Tony, the Hurricanes travel 3,000 miles across the country and they storm the Stanford Cardinal 45-6, five touchdowns on their first six possessions, an unbelievable night for

3:02as we kick off the 2026 season. Man, so many high expectations, right, as the Home Opener next week against Fam U, but we have injuries to talk about from this game. We have some, maybe I don't want to say some concerns about lack of turnovers forced pressure on the quarterback, sacks, things like that and havoc on the defensive side of the ball and special teams. We didn't see that, but the defense bent a little bit, didn't break it all, didn't allow a touchdown and we have got a legitimate Heisman duo, a legitimate Heisman duo with Darian Mensa who looked historically good at the quarterback position tonight at the University of Miami and we will tell you how historically good tonight as well. And then of course, Malakai Tony, Jeremiah, who I had to say it, get it out of the way, but man, nothing to really complain about tonight, a couple things you could look at and say, hey, you know, this team needs to improve this, needs to improve that, but you know, the coaches need to have something to talk about, right? They need to have something to pick at and look at the film and say we need to get better

4:03here. We need to get better there. The offensive line, they answered some questions tonight, left some to be answered as well, especially with the running game, the defensive line and those were the two areas of concern with so many big time players having left and vacated and going on to the NFL, right? But I think so far, so good. You go three thousand miles across the country. I know Stanford was decimated by injuries. I know there are a lot of things going on there, but man, oh man, I'll tell you what, it was an absolute beautiful night to be a Miami hurricane at Stanford this evening. By the way, I told you, I'm Jim Grease, Haber, Call me Grease, class of 96 at the U, Alex Donnell will be here in segment number two, number seven Miami one and oh, a demolition of Stanford at Palo Alto. I had friends of mine sending me videos throughout the game from the stadium. It was so, so quiet in there, man. They had some things go wrong tonight, some breakdowns and coverage on defense, not a ton of pressure, not a ton of havoc. They almost had a disastrous play on special teams. The ball hits the Stanford players foot before it hits the Murray Brown in the back, but

5:05a championship caliber statement from a championship caliber team to start the season. And I'll tell you what, what a way to start the postcast and they did exactly what we wanted to see them do. I said from the beginning, Alex and I did our show last Saturday. And by the way, thank you for making us a top 10 channel on the number one sports podcast network in El Mundo, the Lockdown Podcast Network. But I want to say this, okay? I said I wanted to see a blow out an absolute demolition of Stanford. Check. I said I wanted to see Mensa go off and I wanted to see how the offensive players, the offensive line and the receivers responded to him, how they were in terms of being on the same page. Check. I wanted to see Malachi Tony have a huge game. Check. I mean, you had 10 for a book 80 and two touchdowns in the first half Malachi Tony, two Heisman poses in the first half for Mali. And I'll tell you that was unbelievable. And then I wanted to see the defense wreak some havoc and I don't know that we saw that. I don't know that we saw the defense wreak havoc. Now, let's say this, they had a lot of pressures, but one sack and two tackles for a loss with

6:07no turnover's force, right? So those are things they can improve upon. Obviously, no big plays on special teams. Mali was fair catching the ball all night and then the one play we avoid disaster with tomorrow, a brown, it hits the Stanford players foot. So plenty to pick at. And I see some of you in the chat are spoiled as you know what already. You guys are in there going, man, we don't have a running game. So I'm like, what more do you guys want when you're throwing 27 for 30 for five touchdowns in 400 yards? All right. I mean, what more do you guys want? You take what the defense has given you. I'm Shannon Dawson's number one critic. You guys know that but I have nothing to criticize tonight. Nothing. So let's just enjoy it and say, hey, we're one and no. We won. We covered. Hopefully you were smart enough to have a little fun with that as well on Fandool. And I'll tell you what, you know, I saw a lot of things to be really encouraged about this team and the question marks that we had coming in. Those are the things that we're looking at and going, hey, that defensive line with the pressures and the sacks and tackles for loss, not like last year. Well, when you lose two first round defensive end, the best pair of defensive ends to play together

7:09at the University of Miami and think about the history, Bayon and Mesador, right? Maui Noah and all these other guys who were gone into the NFL and, you know, it just, it's just, you're just not going to walk right out there and dominate at every position all the time. And the OJ Frederic injury, he leaves the game on the opening series. And that's one of the best cover corners in the country. He and Lucas together, unbelievable, Thornton and Nickelback, right? You know how great that secondary is. Stanford found some holes early. But again, you take a guy like Frederic out just like Lucas missing the first half against Indiana. That was a huge key to that game. But I will tell you this, I have not seen a quarterback at the University of Miami as electrifying as Darian Mensa in a long damn time. And I might be talking, I might be serious here. I might be talking Vinnie Testa Verdi. I might be talking Bernie Kozar. And I go back that far with this program because I love Geno and I love Dorsey. And don't get me wrong, they're amazing. They're winners yet unbelievable careers. But Mensa can make every throw on the field.

8:11And he just drops in dime after dime in perfect position for his receiver. So I don't know about you, but I am so excited about our quarterback. I think he's way better than Carson Beck. And Beck's turning a ton of heads, people in Arizona think he's going to be their next franchise quarterback. And I know that because I know some people in the front office with the Cardinals. And that's what they're talking about with Beck. Cam Ward, number one pick overall, number one offense two years ago and look at Darian Mensa. But look at the receivers. Barcait had a big game and he was the invisible man next to Malachiotony. Malachiotony looks like Tyreek Hill out there on the football field. And you're wondering how can this kid get better than he was last year? I think he answered those questions. So this is a lot of fun to see. We have so much to talk about here tonight, Alex Donnell will be here in segment number two. But Mensa again, 27 of 30, 412 yards. A Miami record five touchdowns, no interceptions, a 90% completion percentage, 13.7 yards per

9:13attempt. And what about Malachiotony? What about the best receiver and maybe the best player in the country? 11 catches, 229 yards. He broke Eddie Brown's program record. Eddie Brown was Bernie Kozar's number one receiver, a great player at the U. Three touchdowns for Malachi. 20.8 yards per catch, a long of 48. That was a touchdown. Man, unbelievable. Mensa and Malachi, Mensa was eight for eight to start. touchdowns on their first two possessions in five of their first six, calm under pressure, accurate at every level, converted crucial third downs. They were great on third downs tonight. And I'm just really happy to say that, you know, Mensa hardly got touched. The past pro was phenomenal. I think they're finding their way a little bit on the offensive lines from young players. You know, can't well. They put them in there and he played very well. So I don't think you're going to see him leave the lineup anytime soon. But, you know, I don't know how many of us were still wondering whether Mensa could replace Beck. And then, last year, you know, he was the best quarterback in the country coming back. And we got him, right? But 400 plus yards, five touchdowns, no picks, 90% completion percentage.

10:17And I don't care who you're playing, but that's, listen, that's Stanford. That's a pretty good division one program, right? Not the best, but I think Miami definitely upgraded at quarterback this year. I think I want to see a lot more from the defense. I want to see a lot more in the running game, the offensive line. People who are ripping Mark Fletcher, Jr. Calm down, man. Calm down. I mean, they stack the box to take the run away. I watched Mario real quick with SVP after the game on Sports Center. And that's who it's shout out to SVP. He's the man. But Mario said it like they stack the box. They wanted us to beat him on the outside. How many times did we see Tony one on one? And to Dawson's credit, as much as I give him crap, we saw Malachi Tony one on one with a linebacker on that 48 yard touchdown. I mean, are you kidding me? Talk about, you know, some good play calling there. So I give credit where credit is due. And look, I'll be the first one to rip him when he makes mistakes. Don't get me wrong. I'm not coming off that hill. And I'll tell you this, man, that was flawless tonight. And you know what? You might think, hey, anybody could call those plays with those guys out there, right? With Mensa and Mali and how open Tony was. But the opening drive was unbelievable.

11:20You know, just all three catches on Mensa four plays, three completions, three for three, all to Tony, you know, touchdown and a Heisman pose. Stanford never led they didn't score touchdown. You know what I mean? Nobody could cover Mali. And man, oh man, just an unbelievable start. I'm going to do the season for the Hurricanes. And on a field in an offense full of stars. Who's the Heisman Frontrunner? Who do you pick for player of the game? Is it Mensa? Is it Mali? I mean, come on. Just unbelievable performances. And I'm going to say it again. Jeremiah. Who? Jeremiah. Who? Anyway, yeah. And we're going to have some fun with this tonight. It's a great night to be a Miami hurricane, Alex, not all 45 to six. And it's always awesome to have you on any show or to be on any show with you. But I have to ask you first and foremost, man, your initial thoughts after that, that whooping that we put on Stanford out there in California.

17:27Darian Mensa had as close to a perfect debut as I've ever seen. He threw more touchdown passes than he had in completions in this game. But one of his incompletions was a throw where his arm got tipped, which, you know, affected the trajectory of the ball. So it's like you can almost say two incompletions. And then another one that was totally not on him. And I, you know, honestly, people know I'm always pretty bullish and I'm always pretty positive and everything. But even I did not imagine a Mensa debut going this well. I mean, the way he was attacking all over the field, and I know Malakitoni, who I'll talk about in a second was obviously the focal point. But Mensa still spread it out to other targets, Dalyne Upshaw catches a touchdown, really good throw and catch there, Cooper Barcade. It's like old times at Duke catching a touchdown pass as well from Mensa. You saw a little bit of everything, Greece. And having a guy like Mensa really helps when you have an offensive line that clearly

18:28needs more time to gel. It's like you can see it that it's not really fully there yet with the five man one mind thing, which is understandable because this group hasn't played together and like the combined starts, which are mostly from Matt McCoy or like 45 combined starts for the entire unit, which is really not that much for like contending teams. But with Mensa with his quick release, the mobility, the escape ability, like he's an offensive line's best friend. He's not just going to hang out in the pocket and waste his time. And then the connection that we see between Mensa and Tony, you know, Greece, I you know, sent a tweet out during the game that was a little tongue in cheek. There have ever been co-heizmins before because like the two of them kind of deserve to share that consideration. And you know, I heard you say something about, you know, Tony, can he get even better that he was as a true freshman? And I know we both think the answer to that is yes.

19:29He's done everything right. This off season, Greece. I mean, he takes nothing for granted. There's no complacency whatsoever. He's always the hardest working guy in that building. He's completely goal driven and football driven. And you can see like he's added I think 12 to 15 pounds of muscle. And I think that shows and he hasn't lost his speed in adding that muscle. And you know, the the stat line is incredible. You know, you mentioned he he broke the Eddie Brown 42 year long single game receiving records. I do that again. Is it been 42 years? 42 years 1984. 42 years. I was 12. I was a couple of months old. But happy to say remember that at the same time. Yeah, yeah. And so, you know, Tony now he is the, and he's going to rewrite the Hurricanes record book completely. And he's he's already he's one season and one game into his Miami career. And he's got now the single game receiving record.

20:31He's got the single season receptions records, single season receiving yards record. He's got the the freshman touchdown record that he set last year. Michael. Like, watch out. And he's he's not far from Xavier Restrepo's career receiving record. It's now in year two, which is crazy. And you know, I know, you know, I'm looking through the live comments and stuff that we love all the everydayers. Like, we love you guys. And I know that anytime like, it's not a perfect performance. It's a great performance tonight. But there's always stuff that you can nitpick. And again, like with the running game, you know, I go back to what I just said about the offensive line. You know, they clearly need more time to gel. I think they really have something with Jackson Cantwell who didn't start the game grease. But when he came into the game, I thought, you know, just the push up front immediately improved once Cantwell got in. I saw a difference there.

21:31And you know, he's a true freshman. He's going to be earning his coaches trust. And it wouldn't surprise me if he's a starter on that offensive line pretty soon, even though he didn't start today. So I was happy to see the running game kind of came to life a little bit. I know it's not there yet. You know, to me, like the most concerning thing and you mentioned it and people are commenting about it was the defensive backs look out of sync. You know, they were giving a lot of cushion to Stanford that I don't know if that was more of a game planning issue. But I think there's also some communication because like I definitely saw and like, let's I've seen Omar Thornton practice and I know he's, I think he's going to be great on this defense, but there were some times where maybe he looked a little out of sync because he's still kind of getting used to his teammates and getting used to Corey Heatherman. So I don't know, man, I hope hopefully I'm right when I say this and it's great to be able to nitpick stuff after a 39 point victory against a conference.

22:33But this is a first world problem to nitpick stuff like this. But I don't I don't think I saw anything tonight in a negative sense that I don't think can be fixable just with more time and experience, right? And to be looking at a team where your your new starting quarterback is throwing for over 400 yards in his debut. He goes 27 for 30. He ties the school record for five touchdown passes, zero interceptions. And you know, I also I know people are nitpicking the past rush. How many holding calls did Stanford have like six pressures, a lot of pressure, right? Holding calls like the Saxon, not the turnovers. Yeah, but it's like they only got home for one sack, but how many of those holdings would have been sacks if it's not for the reek in the secondary after the series of the game, which is huge because he's the best cover corner. But you talk about it. And it's just such a luxury. Mensa and Tony wiped all that out with Alex Donnell here on your cane's postcast.

23:36We got a couple quick things to get to Alex. We'll start with this one because we're talking about Mensa and we're talking about Tony. Time to reveal where the game was once or lost. It's the turning point. I'll see if Alex agrees with me on this one. But I feel like the turning point was when we got off the plane. First of all, the turning point in the game was, I mean, the first play of the game and the first throw from Mensa 48 yards to Malachi, Tony. And from that moment, Stanford just spent the entire night Alex chasing two players that could not stop. They weren't just the two best players on the field. They were like the big kids on the little kids playground member in elementary school when you'd be like, yo, it's me and you versus the whole rest of the whole school and we'll beat you guys. That's what it felt like. It felt like Mensa and Malley versus everybody. But I do want to say this because Mensa had a clean pocket throughout most of the night. A couple of times, you know, he had his arm hit on winning completion. He did hit a couple of times in the game, but I'm give them credit. But just the way that they came out with that first drive and that first throw to Malley,

24:37it was very clear that Stanford was going to take away the run. I just couldn't believe we saw Malachi, Tony and one on one coverage, that whole opening drive. And it's just boom, three catches touchdown, Heisman pose, just like that. But it's funny. You say that because when like the first time I saw them double Tony was when Barcait caught his touchdown. So it's like, it's a pick your poison offense, Greece. It's like, you know, you know, Stanford did an okay job limiting Miami's rushing attack and they got picked apart through the air. And then as soon as they gave extra attention to Tony, Cooper Barcait comes alive. So, you know, I just, I think there's so many weapons like I don't know if we've ever seen an offense with this much like this. I'm calling it right now. This is going to be an even more prolific offense than Cam Ward's offensive two years ago. I think that. Yeah. And I'm telling you, receiving course a lot better. Let's be real a lot better.

25:37And the receiving course better, you know, the running back room is overall better. We'll see about the offensive line. I mean, you know, Cam, I thought the old line was actually even better in, you know, 2025 for Carson Beck. Because there was a lot of the same guys. They were a year more experienced than they were with Ward. So like this, this old line, you know, there's definitely room for growth. And Christa ball talked about that after the game that they are going to expect more out of this group. But I don't know if I've ever seen not not for, you know, about 25 years. Have I seen this many weapons in a Miami offense? All right. Here we go. That's a perfect lead into. This is the lock down player of the game. Let's see. Anyway, I mean, Darian, Mensa historic Miami debut, five touchdown passes, 412 yards, 90% completions, no turnovers. I mean, Miami quarterbacks and historically quarterback you, Dorsey and Geno and Vinnie and Bernie and Jim Kelly.

26:38I mean, obviously the list goes on and on, right? But huge debut for Mensa who has a chance to be as good as any of them in any single season this year and could be a finalist for the Highsman Trophy along with Malachi and Kaitoni, single game receiving yardage record that stood for over 40 years at a place that is, yeah, I mean, you're talking about Andre Johnson and Michael Irwin. Some of the greatest receivers, Santana Mostra want to leave him out. You know, he goes, he calls himself eight to the nine on Instagram and I'm like, no, no, you're six. You're not eighty nine. You're six. You're six. Anyway, 229 yards, three touchdowns and Malachi, Kaitoni, Alex had more yards receiving than Stanford had yards passing. Oh, that's a great nugget. Oh, I didn't know that. Yeah, I mean, and actually I thought Davis Warren played pretty well. I mean, that as well as you can for a team that didn't get in the end zone, but he's, he he oozes experience. He's obviously a really tough guy because he had to miss all of last year with injury and he go back to his high school days like Davis Warren beat leukemia, like it was 2019.

27:41I think 2019 when he was in high school. So he's, he's had to overcome a lot of different things and I'm going to root for him throughout the season because he's, he made a lot of big throws under pressure. All right, Alex, we, uh, we're going to talk about something that was really important in this game that people might not have realized in a second, but I just also want to point out that for Miami tonight, I mean, you're thinking about five of the first six drives, right? In the first quarter, they go three and out, Stanford had a big drop on third down and there often has some success throwing the ball early, but Miami goes four plays seventy seven yards in a minute 40 three for three is Mensa, ultimately, Mally scores, right? Stanford with a 10 play drive right after that and a field goal, 63 yards, so Ben, but don't break from the defense there, right? Then Alex, we go 10 plays 75 yards, 458, almost five minutes, then three and out for Stanford. Then we get Miami punts first time in the game and we didn't see a lot of pun and Joyce almost had the kick block, but got off a good kick. Right after the 10 play, 75 yard touchdown, two drives later, it's eight for 89 and just

28:45under four minutes. Then it's 11 plays, 65 yards, then seven for 75, then eight for 87, the absolute just controlling the ball and the long drives, a lot of plays controlling the clock as well. So it wasn't just the big plays, they hit the big play, the Tony on the touchdown, they hit some big plays tonight, but that passing game is really good at controlling the clock and control and picking up the first downs, but people who are ripping on the running game, they had some plays where they needed to pick up yardage, they needed to pick up first downs and they were left in second and third and short. A lot of that was the running game. So people who were talking about the running game wasn't there tonight, the running game didn't show up tonight. We only had a hundred and twenty one yards rushing and we average three point eight yards per carry. I mean, I think people are being a little hard on the running game and before I have you chime in on all this, I just want to throw one more thing at you and we don't have the stinger for it right here, but third down execution, Miami eight for 11 on third down tonight.

29:47That sustained touchdown drives prevented Stanford's offense from getting, you know, back out on the field, Mensa de Tony, the opening touchdown was on a third and four, the Josh Moore catch on third and five and wow, he almost made a great catch in the end. Mensa, it took for twenty eight yards on a third down again on a third and four inside the red zone first down Malachi Tony Fletcher gets a third and one conversion on the 89 yard scoring drive. So again, the third down conversions are the X factor tonight, but the way that the offense control the ball long drive after long drive with those third down conversions, everybody's going to talk about Mensa, Malley and the explosiveness of the offense, but those third down conversions and those long drives, those are what win championships on offense. Yeah, and a lot of third and shorts, like even though again, it was a game where the running game wasn't all that explosive, but the short and intermediate passing game was successful as was the downfield passing game. Because I remember a point, it was in the third quarter when Mensa had a third and six, which he converted by the way.

30:48And the TV commentator said, this is actually the longest third down Miami is based all game at third six and third quarter. So they did a good job making the third down's manageable, which is the ultimate secret. You ask any offensive coordinator, what's the secret to success on third down? You win first and second down, right? Because third downs are inevitable, but if you can keep them third and three, third and fourth, third and one, you're going to have a higher success right there. So I thought Miami did a really good job of that. And you know, two, uh, 10 different receivers caught passes for the hurricanes. I think at least seven of those were when Mensa was in the game. So he did spread the football around and Shannon Dawson. That's how he defines balance on offense or how many different guys get touches. A lot of people will say balance means what's the percentage of running plays versus passing plays. That's not the way Dawson defines it. Because you said something earlier, Greece, it's about taking what the defense gives to you.

31:48And if you're getting more things on the perimeter with the passing game, you take it. And if you have 10 different receivers, and let me see how many different running backs, uh, four get touches in this game. Fletcher, Brown, we know Jordan Lyle was an active, uh, Fletcher, Brown, Mallory, Gerard Pringle, all got touches in this game at running back. So you're talking about, um, what 14 different skill position players who touch the football. That's, that's balance right there. So mission accomplished and no, and I, like, oh, I'm sorry. Go ahead. No, you're good. Yeah. So I was just going to say that that's balance when you have 14 different skill guys getting to, and I know obviously some of that you bring the second teamers on, uh, which does kind of skew those numbers a little bit, but still seven or eight of those receivers caught balls when Mensa was in the game. I like how they got Mensa, the 400 yard game on that one play to Tony. And you know what I mean? They got Tony the yardage record and then they took him right out of barcade. Yes. Catches 67 yards and a touchdown for Cooper Barcade. How about Dalyn Ubshaw, man?

32:50How about him tonight, right? Three, three catches 30 yards and a touchdown. Joshua Moore, three for 36, you know, had the conversions. And so they spread the ball around, obviously, and they did a really great job with that as well. But just to your point, spreading the ball around the offense looks like just an embarrassment of riches. If you double Tony, Barcade's going to kill you not to mention the other receivers and the running game, right? If you stack the box, we saw what happened tonight when they stacked the box and took away the run. So maybe the, you know, another team that plays us, focuses more on the outside guys and Tony and Barcade and then Fletcher. And, and I've always, always, always loved Marty Brown. I mean, I, I always loved him. He's great. And he, you know what I mean? So it's exciting to see him playing like that. But I want to get your thoughts because we could go all night and we have a huge audience. So thank you. We appreciate you guys. Hearts on the channel, locked on Cain's, the house that Alex built. But I wanted to talk a little bit more about the defense and some of the young guys, right? Because we talked about the young guys on offense, youth on the offensive line, the young receivers getting involved.

33:51But on the defensive side of the ball, you lose Frederick early. The secondary got tested against an experienced quarterback who's very good. Man, that guy's good. And he was the best player in a Stanford uniform tonight for sure. Yeah. And they had some good ones, right? And they have some players who were going to get drafted pretty high. But when I think about what Miami's defense did tonight, the holding penalties were there. They probably could have called four or five more holds on Stanford, right? They got rid of the ball quickly all night long. Wasn't a lot of opportunities, you know, like a young quarterback holding the ball to get sacks, things like that. But they did collapse the pocket all night long. They did play the run pretty well. They bent, but they didn't break what I didn't like one sack, two tackles for a loss and Alex no turnovers. So I'm scared or alarmed by any of that. I'm just saying that defense and I know for sure with a guy like Corey Heatherman, he's going to let them know. And they're going to hear it from Corey and from Jason Taylor and from those guys as they should. Yeah, I thought in my opinion, Armando Blunt, I thought was Miami's defensive MVP.

34:54He had the one sack. He's the guy who got home in the game had some really successful bull rushes was getting held on numerous occasions. You know, Armando Blunt to me is the closest thing we have this year to Rubin Bain. You know, they played at the same high school. So they're, they're some iron and it's probably not a coincidence, right? Because he played with Bain at Miami Central before he graduated. But you know, he's got that 275 pound frame and he's got the versatility grease because something Miami's able to do with Armando Blunt is they're able to because he is so big. They're able to move him to the interior on third downs and on obvious passing downs when you get your NASCAR package on the field. And they did that a couple times with blunt in this game. And you know, there was a lot that I liked. I actually I thought shout out to Marquis Lightfoot. Because he played well against the run. Five yes. Yes. And not nine total five solos. He led the team in tackles. And I noticed light foot in the run game, which is big because you know, he just put on a bunch of extra way.

36:00There was good weight, muscle and everything to get up to 240. And I think it's paying off because he looked pretty stout against the run in this game, which was was really nice to see. You know, when some of the young guys you mentioned young defense players, I definitely noticed that Kellyn Wiley Jr. Late in the game at linebacker, he finished with four tackles. I had a couple of nice plays when he got in. You know, it wasn't I guess he was going up against first teamers because I don't think Stanford really changed their personnel very much. So like when Miami had their second teamers on Stanford, I think still had a lot of their starters in, which is, which is good because at the end of the day, like it still is a power for conference opponent. Like I don't Stanford is far from the toughest team Miami is going to face this year, but it's not like this was FAMU. Like FAMU is next week like Stanford is an actual power for opponent. And I see Ryan Mac got a little time in the defensive secondary. He's someone in his third year has had a lot of injuries. I really root for him. I want him to come on.

37:02Come all bonner had three tackles. He didn't play much last year due to injury. And JJ Dunnigan had some good moments had a nice tackle late in the game when he got on. I think that's going to be a freshman to watch this year. We've been watching him. The chance of loving and Alex has a lot of Dunnigan in the chat. Yeah, yeah. So I thought he was good as well. And I think those were the ones, forgive me if I left anybody out, but those were some of the defensive players, especially the young guys who stood out to me. All right, so Alex real quick before we wrap this up, 45 points, 544 total yards, 423 through the air, 121 on the ground, 27 first downs, 8 for 11 on third down, only five penalties for 50 yards. But I think four of them came after the backups came into the game and not to put it on them, but you know, it is what it is, right? 32, 24 time of possession. We saw Luke Nichol. He looked pretty good. The interception that he threw was a great play by defense. The ball was right on. Did you know what? That hit the ground, Greece. Did the. I think the eight, the ACC officials like it was an active pity.

38:05Like Stanford was getting killed. The like it was because it was a great play by the DB, but the letter of the law, the replay, that football was not secured. I feel like the ACC reps were like, let's just let them have this one. Let's have this one. And I mean, it's kind of a mercy thing, but men's a 26 or 27 of 30 for over 400 yards. And yeah, those numbers are off. Hold on, give me one second here. That's, that's the wrong. You know, the stats have been wonky. I notice every time I refresh the ESPN stats, they're a little different every time. I don't know what's going on. All the ESPN's a little different every time speaking of wonky. There's not what they used to be, but that, you know, it is what it is. 27 of 30, 412, 5 touchdowns for Mensa, Mali 11, 229, 3 touchdowns over 20 yards per catch. But I was looking for the right numbers for Fletcher who had somewhere in the neighborhood of 40 yards tonight, not a big game for Fletcher, not a big running game for Miami overall. But, you know, I mean, when you think about what their defense did and you think about offensively how well they played and you, and again, you take what the defense gives

39:08you. And even if you don't, if they don't give it to you, you take it anyway with Tony. But I was amazed how they were able, Alex, to get Tony one on one and to get them in favorable situations all night long. And here's the numbers. 13 for 40 for Fletcher, 8 for 37 in a touchdown for Schramar Brown, Mallory 31 yards on three carries late in the game in Pringle, six carries, nine yards. But, you know, I think that you saw Buchanan and Cantwell. And I mean, I think we saw some things from Cantwell tonight, right? I mean, I was, I want to throw him in there. I was pretty encouraged. I mean, he had a couple plays one in particular where he pulled on a touchdown run and sealed the edge completely. Yeah. And I think he's, at some point this year, he's going to cement himself as a starter. I think if anything, there's probably maybe not 100. And this is me. I'm not speaking for the coaches on this one. There may not be like 100% trust in his past protection yet because Greece, he played in an offense in high school that was almost exclusively a rushing offense.

40:12Like they did not throw the football much. So he's a bona fide maller when it comes to run blocking is a true freshman coming out of high school. Yeah. I think if anything, what may have kept him off the field a little bit today was maybe the past pro being still a work in progress, but he's so good. Like he's going to master that at some point. So I don't think there's going to be anything standing in his way for very long. Are you worried about Frederic? Yeah. I mean, I'm always worried. And listen, I'm no doctor. I see a lot of people who aren't doctors who are like diagnosing exactly what all I know was when he walked off the field like his left shoulder, it looked completely limp. I don't know what that means of that's a dislocation. If it's a stinger, you know, I guess if it was a stinger, then that'd be really good because that's not a long-term thing. So I don't know, but obviously you'd be worried because he's I feel he's the best cover corner on this team. I think he's even in my mind, probably slightly ahead of Xavier Lucas, who's also excellent.

41:15But yeah, exactly. Yeah, I mean, if OJ needs to take it easy Thursday night against FAM, you I'm cool with that, but we're going to need him back soon. Yeah, no, and I think that, man, we're going to need to get back on soon. I mean, we have another show coming up. Are we doing our show tomorrow? Like we always do on Saturday. I think we should. Yeah, we do it. We'll do it this up tomorrow morning, but I want to get your final thought before I let you go and wrap the show. But it's just I mean, we talked about what we expected to see and what we really wanted to see in this game. I just don't know how this debut could have gone any better. You can nitpick and say you want more rushing yards, you want more havoc on defense, more sacks, more turnovers. Obviously you want those things and you want to come out healthy and Frederic is a big question mark and a big time key player. But other than those things, are you happy with everything you saw tonight and what would you like to see get better before FAMU and before Wake Forest and we start getting into the season? Yeah, I'm very happy.

42:15I want to make that loud and clear before I nitpick anything from a 39 point victory. Like I'm very happy. Darian Mensa found a way to exceed my expectations. Malakitoni exceeded my expectations after a record setting freshman year. As much as we say about the defense, they kept Stanford out of the end zone. So that was pretty impressive even when they bent. Even when they bent, they never broke in this game. So yeah, I think what I want to see continue to progress and Chris DeBal set it after the game, there's a lot to clean up, right? Which I think is understandable first game of the year with a lot of new personnel. I just want to see more chemistry with the offensive line. They've got to become five men, one mind. I want to see more aggressive man coverage and tighter coverage with the DBs. And I think the defensive line is going to be fine. I think again, the stats, I don't think reflect how well they did because of all the holdings.

43:20So I think that group can continue to set the tone. And I just, I want to see this team become a well oiled machine. And there's no substitute for experience. Miami has a softer schedule early for the next couple of weeks. So I think they're going to have every opportunity to gel. Yeah, and I like what I saw from Nickel too. I want to put that out there. And that deep ball that really wasn't an interception. That ball was right on the money. I like his command out there on the field. And you can see that depth starting to emerge. Alex, man, what a great, great night to be a Miami hurricane. It's nice to be able to nitpick a 39 point win again. I feel like that's what you want to talk about being back. That's probably one of the top indicators of being back right there. Man, we want to imagine if there if there was such a thing as a locked on postcast, like 25 years ago, after Miami beat Washington 65 to seven, we'd be saying, why did we allow a touchdown? What? Seven and come on. Why was it not 65? Nothing. Like it's, you know, sometimes we do these things.

44:21We, if there's never been a perfect performance. So we nitpick. I love it, Alex, because that's who we are as Miami hurricane fans. We expect and we demand perfection. And we have that back. So no matter what we've thought or said about Mario over the years, the improvements been dramatic and tremendous. They're recruiting the portal and just seeing the whole culture and the toughness. We talked about number one, the toughness, the physicality. I think that was your first key that you mentioned that you wanted to see was the toughness and the man handling of Stanford. And we saw that. And I want to add one more thing. These two defensive ends are going to be really good. Blunt and light food. I can't wait to watch them grow and evolve throughout the year. Bain and Mesud are talked about them a little bit. And it was nice to see those two guys show up on their off week before the season starts. And Michael, of course, is there and Edge was there. And it's just that's what we get now with this you. But I appreciate you always and I'll see you in, I mean, a little less than like 11 hours. Do live programming. Could we do Sunday? He placed his own name atop the history books with the Miami Hurricanes. And he's still just getting started. He's still a teenager for crying out loud that defense didn't dominate every snap. It didn't create enough pressure. It didn't force a turnover, but it never allowed Stanford into the end zone. The running game, no question we have work to do there. The offensive line going to continue to grow in jail.

47:24Miraball and Christopher not going to be happy with a lot of the things they saw tonight. That's a good thing for growth, right? Special teams got to be better, even though Malachai didn't really get chances to return punts tonight and who's going to give him that chance, right? You're going to hang the ball a mile in the air or you're going to angle it for the sidelines. But every Hurricanes fan will be waiting anxiously for news about OJ Fred or Rick shoulder. And that could be disastrous, you know, in worst case scenario or it could be all right. You know, I mean, you got fan you, you got wake and you could afford to let him heal up. You need to, right? But here's the thing that I want everybody to keep top of mind right here. Miami traveled across the country. It's the longest in conference game trip. Anything will make this year because Stanford should be in the Atlantic coast conference, right? Miami travels over 3000 miles to Stanford. They win an ACC road game by 39 points. You get five touchdown passes from Mensa. You get a receiving record from Malachai Tony, five touchdowns on the first six drives of the game.

48:25It was not the one at the end of the half, right? The dream ended one victory short last season 40 yard short as a matter of fact, maybe just a couple of yard short on that back pass, right? But the next chase began tonight and it began with a storm on the West Coast. Mensa and Malley, the M&M boys, one and two, baby.
