My name is Anthony. I'm Carla Marie and today is Tuesday, September 22nd, 2026. The four headlines you need to know. We are going to kick off the core for flying through the air with three different but related aviation headlines.

2:01You ready, Carla Marie? But related. But related. They're related by their butts. No, no, they are related because they are all aviation headlines. So first off, the FAA is about to start their 90 day trial in DC and Baltimore of AI tools for air traffic controllers. Now this news has a lot of people panicking because AI can't even give me a map of Washington and putting Seattle and Spokane in the right places. So it's not like we really want it running what's happening in the air. But this is what's actually taking place. As of right now, this AI system called smart will not replace any air traffic controllers. It will not make actual decisions. What it will do is take traffic, weather and route information into account to make recommendations to air traffic controllers. And then those humans can choose whether they accept or decline AI's suggestion. This is a 90 day trial to get ready for the nationwide rollout in 2028. Second aviation headline, all air traffic in New York, New Jersey and Philadelphia was basically

3:04shut down yesterday for a little bit. And I am glad that both my mom and my uncle have retired from NJ Transit because it's basically NJ Transit's fault. So NJ Transit was working on an underground line and cut a fiber optics cable that all of those airlines rely on. So thankfully by the end of yesterday, a lot of the air traffic was back to normal, but it did cause a bunch of delays for people at LaGuardia, JFK, Newark and Philly. Also though, imagine being like that person that's like that one wire. Really shows how interconnected everything is. And finally, the last aviation headline of the morning, the White House is going to start using Iran Airlines as a way to sanction other countries who are still doing business with Iran in their war efforts with the country because basically what the White House is saying is if you allow Iranian Airlines to land in your airports, you allow them to refuel or

4:06fill up their food or whatever, you are complicit in Iran's attacks on the US and Israel. And we will then sanction your country for letting Iranian Airlines land on your runways. So it's kind of wild. They say they'll start that in about two days. Who knows if it'll actually happen? When Fox News is standing with CNN, you know things are wild. Things are getting weird. Your TV networks are standing together after the Trump administration denied White House access to reporters from CNN, MSNOW and Politico. And those networks standing with them are ABC, CBS, NBC and Fox News. They have all joined CNN in suspending participation in the White House television pool, which means no network will provide the shared camera feed that is normally used to cover much of President Trump's events. And we're already seeing the downfall of this because Trump couldn't clearly be heard

5:08during a White House event because there were no boom mics. There was no one there working and there was no TV crew scheduled to travel with him to the UN General Assembly. Still photographers from Reuters, getting images, New York Times and Washington Post are agreeing to temporarily withhold photos in solidarity. Oh, wow. So no pictures or videos. It is absolutely crazy. And the reason that CNN and MSNOW are suspended according to Trump is because he doesn't like the constant negative coverage and says that they are reporting fake news. You know, I do think it would be nice to go back to a time where we didn't actually see or hear the President every day. Oh, it would be great. You know, like that's kind of how things used to be. I see it more than my parents. After months of back and forth and threats by different entities, the Paramount and Warner Brothers merger is officially going through. So almost every political body so the EU, the White House, all had approved and at least

6:10made way for the Paramount Warner Brothers merger. Basically Paramount is buying Warner Brothers. The hold up was the Reuters Union and at least 12 states attorneys general were suing saying this is an antitrust violation, which it still kind of is, but those states and Paramount have settled on an agreement avoiding any court dates or anything like that. And according to the settlement, Paramount promises for the next five years to release 30 movies in theaters every single year. They also in order to keep CNN, which you just talked about, Carlymory and CBS, they have to set up an independent news editorial board that would make sure that those news organizations are not impacted by the ownership of Paramount so they can operate independently. Do I believe it? No. Not really. And on top of that, the company agreed to spend 300 million more dollars every year in US film production.

7:11I don't know how long that temporary agreement is for, but those are like the three biggest points in this settlement. We've obviously talked about how expensive child care is on this podcast. But what we don't talk about are the grandparents, because a lot of families rely on grandparents for low cost or free child care. So there's a new AARP study out that said nearly half of grandparents with grandchildren under the age of 18 said they provide care at least once every few months. Oh, I mean, my mom just became a grandparent in May and she's helping out on a weekly basis. Correct. And my keep a mind. She's happy to do it. She loves seeing her granddaughter. Right. And same thing for my parents, but this is what's a wild number AARP estimates that grandparents provide about $731 billion dollars worth of unpaid caregiving every year.

8:12Wow. So like if you were to replace all the grandparents out there with nanny or day care or whatever, that's almost a billion dollars. No, no, no, 731 billion. Oh, almost a trillion dollars. That's crazy. Like, oh my God. And obviously for some grandparents, this means major sacrifices. Some of them end up retiring early. One woman they interviewed in this story says she just basically retired and moved from Idaho to the East Coast, because her daughter said I can't have a second kid because the first one's child care costs the same as our mortgage. Yeah. And she was like, OK, I'll move in with you. It's just absolutely insane to think about this. Which is a good reminder as we get closer to Christmas and the holidays. Make sure you get those grandparents a very good gift especially if they're helping with your child care. A quick reminder, it's not all doom and gloom. Here's today's hope for humanity. Top quiz for you, Karla Marie and for any of the college football fans of college basketball fans in the room. The University of Utah mascot is or nickname the Yut's.

9:18The Utah Yut's which is actually named after the Native American tribe that's right now headquartered in Utah. Back in the day, it used to cover Colorado, Utah and a little bit of Wyoming, I believe. But the reason I bring that up in today's hope for humanity is because the University of Utah and the Yut tribe just signed another five year deal. So I didn't know this before I read this article. They have had this memorandum of understanding for years now and every so often, they renew it. The new deal will raise scholarships for eligible Yut students like from the reservation from $8,000 a year to $6,000 a semester which ends up being $18,000 a year. On top of that, those scholarships will cover tribal members and their descendants moving forward because there was a little bit of controversy over how they gave out those scholarships by using a blood quantum. University of Utah will also continue to donate $100,000 every year for the next five years

10:22for K through 12 education on the U reservation and the University of Utah will provide mobile health clinics on the reservation. And this is really cool. Every first year student, so every freshman or first year student at the University of Utah also gets an education on the Yut tribe. This is so cool. And this is how if you are going to use a tribal name as your mascot, this is how it's supposed to be done. And shout out to my friend Angelica who is their new in game MC.
