Rocker, record, rock. Rocker, record, rock. Rocker, record, rock. Rocker, record, rock. Wow. That was massive, beautiful, emotionally devastating. Lastima right here, live on K-E-X-P. Thank you so much for coming in. Thanks for having us. This was a really fantastic set. I didn't know what to expect outside of, you know, record a bunch of times, but wow, that was really fantastic. You know, people might be just finding you for the first time,

tuning in right now. Why don't we talk a little bit about what this band is, where it comes from, you know, what it means to you, particularly with this new record? Yeah, I mean, this record was in the works for like three years or something when it finally came out and everything. I think the first couple of years were just us discovering the sound, finding the personality, the fit, the sound, and everything. Sam's been drumming for us since like the beginning, since the demo, since like the one man, black metal demo. And then Tweet came pretty soon after that, because we both went to school for classical music and all that kind of stuff. So I needed to hear strings in the music. I just couldn't. So she came along pretty early. Yeah, these songs just kind of came about of just like once we figured out a sound and like had an identity for like the lyrics, which obviously encompassed like an immigrant kind of lifestyle from Panama. So there's a lot of that like my sister's on the cover. My mom sampled in the tracks. Like there's Spanish sort of themes all over the record and everything like that. So it definitely felt like the best first statement for the band,

put that first record. That's awesome. You know, you didn't initially set out to do live recordings. And then, you know, how did that sort of come together? Because this is, you know, massive on top of the record. The record's beautiful, but then, you know, actually feeling this in this room with you guys. I, I, how, how did that sort of come about where you decided, you know, to pull the trigger and like let's, let's move into a live performance? Yeah, I wish it was, it was more conscious that it was. I think it was just, we played one show together. Like first show, we'll do it once, but this is going to be a studio project. I was at school at the time. I had done bands before and I was like, oh, let me just do this. I didn't think the sound could translate well live. And then I think, you know, we all come from DIY and everything. Eventually, like the live bug just gets you and you keep wanting to play and play and play. And I think, again, we've been doing this now almost five years as this group. Like in and out, I think the most recent iterations, like three years of this group. So I feel like now we finally dialed in like what the live sound is.

Because again, like you said, it's supposed to be grand. It's supposed to be like cinematic and overdramatic and all that kind of stuff. So yeah, it just kind of came about, I think I just, I love playing live. And once we figured out the sound that worked, it just was a no-brainer. Well, so a pain bloomed from my lungs was, you know, dropped in 2025. You've since put out another recording with a lot of songs from this. Do you want to talk about that a little bit? Because that's really exciting as well. Yeah, we did a live sort of version of it. Like, you know, I think that record took so long to put together, like logistically. I think by the time it came out, we already had different versions of the songs. Like not too different, but, you know, just little things here and there that you figure out when you're playing live. And then we were lucky enough to know Sonny from 8.56, who's an incredible, just live, like archivist almost. And he's been doing DIY filming since like, you know, 2010s. And how I discovered so many hardcore bands through him and everything like that. And he doesn't really do live setups and everything. So when we pitched the idea of doing it on a rooftop and lugging, you know, six by 10s and four by 12s up to the roof.

And doing it in Philly, like, he was down with it. And I think we just got really lucky with like, it's just one take. It's just all one take, hard attack. Kind of like the sunset and we're like, that's it. So we just wanted to put out a record that also represented like what we sounded like live. Because you know, we're all working class people. It's hard to do a world like a US tour and show everyone what it sounds like. So that was our best way to like, kind of translate that. Awesome. Awesome. Yeah, your tours have been a little bit here a little bit there. Yeah. Some of West Coast, some back in Philly. Yeah. You know, what have you sort of found from now playing live a lot more now that you've all come together and you've tweaked the songs and you've been working together more on this stuff? Are there new songs that you're adding in to the repertoire or are you altering some of these songs in ways you didn't think when you first conceived of them? I think now it's everyone's so dialed in and I mean, she can speak more to this. But it's more dialed in, but I think it was just figuring out like just something like what does this feel? I know it sounds so woo-woo, but it's just like, okay, does this part feel like what's supposed to feel like? Does it feel dramatic? Does it feel heavy?

And I think it's just we just become really tight as a group. And I think there's really nothing more to that. Just once we figured it out, it just clicked and it's been clicking for I feel like the last year. Awesome. What's next for you all? We are currently on tour. We're doing the West Coast for the first time. So that's great. I'm working very slowly on writing a new EP or album depends on how it comes back thematically. You know what I mean? Like it might turn into record, my turn to an EP. But I think right now we're just trying to like throw these songs out there, just play as much as we can. And then hopefully the new material so it can like represent the next kind of chapter. Awesome. Well, thank you so much for the insight into your live process, the record. What you guys got going out next. I'm so excited to hear anything from you. This is really a fantastic set. Lastima from Philadelphia. Thank you so much for coming in here. This is live on KXP. My name is Tanner. I've been your host here today on this very special performance. I want to thank our audio team, our video team, everybody that comes together to put these things together.
