Base models compare based on manufacturers' websites. Yo, what's going on, Busset Open Nation. It's Aisertunnerd into another episode of the After Dark Podcast. Tonight, the OG of AD Uncle Bulley sits down with the founder of Birthright. Lexus King, and you're not going to believe what he has to say about Zilla Fod 2. Tune in right now to the After Dark Podcast. This is the Busset Open Podcast. Birthright with a big 6-man victory in the main event of NXT Tonight. Joining me right now is a guy that I only have a little bit of experience with, along the travels, had a chat with him here and there. Yada Yada, he is the son of Brian Pillman.
He is Lexus King. Lexus, welcome to Busset Open After Dark. I'm glad to be here, but Bill, you put me through a freaking table. You call that a little experience? That's a lot of experience. I was about enough of you that I needed in that time of my life, but yeah. We've definitely crossed paths. This is your just called me Billy. Bulley, right? Oh, accent. You called me Billy. So Billy, Paul, and you're an absolute horrible star. You busted! Exactly. Yes, before COVID, we had a match. I did put you through a table. I beat the hell out of you, but you would stood to beaten and you came back and I think somehow later on in the evening, you won a local independent wrestling championship that night, right? Yeah. It was a pretty good night for you, I think. Maybe something that Rob Dough told me off the table. Hey, it's all about getting the rub, brother. All about getting the rub. And you're doing pretty damn good. You got, I think we're seeing the best of you right now with birthright.
When you first came to NXT, I think you were doing okay. But now that you and birthright have gotten together, I mean, look at what happened tonight. Big six-man victory over over Zilla and Legacy and Prosper. Talk to me about birthright. Other than you guys and Ariana, obviously, having your dads in common, what else makes birthright such a strong unit to deal with in NXT? Well, I mean, you hit the nail on the head. It's our birthright. It's in our blood, but there's definitely more to it than that. You're right, economists especially. This kid came in here. You know, I had a little bit more notoriety coming in, working for other companies and stuff. He came in here and they put him to the grindstone. They didn't treat him like a second. He wouldn't have even known he was who he was because of how they treated him here. And they made him work and work and work. And that kid does nothing but put on his best matches and everything he can to do for this company just like I do.
But it comes to a point where this system here, this company, tries to change who you are. They try to make you forget that it's in your blood, that it is owed to you, that we deserve it because we do. They want us to be on an even playing field with everybody else. No, we already set up the chairs, okay? And that's the thing. He's paying his dues ten times over, going through the indies. I was on the indies for six years. I wrestled with many different companies. I finally came here when I felt like I was ready. And you know what they did? They took a guy that was competent and that knew who he was and they started getting in my head, making me second-guess myself. And that's what they're going to do to Zillafa too. He comes in here all who willy-nilly happy at your over-kit, wait till you're in this system. Wait till they break you down and you'll forget who you are. And I know exactly who Zillafa too is, right? Second generation wrestler lost his father at a young age. I know somebody just like that. I've walked in his shoes. And you definitely understand what it's like to be a talent like Zillafa too.
Listen, your dad was very successful in our industry. I'll never forget the day your dad stepped foot in the ECW, in the ECW arena, and had the entire place go crazy. I worked against Eddie Fattu, you know, Umaga. I was good friends with him. So like I get it that if anybody can understand Zilla, it's you. But it doesn't seem like Zilla wants any part of what you're saying or what the birthright is offering. Is Zillafa too in your mind a lost cause now? Or is he somebody that you will try to continue to pursue? Turning us down is the biggest mistake of his entire career. This place NXT is going to eat him alive. And then he won't even have anything that's left of him. They're going to strip him of everything that makes him unique. But we know because we've been through it. And somehow we stuck it out. And the reason we started coming together is because we said, why the hell are we not being exactly who we are?
We know who we are. These people don't know who we are. And we started showing up together. We started doing things together, asking to be booked together. This whole thing has been a vision of mine since I was working for other places. Let's put it that way. I've pitched a second generation faction for as long as I can remember. It's always been a dream and a vision of mine because I know what it's like to just have that feeling that this business owes you something. And all these guys, all their business does on all of you anything. Bullshit! It does. Because there's fricking the bumps in the miles. There's fricking blood in the game. I lost my father for this business. So I'm going to get and extract everything I can out of it. And Zilla thinks it's just going to be a walk in the park. I had a talk with Stone Cold Steve Austin before I ever got in the business. He said, I said Stone Cold Steve Austin. I kind of want to get into wrestling. Do you think my father would have proved like you knew who he was? Did he want his kids to wrestle? And he said, he said, son, he or daddy would want you to do whatever makes you happy.
And you know what I thought makes me happy? Making a ton of money and traveling in the world and being a damn star. But it isn't a fricking walk in the park. And the last thing Steve told me was it's a long way to the top if you'll want a rock and roll. And a lot of these second-gen kids, they're going to get into the habit. They're going to come in. We've seen it a little bit with Avery. Now Avery's a hard-working kid. Avery styles. I'll give it to him. But you know what? There's a little bit of that leverage. Yes. My dad did set up the chairs. But now you have double the expectations. And now you have to work twice as hard to get over the fucking extra. So it's a double-edged sword. But if he doesn't understand that, he doesn't run around this place with people like us who have lived it. I'm 33 years old. I'm a monk now. I'm in this PC. We got 23 through 26. You name it. I'm the vet now. I'm calling it in the ring. You're going to listen to me and we're going to go out there and have a great match. But we got a lot of young people in here. They think they know it all. They came from sports. It's out of the other. And that's the thing. Zill is a real guy. He came from the Indies.
He went to Booker Tees. He learned it the right way. But if he comes here, it starts messing around with these jocks and these wannabe wrestlers. These play wrestlers. He's just going to fit in with them. And he's going to get, you know what I mean? They're going to get in his head. And he's going to think, oh, I don't have to do this or do this. No, you need to get after it because everybody's expecting this much from you. I'm popping when you're telling me the Steve Austin story. So I have to ask you legitimately, Steve told you it's a long way to the top if you want a rock and roll. Those words came out of his mouth. Yeah. Because, you know, I probably could tell I didn't know what I was getting into. And I thought, oh, I'm just a second Jen. I can just hop right in. And he was like, no, like it's a fucking long road. Lexus, I have been saying that exact line since the day I stepped foot on this show 10 years ago. And I always compare pro wrestling to rock and roll. And I've always said, it's a long way to the top if you want a rock and roll in rock and roll and in pro wrestling.
And I'm friendly with Steve. And I never knew that he used that same terminology because it's so true. It's hard to make it to the top of this business. And you guys are carving and paving your own path right now. And I want to talk more about you guys and I want to talk about your dads. But let me ask you this about Zilla because I know he is despite the fact that you won tonight. You still made it a point to get in there and tell Zilla about you that you thought he was making the wrong decision. If everything that you're saying happens to Zilla where the machine starts to be. Where the machine starts to get to him and tries to change him and everything that you said happened to you and Charlie and your Raya and Ariana. If Zilla would have come back to you and say, hey guys, you were right. I want in.
Is the door open? I would say we're not right now. It's not you know, you're not going to say no straight to my face. Knock me out, hit me, beat up everybody. And then obviously we're going to come in there and beat you in the ring and then rub it in your face. So yeah, I mean, if he came back right now, but I would never in the future, I would never turn back on one of my own. To me, this is there's a connection that every second gen, third gen, fourth generation wrestler has. I don't know the way we were brought up, the way that we were raised or something we all have in common. And I would never turn my back on one of my own. Anybody in any company anywhere, if the any second generation wrestler wanted to be a part of birthright, it is literally their birthright. So many, so many young people, men and women have lost their parents' lives to this business or they lost the time that they could have been home with them, the injuries. How many guys can't go out and throw a baseball with their kids after putting 20 years into this business and maybe not even making it?
You know what I mean? So if you're the child or the son or daughter of a professional wrestler, you have every right to come into this business and take what belongs to you because your parents before you put the blood, sweat, and tears on the line for you. So you mentioned Avery's name, Avery's style's son of AJ Styles, who is currently wrestling in TNA. But TNA and NXT have a working relationship. We haven't exactly seen that working relationship crossover recently, but we know that there is a working relationship there and at any point it could be fired up once again. If you got a call or if Avery's style showed up one day in NXT ring and you said, yeah, you're right. And I'm next in line to be a part of your birthright. Is the door open for Avery's style at such a young age? Of course, I mean, have you seen the kid work? Of course. He's phenomenal. No pun intended.
He's a very talented young man. He's also very well spoken, very respectful, was raised by someone who I admire, someone who I look up to, a very respectful man, a very incredible performer. So the amount of discipline and the amount that it took AJ to get to that level, I guarantee that as much as he's around his kid, his kid has absorbed every bit of that. That kid shaked every hand in NXT. I don't know all these rumors about him not setting up the chairs. I think that's all bull crap. Now I will say when I was on the Andes, I wasn't setting up rings and stuff, but I had that ship on my shoulder. I thought people owed me something. I was a piece of shit. I was a bad indie second gen guy. I think people had sympathy for me because I lost my father so they gave me a little bit of a pass. They didn't go online and blast me. It's a little bit different. He's still on this earth with his father in a way he has to compete with him in a way. His father is still an intellectual property of this world that is using the name AJ Styles. He's kind of doing a lot of the same moves and offense and stuff.
But there's an old saying, it's not a saying, I guess, but it's in the book 48 Laws of Power by Robert Green. Law number 41 is be wary of following in a great man's shoes. It's often noted that the second coming of something is not nearly as good as the first. Unfortunately for Avery Styles, the best wrestler to ever have the last name styles is going to be AJ Styles. So what I would like to see, and you kind of see that with our group now, we've all got different names. We've all got our own identities. I know people want to see us get our names back and say the other, but it's the greatest thing for us. It allows us to completely step out and disregard the shadow of our parents. And I think of Avery came to birth right is going to come to NXT. He can carve his own identity, create his own name, develop his own finishes own offense. And he would be, I mean, he's incredibly talented. I've only seen a couple matches and I mean the kid blows me away every time. You know, Lexus, you brought up the shadows of your fathers, right? I, Nadi Knight Heart is a part of Busset Open. She, she does an hour every Thursday with Dave LaGrecca on the heartbeat.
And I once asked Nadi, I said, is it harder to be a heart, a Rhodes or a Flair? I mean, imagine those shadows. And you just said it's, it's so difficult. And like it's, the wrestling business is hard enough as it is. But then to try to get out of shadows like that, extremely difficult. And I'm sure you've experienced it on your own, you know, your dad, the loose cannon, Brian Pilman, who stirred up this industry no matter what company he was working in. And with Charlie, the son of William Regal, with Eureia, the son of Fit Finley, with Ariana, the daughter of Santino Morella, there are oral, you know, significant shadows there that have been cast. And you know, you brought Avery, I was just really curious if the door would be open or not. Coming up next, the surprises don't stop. Not only do I continue my chapter, Lexus King, but Eureia Conners and Stacks join Uncle Bulley on the After Dark podcast.

A run in happened during the break. We started off talking with Lexus King from birthright. And while we were in commercial,
Uriah Connors and Stax decided to just come into the studio. So welcome, Uriah. Welcome, Stax. Stax, I know you've been here before. Uriah first time on Busted Open or on After Dark. Hey, you guys doing. Hey, we're doing great. Coming off a fresh win straight out straight out the ring. The main event. It's been a great night. You know, thanks for letting us barge in here. So far Lexus being here by himself. You know, he needed some company. We want to celebrate a win together. We want to celebrate a win. He's been doing a pretty good job of putting all you guys over. So I will say that Uriah, like I said, this is your first time. You are the son of fit Finley. I have had the pleasure of being in the ring with your dad and getting stiff by your dad many, many times. And thank God he never stretched me into a pretzel.
I was asking Lexus earlier, but I would love to know your opinion about this other than what you guys have in common, your dad's and your blood, your lineage, your birthright. What makes birthright a big deal faction to deal with right now in NXT? We all have like a very similar mindset when it comes to the business and the way things work. You know, because we came up in it. We understand the unwritten rules and the laws and you know, how this thing works. And that's kind of what gives us a little bit of the upper hand with these athletes and these people who come in. This is different worlds today. This is swimming in deep waters and they don't know how to swim. We go to the bottom, come back up. It doesn't matter for us. This is our territory. When it comes to the ring, that's my property. That's like somebody walking into my house. And that's where we differ from the rest. There's nobody that compares. We lose a draw between both of the bells. We're untouchable.
So, Eureia, I was going to ask this question to Lexus, but I'm going to ask it to you. So, Lex, we don't have Brian Pilman around to ask advice to. But who we do have around is your dad fit thinly and we do have William Regal. As a matter of fact, we've seen fit and we've seen Regal on camera with you guys and with Ariana basically telling you, you guys need to get the job done and here's how you have to go about it. They've been great with giving you advice. Between the both of them, do you guys have one that's more go to than the other? Or somebody who's more in tune with wrestling today who could give you practical advice that works in the here and now for you in NXT? I would say both fit and Regal, they're amazing in their own right. But for me, I always go to fit. I mean, yes, he is my daddy, train me.
But he's just like anybody else. He started in 74. He went through so many different eras of wrestling and wrestled so many different kinds of people. He understands this on a way broader spectrum than most people that I've talked to. And still now, I've been learning from him my whole life. But even still now there's things that just blow my mind and stuff and he's around. So all of us, we go to him. I go to him before the match, after the match. I'll watch it back with him. So he's my go to guy for everything, for sure. He legally adopted me. He legally adopted me recently. We got the paperwork is in the mail for Stax as well. We have to get him some legitimacy. I love to fight. So let me ask you guys this and anybody can answer. It would be very easy for Ariana to kind of get lost in the shuffle. What does Ariana bring to the group?
Well, first of all, let me slide in. That she's beautiful and that's that's one reason that you know, just her being out there motivates at least me. Do I see the group want to add there? I think Ariana Grace is an incredibly talented performer. I think that she is someone that in wrestling, we tend to admire people that sort of live their gimmick and they're always on and they're always in character. Besides makeup and hair, I feel like you could grab Ariana at any hour of the day and film and do things and create content. She's just always Ariana. If that makes sense, there is no secret. There's no secrecy. There's no gimmick. She is 100% who she is and that is a very entertaining and good looking woman. I can't go too far there. I just got engaged. You know, I might fiance. Emma Diaz, you know, but I know I think Ariana is very talented and how versatile she is and as of recent and her matches, she's definitely shown that she has an inner blood as we all do.
At the end of the day, it's world wrestling entertainment, keyword entertainment. And I have told Ariana to her face in the back and I have told her on the show. She is extremely entertaining, but look at the bird, the bloodline she comes from Santina Morella who is one of the most entertaining mother truckers in the history of of this industry. Eureia, what is the vision, so to speak, for birthright, not only in NXT, but potentially one day if you all get called up together? For right now, definitely, you know, me and Stacks are on this tag team title journey here. We are fighting, scratching, clawing our way up this tag division. We got the dusty classic here. We got our first round next week, so we're definitely going through. We're hoping to win the whole thing. So, you know, me and Stacks are very, very focused on that right now because, you know, I don't think without us to, there would be a dusty classic. I don't think, you know, people really appreciate the caliber that we wrestle at and the matches that we've been putting on the past few months here.
So, you know, the future, you know, I love to talk about the future. If we got called up there, it'd be awesome. I think we would kill it, but I think for me personally, I like to focus on the right now and like the things ahead of me because if I get too far, you know, I lose track of all that, but, you know, me and him have been rocking and rolling. We're fresh off of the win tonight. We're going to be fresh off another win next week, so that's how I feel about that Stacks. And if I could add to that, Bully, I think it goes, it goes even beyond TV, like this, me and him have been doing every live event, every coconut with the hardest working, the most work tag team in all of NXT. And we've been having some of the best matches every week, every night, tearing it up when people said the crowd was bad. We would go out there and just show them differently. And we've shown that every time and we believe in our skills. Listen, I've had a lot of tag team partners in my day. I've worked with the dad. I've worked with other guys in the family. This is the best tag team partner I've had.
Me and him, our brains are connected. We are flowing. We are like, in and yang, and it's working. And I think this is, if there is a time in my career where I'm having the most fun, where we're jelling together, where I feel like we are a tag team that is at the caliber of any kind. And it's at the caliber of any tag team in the world, not just in NXT anywhere, it's right now me and your eye corners. So Stax, let me keep it with you. You brought up the family and you were part of Tony D's family back in the day. But this birthright thing is completely different. This is about the camaraderie of the bloodline. So to speak that you all share what feels more like a family to you, Stax. What you did in the past or what you're doing right now with birthright. Yeah, I'll say this. Tony was all for himself. He was the dawn. He was looking after himself. Everything that he did was with his career in mind with his, you know, him getting the NXT title opportunities with him. Even when we were tag champs, it was about his, what was next for Tony D.
This is a group that's thinking about each other. Look at this guy loves to talk. He didn't have to hand this headset away. He did because he's a guy who sees the group who wants everybody to succeed. And that's what this group's about. Every one of us want to carry and pick each other up. And that's what we got right now. That's what's going to make this money. So I'm going to ask Stax and I'm going to ask you right. Earlier Lexus talked about how the birthright was a vision of his for a while now, even when he wrestled in other places before he got to NXT. Is Lexus King the leader of birthright? Listen. This is a guy. Wait a minute. That's a fair word. Give the headsets back to Lexus for a second. I think that is a very fair word. I wasn't trying to set you guys up. But what I am looking for is some brutal honesty. Founder is a great word because that's an honest word.
I think I think founder was really hit the nail on the head there. He is the founder. But at the end of the day, we have a different vision in mind. The people standing in front of you right now. We are the last of a dime breed, the last of the boys. We're the last that you're going to see in a long time. This business in this industry is coursing through our veins. This is a brotherhood. He is the founder, but we are all collectively moving forward together as a unit. We all bring something different to the table. Everybody has their own peaks and valleys here and it all meshes well together and creates a smooth surface. It's a well-ored machine. He is the founder. He is the guy who brought us all together and went out and searched and went out and saved me from university. You chase you. Another tag team that I had. Here we are. It's still a climb. We're going to climb to mountain. We will be the mountain. I don't mean this in a disrespectful way, but you just said really got my attention because I don't even remember you being a part of chase you. But I know damn well that you're part of birthright.
It was it until you said that I would have even had an inkling that you were part of that deal. But now that you're a part of this deal, it's like you force me to sit up and take notice. Lexis, you talked earlier about the machine holding you down and sometimes not giving you what you feel you may have deserved because of your last names, your lineage, or what you may have earned. When it's time for you to stand up to a rob a GM Robert Stone or when it's time for you to possibly stand up to one of the biggest troublemakers in the history of the WWE in Sean Michaels. Is it all for one and one for do you all go into the office together or does one go in representing all? Funny you would bring that up because we have already done it and we did it as a group of five, we even FaceTime Charlie. I told Sean I said, hey, we need a meet and it's going to be with all of us. And we walked into his office and he told us he had 15 minutes and we took about an hour and a half because we had some things to say.
And that comes down to you know just what we're trying to do we see what's lacking and we know that we're the cure we know that we're the answer we know what Sean wants we've been here long enough. This kid I'm the last podcast I called him the quarterback because that's what he is if you're trying to build a division or a football team you need a quarterback. You need a last time I was on the damn radio I called him the quarterback because if I'm the if I'm the manager if I'm the founder I need to I need a really good quarterback I need somebody that can do it in the ring and they can do it in their sleep and they can do it three times backwards. And when these two get together they come up with algorithms and routes and things and tags and I'm like I'm just in it you know what I mean I'm just like you fucking you got it like they they got it down pat and I know that they're exactly what Sean's looking for. And I know that my strengths are other things that Sean needs to but I know that I'm putting a roster together that checks every single box and he even told us he said I would love to book you guys on every segment but we can't do that because other people work here right.
We've gone on these road loops when we tour we're always on the road we're on the bus and every night every show multiple segments birthright this birthright that birthright to close the show he'll have a singles it'll spill out there'll be some rolling now we have a tag I'll come out and have a speed match and a promo are you on a will have a match is because we carry NXT on our backs but it's not heavy for us because we were born to do it we're not complaining about it. We love it we're always on the road we're always taking crazy bumps putting people over we never complain and that's why we're going to get forward because they can't say nothing to us they have nothing on us we do everything we're asked and then we take a little bit more off the bone as well. I love the fact that you brought up that you don't complain and you do what you need to do because I don't think this is a stretch by me saying if you did bitch moan and complain fit and regal would be the first ones to get on you guys for it.
