Arch Manning. Oh my goodness. All right. We got Joe daily on 320. John Fanta 420 Albert Brear at 520. It is a loaded Tuesday show. We have Jack's Gregory. I'm the boy. Yes. Katie Pollock doing the updates. Jake Maureen producing today's show. And that voice you just heard Nick Padone in for Nick Wilson today. How you doing today, Nick? Hello, I'm doing very well, Jonathan. I am running on literally zero hour sleep. But that is the best way to do a radio show. I've been hard disagree. I don't know who told you that hard disagree. I'm absolutely wired right now. Now it's okay. Maybe because you can have yourself like a fever dream. So you can just give all these takes and then you can just act as if it happened and you weren't even really there for it. Maybe is that why it's the best way imaginable? I when I get tired when I get over tired. My brain kind of like when I'm drunk. My brain just does not work the same way. I just I I'm not a super computer. I'm not Dylan Gabriel. But like I need to be processing at a high enough speed. If I if I'm really really tired or really really drunk, it just doesn't work.

Well, I guess we've got five hours to figure out how might it will be a fun science experiment. Will it not over the over the next five hours? I guess I'm worried for you at like six o'clock. I'm worried for you. No, nothing to worry about. I will be fine. So what happened? Why are you on zero hours of sleep? Well, we launched the site last night, JP. I like to talk to these sides. I've been working on this for a grand total of like one week. Okay. It has been the most jam packed week of my I probably had more phone calls with people that understand back ends of websites at a caliber that I could never fathom or comprehend over the last week. And that's what last night was. We switched the site over last night at like midnight or around 12.31 the morning. Why not? Why not it like fun? Because there's there's people on. So like if you have like active users on the site, like you don't want to just you don't want this site to just like go down.

Oh, just crashes then. I guess I know nothing about the internet world. I've literally I've had a like literally seven day crash course on the internet. So like I'm catching up to speed on it. That kind of sucks for the developers though and everyone involved. You're like, I got to be up at one o'clock in the morning to make sure nobody's around. Well, I was curious. I was like, you know, it's like that's kind of funny. I'm on this meeting. I don't know how much of this I should share, but screw it. I'm on this meeting. There's like business development people, you know, so so suits on there. At midnight one in the morning. I'm like hiding in my basement because I don't want to wake up. Cam, Cam has to go work like a, you know, actual job. In normal job. Yeah. Very early in the morning. And here I am, you know, up switching site branding over. So I was in the basement. Like it's very dark down there. I'm like wondering are all these people judging me? Slash, where are there significant others at? Because I'm not the only one in this position where it's nighttime where I'm at. It's nighttime where most of these people are at.

Why is everybody just kind of hiding in the same way and like trying to speak very softly? It didn't seem like it though. It seemed like some people based on their office backgrounds were in their actual office or maybe even like a kitchen. I don't know. The whole thing was bizarre. Cam slept through the night. I'm pretty sure. So I didn't wake her up. It does kind of feel like it's something really nefarious is happening. You know, it's like one o'clock in the morning. You got these developers that are later in the late at night playing in the dark web of the internet. That is just your new website. You could convince yourself you're doing really elaborate oceans 11 type stuff. It really did feel that way, especially logging in, especially kind of telling Cam throughout the day. I was like, well, I've got to click on this call with these developers a bit. Definitely felt like kind of big time. But then like in the first five minutes when I just wasn't saying a whole lot, because I just didn't have a whole lot to say as it turns out about developing websites, it kind of just turned into me just sitting there watching everybody do the work. Okay. And that's fair too. So you're not, you could have just slept, I guess. And then I, and then they would say, how does this look? And I say, I say, that looks absolutely great.

Like, because it does. Like, that's what these people do for a look like they know how to make it look really good right away. So much better than I could do. You're doing fantastic. All right, I love that. All right. Again, big show today. As always on Tuesdays. Joe De Leon at 320, Alper Brewer at 520, John Fanta at 420. Where I want to start though is Mary Kate Cabbage. She was on the midday show today and she had this to say about whether or not people are over reacting to week one. I feel like people are kind of over reacting. It was overreaction Monday in a huge, huge way really to the performance of Dishon Lawson. It was not great. It wasn't great. But neither was the performance of Baker Mayfield. He stumbled the ball away three times and nobody's talking about benching him. The first week of the season is it's a tough week and you have to remember to show you guys a week. After remember, Dishon Lawson was shaking off the rust of 22 months of not having played for 22 months. 693 days. I think a lot of it was the mental aspect of wondering if he was going to be able to stay healthy after not having taken a hit and so long and coming off of two Achilles surgeries.

So I think once he worked through some of that, then I think he started to settle in a little bit in the second half. And I agree with the decision to start him this week. So what's interesting about this is the idea that if you want to put Dishon versus Baker, that's one way we can look at this obviously. But I think the obvious difference there is that Baker Mayfield has earned the benefit of the doubt. Dishon Lawson hasn't earned that. The man in the last five years he hasn't earned that. When she said that, I almost crashed my car. I was in the car driving here. When I heard her say that, I almost swerved into the other lane. Because I was like, what kind of crazy universe am I living in right now? We're really talking about Dishon Lawson. I love Mary K. by the way, like a hall of fame journalist. What world are we living in though? Where we haven't seen enough of Dishon Lawson. We've seen plenty. We have seen plenty of Dishon Lawson. So the difference that difference in this though, 20. There is a top number of difference. I'll tell you the difference. We've seen it all. Me and you and Mary K and all these different people that have covered the Browns for a million years. We've seen it all to a degree.

Todd Munkin hasn't though. And I think that's the lens that Mary K is operating through. And this is where I think, although I disagree with the premise that there's a bunch of overreaction happening to Dishon Lawson. One thing I've been pretty firm on and I think a lot of people are just missing in the big broad convoy of this. Frankly, I hope I'm wrong about is that you have to look at these things through the Browns and Todd Munkins lens and how they see this. They don't look at Dishon Lawson as a one week and we're just going to pull the rug out and be done with this. We all are done with this. We were done with it before it ever started. And that's part of the difference. They're not and they've given us no signs that they are. You're not wrong about that, especially just because they had the out when Watts and took out his flame thrower after that. That feels preseason games. They couldn't have the eject button. He gave them an out and they refused to take it. So that decision showed you that they were actually serious about putting him on the field because they had some wiggle room to get off from this and to not put him back on the field.

So they genuinely for whatever reason believe that he gives them the best chance to win. And then as a fan, okay, now that's skew in my opinion on Todd Munkin because I wanted to be like Nick. I wanted to be trust in Todd. You almost said like me. That's not true. I thought I thought you know he was been moderately Todd Nick has been trust in Todd. I've always been there. You know, I came into this thinking that maybe he is a piece of what they've been missing just because he was sold to me. So he was sold to us as this honest Abe type figure that's going to come in here and tell it how it is. And he's going to coach guys up and create all these great relationships with players. And now how many of us have you already caught him in already? So many. And then all these great relationships with players. I got Ronnie Hickman saying that the quarterback decisions above his pay grade. He doesn't want to talk about the starting quarterback decision because he doesn't want to get himself in trouble. Because if you say anything about this quarterback situation, you're going to get yourself in trouble. So like that's where we're at with this dude. And I can't I can't just sit here and say that the reaction from the Browns fans has been an over reaction.

If anything, I'd push back against it and say it's been an under reaction and under Browns fans. I thought it was going to be louder on Monday. I thought yesterday was going to be a hell of a lot crazier. I thought it was somewhat muted. You had people pointing to well, if you look at the numbers, they act. The numbers actually show you had a 98 KBR. Like that was weird people on the internet. I feel like when we talked to Browns fans, we opened up the phone lines. It was five hours of what the hell are we doing? You know, it was five hour actual Browns fans and people the call into the station. It was five hours of what are you guys doing with Deshaun Watson? Well, good because that's what the reaction should be. If there are Browns fans in Tampa listening to us right now in the free Odyssey app, which I know there are because Darryl and I take calls from Florida every Sunday on the Sunday show. Darryl loves the call outside of Ohio. He does. His map game, he zooms all the way out. We do it really. He's really excited. But we know that there are people down there listening to us right now who are Browns fans in Florida. Go to the game and boo. If you're upset with the product, go into that stadium, we are Raymond James.

And here, you know, let him hear you. And week three against Carolina, it's going to be the same scene here, Jonathan, because until they change something, this is just going to be more of the same. I guess what I want to get across is the idea that the Browns and the fans just don't think the same way. And it doesn't mean by the way that I think the Browns think correctly. I think the fans are thinking correctly this entire stretch of the way you me. I think we've thought correctly on this, but it's just it hasn't added up. One plus one doesn't equal to in these discussions because the Browns don't look at Deshaun Watson as just a one week trial. And I would really hope that they would look at it as I like, hey, we're done after two weeks. We don't want to throw them out there in front of the home crowd, but I can't promise you that they look at it that way. I really can't. So we're trying to ask guys two one six four seven four to below 92. What exactly does Deshaun have to do to lose this job? If he gives you exactly the same performance he did in week one in week two, the expectation I have is not that they'll bench them. It's that they'll keep trotting them out there. And until they show me they're not going to be stubborn about this thing, I'm left to believe Deshaun Watson's got a little bit of a leash.

It sounds insane Nick, but this is where we're at with this team. It's absolutely where we're like like nothing about this week has shown that they've even considered it, right? Like I don't even think I don't even think it's in a in consideration. You know where it maybe felt like Sunday he kind of left the door open because he didn't touch the starting quarterback thing until Monday. But then yesterday when he met with the reporters on zoom, he ripped the bandaid off from Jump Street saying that Watson was going to be his quarterback. And even Sunday his whole I'm not firing myself. I'm not firing our staff. I'm not firing all the players. Like, oh, you don't have to fire all of them. You don't have to fire yourself and you don't have to fire the whole staff. But maybe you should fire the guy that's been unplayable since he arrived in Cleveland in 2022. And I get that his lens is that he wasn't around for any of that stuff that happened before. History matters though. Maybe you should go take a look at some of that stuff. I also think you don't exclusively give every practice rep and everything for the previous couple weeks with the idea that, oh, you get one game. And that's it. I just like that all the signs have been there the entire time. The signs have been there that they're going to start on week one for seven months.

And now the signs have continued on that they're going to continue to play until they are absolutely unequivocally sure that the old Dishon Watson's not coming back. They're going to play a lot of people think that like the change happens Jonathan this week that like if it goes bad against Baker and Tampa, you can't let them play in the opener in our stadium because of the booing. I don't know that they care. I don't think they care. I don't think they care. They'll say hold my beer. They'll watch it happen to 1647 for to below 92. What exactly does the Sean have to do to lose this job and is there an element of self sabotage with the Sean as well? It's John of the Pito and Nick Padone afternoon drive with you guys right here on the fan. I want to talk about the Brown speed riders who say that the interceptions to Sean Watson was throwing were the same interceptions they saw over and over again in August practice. So now stand on TV too. You see the beginning of plays and you go oh well there's a linebacker there. Surely he's going to layer this threat. It's not going to fire it at the linebackers numbers. Guess what does Sean Watson did? He fired it right at the numbers. And he tried to throw more picks than he actually did. Maybe he's hurt in which case he shouldn't be starting. Does he even want to play?

Is there an element of self sabotage? And that might not be intentional? I don't think he's tanking games. Does he seem engaged? Is he putting in the work necessary to be starting quarterback in the NFL? It's a really hard thing. Dishon Watson can't do it. That's Kevin Clark, ESPN. Earlier today it is John of the Pito and Nick Padone here with you guys on afternoon drive. I mean if you want to build a case for self sabotage with the Sean Watson going back to the Houston days I think you can find it. I've caught myself wondering if this whole thing is just like a humiliation ritual. Because like dude like he has no chance when he's out there and everybody knows it. So that's like the crazy piece of it. Is that like in the NFL like this is like one of the like I guess like the secrets are like the behind the scenes thing in the NFL is like the players know the players know who's good and who's staying. That's usually an NBA mantra that we live by like NBA players they know who can play and who can't play football. I always think it gets a little dice here, but you're not wrong. Like especially at the quarterback position where it's so obvious. I think we're see for is another one where it's pretty obvious.

You know our guys getting open or are they not are they catching the football or are they not like with quarterback it's somewhat easy to evaluate if you're playing like garbage. And it's on tape and these guys have to go in Monday and sit down and watch the tape from the all 22. They're not watching the broadcast. They're watching the eye in the sky angle and watching every mind numbing Dishon Watson mistake. And I've caught myself wondering like is this just a humiliation ritual because this is somebody that that just does not belong on an NFL field and quite literally everybody knows it. So I again I think you can build a case for self sabotage. I do I think there's something real about that. But I also think that might be very very kind to what his talent ability is right now. Like like saying self sabotage is almost giving him a pass in this equation. And what I don't think that he earns I just think he's not very good at quarterback. I feel like I feel like even in Houston if you go all the way back. I used to have Texans fans always tell me because I have a lot of Houston friends because I lived in Houston. And they'd be like check it out. It's a lot of garbage time passes. It's a lot of garbage time play.

We won four games and a lot of it happened the 4,800 yard season a lot of it happened and of game. And it's like what would you just see in game one that was the perfect week one was the perfect encapsulation of what Texans fans told me forever. I'm not even passing. Look like he did all right look that you got over 200 yards okay but okay performance this and that it's like well no it yet to watch the game watch the game was not a good if you watch the game like you understand that like the game was really over with six minutes to go. Before half time the game was over because you were young by more than three. 24 nothing out of into the half and then it's obviously 31 nothing because they got the first drive Jacksonville did out of the half but I don't want to make it seem like to Sean Watson. Stunk up the joint for all time no there was a time where there was good football in there I can acknowledge that but after so many injuries and so many years and so much just not doing it. The idea that he still has it existing somewhere in his body is just not something I ever believe so I guess I guess I'll ask you do you think it's more self sabotage or do you think it just doesn't have the talent.

It's just doesn't have it like like you know and maybe at some point I do wonder if they'll try to spin it as self sabotage that Cleveland was never the right fit for him I wonder if he kind of plays some of the Johnny Man's L hits where he just you know torches the browns when this is all over. I know it doesn't have a card well especially like right if he wants to play in this league which he continue is stating that he wants to be a QB in the NFL he wants to take this opportunity to prove that he belongs he turned 31 years old yesterday. So there still should be something in there I just don't believe it is mentally or physically by the way. Yeah, I mean that's the problem he seems like he's mentally and physically just done and but that is going to be the card he plays though Nick he's going to go to another team or he's going to try to latch on to another team on the idea of nobody could do it in Cleveland. Yep. And we're going to take the brunt of that because right now we don't have much evidence to suggest that he's wrong it we just don't I wish we did we don't. I do think our evidence is exactly what you pointed to though and I remember exactly what you're talking about when that trade happened.

There were a lot of people like ripping the Texans like beat and Texans media for kind of sending some of those warning signals to the browns. Oh yeah, they tried to tell anyone that would listen to just the fact that like is he a good quarterback yeah like he was they were acknowledging that they were just saying hey a lot of the stats are very empty. This was a team that won four games and a lot of the stuff came in the fourth quarter everybody brought out the pitch for us towards the Texans media when they were trying to warn us about all of that. I remember we brought a couple of those people you know onto the station. I remember listening to you know some of the people in the Texans beat. I can hear right now my buddy Nick Sheraro just hosted the SBN station and like he did very much like it's all garbage time and I'm like okay. And like it wasn't like a warning. I guess they like they weren't sending us like a warning but it was like they really were trying to make us aware of it. But everybody just dunked on them at the time and man where they write like he cannot function when when the first string defense is on the field he just can't. Two one six four seven four to below 92. No it's obviously a real problem.

But it's funny because it might be a lack of talent and I don't think it's I don't think it's self sabotage although we can point to a million reasons for why you can make a case. Ideally if you're trying to like really paint a picture of self sabotage I would point to preseason game number two before I point to what happened in week one right here. I mean preseason game number two in the post game press conference that happened afterwards you talk about self sabotage that was a man asking yeah to be not starting week one dude like my interpretation of what happened after that Buffalo game was him taking himself out of the quarterback competition. That's kind of how I thought that it should have happened in most normal spots that would have happened that way. That's like how it came off but but like the book bizarre part about it you know was and why definitely don't think that it is like self sabotage is because that there were some hits they took in that Jaguars game where I was kind of wondering like is he gonna pop back up like like there were some times where he got popped and I was like well if you ever wanted to just roll over and pretend like none of this happened like he had the opportunity but I guess if he deserves any credit

which he really doesn't at least he was continuing to get up and go to the line of scrimmage and they're making him earn this money they certainly are doing that. All right two on six four seven four to below 92 is there an element of self sabotage with Dishon Kevin up next on the fan what's up Kevin. Hey yeah this Kevin Cleveland man I just like so many directions I can point out with this guy you know every one of my friends even my 72 year old mother doesn't like the way he plays and the statements he made at that Buffalo game I was there at the Buffalo game when my friend JJ and when that hand got hit I was pretty far back I could actually see but to me it looked like you just threw the ball on the on the grass it didn't stadium erupted in booze like this guy is horrible he was horrible now I can't say like I agree on oh when he got high people were booing but it's it let it to that just a bad play the bad throws the attitude you know when you when you when you when you had your injury and your party in and Florida and you get re-exercise this goes back to me playing high school

and listening to these coaches you cannot play around if you're going to be about business to get on this football field be about business be about your work as it can stay in the work as it go go on party and don't go on hanging out all night and just the stuff in Texas he looked at good and the warning signs was there to me I honestly think he cannot read the play he don't know which way the angle to throw the ball and I was listening to the three to three to fan of earlier last maybe about two years ago and they were explaining that the show was and had a assistant that he will look to the final line when the players was called and he threw the play out there to the guys in the huddle so that was the child's report yeah Kevin I appreciate you that was the Charles Robinson report about in his the headset in his helmet and it would obviously in the NFL that gets cut off with 15 seconds left to go but Bill Brian was telling him everything now it's different here Nick is the idea that it seems like he's doing a lot at the line I mean it seems like

that the first time that the first time Watson spoke and it was like the first time we had heard from him in 18 months and he was talking about the fact that he liked you know all the control that he can have the line of scrimmage and changing plays and audible and a lot of things and I do remember kind of like giggling to myself at the time because it was really when you know the browns were trying to prime us for the fact that Dishon Watson was starting and you know the narrative of the game is going to be a lot of things and Watson was starting and you know the narrative was very much so well look at this he say how much he loves this new fit with Todd Monkin and that he's going to have you know he used the Tom Brady treatment was what Dishon said that you get this offense and he said it was very similar to what he had in Houston with Bill O'Brien but everybody forgets about exactly what we're talking about here that's that Charles Robinson reports and well Bill O'Brien was doing awfully lot of handholding for you like maybe you and Bill O'Brien were sharing a plate like all of that was not on your plate. Yeah, and it's something that I if I was Monkin and Monkin denied actually talking to Bill O'Brien at any point if I was Monkin maybe I want to reach out

I reach out to Bill O'Brien and maybe heard exactly how it was done maybe what you can and cannot do to replicate some of that but Monkin loves he's hard headed but he loves his own way and that can be to default sometimes and I think in this instance it might have been to a fault reached out to Davao Davao came by that was great but like that's not that's not really what I wanted to see I wanted to see you talk to Bill O'Brien for some reason but that wasn't in the cards. Like isn't this sad though that like this is also what it what's to fall into like like Bill O'Brien was his coach when he was in his early 20s. Yeah, he turned 31 yesterday. Yeah, I know. But isn't that kind of sad but if you're going to try to revive the only time that he was good that's where we have to go to. We have to go to the time when he was in his early 20s. We have to we have to discuss what did actually make the light bulb go on and what worked for him and if there's anything they can actually get out of it. I maintain there isn't I think he's cooked. We've talked about this a lot this off season about my belief in that and now we're starting to see it in the regular season. It's just when the Browns will wake up and realize that two 16474 0092 can in Aurora.

You're up next in the fan. What's up, Ken? Hey, fellows. Good afternoon. I've been laughing my head off. Listen to you guys saying that everybody knows that the Sean Watson is who we thought he is. Yet the coaching staff does not seem to see that. So that's shocker number one number two. You asked a question earlier. What does he have to do to get bench? Yeah. I hope whatever that is. He doesn't accomplish it because I want to see him get booed out of the stadium when they. I want to see Cleveland fans let them know I've heard munkin for the last two weeks say the fans don't matter. I want to hear them non stop talk about how bad they were booed and have no choice to go to Shadour. And lastly, Mary Kay, I like her too, but I don't understand what she was watching in the second half. He couldn't manage her control the offense at all. Delay game, delay game. It was pathetic. So I'll let you go. Thank you. All right. Thank you, Ken. I appreciate you.

Yeah. Nick, it does kind of have a, a, from me, I love historical Cleveland sports stuff. And it just kind of feels like we're going to, we're entering one. If he does make the week three start, we're entering one where you know going into it, that that's going to be something that people talk about for the next. I don't know 30 years. Like the game that to Sean just got obliterated with booze after booze after booze every time he talks about it. You can see it. You can see like the making of a great Cleveland sports story. I've been liking it. I've been liking it to LeBron's first game back in Cleveland as a member of the Miami. 2020 every time he touched the ball, everyone just booed like crazy. We're like made it. But then it was awesome in that game. Right. But maybe that's what you know week three becomes like that sort of environment for a home player would be would be bananas. It would be bananas for a home player. But funny thing about the NFL and how this works is that he'd get booed like crazy. But then if you actually converted a couple of first downs, you'd watch as the game moves on and it would go into cheers pretty quickly. Let's find out. You know, you mentioned Todd Munkin saying that the fans don't matter. Ken and Aurora did on the phone there. We'll find out.

Do the fans matter. Yeah, don't threaten me with a good time. I'd love to see some booze. I'd sign up for some booze, but I'm a boo guy though. We've established this in the show. I got no problems with standing up and booing things that I don't like or don't appreciate. I'd booed like crazy if I was going to the game. All right, two, one, six, four, seven, four to below 92. Obviously we got a lot of a lot of show to talk about this. And we'll get John Fann has taken 420 and out for a prayer at 520 and Joe daily on it, 320. But as always, at 240, it's time for quick hits in five minutes right here in the fan. Mr. Moment here show you the rewind feature on the Odyssey app powered by integrated restoration, your local experts in water, fire and storm disaster restoration. All right, back in the here on the fan. It is afternoon drive, Jonathan Piedle and Nick Padone here with you guys. Joe Danley own joining us in 40 minutes. Now it's time for quick hits from the latest news and rumors around the sports world. To the sound bites you need to hear. Hi, hi, it's quick hits. All right, we're going to start off in Kansas City last night as they just dismantle the Broncos

and make easy work of Denver. There's a lot of conversation about this game and there's a couple of things. Kenneth Walker looking awesome. Travis Kelsey having a couple really nice plays. Seems like my homes in the chiefs are going to be back at the top again. And then there's the Denver side of that just absolutely face planning. Just a complete, complete different story for each of these two teams in front. Inter division matchup. I thought we were in for a good game last night. I thought we were in for a highly contested game against a Broncos team. You know, on the rise, the chiefs team trying to figure things out. No, no, no, I had that read completely wrong. The chiefs are back to the chiefs are going to be a threat in this AFC. I think. Yeah, I mean, I debated it. We had a couple guests on and they were there were man, who was it? What's the other player do we have on? I can't remember what it was where we just debated went back and forth. He's like, tell me the places that the chiefs are better than the Broncos. And I said it's quarterback and it's head coach. He's like, well, tell me where else. And I'm like, you don't need anywhere else. And now you need, like now I can start adding some some other

else. But how about the Kenneth Walker department? We were talking Jack's Crawley and I before the show. Do the Seahawks feel dumb even though they won the Super Bowl with the guy. Like, what were they doing? Given Zack Sharpen, they want to pay. I know they didn't want to pay Walker. But it's interesting. I mean, my homes has never had a thousand yard rusher in any year that he's been the starter for the Kansas City chiefs. Now you have a real threat in the run game. I don't know that we're getting that Kelsey every week, but that was fun to see. And I don't know what you do if you're Denver right now. The idea that I mean, John Payton gives up the play calling duties gives it to Davis Webb, who is a child still. You got to take him back. I mean, I think Davis Webb might be your age. You got to take the play she back. I didn't see the halftime interview. They're like, oh, so how do you think the play calling has been going? He's like, well, I'll tell you more at the, we'll see how the second half goes. Before we go much better when miserably, when absolutely miserably, I think people saw regression coming for the Broncos. There's a lot of reasons reasons why it should have had regression. But last night, that was a statement win by the chiefs.

It absolutely was. And for Denver, like I genuinely do feel like this is a division loss. Like it is just week one, but it's back to the drawing board because Bonyx looked awful. Then tire offense looked broken. You traded for Jalen Waddle. He had one catch in the game. You're that was your first row draft. Yeah, the Bonyx interception early in that game was one of the more comical interceptions I've seen in a while, just a disaster performance by a quarterback that nobody's ever really believed in. They're still going to have a really good defensive defensive team. Even though they obviously didn't go great for them last night, they'll still be really good defensively. They're going to have one of the best offensive lines in the sport, but it's got to get a lot better than it was last night. All right, obviously the quiet Leonard Los Angeles clippers investigation has settled. The hammer came down on the clippers and Steve Balmer to the tune of five first round draft picks and millions and millions of dollars. But after all of this is done, the trade is official and quiet Leonard is a member of the Toronto Raptors. As we sit here right now today, Stephen A Smith was on first take today and

had quite the comparison for quiet Leonard upon the trade being finalized with Toronto. For him to cause all the trouble that he has caused for this organization and to walk away with nothing more than having to surrender $700,000 worth the restitution is a crime. Quiet Leonard and I said this the other day he's against. I mean, instead of fear he broke the rules, got caught, pointed the finger at somebody else through the organization under the bus. God has money and left the country. I mean, damn, how much better can it get than that? All right. I mean, we all knew Kauai got away with this year. I mean, it's kind of a decent comparison. It reminds you of some of these, you know, these rappers that get in trouble and then they, you know, they, they snitch and they get that snitch label put on them. And then they are even conveniently out of trouble. It is kind of what Kauai pulled over. He didn't snitch on anything. But the difference in that and what I would kind of what I would say, what I think you're getting at is that public. And that's what Tori did all the snitching.

Like, if we, if we find out years down the line that really Kauai was just funneling all this info to public. He put public. He put public. What a layer to the whole. Maybe we can go down that road. And it also would be incredibly stupid of him because Kauai was just making money hand over fist and being given all this money from these different companies. So like the idea, the only way it works full circle for me is if he actually did end up snitching. But why would he ever snitch on himself? It makes no sense. I don't think that he would. No, I don't think he would. Mythbusters. No, he just, he just got away with, it's got free. Yeah, I did. Welcome to, welcome to life as an NBA player. These guys always get away. Scott free when it comes to the punishments attached to one or, by the way, not crimes NBA crimes. That's all this is like I, that said, the part of this that they kind of bothered me at the end of the day is the amount of people that really acted like Kauai Leonard did something that was so beyond reproach and so disingenuous and so this and that. No. Oh, he was offered a salary and then on top of it then he found a way to go

ahead and get paid millions upon millions more and he took it. That's not the end of the world. If they, the NBA's got a problem with that fix it and the NBA is working on trying to fix it. He didn't do anything illegal. The defense is also pretty good too. Oh, I didn't know. Okay. That's a, that's a pretty good defense. As far as he thought, he was just playing within the blue poles that was constructed by the NBA already. 100%. All right. You guys, let me do endorsements. What's the difference between Gatorade and this company that owns part of the Quippers? I can't find the, I can't find the difference. Now, I mean, in the back of his mind, he had to have known Gatorade exists and the other company does not have to have known, but it was on the NBA to close those blue poles. It was on the NBA to make sure that that wasn't a problem. And clearly we found out the NBA's not there. And we're too happy about that. But I, no, I listen, I, the people that think Kauai is going to get suspended for like seven years off of this. I don't know. La, La, Wanger living in the NBA's worst if he gets suspended by the way. The NBA needs Kauai in Toronto. And yet it's better with him in Toronto being able to play for the Raptors this year than anything. I, no, ridiculous take by Stephen A.

Just a ridiculous take. But he said it so nicely. So we're bound to believe it. All right. Let's go back to the Broncos. Broncos reportedly called Drew Breeze about the 2026 AFC championship game return. One of them, the first times in January 17th, 2021, he was 47 years old when they made this call. Obviously there's a Sean Payton connection here. Sean Payton Drew Breeze, when a Super Bowl. What this worked? How do you feel about this report coming out today if your name is Jared Stittum? Is really what I was curious about just because like, man, they would have been gambling on a dude who hadn't played in years. I mean, I think I said who was their backup for the whole season. Yeah, but I think it was obvious for why they didn't believe in Jared Stittum. Even Jared Stittum's family can recognize why it was obvious that they didn't believe in Jared Stittum. Well, it became very obvious for Jared, especially if you didn't think that before the game, it became pretty obvious during the AFC championship. Dude, like, I wish this would have happened though. Don't you? Like, I kind of would have really liked to see this. I'm a little bummed that it didn't think it would do.

Think it would have been any good. No. I mean, when Phil Rivers came back after five years, the problem would Drew Breeze. Did he win that first game? Did Rip? I'm thinking of Jeff Saturday's first game. He was head coach. Then I had my wrong bizarre Indianapolis cult story. Rivers went O and three, but he did, he threw a couple of touchdowns. It didn't look awful. That was the point. It didn't look awful. It didn't look like he was just throwing up on his shoes the entire game. I don't know. I don't know the problem with Drew Breeze though. Phil Rivers, when he retired, you're never like always got a, his arm looks like he's a part of the Golden Girls. With Drew Breeze, that's what it, that's what it started to look like. And he's admitted, you know, since, you know, his retirement, just that he's, you know, had calls from other teams and just that the body physically isn't there. So I do think that that's probably what this ended up being, right? That he just couldn't physically do it. Yeah. I think if he would have, but now what they should have done, if they're just calling people, they should have called Tom Brady. I mean, Brady in the AFC title game, all you have to do is go out there and, and I don't know, would Brady have looked at that as damaging to his legacy? There's no way he wouldn't have been able to do it with all the logistics and paperwork because he owns a percentage of the ranger.

I don't think I know the, and then Fox and their suits get involved. They're mad about it. Also, you got to remember who he was playing against that. He'd be playing against the Patriots. Oh, that would have been crazy. If he was any team but New England, I think he would have strongly considered it. That would have been a crazy angle. No doubt about that. All right, Ohio State. Who you guys have on? Love him. That's my guy. Yeah. Barstool sports had to spend, what's worth native vocal kid done good? Had to spend 14 hours inside of a Chicago based McDonald's yesterday, dressed in full makeup as Ronald McDonald because he had a punishment for the buck eyes game. He does this every Saturday, every Ohio State game, JP, where he has a bizarre punishment that if Ohio State loses to their opponent, he has a thing he has to do last year when Ohio State lost against Oregon, he had to eat like a nose insane amount of peeps. Yesterday, because they lost to archmaning, he had to spend a lot of hours inside of a McDonald's eating a bunch of big Macs.

And for every burger that he ate in our got shaved off of his time inside of the establishment, there was a little debate in my group chat, though, about how difficult that challenge actually is. I didn't think it was that difficult. Now that one video he has, if him dressed up as Ronald McDonald and the kid, he's like, oh, this, this effing kid is coming over. It's one of the fun. He is the guy to see it all year. The kid wants to, the kid genuinely thinks he's getting a picture with Ronald McDonald and he's actually just getting a picture with like a, you press still Ohio State fan doing a dumb dare inside of the McDonald's middle of a day on a monitor. I'm selective of when I, when I message Tate and tell him like that was really historical and that one, that one almost crossed my border because that was, it was really, really funny because it was just so not like him too. The other part, he's exiled, he's done with, he's done with all of it. He's done with the McDonald's. He's dressed in this, he basically turned into the bad Santa version of Ronald McDonald. That's a historical to me. No, I don't think it was particularly difficult, though. I don't think so either. Like I think the hard part about that one is I don't think it was high.

I don't think it was that high. I think like if I skip food for a day and then like I went to the gym in the morning and then you know, breeze into McDonald's, like, how many big max in a day do you think you could take down? In a day, well, one day, I mean, obviously I think you did nine or something like that. I think where he went wrong is he, he tried to polish like three or four upon that, like entering the establishment. And I think like that's going to slow you down. Whereas like if he, if he maybe tried to space him out a little bit more, he took two in the morning at seven thirty. Like that's. And then, and then I know I actually serve big max till like 10 30. So then I think he waited till 10 30 or 11 to start the next round. I think I'd be able to, I think I'd be able to surprise myself in there. I think I'd be able to put away a good number. I think old me could have done really well. I think current me would be very disappointed. I get so I always get really excited for like all you can eat buffets. And then every time I go, I just don't have the best performance. All you can eat sushi's as well. Yeah. I just don't think the sushi's very good at all. You can eat sushi's the other part of that. It's just not, I've just made peace with the idea. It's a substandard of sushi.

It's just not the quality. It's just not nearly as good. But I get all hyped up and I get excited. I'm like, I'm going to eat $75 worth of sushi. And then I never perform well. I just, I, I'm always like, Oh no, I already had a big lunch. Like it just always, it never, it never works well for me. But you told me big max in 24 hours. Maybe like six, maybe six or seven. It's just not a food that I feel confident in. There's certain foods you know you could eat a million of. I get a million shrimp. No problem. I can, I can house shrimp. I'm not, I'm not taking down a bunch of big max. It just doesn't work for me. All right. 2647, 40, 092 Joe De Leon who once spent 24 hours in a waffle house for his bed. That was very similar to that. He'll join us at 320. What week one outcome worked out best for which quarterback? We'll talk about it next. 2647, 40, 092 right here in the fat. I mean, it seems impossible to think that that Deshaun will get all 17 games. So it's like, she door is going to get an opportunity. Now we debate about what week that is and we've done a lot of that. But like, if you tell me in the back of Shadour's mind and he's not going to think this way

because he's going to take the high road because he's a good human like that. But like between us friends here, Nick, between me and you, we don't have to take the high road. No, no, no, no. And as a competitor, like it's got to be in there somewhere where he knows in the back of his mind that Deshaun stunk up the joint and that he's got to be extra ready because that opportunity could come maybe sooner than he thought initially. I just don't think you could have drawn it up any better than what happened if your Shadour Sanders. I find me another way where week one goes differently and it's somehow even better for Shadour. There's no, the only thing is maybe, maybe Deshaun doesn't connect on the 50 yard touchdown at the very end. Is that it? Yeah. Like strip that away. And like, you know, it technically inflates the numbers, you know, at the end. So right strip that away. It's funny. Is nobody, nobody cared about that throw and nobody is using that to be like, oh, Deshaun was actually really good. Like nobody, nobody is making that claim outside of Quincy Avery. Hey, you, you know who did, you, Denzel Boston was really good on that throw though. Well, yeah, because he's really good. Because I've always believed in Denzel. Me too. Me too. Like that was, that was just such an encouraging sight.

And I know there's stuff going around today that was, that was the longest touchdown pass in the NFL in week one. And here's Cleveland media dumping under Shadour Watson. What's wrong with them? Did they not see the longest touchdown throw of week one? I tell you this like 12 million times. You know, the course of us knowing each other, I'll tell you this like 12 million times, you got to get off the internet. I know you wasn't the internet. I know you wasn't the internet. You got to get off the internet. The game was over like raised the banner. If you're, if you're only, that only exists in like my four you tab on Twitter, okay? The real dark web of Twitter. You only go, if you want to be a real sicko in life, that's where the Dishon Watson was great at quarterback on Sunday and that throw was the greatest thing they've ever seen. That's where that lives. I was like, what am I reading here? I mean, it was a nice throw. It was like, it is, it is partially funny to say. Is it not that that's probably Dishon Watson's best throw in a Browns uniform? It literally is the equivalent to the meme of Chris Paul hits a big three to cut the lead to 41. That's what it was. That's funny. I just, I'm trying to find a scenario where Shador would not be anymore in the catbird

seat and then also have fan approval as high as it could ever be. But we're not even debating. Is Shador ready? Can Shador even do this? That's not even part of our discussions. The discussion is, how do we get rid of Dishon Watson? How do you give me anything but Shador? Well, also then putting zero pressure on Shador to actually perform. Dude, that is like, couldn't have gone any better. No, and it's the sick part of this thing really that we're doing here because the Browns at some point in the season are going to buy themselves a bunch of goodwill with this fan base that they probably don't deserve when they finally make that decision. And I don't know when it's going to be. It's probably going to be after that stealer game if I had to guess. After Thursday night football, when you get that mini buy, there's maybe your first real window where you can make a quarterback change outside of injury. But like, for Shador, that could be, that's pretty soon. Like that's four weeks from now. Three weeks from now. Yeah, but I guess here, okay, so here's the only concern I would have. And the only problem with this, and again, I think we've laid out a lot of reasons for why week one was the best case scenario for Shador.

The only thing, and the only thing I don't have a defense against as of right now, is the people that then turn around, and I even, I heard this this morning, coward was talking about that idea that how bad is Shador if Dishon won this job? But I think that when you and I know the difference in this, and the pushback, you could give the pushback that you could give to those people is that, well, that hasn't mattered anyway, because it was a, it was a weighted competition from Jump Street, because one guy salary says $46 million, and the other guy salary says I was a fifth round. But me and you know that, and we've discussed this, and we've talked about this at nausea, but the national media hasn't. And the people that are, if you're trying to get into these, these flyover discussions, they're not thinking about it that way. The perception is as of right now, how bad we should door if he couldn't beat out Dishon Watson. Even if you and I know the finger was on the scale, even if I, you know, I know that this was a rig competition, and this wasn't obviously on the up and up 100%, and if it was a tie, then fine call to tie, but the tie then went to the veteran, and there's nothing should or could have done.

They're not going to look at it that way. And the easy response back would be something to the fact of, a should or should have made it unquestionable. Right. That he was the best quarterback to the point where Todd Munkin and everybody else had to realize it, and that is where it should or did fall short. He did. I mean, there's no other way to put it. You know, I defend should or I like should or there's no way to defend that tech. It's not, but at the same time, like I do really want, like, if should door goes out there and looks as bad as Dishon does. Okay. So that's two more quarterbacks to go. That isn't, what didn't you rather bet on the chance that there's an upside that it could possibly look better than what Dishon Watson has because that's a very low bar to clear. That's like the absolute lowest bar to clear is playing better quarterback than Dishon Watson. So what did you try to just figure that out if you could be on the right side of that coin? Because if it's, if it's just as bad or if it's somehow worse than Dishon Watson, you've got two more QBs you could go to before. No, no question. They obviously showed in the obviously will at some point go to should or Sanders.

I think we're all very committed to that. It just if we're trying to figure out how this week could have gone any better for should or I would argue the one blowback we have in this discussion is what I laid at your feet there. Like that idea that for enough people out there, the rhetoric will be, well, this is the second coaching staff that he wasn't able to convince. And this is now, if Dishon is this bad and this often, every reporter is coming out of the woodwork to tell us that they've been telling us this for 40 days and 40 nights when, you know, a lot of those same reporters were, I don't know, some were vocal, but some weren't. Like, okay, fine, but that doesn't look great for should or it just doesn't. No, it doesn't have to matter. It doesn't have to stay with them. Just go out there and win games and do your best and obviously show people that you were the right call from Jump Street and will change this narrative coming up in a few weeks. But I got no great defense against that. I just hate it. Like, my only defense against it is I hit all the preseason with structure, dude. Like because they gave Watts in the start, you know, preseason game number one with the starters, then Shadour got his opportunity in week number two. And there was no starters because Dishon got a bunch of the work with the starters and

the joint practices against Buffalo. And then week three, we all knew what it was. It was still in Gabriel and tailing Green show. So like, I want to be there with you and say that the one thing that I could poke a hole through with Shadour is that like, he didn't beat out Dishon. It wasn't night and day difference than Dishon. Like, if he couldn't even beat out that, it's like, I don't know that we ever got the chance to fully see it in its entirety though. Well, we had a lot of QB trackers and a lot of people that, that, that, that, that, that that was every day. All the camp stuff, you exactly. And listen, I was there. I mean, you were there, but we, Nick and I would go to these camps and we'd tell you every single day how Dishon looked unplayable and this and that. And then people would make, they get mad at us. Oh, you guys are just hating on Dishon. Uh, you know, all those flavors and you guys choose to be salty. I don't believe it. Well, what's up with you guys always talking about Dishon. That's because we were trying to tell you what you saw. I loved, I love this one. What are you guys going to do when he goes down there to Florida the first two weeks and comes back to Cleveland three? What, what are you guys going to do then? What's the conversation going to be then, huh? We had a bunch of that, we had a bunch of that Sunday and the one guy I had to cut off

and I had to, like, I mean, there's great little bit that I did. I was like, hold on, dude, like, there's, I got to stop you on the phone. I was like, there's pigs flying around outside of the studio right now and like, because that has a better chance happening than Dishon Watson starting this season three and oh, and we learned in real time that Dishon Watson was never going to start this season three and oh, because he is an unplayable quarterback. Two, one, six, four, seven, four, double, oh, 92, Jim and parma up next. What's up, Jim? Hey, I, uh, got a really silly question for you. Sure. What if on when the Browns come back to Cleveland and play the Panthers, Shedore kind of lights it up. Let's say he starts and he lights it up. Maybe not, maybe not lights it up, but plays good enough to win. There was a couple of touchdowns, you know, show some, show some real reliability back there behind the center. What happens to Monkins credibility then when all along, he has said that Dishon Watson

gives us the best chance to win. All right. Uh, I'll answer it. Thank you, Jim. I appreciate you. I honestly, the response from me is, yeah, you had it wrong, but at least you weren't stubborn about Dishon Watson and you moved on to Shedore. Sure. Especially if I get in week three, if I get in week three, I can't hold that. Week eight or week nine, I might have a different attitude. Okay. Week eight or week nine, I might have a different attitude. But if you in week three, Shedore goes off and then looks great and for the rest of the season, it's like a while. I listen, I won't blame Todd Monkin. I'll say, I'll say what I've been telling you guys for five, six months. He took the job with the idea that he had to play Dishon Watson. Why do you think he excelled in all these interviews, a guy that had never excelled in any coaching interview he's ever had for a head coaching job? It's because he told Andrew Berry and he told Jimmy Hasam what they wanted to hear. And it got him a five year deal worth $50 million, okay? There's, there's worse things that have been done in life to get five years and 50 million. I won't hold that against him. But if the end result is week three, we get Shedore and Monkin turned Shedore into, I don't know, a top 10 quarterback in the sport.

I'll just be thrilled he was able to do it. I just don't think we're going to get to see it that soon. And I think like, you know, you see this happen all the time, like in Bakers rookie year, you had a couple of Tyrod Taylor games where they were telling you Tyrod gave the Browns the best chance to win. And then you saw a Baker come in and the offense just looked different from that very first throw. Like there was just a new energy about the offense. So you see this happen from time and again with veteran quarterbacks, especially when they're in front of inexperienced guys on the depth chart, I just hope they make this decision before the season's actually sunk. Well, that's the way that they lose a lot of people is hanging onto this being stubborn with it and then waiting way too long. And then so then if Shedore, let's say it's eight or nine games and let's say he does, and listen, the expectation is not that he's going to be a top 10 quarterback, but let's just say if he does, well, then you have a real question. And part of this year was trying to figure out the answers to all these questions. And if you get to a spot where it's eight, nine games and he looks really good, but you're unsure about how good that is and how long lasting that is.

It's one of the worst cases you can find yourself in. It's like, do I draft a quarterback? Do I not? Did he show enough promise? And that in between is where organizations constantly fail. Another Ken, I think we've taken like 10 Ken calls. We do have a bit of breaking news just before we squeeze in Ken. If the Browns offensive woes aren't bad enough, it gets a little bit worse. Dylan Samson officially going on the injured reserve, Jaliyal McLaughlin, getting that call up. You mentioned being out there in the summer, dude, like I was expecting Dylan Samson to play a huge role for the Browns this season because Munkin featured him in a lot of those practices in space in like, you know, the short passing game, which is I thought I thought like what the Browns needed to do to make life easy on to Sean, like get that ball out of his hands quick. You're not going to be able to do that. At least over the next four weeks is Dylan Samson's head of the eye. All right. So that means I'm missing the next four games. And they'll be real value after that. That's also big news for the Rocket Sanders fan club. I saw that Rocket Sanders had the, I was going to share this with Nick today, other Nick, because he's like really the lone Rocket Sanders defender.

And I like that has ever really existed. I mean, it's like Rocket Sanders is mom, dad, and then Nick Wilson. But he got to over 21 miles per hour in his kick return. And that was one of the fastest in the entire NFL this last week. So like Rocket Sanders, if anybody didn't believe in him, Nick Wilson dead. 2647, Florida, below 92. All right. Now we'll get to Ken quickly. Hello, Ken. Hey, I actually go by pre snap 10 because while we heard for months, as it matters and watching now, now it doesn't. I like that pre snap. Ted and Florida. pre snap. They, hey, you know, this is interesting. First off, that Kim Justice interview with Hickman. He's on the verge of losing the whole damn team. I mean, that is proof right there. If you are a player, you man up right there back my quarterback. I'm in his corner. Silence speaks volume. He was afraid to say anything, Ken. Yeah. Yeah. And you know, the thing is, you know, I mean, I want to see Sanders in there. Obviously, and that's a big topic.

But the bigger topic is if he doesn't do this in a timely manner, he, he will lose the team. And the interesting thing with, with this whole Watson thing, one side is, you know, everybody's kind of made, you know, all these media people make an excuse. Well, he could, before the first game, well, he could play better. He's healthy for the first time. He's fully healthy. All everything's healed. All these, like they're, they're forgetting the past and all this potential could happen. But with Sanders, they're ignoring what he's done this year, how he's played well, the last exhibition game and everything. So, so there's not an equal shot here. And you know, Watson's baggage is insane, but they're forgiving all that, but they're not looking at the potential for Sanders. I can't appreciate you as always. Pre snap, Ken, checking in two days in a row for pre snap, Ken. I think it was Piss Jackson put pre snap on there. He just, he just called him regular Ken. I mean, it's a Ken. Come on. I know, pre snap. No, I think we got to give it to him because it is kind of a funny nickname. Dude, they were, remember cadence. He could also be cadence Ken because they were, they were making such a big deal about the,

the quarterback cadence Watson's up on Sanders in that department. It's like I've never heard that, but used as a system of measurement for quarterback competitions before the cadence for the latest and archmanning. What happens to Ohio State in the fall out there? Obviously it was a big weekend and not only the football world, but really Northeast Ohio is football is concerned. We'll start with college football. I don't know why you've been able to college football guy first, Joe. You do both just as good as anybody. But I think Joe daily only think college football first. So that's where we're starting. Ohio State, in my opinion, this loss isn't nearly the loss that I think people are

making out to be Ryan Day. Obviously wasn't great in that, but you can lose on the road to Texas and your seasons nowhere close to fall in a part. Do you agree? Well, I absolutely do it. And I know that it's a disappointing loss. And I think a lot of people could frame it as I am like that's bad to the bowl. The way they did, but you're still playing against a really good Texas team. I think of this Texas team. I imagine a world where they just collapse and they end up being a bad mark on Ohio State's resume. That Texas team showed that they played three-bag quarters. They locked them for the fourth quarter. They were able to storm back that they've got the quarterback that can lead them far. They've got the defense that can slow down Jeremiah Smith and Demaquin and Brandon Innis and take away the run game in the fourth quarter like the way that they did. It was just a really good matchup between two very, very good football teams. And as I stated before, I know we talked about this like two, three times, reading into the season. Having adversity like that allows for you to better understand how to respond to it. It's not an ugly loss to a bad team. It's a close neural loss to a really good football team that you could better

We need to play when that moment arises during the playoffs during the big 10 championship game during a national championship potentially. But I do really wonder an interesting question for me with this is, how does the FLAF committee potentially evaluate a theoretical three loss Ohio State team if that were to happen? I'm hoping that this is the year where if they have a good resume and there's three losses are to Texas and maybe they lose to an Indiana or another top team in the big 10, if that comes to fruition, is the committee going to be

smart enough to say the loss number doesn't mean anything. It matters who they lost to and those three losses were close gains. We're not going to knock them for it. They deserve to be in the playoffs mix. I think that a game like that should go in their favor. But Joe, I agree with you. But wouldn't that just be what the committee did last year to Texas? And being like, no, thank you. Three three losses. They don't care about Ohio State being one of those losses. I am well, the problem is last year with having a Texas is that they lost the Florida and the loss that they had Florida was, and this is the one thing that was always kind of removed, especially from SEC defenders and like a host Blake on refino Joe show was always getting to with me over this. As long as Ohio State doesn't have a random ugly loss to a nothing big 10 team, then they're not going to step into that same situation. Like, Oregon, I think, is now in danger of being in that situation where they could have real losses and then they could be trying to fight to make the case for themselves because that Oklahoma State game looks bad at the end of year. I don't think Oklahoma State is going to have that great of a record that that's going to come off as a great loss.

So as long as those three losses are against top ranked teams that are in the playoffs or in the playoffs fund, I think that the committee, it was both of them to put the Ohio State in if that situation arose. All right, Joe, as a college football guy that also does some NFL is Jonathan alluded to at the beginning of your call here. How do you assess what you saw from archmaning on Saturday? Sloppy first three quarters, but not in a manner where I thought that it was a bismill, but I think that in the actor's suit just a little off the timing was a little bit off. He's holding the ball a little too long, which is something that has plagued him in the past previously. The thing that blew me away and why I think that this is going to be a narrative building win for him, that nothing was really going the way that nothing was going in Texas is favor. They just bad turnover luck early on in the game, especially the one that popped up in the air. And he had every right like we saw last year happen to him, he'd every right to curl up and just give up any quarterback has the right to do

that just to think like, well, this isn't going our way. We just walk off the field and move on in next week. He stared down the barrel and he clawed back drive by drive multiple clutch throws on fourth down. I saw the evidence that I've been seeking from a draft evaluation standpoint for maybe a Heisman conversation standpoint of why he has been hyped up to be special as he is. There are many guys that are in the mix for first round picks in many years that do not have come back like that against top programs on their resumes for their case to be the first overall pick. I think that arch showed some real tact and the ability to respond through that adversity means something. And I don't think it's a hot take to say he leads the discussion for the first overall pick after the struggles that don't have more that. All right. So within that, he obviously had a post game. I really did. I mean, day after not even post game day after press conference that he made a, what I thought was a crash joke towards an AI video of Sark and Holly row.

And I just thought it was dumb. I don't know really any other way to put it. I just think, why would you say that is kind of the response I had, Joe? Do you feel like anyone in the football world will hold that against him or is this just going to be a learning moment for archmaning? Well, I think it's just the learning moment because I mean, I think the one thing for I was in a group, obviously, was like really stupid before I even saw the, the video I was like, oh, that's not going to like, I saw like a within 30 minutes of the, the interact, the comment being posted. I immediately knew that the response was going to be terrible because no matter how it might be interpreted that you were saying it was funny because it was just so absurd regardless. You can't say something like that. You can't make a comment about something like that being funny. You need to have the self awareness. I think it's just one of the few circumstances that actually out of his first try to let out his personality just came off really, really badly. I don't think the NFL, there are big guys that have had far worse things on in their backgrounds that have been in the mix for the first of all.

I don't think the NFL is going to knock him. So that's just a, a lapse in judgment on his part. And you know, he apologized pretty quickly. He apologized to Holly row. It seems like high row responded to it. And everybody's moving on, which is good. And sometimes when stories like this, sometimes people think they're, dig their feet in and not want to apologize or whatnot. And I wrote every reason to not take the high road. I think that we're kind of in a spot where we can move on. But certainly was was a bit disappointing from arch that he made the comment that he did. I want to ask you, Joe, about Jeremiah Smith. He has been really one of the biggest bright spots in all of college football. And honestly, the engine behind Ohio State's offense, I'd be really worried about the book. He's offensively if it wasn't for him. I like personally that he's planting a bit of a flag for himself in this Heisman conversation just because I've always felt like Ohio State doesn't really lean into their best players for Heisman campaigns. What do you make of his chance to potentially really contend for this Heisman as a receiver?

Well, I think that the interesting thing for him, meaning to win the Heisman, is he does need to separate himself from Julian saying. And I don't say that as a knock from Julian saying, but when you have a quarterback who's going to benefit from your production and successfully saying to the last year, you need to have moments where you're out by your quarterback. And I, again, not to like pull down sand. I think that we saw in this game that when Sam was targeting him and they were deliberate about getting him the football, Jeremiah Smith the football, they had a commanding lead and they felt unstoppable. And it felt like they were going to boat race Texas. And then when Texas made the right adjustments and Arthur Smith started being overly conservative, Julian Sandin looked as good. He was a little bit more tense. He just didn't feel like he had the same flow. He's been fine as other guys. I think that that is a strong step. And it's a bit weird of a dynamic to a value. It's kind of have to agree to again, staying for Jeremiah Smith to do in the award to a

degree. But I think that we kind of saw the separation of this is how Sam plays when he doesn't have his best guy and he's not able to hit him. If he can't connect with and it's a McQueen and other things can't work effectively without Jeremiah Smith stepping up to the plate. I think that a lot more people are going to favor and talk more highly of Jeremiah Smith after the way that he performs. And I think that he is just going to continue to have a really, really special season. Joe De Leon, A to C sports, Refino and Joe Show joining us here on the Wise Heart right. We make a right call Kyle right hotline. All right, let's get to the brownies. I would imagine you're not going to say nice things about to Sean Watson. But every time we say mean things about to Sean Watson, people accuse us of being over reactionary to week one and suggesting that it was a better game than maybe we should. Then maybe we're talking about it being what was your takeaway with to Sean Watson and his performance week one? Yeah, I've seen some people defending the Sean Watson, which has been admittedly kind of odd. It doesn't matter.

Like here's the thing is that we're actually like he grew for like 330 and had two picks because you were taking some chances. The offense looked terrible and he's supposed to be the one veteran leader on a team that still does a lot of young guys. He looked awful. I get that he had a couple of moments and you know the supporting cast isn't great. But I don't know. I don't know why anyone would want to defend his Sean Watson at any point this year. Part of me kind of just think so that with some of the issues and the headaches that they're having that maybe it is better just to let him go out there. When you're a team that's in the hunt for the first overall pick, I'm not implying focus on on tanking. But it kind of gets to the point where it's like what's the point of even putting should our standards out there like is it's a nurse and is going to do any better like you just better off letting the Sean Watson deal with all the you know the mess that's happening around him with this young offense trying to figure out what their identity is and what they're actually going to be in the future.

Let him take all the you know the brunt of the that difficulty instead of throwing the other quarterback some depth chart into the next. Hey, hey Joe. Another potentially like landmine thing that we just completely overlooked this offseason. It kind of feels like that miles Garrett guy and that other Jim Schwartz guy like those guys were actually pretty good at what they did. Yeah, I don't think that that is a no-brainer admit that that was critical losing miles Garrett and I think the Jim Schwartz part of this is probably the most underrated and I know that there were some some political parts to that of like him wanting to feel in like you could be maybe the next head coach of the team, but Jim Schwartz is a really good defensive coordinator and losing him. Trying to maintain that steam that you had over the past few years. I think there's going to be some some struggles and some woes. I think the miles Garrett was really elevating as the you know the adult and the leader in the room a lot with that defensive line.

I still think Jared verse can be very very good, but it's curable and on a bad team. I just only did Jared versus one of those defenders that. Bring everybody up around him. He's a guy that can be one of the best players on a loaded team with a lot of talent. But when you've got a lot of youth, it's hard to survive with somebody like Jared versus a little bit more above average than he is elite. How much is all this fall on Todd Munkin? I think that when you look that it'll prepare. I think a lot of it does fall on Todd Munkin and I think that the one bit that really sucks for him is that you watch LaFlora with the Cardinals put out a great performance against the chargers of all teams. So it's not like we're looking at going like well, is this first game? Yeah, it's this first game. You're going up against the team that made the playoffs last year. For the Cardinals with arguably less talent. I would argue significantly less talent because at least the the Browns had a lot of draft picks and invested in building on offense and on defense with some of the early draft picks that they had.

I feel like that makes Todd Munkin look really bad for just how disjointed and messy they were across the board. I think a lot of this is on Munkin and it's going to be a tough undertaking for him to write the ship and turn this around. Joe fantastic inside as always. We'll catch up with you next week. Thank you so much. Thanks guys. I could stuff right there Joe De Leon on the Wise Heart right. We make it right. Call Kyle right hotline. Check them out. A to C sports for Fino and Joe show. I want to react to what he had to say about arts manning and what that this is going to deter any Browns fans from wanting arch. You saw the video. You saw the reaction. If you haven't, we'll play it for you. 216-474 0092. It's afternoon drive right here in the fan. I've seen a few A.I. at it. Stuff but that's about it. I saw A.I. at it. It's our territory. I don't know. I don't know. I don't know. I don't see an alley. What's the road? How's it going? I don't know. Open the slapping hall. I don't know. That's rude. Yeah. That's hilarious. Hi that was arch manning.

That was not great. I was really no way to put it. I mean it's just he's young. He's immature. This is kind of something. I'm shocked. He said what he said. Yeah. Being honest about it. I think maybe Joe's take on it. Is the right one. He was trying to open up some of his personality. I would argue if that's your personality, maybe you need a new personality though. Maybe that's part of the major problem with this. It's not as if the Manning Family hasn't gotten in trouble in college before. Go check Peyton's history. Oh this was a rough one. This was a rough one to even try to defend your neck. I'm not going to. This is so like the video. I think what he was getting. He was trying to just open up with the media and have an inside thing with the media after a big win because this Sark Holly Row thing exploded Saturday night and then into the morning Sunday. If you haven't seen it by the way, it's Sark hitting reporter Holly Row and it's kind of like backhanded.

Backhanded. And she falls down and throws the microphone. It's so obviously AI generated. Yeah. It's so clearly fake. Even in a world where no, it seems like everyone is a hard time deciding what's real and what's not. This one is could not be more fake. But I'm like, I'm not trying to defend Arsch because like you just can't in that state. It's a defender. You can't say that it's a defense. You can't say that it's hilarious. But I almost see worries coming from because the video itself is so bizarre. And then if you're somebody in the if this is a bull take man, if you're someone I know that I like this take for you. But put yourself in Arches shoes. You're a 20-some-year-old early 20s kid. Yeah. Rolling TikTok after a big win. And you see an AI edited video of your coach back handing a sideline reporter and doing the horns up and running off the field. That's such a bizarre human experience to live. And somebody in your early 20s that just got a huge win on national TV. You go back to your place and I'm sure Arches living well.

And you finally get to decompress. And you open your phone. And you see something as bizarre as that. I think your reaction as somebody in your early 20s is this is bizarre. This is gonna get some cheap laughs in the group chat, which I'm sure it probably did. Like I'm sure it shouldn't get anywhere. I'm sure Arches Manning is probably not the only guy that takes a link. You guys know the kind of stuff that gets talked about in locker room. Like locker room talk. Yes, but this isn't funny. Like, wait, wait, there's no part of this is a therapy. He shouldn't have let it out of the locker room. It is where it went too far. Like this should have just probably been an inside joke of the long, if your logic is that's funny, your logic is flawed. This is a no problem. I don't think that if you find that funny, you have to do some deep searching into what you think is funny because that's not as stark hitting Holly Row. Even if it's AI generated, it's just not comical. There's something that's humorous about that. So you don't think like riddle me this. You don't think if somebody would be work for good, good, good, all of a sudden. What do you mean riddle me this? If somebody posted it.

I thought we're gonna get in by the way. Because of somebody post it. I don't go ahead. I don't know that I want to hear anymore. Somebody posted an AI generated video of Ken Carmen walking into the studio and backhand slapping Nick Wilson after a stupid shador tape. That's different. Everybody here would think that it was a little fun. You can see why that's different though, right? It was a good, it was a good adult man hitting another adult man. There is an obvious difference there between a adult man hitting any sort of female age. Sure. Especially a female in a male dominated field. We know that it's a female. We know, and we know especially how hard it is for women in media. You know, so that part of the story. I'm not saying that this is something that we should take lightly. I'm just trying to put myself in his shoes and he saw a bizarre video. He thought it was kind of funny. And he overshared it in a person. The kind of funny part is the problem in this though. If you're response to that video is it is kind of funny. You need to do some soul searching. You need to do some analyzing of what you think is funny.

It's not the word. It's not the right word. And I can call it bizarre. It's so bizarre though that it's a cause for it. That would have been, no, that's where you're missing me here. There's no part where it eventually becomes funny. I can understand what you're attempting to say in the bizarre world of it. And like, oh wow, how did we get to a spot where a video like that is even created? Correct. But that's what he should have said then. He should have said something like that was really bizarre. That was, I didn't love that. That was bizarre. And in fact, he couldn't even go on further. I'm going to like, the fact that you guys are asking me this is insane because I shouldn't have a comment on this. It is. That's such a, it's a ludicrous thing. He's saying it's hilarious. There's an obvious problem. It's a ludicrous thing that he was even asked about AI generated videos of his head coach and a sideline reporter. But that is genuinely the world that we're in. And it's bizarre. And he probably thought that it's bizarre to a level where there is a little bit of humor. He's got to do not only a lot of media training, but he's got to do some life training on the side here. If his response to this is, like he knows,

as a quarterback, he knows. And he's been asked a million questions throughout his life. And he understands the fact that he felt so comfortable saying it is what is the most shocking part of all this. Because if he's going to just say this is funny in front of everyone, then you're right in the sense that he probably thought it was funny behind closed doors. And he probably thought it was funny with his longhorn teammates. This is not, it's not funny. Well, he definitely knew part of this is funny. He definitely knew right away. Like is a guy hitting a woman? I just don't see how that's funny. But it's not. It's an AI generated. It's completely fake. It's a fake video. If Sark actually would have backhanded Holly Row and then Arch said that's hilarious, then we would have a real honest problem on our hands. But the fact that it is an AI generated video. And then this event did not actually train to be here. I'm trying to meet you here. I'm trying to meet you here. There's got to be, there's an age thing that's happening here. I'm 37 and you're younger than I am. But we both grew. I mean, we both have evolved with AI. There's something I'm missing. There's a detachment that you're able to make that I'm not able to.

And that's what I want to recognize within this conversation. There's a detachment that you can make that I'm not able to. When I see that video, I think it's revolting. I get, I get, I get, I get queasy seeing that video. I don't know what it means. I don't know what it means. It's funny. Like, Jack, you got it. Like, don't you open up your TikTok every now and again. And you just are greeted with some one of the most bizarre things you've ever seen. And you got a giggle a little bit of that because it's just like, how is this on my phone? I 100% see what you're saying. But there's arch have that much of a bird brain to what's arch is from your page. If you're in front of media, you just simply don't bring that or answer it. Like, how dumb is he? Seriously. What's arch is feeding? You know, what other, what other content is arch into that has took, talked, fed him a video. Katie is joined the room. Hello, Katie. Hello, I was in the back in the newsroom, but I thought maybe I'd just pipe in on this one. Yeah, yeah, yeah. As a female, it's just not funny. Like, I'm with UJP on this. I understand the disconnect of maybe an age gap, but it's not funny whether it's real or AI.

It would be funny if it would not be funny if he was hitting another male. It's just not funny at all. The ocean moves us. Whether that's surfing a wave or taking in an inspiring view. And especially, I think, is not funny because it's a sideline reporter, and that's, you

know, obviously something I do. So, yeah, it's just, there's no funny to you. I'm with you all the time. How about this for a take? Are you guys ready for this? Cause Jonathan opened it up. I don't know, I don't know. I don't know, I don't know. I don't know, I don't know. I don't know. I don't think I'm ready. I asked if it would deter Brown's fans from wanting him. How about this, guys? It makes me want him more. It makes me want him more because he took accountability. He did something that I haven't seen a Brown's quarterback do in many years where he came out right away today and nipped this thing in the bus. So, you're cradding the arsonist for putting out the fire is what you're doing. Okay. Is it really an arsonist? Like, what? I mean, that is what that is. We're making them, I don't know. In my opinion, it's a little bit of a mountain of molehill type thing. I don't blame Arch. He's a college kid. I mean, you just put him, put yourself in that. Like, I don't blame him for what he did. He's a college kid and he needs some life experience. But hopefully this gives him the life experience to know that it's not funny. And the exactly right. He's got to know, he's got to learn through this that this is not, this is not funny.

And he's got to reassess what he thinks is funny. If these initial reaction is hilarious, let me tell everybody how hilarious this is. And so like, this is, I get this. It's going to be a growing moment for him. And I hope he just does. I hope he grows from this. And ultimately, do I think it's going to hurt him in the NFL draft? No, I don't. I think Joe, I think Joe was dead on in that assessment, that idea. Do I think Brown's fans are going to care about it? Five months from now, you probably won't even remember that it happened. Right. Okay. And yeah, as far as the NFL draft is concerned, there are so many other players that have actually had problematic things and it not hurt them in the slightest. This isn't the one that's going to set him back. It just showed a complete lack of awareness and it showed a complete lack of understanding. And in maturity, in all the, I'll throw you in maturity for sure, just because the fact that he, he used the word funny and you guys are right, like the video itself is not funny. It's just a bizarre video and I'm kind of trying to defend him here just because I think he used the wrong word to describe it. I hope he didn't. I hope he didn't think that it was like actually good humor. If you had done what you had said and just called it bizarre and then just sat there and then like it's bizarre.

You guys are even asking me about it and deadpand it. I think a lot of people would have walked away and been like, wow, good, good hat on a shoulder. So you're right. That's a ridiculous question for us to ask and nobody should have been asking him that. It's not how it went down though. Today he did issue an apology, Holly Row issued an apology and I think we're all just going to sweep this under the rug and just kind of keep moving forward. But it's just a wild development and the archmaning. As we were watching him grow up, that's it. You know, the type of things like 15 years from now, if he's an NFL Hall of Famer, we'll be like, oh, yeah, but there was that that moment there and these little tiny moments that seem to pop up. It is what it is. All right, we come on back. John Fanta joining us at 420. Are we already recalibrating expectations for the season? Two, one, six, four, seven, four to below, ninety two happens next right here in the fan. It's the four clock out on afternoon drop. And so I was trying to join us in 20 minutes for his weekly hits. I got sent a photo yesterday, but I didn't know if it was from his Fanta in 60 or not.

I wasn't sure if this was something that he did on his show, but he was him with the paper bag over. I was like, so I was listening to you and Nick talk about him with the bag over his head. And I had to go find Fanta in 60. It was. He opened the show with the bag on his head. He's a showman. He opened the show with the bag on his head. I'll say that. And the rant when the bag came off the head delivered. So I am very much looking forward to talking to fans. Only problem I have with the Fanta in 60 is I almost feel like we're getting a sloppy seconds. And so I have to feel like John's going to bring new rants and new energy and new takes and new different. But ultimately, there's only one way to really dissect and find out what he thinks about Dishon Watson. And we'll get that in about 20 minutes or so because he's going to be he's going to be passionate. That's one thing. And then the cool thing about John that way is that sometimes it's the tiniest of things like myself, the tiniest of things that just sets us off. And so I'm hoping we tap into that. Would you ever wear, you ever do the bag thing or no? No. Um.

To degrading. I mean, I get like, I just personally would never do it because like I wouldn't just want to sit in a football game with the bag on my head the whole time. Like it would get old probably after a couple of minutes. Little uncomfortable. Sure. But for the people that do, like I do love the bit. Like I hope that people do the bag on the head bit from now until the end of the time. I think it's a hilarious bit that like you're too ashamed to be seen associated as a fan of a team. So you show up to the game with the bag on your head is a hilarious thing. All right. So like that is hilarious. Yeah. It's fun. So I don't know where you were with your preseason win totals. I don't know what your predictions were. I was at five. Exactly. Exactly where they were at last. All right. A whopping five. And so what I want to ask you and I'm trying to put out to people out there as well. We won six four seven four to below 92. Are we already recalibrating expectations for the season? Like after what you watched on Sunday and I was bad that it went and it's not just to Sean exclusive. And we're talking beyond that. The defense was absolutely atrocious. You don't get down 31 nothing without a lot of things going wrong.

But the defense was really bad. A lot of things that I don't even know how you begin to explain. The run game seems like it's not existence. And by the way, some of the advanced numbers on this when it comes to what the offensive line did was really positive for the offensive line. Right. Right. They tied for third and past block win rate. They were seventh and run block win rate. Yeah. Quinshaw and Jutkins had nothing going on the ground. And even with some of this receiver stuff and maybe this points to why you'd be positive eventually is conception was eighth Boston was 15th and fan it was seventh in NFL among a separation score minimum of 20 routes. Like they they were getting separated. They were getting open and dischanges wasn't able to see. Joteth it doesn't make for great radio because it's so obvious they got to get the quarterback off the field. That's what's going wrong here. It's so obvious and there's only so many different ways that we can say this. You had people calling into the post game show, you know, complaining about the offensive line and saying that I thought this offensive line was supposed to be fixed. I thought these problems were behind us. And I actually was like, wait, guys, like the offensive line I thought watching the game

was okay. The quarterback was holding onto the ball for 10 years and dancing into the sack. And Sean had five sacks, PFF credited him with all five of those sacks. They didn't give any put a single sack at any of the linemen because they couldn't because he was he was dancing right into them. So it's like it's like some of this I do think we can still have some of our preseason optimism if we want to. I think it is so easy. We just got to get this quarterback off the field. I think you can still be excited about this revamped offensive line. I think you can still be excited about these young receivers and some of these advanced metrics are proving that out. I think we got to get this quarterback off the field. Well, we definitely need to, but I don't think that's happening anytime soon. And so if it doesn't happen next week, we might be in for a few more weeks in this to Sean thing. Just get yourself prepared. Agreed. Because if he gets to play week three, they're probably playing a week four because it's short. It's a Thursday. And then that's where it gets Pittsburgh. Like, there's probably not a quick turnaround. And then that point, dude, like, yeah, I'm going to have to re-calibrate my expectations and my expectations were kind of on the negative end of this spectrum. I felt like people were kind of coming after me for saying five and saying, well, what

kind of pessimist is this? We did all of this work in the off season and you're predicting them to do exactly what they did last year. And even Darrell pushed back on me and said, look, they had games they should have won last year, but they couldn't because the offense was so bad. And would point to the fact that they were reinvested in this line. They got all these receivers. Harold Fanon and Quinchon are going to take a step forward. And it's like, yeah, that all sounded great. But with this joke or a quarterback, I just don't believe that it's going to happen. It seems impossible not to re-calibrate though. Now, like it does, it seems impossible not to look at this team. And I'm going to put it more on the defensive side of the ball than I am anything. I told everyone for seven months how bad to Sean Watson was going to be if he got a chance to play. And again, a lot of this might be changing if we get a quarterback change, and especially some of the positives that we pointed to, there's no world. And I was one of the higher people on Trevor Lawrence and what their three receivers can do. I talked all on and on about Parker Washington in the last five weeks of the season and what he was doing. I like Brian Thomas Jr. I like Jacobi Myers. Like I like Jacksonville's offense. I've always been higher on the prints that was promised in Trevor Lawrence than most

people. Okay. So there's an understanding baked into that that I believe in what the Jacksonville offense is to a degree. It's not Josh Allen. It's not. It's not one of those type of offenses, but to a degree, I believe in it. But this defense was way worse than I could have expected. And I was not high on this defense. I understood no gym shorts, no miles Garrett. You're going to take a step back. But Trevor Lawrence turned into the greatest quarterback we've ever seen. So this is what scares me the most. Yes. Trevor Lawrence turned into the quarterback that I last saw do this to a Brown's defense, which was Josh Allen in the joint practices against Buffalo at that practice facility. Everybody walked away in the Cleveland media. There was like a conversation is we were walking back into the facility and everybody was just marveling at Josh Allen and saying, once you have a guy like that man, you're off to the races. He just makes everything look so easy. That was the sentiment. Whereas maybe the fear should have been, hey, the football did not touch the ground over on that side of the field. And maybe that's more of an indictment on this Brown's defense than it is a good thing

and a positive thing for Josh Allen because Trevor Lawrence, it was a spitting image. Everything was there for him. It was so easy. There was back end communication breakdowns. We mentioned Ronnie Hickman being afraid to talk about, you know, Deshaun Watson and saying that that was above his pay grade. You also have Ronnie Hickman saying that he didn't understand why they were in zone as much and not in man where they found their success last year. So this whole thing, dude, it really does start to feel like it is starting to come unglued at the seams in our conversation with Joe daily own. Even from a national perspective, people are like, would you lose like that in week one? Some of it does have to go on the coaching. Well, I can't defend any of it. And yes, some of it does go on the coaching, obviously, but like NFL dot com today, they came out with their power rankings. Browns were 30 second. What do you guys want me to do with that? You know, like, and it seems it's warranted. I again, but listen to coward earlier today and they were going through about where everyone should be ranking. And there was just a off handed quick comment, something about like, well, and you know, Titans and the Browns are way down there.

And it's like, yeah, yeah, that's who you're grouped with. Now, I listened to a Titans post game caller that went viral yesterday. And in that, he was talking about how the all the miles of bleep in between teams, he's like, and there we are. There we are with the Browns down the very bottom like we can't escape any of this. And all these teams that we thought were going to be really bad jets one week one. Cardinals have a pulse. They won week one. They beat the chargers week one. All these really bad teams that we talked about. There was really four that we all grouped together. It was us. It was the dolphins who, by the way, showed a pulse as well. Cardinals and the jets. And there's us here. And then I got in there. And then like you've got an ownership group in Jimmy Haslum who just acts flabbergasted every time that someone would suggest that this is a poor product and that this is a losing product. He acts stunned. And the fact that everybody kind of did laugh at him for a week when he said that he would take the over on the five and a half total and say, look with this quarterback position. No, that's where you're wrong. After you lose, my old scarons. No, no, no, no, not enough people laughed at him that way. There was enough people that were sitting here and there's people I work with here at

the station that might be in this slot that was like, yeah, take the over easily. Like I of course. I think as bad as it looked on Sunday, I think it was shocking how not only unprepared the team was, were you talking about coaching, 11 penalties. Like Munkin said, he was going to get all these things fixed, all these things right. None of that was fixed. It was shocking how bad the defense looked. And if we want to get credit to some of these receivers for separation, I'm willing to do that. Talk about the offensive line and how good they looked all things considered. What I do know is that you didn't score a single point in the first half and what you have two first downs in the first half. Like like as many things I want to wax poetic about and talk about how good they were, they were just as many awful things. And like like, yeah, you got to recalibrate. It's a type of, it's a bone chilling type loss where it makes you question everything. Even if you weren't that high to begin with. Right. And I said six wins. I wasn't that high on this team to begin with, but it makes you really evaluate a lot of things. So I had a much five and I'm saying I'm re-evaluating things and I haven't even had the time to like, you know, put myself through this exercise. It's a scary exercise to go through.

Because if I'm at five and I'm re-evaluating, what am I going now to three? Two? Like that's a complete joke of a season. That's scary stuff, dude. If the defense is as bad as it looked on Sunday, that's what it will become because it won't even matter if the offense is even if you turn it around with your door and you get to an average offense, it won't matter if this is the defense that you have. There's not a soul out there that predicted Miles Garrett and Jim Schwartz would lead you to that matter of a defense that we saw on Sunday. Now the hope I guess we would have is that that was just a one off. Right. And that's a Jacksonville team that won 13 games last year and you look at some of their playmakers. You know, Parker Washington is good. You know, Brian Thomas Jr. is good. Like everyone's got to be rooting that Jacksonville is the 85 best. That's our copium right now. That's our really hope that Jacksonville is just awesome. All we have to do is to sit here and cope with the fact that maybe this Jaguar's team is just going to be the greatest show on turf and great audience. He's going to be a head coach next year and the next, you know, boy wonder of the league because that offense was humming.

The Browns defense was getting no push up front. I think that was probably of the concerning things that's up there with the concerns. Up top was Mike Rutenberg literally told me a couple days before the game that this was an attack centric defense. Yeah, the violence and all the stuff that he comes talking about. You guys were getting blown off the ball. Yeah. There was no, there was no attack. There was no violence to that defense. Carson Swessinger is chasing after people. I'm looking at the back of his jerk. Uh oh, I don't want to have a regression there. I don't know how I want to have a regression in my Carson Swessinger Mason Graham categories. I need these young players on this team to continue to progress. I can't have guys start to take steps back now because then when you start talking about a rebuild, okay, now I can't exit my rebuild with just my quarterback. If I'm going to need a linebacker and if I'm going to need an edge rusher and a corner, like I thought I was kind of starting to check some of these boxes, but not if these young players don't continue to progress. It is just one week, but, but you did see some things that were pretty concerning on

taking. Yeah, but I am trying to remind myself of that. It is just one week. I don't want to go crazy about any of this, but if the, if the burden of proof was on them to try to go ahead and fix this and show us that this is better than a five and a half win team, they failed in spades. Right. It's could not have been a disaster of start for a munkin. It could not have been a disaster of start for the defense. We've put a couple things. They're talked a couple things about the offense that was nice, but ultimately, yeah, I topped the bottom, just just know where I can't say it enough times, just just embarrassing and not good enough for a week one, Nick, like coming out of the gate, like this, I always find that fascinating, which coaches struggle week one and which ones really thrive. Andy Reed off of a buy his record is insane and also week one is record is insanely good. It's a reason why Harball with the Giants got off to a really nice start week one there. I think like certain coaches, they just, they understand how to prepare and understand to get these guys ready. I just don't know that munkin's one of them. This is extra disappointing too, because we really thought with munkin that he would get the most out of the young team. We heard so much about how bought in this team was munkin said, you know, the one thing

that didn't surprise him, but that he was so fired up about was about the guys that he had in that locker room. Like we really thought that we were on to something in terms of a new chapter with some of the young talent and maybe some of that still is in there and maybe some of that over the course of a 17 game season. We will be able to take some positives away, but dude, there are really minimal positives that you could take out of Sunday and Jacksonville. Yeah, no question about it. All right, uplifting, uplifting before Fanta here. It's going to be the theme for a little bit here until the Browns give us something to be positive about this is the best we can do. John Fanta going to join us next right here on the fan. Hi, back in here on the fan is afternoon drive. John at the pit on Nick Pidone today as we go on to the wise. All right, we make a right call Kyle right hotline. You can put it back in a phone line. So we'll just we'll just have to pretend that he's wearing the back right now. John Fanta as always joining us here because it's 420 Tuesday on the fan. Hello, John. Good afternoon, Salah.

All right. Now that sounded pretty chipper. I didn't I mean, you always sound chipper to start off these calls though, but the way the internet was describing in the way Fanta and 60 was describing it yesterday, people are under the assumption you've just had full on meltdown after meltdown after meltdown about these Browns. It's a terrible afternoon and I didn't mean any of that. It's a gloomy afternoon. It's a good sun ever come up, John. I don't know. Yeah, I don't know. We're maybe it's not Annie for us in Cleveland. It's arch. The Sun will come up for him, I suppose. Guys, you know, I was thinking about this. Obviously we've all had some time. It obviously hurts in a variety of ways. You know, like on the spectrum of openers, I went into Sunday with no expectations level. I fully expected to lose the game. That went worse than anybody could have predicted for a first year coach making his debut

and a roster with young, reportedly hungry talent that had upside the moment that to Sean Watson through that pick, the moment that he threw that interception, it just felt like the wind was sucked out of everything and everyone to a point that the Jacksonville fans, you know, I'm sure you've seen those videos of them saying, hey, put Shadur and put Shadur and they got bored with the game. It was just sad. It was sad in every way. They did not ruin my afternoon. I think I made it till about, I'm going to say one. The ocean delights us. Last season, the podcast Campus Files brought you stories of fraternity drug rings, stolen body parts, campus colts, and more. And now Campus Files is back for another season. There's a guy screaming into his phone. He's like, I just saw Charlie Kirk-Yassassnater right in front of me. Every week is a new episode and a new story. It's okay, I like it's almost like a university on a siege. Listen to and follow Campus Files, available now wherever you get your podcasts. 32, maybe 133, when I switched over to Red Zone full time and I kind of went to, I kept the brown sort on my phone. You know, at least they didn't go till 340 and then, but that would have at least, that would have meant that we had more to talk about. It was embarrassing and I'm still flabbergasted. Even by brown standards, this is worse than 0 and 16. It is because they're lying to us. They're lying to people's faces. It's one thing to be bad. It's another thing to not tell the truth.

Well, John, that's exactly where I wanted to take this and get your reaction from Berea yesterday where Todd Munkin said that he did see some good things on tape from to Sean Watson and that's why he's going to be the quarterback next weekend's amp. Yeah, he's a sacrificial land, Nick. He's a sacrificial land. He can't believe that. This guy's worked with Lamar Jackson. He knows what very good looks like. He knows what great looks like. He knows what MVP caliber football looks like. Todd, you're insulting yourself. You've made a lot of money, Todd Munkin, and you're going to make a lot of money in this job. But there's no way that he feels that way. No way. He didn't just learn how to view football, guys. I think the thing that I'm kind of perplexed by is, remember, he took the job and everyone's like, man, this is really refreshing from the guy who's now coaching the Falcons.

He says stuff and he speaks. I'm sorry. This is a different Todd Munkin than the guy that I was listening to throughout the spring time and the guy that laid out expectations and his football team better reflect that on Sunday. You put up a clunker. You know what? For the coach, I will give him a pass. I'll give the pass on game one. I don't know if you two are. I don't know if the town is. I get it if people begin the pass. You only get 17 of these. So I get it if you're not. I'll give the guy a pass for game one against the Jacksonville team that did win 13 games last year. You go to Tampa Bay and you do the exact same thing. I can't get any work. You do the exact same thing. Guess what? Your passes are out. Your passes are out. And I was called crazy here three or four weeks ago when I was on this show and I said this to me wreaks of a one year thing with munkin and people are giving me crap saying you're wrong to say that. Let me tell you something. If I'm him, okay.

I am I'm looking myself hard in the mirror right now and saying, do I really want to go down with the ship? Do I want to go down with the ship? Maybe he doesn't care. Guys and older guy, he doesn't need this job to be deemed successful coach in his career. He doesn't. I know it's one of 32, but he doesn't. And he wouldn't have been the head coach of any other football team. Not many people wanted this job. We're all watching why right now. There's a reason why John Harball had no interest. And that's the same reason why John Harball was a winner on Sunday night over Dallas. All right. So what exactly does the Sean have to do to lose the job? Because I maintain I think everyone I think everyone thinks that this is coming and he's just going to be out of the job. I think people thought he lost in week one. But John, I think people are looking at this a little wrong. You have to look at it through the Browns lens and the Browns lens is the idea that they're going to give them a long time, at least longer than two weeks. I think to try to see if any of it can come back because they believe in him in a way that we don't they for some reason, John, they don't they don't see what we see. They're like a flat earth.

The night you're in the blind. You can give as much evidence as you want and they just they don't care. They're they're they're going to ignore it. They're not going to pay attention to it. That's what they do here with the Sean. Yeah. I'd rather have Ray Charles run on the team. I mean, they're blind. They don't have a lens. So when you're saying that they were not seen it to the lens that they are looking at it through. They don't have a lens. That they that there is no lens. It's a clouded mind is what it is, guys, because you can't watch this and think that it's it's capable. It's not. This is a professional level football. I genuinely don't think that he would that he would be successful in the U.S.L. Like I'm I'm being serious. I don't think he could play. He can't play football anymore. Guys, when you're saying what is he up to to lose the job? And I suppose I suppose he'd have to be bad again. And then we'd have to double down in the press. But with that, with that, it would be enough though.

That's what I want to know from you. Is that even enough? Like how far are the Browns going to take this? When everyone says he shouldn't have started and then everyone after week one says, while he really can't play and he really shouldn't have started. What lengths are the Browns going to take before they look at this and say this is undeniable? Because they put their head in the sand the entire time with D'Shaun. That's the fear I have here, John. I'm being called crazy for saying this. And maybe you two will call me crazy too. But I'm telling you right now if he says bad and there's the same discourse. If I call League on miss you in a phone call, I'm on the end saying, Hey, guys, like, you know, we're not to get involved in competition. But one thing we are going to get involved is the safety of our League. I'm serious now. I'm not joking when I say this. I am concerned. I'm concerned if he says bad and they put him on the field for the home opener. Well, John, are you too concerned? Are you too concerned? Are you concerned about the safety, about the safety of the situation? Is that fair? John, I compared. John, I compared it to when LeBron returned to Cleveland as a member of the Miami Heat.

That's what the environment is going to be like for a home player. Do you think someone's going to physically assault the Sean? Is that what you think? I know I'm saying I wouldn't be surprised if there were thrown objects. And I wouldn't be surprised if it was an ugly day in Cleveland Sports history. I mean, I, and I, I'd be curious to know what your callers say. I think they would agree. I don't know how it's definitely going to be an ugly day in Cleveland Sports history. That, that is a guarantee. I, I don't know. I mean, the NFL is not going to play with the assumption that people want to throw things at to Sean Watts. And I can't imagine that. I don't want that, you know, for the record. Like I'm not rooting for that. Well, I'm not saying I want that. I don't want anyone to get, to get that. I'm just saying I am concerned. And I don't know. I mean, Nick, I, it sounds like JP's doubting me a little bit. Nick, are you seeing what I'm saying? I'm seeing what you're saying. Like, and Joe and JP's not because we talked about this a little bit before you called in just that we're seeing a couple of weeks in foresight that that home opener has the potential to being one of the bizarre moments in Cleveland Sports

history that we're talking about decades and decades from now. It's just not, this is, this is, it's, it's really sad that we're discussing this after one game in a season. But that is the reality situation. You're asking me what lengths guys, if he's as bad this week and they come out Monday and they say they're starting him, I really do think even the biggest munkin Barry has in defenders, even quote, unquote, friends of the organization. You know, I've been talking with some national people that cover the league. And you know, though, we'll be laughing back because they'll, they'll chuckle at my rants and stuff. And I went off on him yesterday and I said, you know, you, you should be ashamed. And they should be ashamed. So the project they put on the field on Sunday, they're getting paid millions of dollars and what they're doing is they're wasting people's time and energy. And, and you're running the risk of losing some people here. You know, and that that's the last thing. You know, losing me and I lose in you too. And I lose in a lot of your listener base.

But I don't blame a fan watching this team right now. I'm not going to see her and start blaming those people. They might still be watching. They might be saying one thing, meaning another. But to me, if, if, if he's as bad on Sunday, I don't know how he makes it through the game. Now when I, a non football coach, non player, okay, and watching this game on Sunday and I was questioning whether or not to Sean Watson would make it through the game. If he's as bad, it, hell, if it's not the fans, it's the players in that locker room. You've heard of the players already this week. You know, who said that's beyond my pay grade? Ron Hickman says that's beyond my pay grade. When that guy threw that interception, you watched the body language of that football team. And the body language of that football team said, they quit on this guy. You Todd. Yeah, John, I wish I could tell you that I thought the Browns cared about the fans

revolting or anything like that, but they, they haven't throughout this entire stretch. And so like that's the, again, the thing I go back on is you and I and Nick, we can talk all day about what we would do. We never would have played the guy to begin with. And we wouldn't have played him in week one and we wouldn't be playing him in week two. The Browns are beating to a different drum here. And so like the, I think here's what I was saying. Yeah. Here's what I'll say. Sorry to cut you off. I think, well, I think what will happen if he, if he's as bad son, they, and they start him. You are going to see a week to a national person who then states they simply don't believe in the rest of their room. And they are intentionally trying to tank for a great quarterback class. You're going to see it. There's going to be, they are, they are ignorant. And they are at times not very smart for many times. Not very smart. But I don't know how you could be so tone deaf to not start to do some damage control office. If he's as bad on Sunday as he was this past Sunday, I confidently believe one of two things will happen. Number one, it's his last start as a Cleveland Brown on Sunday.

And number two or number two, you're going to see some damage control PR from Shepter or from another national person that says this is exact, this is actually what the Browns are trying to do. All right, John, before we get you out of here, big, big night for the Gartos. They, they vomited over those shoes last night. It seems like in the most important times, they just aren't able to come for. I know you've been doing a lot. You got FANTAS and 60 on Mondays and you got a lot of NFL to take in. Uh, but this is a big game tonight, John. Do you do the guardians take care of this? Huge game. I don't know if they take care of business, you know, they, they, they, they've got to go up again. Uh, who they've had some success against the last time they saw him. He only lasted a minute and inning. That was that really weird start in which, you know, the white socks made a mistake on Mamba's and all that. Uh, but here's the thing, Foster Griffin, he's been okay. He's had a couple of starts where he's really been roughed up. You know, you're going to know, I, I think you're going to know early in this

one. I think you're going to know right out of the gates here because I'm a little fearful, the white socks, recollecting themselves last night and starting this game, you know, get after Griffin right, right off that first pitch. So I think it's very important. Uh, as you're all in that top half of the first inning because I think Chicago has resound something here over the last 72 hours. They won a thrilling game in St. Louis the other night when we're down to their last strike. And the guardians got to hit guys. I mean, it's simple stuff here, but it's going to be very hard for them to win this division. Uh, if Jose Ramirez doesn't get anything going, they're doing it right now with him banged up. I know he's hurt. I think we all know he's hurt, but he's got to do something for this ball club or else it could be very difficult for them. They have to win tonight. I mean, there's no other way around it. They've got to win this baseball game. You really say they got to win the next two, but if they fall behind a two and a half, we're down to, you know, 10 days left in the season here. It comes off very hard to be close to three games back.

And you've got just a little over a week to play in a day game tomorrow. You got to win this ball game tonight and you need your trade acquisition. When they got foster griffin, I called you up, fired up JP. Yeah. And he's got a he's got a validate that this is why you make trades. This is why you make trades go and get it. All right, John. Uh, of course, Fanton 60 NBC sports. Gay way is there a way to like rewatch the Fanton 60 if you missed it on Monday? Yeah. So, so it is archived first off where if you have peacock at home, you can go into peacock anytime and watch the show whenever you want. Every episode is archived there. It is on your podcast feed. So if you're listening on iTunes, Apple Spotify, it's on your podcast feed. And the link is on YouTube. It's on my ex, but it is always kind of on YouTube. We've got we had Kirk Herbstree and John. Jordan. John grew in thinks the branch to start tailing green. He said it on my show last night. He said that he actually thinks tail has a has a future. Like like like like like like like like next week. It should start tailing green or you mean like week 17. No, no, John grew in says tailing green should be starting now.

Did you try to when he said that or is he just really kind of let that one go? I'll tell you what man. Now he said he said he's better than should do our sand. All right. Well, I got to hear it now. Now I'm going to go back and watch. I got I got to hear it. And he followed up by saying, you know, he kind of corrected himself on the, that he would understand why they would why they would why they would start should or. But he was very high on tailing green spent the summer with them, spent time with him, spent time training with them, you know, like overseeing his training. I think they did some of their film rooms, some of the film room sessions that Groot has done in his career. He did with tailing green. I'm actually surprised. It's not been aggregated in Cleveland, Ohio yet, but it is that interview is out there. It's on YouTube with John Groot. And he thinks the Browns at some point are going to turn to tailing green. All right. We'll get to working on that getting an aggregated. Thank you, John. I appreciate you. Thanks, John. Thank you, guys. And I want the best for the Browns. I don't want an ugly scene. I think that's why there's passion in my voice. I hope that the stuff I spoke of does not happen, but I am worried about it. I'd be I'd be lying to you guys if I told you otherwise.

It's all we can ask from you. Thank you, John. Thanks, guys. John Fanta right there on the Ysar right. We make a right call Kyle right hotline right to what John had to say. And is the lion getting exhausting? That's what Fanta believes. Do you believe that as well? 216-474 to below 92. It's afternoon drive right here in the fan. That went worse than anybody could have predicted for a first year coach, making his debut and a roster with young, reportedly hungry talent ahead upside the moment that just John wants him to that pick. It just felt like the wind was sucked out of everything and everyone. It was just sad. It was saddened everywhere. It was embarrassing. And I'm still flabbergasted even by brown standards. This is worse than 0 and 16. It is because they're lying to us. They're lying to people spaces. One thing to be bad. It's another thing to not tell the truth. That was John Fanta. He joined us last segment. It is afternoon drive. Jonathan Pito and Nick Padone here with you guys.

And that last part there, Nick, I think is I think it's what hidden. It's what's hidden a lot of people now. It is not the first time they've lied to us though. I just like there is. I thought they lied to us all last year in regards to the quarterback. Race that they had or relatively didn't have the four man quarterback race. When one of the men in the competition was throwing to garbage bins at a point in the competition, they. I'm just I'm very desensitized. The idea that browns had coach stands up at the podium and lies to us and tells us things that aren't true or the browns act in the various ways or ways that make it seem like they're telling about you half truths. And I just I guess I'm just immune to it. I'm just saying I become accustomed to that being the norm. And so it doesn't bother me as much. No, I'm right there with you. It kind of goes back to something that we said earlier in the show and phantom almost touched on it too in his call. They have no lens for viewing things. They they have an eye and an affinity for the unpopular in every single situation they do. And that goes back to the decision to hire Todd Munkin because like common football

national perspective was Cleveland Browns are building this young team. They've got all of these draft picks. They're interviewing Grant Yiddinsky and Nate Schillhouse all of these young up and coming coordinators. That's what they're going to do. But they didn't. They did the unpopular thing and the unconventional thing and they took archman. They they took. Um, I said archmanning there. They they take Todd Munkin and you could like go into a time capsule and go back to the 2018 draft when we were debating quarterbacks and there were so many people that said just do the sensible thing. Take the big kid with a lot of upside draft Sam Darnelled or Josh Allen and let that be your quarterback. And they did the unconventional thing and they took Baker who was a little bit smaller and had some questions in terms of NFL viability and all of those guys found their way in the league. Sanstosh Rosen. Um, but they did the unpopular thing there like in every twist and turn, they'll do the uncommon thing. They'll lead you astray. They said Baker was the quarterback.

The same offseason they traded them. They said miles was going to Cleveland. They can't like they said they were never cutting O'Dell, you know up to the dad incident. Like they have so many things that you could point back to where they say one thing and then do the complete up. Yeah. Sometimes it just kind of feels like they're trying to piss off a lot of people and it's like that's not how I should feel about a team when you when you consistently make the uncommon choice your, uh, your preferred choice. It just kind of, I don't know. I, everyone I was like, Oh, it just feels like there's slap in the fans in the face. It's like, all right. So look at it. I just feel like they constantly take the road west traveled and this is like this isn't a hot take radio show. You're this is a football team. You don't have to be hip to it. You don't have to try to think outside of the box when it comes to some of this stuff. Sometimes you have a three foot putt make the three foot putt. Sometimes it's gimme. It's an obvious do that. Uh, there's no bonus points for getting cute in the NFL. There's no bonus points for doing the thing that nobody expects you or want you to do. And then watching it fail over and over again. Like just just take the easy thing that's given to you and they never do.

They never do. And I don't know that they ever will, you know, just because they've never shown an ability to just hit a layup like the Guardians right now are a fun example because they've had this roller coaster of a year. There are a lot of people that are down on them, even though they're getting ready to potentially make the playoffs right here. Even though it feels like a down year for the guards, you at least know they're not trying to piss you off. Right. They're making moves. They've made trades. They brought up. They brought up players like when years passed, I could have argued they're trying to piss me off. Sure. Things that they do this year's not one of those years. And like similarly to the calves, like the James Harden thing, you know, upsets a lot of people, but I think you can know. Those are all made in the name of winning. Right. You can understand you they're trying to win a championship. Maybe that's the problem. A lot of the Browns and results are obviously don't end up in wins, but they, they, they never seem like they're headed towards the idea of winning was at the front of this and winning is all the all encompassing why we're doing this. And I think that's where you want to talk about where it's like feels like slapping fans in the face right now, playing to Sean Watson doesn't feel like you're trying to win at

all. Playing to Sean Watson seems like a wasted week and a few tile exercise. They could have told us that though in the summer, they could have said this is a rebuild. Their teams do that. You don't have to come out and say the T word. You never would because there's a big ol' fine associated with that, but you could acknowledge that you're a rebuilding franchise that's going to start a quarterback who's now 31 years old because you're paying him $46 million. And then we could come into a season with realistic expectations where an export op of the show isn't predicting that the team is going to go 13 and four. You could have done it, but you also could have done it under the guise of we really, and again, to use his own words, we swung and missed the way that has them described it. You could have just, the, the runway they had if they really want to tear this thing down and do a rebuild. It was built based off of their own failures to begin with with the Sean Watson trade. And then refusing to pivot it off it again. Not only did you go back to them, but now there's this seeming undercurrent of belief that we're just stuck. We're stuck with watching this for how many weeks nobody knows. Nobody's willing to give an answer towards it. So but they're too smart to be this dumb and that's the problem I have in this conversation,

okay? I know they're too smart to be this dumb. There's highly leaked degrees on walls inside that building. Well and that's where it just always makes you wonder like what part of this are we missing that they're trying to see? Is it is the end game? They just know Dishon Watson is really bad and this is the way they can guarantee that they lose to get a quarterback number one overall. Is this if you want to tell me at the end of the season that was their big grand plan and it'll reveal itself is that okay, you could have done it with other quarterbacks by the way. And you could have done it with better messaging. You could have done it with better PR if that was your reality and you're a billionaire owner in Jimmy Haslum. Let's just play a game called you know what if if I was a billionaire and I'm paying somebody 46 million dollars. I'll acknowledge I would probably want to get a little bit of a return on that. You're going to go out there and work for that money. Here's the thing though, he's getting the money regardless. The money's hitting the account no matter what. All right. Hit the account of a sereneteed. So move off it. The money's paid. Go find literally anything else.

Jacobi Brasette they could have done that. They could have done Malik Willis. People now think the dolphins are tanking. I know. They didn't want to. They didn't want to and I want to know why they didn't want to. Everyone in that building stresses that they're not tanking. They're really trying to win and this is something that they're really focused on. Why didn't they want to? I just don't have a great answer for it. Well, because I think the answer is the uncomfortable and that maybe it is an unfortunate read. Maybe it is just a reality where they're not trying to and that is the biggest lie of all of this is they understand there are rebuilding franchise right now and maybe this is just a take. Well, and after winning eight games over the previous two years, you can understand why a fan base wouldn't take that news very kindly. You know, like they think about that. If they would have came out and said, we're winning two games this year. Like, no, I get it. They tried to maybe they were trying to sell a fight in this, but early returns on this has just been disastrous. Two one six four seven four that below 92 Kevin in Cleveland. What's up, Kevin? Hey, how you doing? Uh, this Kevin. Uh, you know, you know, this is becoming emotional.

This is becoming heartbreaking. Like all the years, we've grown up hearing this team in all some Cleveland, Warner Ray's and Cleveland is just becoming so emotional. We don't have a voice fans don't have a voice. Just deal the ongoing saga of every season, everywhere I go, I have to deal with. Oh, man. Oh, you got to clean with your own name, game, nothing. They ain't going to never be left in like football was made and created here in Ohio. Why can't we get it together? Why can't we get the name of the game of football that was created and developed here in Ohio, get it going where we are to top team in the NFL. Football is represented all over the world. Why can't we get it right here and clean the whole aisle? 30 minutes away is the whole thing. I'm just emotionally struck on every season, every year.

My friends, family is a big middle finger to the team that I love. I get it. Thank you, Kevin. I appreciate the call and the passion there. I mean, I get it. It's just it is. In many ways, it feels that way. And it just it feels like there's no way out, which is not how the NFL is supposed to work by the way. NFL is supposed to give you an out. You're supposed to be able to dig it. You put yourself in a hole and you can dig your way out of the hole and you'll be fine. This doesn't feel that way right now. It absolutely doesn't. And to Kevin's point there, he's writing it's the unfortunate part that Brown's fans have no voice and the Browns themselves need to set aside the belief that if you listen to the fans, you're going to sit with them. This is the most passionate fan base in pro sports. It's also the most tormented. So maybe it is time to listen to them a little bit because they've been through a lot and what you're putting them through right now is cruel and unusual. It really is. Add a push back a little bit. We'll get to Albert coming up at 540, which means we're going to play some sound from Albert ahead of time, okay? It's going to be like a pre-sound interrogation. I like it. And then we can really go to the interview being like, this is what we thought we were prepared because we just spent 15 minutes talking about it. But here's Albert on with Connor Orr and their podcast they do for sports illustrated, debating what's currently going on with the Browns and whether or not tanking as a foot. Here we go. Starting at the Browns seem to be doing now organizationally is setting themselves up for taking one of these quarterbacks in this next draft class. If they continue to play this way, I would fully support and I would perhaps expect players

to start saying I'm not going here and I'm just going to go back to school. I have the damage that you incur when you do this. Like these are human beings that have to play for this team. This isn't like a simulation, you know? But this isn't like, oh yeah, I'll just like strip the roster down and put this on computer mode for the rest of the year and then we'll get to 215 and we'll wind up with the quarterback we want. I don't think Todd Monkins is going to let that happen, but I personally think like the damage that you would do if a lot more weeks look like that looked like is going to be pretty serious. All right. So I'm interested to find out what Albert means when he says that and the extent of that, but what did your take away when you hear Albert go down that path? My takeaway is that I fear that he's right. Like, like that's what our fear has been in this anti-tanking stance is that at some point you do have to install a culture. At some point I want Mason Graham to believe I can win a Super Bowl with the Browse. Does Mason Graham believe that present day?

I don't know because I'm not in his head, but probably not. Does Quinchon think that? Does Casey Concepcion Denzel Boston? Like I do see pieces of this being fruitful down the road. I do see Denzel Boston catching touchdown passes in Brook Park or Casey Concepcion, you know, looking really fast in that new stadium. And I want all of that to work out. And I want the team to be really good really soon. It's just if you don't start winning and you do screw around with this to Sean thing, it's going to give these kids the poison ball. You know, it's going to give these kids the poison pill where they think that Cleveland is a spot where winning can't manifest. And they're going to be looking for the first ticket out of here. So there's kind of like two arguments at once that is happening here. Kind of or is making the suggestion that guys like Arch Manning won't want to come here. You're more making the argument. This goes to kind of what the Albert was saying in the second half, the idea that if you lose and if you lose consistently, then the people that are already on the team are going to say, well, what the hell are we doing? I think my saving grace with the arch thing is that has them relationship, which is crazy

to say that we're putting stock into. You know, we're putting stock into this organization landing a pretty big plane like that when the Manning family has set a precedent with Eli all be that two decades ago to kind of control where he lands via the NFL. It's just a different world than it used to be. I don't think they're going to do that. I don't know that they're going to do that or not. I don't think they are. I really don't think they are, but I also didn't think Dante Moore was going to go back to school to avoid the Jets last year. And so here we are. You know, like there's just more options that these kids have that these players have in college where they can come back, take money and then try to see if their luck is better next year when it comes to picking the team that they want to go to because I agreed that with the sentiment, we're not going to have another Eli Manning situation where you are actively picking what teams you want to go to. I think that era is done. The NFL is too powerful. These guys are too, they're just not going to happen, but you could do what Dante Moore did and just go back. Yeah. Our players going to start to do that and try to dictate where they go if they see the browns at number one and say, yeah, I don't think so. I think the hope we would have is that in a quarterback class that's supposed to be

five deep in the first round, there's just too many quarterbacks to run. And all of these quarterbacks don't have the opportunities first off to go back to college another time, but there's just too many that will end up with one. It might not be the preferred one, but we're always going to end up with one. I'm not as fearful as Connor or an Albert Breer are about the element of players aren't going to want to get drafted by the browns. For you, then it's more about the players that are here. It's about the players that are a cycle of losing that. I need them to think that this is a place where they can succeed because with the guys that are going to get drafted here, there's minimal control that you have. Your name is announced. You sign the contract for the most part now with how these contracts are collectively bargained. You know really what your contract looks like from the minute your name is read off the card at the draft. You know how much you're going to get paid. So I don't think there's going to be like hold out situations. And then you said, you know, the accurate point like don't say more already ran once. So it's like you can't really run from the NFL again.

Run forever. And at some point, you're just going to have to come out. And I think the brides have proven that they're not afraid to sit up top of that NFL draft year in and year out and wait for the right player that they're waiting for. And I think the player that they're waiting for is archmaning. And if he's not out next year, maybe they just wait until 2028. They we did this whole song and dance this time last year when we were saying, okay, if you're not going to give us a door for whatever reason, if we're screwing around with Flacco and Gabriel and pick it and guys that we know aren't going to be the franchise quarterback, you're going to have to draft somebody in 2026. And then everybody pulled out the rug underneath us and say, well, this draft class isn't any good either. Eventually, that has to stop. And you're going to have to sit there in the first round and draft a guy and be done with it. I always thought that it would just ended up being really poor timing for the Browns and Andrew Barry and what they were trying to set up. It got to be pretty unlucky because I do think they were going to take a quarterback last year if the quarterbacks had been there and the situation in a rose.

21647 Ford to below 92 Albert joining us again at 540, okay, Albert at 540. And one of the points, I was surprised to hear Albert make that in that clip. The idea that, hey, you just can't lose. You just can't lose that often and then expect to all of a sudden, if you'll flip the switch, there's been examples in the NFL where we've seen it. Dan Campbell started off his coaching career 4 and 19 with a lot of the guys that have played into pretty high profile games for the Lions over the past couple years. You can make an argument. There's, you know, winning is the cure all within all of this. And as long as you do eventually get to the point of winning, you'll be fine. I don't know the long term effects though. If you have eight wins in the previous two years and then this year, let's say you win three or four games, I don't know what the long term effect of that is. We just have no way of quantifying that. We have no way of truly isolating that out and saying this matters more than anything. I do know though, is that having the number one overall pick and having an archmaning or a Dante Moore, you're preferred quarterback, it's going to change this thing way quicker than I don't know a seven or eight win team.

Yeah. Or, you know, the fifth or eighth pick and then you wind up with a defensive player. You need that quarterback. And I think that this all does still set up like we're, we are getting caught up in some of the prisoner of the moment stuff because week one was so bad. But the point still stands. Well, we don't know Nick. We don't know if they're going to actually, if this is a tank job to begin with and we're just, we just have a playing with the wrong assumption from jumps. I'm saying when we get out of this, like, whatever happens over the next 17 weeks and we're finally out of this, I do feel like a rookie quarterback coming into this environment in a post to Sean Watson world could be set up for some success like they drafted a left tackle in the top 10. And Spencer for knows that the right one will find out and this year is going to be a part of finding that out. They drafted to, you know, blue chip wide receivers and what was considered to be, you know, a down year for the first round. So would Casey Concepcion have been a first round pick in 2027? I don't know. Probably not. But, but at the point stands, you got a lot of young talent. You did reinvest into this offensive line.

I do think if you get somebody like Archmaning with the number one pick next year, you're you're planning here. You're five year plan, if you will. You could still be on pace, even if this is upon here. Does that make sense? No, definitely. I think that's what they've been trying to do. They're trying to set everything up. So you can just kind of put a quarterback and slot him in and say, go have fun. This is going to be great. I thought the Saints did this with Ty or Shuck. Like, legitimately, that was their plan. Like, let's get everything situated, everything figured out and then we'll just, we'll just plop the quarterback in. It's going to fit in seamlessly. I was convinced that was their plan. But after the way week one went, it still might be their ideal scenario. But they're further away from that than even they realize. I just got to get Watson out of here so I could start to actually evaluate some of this young talent that they do have. I want to feel good about fanning and in Judkins and swastling during Graham and then it's higher rookie class this year before I made that quarter back call next year. I want to make sure these are dudes like we expected them to be.

That's a good point because after week one, everyone is just questioning as Judkins actually this good. Right. What is going on with him? And then you can talk about the separation that all these receivers had. Harold Fanon was on a milk carton all day. He was on the field, but he didn't get thrown to. Where was he? Is he going to be something that was just a flash in the pan last year or something you can, you know, solidify and stake your claim as a top tight end in the sport? And it's just after week one left us with more doubt than confirmation. And we need a little bit more confirmation. All right. For more on this and what exactly the Browns do with the Sean Watson as well. Albert Breer, MMQB.com. So join us next right here in the fan. All right. Back in the here on the fan, John at the Pino and Nick Padone with you guys. As we go out to the wise heart, right? We make a right call Kyle Wright hotline MMQB.com Albert Breer joining us here on the fan. Well, Albert, how you doing today? Hey, guys, what's up? Not much. Trying to obviously unpack everything with the Browns loss and just a devastating week one. Before we dive into that side of things, we were just last segment talking about this clip that we have with you and Connor Warren, your guys podcast discussing.

I almost thought it was like two different convos. It felt like Connor was discussing more of the idea whether or not one of these quarterbacks would just be like, thanks, but no thanks to the Browns and the draft. Well, I thought you were going more towards the idea of to tank to not tank and what losing can actually do to a team if you go down that road. Yeah. I mean, I hate to be like, B, I don't write the headlines guy, but this is sort of like that like a podcast form. You know, I mean, it's like it's a piece of what I said, you know, and we were just kind of talking about the whole, like big picture idea of losing to get a quarterback. And you know, the point I was making is that the damage that can do, and I don't think the Browns are doing this to be clear, but the damage that can do to a franchise goes well beyond like whether or not you have the right quarterback or not. Like it's, but you guys made young players in the locker room and guys that you want to build on to the last two draft classes, you know, like that are going to be part of

that environment. I mean, putting them in some sort of death march to the number one pick, I just, I don't think that that's, I do that winds up being really counterproductive. Now, like that's different than like roster management at the end of the year, you know, like creatively might managing your roster so you are positioned to get a better pick. Or you know, like get the trade deadline, okay, like we're out of it, so we're going to do some things creatively that'll help us long-term. And if that position just takes quarterbacks, so be it like those are different, right? I mean, the idea that like, all right, like it's over in week one and you know, like saddle up, like let's go get dodged a more archmaning or drew a mess to make or whoever it is. It's just, I think the damage that I can do to a long-term is something a lot of people ignore, but these are human beings in there. And, you know, I don't think it's something that Todd Mongin would be a part of anyway, but, you know, I think it's a discussion point because you see it in other sports when

in football, it's just not a, I would say it's not a functional thing to do. But it's sort of related to this sort of not. There is this fear that's growing amongst Brown's fans that maybe the Manning Family would do to the Browns, what the Manning Family did years ago with Eli Manning and tell the Browns, hey, thanks, but no thanks in the NFL draft. What would be your message to Browns fans who already after one week have that fear that maybe Manning wouldn't even sign up to come here? Or what they did to the Jets. I can do that in 1997. That's like, there's Browns fans fearing that they'll take that same playbook and apply it to Arch until the Browns, thanks, but no thanks. Yeah, well, I think, first of all, like you put the car away ahead of the horse, right? Like, I don't know what the Arch Manning is seeing that. Now, he might get there. And I think what he did at Saturday night showed a toughness at what it is in the playmaking

ability. What's this in here, like, you know, in the middle of September, say he's going to be the number one pick of the draft. I don't think like, I don't think he's there yet. Again, he's got like, he's got four months to get there. But, you know, I think it's possible that there's one quarter back above the rest when you get there. It's also possible there are three or four. And if you remember, like the other end of that situation 2004 with Eli, like the charger is still wound up with still a purpose, you know? So I don't know. I mean, I think it's a fatalistic way of looking at it. And you're circling one quarter back in one family when I think are trying to out again. I've got a ton of experience. I have a great success at it. I promise you that. But I would say he's been like a pool of guys now that have the potential to ascend into that level of draft pick. But I mean, I'd say don't need more probably the closest one to being a sure thing of being

there. We'll get to April. And, you know, I think it goes well beyond those two as far as guys have a shot to play the play the way it's there. Play the way there. Albert, something that's kind of in a lobbed our direction is that we just we we over we overanalyzed and did a little bit too much in throwing down to Sean Watson for his week one performance. And it was just in fact just week one and we need to be less critical of them. What was your read on how he played week one and the level of criticism that was attached to his week one performance? Yes, I look back and I watched the first half. You know, I don't know. I mean, I think my memory of it was like a little worse than like what I went back and I looked at it. It was server Lawrence played really well. The defense didn't play well. The shot in a bad interceptor being in the game. And then the pump went. I think it was the concept seal and the pump did it right. Yeah. And then the game had gotten away from them. So I don't think the shot played well.

I'm not going to sit here and tell you that. But, you know, I also think that game got away from the ground so freaking. The ocean moves us. Again, I'm not defending the performance. I don't think anybody in the Browns played particularly well. But if you're looking at it, you're going to make a sweeping judgment on the Sean Watson based on AI, I don't know that you have enough information for that right now. On the other side of the ball, how concerned should we be about life for this defense in life after Jim Schwartz and Miles Garrett? Well, I mean, you have, you know, I remember you have first year coordinator, so that's a factor. Jared versus not Miles Garrett. Jared versus a really good player, but he's not Miles Garrett. So, you know, that's a piece of the two. That changes the dynamic of everything you do defensively. And I think that there's going to be the obvious growing pains with so much change over the

course that obviously. So, the last few years and Schwartz is one of the best defensive coordinators of this generation. It's just one of those things where I would, you know, if you're hoping that the defense really comes around and starts playing really well, it's going to be because, again, Carson Swatzen, you're taking the other step. Mason Graham becomes, you know, really dominant player in size who's worthy of being the fifth overall pick. Jared versus plays like Jared versus and it's just, you know, like so. Again, it's kind of one of those things where I was given a week or two before I started being sweeping judgments. And I think it's about most things. I think we want to kind of allire to begin with. Yeah, and I think that's kind of what a lot of Browns fans are maybe hanging on to. It's like a week one tends to be just a lie across the board, but it was disheartening when he a monk in spends months telling us about it's going to get everything right and he's got 11 penalties and we have to lay a game penalties and all these things.

It just, it could not have gone worse, Albert. Well, that stuff is like that stuff is obviously not as easy as one. There was that one sequence. Now I want to say, and again, because I'm covering all 16 games, like stuff is clouded, but there was that sequence at the end of the half when I wound up in like 30 or whatever. Preston 30, yeah, and that was all that person 30 per piece. Yeah, first and 30. So like that stuff is not great. And that's not a great. That is obviously having the coach of themselves and telling you that it falls on them to have those guys ready to play and discipline. And it's week one. You should have that stuff up. So I certainly did this there. Albert, do you think the Browns are at a spot where they regret how things went with Baker? I know that's such a zoomed out question, but since we're getting ready to play Tampa here in week two, and he just got yet another new deal with the Buckeneers while we're still belly aching over this Dishon Watson thing.

Like it sure seems like it would have been easier to just keep that guy around in 2022. Yeah, you'd have three more first round back still. That'd be nice, right? Yeah, I don't think like I don't think that I don't think they sit around when that's again, but I think it would be cool. I should think that they don't think of what might have been, you know, and they don't think of we had a really talented core. There was a group that, and that was 20 three, I believe, right? Three years or two, and they won 11 games with a handful of different quarterbacks and Joe Flackle comes in at the end and saves them. And so you sort of think about what they could have became in Tampa and being a successor for Brady. It was like, well, maybe that's the sense you would have happened. I think Baker himself would tell you that he kind of said it, instead of being knocked off his eye or swell. And there was some good that came of him having to go into a situation of Carolina that wasn't great and finding out that, you know, like he had work to do too.

And then, you know, like, and then he has like that short little one with the Rams, where he gets with Liam Cohen and then he winds up with Liam Cohen in Tampa. And like all of that, like the way that all came together, I think really helped make Baker who has become now. So, like, is there someone that over not having that stability of quarterback, maybe not having given him the money, maybe not having had those third round days? I'm sure there's a little bit of that, but I'm also not sure that Baker would have become what he is now. If he hadn't gone through everything that he went through on the inter-own, the other day I would just, you know, I think it's just sort of an interesting piece of all this. Like, I don't think it's absolutely what they did with the worst thing in the world either. And like, I think this way, like, at the time, you were looking at Josh Allen, Lamar Jackson, Patrick Maholmes, and Joe Burrow and the AFC.

And like, those guys have, like before last year when Graham got hurt, those guys had it counted for like every AFC championship in a pan for five years. So, like, the idea of going and getting somebody to put you over the top and like, get you into that club with the term that I used back then, like, I think at least I'm paper to fix and set the execution of the player that acquired as well being a rock. Well, it's funny about that that you mentioned all four of those quarterbacks is it feels like those are the four that really shined in week one and really had exceptional week ones for themselves. We talk about rebounding. Josh Allen doesn't have to rebound as much. Lamar has some things he's got to overcome still in the post season. I guess you could follow that with Josh Allen as well. But out of the four, we're talking the big four between Lamar, Josh Allen, Joe Burrow, and then Maholmes, who did impress you the most in week one. I think Maholmes. So Maholmes is still working his way back and I think what was so impressive about the chiefs was what the one game looked like even without Josh, him is in there.

And I just I don't know about you. I love Kenneth Locker running style. I really hope he stays healthy. He is so fun to watch, you know, and like he's such a great big game player and it like felt like you're out to say so I think he's really going to help Maholmes. I think Maholmes can be fine. I'm the four in week one. I would probably lean more over Josh Allen. Lamar, I thought Lamar was like that. And it's like really looks like that one Doyle is going to be, I mean, not there for very long, I guess. Yeah. Because I like holy crap. It it looked good. Like it looked like the timing of it, the rhythm of it, the detail of it. And like they get all of it while maintaining with the Ravens Identity has always been. So like I was really impressed with that. So I give myself a day. And I think Josh Allen, I can't wait to see what he looks like in the lines of Thursday because I just think.

I think there's an aggression that they played with that they've been planning to play with that for better or worse, like in some of the dormitories, great job there. But I think there's sort of a new aggression with Joe Brady as a coach, where it's kind of like this attack, attack, attacking. Well, I thought that Josh about over some of the product like 2019 LSU, you know, just Joe Brady was there for that. I either the bill has had a chance. I mean, 36 points, which was the most by any team against a Houston defense, this Christmas Eve in 2023. And over 400 yards, that was the first, the first time since Christmas of 2024. Like being able to go into that building and do that to the Houston defense. I think I think like Buffalo has a chance to be really, really going on that side of the wall. Yeah, no question about it. Albert, we appreciate the inset is always a fantastic job. We'll catch up with you next week. All right, thank you so much. Albert Brear right there on the Wise Heart right. We make it right called Kyle right hotline. Well, we had to what Albert had to say.

We got to get to a guardos discussion later on in the six o'clock hour as well. It's afternoon drive right here on the fence. It's the six o'clock hour on afternoon drive. I don't think the shot play well. I'm not going to sit here and tell you that, but you know, I also think that games got away from the rounds so freaking quickly that like I don't know that you do like a stirr of valuation of where he is. Right now. And again, like I'm not I'm not depending the performance. But I don't think anybody in the Brown play particularly well, but but I think, you know, if you're looking at it, you're making a sweeping judgment on the sun, watching based on that. I just I don't know that you have enough information for that right now. Albert Brear, MMQB.com. I want to play that. And I'm going to play some Pete Prisco audio that goes with that as well. But that was Albert just joining us about, I don't know, 15 minutes ago. And part of the reason why I want to play that is Nick Nick Padone for Nick Wilson today is the idea that this is going to become the theme. So I guess Matt as you are as a Browns fan right now is Matt as you are and thinking about what happened on Sunday and as Matt as you are and thinking about how bad to Sean Watson was and he was. I'm telling you what Albert just said is going to become the theme. They're going to sweep this under the rug. They're going to act as if the defense never gave a dishawn a chance. And the game never had a real chance to materialize and all of it is unfair and unjust and you got to sweep it under the rug. It was bad. They'll say it was bad. They would admit it was bad.

But they're going to start to blame other things Nick and then that's going to be how this extends out for Dishon Watson. This is how this is how the story continues. Yeah, they've got a note card right now of all of the excuses they can use at their disposal. And this week they decided to use the fact that it's just one week. He's been off for 22 months. It's almost 700 days since that last start. That's the bullet that they're playing this week. They're playing the hits here really with this whole Dishon Watson thing. You're exactly right, Jonathan. Say the defense. The defense puts up another bad showing say Baker riddles up on Sunday in Tampa. That'll be the script for next week. Well, what do you expect Dishon to do with this defense that can't slow down? Baker may feel a little fun, but three times again, Cincinnati and the Bangles defense was able to keep that they've got a note card full of excuses ready to go for Dishon Watson. But at some point, you're going to read every excuse that you possibly can off that note card and there are going to be no bullets left. So the funny thing about it is we're already calling BS on all of it. It's just this is the song and dance. We're calling it out. We're predicting it.

And we're predicting their excuses before they even happen. But this is the song and dance. This is how this works. This is how this operates. And this is not the Browns, by the way, this, this right here, some of it is the Browns. Obviously what we're discussing. But like I said, I mean, Albert is a weekly guest for a reason. He's very, very plugged in and his understanding on it was pretty simple. He said week one is a lie. And then he gave you all the reasons for why he thinks to Sean Watson really didn't get a fair crack at it in that game while admitting he wasn't good, but understanding that like you just don't judge people off of one week. And this is, again, as Adam and as I am that I think to Sean Watson stinks and I don't love any of this process. I've just tried to read this through how they're going to read it and how they're going to read it as Albert read it. They're going to give him every benefit of the doubt. And they're not going to be as quick to be like one week. You're done. We're going to throw you away. Like as much as we want that. That's not how the Browns are going to treat it. It was so funny because like his argument is if you if you zoom out Albert's argument was sound when when he said the game got away from him fast. That's true. The game did get away from him fast. You didn't get to the first two.

You're down 14 nothing in the book. That's that's the pushback though. Why'd the game get out of hand fast because the quarterback is unplayable because the interception because he threw an interception when the team was driving and then the next drive he almost threw another one. And here's what I would argue in this as well is the idea that yeah, you can nail in the coffin a game in the first quarter. Sure. I guess in theory because we saw it to Sean just do it. But other good quarterbacks. Barry out of that. Tyler Schuck. I don't even know if Schuck's a good quarterback or not. But what do you do? First thing better than our guy. Wait, how many interceptions he threw in the first half of that game against Detroit? And then what do you have? Did you have Detroit holding on by just fingernails? It barely able to escape with that win. And it was it was like a I mean that that was a battle back game. That was that's what you can do in those moments. You can rewrite a bad first quarter to Sean obviously never did that. Even if you lose the game, even if they would have lost in Jacksonville, we were from John Fitch some fight. It was everybody knew they were going to lose in Jacksonville. There were obviously.

Everybody predicting the Browns to win. I did. I mean, I'm not to win. I put them to lose you put it to the blue. He's been on everyone. I predicted them to cover. I thought it was going to be a little bit more of a competition. I thought I was going to be entertained for a couple of hours. It was Ken. It was Nick. It was actually Bastock. It was Coach Riz. I can tell you the names. Yeah. I do wonder though. Like I can't hold that against them because I like. You want to pick the Browns win. So I can't hold that against them for for you know saying that they you know pick the Browns to win like that. No, nobody ever does. It's been my main point when Nick the entire time you get to you get to be as much of a home or as you want in any of this. And there's never any anything held to you in that way. Yeah. No, just it's just not. There's no light. Like you picked the like you can pick the Browns to win every week. And I wouldn't really have an issue with that because I want to see the Browns win every week. I'm realistic and I know that most weeks I'm not going to win. As a noted truth tellers what I ascribe myself to being I'm just I just shoot it straight. I'm sure it's honest. It is what it is. Notice you can you can just make any prediction. You want to the positive.

There's never any blowback for them. It's the negative ones. That's where you get the blowback. I want it to be positive. I sit down every week. I don't really care. I just call it. I don't see it. I don't I don't search for positive. I don't search for negative either. I just I let it come to me Nick. That's how this works. I let it I let it come to me and I tell you how I feel in the moment. I don't have to search out for any positive. I don't have to search out for any negative. It will present itself. It will it will. Right. Obviously display and the the emotion will win out that needs to win out. This last weekend. It's funny because this last weekend I think a lot of people expected myself to be, you know, extremely mad about the whole thing and how it went down and I I have no rant to give just because it's how it went exactly how I expected. I know you're right there with me like from a offensive standpoint. I guess if if there was one thing I was surprised by even a little bit. The defense was a great defense. I knew there was going to be regrett it. Obviously the only part I was really mad about is how it became such a non factor of a game as quick as it does. Yeah. That was the part that when I looked back on it yesterday when I was yelling about things.

That's what I was yelling about was the idea that it was in the first quarter. Fanta today told us he tuned out at one thirty nine. Yeah. One thirty nine. He went to the red zone. He said that he said at some point between one thirty and two. He went to red zone. So he was still in the first half. One thirty nine. I got home at one thirty nine from doing the pregame show. Yeah. Yeah. He was still in the first half and he flipped to red zone. You're already gone. He's got to get a multi TV setup. That's Fanta's big problem that we learned here. He's got to get a multi TV setup. He can't be he can't be John Fanta on NBC. Well, I only got one TV to flip through through. Oh, now I guess you have to go to the red zone. He's any of the browns on the phone. He's any put the browns on the browns got to motor to phone. We got a caveman logic is that I come on. It's for your job. You're going to four to second TV. I understand the nine to five guy right now that's like I can't get that done. I just I the wife's never going to let me have that. Yeah. That's the brutal thing. It's not going to be reality for me. It's the significant others because like TVs now aren't that expensive. Like like back in the like I say back in the day like you know,

even five or 10 years ago to get a nice big flat screen TV is expensive. Now you could get one for a couple hundred bucks. Yeah, but you got to set the tone early on. It's all it's all about how you married and when you married into the person that you married. Okay. That that for me, my wife knew this is what I do. This is how much I care about this. And this is the setup. I from day one from Jump Street. She knew me as a multi TV human. But my body is never going to change. My body is kind of that same way. And he's always been the same way where he brings out the multi TVs. He's always been. There's no way. We're bringing out the multi TV. It exists in my household. No, so he's in so now as long as I've known my wife, she's come over to my apartment at the time. And then obviously we've been doing this a while. So it graduates to be in a house and everything else. Always been a two TV set up. So they're married now. And he's got to bring out the two TV setup. Yes, it's not as a Nate two TV set up. He's got a boss. He wants control. He adds on TV. And she gets miffed as the TV start to get added to the equation that there are more TVs. I think he's got like three or four now.

Like it's now it's become a personal thing where he's trying to prove you. We would out like you're the lunch lady. Like what are you doing? You're like the old school. Like you pretty much got it on a cart. And it's a trap to the cart. Absolutely embarrassing. Yeah, it's all about you got to set the tone early on. This is it. You just got it. You got to let it be known. I'm not saying you win every argument. I'm not saying you win every discussion. You got to pick your battles. If you're if you're the person you're dating knows going into the relationship. I care about this at a level that's unhealthy. They'll let you do it. It's the ones that you give a little break into. That's when you lose things forever. I have just a style of life works. All right, 2647. Fortebelone 92. Pete Prisco on CBS had this to say about. And this falls right in line with Albert in kind of wiping away a bad to Sean Watson week one. I don't think they believe in the other quarterback either. So it doesn't matter who they put in. They're not going to believe in either one of them. They know that their quarterback for the future is coming next year in the draft. He's not on that roster right now. But again, the Sean Watson was not good, but the team was awful. And I think when you look at it, he had five guys on the offensive lines starting in new spots.

And two of them were rookies. And one of them was a college tackle who played garden. By the way, he was the best offensive lineman on their team that day, Austin Barber from Florida. So I think it was going to be tough sledding no matter what happened. And they got dominated. But to put it all on Watson, was he good? No. But to put it all on him, you can't do that. It's now the theme. I'm telling you Albert, Pete Prisco, the national media has already caught wind of this. And this is what they're going with whether you believe it, whether I believe it, whether anyone listening out there believes it. This is now the theme for week one for the Sean Watson. Lot of excuses. That's what these are to me, but, but, but they have no bones. Like all of this is just words to me with no real meaning because I know that they're not going to be able to get away with this. But you want to find out how they want to do. They're not going to find out how they have to Sean Watson starting week three at home. This is how I'm telling you right here. Well, I agree with that. I think he's going to count week one as a lie and a mo again and they're going to wipe that away. We'll see what happens against Baker. But if it looks anything in the in the slightly upward trajectory, then he's going to be starting week three.

I'm with you. I think he starts week three. I think he starts week four. They're going to play. There is a real chance, Jonathan, that they'll play him at home in their own stadium off the heels of whatever might happen in week three in a national TV game on a short week. That actually might have the Thursday night game. Yeah. Yeah. Against the Steelers. Steelers, I thought they looked awful against the Falcons. TJ, while TJ Watt had a pretty good game, obviously. He did a lot of damage. But I thought the Steelers looked at that. I thought they looked awful. You can beat the Steelers. I'm not predicting it. I predicted oh and four to start the season already. You can beat the Steelers. Two on six four seven four to blown. I need to not want to show on watch it starting. But with somebody else, you could beat the Steelers. All right. We'll continue on here. We'll get to your phone calls. Why do you guys hang in hang tight? We're at just a moment. You guys want to get into and then also is tonight a must win for the Gartos. We continue on. It's afternoon drive right here in the fan. I'm having a lot of fun talking about getting boozed up.

While understanding this is the least amount of alcohol I've had in the years since I was 15. Is an interesting combo that was just had their during the break. Well, at any time, I like to ask Jackson about these things because he's young and and he's still he's in the alcohol game. And so he's always got like these fun new alcohols and these like he tells me what's going on in that world. And I'm making it seem like Jackson's alcohol because the farthest thing from it. But but it's at least it's fun. And then I'm like I get to learn about all of them. Meanwhile, I just I just do no drinking at this point. There's no no. No, it's coming. It's coming. No, it's coming. Because you've also been talking to on the station so much about like, you know, like not so much, but just a little bit. I've heard you mentioned like the weight loss and you look good. Like I think that probably plays a role in it. Probably plays a little small role in it. Wait, he's don't save it all for once. No, no, keep it coming. Keep it coming. Tell me more about my weight loss that only Dan Mennigan has commented on. And nobody else in my life has commented on at all. And I come to it on your haircut. You told me nice haircut today and I appreciate that greatly. But I am down about 20 pounds or so. And nobody Dan Mennigan's the only person in my whole entire life orbit that has said anything.

Well, now you got a factor in me into that. Well, and you can add it to the list. And I appreciate that. I won't forget this. Yeah, but I think the reason why is because there's been times in my life in the not too distant past where I would I would lose like 20 pounds. And then people would start to be like, hey, looking good. All right, buddy, way to go. And then you fast forward like three months later, that's all gone. But I like me playing crap set the casino. I got a system now. Okay. So I bought a system. Okay. You got a system. I got a system. And I'm feeling good. And so yeah, no, no, no, no, you have to be an actual alcoholic for the amount of alcohol for you to drink. Actually make a difference into whether or not you have as much weight gain as we're talking. You're not talking about though. I really do believe that. Okay. If you're like a weekend warrior, maybe you can add up and maybe there's some problems with that. Maybe it's not the greatest. But I'm not in like one night of drinking on a Friday once a week. That's not going to be the difference. Yeah, sure. That's fair. I guess I'm like, I'm probably the least educated person to speak on the matter because I don't really drink at all. So like I'm not like I'm not too plugged in with.

Whether you're looking for an SUV, a truck, a hybrid, or an EV, LACarguide.com is the perfect place to find your next car. Hey there, it's Jill's Slesinger. I'm launching a brand new show. It's called Money Moves. Follow and listen wherever you get your podcasts. Drinker. No, like I will socially, like you know, work dinners or things. Sure, sure, like that. Like you know, can. I just don't. I'm just shocked at the amount of different varieties they have these days. It is, I shouldn't be. I shouldn't be, but like I, it's not going to be out of the game forever. I mean, I take like a, basically like a year absence of drinking because I have very young kids and that's all that really comes down to.

So I'm just busy a lot and I'm putting them to bed at night and I'm doing all these other things and it just doesn't, just don't have the, I don't have the bandwidth for it right now, but we'll get, I promise we'll get there back at some point. But in like a year, all of a sudden we have like 75 new varieties of different drinks and different things to explore and things I haven't even heard of. And like they're talking about all sorts of different ones. I name them, but I don't want to upset anybody because we have sponsors attached to all this, but it's wild to me how often the game has changed. And then maybe one day I'll get to being like your parents, where then you know, just just not drinking that much and then all of a sudden you go, uh, you know, one o'clock in the afternoon and they're hammered. So I would, I'm sure they wouldn't mind me sharing, um, that they really didn't drink much. And I feel like maybe that's why I don't and really cam doesn't either because her parents really don't either. Throughout like, you know, my childhood, like we just really didn't even have like that much alcohol like in the house. Oh, like that. I was the same like grown up. They would have, you know, they'd have like a couple of handles in the basement for when people came over so they can entertain and a couple of bottles of wine, but like nothing too crazy. And they just didn't drink like on the weekends, like when it was just them, you know,

and they'd like they'd go out and get babysitters and stuff, but we just did not see that in the house. Now that's where the present day, um, I go over my parents house, random week the day just to drop by. They're like, we're daydreaming. Poor, poor one. I'm like, I got a call in 45 minutes. I'm not. I want to. Your parents turn into Jimmy Buffett. I'm in the middle of the way. They're just fantastic. Two o'clock in the afternoon. It's what I tell myself I aspire to, by the way. I want to get to a spot where I'm your parents. I just I go golfing in the morning. Maybe I go to the lifetime fitness or something. And then I just day drink and we just make this an everyday occurrence or maybe randomly. I don't know. My kids come over and I'm like, yeah, I'm drinking. It's one o'clock in the afternoon. Don't judge me. It's right there for you, Jonathan. And honestly is like, like you, you, you joke now, but 25 years from now, when you, when your daughters are older and they go back to your house and you and your wife are hammered, replay this conversation.

Don's fantastic. I can't, I cannot wait. Uh, two, one, six, four, seven, four to below 92. Bill and parm up next. Hello, Bill. How you been? Good, good. Great program today. I really enjoyed it. Thank you. Bill. Yeah. I, you know, I think, uh, real quickly, moderation, anything. Life is probably the secret. And so with, uh, betting now, when I was growing up, betting was not an issue, it wasn't everywhere. And so that's becoming another issue for everybody. But nonetheless, um, you know, there are two teams I fall closely in as the Browns and the Kancy Chiefs, in which I grew up in Missouri and I have been falling since 1965. This weekend, I had, I had one way I looked at the Browns going in and one way I looked at the Chiefs going in. I felt the Browns were setting themselves up to show that they had some talent and possibilities. Uh, they certainly had weak areas, but I thought overall this was going to be a better showing.

And again, this is one game and I agree with the Sean Watson. That is what it is. Uh, and when they played, it was almost like, here we go again. And everything, it seemed for a while broke down. When I was watching the Chiefs this weekend, they had holes in their, their system. And I've been saying that their general manager needs to go because their defensive backfield is just barren. It's been wiped out. Their offensive line has been horrible for three to four years. And that is why my homestas injured. He's been running for his life. But they always are able to find guys to replace their corner backs. For instance, like, I obviously think it would have been a big deal. But like, but joyous need, a, a, a serious need. If you're a, if you're a tightens fan, I'll pinch you got to be in this moment, right? Like he goes, he goes to Tennessee. All he does is getting trouble at the law. Doesn't know how to play. He goes to the Chiefs and last night, he instantly remembers how to play again. I've got the same thing. It made no sense. And then, you know, they were, uh, in my fleece, so they were kind of bad

maling how bad the offensive line was and the left tackle was a free agent that nobody's heard and they kind of got him off the street. And it's going to be a nightmare tonight for my homes. Well, I mean, Walker ran like he was, uh, you know, the best bring back in the NFL and has been that way. And I mean, just ran over the Denver. And so I mean, what was in my house was nothing special. No, he really wasn't. Yeah, he really wasn't anything great. But it was just enough. The White receivers are not all that hot. So what did we witness last night? And again, I think it goes back to culture. And I just think the men that clear out this culture we have here of Barry and these kind of guys, but you guys don't have the owner. This is not the place to be. And they got to get somebody else and get this going because I really think Andy Reed is over the hill. I think he's burned out in their off at some coordinator, but dealing with this sun,

shooting his wife. Yeah, the enemy stuff was, that was, so no tab with you on how you put that. But yeah, I mean, that's, but anyway, you got this night really enjoyed the program and had a good evening. All right. Thank you, Bill. I appreciate you. Bill maybe realized he could have been more, maybe more careful. I mean, that wasn't wrong. He didn't say anything wrong. It's just, it's just in a bedside manner. It's a decent point though. When you zoom out and you realize, like, my whole, this was kind of pedestrian. I can't stop laughing about the Vietnamese. You're killing me here, Jack. I know. Like we went through this with the arch stuff earlier. Like it's not funny, but that was bizarre that he said that out loud. When you zoom out with the chief's thing, I do wonder how much of it is culture though, just because like I agree with him. It seems like over the last couple of years, Andy Reed's powers have kind of diminished. I'm not going to say they're gone. Like I do think there's still a great offensive mind in there, even though he is getting up there in terms of years. And then my homes last night didn't have to do anything superhuman, but you've got kind of walker running wild to your point, JP like, Jerry's need look great for the first time. I mean, you might be so

pissed if I was a giant fan. For the first time in years. And it's like, and it's like, that's the kind of same stuff that happens here. And we kind of just watched a mass exodus of sorts, where it felt like some of our culture guys departed. You know, Joe Batonio retired. David and a joke who's kind of really evolved into being a team guy and a fan favorite, following all of his trade requests stuff early in his career. I know those guys are gone now. I got to be honest with you. I mean, the culture conversations are always tough for me. I am very much a, I, you know, I like what I can quantify. I like what I can put a number to. I like what I can see. I, that's how I've always operated. Okay. And so like sometimes when people go on tangents about culture or whatever, I, you know, I often, you know, sometimes I roll my eyes. And sometimes I'll just think to myself, well, it's funny how culture works. When you have a bad team, you have a bad culture. When you have a team that wins a lot all of a sudden, you have a great culture. I guess the culture on this chief's team drastically different than when it was when my home's got injured last year or even before my home's got injured last year. No,

but I think that's the, I think that's the point though, is that they have such a good culture regardless. Whether my home's just hurt, whether he's healthy, whether he's healthy and still knocking off rust, there's a case of somebody that actually can knock off some rust because he was only gone for a couple of months and we've seen him be superhuman. Not six years ago. It was much more recent from a home's than six years ago. So I think the overall point is that when you have a good culture, it kind of lasts and it can stay or I mean, well, I mean, this don't just one six games last year. I think I think the greater point is that when you have Patrick Mahomes, your quarterback, you're always going to have you want to call a culture, you want to call a confidence, call it whatever you want. When you have the homes, is your quarterback, you never feel like you're losing a game. And right now, the problem the Browns have is that they enter every game. If you're on this Browns roster thinking we don't have the best quarterback on the side. Like it doesn't matter who we're going up against in the NFL, whether it is Trevor Lawrence last week or Baker Mayfield this upcoming week or how even Bryce Young two weeks from now, you don't feel like you have the best quarterback on your team. That's a real problem.

Even that don't mess with all this Rogers now 42 42. I don't like you don't have the better quarterback in that one. And it's such a quarterback dependent league. And so that's like we talk about my culture and everything. And I do believe that the chiefs have done a lot in building that roster and building up the right team, etc. on and on the list goes. But ultimately, if I got Patrick Mahomes on my team, I'm always going to feel like I can win a game. And that's what the Browns are missing right now. They don't have enough guys out there that you feel like we're better in this area, this area, in this area. And that's why we can have problems. We can have whatever. But I got somebody that's a Superman that I'm going to be able to go ahead and take to the finish line. We just don't have them. They've also got foundational cornerstones though. Like Chris Jones, you feel pretty good every time he suits up on the D line. You know Travis Kelsey, even though he's on the back nine of his career. And I don't know that we're going to get that same Travis Kelsey. We got last night over a 17 game season. But he's a foundational piece of that thing. Like the foundational pieces here right now, Denzel Ward, outside of that, you know, it's a lot of young guys. Yeah, we're just supposed to be that

eventually. Sure, sure. Of course, of course. We'll find out. You know, I hope some of these guys on the offensive side do come along and can turn into that. You know, it'd be nice if you know, we did the top 100 NFL, you know, they're player ranking things. We had two guys in the top 100. You know, and it wasn't like we it wasn't like a lot of people that had been here for a long time and a bunch of veterans and a bunch of guys cracking the top 10. Like it, no, that wasn't the case. And so, no, it's very tough. I just I spent a lot of time. I think it's just because we're getting ready to play Baker on Sunday. I've just spent a lot of time thinking about the roster turn and that just a lot of those familiar faces are gone and that, you know, that was by design. It was. It was. But and those guys were part of Miles Garrett, Nick Chubb, Jolt Botonio. At the end of the day, those guys, you know, he gave it a joke. Jack Conklin, like there's a lot of guys and that was by design though. I really do feel like they want to turn the page on what that era was that era of Brown's football that won a playoff game and acted like they'd won. I don't know back to back AFC title games. Now, I think I think they wanted to rid themselves of that of

that all entire group that felt like they had a lot of expectations fell wildly short of those expectations, but still acted like they'd accomplished. They did. They definitely did. It's just that was your chance at installing any semblance of a culture. You know, Baker, foundational player, Jarvis Landry, Nick Chubb, Denzel Ward. Obviously, it was a part of that thing. Jolt Botonio, David Jokou, you had a bunch of guys that were around for a minute. It was set up for it to look similar to the chiefs, but you're right. You didn't have them at home as you didn't have a superhero on that team. You tried to trade for one at back for your epic proportions. And that's where we're at right now. All right. I promise Guardians and I don't want to be a liar. Okay. Is the Guardians games tonight? I must win. I think so. I just don't know how you can look at it in another way. I mean, like if you lose this game before being realistic, you lose it. There still is the wild card path, but I'm going to call it a must win because I do think you win this division is back on. That's the crazy thing about this American League right now. And the nice thing about this American League Central is that there are no elite teams. And I definitely do

think that if they can win tonight, the central division watch lives on at least for one more day. I might got a guardian thought. Hello, Mike. Hey, dude, Foster, I've never seen a dude have a 15 when his war is point minus two. Look at his war. I just got into this. And how is Pete Crow Armstrong going to be the first player since Mickey Mell in 1956 to have a 10 war? You're telling me Pete Crow Armstrong 2026 is better than Barry Bonds like circa 2000. Well, he's about to do a 40 40 season win league MVP in the national league and win a gold glove on time. What he's doing every day. I like how dominant Barry was and how dominant this dude was. Do you see what I'm saying? By the way, are you are you accurate in that? Barry Bonds didn't have a 10 war season at all. And when he went for straight MVP, that doesn't sound right. I can't take 56 is the last 10 war season. That doesn't sound right because Barry Bonds again

and I'm going to be a well, all right. I'm going to be a com. We're he's reporting it out. Don't yell at me. What what what what war are they using? Are these using baseball reference war or are they using fan graphs war? I don't wish one would they be using well, okay, so baseball reference war has Barry Bonds within 2001 had 11.9 in 2002 at 11.7 in 2004 10.6 Google that Google dot com. Aaron judge it in 2024 and 2025. What do you think about this foster dude? I mean, is that accurate? He's minus two right? Point minus two. Can he at least be like point like plus two? He does have a negative at this point, which is kind of a it's a good catch by you. I mean, you've seen him blow up in recent games in recent the best like four games. He's always done his blow up. Yeah, he's gotten rocked a couple times. Our starting pitching in September has been like 29 since coming over to the guardians. He has an ERA near six like like to say that has been I mean, it's again, it's only 33 innings.

That's that's what you're looking at by the way. It's just the American League version. They they they wait his and versus AL differently. So the cumulative for the season. He's still a positive. He's going to be in the you know, high twos area because his Washington. He was so good with Washington. That's where he's why he made an all-star game, right? But with with the guardians again and that's that's a collective total of seven starts. That's where the negative wins above replacement comes in and then he's been with with gentlemen. He's been awful since he's gotten here. The seven pitches that he uses is maybe like I don't know for too many for him to have success with us. It just hasn't worked. Yeah. But what do you think about the Gil Vargas? I don't know. Thank you Mike. You make a natural regret. Did you read it? All right, Mike. This isn't the baseball hour. I appreciate you. We did it. We tried doing the guardians in order to make myself not a liar. We broke down war. I broke down Foster Griffin. We went we went broke down with Barry Bonds. Yeah. When you go to Vargas, I'm out.
