Joe Giglio contends that the Philadelphia Eagles must graduate from a "win is a win" mindset to a more dominant standard to be considered legitimate title contenders. The discussion explores Landon Dickerson playing through a significant injury and the historical difficulty the franchise has faced when traveling to Tennessee. Guest Rhea Hughes joins the conversation to analyze the offensive line's performance and the team's evolution under new leadership.

I said nobody. Reflective Douglas. No, I'm just saying, man, I'm just saying because you know, it's, you know, be it to be, to have an opportunity to work in a major market like this. And then, you know, as a, probably as a young broadcast or whatever, and to have that opportunity to take, take it away from you, because some old ass do wanna, you know, have a little bit of glory. Well, nah, that's, I just don't think that's cool. So when you, when you, when you take it away. When I, when I walk away, I'm gone. But I might, I might call you to harass the, the, the screener. Yeah, we don't have to answer your phone call. Hey, hey, hey, hey. I might call you to harass the screener. Should we take you to call him? Nope. No. Hey, hey, hey, hey. And then I start seeing Joe, I'm gonna start seeing Joe text and leaving the tweets on my car. Won't let me on. Yeah. I might do that. You're gonna go on some other show and rip off. Yeah, but I'm not coming back. Oh, yeah, going on somebody else's show. Yeah, I mean, after you helped me get my job as a radio host. Yeah, I mean, you don't, I'm, you don't, I'm you'd all those notifications. But yeah, we get it. Yeah, we are. It's all right. It starts. Lot to talk about. Yeah, people might consider this messy, but you I have something I need to tell everyone today.
Okay, I just. I'm eight percent. No, no. I need us all to come together on something. About what? I think we've lost our way a little bit when it comes to truly understanding what makes greatness and what makes a great football team. We shouldn't have lost our way, but we have lost our way. Here, it's time to retire a win as a win. No, it's time to retire a win as a win. Let me explain. Okay. It's time. So it's just been this crutch we've used two out of the last three years. A win as a win doesn't matter how it looks. So when is it win blah, blah, blah? And that's not true. I mean, it's never been true in pro football history. It's not, it's not. Let me, let me, let me, let me, let me, let me, let me, let me, let me, let me go say anything. Okay, you got it. You got it. You got it. Let me explain. It's, it may be true for mediocre teams. It may be true for sub five hundred teams. It's not true for great football teams. It's not true for teams that make the circle ball. It's not true for teams that win the circle ball. And you know why I know this? Because every single eagle scene that's ever played in the circle ball had dominant regular season stretches and won by a lot of points. Let me, let me just give you the numbers. In case we all forget, the Eagles have been in the circle ball five times, 1980, 2004, 2017, 2022, 2024.
We know what great football teams look like around here. Those point differentials in those years, though how many points they outscore they're opponents by 162, 126, 162, 122, 160. You could do the math on that. That means they're averaging about eight to 10 point victories every time they win. That's a lot of points, not one, not two, not three. They win by margin. And then you go to last year when we all knew deep down it was, right, they had a plus 54 point difference. It was okay, not great. How about 2023? When everyone could see that defense sucked and they were winning all those close games. Their point differential at year was plus five. Teams that get to the certain ball teams that win the circle ball, typically outscrew their opponents about 10 points per game. Seattle last year plus 190. So this whole win is a win thing. It's just a crutch. It's a crutch when the Eagles don't play great. On Sunday, they won. Heard a lot of it's a win. It's a win. No, moving forward. If the goal and the objective is to win the surf ball, we have to grade the Eagles on the idea of they beat the crap out of teams. Because that's how teams that win the surf ball play
in the regular season. Hugh, Mr. It's a win is a win or whatever. We got to retire this man. It's over. No, but I get where you're coming from because Joe, you came up in the air where the offense are high flying. The rules have been changed in order to cater offenses and allow them to score more points. But I grew up in the air where it wasn't like that. We grew up in the air where 13 to 6 and things like that. They were the norm in NFL. I was looking at some of the scores for some of the Super Bowers. Now some of them were blow outs, but some of them were pretty close. Some of them were some close games. I'm looking at the 19-satting five Super Bowl, Pittsburgh, still in Minnesota Vikings. 16 to 6. You're talking about 1976 Super Bowl. Pittsburgh, stillers, $21, Cowboys, 17. That's the world that the NFL used to be in. But what has happened, the rules have changed. They've allowed the offenses to score more points. So now we as fans have gotten spoiled because every Sunday, we want to see the high flying, the big passes,
the big time plays and things of that nature. That's not the way it used to be. Now I understand that it's like that because it gets more fans involved in the Gram has grown. The game has grown expeditiously. But the core values of the NFL is, or one of the core values I should say is, a win is a win. And sometimes the wins are ugly, but the one thing still holds true and I think Coach Seriani said it in this press conference this week. It's hard to win in this league. Sure it is. It's hard to win. I understand that, but that's not how the great teams play. It's not now, you could, you're point on the Super Bowl. Super Bowl is one game, right? That could be a blowout, could be close. That I'm talking about to get there to be a great team. Teams that win the Super Bowl or get there, typically, and this is over 60 something years of history, dominate during the regular season. Hugh, your teams did. You go back to the early 2000s. You guys, your point to Frenchals were 106, 135, 174, 126. You beat the crap out of teams. You did. The last year's Eagles team did not and we knew they weren't a Super Bowl team.
2023, they did not and deep down we knew they weren't a Super Bowl team. So we could do the win as a win for week one and it's week one. I get that. But moving forward, guys, we need to retire this. If we're talking about the Eagles as a Super Bowl team, then a win as a win doesn't get you to the Super Bowl. 215, 592, 94, 94. We got to retire it. All right, let's hear a couple of Eagles this week. Obviously don't agree with me and they don't want to retire. They say, Juan Barkley talking after the game seems like he's okay. What a win as a win. There's some stuff that we got away with that can hurt us in the future. And we got beyond it. It's what I saw from that. I think we're going to do that. I don't think I know we're going to do that because it's time for coaches that we have and the type of leaders that we have in our locker room and our offense. But most of the world we came out with the win. Last year, I know everyone tried to make something of we won by two points. We're not getting on that this year. And that's a beautiful thing. We come out with a win. We're going to be happy. We're going to celebrate and we're going to flush it and move on and get ready for next week. And look, if the Eagles are beat the Rams by two points in a couple weeks, that's a different story.
That's a high-end team. It bears by a point or two or three. That's different. The commanders? No. That's not a good football team. The Titans. Oh, my goodness gracious. This should not be a win as a win on Sunday. Let's hear Joe and Hertz yesterday, similarly talking about a win as a win. That's always been my perspective. That's always been the MO as a guard there. I found a way to win. Because it's a hard thing to do. Winning is hard then. It requires what it requires. So we try and focus on the work, try and focus on the process. And I think coaches, you know, just been really good with leading that, but that's where we are. You know, it's funny about the jail and stuff with the win as a win. I don't remember this ever coming up in 2022 when jail and played at an MVP level. When they won by scores of 24 to 7, 24 to 8, 35, 13, 35, 10, 48, 22, there's no win as a win back then. Same quarterback.
Same coach. They just blew the doors off of teams all the way to get into the streetball. 215, 592, 94, 94. Is it time to retire a win as a win? It has to be. Haven't, don't we know better by now? Haven't we seen enough teams here that have gotten to the streetball versus teams that haven't? The teams that get to the streetball and Philadelphia dominate during the regular season. They do not scratch and claw their way to 24, 22 wins. The teams that don't do that, they fall short in the playoffs. I just feel like we know better. And we do this every year. Kyle is a win. Still a win. Well, I think people have troubles. They're like losing sight of what that actually means. There's a process versus results type thing. Now is the goal to win games in the NFL? Absolutely. And are we allowed to enjoy wins and be happy with wins? Yes. But if you don't think those players and coaches are in there every week being critical of themselves, even in wins, then you just don't really understand what's going on here. The purpose of fixing the process is so you can get the most amount of wins in the future.
It's not just we won everything's perfect. That's just not ever how it works. We have good shows, but there's always one or two things that we want to do. People ever like, these are competitive athletes who are striving for perfection. That they'll never achieve. So the whole purpose of that is to continue to work on things even when you win, even when you win, so that the next one you win again. We have another game to win. So let's go look at what we could do better, even in the win in this last game. What can we do better so that we can win? What can we do better that will continue to have us win football games throughout the season and then go win the ultimate goals in the Super Bowl? The playoffs wins or wins? I understand that. When it's an elimination game, all you need is a win. But there's a process to this thing. The team has to look inwards and try and improve every week. They can't sit there and just tell themselves, oh, when is it when they can say that to the media all they want? But I know that they're working hard during the week so that they can go win again. Right.
It's the process. Funny, I don't think we do this in other sports. Like if the Phillies are not hitting and they get two hits in a game and they win because of a one run victory, we don't say, oh, here we go. No, we say, not isn't going to work long term in football for some reason. And maybe it's because the season is shorter. There's just less sample. Yeah. And the wins mean more. Yes. I get that. But the truth is the reality plays itself out. We did this three years ago. 2023 was the end of me ever believing a win as a win. They were 10 and one and everyone, including the team, he was saying, it's not good enough. And the bottom fell out. Like they didn't just like stop winning. They started losing. So like it does matter how it looks. And again, I'm not saying they have to blow over team out. I know that's not how it works. And when they play the Bears and they play the Rams, I expect those to be close competitive games. And if they win by a field goal, that's great. But when you're playing the commanders, that's not a very good football team. That's, you know, winning by two is not something you kind of look away like, oh, wow. And then this weekend, they're playing a team that we heard the call in Nashville a couple days ago. It's what, 30 teams, 50 pounds, a horse manure, the browns, the tights.
Yeah. So a crappy team. Yeah, but they're still a professional team. Barely. And I hear what you're coming from. But Joe, I think the difference is this. When players said it's not coming from a place of complacency. And I think that when fans hear players say that, that's what they're thinking. And I can tell you to a man, even in a win, when you go into that meeting, it's always yeah, but hey, you had three sacks, but you miss one or something like that because at the end of the day, that's what you're striving for. You're striving for that perfection. So when players say that, I understand for the fan that doesn't really understand it, you tired of hearing it. But it's like, okay, we prepared things didn't go well. We still got to win. And that's all that matters. But next week, we can't have the same mistakes. Of course. And we have to be better. Now, with all that being said, going into this game this weekend, it can't look like it looked against the Commodore.
Because this is probably even a worse opponent. And that's a fact that's the reality of situation. And I'm not trying to sit here and blow smoke up anybody glues and try to say, you know, we go out there and we squeak and win past the Commodore. That that's acceptable. But what I will do and I will say is this. Win is a win. There it is. Yeah. That's all that that's how it is, Joe. Two one five five nine two ninety four ninety four. Where do you come down? Are you ready to retire? A win is a win? Or is still that the way you view the Eagles and the way they play every Sunday? Your calls on all this. Rea is going to join us coming up. We'll get to what Jeff Reesim said about you on her. So boy, boy, that's coming up a lot to talk about. It's a big day show on sports radio, ninety four WIP. Back to the day show. Hugh Douglas. Joe, you guys would ask two one five five nine two ninety four ninety four. That is how you join us and joining us now in studio. It's been a while. That's a week. I took the summer off. Well, we're happy to have you back. It's like it's like a preseason with Eagles. They don't do it anymore. You don't do it anymore. I don't do it anymore. You're back for the Regulacy. It's a rea here with us. Rea, how are you? I am fantastic. How are you? We're good. I mean, Eagles are one of them.
They have a game this weekend that they should win by a good amount of points. We'll see if they do. You know, they've not believed they've won down there, right? They've never won a Tennessee. Remember we haven't won a Tennessee. I don't think so. Now they haven't had many. They haven't had a lot of games. I think you're right. I think you're right. I had a great game against. We didn't win down. We went down there when you wasn't that the famous sticks game. Jim Schwartz 2018 was Carson's second game back off the injury that year. When was the last time they played there before? I think you're right. I feel like the same thing is in my head. I can't remember a win in Tennessee. You think you won in Tennessee? I think we did because I remember beat miss was going to beat me up that weekend. And then we were down in Tennessee. And I think we did we win that one? I can remember where it was. Oh, I thought I heard somebody say that you did. You did here. We did. We did. We also at Titans 2000 to 20. No, I'm sorry. We lost. Now you lost. Oh, you lost. 27, 24 Titans. I thought we won that. You guys beat them here. That's why I was just kind of taking it out. Mixing it up. Are you guys beat them here?
I know you lost them here. I'm going to tell me you beat these guys. I'm looking at them. No, because I already do. I thought we beat them there because I remember going there and I thought we beat them and then Steve Meanard came in on the last drive. They beat us here. I remember that one. Okay. I don't believe anything you have to save right now. No, because you know what? I remember those two games because the first one beat Mitch was about to beat me up. Oh, okay. And then be hopped. I caught him by his name and they went on that 20-play drive and that's when they won. And because I caught him a name. What is your call? Female dog. I told him you're my female dog and he. I didn't go over well. Okay. No, the last time I got this locked in. Okay. The last time the Eagles beat this franchise away from Philadelphia was when they were in Houston. So the Eagles have not run in Tennessee. That's insane. Yeah. It was 1991. Is that the house of pain game? That might have been. Yeah. That's you bring the house. We'll bring the pain. Yeah. I mean, it's this is it's a long time. Wes Hopkins, Wade Haldedon, tell me Ernest Gibbons, Ernest Jackson over the middle.
I got a box score. Yeah. Yeah. So the Eagles beat them here with Jalen in 2022. That's the first certain bull season with Jalen. The Eagles lost to the one you remembered, Rhea in Tennessee in 2018. Yeah. They beat them here in 2014. They lost there in 2010. Yeah. And then back to your time here, you lost 27-24 in Tennessee in 02. What do you do? How many sacks you have that day? I don't remember. Okay. We don't seem like a lot because I was too worried about being a BNB. I want to make sure me and BNB was cool. Yeah. I ain't got that smoke. No. It's starting to smoke you don't. All right, Rhea. Yes. You're thoughts on what we opened the show with. So Eagles won the first game and it was, look, I thought some good things, but Jalen, I thought the past rush was pretty good. They just, Jay and Dan was got away, but I thought overall, all right, first week, but it was only a two-point win and it was tied at the end. Now we face another bad team. And Rhea, to me, in the best Eagle seasons, they win by margin a lot. They'll win by 10, they'll win by 14. Like the years they get to the football, they have those weeks. And then a year like last year, there's less of that. 20, 23 when they started 10 and one, but every game was like, and the bottom was miserable
after every game. Yeah. So I know if some fans want it to be a win as a win, Hughes says a win as a win. I know he has that perspective as a former player. To me, if you're a great team, you start to beat teams up, especially teams you should beat up. Where do you come down? Because there's a lot of this with this team is a win as a win. So I felt, I was, last year was a slog. We all know that. I mean, even the 13, 12 game against Buffalo, you're really happy they won. No completions in the second half. No exactly. Bro Cereano Patulo with the one touchdown. And what was the one, was the game in Kansas City where Chris Jones, which was one of the dumber things he's ever done, is trash talking Jalen that he had like 10 yards in the second half. And Jalen told him to shut the bleep up. You're losing. Yeah. One of my favorite moments by Jalen. It was great. Show me as an edge. What I saw was I saw some different things on offense. I actually saw motion. Now it's not as much motion as the rest of the league, but it was way more than they've ever done. Um, I loved how Jalen looked. Didn't like the offensive line. That whole land in Dickerson.
I need stories on how they allowed it. I need answers. How they allowed, I mean, how they allowed him to be out there is to me. I just, I can't buy that nobody knew that he wasn't injured when it was hurt. He was hurt several weeks ago. I agree with you. I just can't buy. I'm, and you put your quarter back. So there's probably a reason the offense didn't look great because you, you were completely compromised by a major part of your offensive line. So you're running game shot. Jalen's got to run around. You're going deep because you want to get rid of the ball like as fast as you can. They, so to me, even though these young guys might not be as good as landing in his prime, we know that. Yeah, right. But they can move. Yeah. And it can look good at the precinct. Yeah. If it's him, it might be better. Now, the thing is if I'm seeing improvement on the offense and the, you know, say, you don't want to see close game this week, but listen, it's going to be a hundred degrees. I know they always play one of these September games every year.
It's usually in Tampa, usually Tampa, usually Tampa. And, you know, were you at the game you on Sunday? Yes. Okay. Was it not on godly hot? Yeah, the war. I mean, and that was like in the 80s, but the humidity. Yep. So when the Eagles keep doing three and outs in the third quarter, the defense was gassed. Yes, it was. That's what we were. So I'm a little concerned that you're going to be in, you know, they said record temperatures 98. It might not be 100 or something. Yeah, it would feel like 105 or better. It might be closer than we're all going to excuse me, you know, like to have get it, get it early lead. Well, Hugh, I mean, that would be great if they get a lead and then they could run the ball and maybe take the air out of the, the, the Titans on Sunday. They have a competent offensive lie. They could run the ball. Yes. And, you know, this hard hit analysis has brought to you by Xfiddy, proud sponsor of the happy, extremely mobile lounge, watch all your favorite teams all in one place. Xfiddy, imagine that you had live it or is it would say that now? Is it the hard hit analysis? No, no, I'm not. I'm not, you know, put a little bit of hot sauce on it. Yeah. Well, I mean, cue to the point on, and we discussed a slot. You guys had landed on the chickies of Pete's players lounge. It, there's two sides to one him, right?
Let's, let's hope he gets healthy. Yes, it's good. They figured this out. Hey, listen, he's, I, I had to have to him. He sacrificed his body. Yes, he did. To help the Eagles win the Super Bowl. I mean, he and Cam Jerkens. They both did. Those last couple of games leading into the Super Bowl. They just said we're just going to eat it. Yeah. And they did. And they might never be the same. And they might never be the same. It's unfortunate. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. You know, the reality is, oh, yeah, 100%. Yeah. He's going to be out a while. I mean, I don't know how long he's out, but it's next man up now. And it is, I, you, I could see the offensive lines here without him being better. Right. I mean, I even though, even though Drew Kendall's not half the accomplishment or after draft pick status, he just might be able to move. And right now, Lannick can't move. Yeah. And you know what done fortune thing about it is is that we found all this information out after the fact. And you know, we, you know, I wasn't after the fact it was a run the first quarter. Well, okay. Well, well, well, I mean, hey, why are they running past London? Why is anybody okay to me? Let me, let me amend that a little bit. We found out he was hurt during the game. Yeah, we found out he was hurt, but I mean, we're all watching that game.
He played like garbage during the game. And it does kind of make you wonder how much, how much better this offense would have looked if, you know, because some of those plays when we talk about say, Quandanson in the backfield, the fact that Jayden was under the rest for the most part, it kind of makes you wonder. Yeah. But, you know, hey, the Eagles know more than we do. And they, I mean, they put him out there. They put him out there and they put him out there. And it's fine. But in the second quarter, you got to go, okay, we can't do it. Yeah, yeah, yeah. I mean, that, the fact that that decision was never made, I don't know how you sit in the, you know, so when you guys go over film, do you do it by position? Yes. Well, initially, initially it's a big picture. When you're going in, like say if we're doing an installer, we're just watching the game. We'll go in with Jim. Everybody watches the game. Okay. You know, the linebacker sitting up front, the DB's in the middle, the defense line was in the back. And Jim will go over certain things in the play and be like, you know, for me, I remember vividly, the defensive end is not playing around on this. He's like, whatever, but that's what we would do.
Then you would go into the middle. So the offense does the same thing then, right? Yeah, I would assume so. Yes. I'm just curious how the, when they're watching film, I mean, you know me, if I, I was in a meeting room, you, I'd be like, that's looking at you going, what happened? What the hell you doing? Oh, yeah. But how they, how they, they look at that film, the players and go, how did they leave this guy out here? It's crazy. Yeah. I mean, and that's on Cereonnie. I mean, I don't know where. If Statlin's there, I think he gets. I'm glad you said that. Because the Statlin thing, Rhea, now, this is nothing against Cooper, but you know, Statlin just, I mean, I can't imagine that he would have let him out there. Yeah, well, I mean, also has the Gravitas. Gravitas, that's what I'm talking about. We got to take out of the game. You got to go. Yeah, right. But now, I'm glad you're about Statlin because it, you know, it was a huge story of this offseason. It kind of went away a little bit. Yeah, because it went away because the lineman were so, a few, they were, they were, oh my gosh, a few, so in their race. But now, now I feel like we're going to find out how good Chris Cooper is, right? Like Drew Kendall is not a high pick. Now, I know people said he's had a good camp and all that, but he's going to have to play.
And, you know, there also might be a scenario, but just likely it's the NFL where other guys go down, right? Yeah. But what Statlin was always, if they have to go to a backup, back, backup will probably be pretty good. I don't know yet what Cooper. We're going to find out starting Sunday. That's because you had the, um, my Lada, you know, Fred Johnson played well when he filled in for Lane, McCuy Bechton. Oh, even, uh, the year when Jergens was behind Kelsey and then he played guard next time. I don't feel like whoever had a fill in and plug in, they figured it out. And we're going to start finding that out this Sunday. Or one more thing for the phone lines here, Rea, um, the offense, you said you saw some different things. I think there was more motion that there was all last year. There was motion. There was motion. There was never any motion. What did you make of? And it's kind of, it's kind of parsing the good versus not so good. It's, it felt to me like the good place where like last year, it was the shop place from jail and down the sideline. It was jail and running. I didn't feel like the new stuff worked. I think that was just a week one thing. Is that on your radar? Like, here's what I'm, what I'm thinking with that because I said the same thing that I've got lemon bubble screens with minus five yards.
What's, what are you doing over there? I was trying to turn my phone down and I hit the button. Oh, great. Yeah. I always hear this one. I'm driving in my car and I got to experience it. Let me slide on. No. Just like Dickerson when I'm on the, yeah. Yeah. Oh, wait, it's not a win on the midday show here. Exactly. Exactly. What I, kind of how I was feeling as I watched the game a second time that knowing what I knew about Landon, that he couldn't, that he was having trouble moving, that they went, okay, we got to, you know, we can't do what we want to do. Yeah, it makes sense. So let's go to the stuff. But I think what they said all summer was they weren't going to throw everything out. They were going to keep some of the plays that worked well. And the thing about the wicks play, which thrilled me, is that wasn't the, that was supposed to go to Dallas. He was a clear out route. He was supposed to take the defender with, and then the defender let him go. Let him go, Jayl was like, I love that was one of my favorite plays by Jaylin because he went, oh, hold on. Boom. Man, you pointed that out in his press conference today, like how proud he was because wicks
obviously ran hard to get open. He sure did. He saw him and rewarded him like, all right, you got it. Go. And AJ's not running a clear out point. No, they're, they're not leaving him. I wonder if he is. He's half-haceted. He's not running hard. I mean, like he wouldn't have. If he thought the ball wasn't going to him, there's no way he was going to run. Exactly. So I think that it was a design thing to keep some stuff in that Jaylin's comfortable with. And also how the game was unfolding that you had a compromised offensive line. So maybe we can't do all this stuff that we wanted to, that we've been planning to do, which again begs the question, why did they let it happen? Yeah, especially when you talk about, I mean, it was a valid question because when you talk about a first year coordinator, and I even recklessly speculated last year, I mean, yesterday that the reason why he went to the old stuff is because he was afraid to try to run, because the new stuff wasn't working. So he got a little nervous and he started running the stuff that was out for you. That's how crazy he was yesterday. What did he is? I said he was scared. I don't think so. I think that as the way the game unfolded and they knew that they were compromising. Again, why is he out there that they said, let's just do some of the stuff.
But yeah. But I also, I also think Jaylin was very decisive, seemed very confident. I just, I think that it was, they were trying to do a marriage of both and then things had to change. It's just my, just my opinion. I love directly. I love directly. You said he peed his pants. Yeah. And you left that phrase out to me. Just, yeah, just for full clarity, because I know what you said. He is a professional in your line of business. And he called Cooper to Jean Fatt. I did not call him Fatt. Tell him Kyle. You called him. He called for disgusting slime. I said, I wondered if he put a few pounds on to play safety and maybe he was going to get a job. And then you slander the guy. That wasn't my favorite reason why you thought he sucked. It was the Dallas girl, the Dallas Cowboys. And everyone heard the whole station. Her what you did. All I know is, I've got to find out the guy's hurt yesterday. No, all of the apology, all of that is a lot about it. You're right. It's Kafe. I thought it was real. I'm an abdomen, abdomen, abdomen. Okay. We got there. Abdom. Okay. From the tackle and things. Like I, like I, like I, like I, like I, like I, like I, like I, like I, like I, like I, like I, like I, like I, like I, like I, like I, like I, like I, like I, like I, I, like I, like I, like I. He thinks I think it's great to be here. But it's fantastic. It's fantastic. Hi. You got a fiddle.
I know. Where the dots? Yeah, John Bur bulb in that. You know something correspondent said in this series no Audio. I know that I've noticed that a lot of people are watching. That're crazy. You're lucky. You didn't know that was the Ad одна film director. And you know, you know, the headlights are khakisiks and holy shit. I think I do listen We might have to go show them Here's cook for the day when we can legs that's what I heard you go after Cooper That yeah, I like just snitching on you to read I know she comes up. Did you hear what you dog? The said yeah, all right. Let's go to will in the Northeast. What's up? Well? 3 2 now y'all door what's going on there? Hey, I don't really good. Well, how are you? I love your sermons will I just want you to know that I appreciate listen, I think this store is a PC 13 showy signal
Listen man, I'm going for it. Um, this is what I want to say I think that the Eagles is going to do pretty well But you know what this is what I really want this one my mind. It just seemed like everybody is looking for to entertain it and Not to sport anymore You understand what I'm saying because it used to be a gladiator sport man It's not that anymore. Everybody looking for old. How how good you could throw the ball No, let's bring it back to the smash mouth days man. That's what we used to we used to people getting hit We used to people get ran over we used to people getting beat All it man, but we don't really like it's not it's just about the entertainment now man. That's what I'm thinking Why people are saying a win is it's not a win is entertainment I mean we do have to acknowledge I mean that last year even when they were winning some of those games it felt like homework Yeah, and well think back to you before it say quan was the entertainment. Oh my god It was it was magical right? Yeah, you couldn't get your eyes off you have to mix in both well like I think you know
You have to understand I mean you you played and it's an entertainment sport. Yeah, and it's you know my fault will you got it You know because I I tend to wax play it but you know the floor is yours All right, I apologize you all right, but um look I'm real quick. I'm gonna end it real quick Yeah, I know it is entertaining and everything man Yes, I do want to offense to look so much better. I do want to see the plays you know when they when they execute them Estitute them the right way and make it look good. I do want that But you know like I say it's up to the play calling and the players man and and one thing I want to say about Dickerson and the rest of the team listen You almost got our quarterback hurt and our you know run a back her if you're playing her and you can't block Say it man because listen our season could have entered that game Behind us because I don't know if you're sort of hit that I'm Jalen hurts to he took a hit up a hit man
He did a man felt work Just you know let everybody know and you know the next man up. That's all I got well You got it. Well, he'll one thing. He just said at the end. I'm curious. You're perspective. Who's responsibility as it so so Lannan you knew you saw what I saw your eyes so landing gets rolled up in practice, right? They know he got rolled up Now I don't I have no idea what landed said after the injury the next few weeks What he was telling is the trainers to be fair to him to be I have no idea if he was saying out out out or I'm fine I don't know but is it the players responsibility to take themselves off the field because they just are so banged up They can't play or is it the coaches and trainers responsibility to take them off the field man listen if if if he's out there Right and he doesn't okay. Let me say this first if you go out there You can't take any excuses of injuries anything with you if you go out there as a player to be fair to land in on Monday He did like he said he played like crap. Yeah, but he went out there Yeah, not taking a shot at landed because that's just the code that you live by but the trainers are there To to evaluate and assess
How functional you could be because that everybody gets hurt in a fail will they go to a team doctor or let go to coach You go he looks hurt. Well normally you're like this is for me. This is uncharted waters. Okay, because anytime you have anything that that could affect the way that you move That's a red flag. Did you play on the same team with blame Bishop? Yes, it is Because I've I've been angry with him for like 20 years I would blame was all banged up back their plan when he should he said he re-injured that on the first play of that game When Michael Lewis had played well It's a slippery slope. There's no question about it But when you talk about The offensive line and the continuity that you have to have. Oh, yeah, that's a huge part of it And you have a guy That is clearly compromised I don't I don't know what the protocol was for that because a lot of guys play hurt And I don't know how how bad man then told them that he was You always say it's there's a difference. We're in injured. My coach Billy said all the time You know, because if you're injured that mean you can't go now if you hurt that means you know if you warm your body up
And you can go out your door. Yeah, yeah, so it's one of those things where we need said it and we need to talk about it You know the wheels turning in your head and you have certain questions because you go back and you think about the The situations that you've been in and how to train those handle those Not taking any shots at the trainers because I think that they're really good trainers because they come from that rig burc Holtzer tree. Oh, he's the best so I don't know. I don't know what the conversation was that was had I don't know what he told me probably wasn't being truthful. Yeah, I mean I know as I'm recklessly speculating I think there's a lot that goes along with that to me the coaches have to be the adults in the room I know I agree with the players. Well, ultimately it's on serian. Yes players. Oh, we think I can do it Sure, and their wire to that way like this true. Right. So there's got to be an adult there a trainer a position coach a head coach that says he can't do it The Washington commanders are about to call him by their own name Ruined the career of rg3. Yes, because he thought I could play and they should have been Now they sent him back out he was dragging his leg up and down the field. That was it. Yeah, well that and they never was the same never was the same after that
By the way, how ironic he brought up playing Bishop a career Titan and then he came to the Eagles at the end of his career Oh, I kind of got about that kind of fits for this week. Ria. It was very it was great having you back I missed it. Yes excited for this every week. Ria have a great day. I will talk to you guys next Monday Our next Thursday. I'm sorry next Thursday. We'll talk to you soon. All right coming up all your phone calls on all this Is a you still a win as a win person or can we retire this phrase finally all right? 215 592 9490 for midday show sports radio 94 Wipe For not a sportsbook got some news people and if you've ever heard of a great bet or had a great bet ruined by something totally out of you control You're gonna want to hear what I got to say you heard me talk about fair play their first half injury protection policy Well, knew this season. Ha ha. Fonatics has given you a game changing boost with fair play max You can start clapping if you want to right here people first. There's the original first half injury protection If a player goes down in your prop bet with an injury in the first half any effective straight bets avoided or If it's a part of a parlor sgp the rest of the bet will play on but now fair play max also protects your player
After he gets the job done like when your quarterback goes over for the Russian yards then lose these yards on the kneel down or Your running back hits the over then get stuff for loss once your player hits their over It's locked in for the win even if a negative play happens later They can't take it back protection when it goes down protection when your player goes over that's fair play max From fanatics the only sportsbook to reward every bet must be 21 plus gamma problem called 100 gamma or 100 my reset Jellie you guys with us two one five five nine two ninety four night. Well, get to what you have free simon said yesterday Jeffrey about jl on hurts coming up in a little bit More on Cooper to Jean in the apology Hugh Douglas One tummy tummy you own apology and some really interesting stuff out there about the way jl and Carter played in his first game of the season all all to come We'll talk to jerry someone from down a Nashville later in the show about the Titans and how bad they are so a lot to discuss We just start with this are you still a win as a win person or are you are you past that because I'm past that to me It is about how it looks it is and I heard some people saying um and I think it will brought it up that if people want
Flash and style that's not what I'm talking about when I talk about needing to see more but people do I know but that's okay Maybe some people do for me. I'm looking at how teams that win the surbull get there and typically they get there by Beaton the crap out of teams in the right there. They're normally dominant squad. Yes that we have 60 plus years of evidence down This isn't like the surbull just started last week right that was 60 plus years of evidence that teams that win the surbull generally Have a lot of weeks during the season where they just dominate. I want those games. I have a theory and nobody's gonna like it Can't wait you you might like it It's more jalen hurts protection and jalen was I didn't say his name once I know I did and I'm I understand what kind of gano arms I'm opening up I've noticed a shift towards the win as a win thing Recently and granted it's because the Eagles are winning at a very high high on clip I also understand I'm not playing great but but exactly Because so that's they want the whole story to be just the win and not how we played Because that's the nicest way to talk about jalen hurts. Yeah, was ironic is his first
Dominate year where his best year 2022 They dominated and he looked fantastic. He finished second in MVP. They outscored teams by a hundred and something You know, and then their point difference over 20 differentials plus one 22 if he doesn't get hurt It's probably one of the best in franchise history that he got hurt right and that kind of ended the season in a weird way Because it meant you came in whatever, but they were dominating. So it is it maybe that is a 215-592-94 slick Rick in Westphilis up on WIP slick Rick Tell us that This is very simple a win will always be a win and a loss will always be a loss Now you see we are coming from now, but let me call it time punchline. Let me cook for many go ahead with the wins Because I see you aside. I see you aside. Okay, see the fat remains is That it strength a schedule. It's the opponent that given week And I love the equals philosophy because after the game is like listen We want it wasn't our best game, but let's just say this week they win 50 nothing like that's in a scene
Like I'm not impressed. There's only going to count as one win in the win column You follow what I'm saying. Yes, I think you bring up a really good point that the strength a schedule and who you play in a particular year does play into that I agree with you Right and like you've been there I didn't play that level but I played semi-pro ball and if that remains is it depends who you line up against you follow what I'm saying What do you expect? It's like this we they should walk through Tennessee you select to play the game You still have to score more points than into a win the game But the fact remains is if you win it's a win if you win 50 nothing you don't get to wins in a win column It's just one and all that week. Yeah, I agree you're right. Yeah, when you lose it's only one loss It's not like oh it's a bad loss. It's a good win. I win is the win in the loss of the loss. That's being literal However, I see what you're saying like Tennessee this week they should be up them Exactly, but let's just say they win by seven or they win by ten already I'm covered up So it's another close game if that remains is they still one
It's just a win you follow them. I do I thought you make a good point the opponent always not always matter slick break good fun. It always matters for you play and It I expect them to win this game. I expect them to win this game big I expect us to come in here Tuesday or Monday Excuse me and them to be two and out without question But if we come in here and they win the game 35 to nothing I'm gonna I'm gonna feel differently than if the we come in here and it was 21 20 I mean it was 21 20 against Titans. Yeah, cuz you're gonna feel you're gonna feel like you're moving right direction. Yeah, right I'm gonna feel like you're moving the right. Yeah, I mean, but but There there's a lot that goes into it and and at the end of the day it is hard to win games, you know, but uh I get where you're coming from I don't subscribe to it because I don't I don't think it's right But I understand what you what you mean when you say You want this offense to look like a super bowl caliber offense. It's not gonna look like that just yet And I'll tell you another thing Joe going into this game Especially given the information that we're gonna we're gonna talk about later on
It should be easier To have the kind of success that you're talking about it should be because now Cuz now we know what the Titans are gonna do defensively. Well, we're gonna get to that and what we said yesterday Which we're like that's what they call that they call it long that's a tease by dog like you dog looks Look at me getting be in a professional. That's why we're winning the more coding it's a one day. I'd better be this year So the other thing just kind of in general with how the Eagles win and wins or win or whatever The analogy I would use is is flipping a coin Like the game on Sunday ended up being a coin flip game right the game came down to the final play of the game Regardless of who we think is better and I think the Eagles are obviously better than the commanders And you know, I think most people run football think the Eagles are better than the commanders the game came down to one play And the Eagles had a lot of those games in 2023 where they were on the right side of a coin flip I remember the Dallas game here right when BG push DACA out out out out of bounds who's trying to get in the end zone a lot of those games If you keep if you keep flipping a coin you can't just keep being confident It's gonna land on the side you know what you don't want to you don't want to live in that space right
That's just hard to win consistently that way and that's why I'd like I'd like that to sprinkle in a few dominant efforts here Like just let's look forward the next couple months. I know they face some good teams I'm not saying they have to blow the bears out that feels unrealistic or the Rams but they got a blood Titan Blood the Titans right? I'll even say when the Panthers come in here in the middle October That should be a game what we shouldn't have to you know bite our nails in the fourth quarter when they play The Cardinals in in whatever that is late November early December the colds like they have four or five games on their schedule That it should not be in question what's gonna happen and I thought one of those games was the commanders unfortunately It got it got a little hairy at the end and now we got another one. I mean speaking of tomato cans A couple years ago Hugh Douglas when he's been a Degarnal Degeneres. I mean completely when what he said on Caroline Imagine the fact that the teams that the Eagles have played throughout the state game win streak have been tomato cans This is the tomato can on Sunday That wasn't what those they were not Remember the team which was a lie
Yeah, it was great. Sometimes your truth is a lie. I'm just saying they're much. They look they play great teams Anyway, this is this is a true tomato can that they're gonna play on Sunday And they better take care of business here and they better win by a lot of points All right 215 592 94 94 that is how you hop board we got a lot to get to here on the show coming up on the other side Your phone calls on all this is so you still a win is a win person or if you moved on I think we need to Retire the statement the Eagles are too good for this you think down in SEC country They talk about like Georgian if they win by a touchdown. That's okay. No No, they have standards and then to me the Eagles are just like that But an NFL team that they should dominate most weeks your take on it is a win still a win I think we need to graduate this if if the goal actually is to win the scoop ball and Some bulletin born material jellens name came up in that segment What Jeffrey Simmons the star defensive tackle for the titan said about jell and hurts Was it off base was it fair?
