Lethal Lovers: Gwen + Cathy

In 1987, five elderly women died at Alpine Manor, a nursing home in Walker, Michigan. Their deaths were ruled natural. No autopsies. No questions. Then, more than a year later, a man walked into a police station and repeated something his ex-wife had told him.

Cathy Wood and Gwendolyn Graham were nurse's aides at Alpine Manor who became lovers in 1986. According to Wood, the killings were a pact: a shared secret meant to bind them together "forever and a day." She claimed they tried to choose victims whose initials would spell out a word. There was no physical evidence. No confession on tape. Just Wood's story, a plea deal, and a trial that ended with Graham serving five life sentences while Wood walked free in 2020.

Now, in 2026, Graham says none of it happened and is asking Michigan's governor for a pardon.

We remember Mae Mason, Edith Cook, Marguerite Chambers, Myrtle Luce and Belle Burkhard.
