Bloomberg sees the era of billionaire athletes. While others follow the noise, we follow the money. Learn more at bloomberg.com. The man to find peace with the world. He only needs to find peace within himself. Lays Pascal, the French philosopher, said it well. All of humanity's problems stem from our inability to sit quietly in a room alone. And that's what this video is about. Not to find peace, success, and fulfillment through solitude. I think this might be the first time this has ever been done.

Podcast in the back of the truck. In the desert to talk about solitude and going out alone. Why that is, the only place you will find peace as a man is on your own. And without others around you. I first realized this. When I left my hometown, when I was 18 years old, I went to university. I'd felt ever since I was about 15-16. I'd felt the need to leave my home. I felt at 15-16, I felt like a man. I wasn't, I had a lot to learn, I made a lot of mistakes. But from 15-16 years old, I felt like I wanted to leave the home. To go and find my own way in the world, which I think is so important for a man. So I went away. I went to university. And of course there was other people there. But I spent a great deal of time on my own. And I let go of my parents' support and I was out on my own.

Having a friend for myself for the first time, figure out how to make my own money, pay my own rent. Figure out how to buy food, how to manage my money. That's one of the most important things that a man can learn. Being alone also allows you to figure out who you truly are in the world that we live in when you're surrounded by other people. And this is so powerful. And you're surrounded by others, you pick up their habits and their traits. Whether you like it or not, we become products of our environment. The quickest way to break that is to spend time on your own. If you can find peace on your own, you will always be okay. Being solitude and going alone as a man is the mission to find yourself before you allow in other people. Spending that time alone gives you clarity over what you really want. And you'll find it when you spend your first bit of time alone. It feels uneasy. Feels uncertain. You don't know what to do with yourself. It's in those moments when you're sitting alone in your house or your small apartment.

It's in those moments that you can find peace if you don't try and run from it. If you actually think in those moments and you feel guided to write and sit down and think about what you want, those are the moments where you figure out what's right for you in your life, not what's right for the people that brought you up. So I went to university and I made my path alone. On that path, I picked up friends. I picked up a girlfriend, picked up various different relations, playing for a football team and going to an MMA club. And Jack Bournemouth version was born. And that version of me was decided by my actions and what I'd done in Bournemouth. I was very quickly, after a couple of years living there, I was no longer alone. I was spending all my time living with my girlfriend around other friends and I'd become a product to my environment. At that time, the product of my environment was a 9 to 5 life. It was being a 9 to 5 person, I had an apartment, had a girlfriend.

Things would go in fairly well by anyone's standards, other than my own, because when I was sitting at work and looking around at my life, I realized I don't really enjoy this very much. I don't like this lifestyle, I don't like doing the same thing every day. I've been doing this for, I was in total in Bournemouth four years. I've been working at Job for two years, sitting down, doing 200 cold calls a day behind a desk. And I started to dream when I was on my own in that office. When I was just me and my thoughts at that desk, I started to dream about what life could really be like. And I decided there was a tough decision to make. If I wanted to make it further in life, I would have to take another risk and I would have to go alone again, because I'd realized how much I'd grown on that journey in Bournemouth, on that journey to a new place and left my parents. And I'd done that for four years and I thought, okay, I've found this friend, I've built this lifestyle, but it's not exactly what I want.

So I had to take another journey, I had to go alone again. And I thought long and hard about this, because it meant leaving my whole life, my whole job, saving up money and moving to Thailand. I moved to Bangkok and then to Koso Mui, an island, where I got the idea from the beach, the movie with Leonardo DiCaprio. So I thought about that for a while and pondered it and I took the risk. I decided that if I would regret not doing it at this time. And there was a lot of things that could have gotten my way. There was COVID still going on, had a few issues with flights, I've re-booked my flights a few times, then I would move back into my parents' house for the first time in four years, for a couple of months, and I started seeing my friends from home again. They started having an influence on me. I started enjoying that lifestyle at home, going out with my buddies that hadn't seen for so long. Being accepted, having free rent at my parents' house. It was all pretty nice. It was another nice lifestyle, but the scary thing is always... Good things coming for us, like ukulele strings, boy band members...

I got on a one way ticket, one way plane, through to Thailand. And there I was truly alone. For the first time in my life, I didn't know a single person. I didn't know a single soul in Thailand and I'd never been there once in my life. I had no idea what I was going to do. I had no plan. And I had about $15,000 saved up and I was building social media. And I went from Bangkok, flew into Koso Mui. And that's where I was stationed alone. And that period of my life, that next year was one of the most beautiful times I've ever experienced.

The feeling of solitude and finding a routine. Solitude when you've only got to look after yourself, when you've only got to make sure you're okay, when you can have your own ideas because nobody else is putting things into your mind where you feel zero embarrassment. So what happened was through that solitude, Bormif Jack died. And Thailand Jack was born and he was a greater version. I took all the lessons I'd learned in going alone the first time, all the good parts of my personality. But then I also embraced the bits that maybe I hadn't been embracing. I decided to become truly confident in myself. I decided that I was only going to follow what I thought was right. And everybody's opinion disappeared. I was miles from home. I was able to create any life I wanted, become anyone I wanted. When the beauty of solitude was nobody else's information was coming into my system. No one else's opinion mattered. So it allowed me to follow my dream.

My dream was to create content on YouTube. And when I started creating that content in Thailand, I was able to become the person I wanted to become and nobody could get in the way of my ideas. And it was through that solitude I found true focus. Another problem with having a lot of people around is there's a lot of occasions. There's a lot of birthdays, there's Christmas, there's weddings, there's parties, all sorts of distractions. When it was me on my own in Thailand, I had no schedule. I had no one asking to see me. And it allowed me to make videos every day on YouTube. I would wake up in the morning, I would go to the gym, I would come home, I would light a candle on my desk, the OGs will remember this. I'd light a candle in front of me on my desk in my one bedroom apartment in Thailand. And I would sit there and I would make a video. And I would post that video every day just off my laptop. I'd sit and make videos in Thailand nonstop. Nobody getting in the way of my schedule. That's what allowed me to build who I was.

Solitude is what allows you to when you can feel comfortable alone. That's where you find yourself and find what you should truly do. Now there was many times on those trips and living in Thailand that I was scared. When I was on my own, I was really scared. So I want you to know that that's totally normal. And it's the fears that you overcome that will make you great. It's actually in the fear and the darkness that the great ideas are born. That your new personality is born through overcoming fear and darkness. That's where growth comes from that solitude of being alone, figuring things out for yourself. And I felt like I grew four years in one year, four years of personal development and growth. I became an entirely new person from solitude alone. From spending time with my own thoughts, I managed to find and direct myself to the life that I wanted. So how can you take solitude and when should you? I think every man should have a period of his life that he spends alone.

Before you consider a long-term girlfriend, before you consider settling down, before you consider going into a job, before you consider starting your business even, every man should have a period of time where he finds himself a right of passage, the right of passages that we've forgotten over the years. You should have a mission, maybe a two-week trek through the mountains of Nepal, maybe a trek through the jungle in Thailand. Maybe just go and visit in the beach or kosamu in Thailand for two weeks. But every man needs to find a way. No matter what position he's in, he needs to find a way to take time on his own every week with zero distractions. Zero phones, zero internet, zero work. You need to find a way to sit with your own thoughts, to find a way to figure out who you are, to figure out what kind of life you want to build, what your soul is telling you. And then you need to get scared. You need to go on a mission on a journey. You need to be scared and go somewhere that you've never been before,

and somewhere that you go alone. And realize that you're absolutely okay on your own. You're absolutely okay by yourself. So to round up this video in a very solitary location, if you can't find time to be alone and go on a trip, find time to spend an hour each day, sitting in your room with a journal out with no phone, and sit there in silence and just see what ideas come to you. If you want to take the next step, go and spend a weekend away once a month. Go to a log cabin somewhere and spend a weekend where you have nothing but your own thoughts turn your phone off. If you want to take the next step after that, go away for two weeks. Go and find out who you are. Go and unlock the hero inside of you. Go and find that adventurer because it's inside your surprise yourself. Even though I was scared, there was a part of me that started to grow. There was a new version. My ultimate version started to come out. That's what changed my life. That's what changed who I was.

So I started listening to my soul, I started listening to what was inside of me. And that's what you find when you're alone. And let go of the opinions of other people. The only prison that you're in is a prison that you put yourself in. We're only caged by our own minds, holding ourselves back. We're never caged by others. And being alone lets you realize that. When you go alone or you go traveling and you realize you're still carrying the same baggage that you had before, no matter how far from home you get, that's when you have to sit down and learn. That's when you have to sit down and sort through the problems. When you figure out that, oh, it wasn't actually being in that country. It wasn't actually being around those people. The problems inside me and I've been ignoring it. I've been around so many people distracted for so long that I've never realized who I am. Go through that pain. Consider it a rebirth. Solitude is the way. Now in my current life I live out and Dubai. I can come and take solitude as I please. I make sure I take solitude every morning that I do not speak to other people. My mind is its greatest asset. I listen to myself.

I don't listen to the opinions of others. I seek counsel and I will listen. But in terms of general opinions and people that talk to me, I know that my heart, my gut feeling is the best. Solitude helps you find that. And then I come and take time alone by myself a couple of days, but I'll come and take by myself or I'll go away to work on my business, to work on my ideas and my mind. So out in this beautiful desert, on this beautiful day, in solitude, I just wanted to give you that message that the next step of your life probably involves being alone, whether it for you for an hour a day, whether it be for two weeks, whether it be moving country. If you want to get to the next level, something has to change. And there's probably a version inside of you that wants to get out, that wants that adventure, that you might not have found yet. So guys, it's been an absolute pleasure and I'll see you on the next one. That's a wrap.
