore they they certainly have the confidence you just watch some of the pressers with the guy has as the kids would say or he has the energy and the commands that they're gonna follow him and if he says. We can compete with this Oklahoma team I think they're going to believe him are your next pick here you're talking about a game between case eight and two lane and what's interesting is that there's reasons for optimism for the green wave they made the quarterbacks which back to some on the. And they go to jail in Lucas transfers in I know that they built the offense prior to the foot injury to the court basically to build the entire car around that starting running back well he comes in goes for 200 yards against south Alabama. The issue though and the reason why I'm leaning in your direction is this defense is kind of a mess like south Alabama is not a team that I think of as having a super high offensive ceiling I know they only scored 24 points in that game but bishop Davenport absolutely dimes them up defensively 296 for the air to touchdowns what do you think every Johnson's going to do on this one.

Well I mean I truly do not believe that too Lane has what's needed here along the defensive front in order to be able to really provide any pressure against every Johnson I don't believe that will see too Lane register the negative plays in the havoc plays to keep Kansas state off schedule. To Lane has just the one sack on the season against south Alabama and just five total tackles for loss registered. And their defense is 130 second nationally in havoc registered one thing that I've been so impressed with with Kansas state and I kind of thought we might see some of this consistency offensively with Colin Klein back in the fold. They've been very efficient situationally third down red zone it's been great 11 red zone trips 11 scores nine touchdowns and 71% third down conversion percentage on offense. Every Johnson's been great 8 1 1 1 2 yards per rushing attempt he's completing 67% he did have the bad interception at the end of the first half against was who probably got a little bit too cute. With the entire offense and what they were trying to do there I'm a big believe we're just getting to the half and this is kind of an epidemic with coaches anymore it doesn't matter if there's 15 seconds or 55 seconds coaches just do not get to the half.

And so I partially put the responsibility on him but he's going to try to go out and execute on what the offense was trying to do. Kansas state their 12th nationally in success rate very consistent in running the football well in early downs and that has led to the success on third down because they're not in third and long two lanes defensive success rate in early downs is just 111th nationally and they are just not able to get teams to be behind the sticks. You look at the two teams that two lane has faced this season Duke and South Alabama they've they've not been necessarily great in early downs and have still converted a high percentage on third down. I believe Kansas state will register the explosive plays the running game has been exceptional every Johnson has elevated his level of play. The clincher for me is in Colin Klein's press conference he was asked about two lane coming into their building in 2022 and beating Kansas state and he absolutely said we remember it we he made mention of that game they are not overlooking two lane in this situation he said it's completely on his mind and it will be in the minds of everybody around the football facilities all week.

I think we're getting the full go from Kansas state of full focus and this team has not allowed an offensive touchdown yet this season I believe their defenses improved their linebacker play has been exceptional their safeties are flying all over the field and I don't know that two lane is going to be able to effectively move the ball and stack successful plays together consistently enough to. Pro Cure scoring drives I don't think they're going to get into the red zone four or five times I don't think the chunk plays are coming and I do believe they are coming for Kansas state so there's a big talent disparity here I'm very low on two lane as is all lay 20 and a half with Kansas state here. I produce David usually I feel bad about fading BYU as you are an alum but I threw you a bone with New Mexico so we can balance it out here a little bit Colorado state give me the points in this old rivalry renewed because I think BYU they're aspirations where they're looking over the horizon it is not on this Colorado state team because the big 12 title is certainly in play they got a massive home game later this year against Notre Dame and they're sandwiched in here right now in between.

They got two big 12 games they just beat Arizona and did it convincingly you know they played a really complete defensive game and then they got TCU up next I think Colorado states the only team that's really fired up for a rivalry that dates back to 1922 by the way the difference is I have a big comfort level which in more junior because I think he's already in short order shown that he was one of the major steals of the coaching carousel already. Paws Haney has been on fire to start this season anyone who's missed his first two games it's time to get on board of this bandwagon because the former elite 11 quarterback who just languished he wasted away wasn't used to Oklahoma state one man's trash is another man's treasure he's in 65% completions 9 TDs only one pick 124 Russian yards in a TD through two games more also reliably decide you want to be on as an underdog dating back to his time at Yukon there and so. The story is 58% of the time against the spread he was caching as a dog that's really strong number now defensively this is my bigger issue I thought there was a chance that this offense could pop and so far so good for the Rams but defensively I was I was kind of a bit perplexed that they stuck with this defensive coordinator because it just wasn't coming together it didn't seem like he had a scheme that could create havoc but so far the havoc numbers are there 15 tackles for loss in two games 12 passes.

The defense is defended consistently getting off the field on third down they struggled in all these facets last year so it's encouraging to see that process maybe it's just an element of more having a better organization maybe putting in more work personally on the defensive side of the ball whatever it is it seemed to be working thus far now the other piece of this is any time that you're laying beyond three scores as a favorite you're looking for some of those quick strikes and the explosivity of this BYU offense with the exception of legend gasker has not quite been there but to be honest I thought that's what we would be dealing with I thought it would be a highly efficient physical offense not necessarily one that's going to blow you out of the water and I think by virtue of them being more methodical Colorado stays going to have a chance to try to out that third down defense and get off the field a couple times and potentially bow their neck in the red zone and have them settle for field goals more is presser by the way I'm someone who believes at this time of year when you're talking about non conference games and you're talking about big numbers you're trying to read the tea leaves a little bit as to

what is between the ears of the head coach how are they thinking about this duck has brought this up wisely multiple times talking about Miami, Ohio and Chuck Martin he doesn't give a rip about the non conference portion of the schedule you can see it in some of his participation numbers where he's playing into his two deep and he wants to give different people opportunities he doesn't care about the final score he cares about Mac play and that's great when you listen to more he talked about multiple things as press conference for familiarity with the BYU program is respect his respect in particular for sotaki but it's closing line is what pushes this this over the finish line for me in addition to getting the hook on 17 he said it's going to be a great challenge and it's going to be one that we look forward to like I said we will fight like crazy he proved that you can as a dog they did not lay down they fought for 60 minutes he's made basically saying something to the media but he's using the media as a throughput to get to his team he wants them to know that he's expecting them to play like the hairs on fire for 60 minutes I think this Colorado state team has showed me a lot and I think BYU could dominate this game and just win by 14 or 17 points in which case I'm casting this ticket what are your thoughts on the Rams here duck I know we talked off air a little bit that this was close to a play for you as well.

I mean great spot for Colorado state and we've seen Jim mora do his thing here just like he did at you con during the beginning of his 10 year there and Colorado states level of play has been elevated significantly last year the quarterback carousel was such a problem and really to be honest with you during the entire Jane or Vell 10 year the quarterback play and the ascent of Bradenfowler Nicolosi never ever happened he never got any better after that magical first three games you remember the Colorado game and a few games after that were Bradenfowler Nicolosi was just such an electrifying player and then that was it there was no development there was no maturation there was no better decision making and it was just so disappointing and there's a reason why Norvel is no longer there. We've seen Hoss Haney elevate his performance we've seen the offense very consistent they've been clicking very well they've been cashing in the cash drives in in the red zone they played Wyoming and southern Utah so I want to pump the brakes a little bit here but mora has got his guys to believe that what he's trying to do and what he's telling them to do during their weekly preparation well it's actually working and we've seen the team be cohesive and play together and have fun last year Colorado state football was just so anti fun all season it was terrible and we saw the defensive effort just completely not be there all season

other than the one game against Fresno State that they won by four touchdowns the rest of the way it was terrible and Tyson Somers has done a great job of getting that defense to play inspired football I think it's a great spot I think BYU you're going to have to squint to find some deficiencies with them but they do not have a real vertical passing threat and they don't have that quick strike nature about their offense I really don't envision them going in there and running back Meyer and getting the running game going with the run back and just gashing Colorado state for four quarters I think Colorado state has some defensive toughness here little show up and I wouldn't be stunned at all if this game starts out with all the juices flowing in Colorado state at home major sandwich spot for BYU if the Rams get up quick and then maybe there this is a kind of even teams at the half I wouldn't be stunned at all to have this be a real ball game in the fourth quarter. Yeah I think it's important to bring up you know when you go to Fort Collins canvas stadium is one of the nicest in the G6 it's relatively new I believe it's two years old now so they're going to bring out all the bells and whistles there's going to be the pre game atmosphere I imagine the hype just by virtue of more in this first year they're undefeated they're playing a team that you win this game you're on the national map and realistically if somehow they won this game they'd be in the driver's seat for that you know G6 auto bid as the top conference champion so plenty to play for for the

them and all the reason for them to come out and give it a 100% effort at least out of the gate. Yeah absolutely huge spot they're on big CBS it's in a national TV audience they get to host a P4 they're in the new conference new coach new attitude new everything I think this is a prime spot for Colorado state. Now usually this is my thing if you're watching on YouTube I put together as many of the matchups as I can fit onto my bookshelves here but doc you have a game with kaiotes helmet behind you you're talking total between South Dakota and Boise State and you think this one is headed for a shootout. Yeah I do and USD was replacing one of their best quarterbacks in the history of the program and it was kind of really unsettled as to who they were going to go with and Austin Majeski has been incredible this guy's athletic he can make all the throws he throws excellent deep passes and he really gives USD a dynamic passing attack last year they were so play action reliant

reliant with LJ Phillips and it was it was throwing the deep ball and it was really just kind of a simple passing pattern concept and the yotes have completely changed their offense around this guy and he's really already commanded the respect of the offensive staff to call a complete game plan he's got full command with the huddle and he's got a great running back in Charles Pierre that he can rely on as well to move the football but Majeski 11 touchdowns and three games 727 yards and just has been absolutely incredible with the football the yotes have three capable receivers that construct the field and tenel Bryant Braden White and Tyson Bose plus they also throw the football out of the back field to the running backs very well I think USD does have the offensive weaponry to go in there to Boise State and put up three touchdowns they shouldn't be intimidated here and I think they'll be ready to run their stuff this does not feel like a game to me where USD is playing up against an FBS like they did a couple of seasons ago against Wisconsin where they're trying to

run the ball play very slow and just trying to keep the score respectable I think we see a lot of fun football here from USD the defense has allowed points and they've allowed a ton of them against Central Connecticut State Northern Colorado and then also last week against Eastern Washington and the Eagles were able to torch USD in the second half through the air so the yotes could get exposed on the back end here this is a spot where Boise State could really get the run game cranking and then the the play action pass off of that could exploit a weaker USD secondary should be minimal pressure on Maddox Madsen in this game and I would expect drives to get into the red zone regularly I wouldn't be stunned at all if we see five or six Boise State drives that end in the red zone or with an explosive long touchdown that doesn't register a red zone trip and Boise State should put up at least 44 points in this game so 44 20 type of game this should absolutely clear the post of total so we're going to go over 54 and a half between South Dakota and Boise State.

I had to close things out with Louisiana land seven and a half against UAB the Cajun's showcase their FICINESS against USC easily covering while showcasing lunch winfield late on Saturday night a QBR of 84 against that Trojan defense 91 rushing yards on the ground a pair of touchdowns could we also get Shelton Samson back from a hyper extended NA still monitoring that situation that would be winded in their sales just like many of the G6 programs they're super KG with information but in terms of the overall timeline it was an early camp injury we're now sitting in mid September I think there's a chance that we get him back but not necessarily something that we need for them to be able to move the football against this UAB team sure the Trojan passing attack gash them but that's within a lead quarterback some special skill position talent really all across the board for USC how's UAB looking under mort not so great they barely beat UL Monroe at home and they could not throw the football at all writer burn was eight for sixteen hundred and fifteen yards a touchdown a pick a QBR of thirty point five and as someone who watched more UAB football than just about anybody in

the last five years but you know before they hired Trent Delford they had an identity they bring in Trent Delford they were soft they couldn't put games away rushing the football they couldn't stop anybody defensively but he did get the most out of his quarterbacks and they had some surprise offensive opportunities where all of a sudden they popped and a part of that was that Delford did a great job recruiting and cultivating his receiving core and when you look in the past few years and these past few cycles how this receiving room has been rated Amari Thomas Iverson hooks Cory Milner they're all gone and that talent drain out wide I think is finally caught up to them the blazers just do not have any pop and I'm not afraid of them whatsoever so yes Louisiana got you know pushed around they couldn't stop anything through the skies against USC it's just night and day difference in terms of what they're going to face here with writer burden throwing to a bunch of scarecrows out there in the perimeter finally what is UAB going to do if they can't throw the football well they're going to run it and Rod Robinson has looked good but when you dig into his

numbers it's the old limroy horde situation coach if you need one yard I'll get you three yards if you need five yards I will get you three yards that is the Rod Robinson experience here I think that they're going to load the box and be able to soften I also think they're going to be able to score enough they're going to force from a game flow perspective UAB to throw it and like I said I'm putting my foot in the ground here and saying I'm not moving an inch off of this opinion that UAB cannot throw because of their receiving situation do you think that's too extreme do you think I should give them some more reps here you know now that they're moving into a lighter part of their schedule or do you think Louisiana is just a cut above the blazers here duck I think a little bit above I think you know I saw some really good things from UAB in the opener against Illinois that game was very competitive into the fourth quarter it was very stunning how they really couldn't throw the football effectively against Louisiana Monroe so really inconsistent and that's not something you want to bet on it's something you could potentially want to bet against and you know

lunch win field has looked great and he's taken a step as a passer he's hit the explosive throws you know some of that was against USC's back up late at night when people were potentially already checked out but lunch can make things happen and I think he'll make them happen here at home and I do like this team so I didn't get to the window on this one quite yet but I would not be stunned I would not be stunned to see Louisiana put up a bunch of points in this game and so UAB is going to have to be playing catch up from behind and they're going to have to throw the football otherwise they will not cover this number so I could definitely see a path to Louisiana winning this game by two touch downs at Edward Jones we believe Rich is about taking care of what gives your life meaning that's why your financial advisor personalizes your plan to help you preserve your progress and create something that lasts let's find your Rich Edward Jones member SIPC Hey alright almost here are you ready? second play of the game they also fumbled late with an opportunity for a backdoor push they couldn't have played worse they couldn't protect the football obviously Quinn Jackson is now out long term I had you know some hopes but because what we the timing of which we record I didn't know he was going to be out really it looks like maybe till mid season at this point they didn't have any pop offensively yet here you are going back to the well and I think this is the beauty of us splitting things up because emotionally I'm not in a place to be giving out rice but you can tell me why you are yeah everyone throws these guys in the toilet after their 52 to nothing lost they did hand noted aim for touchdowns and they iris didn't eat any help but now you're facing a western Michigan team that doesn't have the explosiveness on offense they're coming off the big FCS win and it's a situation where western Michigan has covered 14 of the last 16 years against their FCS opponent so the school takes that very seriously listen breeze I know western Michigan everyone talks about the game that they played in the big house against Michigan they won the game didn't

end up officially being that way but they went in there and won and then now they take out their frustrations on the FCS opponent and I do think this is a little bit of a letdown spot for west Michigan again nobody wants to touch rice act the performance last week but you got a couple things you have a wacky travel spot that has been very difficult for good teams to go to just ask army and navy and teams of that nature how different UTSA ask those teams how hard it is to go to rice and win western Michigan has a huge G6 game on deck hosting Boise State and it's a little bit of a look ahead here I do think rice will be able to run the football and sustain possession of the ball I actually like the way jacari brown through the ball a little bit against Notre Dame and I think we will see the rice offense just look a little bit more migrated to what it looked like against Houston Baptist at home in the owner western Michigan does rank poorly in defensive success they're just 95th and havoc and so I think if you can just get this Scotty able system to get three four

yards of carry and stay on the field and sustain possession they'll have chances to score they don't have to score a lot of points to win this game but I think 17 points gets it done western Michigan does not have the potency on offense thrashing a bad mon myth defense doesn't really move the needle for me here and I'm not convinced that the Broncos are going to be able to connect on the long downfield explosive passes with Chanel that they were able to do against mon myth so everything here is going to be a slow burning grind the rice defense does rank 50th nationally in rush play success rate they actually the owls did make Notre Dame work for it on the ground the longest rushing place rendered it was just 15 yards against Notre Dame I mean you have a significant talent mismatch and you don't allow a rush play in excess of 15 yards there are some positives to build on here I think rice can force Braukla Rita have to throw the ball on third and medium or worse and that's not what western Michigan wants to do so I've actually got this one a really close game

you're gonna have the Texas Heat the the weird travel the look ahead spot for western Michigan I like rice plus nine and a half and I do think that this is worth taking a stab on the owls on the money line I would not be stunned at all if they win this game just for my own notification what number did you get on the money line number on rice is plus 295 all right when you put it together with my play that's coming at plus 150 also at draft kings you get almost nine to one plus eight eight eight magic number let's see if I can talk you into it here talk about a crazy travel spot the Nevada Wolfpack traveling from Reno to Merfersboro Tennessee they got a fly four and a half hours to Nashville then it's another hour bus ride there in Merfersboro also by the way they're going to be welcomed by some southern hospitality and some southern heat and humidity 92 degrees that kick humid by the way when they're flying out it's going to be lows at 45 degrees in Reno so a little bit of like a weird body adjustment to going from late fall to right back to the

summer speaking of body adjustments can Carter Jones show that he's healthy because for anyone who is on the Wolfpack last week against Montana State he was a surprise scratch before the game it's because he had a bruised elbow they put him through warm ups he had no zip on his pass so what what do they do they have to go to their backup quarterbacks AJ Bianco loop Duncan they were both dreadful they're checked down merchants in this offense this offense is already predicated on being accurate throwing with anticipation throwing people to you know open spots on the field but in addition to that you have to have you know a little bit of that downfield passing game just to prevent teams from playing underneath coverage and once they realize that they couldn't throw it more than 10 air yards down the field they were in real deep water against the bobcats they lose that one now Jones's availability and health is in question here and if that is the case and if he plays but he's at 75% or if he doesn't play I feel really good about Roman Gagliano being the better quarterback in this matchup because they gave Marshall a four quarter battle I mean there were two

point conversion late away from tying that deep in the fourth quarter he's proven capable of impacting the game both inside the pocket outside the pocket and running when those open lanes are available to him Cameron Lacey has been absolutely fantastic out of the slot for the blue Raiders it's been a missing element of this offense for years out of the slot through two games 17 receptions clock 90 two TDs he's also very shifting to turn the game in the punt return element of this football game as well on special teams so I put that all on a blender they're still a missing element and it was the defense and was one of the reasons why I wasn't on the blue Raiders over in the preseason there were so many questions for the defense to me as far ahead of where I thought they would be I mean they go 15 rounds of Marshall that's one thing but what struck me in that game I went back and I watched the you know condensed replay of it you can see their tackling on film and then you go into the numbers and it's reflected there as well 28th and tackling per pf through two weeks which is key against this wolf pack attack which even if Carter Jones is playing he's

going to run a little bit he's also just going to use that that spread offense to be able to throw inside of 10 and 15 yards can you tackle these these guys they're going to play some defenses out west that are not going to have those guys in the secondary who are reliable tackle tackler so I'm going to be back on Nevada but in this one I think that there's an opportunity for middle Tennessee to put them in a lot of third and uncomfortable distances third and five third and seven where they're going to be just sitting on the sticks and saying I'm going to challenge you to go deep over the top like we're just not giving this up I think this game is also predicated a bit on what the wolf packed it against western Kentucky western Kentucky stinks this year there's just the recency bias of what that team has accomplished in was it seven or eight straight bull games not this year the Hilltoppers are not a good team and they're certainly not good enough on the defensive side to sure up anything in the run game I think what middle Tennessee just did against Marshall gives me plenty of faith that they can get this over the finish line what do you think about this one I know this a team you are low on preseason duck has anything changed in your mind through two weeks well gagley auto gives

them a fantastic option at quarterback he's so much farther ahead than what Nicholas Maddiado showed last year in the offense is competent they're not making the mistakes the offense a coordinator change has been good that's a buttoned up team and I think it's a team that certainly has a more than a 50 50 chance to win this game specifically if Carter Jones does not play because the backups loop Duncan and AJ Bianchio were dreadful for Nevada and it was really a shame we didn't get a beat on that before Carter Jones was ruled out nobody to last week against Montana state so I think I think his health is important here but if he is a no go then middle Tennessee should probably they may not close the favor but they should be the the favor to win this game or mind are on Fridays at 3 p.m. over on x we have a spaceshow the weekend warm up duck and I go through our card what we're adding to it last minute additions in terms of weather in terms of injury availability market movement you don't want to miss that and on the back end of that we head on

over to the action network discord for our pro conversation where we bring Jordan vannich him and I cut it up on player props for having a great start to the season there and duck gives out some exclusive fcs plays where we all as a group of fire in at the same time so we're getting the best number you're not going to want to miss that we're ready for power that's for big boys time to level up yeah it's time to take it to the next lap all right let's finish this up by leveling up into the p4 we go from g6 to p4 football we each give a pick a piece you're going with the tree tell me about the Stanford Cardinal yep Stanford plus nine and a half I really think the tree needed the by week to get healthy and I saw the post of depth chart that was furnished to the ACC for the road trip against Duke and it shows that prongos is back at left tackle simione paul a is back in the starting lineup on the offensive line and neco brown enters the fold he's the Yale transfer receiver that comes back after missing the first two games and he'll just add another layer of potency to Stanford's passing attack and I think you just saw a team against Miami that

was really depleted they just really needed to get to the by week and get some guys healthy and now you're getting Duke priced at the absolute top of the apex they just went to champagne and defeated Illinois outright how they look good in the opener against Tulane I fully expect Stanford to be much more consistent on the ground now that you get the full platoon of offensive line starters back in the fold and that's going to open up the passing game to get neco brown to stretch the field vertically and connect on some deep shots along with keeping the the passing game reliant and surrounding around the tight ends the offensive game plan has looked good for Stanford and I've been impressed with what I've seen there are a lot of things Duke doesn't do well they don't convert third down well just 10 out of seven 10 out of 27 the consistency in the past game with Walker Eget is just not there and Duke is a very heavily penalized bunch 19 accepted penalties against them for 165 yards through two games lots of full drive per game that's negated by penalties Duke is just too reliant on the run game with Nate Shepherd and Stanford really

did a nice job against Miami two weeks ago against the run Duke has played two games since Stanford last took the field and I think we're getting a fresh team that's got some key pieces back along the offensive line they're getting great coaching at Stanford much better coaching than they received over the last several seasons and I think they'll have something skimmed up here I won't be stunned at all if we see Stanford potentially trying to go down and win the game late or kick a field goal to tie it and send it to overtime I think tree competes really well here I wrote this game up in the action app you can check it out it's the magnolia bowl between ls u and old miss it's the game in century I think it's one of the most hyped up regular season games I can ever remember in my lifetime I think you could stack it up against 157 years of collegeable history and say this one has so much meaning and it's all based Lincoln Riley is returning to the scene of the crime after leaving them in the lurch last year during the collegeable playoff and then doubling back to take some of his best lieutenants and you know also some players in the portal the guy is just a villain

with a capital V but this isn't a feel good hallmark movie sometimes the bad guys win and ls u is a more talented team because the eighth best rated roster in college football per 24 seven sports and through two weeks we've seen that what's interesting is I think there's a couple elements one last year with Charlie Weiss Jr. and Lane kiffin scripting they had seven opening drive touchdowns out of 12 and the majority of them came when they made a switch to train it out of chambles through two games and four offensive drives they've only scored twice and I think there's a chance because of bit of the brain drain on the old miss offensive staff that they don't come out of the starting gate absolutely rocking we see what chambles can do once he gets his legs under him gets a little momentum going he carves up teams in the second half but I think with the atmosphere that it's going to be an absolute zoo at vaudehammingway the emotion is going to be so intense

whichever team breaks first in this case I think is going to win this game and they could win going away I don't think it's such a bad play to go for either if you believe in Ole Miss lay 10 see what you can get in terms of a big number get three to one on your money if you like ls you I think picking them to win by double digits is a prudent play as well and when I get into a little bit of the minutiaugh on the other side of the ball we've seen with the same love it experience quote of quote is like he can make really bone headed decisions he had two red zone interceptions one of which was a deflection against lottech but he also extends plays in a way that gives them a dimension that you can be perfect defensively and he still burns you for a 20 yard run and look at the opener against Louisville Lincoln kind holes made a lot of really really good plays with his legs particularly in the second half of that game and Ole Miss had no answers it's not as simple as just dialing up you know a spy and because kiffons offense is predicated on so many rpos if you go ahead and basically make one of those defenders a dead defender they're no

longer looking to stop the running game they're no longer stopping anything on the perimeter they're just focused on the quarterback he'll make you pay in the numbers game there as well so I think ls use the right side here I think you know in terms of all the shiny pieces that they got in the portal on the edge I think their past rushes elite seen at left tackle by the way has only allowed two pressures through two games he's proven to be the kind of gold plated left tackle that they paid for I think ls you get this done as I said sometimes in the movies the villains win and this is going to be one of those situations final note a bit of misleading box score it looked like Ole Miss did a pretty good job against Louisville in the opener holding them to 4.2 yards per carry whoops today's eat there's a 29 yard loss of yardage on a punt that was snapped over the punters had they actually gave up north of five yards per carry and I think ls use going to be able to sustain drives simply by running the football taking the ball out of levit's fewer dropbacks fewer throws into traffic fewer turnover worthy plays I think that's the difference in this one all right let's finish it off here with our bets that segment presented by

draft kings I'm going to go with Louisiana minus seven and a half I laid it out I think I have an absolute dominating advantage in the quarterback room lunch win field is going to tear up this UAB team and when UAB is put in a box and they can't just run the ball with Rob Robinson I think things are going to get dicey for them because their receiving core is just not the same as it was last year or the year before that they don't have the dudes on the perimeter to take you know a 15-yard play and turn it into a 75-yard touchdown Louisiana I think is the class there's a reason why they're one of the favorites to win the Sun Belt West UAB I think is just a speed bump for them I'm surprised that they're laying single digits I'm happy to lay the seven and a half here I think they win this one going away yeah and I'll use Kansas State we'll fade too lane here all lay the 20 and a half with Kansas State I don't think that the defense is going to be able to get stops I think Kansas State will have success in early downs I think the cash in in the red zone and I do not believe that two lane will be efficient enough offensively to match score for score those are our g6 best bets presented by draft kings you'll definitely want to tail those over
