It's live on K-E-X-P. I am your host, John Richards. We broadcast in Seattle all over the Bay and worldwide at K-E-X-P.org. And a reminder, these sessions take place because we are independent and because of donations from people like you. And man, that allows us to have one of my favorite bands on this planet, Interpol Live on K-E-X-P. Take it away. By the end, Chief Mark is here, like you see out loud. I know, stuff the physics of the end. We get buried in the sound. I'm dying right in a kiss this sand and a neon blower. I know, I'm not here to contain you. I just need to let you out.
Say something magical now, say something for me. I've got the right notes in nowhere, but I need some poetry. Was it me, or the other one, trapped in something, but I don't need my side, never separate. By the end, Chief Mark is here, like you see out loud. I know, stuff the physics of the end. We get buried in the sound. I'm dying right in a kiss this sand and a neon blower. I know, I need to contain you. I just need to let you out.
I want to know what you've done, and by a lover someone you can't find. Now I have a kiss, I know that you're strange. I'm out of this and I'm going to live with you. I want to sleep, or something, or try to stand, or something. I've got the beat, we both side, and never separate. But you can, that's what you can't. By the end, Chief Mark is here, like you see out loud. I know, stuff the physics of the end. We get buried in the sound.
I'm dying right in a kiss this sand and a neon blower. I know, I will not be too late, because I'm never leaving now. I know, I will not be too late, because I'm never leaving now. Size of that, not when it beats as one. Oh, I'm dying, I'm being so strange. Size of that, not when it beats as one. Baby, go and sleep. Because I think I'm out of this and it beats as one.
To take the world around me. The sea is so strange. To take the world around me. To take the world around me. To take the world around me. To take the world around me. To take the world around me. It's Interpol live here on KexP.
I was in the front row after the session. It was a hell of a day. I've been a fan ever since. Thank you for all these years of music. It was right after the record came out. It was one of those magical moments when a band comes and rises, it's all starting. For me, that record came out at a time where I was like, this is exactly the band I need right now. I've seen you since in a couple of shows, but this new record feels like I'm back at the debut again. I feel like this one just jumps right out at me. How are you feeling about it? It's been fun playing the new songs live and it was a really fun record to make. It's a record we made with Brad over here on a long time basis. It's been great. That one is the entire record awesome. I'm hearing that song. You're going to play some older songs too. Let you do that. It's Interpol live here on KXP.
I've been stuck for a few days. I've been in nothing but sweat. I've been far away. It seems for things to regret. My friends, they come. And the lives they go right. I don't regret. My name is Drew. I'm not gonna rest. My name is Drew. My life's a lonely. Just a region three kinds of years. I've been stairways. It seems for things that I regret all the days in the sun.
The roots here to my eyes that I'm gonna rest. My chemistry that I'm gonna rest for my chemistry. So young, so young, you look in my mind. So young, so sweet, so sweet. I'm gonna rest. It's like the day to go right. Just replying in my far away. It won't take some time to realize. My friends, they come. And the lives they go right. Tonight, I'm gonna rest.
My chemistry that I'm gonna rest. My chemistry. So young, so sweet, so sweet, so sweet. From the ceiling to the ceiling, my wings and my wings Let it go, I can't rest I can't rest To let it go, I can't rest I can't rest Let it go, I can't rest To my hands too To let it go, I can't rest
I can't rest It's interpole live here on KexP, guys ready for another one? Yeah, the song is called Wings on Fire I said, we need to find reason why And it's excellent me now
To my heart's hurt I never knew what I never knew what I had I never knew what I never knew what I had I never knew what I had I never said, this is no profit I never spoke to the sound of this pain I never said, this is one's my last thing I'm sweet from my middle name I said, we need song by And it's amazing why And it's excellent me now To my heart's hurt I never knew what I never knew what I never knew what
I never knew what I had I never knew what I had I never knew what I had I never knew what I had I never knew what I had I never knew what I had I never knew what I had Don't give up anything about yourself Don't show a purpose don't tell no one else Because you are nothing to me But today, to remote all super-hills Say, read on words Read and why And it's excellent me now To my heart's hurt I never knew what I never knew what I had
I never knew what I had I never knew what I had I never knew what I had This is when I've had to go It's time to give This is when I've had to go As much The sun is shining And so far I would like to know Please find That's the thing I don't mind
I would like to know Please find I am Be the slowest I am Be the slowest I am Be the slowest I am Interpol live here on KXB Sounding great The new album is called This Mirror Ways a Ton I read the Guardian called it a masterpiece That's pretty good Yeah, that's pretty good That's got to feel pretty good I was happy to see that It's nice to be here I want to ask you two in particular What are relationships are hard to keep together But in a band, what's the secret for you guys? What are the songs that keep you two together at least? I think there's a lot that goes into it I think we're also lucky
It all starts with a deep artistic compatibility I wonder if everything flows from that There's this sense that if you I'm working on how to articulate this concept Something about how you like their art By extension, there's a lot of the way they carry themselves in life That is also tasteful and not off-putting I think we're just lucky in that sense And then work on yourself and work on your ego stuff Working on interpersonal relationships So I think trying to be the best version of yourself also helps As you go on Yeah, and you all have to be doing that Otherwise you're leaving one behind And it doesn't work Also, I think the longer you've been doing it the more you realize it is A very special thing And you should really treasure it And try to preserve it And then be careful of it And I think when you're young it just goes by so fast It's just happening so fast Everything's in real time But as you get further along I think you're like, oh wow, you've done so much together You have so much history You spend so much of your time
You know, your life together And it's such a unique way to live That it's also like, it's very special And it's something that you know I think it's something being in a ban Also it teaches you a lot just about I don't know, just being a more patient Better communicator And it's a special way to live Do you remember when you found that being the moment With the band or in your own life? I think it's more like when you started earlier And you were talking about like, I think we spoke like, you know, in 2002 You were like, wow, that was almost 25 years ago That's a lot of time, there's a lot of records, a lot of art It's a lot of travel in the world So I think in that sense Yeah It's a lot of beautiful experiences And a lot of moments that we're testing as well So in that sense it's really like And then you have this great tapestry Behind you of all these like alms and muses that you've created together And it's a really beautiful chemistry And it's a very special thing in this world And you're a father, is that correct? Who's the your father? And you have how many kids now?
Two now Two how old? My son is three and my daughter's 11 months Oh you're a full man You are in it In the thick of it Yeah, how's that? That's got to have changed you I mean I know it changed me when I had kids Yeah, I love it I love being a dad I love I think it's something I always wanted And you know, since I've been a parent I feel very fulfilled and very sort of like fully actualized Yeah, basically Yeah, when you're putting a record together like this one And you've been doing this for a while And you're hearing like masterpiece and it's going well Did you know right away? Yeah, this is where we need to be This feels great Or was it when you listen back to songs that were recorded Like when did you know you were making this amazing record? I had a really good feeling after the first three songs that we worked on I just felt like things were in the stars that like it had a You know, it was destined to be a good body of songs and a good record And then I think all along the way which was always exciting
We not only had Brad, we worked with Andrew Wyatt as a producer And he really brought such fresh creativity and such great ideas And so I think it was like a lot of fun the whole way through So it just never lost this kind of good juju that I sensed really early on It's supposed to be fun Yeah, absolutely It is And it's always sometimes it's just so laborious And was this back in New York? And it did you record it in New York? First sessions were in New York, yeah, and then we did the writing sessions in New York And then we recorded it at Andrew Wyatt Studio, Harcos in Chinatown Well, sounds awesome And again, congratulations on an amazing record Thanks for playing Songstroman, you do have an older song you're going to play too Next? Yeah, this one's from Elpentor, it's called My Desire You're right, I know, I'm a frustrating man
My mouth keeps, you're what we get You're my desire It is as long as you're gone Your voice is supposed to be angry These eyes are strong Seached by desire Come on, baby, baby, yeah Take me out, look like your chance to be Take me out, so I gave you a heart Time will change a car
See my desire Elp's are long moves Your love's teammates You stick to the moon Your life's desire Come on, baby, baby, yeah Take me out, look like your chance to be Take me out, so I gave you a heart Time will change a car
