Il tesoro del Polluce è l’unico tesoro “monetale” sommerso trovato nei mari italiani. Nel 2000 fu trafugato da una banda di inglesi che con un benna - una ruspa - distrussero l’antica nave della ditta Rubattino, il piroscafo Polluce. A bordo, secondo i giornali dell’epoca – siamo nel 1841 – c’erano 170mila monete d’oro e d’argento e molti gioielli. Solo un piccola parte di questo tesoro è stato ripescato. Il resto, forse, giace ancora sui fondali al largo dell’Isola d’Elba.
