About this episode

“As you celebrate the game, take a deeper look at its roots. The people grow in the grass, they've in the lots, weld in the goalposts, inspecting every football. The hardworking people that make every Sunday possible.”From the transcript

It’s Episode 85—or as Chad himself would call it, the Ochocinco show. NFL analyst Ross Tucker stops by to explain why Chad Johnson is criminally underappreciated, while also breaking down why Matthew Stafford deserves way more respect. Then, Tony Calatayud explains why Brock Purdy has been an absolute nightmare for opposing defenses since day one. Plus, we break down a high-stakes week for LA: the Chargers desperately need a win, and the Rams need to put an end to a painful era. Finally, we head south to Brazil, where the Ravens and Cowboys better check their footwear before stepping onto the wildly questionable turf at the Maracanã. Learn more about your ad choices. Now we've got Ross Tucker coming up in a sec. We've got Buddy Badawski coming at us from where are you buddy dressed like a Florida goon. I am in Baltimore. Yeah, I'm in Baltimore. Patiently waiting to see whether I'm actually going to be able to go to a game at Fenway Park this weekend because there's something called a Norr Easter which sounds like a bunch of just wind and rain. A lot of people getting up in arms about it. So we'll see. You should go to Boston if you want to. Yeah, that's that's the plan. Camping yards last night. Nats Park Friday. Hopefully may be possibly Fenway Park Sunday Saturday or Sunday. We'll see. Okay, we've got Gino and Danny B behind the glass in Miami and there in studio B in the Levitard studios. Me Caballo Tony is ready to go. Fellas. Let's jump into it, shall we? Winter stand games. If you can only watch three pro football games on Sunday. These are those. Let's start it off at number three.

The third most meaningful game of the weekend by my estimation. Chargers bills home team bills. People say for whatever ails that new stadium. Apparently it's very, very loud. The total on this game at the time of this recording is 50 and a half. I'm going to go. Chargers 27 to 26 with the upset week three by my estimation is the weirdest results week on the NFL schedule. I'm going to go back through it. If you don't believe me, you will see with some weird outcomes to games like, wait, what? That team beat that team. That what and week three Buffalo's past defense as good as the offense has been the past defense has been down right bad 27th in EPA. The chargers committed in the offseason or when they hired Jim Harbaugh to run, run, run the ball. They are not good at running the ball though. I mean, despite some borderline fluke stuff with Herbert picks so far, he's already had three picks and he's not a pick machine generally over the course of his season.

He's had some bad luck in that area. I think they're going to be able to throw the ball on him. Next up, me, Kobayotoni, how say you in this game? I actually don't hate the pick. I'm going to take the bills to win, but I like the chargers to cover here. And it feels like if they're offensive chargers, if they can't do it against the bills who have quietly, I know they're winning, but have quietly been shredded by the Texans. And the Lions in that second half, like if there's a get right spot for this chargers offense, here it is. I don't think they're going to win because I think Josh Allen still has a little bit too much magic to pull out of a hat, but this is it. Like the defenses get much harder after this bills game. Can I tell you something? I think it is sort of a there's nothing I hate more. The lame is factoid is like whoever wins the turnover battle. I hate when people say that. No shit. But this one specifically, which one is going to, you know, regress to the mean or whatever, right, right? Is right for this is Justin Herbert going to stop throwing interceptions, which he never does.

Or are the bills going to start intercepting passage, which they haven't so far this season, whichever one wins that wins this game. Buddy, how say you? Yeah, I'm going to go bills in a blow out here, actually. I just don't like the I don't see this as a get right spot for the chargers, like their get right games were the Cardinals and the Raiders at home, both of those teams, and they lost both of them. I think that trend is just going to continue. I'm going to take the bills 38 to 17 here. I think this one gets ugly. Geno, you're final. See for the chargers to to beat the bills after losing to the Cardinals and the Raiders would be the most chargers thing ever. It just it would. I don't think it's going to happen though. I think their offense is going to find its footing here because, you know, we've already mentioned the Buffalo's defense. Not that good, but Josh Allen is on something this year. He's got that look in his eye. If you know, that's a big cliche, but he looks like he's not being checked by anyone. None of his coaches. He doesn't have anyone in his year telling him, maybe we should be more conservative here.

All gas all the time. I'm going to say 35 21 bills. Hey, as far as that goes me, Cabayo, if Josh Allen, who I think is everybody's MVP, although I've heard a little bit of buzz for one Brock party. What are you seeing from Brock, pretty so far in what I think a lot of people, myself included were like the Niners are great, but you know, the pieces outside of receiver are not overturning. And so what is going to freshen the situation in San Francisco and Brock, pretty appears to be playing at another level. And maybe that's the extra gear that is elevating this team so far. It's exactly that, right? Like we look at what they have, which is kind of an old wrong side of 30 running back in CMC, whose dynamic, of course, we have an old wrong side of 30 injury prone, wide receiver. You have a tight end, whose great, but just came off in a kill history. You have another wide receiver that was promising. He's out with an ankle injury. You bring an old debil Sam, you'll back to join the gang. You have a Demarcus Robinson, another guy who's just kind of a journeyman. He gets heard. Now he's gone.

But yet San Francisco's two and no. And also Brock, pretty playing the best quarterback out of basically anybody not named Josh Allen. I'm going to read you a couple of stats here. Just off the top. Since 2023. Brock, pretty ranks first in yards per pass attempt. First and success rate, first in EPA per dropback, first in EPA per play, second and adjusted net yards per attempt. Like he's quietly been one of the most elite quarterbacks that we've had in the league. And I'm tired of people of making this thing. Like Brock, pretty is a make a wish kid that all of a sudden stumbled into Shanahann's office. Like, hey, I'm here to play. And Shanahann's like, all right. Yeah, screw it. Like we'll put you in and let's see how you do. It's like, no, no, he is a legitimate quarterback. One, he's right now playing probably second best in the league. He should be garnering envy p votes, especially with what they have around him, which is basically nothing. And we're looking at a guy who if Dave, if this guy with exactly what I just mentioned for the last two or three years of offensive productivity.

If this guy was picked in the first round, how high would we be singing the praises of Brock, pretty elite what I completely agree with everything you said, except for the fact that the reason why is because we can't get away from the visuals. He look at Brock, and that face ain't doing a many favor either. He'd be one thing like if he had a giant nose or something or like, you know, a big beard, evidence of being able to grow facial hair. And then you look on the other than Josh Allen, that looks like a quarterback Lamar Jackson. That looks like a quarterback. Yeah, when he stands alongside of his contemporaries, he don't look like no QB, but your point is well taken. All right. On the number two Sunday night football game, the Rams coming off of an impressive win. I know Jackson dark got hurt early, but the defense did look good. With Aaron Donald, who specifically look pretty good there. There a mile high to play the Broncos, the home team Denver plus two and a half total 45 and a half. I've got the Rams going in there and taking this one 23 to 20 Denver's defense is formidable on a piece of paper, but the Rams so far. I know it's only been 120 minutes, but remember, they didn't look especially great against the giants in the opener, but nevertheless,

they, I mean, I'm sorry. Let me do that again. I confuse my two teams. Denver's defense may be formidable, but the Rams have been way more efficient overall. I saw, I mean, you know, it's only been 120 games, but do keep in mind that they had the stinker in Melbourne and in spite of that, they're performing play to play much better than Denver has the weird thing is Denver for all the hype deserved around the game. So far, they've been run on and now the Rams are going in there with that with the three tight end the 13 personnel that not many teams have shown an ability to stop the bad match up there. I got the Rams like I say by three on the road. How say you buddy? Yeah, I'm going to take the Rams as well, Dave, and you mentioned the running game and how effective it's been. They did all of that on Monday night without Pukin, and it doesn't seem like Pukin, and it's going to play again. I'm not, you know, what I'm trying to say here is that there are offense can sustain without Nekuah, right? And if he's not in there, they're going to have to run the ball again and then they will be effective with Kyron Williams with Blake.

How about that call, buddy, by JB Long, play by play guy for the Rams came a few hours before the game nailed it, be where be where Terence Ferguson and Terence Ferguson has a nice game. I think it five catches got in the end zone and all that. So so well done, JB Long. I'm sorry to interrupt your buddy. No, all good. Yeah, I think they ride that kind of like 13 personnel. That seems to be the new thing, the the counter to the two high safety epidemic that we're seeing in the NFL right now is this spreading of the 13 personnel. I think the Rams ride it all the way to a 28 20 victory in mile high. Nekuah bio. I'm going to go against the trend here. I'm going to take the Broncos at home. I think people are starting to overvalue the Rams. Let's be honest, there are number one quarterback who is playing best in the league for EPA purposes and a couple different stats. Jackson, dark gets hurt. All of a sudden you bring in James Winston off the couch and like, yeah, they won going away. But realistically, if the Giants had all their guys, it would have been a much closer game. And I'd be interested to see if the Devonte Adams thing.

If they would have gone back to that well, being a tighter game and ran more 13 and Ramblake Corm and Rankyron William. So with a tougher defense and the offense, finding their footing in the last game via the Broncos, Jalen Waddle had 138 yards, which was a breath of fresh air. I think for them, because they were looking around with all the weapons that they have. And they're like, all right, somebody's got to step up here. Right. Like Pat Bryant isn't the answer. Right. Courtland Sutton is not going to get us to a Super Bowl. But Jalen Waddle might if he can run those routes and bonanza. They can connect with them. So I'm going to take, I'm going to take the Broncos 2417 in my Ohio. I think they're able to put the clamps on Stafford. I think I don't know if the Von Teyadams can do it twice. If Pooca's out, it's going to be a lot of running. But if you get down, you're going to have to bend in that really quick and start throwing the ball. By the way, about James, I loved our guy, Nick Costos' line about that. They're going to play a social media influencer. That's a weird move. Geno quickly.

Real quick fantasy football question, guys. Have you ever seen a top five wide receiver whose handcuff is a tight end? Because Terence Ferguson, every time the Pooca goes out, I have a feeling it's going to be right at the end of the line in that 13 personnel. And he can put up wide receiver numbers as you see. He looks very athletic for a tight end. I'm going to say they win it 20 to 17 because I think it's going to be more of a ground in pound game from both teams. And like I said, last week, the Broncos are going to have a big problem that Jackson will run on them. Jackson will didn't win, but they ran on them. So watch the Rams do it again with two running backs this time. All right, let's get the number one here and travel down the South America, Rio, Brazil to be exact. Mara canna. Mara canna. Right? Mara canna. Mara canna. There it is. Mara canna. Mara canna. Oh, yeah, listen, you're a Jew, buddy. You know, you tell me, oh, yeah, you nail looking for Geno's validation. Me, caballos. Not not not not yours. All right, Ravens America's a legend team Dallas Cowboys plus three no home advantage, although I do bet their way more Cowboys fans.

And there are Baltimore fans down in South America, just because of inertia 52 and a half is the total. I got the Cowboys winning this one. 30 to 28, DAC. It I think what a lot of people say is the Cowboys have a mediocre to poor defense. The Ravens defense hasn't been great so far. And I do think mentor ultimately turns that around in the here and now. DAC is I do suspect shoot out. And I think that's what the Cowboys probably aspire to here. And the edge is is that DAC and the offense has been way more efficient specifically on third down in Baltimore has. So if it does get into a shoot out possession for possession, kind of who scores last kind of thing that favors Dallas. I don't know if you guys have gotten a look at the turf over there. I'm not good, but it's bad. And I can think of a lot of names for on offense for the Cowboys and for the Ravens, but I can't think of a lot of defensive players for either team.

I think the defensive players are going to have a hard time keeping their footing, trying to keep up with with all the playmakers on both sides of the ball with pick ins with even Javante Williams. If he's got the ball and you don't know where he's going. He's going to be hard to corral him. So I can see this one being a shootout. I'm going to go 34 30 here. Cowboys over Ravens because I think the Ravens it doesn't sound like they're going to have to say flowers in this game. And I think what showed up in the last game was their lack of playmakers for Lamar Jackson against the San sink. Derek Henry is going to do his best to try and keep it in the game. Lamar Jackson might run a little bit more, but I don't think it's going to be enough. I like that take there. Buddy, you're next. Yeah, that's a flowers injury is going to be big for the Ravens here. I agree. Dave R score was actually one point off each way. I'm going to go with the Cowboys 31 to 27 in a shootout. You know who's already seen the Monica not pitch is Steven a Smith because he's down there like four days early getting fired up to hate on the Cowboys, which I think is very exciting stuff Tony. Lin and shirt Copa Cabana Beach and the show to sandals with a nice on lit cigar Steven a Smith walking around what a vision what a site to be a whole day.

Everybody's been talking blow excuse me shoot out. I don't know. I don't know. This one has the the the makings of 24 20 something low scoring. I feel like it's going to be a big Derek Henry game just because the Cowboys can get run on. And also Lamar Jackson probably a good rushing over for me. Jaden Daniels at 69 yards in the first half before he messed up as elbow again and it seemed like there was nothing that the that the Cowboys could do to stop him when the play broke down of him getting out of the pocket and be like, all right linebackers aren't fast enough. Safety are playing way too back corners are not there like let me go expose that and I feel like Lamar there's been a lot of game film that I'm sure that the Ravens and Declan dole of watching like all right design cubie runs out of the pocket stuff like let's get these guys moving and move the pocket around. On the offensive side for for Dallas. I want to stay away from my husband's I think he's one of the best corners in the league and I feel like they're going to be kind of eyeing him with CD lamb who just had a massive game so I wouldn't be surprised if we finally see the George Pickens game of a hundred and a score just because there's going to be a lot of focus on on on CD.

I think it's going to be a little scoring I have Dallas Dallas 24 Ravens 21. Interesting interesting thoughts on that game and I have my big takeaway is Geno's note on the quality of the field and how that helps the offense. I'm good thought on that one now we've just gone through rugged games ones that are tough to call here so now fellows were looking for the team or teams who we reckon will have the breeziest Sunday. If no one else it helps out anyone and everyone in a survivor pool but anyone who just wants to enjoy yet another blowout it's time for stress free Sunday delivered by little ceasers the official pizza sponsor of the NFL right now score two faves just for you. I don't know if you could hear my stomach growling it legitimately is and the mic might pick it up it's so loud. So this is the cure for that two faves just for you Detroit style slices in sticks for just $4.99. Only at little ceasers officially delicious and I know the spirit of this is is to take the bum teams or more accurately taking whoever the bum team is out there.

I'm going to call one that I think people that that looks on a piece of paper like a narrower affair that I think will be a decisive victory. I've got the Jacksonville Jaguars taking care of business against Drake May and the Patriots Jags by the number only laying three at home 45 and a half. I suspect that that is because the Jags just went over to a mile high against a good team and lost that one and the Patriots got right and shut out the Steelers forget about that week to week league. I think the Jags smoke them real good. I'm going to take the 49ers over the Cardinals so we talked about it. I just think QB play is great for the Niners and I feel like Shanahan's in his offensive bag. I'd like McCaffrey getting getting active like he did against the against the dolphins and it feels like the Cardinals have given up all hope offensively on Marvin Harrison Jr. Which is kind of a sad story. It's it's over like you look at his target share versus the likes of like even Kendrick born and it's like yikes like we we are nowhere close to what he was drafted on plus Cardinals banged up in the secondary.

So I'm going to take the the Niners. Yeah, I'm going to go you talked about picking against bum teams. I'm going to pick against the team. We all thought was going to be a bum team. That is 2 and 0 so far. Give me the Saints minus 3 against the Raiders. I see the Raiders coming back down to earth a little bit in this game and I really like what the Saints are putting out there so far. They went into Baltimore last week and beat them went into Detroit nearly beat them in week one coming back home to the Super Dome for the first time this year. Give me the Saints at home with Tyler Schuck. I you when you were talking about a favorite and undefeated I thought you might be going with the Rebs from Ole Miss and all your Gators. Oh, absolutely. Oh, let's see who's playing the dolphins this week. Now to go now. Kansas City. Kansas City's playing the dolphins this week and what's 11 and a half spread not enough Kansas City. Be comfortable. Warg your pizza. Yeah, work last time. Alright, we still have more picks picks and more picks for you plus some thoughts on Caleb Williams and specifically I have to address the southeastern region of football America.

But right now let's talk to our power us Tucker. Shall we? You might be able to guess it by looking at me. I'm not a huge gym guy. So I was pretty hesitant about creating but I learned that it isn't just for workouts. It actually helps you throughout the entire day. It's really not just when you're at the gym and boy has it ever helped me since taking it. I've noticed an increase in strength power recovery and even cognitive performance which we could all use a little more of. And I know what you're thinking Dave you could use a lot more of it but that's not your business. And if you're going to take creatine every day why not make sure it's the best but Dave how do I know which creatine is the best while I'm about to tell you. And I know that the best brands compete on flavors and marketing instead of what actually matters making the creatine itself better. But at moment this they're working on what you put in your body and that's why they created signature spec creatine their most advanced creatine ever setting a new standard for quality. Momentous creatine delivers 10 times fewer impurities 2 to 5 times tighter heavy metal limits and full PFAS and microplastic screening.

It's Ross Tucker what's the poop fella how you've been congratulations on the great work so far and the great reviews that you've been getting. Oh thanks man I really appreciate that it's been a blast so far really fun to do all these games that so many people are watching and all the text messages and social media stuff I get after the game has been cool and I will say this. And hopefully your listeners will appreciate this I think they will you were one of the OGs you I don't know 10 years ago you know listen to me on the radio calling games and you said man you are really good I was just I was driving listening on Thursday football and you are really good and then doing TV NFL last few years you mentioned a couple times and so listen I I am non-denominational okay I like when anybody.

Tells me how great I am or how much they enjoy it but when it's people that I know watch a lot of football and are really into it and also people that I know well enough to know they wouldn't say that unless they mean it. It means a lot Dan Levitard or Ryan Rusillo somebody sent me something he said Greg Rosenthal yourself you know it's it's really cool that you guys that consume all kinds of football. All kinds of broadcasters like what I bring to the table I think my friends and family would probably tell you that God made me just barely good enough at football so I could I could get these broadcasting gigs. Man I remember when I first met you through our pal handsome Hank he's the OG who said oh you got I think you'll you'll get along famously with Ross Tucker. I remember when people would say like Ross Tucker like he has a career as an analyst like he wasn't that good I mean I don't mean to offend you retro act no no no hi profile football players that were gatekeeping like well he wasn't good enough to be talking about football other people which then begs the question why is Dave getting to talk to anybody about.

But I mean now you've come through clean on the other side and and sincerely my experience one of the first with you being sort of down on the field guy on a radio practice I was driving around and you were doing a college game of memory serves and I was like who is this guy he's fantastic man he's funny but he's insightful within within the same 20 seconds and that he's getting from the play by play booth and everything else and I was like wait a second. Is that Ross Tucker wow so I did come by it honestly I was impressed by you not realizing it was you until I did realize it was you and then I was happy that it was you because you were great and for anybody out there within the sound of my voice who aspires to do something like Ross Tucker does man you can't replace hustle he has hustled he all the games and army that you went to gone to over the years and otherwise all the preseason football has resulted in you being I agree with levitard and maybe I'm biased as well as you can see that I'm not going to be a good guy. It's good as it gets up in that booth but all right enough enough you know whatever you would refer to what word you would use to what I'm doing to you right now instead let's talk about football.

First first thing is you know how because it's our 85th episode and so Ocho Sinko is on the mind you know how they're comedians comedians people comedians who are more popular with other comedians than with the general public I feel like after many conversations with many football players of your area and Ocho Sinko's area I've come away with the sense that Ocho is way more respected I don't mean as a personality I mean as a football player by his peers than the general public seems to understand. First of all is that right about Ocho and can you give me one two three other names that would fit that description. By the way I love the idea of having a jumping off point for every episode based on the number of the episode I don't know what happens when you get into the hundred that's going to make it a little bit more difficult but to have to have Ocho Sinko be the jump off point interestingly.

I got a quick Ocho Sinko story the coldest game I ever played in was also a top 10 coldest game in Buffalo Bill's history ironically it was in Cincinnati which I didn't really since not he got that cold but of course they have the famous Dan Fowl's Chargers game we know that and I went out before the game it was like negative windshield or whatever with just a t-shirt on and the only time they ever spoke to me. Ocho Sinko yelled across the field hey buddy you're going to get cold you better go put sleeves on but I was okay although interestingly by the way so frostbitten the skin so cold that you could not physically take a hot shower after the game you had to start with like a tepid shower and then transition to lukewarm and then get to warm otherwise your skin would sting that hard the Ocho Sinko point you make is interesting because that's how and by the way that's how Ross Tucker got to star in the upcoming film clay face everybody that the results speak for themselves there.

So the the antics of Ocho Sinko sort of overshadowed just how smooth he was just how good of a route runner he was very very special in that regard there's a few guys that come to mind right now for sure. I assume they're offensive lineman right well no I know that I completely know I'm a general lineman but I'll give you others and a couple you know and interestingly of all places two of them are quarterbacks that live where you live in Los Angeles when you talk to it's interesting when you talk to players coaches to a little lesser extent but players the adoration they have for Matthew Stafford is really is really interesting because I don't know that I would have expected that but they talk about Matthew Stafford like quarterbacks 20 years ago talked about Dan Marino and what I've come to the conclusion is when you were a young quarterback and you were watching Dan Marino in the 80s and 90s just the way he could flick his wrist and the ball was just beautiful you just thought that's how I want to throw a football that sort of the staffer thing that I want to throw

the staffer thing for the young quarterbacks like if you ask like Caleb Williams or you ask like quarterbacks in college they'll say Stafford I think guys like that are just that enamored with the in a ability to throw a football then you have the Herbert component which I think might be more coaches that just love that a guy can be that big that fast that fast that smart that all of the things right and everybody's just like I want to get my hands on this guy I mean he's everything interestingly might make the annual could have gone a lot of places he picked the chargers because like every coach he thought the best mold of clay in the NFL is Justin Herbert he's got the most traits that you would want that are desirous in a quarterback and they've been terrible the first two weeks now listen long season we'll see what changes but that part of it's interesting I'll give you two others now these are linemen one is an offensive lineman one is a defensive lineman

this is actually a fun game I'll let you guess check one to lineman one to D lineman take a guess see if you can get either one of them I mean in the history of people I know no no playing right now current players I mean I wouldn't even know where to begin I want I want to cut to the chase because let's do it sitting here throwing out rando names at you offensive line it's Lane Johnson I don't know if you talk to offensive lineman wild for him you're right you're his peers revere him because I think most people don't understand most people still think left tack was more important than right tackle that's not really the case and then secondly his peers realize the degree of difficulty of what he's been asked to do which is just pure one on one past protection 30 snaps again is much harder than what's asked of a lot of guys at that position so the peers see that and he very rarely gives up anything and then this one really bugs me because this guy actually has the stats and people still don't know it if I went down the street right now and said give me the five best defensive tackles in the NFL they would be like uh Aaron Donald cam Hayward nobody would say Zach Allen for the Denver Broncos the dude has led the NFL

in quarterback hits back to back years he gets double teamed all the time the only other guys to do that by the way are the what brothers to lead the NFL in quarterback hits back to back he gets double all the time he is like a machine and yet I don't know it's because Zach Allen's not that unique of a name but like I like to know who he is like if I went to people they don't even know what team he plays for and he's the best he tackled the NFL he's sort of the opposite of you Zach Allen is two first names you have two last names maybe to together you could figure something out there yeah you're absolutely right about him and you know with with Stafford that brings up another question that I love turning to informed people like you to ask this you get to have your pick would you rather have because Justin Herbert as you talk about as a specimen would you rather have and then there's Brock Purdy who clearly benefits from being aligned with with Kyle Shanahan I don't think Brock Purdy could go elsewhere and thrive on on the same level

would you rather have any coach of your choosing for the next 20 years or any quarterback right now but he's in his prime for the next 10 years 4 10 years I would go quarterback it's a great question but 20 years in the NFL is like I mean I'm not you know what interestingly if you have the perspective of an owner you basically have to have an owner's perspective here and I can see people making the argument for McVeigh or Shanahan or whoever you want but I think if you look at what these guys get paid I think that's a pretty good indicator that most reasonable people still believe quarterback is by far the most ingredient to winning and if I can get a guy in his prime for 10 years but there in lies the rub who is like the 20

pushback you know Matthew Stafford always was a specimen but he didn't come anywhere close to doing anything in January until he got with with a good coach right that's fair but I don't know he still had a lot of good years in Detroit and they were terrible and he still found a way to get them to play offs a few times like if I could have anybody in the NFL I think I would take Josh Allen and maybe that's just because I selfishly love watching that dude play I have no idea how he's that durable I mean the amount of touchdowns he produces the interesting thing though is with his style what's he like in six seven years from now I think he's 30 now so I think the interesting aspect of what you're saying is like okay let's say I go quarterback okay is there a 25 year old or 26 year old that I absolutely love and feel great about for the next 10 years I kind of have to go through the list in my mind because I'm not like who nobody's popping my head right now I was like clearly the guy

yes sustainably right playing that physical as I have said forever if Cam Newton and Ben Rothisberger had a baby it would be Josh Allen Oh I love that if Josh Allen wins one Lombardi is he then does he vault himself into top five Super Bowl Eric quarterbacks top three maybe people put Marino in it people put Rogers in there people had Peyton in there when he had the one and then he you know was a passenger for a Super Bowl 50 but I mean would that be fair to say that about Josh Allen I think he's got to have more postseason success and look he's midway through his career let's see how the second half of it goes let's see what he's able to accomplish you get to top three top five it's like I saw someone the other day evidently said staffers at top five quarterback that that's tough and listen I love Matthew Stafford and MVP last year super impressive but it's like any of these lists you know if you actually sit down start writing it down it's like really you're

taking him over Montana or you're taking you're taking him over this guy like no you're not no you're not well that's a levitars point ackman and otherwise people fall into that high perberally we happen to be looking at the most talented young man at the position in the sport yet till next week when you're looking at another high in talent and you'll make the same without any context this is the most talented guy we're looking at that's right you have make the list and then see where where your guy slots and all right in the time we have remaining one of those guys who's certainly in the top 10 is Aaron Rogers his team has gotten out of the gates rapidly the Cincinnati Bengals who by the way I said in the preseason were would would wind up playing in so far on Valentine's Day and are looking good as far as that goes you're on your way to the banks of the three rivers to call this game by the way it's the banks of the three rivers the confluence of you know in the Alleghenium and Mananga Hala converge they form the Ohio I've long said that I don't know why Ohio gets credit for it it's a bum state it's only

impressive thing is that it claims the Ohio River but it for its forge in Pittsburgh it should be the mean Joe River or the Lemieux River. You can say confluence during the three hours but can we get you to say like I really think it should be called the mean Joe River tell I and that and see how you think see if we can squeeze that in in the three hour call you can do that he'll take you 10 seconds how say you. Yeah no that's not happening. What's the great you'll get a nice laugh from I and he'll make you feel good you can say it was your joke I don't care you're the third person in the last week that's like asked me to say something during the game nobody asked me to say stuff during the game when I was doing the lower level games. Yeah but I was good but you heard the top of this interview I was kissing your ass I think that deserves a little repay right. Yeah maybe I'll say something that you said but not I'm not calling it the mean Joe River. I don't even have to name check me I want you to do well. I like marino river my payment the marino river yeah okay that sounds like a river.

It sounds like a river down here saying a Tony over something. All right very quickly you know Bengals roll in the line of scrimmage is strong whichever side you're talking about there tell me why the Pittsburgh Steelers might emerge victorious in this game give everybody in Pittsburgh a ray of sunshine here. Yeah because it's a week to week league in the NFL I know that's a cliche but four teams that lost by over 20 points in week one came back to win in week two and everyone always wants to act like the sky is falling after a bad performance. What happened in week two has nothing to do with what will happen in this game and with the Steelers defense being this opportunistic and playing this well and by the way the Bengals offense isn't exactly firing on all cylinders. I do think 20 to 17 17 16 is within the realm of possibility does it mean that the Steelers force a couple turnovers again yes but that's entirely possible.

If you've watched the Bengals Orlando Brown Junior really struggled against that Texans D line that's the recipe for success for this Steelers quite frankly it has been for like years at this point. Yeah except at the day who really knew how to turn any high in offense into a knuckleball event for 60 minutes he left in January in the new guy from Texberg is an offensive guy so I don't know exactly where that might leave the Steelers in this one Ross Tucker everybody will enjoy the call however it turns out because you're going to be one half of it and by the way Eagles dynamite too he's about as good as it gets himself have a great time over there enjoy an iron city beer for me maybe a

but I learned that it isn't just for workouts it actually helps you throughout the entire day not just when you're at the gym and boy has it ever helped me since taking it I've noticed an increase in strength power recovery and even cognitive performance which we could all use a little more of and I know what you're thinking Dave you could use a lot more of it but that's not your business and if you're going to take creatine every day why not make sure it's the best but Dave how do I know which creatine is the best well I'm about to tell you most brands compete on flavors and marketing instead of what actually matters making the creatine itself better but a momentous they're working on what you put in your body and that's why they created signature spec creatine their most advanced creatine ever setting a new standard for quality momentous creatine delivers 10 times fewer impurities 2 to 5 times tighter heavy metal limits and full PFAS and microplastic screening now I'm not a scientist but that all sounds pretty good for the record I could probably be a scientist of I wanted just seem so hard any who if you want to try momentous signature spec

I don't think it's great to be playing chase and higgins

And not have your best cover corner and if I were Joey Porter Jr as I have said all uh all over the place this week Why would he possibly show up for that game? He's rusty. He barely practice He's not gonna put himself on the field against those guys because if he puts out bad tape he diminishes his value right and if they get Smoked without him it goes through the roof as I see you need me if you think you really think you're making the playoffs You better sign old Joe Porter number two four over here right now draft King sports It's time for picks picks picks one favorite against the spread one over under one under dog Hi, I'm Dave and I'm four and two on the season and I'm gonna make my favorite pick here Saints were a home favorite just three times last last season but for what it's worth their season opener is in Nola this week and I know it's week three but the crowd's gonna be awfully excited coming off of that big win up in Baltimore Saints minus three against the Raiders. How say you buddy?

I am going to go with the Texans minus two and a half at the Colts You want to talk about must win games early in the season Dave these Texans could not start oh and three This is a big time get right opportunity for them They have to win this game. This is going to be a desperate team Give me the Texans in a divisional game On the road minus two and a half That that that technical glitch that you just had there buddy added some real gravitas I'm taking the dolphins and whoever's playing the dolphins every week in this game KC negative 11 won't be enough. It'll probably be closer to 20 again What's I doing I'm like a baby with the pizza. What are you getting making now with them? Yeah, if you want I'll mix it up for you Do I'm gonna mix it up for you? Yeah, please okay I just take the low hanging fruit forever me cabaya I'm gonna take the Carolina Panthers minus two and a half on the road in Cleveland I think what we saw in the Cleveland game last week against Tampa Bay was Baker's not playing his best their weapons are a little bit awkward

Uh of a fit I think that Bryce Young and I think their weapons are Cruising on all cylinders right now. I'm gonna take the Panthers minus two and a half That well, I mean for 60 minutes they cruise the week before they gave up 59 points Yeah, I high point totals The total that I am going with is the chiefs and the dolphins that games been mentioned previously on this show More than once by the same person, but now it's been mentioned by two people and I'm gonna go under 45 and a half Because yeah, the chiefs have looked great on offense, but they're only one team How many points are they gonna score? I mean like the dolphins aren't gonna score the chiefs have been playing good defense as well So what well the the the chiefs could put up 38 points or the are the dolphins gonna score a touchdown I mean you're you're asking for them to score Basically double digits to go over 45 and a half this seems easy breezy to me Under 45 and a half me cabaya I'm gonna take the

Sunday night game Rams Broncos. I'm gonna take the over 44 and a half I think that it's gonna be a 24 21 game 28 27 somewhere in that mix. So I'm gonna take that over All right, all out buddy Oh, I'm always looking for the high scoring game of the weekend guys you know me give me the cowboys and Ravens We just talked about all the reasons why there's gonna be a lot of offense there over 52 and a half Gina Las Vegas and The Saints the Saints run more plays than anyone lost Vegas is getting back Brock Bauer's this week. It sounds like I can I think that they're usually gonna go over 43 and a half points. So that's my pick for the week All right, and my dog pick is oh yes I was tempted by the coach plus two and a half at home They're also low and two, but I'm going with the bucks at home against the Vikings the bucks have to have it Vikings bringing back Kyler will see if there's any rust or or otherwise there

I like the bucks to take this one buddy. How's it you? I got a real ugly one for you here Dave give me the Titans on the money line against the giants in New York We just saw what happened with that offense behind James Winston against the Rams don't think it'll look any better The Titans actually gave the Eagles a run for their money quietly last weekend Give me the Titans here really ugly pick, but sometimes that's where you got to go with dogs It's not ugly if you're going on the money line. You're not taking them as a dog You think they're gonna be an outright winner me I think they're an outright winner this weekend. Yep Maybe I know you guys are gonna get upset especially Buddy and Dave I'm gonna go with the last Vegas Raiders covering the spread plus three against the Saints And I think that I've been the foremost Saints profit here on football America But I really like what the Raiders are doing defensively a ton of pressures a ton of turnovers and sacks They're wreaking havoc very quietly

On that defensive line led by Max Crosby I think the offense is gonna be just good enough We're with Kirk cousins and if they get Brock Bauer's back even better I don't think they win, but I think they cover give me the Vegas Raiders in Nola plus three All right, Gino bring it on home here. What's that what's your dog? All right, so clearly Ethan doesn't read the rundown So there goes my Tennessee pick and so on the fly I'm gonna adjust here and I'm gonna go let's do something interesting Let's say Colts Beat the Texans and send them to oh and three Oh, not a second. I don't think we've ever stipulated in picks picks that you cannot make the same pick as somebody out Okay, exactly right then I'll take ten to see and while we're at it since it's not happening since we're on Imagine if draft Kings sports started handling business that way. Oh, no, I'm sorry. Somebody's already made that bet Can't take it one one thing though. We still haven't gotten to 85 on this week's episode So I don't want to break the chain. I got you when we talk Remember we got to talk to a little bit more we got it, you know, Ocho Cinco clearly. That's the one on top

And then we got Jack Youngblood Maybe a gator. Yeah gator one the most famous to wear that we got Antonio Gates and Nick Bonacani Oh, yeah, there had to be some meaningful dolphin. Yeah, the head of the no-name defense um Yeah, wait a second. You just made me uh, oh yes My favorite observation that only I care about no one else under the sun cares about this Jack Youngblood and Jim Youngblood two white guys on defense at the same time for the LA Rams unrelated at the exact same time in Cleveland Greg and Mike crew it to black running backs on the brown same time unrelated how's that possible and how's that possible nobody cares about that but me People do care about this Caleb Williams controversy. He took the card out and in the town that produced Buttgus and Jim McMahon How are the Bears fans dealing with their talented but new age QB? I turned once again as we did a week ago. I enjoyed it so much

I turned to my blue ribbon panel up in Chicago my pals from the reigning national champion Indian University Hoosiers Today we've gotten a steam group Tony from northwest Chicago His old man went to Lane Tech and played against Chicago vocational and Dick Buttgus our guy T. L is back former Crystal Lake QB Brian Schneff and of course the hog is back for more. Let's see how they all feel about Caleb Williams This is the best thing that's happened to the Bears since Sid Luckman in Chicago since uh since we got the Bluckman and hey, Shack what is this dumb question Caleb Williams is the best thing that's happened to the Bears since Sid Luckman and Chicago since uh since we got the bean There's something about him that that it's hard to get behind I don't know what it is. Maybe I'm just old and Don't get that all these guys got to build up their social media image. Hey, I'm a bearish fan Caleb Williams He's been unbelievable. We are bearish fans beggars cannot be choosers. What's not to like and you also got guys that are soft on quarterback

Like Schneff, you know, he was detuned material and then and played quarterback in high school So I see why he's really soft on on that position Do you know he had a really good arm? He was fast and talented and quick, but he was soft Hey, Shack, it's the hog Caleb Williams is the perfect quarterback for the Chicago Bears 17 and 19 as a starter is an individual contributor when he wants to play well He plays well by himself and then when he wants to pull up lame going to the goal line. He does that by himself as well You know, we started this discussion about Caleb Williams within the Bears community And all of a sudden he got the hog. What a jackass, you know He's a Viking's fan. He's school our backup quarterback shows up two and a half Hayden Haad, Shakespeare pie hole until the Vikings win a Super Bowl, right enough school school school school Well, I think that says it all we figured it all out. Thanks again, fellas. The hog by the way That's not made up if you happen to be watching that that he was an IU intermural badminton champion

That's absolutely true. Is he in the loop of those not comp That doesn't comport with the way he looks leave me We observed that at the time and now even more so. What were you saying there me cabal? Is he also an interloper because it said that came up on the screen too. He is an interloper. Right? Well, I mean lab. Yeah, you're rooting for the Vikings and you're jumping in on bears related matters That was my favorite thing and the whole thing like we were having this discussion as a Bears community We got to get that urine Dave as a Steelers fan. You're in a Bears community Yeah, no, I guess I guess I'm participating in Rams and Chargers Based conversations. I'm in that community right now, but I stay focused on the banks of the three rivers either way fellas Um By the very quickly because I know it matters to you are the gators gonna pull an upset here buddy Dave everybody's getting a little too hot about the gators. I don't like it. I love what's going on so far Very excited about john john summer all it was great to go into Auburn and whoop up on the tigers last week

Uh, but we're the hot pick this week and and I'm not super comfortable with it like the we're of three point favorite right now Like that drives me crazy. I just want the team to just show up play hard and and yeah I absolutely think like our offense is one of the best offenses in the country That's clear based on the evidence we've seen from the first three weeks Jayden ball is the best running back in the country just feed ball run the ball see if you can catch Ole Miss Napping after that super emotional high that they had last week I think that's the biggest thing we can hang our hats on I know we'll be competitive We're not a billionaire team anymore. We'll be competitive with the team this good. Will we win? Screw it. Yeah, go gators Meekabayo did uh, did I say because I because I know he's an expert in Spanish, but maybe not English You heard quickly, right? Yeah, I heard quickly. Yeah What was that? What was that home? It was not quickly. I only get so many chances to talk about the gators so far They've been holding it in for weeks now. We've been playing so well. I've been holding it in we had a huge win This is what happens when you talk to me about the gators. I get excited. I get fired it up. Oh, we get we get a orange and white team playing another orange and white team big week in

SEC football and that reminds me as it gets chillier In football America, which is just in time for football season I'm feeling a little bit of a chill in the southeastern portion of football America Yes presented by Yeager Meister Servant cold or don't serve it at all Yeager Meister damn that's cold for more visit yeagermeister.com drink responsibly Bunch of years ago I was at a rainy mid-October sparsely attended Carolina Panthers game And I asked the people I was with if the rain typically scares away southern football fans No, no, they said it wasn't the weather. It was the panthers media critty like everywhere else in the southeastern If the team on Sundays isn't a contender through September Those football fans just turn hardcore to Saturdays So forgive my tough love here But I was happy last Sunday to see the Broncos rally to beat the Jaguars Not just for pro football diehards in Denver, mind you

But for you Jacksonville and same for Bucks fans after watching their team lose to the browves the Cleveland browves Don't you see all you fans in the southeastern portion of football America The football gods are testing you Yes, we know the SEC just matters more matter of fact despite the sad state of dabbo's program Even ACC's Saturdays matter more to you than Sundays in your neck of the woods now I'm not here to tell you how to feel But I do hope and trust you're aware of how good some of your pro teams are looking at the moment The AFC South has at least one team maybe the Texans if they get right Then I could actually see going to the Super Bowl I know it's a way of life down there to puff your chest out on behalf of an entire college football conference Which by the by it's very weird They also root for the bullies in your neighborhood But more to my point you're bearing the pig skin lead right now The jags are good and I don't just mean goodbye And if by aFC South division standard either I mean good good

I know you know that so the apathy is striking to me You know how in every sitcom there's a laugh track You know why it's because the audience needs a cue to know their reaction is appropriate Same now applies with your teams You are making enough noise to let us know what's happening in the South matters to you I guess I understand if if you're all Miami-based football fans Bad NFL team but a mighty college contender But you're not maybe the Saints won't win the Super Bowl But they're fun at least more fun than the SEC aka college football second best conference And that's that the show is over now Whether you're watching the Saints and or Ole Miss or the Florida Gators this weekend I hope your team wins unless they're playing my team We'll be back on the other side of the football weekend live at 1245 Eastern Until then buddy me kabaiotoni Gino Danny B and Ross Tucker Thanks so much my fellow football Americans It's been a thin slice of heaven

Oh I was excited for football But now I'm really really excited because Yeager Meister is on board Yeager Meister knows being a football fan comes with some unwritten rules Never admit your lactose intolerant and green bay Never mentioned 28th of three in Atlanta Never leave a folding table unattended in Buffalo And the most important rule of all Always serve Yeager Meister ice cold on game day Zero degrees Fahrenheit Drink it cold or don't drink it at all Yeager Meister damn that's cold Drink responsibly Yeager Meister liquor 35% alcohol by volume imported by Mask Yeager Meister US white planes New York
